RIO DE JANEIRO, FUCKSGIVING 2022
BL8gPt and 2 others reacted to Latbear4blk for a topic
When I'm traveling, usually it takes me three days to land, adjust my expectations, and start having fun. This time I started in day 2. After what is becoming my regular daily visit to the 17th floor, I went to Club 117. By the way, please do not hit me through PM message asking questions about what is going on there. As I was sharing in PM with the friend @Novarunner, I must be discrete. All I am going to say is that it provides me with many opportunities to be in the right place at the right time, and enjoy fun with some of the hotties, besides the pleasure of their friendship. After a quick stop over there, I headed to 117. I never liked the place, and my opinion is not changing this year. It was full, but I did not see one single guy that was hiring material for me. But indeed the sauna was packed with muscular guys jerking off everywhere. I know most of you love these guys talking to you while they show off their hard dicks, but that is not appealing at all to me. Rather than worshipping these guys, I enjoyed feeling worshipped and no candidates were on sight. I ordered a caipirinha that was one of the strongest drinks I ever had, I was tipsy after the first sip, and as soon as I finished my drink I left. The show had not yet started but there was no point to stay any longer, and I do not think I will return, not during this trip. I called an Uber, and joined Rhyheim & crew for diner at Fresh & Good in Ipanema. The food was really good, specially because he was paying for everything. I ordered there two caipirinhas that felt like water after 117's. Then we all called Ubers to go to our nests, except Rhyheim and Elijah who are lodging over there. Once at my base, I was very horny after flirting with all the porn stars, and got into Grindr. Although I am surprised at the low number of hits I have been receiving (compared to previous trips to Rio and to Buenos Aires), soon a 20 y.o. cutie connected who was only 233 m away. I did not want to bring him to my place, so I went to his. He is renting a room in a 2BR apartment, but his room mate was traveling so we could fuck with no inhibitions, Brazilian style. So I close Day 2 with my first sexual encounter, for free. Yesterday was Point's day, my favorite sauna, and tried to finish with my teleworking earlier. I did not visit the 17th floor but went directly to the sauna and arrived about 5. It was full of boys but very few clients. It was too early. The party started after 6:30. The place has been redecorated since my last visit two years ago. I only hang out in the bar and stage areas, never go to the sauna or the showers. I like that now there are more places to sit comfortably, but I do not like the wall screens they placed all around the stage. It is too much light, I had to run away from my first chosen corner. I loved the atmosphere, as I always do on Wednesdays. There were many, many GPs of all sizes, colors, and ages. Shortly after I arrived they started to parade, introducing themselves to me and trying to get a programa. The first ones are never the hottest ones, so I just chat with them for a few seconds, and then I thank them for their time, I offer them a drink, and apologize for not being interested in a programa with them. The first ones did not even take my offer for a drink. There were at least 6 guys I was interested in. My issue is that I am shy, and almost never make the first move. Fortunately, one of the guys I was interested in did exactly what I like. Instead of sitting or standing next to me stroking his hard dick, he introduce himself, hugged me and started to kiss me. 21 y.o., twinkish, define slim body, a typical Mineiro. His GP name is Gabriel. We had to wait 30' for a cabin. He asked me for 200R and I did not bargain, I am confident I could have gotten him for less. The sex was good, he made me feel that he was into me which is what I enjoy. We exchanged numbers and will probably invite him to my place to have a better experience. While he was by the reception counter waiting for our room, I stayed by the bar, flirted and connected with three more of my candidates, but just quick intros as I was committed. Once we were done with Gabriel, we had a drink upstairs where our cabin was, and then I returned to the bar. A beautiful Black boy that was in my list sat with me, stroking his dick. He was not comfortable kissing in public, first told me he was ativo and, when he noticed I was losing interest, switched to versa. I did not think he was a match, and let him go. A very nice Twink who was not my type but had invested a lot of his time on chatting with me, asked me for help to go back home, I was feeling happy and generous, and gave him 50Rs. The show was on, the other two boys I had connected with were busy, and I was tired. So my night at 202 ended about 10pm. I had two caipirinhas and a water, and invited boys with at least two caipirinhas and several waters and Red Bulls. My bill was 215 Rs. The night before, I had pay 107Rs in 117 for only one caipirinha and one water. I arrived home about and fell almost immediately asleep, happy and loving Rio.3 points -

