Cambodian mystery and Thai solution - first trip of 2023
AlexThompson and 13 others reacted to vinapu for a topic
Day 4 Contrary to what may be expected I slept quite well and would sleep even longer but at 7 am I was waked up by sound of air conditioner. Breakfast on 15th floor , included in price, I truly enjoyed food and the view . Going down, my phone sounded, it was Line message , you guessed rightly, from CCP. Repeated last night excuse about delivery and being hungry like he couldn’t say that at night he will not come. Then complained that he is stressed because of debt and it caused him to lose 5kg, fact I noticed yesterday at the airport. And noticed that I keep tight limit on his monetary requests. Next out of blue question come if during those 5 days in BKK we can make trip to Phi Phi island . I said no , I’m not planning to go outside of Bangkok . He mused ‘ why ? we have so many days” so I answered because it would cost more than I planned to spend. And I had question too ‘ what about our trip today?’ , answer was brief “ I think I cannot “ . All I could do is to say ‘ thank you for letting me know , I will ask at travel office”. Then I knew all affair is over. And as it turned so did him because my next message “ what about tomorrow? “ was never read till last day of the trip. So yes, all warning signs were like that, warning signs . it was only me who seeing those opted to ignore them feeding what my friend described as ‘ magnificent illusion” . It was magnificent indeed. But no more . I fired my tablet decided to cut my stay in PP short. Tickets for today were bit costly so I bought one for tomorrow for exactly the same flight I was supposed to take with him day later. It was my third ticket for PP-Bkk flight, first was original and second for that requested earlier flight. Also booked 1 night at Rose hotel because Baan Silom was full for the night. Wandered a bit around riverbank and downtown including magnificent Psar Thmei market but emotions and uncured jet lag conspired and early afternoon I just collapsed in bed to a sound sleep till 9 p.m. Then groomed myself a bit and went to Space Bar again skipping dinner. Hard to believe but breakfast was only meal I had today. In the bar I was greeted by my last trip companion. I did not waste time to ask him to come to my room after bar closes , idea he approved gladly. Later in course of conversation he told me that he knows I’m taking ‘big guy” with me to Bangkok. Wishing it was true indeed I said nothing. So obviously CCP spilled the beans, otherwise how he would know ?. Few rounds of drinks kept me and boys at my table in good spirits, fact is quite a few of them were hiring material if I stay longer. Tab was even higher than yesterday and again I suspect I was charged for more drinks I ordered unless boys ordered some behind my back on my tab. No complains as I had good time indeed. But it looks no end to today’s dramas. My expected companion disappeared somewhere and was nowhere to be found. I went to hotel hoping he will be waiting there but no. So lined him only to receive message that he is angry with me because he noticed I tipped few guys just for sitting , drinking and talking. Clearly PP air is not good for me this time, sigh. But I got bright idea to offer him what I’d pay CCP tonight and shortly he was on his way. What I thought as consolation price was consolation indeed. He turned out very warm and yet energetic guaranteeing sleepless steamy night for us both. Probably best of that whole trip.14 points -
thank you for your kind words. I don't mind dissecting my conduct , it's why I posted that story so others can learn and discuss. Yes I knew very well what I'm getting into, even more , CCP also knew as we discussed both 3 days in PP and 5 in BKK in detail well before I even left home. We should remember it was CCP who contacted me first as after unsuccessful attempt to lure him to Siem Reap in October I left things as they were and did not try to contact him , only when planning trip to Thailand I decided to pop into PP to see if he is still there. For me whole mystery hangs on that strange request made about a week after we started talking to go to Bangkok first, even if that was only 20 minutes earlier. From that moment, while my hopes were still very high and they were till last moment of morning of day 4 described above, I knew to expect some derailment on the way although total ghosting was not what I expected at all , if only because quite serious money for Cambodia was supposed to be dispensed. To this day nobody came with plausible explanation as why he wanted me to go separate and earlier at that.5 points

just walk arround Silom , patpong 2 , soi 6 , Suriwong , Thaniya and soi4 as after bars closed guys like to hang out or have meals with friends here and there so you may hunt somebody fairly easy, Banana had show till at least 1.30 , I was there waiting for my boy to finish shift on my first night in BKk on last trip. There were still some boys available , I know because one of them was sitting with me and was awarded 500 for allowing some indecent touches4 points

