Many gringos show off intentionally or not, about their jobs, travels, clothes, homes, cars, etc.... Going to eat with guys at fancy places and spending more on a meal than they could make in a normal job in 2-4 weeks. That's where they get that impression....and many have received money to pay their rent, motorcycle accident expenses- real or not, and countless gifts just for asking. Not a bad deal for free and only for the asking, what do they have to lose , lol3 points -

Did you enjoy the visit to Salvador? For me the city is fascinating, but I got so many warnings from locals on the streets and in shops, I never felt comfortable. Had a good time in one of the saunas, beautiful men and mostly pleasant to be with. One tried to bully me into giving him more money and he made me nervous. I just kept telling myself he won't assault me in the sauna if it's a regular source of income for him. He was incredibly beautiful physically, but actually seemed sinister. From Salvador I went to Boipeba south of the city. It was the offseason and almost all the tourist places were closed. The only close to regular vehicle was a jeep owned by the police. Some ATVs and a farm tractor that towed a wagon... full of drunk young city fellows one afternoon catcalling the young women on the street, people were laughing at them so I don't think they were offensive. A few hours later it came back, they were all more or less passed out in the wagon. It was kind of surreal. These golden young men in shorts and sandals sort of piled on top of each other. This was just before the start of the 2014 World Cup and pre-tournament exhibition games had started. As I walked by one of the small homes, the front door, just a few feet from the street was open and I saw the whole family, mom, dad and maybe three kids squished into a tiny couch, watching a game. I was raised in the Canadian version of that working class family and everybody was poor in those days and we did everything together as a family, including watching Hockey Night in Canada on Saturday evenings, us kids all squished into the couch. Mom always made hamburgers and it was the only time we were allowed to eat in the living room. It's funny as I move into old age how a lot of old memories are coming back.2 points

My experience has been that it's the garoto who takes my wrist identification bracelet to the cashier or desk attendant (at 117, as an example) to get the room assignment. I've always been present to nod my head to the desk attendant for the charge to be added to my account and paid at the end of the visit. Rooms can be in short supply, so I don't imagine a situation where I'd be given a key and then take whatever amount of time it takes to find someone I'm attracted to.2 points

