Tour of Bangkok spas March 2023
ChristianPFC and 4 others reacted to fedssocr for a topic
This evening it was time to get back on the table M89 (Lad Phrao 15/1) I saw this place on Twitter (https://twitter.com/M89Massage) It's a bit off the usual beaten track, but just a quick 10 minute walk from the Lad Phrao MRT. Shop is quite nice and modern. Not too much English spoken here, but we all managed with good humor. I used Line to make a booking several hours ahead of time. I arrived shortly before 7 PM and my masseur, Mr. Ten, was already there. (Photos below). I was smitten with his photos on Twitter. He was a bit taller and better built than I was expecting. The room up several flights was very nice. En suite shower, music playing on a decent speaker. Small bottle of cold water provided. I selected my usual 90 min massage which was 650 baht (there was a 100 baht off promo going on). Minimum tip 500. I was invited to shower and Ten came back to the room just as I was finishing the shower. Nice massage table with a good amount of cushion on the top. After a few dud massages this one was much more of what I like. He started with my back and some full weight Thai massage but relatively quickly transitioned to a very relaxing oil massage with a good variety of strokes. He draped the part he wasn't working on and used Google translate to let me know to tell him if the AC was too cold. Overall I found Ten to be a very pleasant masseur who was interested in giving me a good service. He then moved on to my legs and eventually flipped me over. He had been clothed up until this point but eventually the clothes came off. I was happy with the finish. Then we showered separately. He again used Google translate to ask me some questions about where I am staying and how long I have been here which I thought was nice. I think the session lasted about 75 minutes. On the whole it was a very nice experience.5 points -
These sleep pods look great but as the article points out there are only six in each long haul aircraft. You rent them at an extra fee for a few hours after which they are prepared for another passenger. I think this clearly depends on the airline - and passengers with kids, of course. In my view small kids should be banned from long haul business class! My sister recently took a long haul United flight from the UK to the US in biz class and thought it a total waste of money. On the other hand, I have just completed 4 biz class flights on Qatar to the UK from BKK on a variety of aircraft - an A380, 2 x 787s and one 777 with the Q Suites. The Q Suites are wonderful for peace and space. The other aircraft had the herring bone configuration and were perfectly good for sleeping. Qatar provides a matress to go over the seat since many seats can be quite hard in the flat position and the blanket is large, luxurious and thick. Food and wines for those with an appetite are the best I have ever tasted in any biz class. Meals are also served when you want them. Mind you, there can be times when it would be nice if there were no doors to the Suites. Returning to Bangkok across the aisle there was the cutest Thai guy travelling with his mother. I would happily have spent more time gazing at him!!3 points

Is Indicting Trump A Good Idea?
Marc in Calif and one other reacted to forky123 for a topic
It so isn't. Just how many senators and congressmen/women skate through crimes that would see others in prison. How many african americans see a far harsher side of the laws of the US than whites doing the same or worse crime. The current congress is being run by idiots that couldn't spell law let alone introduce one.2 points -

1) Indicting an ex president is a political minefield, especially when you have a congress which will 100% interfere all they can. 2) Even if indicted, Trump can still run in '24. He is also the most vindictive pig imaginable so expect reprisals against all concerned should he win in '24. Not saying they shouldn't indict him as hey definitely should but I can understand why they are being careful. It's time for Democrats to take the kid gloves off and play it as dirty as GOP does as I can't think of much worse than another 4 years of Trump.2 points -

Trumps announcement about his impending Tuesday arrest was just him taking his supporters temperature, and testing what the reaction would be in social media and if he still had a posse that would risk jail time for him..... Trump seems to know how to manipulate everyone especially the media, and I am starting to believe all these cases against him will fall flat, and he will go on to be the GOP 2024 nominee. Can someone please tell me WHY the judicial system is so afraid of Trump, even when they have slam dunk evidence against him ? Somethings wrong with that !2 points -

What do you feel about wokeness in film and theater?
forky123 and one other reacted to Marc in Calif for a topic
Just came across this old thread... So knowing all about this new production, you and your partner DID decide to go to Oklahoma! last summer in LA. And after you saw it, you complained about it over on that other site, calling it "Wokelahoma." 🙄 After you complained about the production that you paid to see, I responded as follows: Any theatergoer would have known the details of this (by now) well-known production. Are you saying that you were completely clueless about it before you purchased tickets? So you did know the details beforehand — and you went anyway? You clearly knew all about the new production and its changes. I think you have yourself to blame if you purchased tickets to something that you already knew you wouldn't like or appreciate. But maybe you decided to see it just so you could come online to complain and make one of your favorite political points? 🤷♂️2 points -