I also can't find fault in what I did other than cutting almost in half first money request and denying second but that , considering we did not even exchange handshake yet was correct thing to do. no, I did not enjoy PP this time for obvious reason, time spent at Space Bar was notable exception. What happened to the bottle will be revealed tomorrow4 points

Gaybutton board hacked
bkkmfj2648 and 3 others reacted to Gaybutton for a topic
Not yet, but Moses tells me he is almost finished. He has upgraded the board to the newest version and is moving the whole thing to a different server. He's trying to do everything he can to try to prevent this from happening again. If all goes well, I might be able to give the "green light" as soon as this weekend. Rest assured, I will post a new message when the board is open and safe to access again.4 points -
And sometimes a more obscure reason may actually be the one in play. I discount "I don't want to be seen with him" for two reasons. First, they could have just taken seats remote from one another. Second, this guy works publicly in a popular bar in he country's largest city where he can easily be observed in the company of numerous foreigners. Despite his claims he doesn't go with customers, it's fair to assume this wouldn't be his first rodeo. Then you have the mysterious "delivery" on he evening he was scheduled to meet Vinapu in PP. It's unlikely it was a shipment of dragon fruit from China. And then there was the request for a new suitcase that PC had been counting on Vinapu to deliver to him on arrival. If you were planning to bring something surreptitiously into another country, wouldn't it be nice if you could somehow get another person to carry your bag--and on a separate flight--because your own baggage exceeded what was allowed (or some other excuse). Perhaps he got cold feet at the last minute as he began to realize Vinapu wasn't about to buy such a yarn. Maybe he ended up using the ticket Vinapu had purchased for him and went about his business in Bangkok? In hindsight, it's easy to see the red flags popping up. But in the heat of the chase, we're all subject to being thrown off the scent by the cloudy mist of lust and attraction. And there's always the possibility that there was nothing untoward going on here, aside from a deceptive young man trying his best to extract rewards for services he had no intention on delivering.3 points

Is George Santos Really A Person or purely a Fiction?
stevenkesslar and 2 others reacted to NIrishGuy for a topic
While the whole situation is a sad inditement for politics in general I have to say I'm finding the whole situation hilarious and i just wish that Santos would just cut to the bottom line and open up his full on drag queen persona to the House as THAT would make for some even more hilarious results I'm sure, but of course that probably wont happen. In fact it's probably more likely that Santos will probably announce that he's actually a top Bishop of some church or other and soon to be Pope no less and / or is an Alien who has been sent by God ( or the flying spaghetti monster) to save us all from some terrible disaster!. Where upon a ton of Americans will instantly start a new religion to follow him and start building large expensive temples to worship him - and then someone will then of course shoot him as seems to be the American way these days ! Either way GO SANTOS !! He's the best weekly entertainment show to come out of Congress for years I say ! 🙂3 points -

Silly Oz! That's a trick question. The answer is both, of course. Rainbows are the symbol of Gay freedom and fun. How could we possibly live without them? And we have to be fairies in order to win our freedom and fun. Sometimes even nasty ones. Which is maybe what that thing at the other website is about. But love Trumps all, so to speak. 😉 So I'm for both, and ............... Speaking of which, I was wandering around here last night to see who is posting here, and about what. I think the last time I posted here this place may have been Boy Toy. And I saw the thread on your budding romance. I remember having a very nice discussion with you and Bill at one of Oliver's parties a long time ago, in which you educated me a bit about Thailand. Congratulations on your new relationship. They also support the war the invasion. I don't understand it anymore than I understand the mass support for Donald Trump. I think so much has to do with wanting a strong leader who in their view cares for them.3 points -