Changes in store for Suvarnabhumi in March
splinter1949 and one other reacted to reader for a topic
From National News Bureau of Thailand Passengers Urged to Arrive Early Amid Potential Delays Suvarnabhumi International Airport has started rolling out upgrades to its security screening facility at its departure terminal. The airport also warned departing passengers of potential delays as checkpoints are partially closed due to this renovation. Suvarnabhumi Airport has advised departing passengers of potential delays caused by renovation work at its security checkpoints where new equipment is being installed. The airport is in the process of adding an automated tray return system at security checkpoints, where departing passengers are required to have their carry-on bags scanned for prohibited items. The new tray system will help double the capacity at checkpoints from 3,300 passengers per hour to 6,650. Once in operation, passengers can expect a faster process and less congestion at the airport. To handle the current situation, the airport said it is deploying additional staff members to help passengers and has coordinated with immigration police to ensure a sufficient number of personnel at passport control. Nonetheless, departing passengers are advised to arrive at least 3 hours before departure time in order to avoid any unexpected situations.2 points -
Sao Paulo - Report Feb 2023
Connordrick reacted to KJ1993 for a topic
Hi guys, I'm on the plane heading back to London with 11 hours to kill so thought I'd use the time to share my thoughts on my first ever trip to Brasil. I hope it proves useful to someone who may soon be going for the first time, or anyone who cares to read it. Sorry if it's a bit long-winded but feel free to stop reading if you lose interest haha! For context I spent 5 days in SP and 4 days in Rio. Consider this trip an early 30th birthday present to myself lol. Sao Paulo Arriving in Guarulhous was straight-forward and without issue. Despite countless Taxi offers, I couldn't resist paying 4.40 reals for a train ticket to downtown Paulista. Plus the weather was great and I got to see the surroundings. FYI, the ticket offices for the metro only take cash or Brazilian debit cards. On average Brazilians are much better looking than your average westerner (no offence) and within an hour of landing I was already drooling over some heavenly specimens. l don't know if its the genes, the food, the weather, the mix of indingenous cultures or all of the above, but they"re clearly doing something right. Alot of Brazilians also seem to have very good teeth, both natural and veneers. After checking in to my airbnb in Avenida Paulista, I took a shower and explored the local surroundings. In the sunshine Paulista Avenue really is a sight to behold. I'd made prior arrangements with a hunk from garotolocal, potentially risky I know, but along with all the positive reviews and the security measures at the Airbnb I decided to go for it. Despite not having any issues myself, I would recommend sticking to saunas initially until you have some trustworthy connections. A few Brazilians here told me about the potential risks of using sites, even trusted ones. If you must use sites, check reviews, instagram, only fans, etc for evidence of an online presence. I booked an airbnb that was ok with visitors so I would have no awkward issues. Being super paranoid, I also removed any potentially dangerous items out of sight - sharp cooking utensils, irons, broomsticks etc I would also recommend hiding your passport and other belongings or putting them in a safe if available. I also let the garoto know beforehand that the apartement has security and is full of cameras for both our protection just in case they try anything dodgy. Security out of the way, Mr X arrives. Beautifully proportioned muscular frame with tanned caramel skin, arms and pecs bulging through his tight army tshirt. He was perfect for me as I'm into muscle but not overblown steroid-type muscle e.g. Simeon Panda or The Rock etc. He slowly removes his shirt to expose the perfect amount of chest fuzz before moving closer to touch me, what a sight to behold. I won't go into the nitty gritty but let's just say it was a good first night haha. To make it even better, he accepts card! FYI the Pound GBP Ā£ goes a veryyy long way here, I think it's around 6 reais to 1. And that's with the pound being weak at the minute. I would highly recommend Chase banking as they guarantee the mastercard rate of exchange on all card payments, as well as 1% cashback on all purchases, no withdrawal fees either although some Brazilian banks will charge you a small amount. Also FYI, if you're going to be 'passivo', make sure its clean down there as I've noticed a fair few Brazilian GPs have a habit of checking the condom after sex haha. Brazilians in general tend to be very clean and hygienic, the ones I came across at least. All of them to smell great and use mouthwash etc, especially if they smoke. The next day after doing a few touristy bits, I decided to head to Lagoa. If you're a foody and enjoy the arts, culture, restaurants, bars, museums etc then you really cannot beat SP. I enjoy sex but it wasn't the only reason for my visit to Brasil. Beyond Paulisita, SP is not the most aesthetically pleasing city but its full of charm and has something unique to do around every corner. I wouldn't have it any other way. Check out Ibirapuera park on a satuday morning/afternoon to see lots of white topless, hunky, sweaty middle-class brasilians going for a morning run lmao. I was really nervous heading into Lagoa as I'd never been to any kind of sauna before and had no idea what to expect. I got changed into a towel and began to explore. At first it wasn't explicity obvious to me who was a GP and who wasn't (except for the guys stroking their dicks in a corner for all to see). Without trying to brag - I promise - I am in pretty decent shape and was approached by guys who either thought I was a GP, or they knew