I went to Thailand only once, but actually had a pretty good experience with a gogoboy from hotmale. He was very fun to be with, I took him to a temple visit around Pattaya, to the elephant park / garden, to the mall, to the big Buddha statue, to a river cruise+dinner in Bangkok, to get a manicure and a couple massage etc. And of course every meal together. If you have a bit of chemistry, it works. Maybe not for two weeks, but 3 days is fun and you get to learn a bit more about that guy that if you had just an overnight.4 points

I visited SR for 10 days in February and this is a brief write up of my visit. I am going to be discreet but I am happy answer any specific questions about venues or activities…..just drop me a message. I found vinapu’s previous account of his visit interesting and I did discover Hanuman beer…excellent! I stayed at Men’s Resort. It was a real oasis in a busy city and excellent to return to after a busy day. The food was excellent as were the cocktails and were reasonably priced. The room was clean, cool and spacious and I would recommend this hotel. The only slight issue was the distance from the centre of town which did need a tuk tuk trip there and back unless you were going to arrive really sweaty. Tuk tuks plentiful outside the hotel and the price seemed to be $2 into Pub Street and $3 back. I did not sample the massages at the hotel but a friend who was staying had a number and said that there were excellent and enjoyable. I visited the spa in the hotel 3 times and each time was busy, especially on week ends and after 6.30/7pm. A real mix of locals who tended to outnumber the tourists. I found many local guys to be bottoms who wanted a European top guy so if you’re bottom, it can be a tad frustrating. Some beautiful men so if you’re a top, you will have a great time. I also visited Massage 168 and had arranged via email to meet a beautiful guy from the pics they had sent me. When I arrived on Sunday afternoon, the guy at reception said the guy I wanted to meet was unavailable as his grandmother was ill! There were two other massage guys there behind a curtain and I chose a muscular one for the massage. Massage was competent but it was obvious he was just going through the motions. I ended the massage early as there was no connection and did not return. I did not find the place particularly clean either and this was probably the least pleasurable experience I have had in Asia. I also visited Gecko massage near Pub Street and chose a muscular Cambodian guy for a massage. He was very willing and enthusiastic as well as being gorgeous and this resulted in a $30 tip. This was a far better experience than the one previously. In relation to the gay scene I went to 4 places. A new bar called Rendezvous Bar has opened and this was a fun bar to meet other gay travellers. The owner, Roland, was lovely and the drinks were great, especially the gin and tonics. Also, the Thai peanut mix was to die for…I think Christian mentioned this previously on another post…you have to go to taste this as well as viewing the gorgeous bar staff, especially Mao. I met some lovely fellow travellers there and would recommend this bar as an enjoyable stop off to chat and have fun. I went to the new Miss Wong’s cocktail bar which has moved from near Pub Street to the other side of the river. It is a beautiful old house setting and the cocktails were some of the best I had on my Asia visit. Not particularly a gay vibe, a bit formal cocktail loungy but hugely enjoyable none the less. I also visited a place the other side of the Night Market called Look@Me which seemed a bit run down, was small, on a noisy road and had no customers but this was early evening. I did not go in. Not for me. The place which was really fun was Barcode. I visited this years ago and it has got better. A great routine by the performers. When I visited three times, there was a mix of tourists and some Cambodians and the bar staff are really friendly especially some of the hot waiters. One of the muscular bar staff was so hot I and flirtatious and I wish I had followed vinapu’s tactic of tipping him $5! Maybe the next visit? The place which is not really on any guide but which was a real discovery was Home Cocktail Bar. I met an Australian guy who lives in SR for part of the year and he recommended this bar to meet gay Cambodians. It has great cocktails and food, is very reasonably priced and when I visited, packed with gay Cambodian guys who seemed to be interested in tourists. I spent three evenings there talking, flirting and getting to know some lovely local guys. Cocktails $1.50! A huge recommendation with the plus side that you get to meet locals. I found that locals are priced out of some of the other bars so this is the place to go! It was my favourite place in SR. I found that Blued was hopeless here and I had more success with Grindr with guys wanting to meet, invariably for payment. $30/40 seemed to be the going rate to meet and there are some beautiful guys in Siem Reap. When I got Tuk tuks back to Men’s at night a lot of the drivers seemed to know guys who would meet tourists for fun and some showed pictures. I did not take them up on their offers but they seemed genuine. All in all SR is a fun place to visit.2 points