Hi Vinapu, thanks for another entertaining report!!....even if things didn't go as planned..I know how frustrating that can be! Did you have any issues / extra charges etc for joiners / visitors at Okay Boutique? I always use to stay at China Wind Hotel (aka Wind Holiday Hotel) when in Phnom Penh. It was pretty average, but I stayed there as it was easy walking / crawling distance to Toolbox Bar (my favourite bar in SEA / anywhere) and no issues with visitors. When I'd previously enquired with other nearby hotels in the area if they charged a joiner's fee they said they did, but whether that's actually enforced I have no idea. I would love to visit PP again, but haven't been back since Toolbox closed and feel I may not have much fun (or at-least any where near as much fun) there as I did previously.2 points

All I can say is that V saw Vinapu as walking ATM a big opportunity to squeeze as much money as he can from the situation once he realized that Vinapu is not a naive falang as he thought he disappeared. Sometimes sheet happens in life all we can do is forget about it and move on. Regarding that didn't V want to fly with Vinapu at the same flight I think there's simple explanation he didn’t want to be seen together with older falang .2 points

Well, a major issue is that there is little place in Russia for anyone to hear anything critical of Putin. Any reporter who would say anything critical of Putin would be either murdered or to a Siberian work camp. If Fox News were the only source of news in the US, I'd hate to think of the level of support Trump would have--probably also around 80%. Even individual protests are dealt with severely in Russia. When all you hear over and over again is what a brilliant and wonderful man Putin is, what else is there to think? At least he didn't make his whole country suffer with the "Zero Covid" policies of Xi.2 points -
Vinapu, I am sure many of us have had similar experiences with Asian men! Mine more so in the Philippines. I once invested heavily in a new friend from online with plans for him to meet me in Cebu City. He lived in Cagayan de Oro. So to make it a short story, he asked for my help with getting his Teachers Certificate, USD100. I agreed. I bought him a Ticket to fly to Cebu, USD 75. However, he said he had to change the date because of a job interview. Of course the Ticket was not refundable. So changed the Ticket, USD35. Then he sent me a sad massage, he had gone to the Airport for the flight and they would not let him board because his Photo ID was not valid. Of course I went to the Airline Office to try to resolve all this. And paid an extra fee to reissue the Ticket USD25. Finally he said his Sister would not let him fly to Cebu to meet me. At that point my plans with him were gone and so was a goodly amount of my budget. But life goes on... CHEERS2 points

again, no. It was him who raised question of money first and in plain language ' I go with you and can't work at that time , how much from you for to me ?" For PP part he made disclaimer early that he will be only available at night and even that was bit conditional as he expected to be busy during daytime. Sure there's possibility that something was lost in translation and misunderstanding could create some offence but I doubt as that is not explaining again that strange flight request made early on.2 points -

When it comes to his countrymen, though, it seems his popularity rating is as high as ever. Apparently, it was over 80% in January. I've never been to Russia and I wonder if any posters here have ever spent time in the country. I'm curious as to what separates the 80% who like Putin from the 20% who don't. Is there a difference in political awareness? Or in degree of nationalism? Or in economic wellbeing? Any insights would be welcome.2 points

