An alternative to Airbnb for long stays (30 or more days) is to contact hotels directly and inquire if they offer non-advertised discounts. Some are quite willing to quote a rate, particularly during shoulder and low season periods. Before I began using Airbnb, Tarntawan and Amara were among those locations that did offer monthly rates. Doesn't cost anything to ask.4 points

What happens to your body on a long-haul flight
Marc in Calif and 2 others reacted to reader for a topic
From CNN Travel CNN — If crowded airports are a sign, travelers are keen to get back into the skies. And if you’re flying long haul, in a few years you could have an even longer option. Qantas has announced from late 2025, it will fly passengers on nonstop flights from Australia’s east coast to London that would see you in the air for more than 19 hours in one stretch. That’s compared with current flights that take the best part of 24 hours but are broken up into shorter legs. So what will happen to your body during one of these longer flights? Is it any different to what happens when you fly long-haul now? 1. You can become dehydrated Dehydration is common on long-haul flights. It can explain why your throat, nose and skin can feel dry on an airplane. The longer the flight, the greater the risk of dehydration. That’s because of low levels of humidity in the cabin compared with what you’d expect on the ground. This is mostly because a lot of the air circulating through the cabin is drawn from the outside, and there’s not a lot of moisture in the air at high altitudes. You also risk dehydration by not drinking enough water, or drinking too much alcohol (alcohol is a diuretic, resulting in an increase in fluid lost). So drink water before you jump on the plane. During the flight, you’ll also need to drink more water than you usually would. 2. The cabin can play havoc with your ears, sinuses, gut and sleep As the cabin pressure changes, the gas in our bodies reacts accordingly. It expands as the aircraft climbs and pressure decreases, and the opposite occurs as we descend. This can lead to common problems such as: • earaches – when the air pressure either side of your eardrum is different, placing pressure on the eardrum • headaches – can be caused by expanding air trapped in your sinuses • gut problems – just accept that you’re going to fart more. You can also feel more sleepy than usual. That’s due to the body not being able to absorb as much oxygen from the cabin air at altitude than it would on the ground. Slowing down is the body’s way of protecting itself, and this can make you feel sleepy. The good news is that most of these problems won’t necessarily be more pronounced on longer flights. They’re mainly an issue as the plane climbs and descends. 3. You could develop blood clots Blood clots, associated with being immobile for long periods, are usually a big concern for passengers. These include clots that form in the leg (deep vein thrombosis or DVT) that can travel to the lung (where it’s known as a pulmonary embolism). If you don’t move around on the plane, and the more of the following risk factors you have, the greater the chance of blood clots developing: • older age • obesity • previous history or a family history of clots • certain types of clotting disorders • cancer • recent immobilization or surgery • pregnancy or recently given birth • hormone replacement therapy or oral contraceptive pill. According to a review in 2022, combining data from 18 studies, the longer you travel, the greater the risk of blood clots. The authors calculated there was a 26% higher risk for every two hours of air travel, starting after four hours. At 65, I can still cum more than once a day if I try, but lack the desire to do so. at home wanking, every other day is fine. On a sexcation, I often have sex more than once a day, but being verse I don't pop when I bottom. I save it for topping. I have had 4 men in a day and only popped inside one. the strong drive to have sex is not there like it was years ago, but I'm not wasting my vacation not having a good time with fabulous men that I cannot experience at home....3 points