Police Bust Alleged Indian Scammer in Pattaya for Scamming American Victims
Marc in Calif and one other reacted to reader for a topic
From Pattaya News UPDATE: Pattaya Police Holds Press Briefing into Massive Indian Scam By Tanakorn Panyadee Five Indian phone scammers and 15 Thai accomplices were arrested following a major scam bust yesterday across Thailand. The suspects swindled 365 American retirees out of over three billion baht, according to police. The raids carried out by the Cyber Crime Investigation Bureau (CCIB), police commandos, and officials from the Anti-Money Laundering Office struck 36 premises in Chonburi, Rayong, Roi Et, and Surat Thani, and resulted in the arrest of over 20 phone scam suspects. Pol. Gen. Torsak Sukwimol, deputy national police chief, told a press briefing today, March 22nd, that the suspects mainly targeted elderly American citizens and had tricked 365 people into transferring them three billion baht. The Royal Thai Police are joining forces with the US Federal Bureau of Investigation and US Secret Service to hunt for 16 remaining fugitives. On Tuesday, March 21st, Pattaya Police arrested one Indian alleged scammer and seized from him 162 bank account books, 61 smartphones, two cars, and one firearm. According to Gen. Torsak, a group of Indian and Thai nationals formed a call center gang to scam retirees in the United States. The group swindled money from the victims by saying the victims were involved in legal cases, posing themselves as FBI officers, or hacking the victims’ computers. Between 2020-2021, there were 72,000 reported cases with damages totaling more than 3 billion baht. The victims varied in occupations, such as doctors, university professors, dentists, military personnel, and business owners, Gen. Torsak said. Most of them were swindled out of their hard-earned life savings. The syndicate operated as a network with different roles to move and hide the assets obtained from their criminal activities. They used Thailand, Cambodia, Singapore, Malaysia, Hong Kong, the United Arab Emirates, Peru, and Poland as sources for stashing the scammed money. After investigating and collecting digital evidence, police discovered that there was more than 1 billion baht circulating within the scam gang’s network. Bank accounts belonging to legal entities within the network, as well as gold shops, restaurants, and entertainment venues in Chonburi were also found to have been used to launder money. ========================== From The Thaiger Police nab Chinese kidnapper at airport Police arrested a Chinese man before he boarded a flight out of Thailand last night. He is one of three men who abducted a Chinese woman and her brother-in-law in Pattaya on Monday for a ransom of 4.7 million baht. The two hostages were saved by police and returned home at 2am today. On Monday, 33 year old Ma Mingshan from China reported to the police that his 33 year old wife San Qi Qiang and his 50 year old brother were abducted from their Nissan car on Pornpranimit 21 Road, on their way back from dropping his three year old son at school.2 points -
I know 2 garotos who stopped going to the sauna because they felt it was a drain on their psychological well being. Getting rejected by customers, and having to compete with other garotos for just a 100 reais, having to perform 3 times in a row… By doing hotel / home visits only, they were avoiding these specific psychological drains while still getting a few jobs a week. Their GP income is lower but they said that feel less ’used’, and one said it gave him time for another job.2 points

Because I am switching from a temporary employment contract via an agency to a permanent contract directly with my employer, I had some holiday time left to use before April 1st. What better way than to spent that holiday time in LOS? Only a short stay this time. Two weeks in Bangkok and Pattaya. ARRIVING After a few days in Dubai with an old colleague and friend I was flying to Bangkok and arrived yesterday. I had read some comments on this forum (and messages on English language Thai news sites) about enormous waiting times for immigration at BKK Airport and long queues for a taxi into town. But thank god that was not the case yesterday. Immigration was cleared in about 10 minutes and outside I could walk straight to an available taxi. No lines at all. HOTEL Hotel I booked this time is the Quarter Silom Hotel, in the same soi as Tawan bar. They had good offer and the pictures looked good. Indeed the hotel is very modern. Rooms are big enough for my liking. The design is a bit dark. I like the led lighting that you can control the colour from. I arrived at 2pm but unfortunately my room was not ready yet. I had to wait about 1hr for my room to come available. Downsides: my room has a connection door to neighbouring room. Because of that some noise from that other room is coming into my room. But more concerned about what the neighbours might hear coming from my room when I have a visitor... And like more and more hotels you need keycard to use the elevator. No chance in letting a Grindr boy come directly to your room. Need to pick him up from downstairs, with staff probabaly noticing. But also probabaly not caring. FIRST NIGHT I was tired from missing out on a night sleep because of flight times. After a quick nap I decided I wanted to have a look at the Patpong boybars. Curious about the new Dreamboys location. Still tired, while walking around the area and checking out the re-opened Patpong night Market, some messages came in on Grindr. A guy with nice muscled body was advertising himself as "love to suck deepthroat". In the chat he told me he doesn't only like it, but he's also very good at sucking cock. So I decided to try if this was true instead of visiting the bars. Turned out a good choice. Was long time ago I was given head so skilled. A good first night in Thailand. The bars can wait for tomorrow... That was what I was thinking. Turned out that was not possible. But more about it in my next post. Nice body of my first night guy1 point