RIO DE JANEIRO, FUCKSGIVING 2022

I arrived yesterday to Rio. Both flights were packed with no one single seat available. I had been flying for several years in the extra room class, but this time I did it in regular tourist class. The drop in quality service was remarkable (American). In the flight from Miami to Rio they did not even serve breakfast, and I think they did not do it not even in first class. I have a good sense of smell, and I did not smell any coffee or bakery being reheated. In the hope of having a free seat next to me, I booked the 13 row. It did not work. To make it worse, apparently it did get me bad luck. My rolling bag handler broke and (before boarding in DC my flight to Miami) I ended checking the bag to move comfortably in Miami. I will buy a new bag here. More airport bad luck. I was planning to settle in Rio's Admirals Club to telework, as my airbnb check in was at 3pm. Well, the Admirals Club was closed until 3pm, and the other VIP lounge I found would not take my Mastercards or visas to purchase a day pass. Remember, I was carrying my backpack and my bag formerly known as rolling. The most comfortable place I found was a Starbucks. So I spent my first hours in Rio sitting in a USA chain. Close to my check in time I called an Uber and was in my airbnb in Copacabana at 2:55. The place was not ready, the host was still cleaning up the mess left by the previous guests. He came down to pick me up about 3:30, and I was able to finish my teleworking in my unit while he was finishing the cleaning. The apartment is better than it looks in the website's pictures, so I am happy with that. Additionally, an extra surprise that made this airbnb really extraordinarily good. I chose it because of its location, just a few blocks away from Point, my favorite local GP sauna. However, is better than that. When I was in the lobby, Rhyheim Shabazz texted me and we found out that I rented my little one BR in the 13th floor, while he had rented a huge top roof apartment to host his collaborators and film while in Rio. We knew we were going to be together in Rio, but learning that we would be in the same building was a huge surprise for both of us. When I finish teleworking at 6pm local time (4 pm USA ET), I took the elevator to visit the crew. I arrived in the middle of this scene. After chatting a while, I wanted to go to Point. It started to rain, so I hurried up soon after 6:45. I made a mistake in my way to the sauna. A sin of overconfidence, I think. This is only my 4th visit to Rio, and although it is a fact that I feel at home and comfortable, it is also a fact that I do not know the city well. If you have walked your way to Point walking up Siquiera Campos from the beach, you know that shortly after the Atlantico Hotel, Siqueira curves towards the left, and another street starts following Siqueira previous straight trace. It was raining, I was in semi zombi status after my poor sleeping during the flight, and I took the wrong turn. Soon I realized that I was walking into a favela. I loved it. I walked up to the 700s in the hope of finding a perpendicular street cutting down back to Siquiera, but at the 800s I decided to turn around not because I was scared, but because the slop was very acute and I was sweating like a pig. I wonder what could have happened if I looked like a tourist, which I do not. Everyone seemed super friendly and greeting me with a smile. I turned back and I loved walking down after the demanding climbing. When I was close to the sauna the rain got worse and I could see the boys running away from the blue entrance, so I canceled my sauna plans and went back to my nest. I rejoined Rhyheim and went for a quick diner. At 8;30 I felt exhausted and tried to sleep unsuccessfully, my brain was still 2 hours earlier. Once I fell asleep, I am not sure what time, I slept with no interruptions not even for peeing until 7 am. I am confident I slept more than 8 hours. Needless to say, it was a sexless first day in town. I am unsure about my plans after 6 today. I am talking with an IG boy and perhaps we meet. Otherwise, I will weight what plan sounds then more appealing: hanging out with Rhyheim & friends or going to 117. I do know what my plan is tomorrow, I cannot miss a Wednesday at Point.2 points -
Just arrived! I thought that travellers may welcome the latest news on what's happening at Suvarnabhumi, particularly in the light of the taxi situation and the impact of the conference taking place. My EVA flight was on time and, walking towards immigration, I was surprised how quiet the airport was. As for Immigration itself, my intention had been to head for the Fast Track but no need; there were no queues and I waltzed through. A charming young woman welcomed me warmly. It made a change from the usual Officer Grumpy I encounter! A good start but the luggage was very slow. As slow as it was when the airport was brand new and suffering teething problems. However, a SIM station is newly open directly next to the luggage belt and so I was able to buy one as I waited for perhaps thirty minutes. Now the taxis. As forecast , a huge queue. i walked further along- that's left from the exit- and to my surprise there was another taxi station I've never noticed before. And with no queue. So future travellers should ignore the queue directly in front of the exit. It's only fifty metres or so extra to walk. Feeling smug about this, i enjoyed thirty minutes of the journey ....until we arrived at Rama 4, Silom and Surawong. A frustrating crawl. The driver pointed out the Army on stand-by but I can't say that security was the issue. It was, of course, rush- hour. Back in dear old Tarntawan eventually, after three years away. Sixty visits? not sure. i recognised not one of the staff. Pleased to see that those old carpets had gone, at last. The rooms are much the same but the beds and linen are first class, better than at more expensive hotels I've stayed in here. And Tarntawan is certainly well-priced.2 points