I was a client like them but wanted to try their luck regardless. And to be fair, there were some sexy customers too! Next tip, as you probably know, learn some portuguese before you come here, at least the basics. Ideally, invest in a language course, I definitely will get some lessons before my next trip. I can't emphasise this enough, especially for emergencies as google translate may not always be available, nor will it always be safe to pull your phone out. English really does not cut it here in around 85% of situations. I am by no means fluent but I spent about 3 weeks beforehand learning the basics. I do speak French so this was a massive help in terms of vocab and sentence structure etc, lots of words are very similar. Knowing Spanish is better than knowing English, but again invest in learning portuguese. Plus, I get the vibe Brazilians don't really like it when you expect them to speak Spanish - so yeah, learn Portuguese. It will also make your experience 10x more enjoyable. In terms of Lagoa, due to previous posts on here I had lowered my expectations. However as it was my first time I had nothing to compare it to and went with an open mind. I was pleasantly surprised, there was a mix of everything from muscular brazilian jocks, to bodybuilders on steroids to athletic swimmer body guy next door types, to slim twinks. There really was something for everyone. If you're into pure muscle then it doesn't beat 117 in Rio (will discuss Rio in a separate post hopefully) but you'll still find a few decent studs here to make it worthwhile. I am quite shy and had no intention of approaching anyone. The best I could muster was a smile and an extended gaze when walking past someone hot. I got myself a drink and made my way upstairs and awkwardly sat in a small side area where some straight porn was playing on a big-screen TV. One or two average GPs approached but I politely declined. Then after about 15 minutes, I made eye contact with a stunning muscular beauty, dark brown maroon skin, about 6 ft 2, looks around 25 - 30 years old, abs with some fur that could literally grate cheese, beefy pecs that you could squeeze and kiss for eternity, perfectly proportioned arms - amazing. For me this was the peak of muscular beauty - not too steroidy - just right. My absolute limit would be Joao Humberto, the gogo dancer who frequents Lagoa, even though he is clearly juicing I still find him insanely sexy. After making eye contact with the guy and smiling, he smiles back and comes to sit next to me. He doesn't actually say anything initially for about 2 minutes. I work out that we're both quite shy. After a couple of minutes he speaks.... 'how are you doing?'... in English. Either he knows I'm a foreigner or he's overheard me speaking broken portuguese somewhere in the sauna lmao. We chat for around 5 minutes with a mix of basic english, portuguese and google translate. Then the moment of truth, he starts bouncing his bulging pecs and asks me if I like what I see. I was sold at this point and there was no going back. This guy is very smooth. Some Brazilians guys really are naturally very charming. He is top and asks for 200 reals. I agree without hesitation and we make our way to a room. Again I'll leave the nitty gritty to your imagination but lets just say he took my number and we had another a session the following day haha Brazil really is amazing! After the session he heads home as he has a fair way to go. I go back to the bar feeling a bit more relaxed. I'm approached by an athletic mixed guy, not my type at all but he's persistent and I'm happy to entertain his chat. Btw I am being deliberately vague as to the personal details of the guys purely out of respect and their discretion. Long story short, me and the guy end up chatting for about an hour like two old friends. We're of a similar age and have similar interests. He's actually straight and only does sauna work to help support his family. I tell him that we're buddies and a programa isn't going to happen but I give him some money to help him out with some personal things. We exchange numbers and he becomes my defacto tour guide of SP over the next few days. He even drives me to a (straight) whorehouse in downtown Republica, very seedy lol. Be very careful if you go to Republica in the evening, or even getting into cars of unknown people. I took a risk here. I hate labels but if we have to use one, you could call me bisexual. We both enjoy the same girl at the brothel for only 40 reais each. A cute carioca from Rio with a big bunda (ass)! Another word of caution, especially in the context of GPs both inside and outside the sauna, they will always have a sob story and will continue to beg for your financial aid. It did become really onerous (especially in Rio) so just be careful and don't let people take advantage of you. I had to block one or two GPs from Rio because the begging just got more and more ridiculous, not to mention rude. It was clear they were only interested in money. A part of me feels sorry for them as life is tough over there. I went to a friend's place in Ipanema and his living conditions honestly broke my heart. I believe he was paying alot per month for the luxury of a shoe-box room with a shared bathroom and toilet. Tbf the view of Ipanema beach was great. I'm told by Brazilians that the average monthtly salary in Brazil is around 1000 to 1500 reals for blue collar work, and around 3000 reals for a working professional. Lots of them seem to have side hustles to supplement their income. From a money perspective we in the west sometimes don't realise just how fortunate we are. On the other hand, there is a correct way of asking for things - to be clear I have no issue helping out GPs in genuine need if it's done with respect and good grace - don't take the piss and try to take advantage of me. Any decent GP asking for money outside of their services will do so respectfully and is often embarrased to ask. They'll often say something like 'i'd appreciate anything you