Pattaya’s Little Britain
khaolakguy and one other reacted to reader for a topic
From Pattya Mail By Barry Kenyon Soi Buakhao, or White Lotus Street, is booming post-covid as the cheaper version of the more famous Walking Street. Daytime beers can cost as little as 55 baht, or just over one pound sterling. There’s an echo of knees-up Blackpool with some of Soi Buakhao’s bars and restaurants having English-sounding names: Hungry Hippo, Butcher’s Arms, Churchill’s Munchies (now seemingly closed), Nicky’s, Stag’s Head, Cheeky Monkey, Crazy Dave’s and Witherspoons to name but a few. Not that the comparison should be pressed too far: Pattaya doesn’t have a tower circus and Blackpool lacks cannabis cafes. British expats have long dominated the Pattaya bar scene in south Pattaya. Phil Gardner, a Soi Buakhao retiree for 15 years, explained, “The beer is cold and the women beautiful, so there’s nothing more to be said.” He points out that the district’s visa shops, which can simplify obtaining extensions from immigration for a fee, are especially popular with budget-minded expat Brits. New nighteries, especially go go clubs such as Lips Lounge in nearby Soi Honey, are still being launched. Nearby, Soi L.K.Metro and Tree Town are still expanding their venues specializing in female eye candy. Several are managed by Brits. So successful has Soi Buakhao become in attracting revelers that some businesses have moved out. British born Dave Collier, who runs the popular second-hand book depository Canterbury Tales with his Thai wife, moved from Soi Pothole (adjoining Buakhao) last year to a less noisy and far less hectic district a couple of miles away. Another Brit, Shaun Sharples, who started a very successful fish and chips business in Tree Town, is currently awaiting the total renovation of brand new premises some distance away. “Our business isn’t dependent on loud music blaring out from nearby clubs,” he explained. “Many of our customers want to eat in peace.” Unlike Walking Street, Soi Buakhao has a daytime life of its own. There are two bustling markets where you can buy everything from fruit and veg, microphones and flashlights to second-hand clothes, pots of glue and hair dryers. You can change currencies, visit pharmacies, massage parlors and barbershops, or watch the world go by sipping beer in open bars facing dense traffic and a lack of pavements. There are several English-sounding cafes provoking intense rivalry on Pattaya social media about which one serves the best English breakfast. Or the worst. One candidate, Cheap Charlie’s, is so successful that another branch was opened up in the Jomtien immigration street. There are some cannabis outlets in the Soi Buakhao neighborhood, though fewer than expected after decriminalization of the weed last summer. Phil Gardner said, “Many of the regulars are over 60 and often retired. They want to spend a few relaxing hours drinking with their mates or being merry with the ladies. The trouble with pot is that you smoke it for a few minutes and that’s your evening’s entertainment gone.” He also points out that gay opportunities in Soi Buakhao are limited. “You’ll find ladyboys and transvestites in some bars, but the real gay scene is centered elsewhere in Boyztown and at the Jomtien Complex.” He adds that the gender of some cross-dressers is hard to determine. “I always tell new guys to look for the Adam’s apple which means there’ll be a banana too.” That’s education Pattaya style. ================== From Pattaya News Pattaya Pioneers Free Condom Machines Named “Love Bang, Love Safe” In a bold move to promote safe sex, the Pattaya National Health Security Office (NHSO) has recently introduced a new initiative: a free condom vending machine called “Love Bang, Love Safe”. Yes, you read that right. And no, it’s not a new club or a questionable dating app. The idea behind this machine is simple: To encourage people to practice safe sex and prevent the spread of sexually transmitted infections, especially during the last Valentine’s Day, Dr. Chadet Thammathatchaaree, Secretary-General of the NHSO, said on Tuesday, February 14th. The machines are placed at three spots around the city. One is at Bali Hai Pier with a big and clear message emblazoned at the front that says “Love Bang, Love Safe (เลิฟปัง รักปลอดภัย)”. Well, although the message is meant to be creative and informative, it also has a certain cheeky charm to it that makes it hard to ignore. Dr. Chadet said the machines will pop out a brightly colored condom after pressing some buttons. The condom is part of the gold card universal health care program and is totally free. Dr. Chadet revealed that the response to this machine so far has been overwhelmingly positive because of its convenience and accessibility. Five sizes are available.2 points -