Siem reap - 168 Massage
khaolakguy and one other reacted to Mohit for a topic
Planned this short trip to Siem reap n Bangkok a month before. I ventured out in SR because of Vinapu and his detailed report about his Cambodia trip. He also helped me with the location details of 168 massage. Thanks@Vinapu. I went on monday around 4pm. Place is exactly opposite Glow inn Siem reap hotel. In google maps 360 view, you will see that as Blue hatha spa. Below is the current photo of this location. Black signage shows the spa name which is hardly readable 🧐 Now about the actual experiance. At the time i went there were only 2 boyz available. Both were in their early twenties, Tbh i didnt like either as I m more into hunky men. First i thoght to step out, but changed my mind n chose the one with moustache. He took me to a massage room which was dark, had a mattress on the floor. Not very pleasant room i must say. Had attached shower n toilet. Though it was clean n bright, flush didnt work and shower had cold water 🤨 (Btw Boy was unable to speak english, so communication was a big issue.) He started massage with his clothes on. It was massage without using oil (Khmer massage is without using oil). It was less on massage strokes n more of pressing the body. After around 20 minutes i got bored as it was very monotonous, so asked him to stop and asked shamelessly if he has "anything special" to offer. (Cambodian Gay massage term i learned from Vinapu's report? 🤔) To which he somehow communicated that he can only give handjob but can not blow. Guy was a complete dud! Very unwilling to even give a good handjob. So that was a packup in next 10 Minutes. Paid $10 at the reception and $20 to boy which was not at all worth. (As they had no massage menu, before going for massage; i asked the reception guy about the tip and he said its $20) So this was my first day experiance at 168. Second day i thought to try Gecko massage..Details i ll write soon.2 points -

Kamikaze trucks - I've never seen it put that way before, but that is a perfect description. I would change "poor" lane discipline to "zero" lane discipline. Trucks are supposed to stay in the left lane, which in Thailand is the slow lane. But when they want to pass slower trucks, out they come into the next lane regardless of whether any traffic is already occupying the space they are about to enter. When they do use their turn signals, that only means a warning that they are changing lanes instantly. Often they drive in the wrong lane and stay there. For me, the safe place to be is once those trucks are behind you. I agree with Khaolakguy about being able to stop and explore whatever and wherever you want on the way to your destination. That would be a good reason to rent a car. But if what you want to do is just get from Point A to Point B, if you're not experienced driving in Thailand, I would recommend taking a bus - which would be far less expensive anyway. Besides, when making a long drive, if you haven't pre-planned those kinds of stops, how often do you really do that? One thing I believe is a must - no matter how reputable the rental company is. Take plenty of pictures of the car from every angle before driving one inch. Some of these places will try to say you damaged the car when you didn't. Some of the fly-by-night places intentionally leave damage on the car, hoping you won't notice, and then try to charge you an exorbitant price to have it repaired, and then try to intimidate you into paying it. In Thailand you need to be worried just as much, if not more, about scams than about accidents - which is why I think in most cases you are better off not renting a car.2 points

For a few bucks the most interesting person in the room there and thereafter in remembrance, not at all viewed as weaponizing privilege; rather, the life of the party, the social glue that holds it together. They’ll openly concede and manifest that view in your presence without seeming the least bit disingenuous. You won’t even have to bring your case to venue managers; just tip them. Merely show up with some greenery for your three cheers.2 points -