can help me with for X reason etc' In terms of GPs, I made some amazing new connections/friends in Brazil but only a small minority of these are not underpinned by a financial dynamic. Yes you can get free sex online, at bars, beaches etc but obviously its way more effort and is not guaranteed. Furthermore, I am told (by Brazilians) that Grindr in Brazil is becoming increasingly dangerous so again be careful using it. The following day and another trip to Lagoa - after some more touristy stuff. This time I've got my GP buddy with me as a wingman haha. Obviously I will tip him lol. Today I take a seat in the bar and watch some football (soccer) on the big screen upstairs. Brazil's under 21s are playing. I nip downstairs quickly to check something in my locker when I see the most delicious slice of white Brazilian hunk known to man. About 6 ft 1, massive shoulders, pecs, arms, creamy white skin and big full juicy red nipples, no signs of steroid use, what more could you ask for? His face isn't the best in the world but for that body I honestly don't care. We make brief eye contact but he seems to be chatting to another client. For now, he is the only guy on my radar. It's about 9pm and a few minutes later I see him putting his clothes back on in the changing room, my heart sinks as I think he's leaving. I head back upstairs to meet my GP buddy who seems to be struggling for clients recently. I tell him about the GP downstairs and he jets off to try and help me out. A few minutes later, my buddy comes back with the white hunk who could rival Hercules himself, my heart is racing. 'Obrigao irmao' I whisper to my wingman and tip him 50Reals. Hercules pulls me to one side and begins to chat in portuguese, I do my best to understand him but google translator is definitely needed. After brief small talk, I ask him how much he wants. '300?' he replies. I was hoping for less but no way was I about to negociate with this hunk and risk losing him. I agree and we head off to a cabin. The sex is decent, not amazing but it fulfills my fantasy of the hunky white personal trainer at the gym I've always wanted to bang. He's also a good kisser, as are all the Brazilian guys Ive been with, even the ones who are straight/Bi/top only etc. After a steamy session he tells me about his life and we discuss the gap between rich and poor in Brazil. He asks me if I'll be back tomorrow to which I reply 'yeah I should be' even though I was undecided at that point. We bid each other farewell and he leaves Lagoa for the night. After my encounter with Hercules, My GP buddy comes back to greet me. I thank him again for helping me out and we have a chat about gogo boys. He says it is possible to get one if you know the right people and he seems to be confident he can arrange it for me if the specific gogo boy was at the sauna. Other GPs also told me that gogo dancers are available for programas if approached discreetly and in the right way, but it goes without saying you will pay more. I did try contacting one or two on instagram but they have so many followers it's tricky getting them to even see your message. Alas, my dream of bedding Joao Humberto or Lipe remains alive, hopefully next time now that I have my wingman and some new tips. The following day, I'm all sexed out and I needed to get Ready for Rio. A GP/friend (a guy from a site i'd met a couple days ago for a quick session - yes risky I know) invited me to his place to smoke some weed in Vila Madalena. Under no circumstances would I ever suggest going back to a guy's place in Brazil unless you are 100% sure you know them well, especially in light of recent events at 117 in Rio. In hindsight this was probably a lapse of judgement but ironically this GP is now one of my few genuine friends where money doesn't dictate our relationship. He did have ID the first time I saw him and has a stable job, after sex we ended up speaking like old friends for hours. I trusted him somewhat then but now I trust him completely and we've made plans to travel to other parts of Brazil together next time. But I reiterate, under no circumstances should you go back to a guy's place unless you are 100% sure they can be trusted or you know them very well. It's just not worth taking the risk. Furthermore, make sure their building has security cameras and a concierge. I'm not really a smoker, but we had some weed at his place, some drinks and a bit of foreplay all before I headed off to the coach station to catch a bus to Rio! Another word of caution, there are young guys on Avenida Paulista riding around on bicyles stealing phones, bags, hats etc. I saw it happen to a gringo right outside Mcdonalds so be sure to keep your valuables out of sight and secure. I used a fanny pack which works pretty well. If you really need to use your phone, e.g. to check on an uber etc - do it quickly and keep your wits about you, ideally go into a shop, restaurant, shopping area etc. If none of these are nearby then stand up against a wall so you have no blindspots. You will get into the habit of being careful with your phone in Brazil. It's such a contrast to London or other big western cities where you can safely be on your phone at every given moment in practically any given location. Most places take card but I would recommend having some cash to hand, especially because ATM/cash machines in SP are few and far between and they tend to close around 8pm (the ones inside the banks). Also most GPs only take Cash or PIX ( a Brazilian money transfer service which only Brasilians can use). Lastly, unless you want to destroy your Uber rating, don't slam the Uber doors lmao. The Ubers are also dirttt cheap out there. To sum up, I had a blast in SP and will defo be back either this year or early next year God willing. I hope somebody finds this report useful, when I get some time I will try and do one for Rio. Currently waiting for a connecting flight to London in Lisboa, damn they have some seriously hot Portuguese immigration officers here haha.1 point -