Belo Horizonte Feb. 2023
JKane and one other reacted to endlessdream for a topic
Here is a brief report on Belo Horizonte. (Upon re-reading the report below I’ve realized how drunk I was while I wrote it on my flight back to Paris. Lol. Anyway, I hope you enjoy:) I was there for 5 days, stayed at the Hilton Garden Inn. 40k points in total so 8k (about 30 usd) per night, which is a steal. The hotel is in a higher middle class area, 10 minutes walk south of Contorno (ring road), with nice shops and restaurants around. It might not be as commercial as Savassi area, where the Holiday Inn is, but it sufficed for me. By the way, in terms of international hotels, these two are as good as it gets in BH. The touristic interests of BH is limited. The museums around Liberty Circle are surprisingly well appointed. Some buildings of Niemeyer in the center are worth a glimpse. Ouro Preto is cute but seriously over rated. Any city over 200k inhabitants in Europe would a more decent old town. I was just there for a day trop. One mirante, two churches and three museums took me 5 hours. If not for a last minute hookup, I’d be bored to tears there. Personally I don’t consider the mineiros the best looking, nor the most hung of all. They are friendly, with mild demeanor and a laidback attitude. This was especially enjoyable in a non-GP sauna. I visited Tres Chic, and scored 3 guys under an hour. Great facility, clean, functioning, with about 30 clean and free cabines upstairs. There were about 100 guys in that Sunday afternoon. The clientele is mostly next door type aging from 30 to 50, very easy to approach. I picked those 3 that I considered the best looking and most hung, one Northern European, one Latino and one afro. None of them resisted. I almost feared that they were gonna charge me something. No, they were just nice to this lost Asian visitor. The first one cum before me, very apologizing. The second one made me cum without finishing up. The afro synchronized perfectly with me and we remained chatting quite a while after. I sized up lots of guys’ cocks there and most of them rang from 15cm to 18cm. Those 3 I picked were 18, 20, 21cm. There were about 3 very young guys there. Scarily young. One was constantly sitting in a dark corner in from of the glory hole entrance. I suppose that he was waiting for mouthy delicacies. One I really wanted to kiss but he disappeared after I finished my 3rd. I shouldn’t have hesitated. Guys don’t remove their towels, not even in the saunas. You really have to walk to them and size it up yourself. The only complain I have is that cellphones are not allowed inside. And that was the very reason I left after merely 1 hour. I did meet lots of free Grindr guys, about 3 per day. One cute bottom was delicious! He came directly from the gym in front of the hotel. He rode my cock like a champ and cum hands free. The most incredible find was on the second last day, an half afro, one quarter indigenous, one quarter European. We talked on Grindr, met in front of the Sanctuario Sao Jose, and walked in the city park while having long chats about everything and nothing. He came with me to the hotel, stayed with me till my cab ride to the airport. His 24 cm cock was one of the most enjoyable ones I have ever had in my ass. We kept in contact and I’m sure I’ll see him again. I brought him to Olympos. We watched the show there, had some drinks and had some light snacks. The Kibe was really good m. There were about 3 or 4 boys I could have hired, but they all lost their lusters compared to my companion. The boys were friendly without being pushy. They all came to introduce themselves, showed off their merchandise, then left us alone. The asking price was 150 and I’m positively sure they’d accept 100. None of them had a cock over 22 cm, and all of them claimed to be top. I’m not sure I would want to go back to BH but I definitely don’t regret that I went there.2 points -

From The Economist Gay watching for straight women A Thai take on manga storylines is big in Japan Are Thailand’s gay TV dramas the next K-pop? The “2gether cafe”, a pop-up restaurant on the second floor of the Tower Records Shibuya building in Tokyo, is a hub for a new Asian craze. Visitors, all women, swoon over wall-to-wall pictures of Bright Vachirawit and Win Metawin, stars of “2gether: The Series”, a Thai TV drama about two students who fall in love. The actors, both men, are depicted exchanging flirtatious glances and hugging. Airy Thai pop music plays in the background. “I didn’t know Thailand had such handsome men,” says Kobayashi Maki. An ardent fan of the TV series, she is studying Thai because of it. Thai soap operas about gay romance, generically known as “Boys’ Love” (BL) or sometimes “Y series”, are stealing hearts across Asia. Though the first shows appeared in 2014, the genre, including over a hundred series to date, took off outside Thailand during covid-19 lockdowns, thanks in part to many being available on YouTube. ============================ Unfortunately, the remainder of article is behind a paywall. Eating I visited the restaurant in Foodland, that has been mentioned several times by other members. I went there for breakfast the first morning in BKK. Cost was very reasonable, as has been mentioned, but I found the portions too big for me, so food went to waste. Following days, I went to a coffee shop in the Silom Complex, in Chamchuri Square and other shops near by. I also went to the Crackhouse (what a name!) for delicious pancakes. It is located in the Commons on Sala Daeng Road. Dinners were at a mix of restaurants – Thai, Indian, fast food (had to try the chicken at Texas Chicken!). Al Saray restaurant on Silom near the Sala Daeng BTS Station was a new find for me. They serve Indian and Lebanese food. I had one of the best biryanis there. I also visited G’s (mentioned by @vinapu in his posts). Went there twice on subsequent days. Went alone one day and had their chicken with cashews. On that day, it was delicious. My Filipino friend also wanted to go there, so we went there the next day. And the same dish was not that great. Quite dry, less tasty and I had an upset stomach after eating there. Not sure what really caused that. It is always a treat eating Thai dishes in the different restaurants. All (except for one day) are pretty good and quite reasonably priced.2 points