Never had the issue with the guy having to show his ID at the reception in Thailand. I know it happens in some high end hotels like Mandarin Oriental but I have mostly encountered that in Vietnam when traveling to Asia. Airbnb offers more space for your money and usually more privacy though I like to stay in hotels popular with gays and watch sometimes who is bring up whom or just walk the halls and hear those unequivocable noises. The biggest drawback of most Airbnbs I would say is the lack of daily housekeeping. You definitely want new towels and bedsheets if you plan to average a high daily number of guys as the traces of your sluttiness starts becoming too evident.. The guys for sure will notice and tell you, even if at the end they will still end up having sex with you.2 points

Getting between cities shouldn't be a problem. Plenty of buses and mini vans for that. I would rent a car only if you would need it for getting around at your destination. Again, taxis should take care of getting around unless you are going to a very rural area. Even then, motorbike taxis will likely be available. I would not recommend renting a car in Thailand unless it is absolutely necessary and no alternative is available. Even then, make sure you are renting from a reputable agency - with insurance. Never rent from some street corner rental. You might as well advertise yourself as "gullible farang victim". Also, if you decide to rent anyway, make sure you have a valid international driving permit and a valid driving license from your home country.2 points

Fixed your post title for you: The Begging Culture of Brasilian Sex Tourism Thailand, Colombia, Brazil, Spain, Switzerland etc... The Money Beg™ is a thing. You kind of have to get used to it. You can avoid all of this with a simple "no". If they insist, be firmer with the "no". Unless you have soft spot for the guy, I don't think this is an unreasonable response. If they really insist, I archive their chats on WhatsApp to mute them. Out of sight, out of mind. Early in my Brazil Tourism life I did ask certain GPs why certain guys do this. They say don't take it personally. They've probably have asked money from countless other former johns at the same time as they asked you. Rent is due after all. Sending these money begs are free for them, and even if only one john replied with a "yes" and sends them the money, then their money beg was worth it.2 points

Is China for peace, or Putin, or both?
Marc in Calif and one other reacted to stevenkesslar for a topic
Kudos to Wilkerson for being a voice for diplomacy. And for applauding Chinese and Russian diplomats like Wang Yi he worked with closely. He also makes a good case for why Ukraine may well end up not regaining all, or any, of the territory it has lost. His idea of putting it to a vote is not a bad idea. That said, there was a vote in 2011. Other than Crimea, in every oblast - including the four Putin says he owns now - over 80 % of the people voted for Ukrainian independence. I have to assume from that election that if a fair election were held today, they would still say they don't want to be part of Russia. It is funny listening to that. Much of what Wilkerson said about US militarism and "hegemony" has been catnip to me all my life. I was rabidly opposed to the Iraq War. So I can say with fairness that Wilkerson has a problem being the guy in the glass house throwing stones. He is the one who prepared Colin Powell's UN speech on WMD. Powell was later furious he was lied to. So Wilkerson has very good reason to be suspicious of the CIA. I could have told him that two decades ago. When he was basically scripting Powell to cheerlead the warmongers. To be blunt, Wilkerson's credibility on the matter is shit. Because he completely fucked it up and bought the bullshit on WMD when it really mattered. Maybe this is now his way of atoning for the fact that HE PERSONALLY COMPLETELY FUCKED IT UP AND FED THE US PUBLIC LIES ABOUT WMD. So I can say with credibility that I'm tired of hearing that the problem in Ukraine is "US hegemony." That sounds like a good Maoist rant to me. But people in Ukraine who had their babies bombed or had to flee don't see the problem as US or NATO hegemony. Sorry, but as much as Germany always wants to be in the middle - because it literally is in the middle - there is no evidence that Germans are protesting "US hegemony." They are protesting Putin's invasion. Period. Vlad has united the US, the EU, and NATO in a way no US President could. He has made Ukrainians detest Russia and Russians - probably for the rest of their lives. I'd love to see a referendum in these oblasts. They'd probably vote to slowly torture Murderous Vlad to death, if they could. Not very diplomatic. But very human. I applaud Wilkerson's honesty in his applauding W.'s policy of "strategic competition" with China. But, it should be pointed out that it was precisely that policy that helped destroy 6 million US factory jobs. And led to the rise of Trump as the cynical gadfly who promised to help those factory towns. But completely failed to do so. Zhou Bo says that the word "cooperation" sounds better than "competition." Great. But I basically view that as diplomatic bullshit. If China prioritized cooperation with the US over all else, the no brainer move would be for Xi to cooperate with the US and EU in condemning Putin's invasion of sovereign Ukraine. He can't do that. Why? Because he views China as being in "strategic competition" with the US. Hence his marriage of convenience with Putin. If he wants to ally with Putin to compete with the US, great. But he shouldn't be surprised when Europeans greet his pleas for cooperation and peace with skepticism, or just outright cynicism. Nobody forced Putin to invade Ukraine. I don't even buy the idea that NATO "provoked" Russia by allowing a lot of former Iron Curtain nations to seek their own security arrangements against Russia. And even if you are sympathetic to the Idea that NATO expansion "provoked" Russia, Murderous Vlad is still a strategic Bozo. He got exactly the opposite of what he wanted from NATO. That's his own fault. And nobody forced Xi to align himself as closely as he has with a strategic Bozo. If Wilkerson wants to take a hard line against US hegemony now, great. But I have been there my whole life. I wish he would have felt this way back when it mattered, and he helped Powell cheerlead at the UN for our own WMD warmongers. Defending Ukrainians after an unprovoked attack from Putin is just not the same thing.2 points -