@speedoo1 You are right. BBVA waved the fee again. (300k COP max, 900k COP max / day). I also used davidienda (2 million max, but didn't work with my visa debit card) and servibanca (18k fee, 1 or 2 million max, depending on the ATM). On a side note, Medellin was amazing. Three days of free concerts (altavoz festival 2022 on the parque norte grounds), a great party in industry club and a bunch of gorgeous chicos from the webcam sites and grindr. Sex, drugs & rock 'n roll.2 points

Phrases every visitor in Thailand should know
floridarob reacted to ChristianPFC for a topic
"Yet Mae", literally "fuck (your) mother" is use the same way as a general insult as "fuck you" in English. "Ai Hea" literally "insulting prefix + monitor lizard" is used in a similar way (monitor lizard has a similar status as rat or dog or pig in insults in English). Without tones, and teaching the tourist how to pronounce them, the transcriptions are almost useless.1 point -

Why don't you upload a few pictures so we can judge better? No seriously, go to see a specialist. Related, I recently got vaccinated with Gardasil9 (3 shots at 6000 THB each, not cheap), which gives some protection from anal, penile and throat cancer.1 point -
IF there is a stumbleblock then it will be yet another new outbreak of this dreadful virus-and noone will be able to predict. For the rest: be assured: what always strikes many is the really GIANT oversupply of about every commodity what the tourist may perhaps want and which what some money can be made. Available boys for some pleasure always outnumber the potential takers multifold. Wheather wise this is not really a good time- the later end of the Thai very hot and also very HUMID ´summer-a refresher then when finally the rainy season starts some weeks later. That is why the schools have their holidays here then.......For airlines and travelagencies this is the lower valley of the low season. Which mostly-I hope for you too-will also give the lowest airfares.1 point

From Bloomberg News Thailand will start issuing one-year visas to people seeking medical treatment, as the Southeast Asian nation positions itself as a global hub for health-care tourism in the post-pandemic era. The Cabinet on Tuesday approved a proposal to lower the fee for such visas to 5,000 baht ($140) from 6,000 baht mooted a year earlier, Tipanan Sirichana, a deputy spokeswoman for the government, said in a statement. The new permits will be issued starting Jan. 1, she said. The medical visas will allow foreign patients to fly in and out of Thailand besides allowing them a maximum stay of 90 days at a stretch, Tipanan said. Applicants will need to produce evidence of a hospital appointment, health insurance and proof of adequate financing for treatments covering at least 800,000 baht, she said. Thailand is seeking to lure more foreign visitors in the post-Covid period by promoting itself as a world-class destination for medical treatment, with hospital operators such as Bangkok Dusit Medical Services Pcl and Bumrungrad Hospital Pcl leading the efforts. The medical visas will be restricted to patients that require continuous treatment for more than 90 days, and hospitals will need to outline a concrete treatment plan and expenses for the applicants, Tipanan said. Applicants can seek an extension beyond one year only if they provide medical certificates. Treatments for cardiovascular disease, cancer, organ transplants, anti-aging and cosmetic surgery could qualify for the new visas, she said.1 point

