Those sticks have not been and are also not "stupid" for many tens of millions around the world, if not hundreds of millions. You may think you are immune because you had the vaccination/s. If ever there was a case for Xi Jin-ping to reverse his massively misguided covid prevention measures it is surely now. After suddenly withdrawing the lockdown restrictions without any advance warning, many news outlets are reporting Chinese officials as saying that covid cases in the country will mushroom to as many as 250 million by the end of this month. Zhejiang Province around Shanghai reported one million new cases since the new policy was adopted and expects this to double quickly. Now the government has significantly loosened restrictions for in bound tourism and is considering permitting Chinese citizens to travel out of the country again. With these levels of covid infection, would anyone really want any Chinese near Thailand in the next few months, the more so given that the Chinese vaccines are considerably less effective that those from the west?

New waiter hunk was seated with customer. Alex the bar tender was charming farang customers at bar table as usual. At around 1 am, we finish the whisky and beer. I tipped them generously for their time. I went down with them to lobby so that hotel staff don't get alarmed and worried for me. I’m in Japan at the moment. There are lots of Chinese from Taiwan and lots of Russian tourists, too. To get into Japan you have to jump through quite a few hoops. You also need proof of 3 vaccinations and not all are recognised. I don't think the Chinese ones are on the list. If that is the case it will take a long time before any prospective tourist can come to Japan, as all 3 vaccinations must be completed. I think that takes about 9 months altogether. Surely Thailand has a list of recognised vaccinations. If the Chinese just have to pass a simple Covid test, that will spell disaster for Thailand and they'll be back to where they started 2 years ago, with no tourism industry to speak of. It's been over a week since updated news has been released on the condition of Princess Bajrakitiyabha, the eldest daughter of King Vajiralongkorn, who collapsed while training her dogs north east of Bangkok in mid-December. Thailand’s King and Queen, who were diagnosed with COVID-19 on December 17th, have now tested negative for the virus and can resume their Royal duties as normal, the Bureau of the Royal Household said in its announcement on Monday. After having tested positive for COVID-19, doctors administered medication to Their Majesties until their conditions returned to normal and the latest rapid antigen tests produced negative results.

Summary Usually after such long trip I’m happy to go back home but somehow not this time. I could easily use 1-2 more weeks, perhaps because not all time was debauchery, in Cambodia only in the evening , in Laos only once. I liked my tourist program in both countries and hope to repeat it soon. Senso after re-opening disappointed me a bit, Arena on another hand is still in the best form , I’d even say crew is better than last few times and they never slack on service or time. There were two historical events this trip for me. First time ever I offed Jupiter guy and was very happy with experience to a point when I met him night or two later on the street I wanted to take him off again but he was already booked. Another one was taxi trip to Pataya, both ways on both occasions. I always considered it waste of money, which I still do but on shorter trip , like mine this time , is quite effective and enjoyable waste. At 1200 it’s still almost 10 times bus fare but time saving is also substantial , half time spent on the road door to door. For 2 or 3 people it’s even more price friendly. There are also clouds on horizon, not sure is owing to my attitude , age , perceived stinginess or God knows what , certainly not lack of hygiene, but I had few times when boys did not want to go with me , at least initially or after 1st encounter weren’t keen on repeat even if I was. Sore example was Senso guy who took pains to avoid looking at me altogether next time I visited. Perhaps I should take more seriously my own advice to hire only and exclusively guys who are smiling at me. That’s my New Year resolution, honestly. I’m not sad or upset , just curious. There are countries that are very keen on getting the Chinese tourist back ($$), Thailand and Philippines would be two and even the Australian tourism industry want them back in droves but I wonder if they truly understand what would or could happen if plane loads of infected Chinese start landing? My pessimistic crystal ball is showing possible government panic if the numbers in those countries start sharply rising by the incoming infected that the possibility of the Thai Pass or Philippine One Health Pass gets reintroduced or even the dreaded quarantine. I know many have had enough of corona and just want to get on with life (me included) but a bit of foresight is required, I for one won't bother traveling if those bloody passes are reintroduced. I'm planning mid next year and intend to get there and have a bloody good time but will be watching to see how it all pans out.

As Steinway Tower is mentioned, I assume this is on the site of the old Steinway building just across from NY's main concert venue, Carnegie Hall. It does have a very small plot area. I wonder what effect high winds will have on those living near the top. When I lived in Hong Kong, two of my flats were on the 25th and 34th stories on far from slender towers. In fact they look far more sold. Yet during a typhoon each would sway, sometimes dramatically. It reminds me of another iconic NY building known originally as the Citicrop Center with 59 floors and its 45-degree sloping roof. Opened in 1977 it seemed a marvel of design. Then an engineering student who had studied the detailed plans for the building asked the architect at an open forum about the building's structural integrity. He suggested there were design flaws that could lead the building to collapse with wind speeds of 70 mph or greater. The structural engineer realised he had made a major error and initially considering comitting suicide. But a series of structural additions were quietly made starting in 1978. These took place overnight so that they remained confidential. It was only in 1995 that the public was made aware of the building's original structural faults. But given the fact that the original structural problem and subsequent repairs were concealed from the public, there was much criticism that other buildings made during those 20 or so years were unable to benefit from knowledge of them.