The Boys I did not off any guys from the Clubs this time. All my meetings were arranged by intros on Grindr. My hook ups varied between slim to muscular to athletic guys. One is a soldier; he was really handsome! I met up with him towards the end of my trip. I would have definitely had some repeats with him, if I had met him earlier. Well, a reason to go back to Bangkok within next few months! Two of the other boys were from Vietnam. They all spoke good English, so it was easy to communicate and chat with them. For massage at a shop, I went to Senso and chose a tall handsome guy, who was smiling at me (took the advice of other members). Others have described the routine at Senso: shower alone first, massage, the fun part and then shower together. I would go back to this masseur the next time I’m in Bangkok. The other massage sessions were in my room.2 points

Clubs Hot Male: I visited Hot Male on the 1st night I was in Bangkok. Entrance was 400 Baht. I went soon after the show had started. On that day, the place was almost full, but not packed. Almost 40% of those in the audience that day were women. There were about 15 guys on the stage, wide range to suit most. They were all wearing sweatpants and most wearing T-shirts. Hardly anyone was smiling; they looked bored. For me, the show was OK. I visited Hot Male again towards the end of my trip. This time, there were very few women, and the choice of boys was not as good as the previous visit. The good-looking ones may have been “offed” already. Fresh Boys: I visited the Club after seeing the show at Hot Male on Day 1. Entrance was also 400 Baht. There were about 20 guys on stage, all wearing sweats and most wearing Ts. There were fewer women here and the place was about half full. Here, there were more smiles on the faces of the boys, compared to Hot Male. There was even a greater variety of guys here, some past their prime as go-go boys. They had their “cock show” as part of their overall show. Again, show was OK. Dream Boys I patronized Dream Boys 3 times during this trip. Cover charge was 500 Baht for the 2 times and 550 Baht on a Monday (not sure why the difference). Each time, the place was about half full. There were about 25 guys parading on stage each time, before and after the main show. They were all in briefs. Just before the start of the main show, 9 of the boys danced very well to upbeat music, and they all looked like they were enjoying themselves. Of the Clubs I visited this time, I saw the most smiles here. There was a good selection and variety in the boys. I would say this Club had the best entertainment out of the 4 Clubs I went to this time. Each time, there were slightly different routines. The costumes, which one can write home about, were also different each time. When performing, the guys were in sync during their dance performance. They put on a very decent performance. While the shows here are raunchier than at Moonlight, it almost seemed like the choreographer from Moonlight had moved to Dream Boys. The shows at Moonlight were great during past visits. Moonlight For old times sake, I visited Moonlight to see their show and their “models”. Cover charge was 450 Baht. The boys at Moonlight are good looking. However, except for a few, there weren’t many smiles on their faces. I used to enjoy their shows, but I was quite disappointed this time around. As mentioned above, I found the show at Dream Boys much better. One of the top models at Moonlight (let’s call him B) seems to have lost his touch, in my view. To me, B was one of the best performers there in the past, but no more. He even looked different this time. On the other hand, I found the other model, lets call him N, looking better as he is no longer buffed up, but still in decent shape. I only went to Moonlight once as I didn’t enjoy my time there as much this time. Based on some of the comments posted by other Members, I skipped Jupiter this time. General comment: I found the temperature pleasant at all 4 clubs, not very cool, as in previous times. The sound was also bearable, not very loud as to burst your ear drums. On the aside, I went to the famous Foodland, after visiting a Club, and it was bone chilling cold that night in one section.2 points