There are guys who rely on money earned from play-for-pay interactions, and guys who occasionally or frequently offer their talents in a less professional way. In Rio de Janeiro, in Club 117, I've had sex with what I'd describe as professional sex workers ... and others who infrequently engage in GP trade. It may be difficult to discern in advance, but I prefer the "infrequent" garoto. In my 70+ years of life, I've befriended many guys who I first met in a play-for-pay transaction. Some have become good friends. Most of these friendships have been in Chicago, Mexico City or Acapulco. I have and do place the interactions in separate compartments ... successfully ... and oftentimes they are "friends with benefits" (no money exchanged for the sex). But, always, something is exchanged ("in kind").1 point -

Iām going to have to agree with @KJ1993 on this one, though. The default assumption is that because youāre a gringo tourist, you have disposable income that puts you in the top 5% of Brazilians. Although it might help a bit to ādress downā, it doesnāt much matter that youāre not flashy with your accoutrements ā you can travel globally (often), you can rent a hotel or an AirBnB, and you can pay for fun, non-essential things like 70R sauna entrance fees and drinks. In the mind of an average Brazilian who earns only $540 USD a month, while those in minimum wage jobs earn a ghastly $250 USD a month, you might as well be Warren Buffett.1 point -

Well, yeah, I ask all the time. Like you, over time, meaning well over a decade at this point, Iāve developed a preference for dates ending up outside the saunas ā mainly because I donāt really like the suites and I donāt like clock-watching. And I just donāt find a whole lot of my preferred type whoād take your proposed deal at or around that rate. Even if you just throw in a nice meal, which we as clients consider an add-on not garotos, and then get to the meat of the matter (time spent at your apartment, plus sexy time), the bare minimum rate is going to definitely be more than a R $200 rate (right now, about what these kinds of guys are asking for 30-40 minutes inside the sauna). Some of them will accept a package rate thatās higher and includes all time spent, but some will want to start and stop the clock at all time spent ā no matter if itās just forks going in mouths, or dicks. Yeah, the type of garotos that you go after are never on my radar, either. I am fairly strict in my attraction, and almost never waver (because, thankfully, itās not necessary in Brazil!). But your type of garotos approach me a lot, and some of my client buddies are into the same, so I know that the ones Iām into do like to place themselves in a (slightly) higher price tier than the āboy next door typesā ā most likely because itās what the market will bear for them, not just an ego trip. I know only one (now former) sauna garoto who I deal with who would gladly take only R $200 for a night from me ā but that always came with some complications. The rest are in a higher category ā double, triple, and upwards. And to be honest, Iād feel some kind of way for only giving someone who is working for their living what amounts to $38 USD for a full night of their time.1 point -

They've had a tough few years over there with their economy falling apart and tourism hitting the skids. He's got kids in school and a family to support so it wasn't a surprise when he contacted me asking for help. I did send him some money. Lots of desperate people in many countries. Pattaya bookshop clocks up 20 years
splinter1949 reacted to reader for a topic
From Pattaya Mail By Barry Kenyon The cityās unique book exchange with soft-drinks cafeteria is more popular than ever after being advised it would likely face closure. Canterbury-born Dave Collier, who runs the enterprise with his wife Yao said, āWe were told many years ago that the internet and electronic books would doom a business venture like Canterbury Tales. In reality, we have expanded dramatically with more than 60,000 second-hand books being bought, borrowed and traded on a regular basis.ā He adds that the shop never closed during the recent covid pandemic and still hosts a traditional gossip shop for UK expats every Monday. The internet has actually turned out a boon rather than a threat. āWe regularly use Facebook to promote the business with regular updates and reviews of new arrivals,ā explains Dave, āwhilst our new premises in Soi Bongkot are much bigger and quieter than the old premises in Soi Pothole.ā Canterbury Tales moved last September away from a bar and club district to a brighter and more reader-friendly district a couple of kilometers away. āWe get a lot more foreign ladies and couples dropping in since the move.ā The bookshop stock, which also houses a small selection of classic DVDs, is around 50-50 fiction and non-fiction. Wandering around the aisles and checking the shelves is an evocative delving experience with some rare finds. There are lots of books about Thailand and Pattaya including the very first exposure of the sex industry: Jack Reynoldsā āA Woman of Bangkokā published in 1956 and described as a ābrutally frank story that will shock and enthrall.ā And where else in Thailand might you find classics such as Homerās Iliad and Odyssey, or a paperback highlighting the ten most ugly towns and cities in the UK? The books are mostly given or traded in by local expats, although Canterbury Tales now receives bulk donations and job lots from the estates of expats who have died. āWe also ship orders all over Thailand as we have developed a niche market,ā explains Dave. The book sections partially reflect the expat community population in Pattaya. For example, there are lots of volumes on the Vietnam war, recalling the arrival of many American expats during and after that conflict, plus an unexpected influx of medical books which may reflect the preoccupations of ageing expats more generally. The store is arranged alphabetically, though thatās more of a theory than a guarantee. The real deal is to wander and browse. On your right might be a large choice of horror fiction from Frankenstein to Stephen King and beyond, on your left science fiction and fantasy which go well together. European languages other than English are also represented, especially paperback novels. High on the shelves might be a history of football and a guide to self-improvement in golf, whilst lower down youāll come across biographies of famous public executioners such as Albert Pierrepoint. Canterbury Tales is open daily 10 am to around 5 pm. Check Dave out on Facebook, or phone 086 575 4966.1 point -