Years ago when I stayed in BT I often spent the afternoons on the Dongtan Beach where in those days money boys were often to be found wanting action. They were not keen to travel to BT for short time , so on several occasions I took them to an ST room in the small Soi near the police box. I can’t remember the details cos it’s years ago. Another boy took me to his room in one of the older buildings in an soi off beach road. I wrote a report on one encounter for the section on this site which used to give information on boys members had enjoyed. It’s still there ! This is a boy I took to the room a couple of times. It’s not my picture but maybe long standing members will remember him1 point -

I am actually surprised by the question and the solutions proposed. Why wouldn’t you get an extra room, like a $20 per day hotel room, for two days, on booking.com? There are plenty to chose from in the area, and it is not just a few hours with one single boy, you can keep the key and go with every boy until you are satiated. it is a little more than what you paid, but frankly if you could afford the flight to Thailand but cannot afford $40 to have the peace of mind that having your own room gives, and no silly deadline like 2 am, I am not sure what is going on in your finances.1 point

Alex Murdaugh guilty!
Ruthrieston reacted to reader for a topic
I believe the interest both in the media and the public stems from the entitlement that was accorded to a powerful family that had succeeded in making it immune from responsibility for a series of incidents until it finally become too much to stomach. It reminds be in a way of the Red Bull cop-killer evaded justice in Thailand. Well before the elder Murdaugh murdered his wife and youngest son, authorities had looked the other way in three deaths: a teenage girl who died in a boat accident; the family's long-time housekeeper who died under suspicious circumstances; and again in the death of Stephen Smith described above. The crimes extended to Murdaugh's brothers who ran the law firm and at least one other attorney now accused of defrauding clients of over eight million dollars. In the death of Smith, state police were convinced that it was a homicide but the coroner ruled that he was struck by the side mirror of a passing car despite any evidence that a vehicle was involved. There's a generalized sense of public outrage that grows as more is revealed about the family's crimes over an extended period.1 point -

Having been driving in Thailand for 20 years or so, and I'm no spring chicken, it's always a relief to pull in to the Moo Baan with both the car and its driver in one piece. Driving here in Chiang Mai is more of a nightmare than in Bangkok, where there are fewer bikes and probably a higher proportion of drivers with licences. If we fly down to one of the islands it means picking up a car at the airport, but this is more difficult since Covid as my preferred, and only, rental company has greatly reduced its fleet and its locations. Having my own car I seldom need to rent these days but in the past in CM, Phuket, Krabi and Surat Thani (I refuse to pay the Bangkok Airways premium for the privilege of flying to Samui) I have had exemplary service from 'ThaiRent acar' and no problems.1 point -