Realistically, how many foreigners (i.e., from the USA) have insurance coverage that will pay for a surgical procedure/vacation in Thailand? Unless I've misinterpreted the article above, in addition to insurance I would need to demonstrate I had additional access to US$22,000 cash or credit. Uninsured, or underinsured and/or foreigners without substantial financial resources are excluded.1 point

From CNN Editorâs Note: Isaac Humphries is a professional basketball player for Melbourne United, part of Australiaâs National Basketball League (NBL). He previously played college basketball for the Kentucky Wildcats. The views expressed in this commentary are his own. Read more opinion on CNN. Opinion by Isaac Humphries One of the best feelings in the world is playing a game of professional basketball while on peak form.to perform in front of nearly 10,000 people a night; theyâre cheering your name, theyâre wearing your jersey. And all while you throw down a powerful dunk and flex to the crowd. Well, it should be the best feeling in the world, right? And for a brief moment, I guess it was. That was in 2020. I was 22 and playing with the Adelaide 36ers, two years before signing with my current team, Melbourne United. Now imagine what happens when all of that adrenalin comes to an end after a game. For me, the euphoria was gone the moment I drove out of the arena. Iâd get home to my apartment in Adelaideâs coastal suburb of Henley Beach, and be all alone. I felt I had no choice but to be by myself. Thatâs when my wave of depression would hit the hardest. Over my entire career, there was no reality that existed where I could be an openly gay man while playing basketball. Until now. Iâve played everywhere â Kentucky, the NBA, Europe, the Australian national team â and itâs all the same: for the most part, being an athlete at that level is about making money, dating girls and being the best basketball player you can be. So I fell in line, no matter how awkward and weird I felt doing it. I just wanted to fit in and not draw any attention to myself. There were almost no examples of a male pro basketball player doing anything other than that, so I was resigned to the fact that my true life would start after I retired. Anal cancer
Ruthrieston reacted to caeron for a topic
It is probably hemorrhoids. That fits the description and what I've experienced a few times. It manifests, at least for me, as a red lump that can be just annoying to painful. I understand the fear of the big C, but I think hemorrhoids is far, far more likely. A quick google suggests that 80% of anal disease cases are that. It also suggests that Anal cancer is internal to the anus in the anal canal, not on the exterior. Wish you luck, but suggest you try to keep the fear in check. Anxiety, speaking from personal experience, sucks. Try not to feed it.1 point -