Many of the bars have "massage rooms", but often for boys and customers from that bar. @home bar for instance. Alternatively, there is a short time hotel near Masala Twist, on Jomtien 2nd Road. I cant recall the name but they have a big sign. There is also one in Rompo just past the barber shops, but I don't know much about it.1 point -

From Pattaya Mail The deputy commander of Thailandās Tourist Police Division told Pattaya officers to respond quickly to problems and to learn from prepandemic challenges so that they donāt reoccur. Pol. Maj. Gen. Pongsiam Meekanthong met with Pattaya officers Feb. 22 before heading out to check Bali Hai Pier. He inspected boats to ensure life jackets were being used and that boats were running on time. Pongsiam said that, since Thailand reopened last year, the Tourist Police Division has ramped up efforts to protect tourists, doing everything from launching its 1155 hotline to putting ādos and donātsā signs in hotels to warn Pattaya visitors about pickpockets and other street criminals. Pongsiam said now that Chinese tourists are returning to Thailand, even more care must be taken. He personally planned to be at U-Tapao-Rayong-Pattaya Airport on Feb. 25 to welcome a large Chinese tour group and had checked their itinerary to ensure safety. Finally, Pongsiam said officers should review incidents that tourists had in 2019 to create processes to prevent such accidents, scams and problems from reoccurring.1 point

Some Specific Brazil Questions

If I were you, Iād consider still being firm but being kinder and gentler, so as not to come across as a rude and condescending guest in another country ā which could get you in a world of trouble with the wrong person. This weekend, at Ipanema Beach, I witnessed a beach vendor (hocking his henna tattoos) pull a knife on, and curse and yell violently at, a white, slim, and clearly visibly gay male tourist who dismissively shrugged off his sales pitch for a temporary tattoo1 point -
Day 15 and summary A left earlier. We met many times before and Iām pretty sure he noticed I like our new companion so much so he decided to give us hour or two more, just two of us and when he suggested he will go , true to form I said Ok. Sometime later mu guy said itās time for him to go and for me to do the same. Shower together , agreed tip plus 500 , he went his way , I packed my goodies and when it started dawning I was on the street catching taxi which conveniently just appeared on horizon. No drama this time , 257 baht on the meter to Swampy. He was very happy when I gave him 300 and asked to keep the change. Two or so hours later I was in the air , taking off from Thailand for 27th time. Time to summarize . I call this trip short but only because last three were almost month long but before 2 weeks was kind of standard, twice I flew just for 1 week and was surprised it worked well. It was first time I was in LOS in January and February and weather was very pleasant but last few days in beginning of February it could be sensed temperature and humidity is climbing up. Iām glad I returned to butterflying meeting only V , N in Pattaya and Maii at Jey Spa more than once. Some boys were probably disappointed , I get it , but it seemed to work for me as previously I noticed in few cases bit of complacency. I donāt like to be taken for granted even if Iām. This is not what it was supposed to be , it was supposed solid 8 days spent with CCP in Phnom Penh and Bangkok but regretfully it did not happen. I was leaving home with very high hopes, expecting great time with him but also aware that we donāt know each other really and his antics with flight change and money requests were warning signals. Few of my friends who were privy to affair from beginning , all were right ā chances are that it will not work they warned me unanimously and early on . So stupid guy at least has smart friends, no? I feel disappointed but not bitter. I tried but it did not work . Will I pursue him again ? Most likely no. Will I try once more if he will pursue me ? Most likely yes, much smarter from that experience. No money in advance , no commitment to anything more initially than night stand and only then if satisfied I may look for repeat. Will he try to contact me in the future ? I very much doubt as he may suspect Iām mad as hell. Other than that most guys I met were very good to excellent. Even Tawan boys with exception of one but their sin was with being too greedy so chances are I will put them on diet in future. Best bar this trip for me was , surprisingly to even myself , Hot Male. At one point I counted 10 boys on the stage I could off one by one. It looks I firmly start liking Jupiter, second off in row better than just satisfactory. And I donāt even count HC taken from there, He was bit of sore point of my trip in October but it looks he turned out changed man to my extreme delight. Him, N in Pattaya and guy who visited me in Phnom Penh were as close to boyfriend experience as I could wish followed by several others , not far behind. But if you ask me which of guys I met would be my choice if I had only 1 night in Bangkok it would be my last guy from Moonlight. Somehow Iām intrigued by him, I donāt know why but it must be personality I was also intrigued by no less than 3 guys at Banana, all twinks but sold themselves on their smiles. Next time I may be busy there to Lucyās delight. I donāt even mention one of their barkers, very easy on eyes indeed and guy I offed from there, another sweet treat. Whenever I return I will pursue both ā axe murderers ā I spot in ThaiRelax soi 6 and in Jomtien. Only hope they will be there. I mentioned this year is big question mark for me when comes to travel everywhere. This may mean that I may show up at Thai illustrious shores at very short notice if I will see thatās only option. As for hotels I found Okay Boutique in Phnom Penh extremely good value for money and can recommend it with clear conscience. I continue to consider Furama Sathorn Xclusive as my top find in Silom area , while still loyal to Baan Silom. Rose and particularly Le Siam were nice discoveries while shiny Ibis Styles , while impressive , I found bit overpriced for what I got . I like some space in my rooms. But Iām glad I tried them. Jet lags continue to ruin me , each time it seems to be worse and worse. Only cure are longer trips and less hectic schedule in the first week. Or staying home , obviously not an option. Even with stress and disappointment this trip belongs definitely to better half of my trips so far.1 point