In his column in today's Pattaya Mail, Barry Kenyon reports that expats will not be exempt from the fee. "Some press reports maintain that “expats” in general will be exempt. In reality, long stay retirees, married foreigners, Elite card holders and students have not been given an opt-out. The term “expat” in this context means “those paying Thai income tax on earnings” and rules out any foreigners without a blue book issued by the Department of Employment – with the exception of diplomatic passport holders and infants. With tourism again booming in Thailand, up to 4 million baht may be gathered for the Thai treasury in under a year. The money will spent mainly on improving tourist infrastructure, according to previous remarks by the Tourist Authority of Thailand, but around 10 percent will be available on a discretionary basis for public hospitals which have failed to get seriously ill or deceased foreign patients to pay their bills. The policy does not mean that foreigners in any shape or form will be relieved of the need to buy medical insurance. The fund is not a welfare scheme and hospital compensation will be limited to special or notorious cases, such as major traffic accidents or environmental disasters with multiple loss of life, for which special permission from the government will need to be sought by the hospital in question. There will likely be further clarification of the detail once the policy is publicized in the Royal Gazette. Worldwide, travel taxes are becoming more common. Bali already has such a tax added on to all flight tickets, whilst the Philippines wants to introduce one to develop “local culture”. The European Union will tax non-EU nationals by November 2023 but will exempt babies and those over 70. Many Caribbean destinations already charge an entry fee, ranging from US$12 to US$50."1 point

QAnon Connection to "Company of Men"
stevenkesslar reacted to unicorn for a topic
On your first statement, I think the key is to attack the statement, not the poster. We've had mild disagreements, but never anything serious. There are some posters, such as L2P and E2G, who often posted stuff which was stupid, but I would always say "What you're saying is stupid," not "You're stupid." I didn't even think they were stupid people, just that they posted a lot of dumb things, especially out of their fields of knowledge. I could respect them, even if they made dumb statements in areas such as science or medicine. Yet when they attacked me, it was often personal, with their calling me names such as "Dr. Seuss" (instead of trying to refute data I provided with alternative data or alternative explanations for the data). And you're also correct that Bill was quite obsessive and neurotic when it came to children. I once posted a photo of a model from the model's Facebook page, and didn't even notice that one of his clothed children was in the background. I think I was banned for 3 months, and told I'd be banned permanently if there were any photo of any children in anything I posted. This was super-neurotic and nonsensical. Absolutely no one except a nut would have interpreted that in a childhood sensual way. I also remember how he pitched a fit just when someone mentioned one of his childhood experiences. One had to scan every photo to make sure there were no children in the background, and go over every post to make sure there wasn't even a tangential mention of childhood. At least that got better quickly with the new management, but the "off-topic" obsession replaced it. This latest obsession may result in the website losing its relevance.1 point -

Well, I know that a number of moderators from that website had a meeting last week in Florida. I suspect it was decided at that meeting. Although I enjoyed that politics forum, I don't even know the scope of the problem. The owner said they were spending "hours" each week with moderating duties in the political forum. Given that they have at least 6 moderators, that time commitment doesn't seem unreasonable, in order to keep the forum alive. Of course, as other of their members pointed out, there were probably some smarter ways to go about the problem, such as at first temporarily, then permanently barring particularly troublesome members from the politics forum. Another issue with that website has been an obsessive compulsion to weed out any posting which was considered "off-topic." Until about a year ago, going "off-topic" was only forbidden if the original poster specifically asked that only on-topic discussions occurred, and that had to be in the poster's original (first) post. This obsession, which was applied to some but not all posters, became weaponized, as any tangent would lead to complaints from people who were losing arguments. I suspect that most of the time spent was in dealing with complaints and weeding out of postings which drifted from the original subject. In my opinion, it is the sign of an interesting string when subjects drift. Also, if the posts drifted too much, they could have just removed them without applying "points" to members, which can quickly add up and leading to the person being banned. I have a feeling that this heavy-handed moderation is going to lead to people drifting away from that website. There was actually a whole string discussing interesting posters who'd been chased away. Any hint of criticism of moderators' actions on that string ended up being dealt with severely. Well, a website should exist for the benefit of the members, not just the moderators. There may be few left there after some time, and the moderators can then rejoice at not having to do any work, since they'll be the only ones left.1 point -

no need to add drama to the story. First , If I send him 200$ without asking anything in exchange few weeks prior he knew I'm serious. Second whole idea of picking me up from airport was mine because.... Third from beginning and this is what he asked for because of work as personal trainer during day , idea was that days in PP are mine and nights are ours. Only when I suggested I want to take two day trips and can use him and his car for that instead of travel office he promised to arrange his affairs so we can go together. Fourth, I asked if he can go upstairs for an hour or so but he declined because he had some session at 7 and I knew about it beforehand so it was just courtesy on my side. Fifth, trip from airport was paid as again , I suggested that if he has time he can pick me up so I can spend money on him instead of taxi. I made many costly mistakes in this affair but that arrival arrangement was basically what we both agreed on well before I set off from Bangkok so no, I don't see my fault here1 point