I just saw another post where the poster was saying he was retiring to Pattaya in September. Now this question has been thrown around the gay forums for years and of course many of the original farang expats are no longer with us. The "latest" gay farangs of course to retire will be more wealthier however is it just me but I have noticed my last few months there is far far less gay farangs retiring to pattaya,no idea about Bangkok but far less gay resident expats in my opinion So this is my update, I just spent several months in Thailand, particularly in Pattaya to see if I still had that "urge" to settle down there forever like I used to want to when I worked hard and all the overtime I could to save enough money for that "exciting retirement" Fast forward 25 years and sadly it seems going by my last few months in Pattaya I no longer have that urge or excitement to retire here in Pattayail,I'm not ruling out other parts just Pattaya now doesn't do it for me Its a combination of things, unfortunately I tend to reminisce over old times and what Pattaya used to be like, walking thru the old Sunee recently I had memories after looking at the old Top man go go ,the exciting & busy times there etc, Michael who used to own it,memories bar ,the old farang expats who used to talk chat laugh with The boys who were more Boyfriend material entertainment, rather than the business like boys nowadays. It's no longer like that, well to me anyway, yes I know times change 25 years on and now near retirement I cannot see any reason to retire there, the boys are drying up and more than ever " businesslike" with one even sending me a written quote for his services on grinder and times of service etc. The beer bars I can no longer relate to,I find a few farang owned great where you can communicate with other farangs but most seem Thai owned and uninteresting . Unfortunately I suffer with "it's not like it used to be" syndrome. I find most things in the supermarket etc just as expensive if not more expensive than my own country eg cheese& coffee. But what confirmed it was talking a gay farang in a beer bar who had been here 2 years who was "lonely".He was thinking of going back to the UK as he had his daughter there. He spent his days living in a jomtien condo near the complex and was ,in his words,"bored" He had no friends it seems or should I say "real friends" just seemed to be the other gay farangs attending daily the beer bars he would say hello to.On asking if he had a BF he said no you cannot find a real BF here and I believe he is right. Talking to him gave me that extra thought that it's too early yet and with risk to retire there without having any "support'. Support meaning someone who is a genuine friend, someone who notices you not around etc ,support when you get sick I imagined what my scenario could be 62yo ,then retire to pattaya,I'm still gym fit & relatively healthy. So I would rent a condo probably near jomtien complex and spend my days doing what? Maybe going to gym like I did, massages etc but the days start to get boring, missing family back home, etc Visiting bars? Hiring the services of male prostitutes who want to go as quick as possible, then what? That got bored for me. Watch tv ? I would be bored too and very lonely . Obviously age makes a difference too,if I was 75 instead of 62,it may be more inclination to retire to pattaya but once again where do you get that support if you need it in sickness etc What some guys cannot fathom is you will no longer be a guy on a 2 week holiday chasing arse or dick, you will be living there and you will grow tired of it . You will find the boys working will become disinterested in you as you no longer use their services as much as a 2 week millionaire and they stop contacting you on Grindr etc You will sit most nights in your condo watching tv bored shitless, you will go out during some days to beer bars just to talk to someone. You will be alone the majority of your time unless you hire the services of company who want to most times leave asap anyway I can't do it at this stage of my life ,I prefer to continue working and travel each year . One thing that could change that though is if I had a very genuine Thai boyfriend and I don't mean a paid boyfriend who works in a bar I mean a real lover , someone you can move there for and live with . But at this stage guys I would say be very hesitant to jump into something such as retirement to Pattaya and finding out your more lonely than ever! Suffering depression being away from family, living by yourself in a high rise condo would be no fun with no network support wouldn't be fun, and to be brutally honest with you I have heard there have been far more negative stories of farangs retiring to pattaya particularly gay farangs than positive, that's why you see so many going back after trialling it for a few months It wasn't what they imagined, I doubt any like me on here will admit that though, that they didn't like it here full time , I do,I couldn't cut it guys, living in that jomtien condo everyday ,not at this stage of my life, it got boring,I got lonely ,I felt like I had no support,I wanted love after a while, someone to care for and he cared by, the moneyboys, that's what they call themselves nowadays, weren't people I could relate to,times change I guess ,but maybe some day I can get my spark back when Pattaya comes back I guess but not this time, I'm going back home1 point

Myself arrived MON-2 days ago by now, and as a tiger-senior was now able to use the priority lane anyway-with an utmost polite and efficient immi-veteran. I did see a fair Q at the normal gates and loads of signs for this APAC meeting to come up. And yes-then the wait for the luggage also took some 20 mins-it was an AB380 from EK-so the biggest plane there is. All over the airport and also in the luggage hall are dozens of stalls offering various SIMs. Took RailLInk into town and was in it just <60 mins after deplaning.1 point