Day 8 When parting in the morning I upped his tip by savings on his meal last night and even pointed it to him. Hope word spreads that it pays not to be too glutenous. At 9 am met farang friend in cafĆ© near Mahanakhon, we had talk till 11 and resolved to go to train market after tomorrow , agreed to meet at Wongwian Yai station in time for 10.40 train. Then I had mission as I got suspicion from combing Grindr that one on my best guy ever, certain M from Senso is working as hairdresser in one of shops in Rama IX Central. So jumped on MRT and soon was combing that sizable mall in search of hairdresser shops. Unfortunately did not spot him, perhaps too early , or his day off or whatever. Will try next time in Bangkok as I donāt give up on him easily. Being in area went to Ratchada train market but it was too early and shops were closed but walking there I found 10 baht coin so at least my efforts paid of. Next step was to have massage at new shop of 9-Teen in soi 6 with guy who was resident masseur in Tawan last year , now task taken by Mas , their resident twink. New shop is quite impressive, well designed and everything smells new. Word is that massage is proper , just like Prime around the corner without any sinister moves. Letās say I decline comment on that , I liked my massage session only conclusion was bit unnerving since my guy wanted higher tip than I offered. I succumbed to request but it will be while before he will see me if at all. As much as I like Tawan and their boys , I built reputation there as handy money dispenser. I know itās my fault but it starts hurting me so perhaps itās time to switch that pain to guys and show them that greed is not good for their financial health. But thatās for future as that massage reminded me that this trip I did not go to Tawan yet so resolved to pay them a visit tonight. But first a dinner, this time in GāBangkok in soi 4 . they have one fusion German -Thai dish in casserole I like so much. Donāt remember name of it but on the page where they list fusion servings thatās the one in the very bottom. Next step was my daily drink with P at Hot Male and after a while there I walked to Tawan. It was nice to be greeted by all those smiles and handshakes, less nice to fend off all those palms stretched for tips. Today my tips were reserved for performers in the show but yes , I bought drinks for 3 guys sitting with me including K and B whom I offed few times in the past. I was bit surprised , Kās cousin waitress in Happy Beer did not spy on me as he was not aware Iām in Bangkok. I always admire Thai discretion. Show as always was quite brave and very modern including not one but two special shows and usual JO competition so I dispensed 9 red notes for their efforts. K remembered that in Dec on his birthday I promised him to buy him whisky so I decided to off him tonight, invited him for a dinner in 7.5 stars and just before deadline bought him a bottle of wine as he asked for such substitution. And then to hotel for activities like knitting , stamp collection rearrangement and world peace discussions.1 point