From The Thaiger Airports of Thailand (AOT) is ready to invest US$1 billion (36.8 billion baht) to improve and expand the capacity of the low-cost terminal of Bangkok’s Don Mueang Airport, AOT announced yesterday. AOT plans to increase capacity from 30 million to 40 million passengers per year by 2029, with construction beginning this year, according to a statement from AOT. The project will “increase national income as a whole such as income from tourism, income from service sector related to tourism,” AOT said. AOT plans to add 12 aircraft parking stands and 11 jet bridges to Don Mueang, according to the statement. Once complete, the airport’s capacity will almost rival that of Suvarnabhumi Airport which can handle 45 million passengers per year.1 point

FIRST FULL DAY After arriving yesterday afternoon and being jet-legged, today was going to be my first full day in Thailand. Noticed the new Sikom Edge shopping center. Which is nothing special. Just again another mall, like there are so many in Bangkok. Good thing is the restaurants in Edge are open 24hr a day. Maybe a good alternative for foodland for a change for a after midnight snack? The new pavement on Silom Road is finished. They even made room for new trees and other greenery. Good to see more and more green in the city. Also Patpong Night Market is back. With the first part on the Silom Road side begin a food market and the old skool market as we know it from before covid is in the second part of the street. In the evening I was first at Hua Lamphong station. This week they light up the facade of the station and some areas inside as part of an art project. And they have two old trains on showcase. CLOSED BARS IN BANGKOK It was still early when I walked from Silom subway station back to my hotel via Soi Patpong 2. It was around 9pm and I noticed DreamBoy and Freshboys (still) being closed and all dark. Strange. Normally by now they would be opening up, even though it would not be busy at all at this time. Back in my hotelroom I asked a massage guy I met last time in September if he maybe knows what's happening. He told me that a friend of him has heard police was checking all bars and massage parlours for foreign boys working there. Later in evening I decided to go out and check if the bars were open again. But they were still all closed. Tawan Bar, DreamBoy, Hotmale, Freshboys and even Jupiter... All closed and all had their neon-lights out. Hopefully tomorrow they will be open again, as I really would love to visit these bars again offcourse... Anybody has any past experience when the bars opened again after police raids? Edit: By the way, the "normal" gaybars were open tonight. Only the "naughty bars" closed.1 point

People should feel free to chime in if they wish with their own reports. I know people enjoy hearing what's going on now. Fresh Boys After being here a week I finally went to a gogo tonight. Fresh Boys was on the agenda. I remembered all of the reasons why I usually avoid gogos these days. Pushy mamasan who wouldn't stop touching me. When I arrived I was the only customer so the pressure of all those eyes on me was intense. Too many people asking for tips for doing absolutely nothing. For a Monday night there ended up being a decent-sized crowd for the show (which began at 10:15). I'd guess there were around 20 or so people there at the peak and somewhere in the neighborhood of 25 boys of various shapes and sizes. I'd reckon about a half dozen would have been possible offs for me. Drinks 400, off fee 500. The show was not especially exciting. Several drag queen lip syncs, a dance number by 4 boys, the usual things like the candle wax show, big cock show, the boys banging on the pole with their poles. Mr Boy #31 was everywhere in the show - handsome, tall, lean, defined guy with a big cock. I didn't really intend to off anyone until a spur of the moment decision to take Mr. Lam #8 out of the bar. Skinny, young Vietnamese boy with a surprisingly big cock. I really had my eye on #5 who I think was the best looking boy in the bar face-wise. I always have had a thing for blonds and Asian boys with blond dyed hair do it for me. But he was otherwise occupied by someone else as the show neared its end. Maybe another time.1 point