From one King to another

From Pattaya Mail HM King Bumibol and Queen Sirikit both music aficionados met with Elvis Presley on the set of G.I. Blues during their visit to Paramount Studies. On this occasion HM King Bhumibol presented Elvis with a combined cigarette and lighter case produced by the Thai Nakorn company. This company was the best silversmith in Bangkok at the time and were bestowed the Garuda emblem by HM the King. The engraving on the front of the box read, “To Elvis Presley Hollywood 1960” and on the inside of the box, the words “King Bhumibol Adulyadej To the King of Rock ดnด Roll” were engraved. Included in the engraving was the stamp of the producer of the box “THAI NAKORN SIAM STERLING” with the Garuda in the middle. Elvis Presley gave the unique combined lighter and cigarette box to Ursula Adelaide Aylmer (Nixon) who was working in America as an English teacher in the 1960s and had come to know or work for Elvis. Ursula Adelaide Aylmer kept the box until she passed away in 2021 at the age of 92. The family decided to sell the box and it will be offered in the Eur-Seree auction in Bangkok on 1-2 April 2023. Other interesting objects at the Eur-Seree auction is the Tamlung, 4 Baht, in gold struck in 1864 to commemorate King Mongkut, Rama IV’s 60th Birthday. On the obverse is the Crown with rays flanked by Umbrellas with three branches in the background and bordered by 32 stars, each star representing one Fuang. On the reverse is the inscription “Krung Siam” enclosed within a frame and the Chinese legend “Cheng Ming Tung Pao” outside the frame. “Cheng Ming” is the name of Rama IV in Chinese and “Tung Pao” means “lawful money. Outdoor hires in BCN, LON etc montjuic Hyde park?
Marc in Calif reacted to msclelovr for a topic
I’m so sorry @young11 that this reading forced itself upon you. Information like that should be restricted 😎 Both Montjuic and Hyde Park cover a huge area. While it’s entirely possible that a horny guy in either city might visit the park in the hope of meeting a like-minded man, there’s no regular cruising in either place (AFAIK). Even decades ago, when society was less liberal, Hyde Park had only occasional cruising outdoors. Those who wanted to meet off-duty horny soldiers preferred to visit a couple of pubs nearby. You may have better luck in the Summer months, but you’d have to exercise a good deal of caution. And with your expressed desire for “straight, inexperienced Arabs”, you may have to be extra-careful that you don’t attract a homophobic attack.1 point -

We welcome all here. But, I swing more to the left. However, I don't often get into politics other than to say I don't understand why any gay man in USA would vote for a Republican.1 point

I want to leave Russia, I want help

If you are capable of supporting yourself through online work or suchlike (easier said than done, I know) you may be able to travel to the Caucasus republic of Georgia. That’s presuming you’re going to be allowed out of Russia. I follow a Russian YouTuber called NFKRS. He is an English language YouTuber and makes money that way. His channel is here: https://www.youtube.com/c/MultiNfz Since the war broke out he has moved to Tbilisi in Georgia. He spoke about his immigration situation in one of his videos. Seemingly, a Russian can get a Visa to travel to Georgia for 360 days in a year. Then you can go to (say) Armenia for a week or two, and come back and start another 360 day Visa in Georgia. Not sure if it’s quite as simple as that for everybody, but he is currently renting an apartment in Tbilisi, making money on YouTube and supporting himself in that way. Although he’s only 22, he doesn’t have to worry about the conscription issue, as he has a medical exemption.1 point -