all I know we only know about them as much as they told us. The same works other way. I personally am not that critical and as reader pointed , I see young men who are trying to make living using assets they have i.e themselves and their good looks. some are quite uplifting like one of my semi-regulars , single father who use to proudly point 'I don't have girlfriend but i have a son" Other one , also mentioned often in my reports was orphaned my mother in his childhood ( my friend who also offed him overheard him mumbling to himself ' mom help me", quite moving ) and later father was killed by Thai police. Yet still managed to built a house in his native village, whatever it is he calls a house. Personally when I think about them I avoid generalizations. Not all are poor or coming from poor backround. I know about 4 who have a car. One has small business, other one owns a condo. few , judging but how they speak English have quite extensive education. By no means they are prevailing examples but they do exist. One who has steady job but paying only 10200 per month freely admits he goes with clients for easy money. Sleepless night bringing him 3000 it's almost 1/3 of his monthly take after all The same applies to us, their clients. Our motivations to engage in the world of paid sex half world from home are very different and sometimes not even clear to ourselves I suspect. Some like Asians, some like sex far from home, some like to avoid any commitments (old saying 'most expensive sex is free one). It will be sex addicts and those who treat sex as vacation adventure. And it will be those like me who fruitlessly search for dream guy who can be offed for hand holding session only. Such dream guys are existing but it seems heat of the moment always derails hand holding only part.1 point

Your experience calls to mind a sports analogy. Although Man U is one of football's great clubs, on very rare occasions it takes the pitch but fails to score. Some might call it karma or just the odds of playing the game. And like that storied team, you surprise none of us by your penchant for picking yourself up and moving from setback to new beginning.1 point

Very practical questions. My experience: 1. If you're going to buy a phone for the trip, but something used that draws less attention. 2. I understand Uber eats left Brazil. iFood is big but will not process international payments, at least never for me. I tend to use rappi but the selection is sometimes limited. 3. I try to use my phone to pay for most things using Google Pay. It's quick, works almost everywhere and I have not had my card cloned this way. For cash money, i like the ATMs inside any big, big bank during the day. There are guards inside and it's safer than street ATMs. There is also a big group of ATMs at GRU as you exit the international terminal. It's relatively safe to get cash there. I don't use money traders myself. 4. Love Airbnb's! I've never had an issue after seven or eight trips to Rio. 5. I've seen the kiosk in Rio and I'm SP, sometimes it's staffed sometimes not. If you can, just get Google Fi, then ask for a data only chip and put that in your throwaway phone. If you must do a chip, do it at the airport and not local cell stores where you often need a CPF/national id number. 6. I suppose this depends on how you're dressed. If you're in a towel you'll have to go back and no one will be surprised or upset. You can also stay in street clothes and carry some cash with you, not recommended though. Have fun!1 point

I agree with the first part but definitely not the second. In my view it has absolutely nothing to do with being paid or not. I referenced the gogo bars 30-40 years ago when the majority of the customers were Thais. How often have you seen lots of Thais in gogo bars in the past decade or more? That has nothing to do with their not preferring to be with farang. It's a sign that as the Thailand gay scene and Thai society has developed, Thais increasingly want to be with fellow Thais rather than in bars where there are increasing number of farang. Times change. The same trend has become very obvious in other countries like Japan. As a gay bar/club/sauna culture developed in the 70s and 80s, young Japanese gays found it extremely difficult to form relationships with fellow Japanese. This reflected the long work hours of Japanese, the closeness of housing making it extremely difficult to keep any kind of MtoM sexual relationship private in a country in which the vast majority frowned on them, and overall low salaries. Gaijin generlly had large apartments in Japanese terms, far larger salaries and much more personal freedoms. Many young Japanese found it was far more convenient to live a gay lifestyle by attaching themselves to a foreigner. On my early visits to Japan, such relationships were extremely common. With Japan having become very wealthy since then, with social attitudes changing and same sex civil partnerships now legal in several parts of the country, Japanese preferring to be with fellow Japanese has rightly become much more the norm.1 point