Is Siam Square the queerest place in Bangkok?
splinter1949 reacted to fedssocr for a topic
Today's adventures took me to Siam Square. Obviously it's been the center of youth culture here for a long time. Now they've set up some areas for young student bands to play in the evenings. I've seen some big name groups play on the street there as well. Off to one side of the action tonight was a giant kpop dance party that was so fun. Mostly it seemed to be queer boys and their girl friends of all shapes and sizes and little sisters and brothers. Whoever knew the choreo would jump in when a song started playing or they would clear the dance area for those who did know the moves. Everyone was having so much fun. Lots of girly boys in skirts. It all just felt so incredibly positive and empowering. You could tell that it was a great community. I'd estimate a couple of hundred dancers and a large collection of on-lookers. It was heart-warming for this tired old queen. The bands were interesting too. Most seemed to be HS kids. One group included two boys with rainbow guitar straps - one with a pink guitar and the other with a bass that had a little kawaii stuffed animal hanging off of it. Lots of girl musicians and singers in the mix. Pretty much all cover songs that I recognized. Overall it was a fun place to spend some time.1 point -

Will Disneyworld become a rightwing destination?
JKane reacted to Marc in Calif for a topic
ORLANDO (The Borowitz Report) Ron DeSantis has unveiled an ambitious plan to raze Disney World and replace it with a “Dilbert”-themed attraction. The new theme park, tentatively called Dilbert World, will attract “millions of Americans deprived of their favorite comic strip by the left-wing media Reich,” the Florida governor said. Calling the new tourist destination “a woke-free zone,” DeSantis promised, “Parents who go to Dilbert World can rest assured that their children will not be exposed to the vile multicultural propaganda that it’s a small world, after all.” DeSantis was vague about what kind of rides might be featured in Dilbert World, saying only that “they will probably involve cubicles.”1 point -

I have never experienced anything like this, but I have heard something similar, although by the time the story got to me, it was third-hand, so I cannot swear to the accuracy of the details. If I recall correctly, it happened in Pattaya. A boy was offed in the usual manner and was already halfway through the proceedings in the hotel room when the mamasan called. They boy then told the client that he had been instructed to finish within the next 30 minutes and get back to the bar as another customer was arriving soon. Since the boy had a follow-on booking, and he wanted to be sure he could rise to the occasion when needed, he told his client that he would not cum. This abrupt turn of events naturally left the client very frustrated. I don't know what financial adjustments were made.1 point -

What do you feel about wokeness in film and theater?

The couple problematic Dr. Seuss books weren't banned. They were removed from publication BY THE SEUSS ESTATE/FAMILY. So fucking tired of the right wing-nut taking points being abjectly wrong and even opposite (WHICH SIDE IS CURRENTLY BANNING BOOKS?) while people just let that fly by without thought or challenge. And Song of the South, should it be featured on Disney Streaming? Or should the company be ashamed of it while University media programs use it to teach with? But wait, no, THAT'S Critical Race Theory!!!! You can't discus abject pervasive racism in the past, even though it's demonstrable!1 point -
What do you feel about wokeness in film and theater?
moistmango reacted to unicorn for a topic
In many ways, I see wokeness as an attempt to white-wash, or color-wash, the past instead of acknowledging it and putting it into context. Often this means trying to impugn today's more enlightened values instead of showing things as they were, and explaining that our values have changed. At other times, it involves wholesale book-burning rather than preserving the demonstration of how our culture has changed. For example, the movie Breakfast at Tiffany's portrays some highly offensive racial stereotypes, which certainly could never have been produced today. Rather than banning the movie, the movie has a preface which prepares the audience for the offensive material, and explains how times have changed. In watching the movie, one can therefore gain an appreciation for how society has advanced (as one shrieks "Oh, my god!" while viewing the offensive parts). In other works, however, the works have simply been banned, such as the movie Song of the South and multiple Dr. Seuss books. At other times, works are simply changed to place our more modern, enlightened values onto old works, such as G&S's Mikado, or R&H's Oklahoma!. I personally think there's value in being able to view things as they were, so that we can reflect as to how far we've come. Seeing how things have changed for the better gives us appreciation for the courageous acts of those who helped instill that change, such as Jackie Robinson. One should view the past as it was in order to avoid repeating the mistakes of times past.1 point -