Rather than describing what happened each day of my visit, I will provide comments on different parts of my stay in Bangkok. Impressions & Observations of Bangkok on this trip I walked around the Surawong and Silom areas everyday and here are my observations of what I noticed since my last visit. Overall, there were fewer tourists than before, particularly those from China. The Patpong Night market is open again, but there seemed to be fewer stalls and fewer people visiting them each night. There seemed to be more massage shops on Surawong. A number of marijuana shops have opened up all over, now that weed is legal in Thailand. Several food carts along Surawong were open and seemed to be doing fine. Shops and services on Thaniya Road seem to be catering to mostly Japanese tourists now; I don’t recall that being the case before. Things are still not quite back to normal after the pandemic. A few of the places were still shuttered shut and have not reopened. I initially thought that some of the restaurants I had previously gone to were permanently closed. But I was mistaken: 2 of the 3 were still open. An Indian restaurant on Surawong is no longer there. Of the other 2, one closes early at 9 pm (I went there after 9) and the other is a restaurant now also sells weed (I initially thought the whole place was converted to a weed shop). A new fast-food place has opened up on Silom, near Sala Deng BTS Station – Texas Chicken; you see them being promoted in some of the Thai BL series. A lot more MBs and “massage therapists” are now on Grindr. Others have mentioned this too. A good number of locals wore masks, even when outside. Most tourists did not. On BTS, most folks, including foreigners, wore masks. Tim Horton’s, which has thousands of coffee shops in Canada, has recently opened some shops in Bangkok. I went to one and was disappointed. They do not offer brewed coffee – a bread-and-butter item in Canada at Tim’s - nor a plain toasted bagel. They offer Americanos, lattes, and other beverages and bagels with cream cheese only. XOne had the best exchange rates as mentioned by @vinapu (I hang on to every word he writes, and then I can’t go wrong! ).2 points

Although they were one of the earliest five star hotels in that sex orientated area, as Reader writes they were careful to ensure that it never became a place for casual hook ups. Having eaten there several times last year, the food in the Ruenton restaurant is fabulous, I am confident that the hotel isn't gay unfriendly. I believe it is still owned by the original family who had it built.2 points -
Personally, it's way too early for me to be handicapping Joe Biden. A lot can happen in a year. I can say that I have no issue with Biden's age, as I believe functional age is more relevant than chronological age and there are many younger politicians acting a lot goofier than Biden. I also believe that a President is not a dictator and those around her/him are just as important as the President. I can also say that I think Kamala Harris is more of a handicap than a help. Biden's best shot would be to choose a Vice-President who would make a popular President. Not that I think it would happen but Michelle Obama could probably put them both in the White House. One thing I've been watching with a bit of surprise is Biden's tracking in the Rasmussen Presidential Poll. He just hit a positive number for the first time since his six-month 'honeymoon' in 2021. I don't know why and some folks will say the Rasmussen poll is awful and tilted toward Republicans, but I follow it since it's a daily poll and I focus on the day-to-day changes rather than the absolute numbers. Finally, if you told me that Biden will be elected because of Republican misfires rather than his own achievements, I wouldn't disagree with you.1 point

Familiarity breeds contempt as they say. After that first sensational programa with your paramour, the second, third, etc times might feature less fireworks than you would hope. And you might keep on trying, to see if you can recreate the magic of the first time. And for all you know he might be trying as hard as the first time, but because you already know his magical moves, you might think the sex is getting worse. It might be getting worse, or maybe because you are less wowed than the first time. A simple "no" the next time is easy enough to say. Hard to say it maybe if you've developed a fondness for a guy you've been intimate with, but 9 times out of 10 they will understand. You are not the first person to do this to them. On average, they hear "no's" more times in a night than "yeses". They expect to hear this from you eventually. I admit that sometimes, when I have an amazing first programa with a GP, I do an "afterglow" programa the very next night. Sometimes the sex is better, sometimes it is worse. And I usually almost always say no the third night, since like @BlkSupermanhas said so eloquently, variety is the spice of life, and new penis is almost always better penis.1 point

Vinapu, I would add to your list, those of us who choose to retire here to continue all of what is written above - because it is cheaper than in our home countries, the weather is better, the food is great, the beaches are wonderful. Furthermore, the big gay retirement community that is here gives us a sense of happiness and security knowing that we can avoid the assisted care centers back in our home countries, that might require us to go back into the closet for the last years of our lives. Instead, we can die with dignity, having our Thai guys take care of us until the bitter end - in my mind, this Thai type of assisted living care is SO much better than the back home version and is affordable. Last year, my mother died in assisted living care (she was there for 3 long years), and it was costing us between $7,000 to $9,000 USD each month - truly outrageously expensive. The assisted care center was nice - but very mechanical and mundane in its approach - not the way that I want to finish the last years of my life - so, Thailand it is for me.1 point