Summary report- Pattaya Oct 2022
VancBCMan reacted to floridarob for a topic
As I've said before, I'm not a good trip report writer...thoughts run around in my head and I'm not as detailed as others to remember boys numbers etc.... So I'll give a rundown on what my trip was like...... I'll break it into a Pattaya - a BKK- and a Bali thread I flew from JFK-TPE-BKK on EVA Air, business class using UA miles. EVA left JFK an hour late which only resulted in a shorter connection time in TPE. Their service was flawless, as usual, one of my favorite airlines. Arrived on time Sat Oct 8th @11am ...made my way to the Fast track lane, regular immigration didn't look too bad either and was through in about 8 mins. Luggage was already coming out and mine was one of the 1st bags out. Off to look for Mike Taxi, they had someone there with my name and only waited about 5 mins for the car to arrive....no big conversation since the driver spoke zero English. Only traffic was arriving in Pattaya, 1.5 hrs from the time I left the airport, not bad. I would be staying 10 nights in Classroom hotel with various food discounts and credits since I booked directly with them.....no issues at all during the stay, had a 4th floor room with a standing room only balcony. I unpacked and took a nap since it was still early, so I'd be well rested for the night. When I finally went out, I was surprised at how depressing it was with so many businesses closed up....not just bars, but restaurants, clothing stores, straight places (I'd feel the same way on Suriwong in BKK) Many places that I used to go to , weren't there anymore. My friend from NYC wouldn't arrive until the next day, so I was on my own....walked Boyztown and had a drink at Panorama, was really quiet there and went to Nice Boys, the chubby guy mamasan was drunk and annoying, so I left to walk around Sunnee. More depressing, lol....So I went back to Nice Boys and told the mamasan outside that I'll go back in if she keeps the fat guy away from me...she called him outside and yelled at him in Thai, obviously being scolded. She told him to apologize and he just looked down at the ground....what a relief, he didn't even look in my direction the rest of the night. I can usually find one guy in any bar and make a selection, the choices were pretty limited, about 5 guys, so I took one that had a tattoo on his face and I was laughing thinking how many here hate tattoos and what they'd think of this đ Stopped at the metal table restaurant (Pakboong loy Fah), which I'll refer to as prison table restaurant for a drink and Back to my room, was fun but not a repeat off in the future. I was well rested and not satisfied, so I went to Jomtien Super Complex (has a ring)....met with gayinpattaya had some drinks, no one was grabbing my attention and when the bars were closing the waiter at Cocka2 said he was going to the beach and drink with friends, if I wanted to go. I was wide awake and hadn't done that in a long time so I said sure. Was fun, nice how his group of friends watched out for me, making sure I was having fun and not left out....we stayed until about 5am and decided to go to my room, he needed to make money after all. We stopped on the way at a 7/11 and an old lady was cooking on her food cart, so we ordered 2 dishes and went back to my room. Was maybe the worst tasting Thai food I've had anywhere, disappointing. Sex with the waiter was ok, would work as a backup/emergency but not 1st choice...plus was older than my liking, but very nice guy. The 2nd day, my friend arrived, was staying at the Hilton so we went for lunch at Jasmin's Cafe only a few blocks from his hotel and a favorite place for me to eat. Then off to Jomtien beach, via Bolt taxi, prices so cheap and very comfortable cars. Went to the "gay" part of the beach near the toilets in the road and Chit saw me and thanked us for coming. Manicure/pedicure (those old ladies do a better job than most spas). Went to FRA Pattaya on S. Pattaya Beach road, as recommended here, was awful. Two bad meals in 2 days...couldn't believe it. Then for a foot massage at Relax massage, I got a cute/fun Cambodian and my friend ended up with a no personality older Thai guy. We hung around in Boystown and my friend wanted to see EVERY bar and show there was, because unlike me, he wants to look for the greener grass somewhere else thinking it might be better. I like a waiter from Classic boys and felt like drinking some more, so we went to Jomtien had some drinks, he seemed to enjoy it because he had never been there. One thing I make sure of is that the guy knows how to do a massage, because if the sex is mediocre, at least I can enjoy a massage for the money I am paying đ He ended up being a emergency backup in case I didn't find anything some night. The rest of the nights were the same, almost every bar In BT, he wanted to see if anyone new showed up although only BBB 1 time, that was enough my friend likes good restaurants, we ate at Cafe des Amis for his B'day, was nice (my steak on the EVA flight was better) the service was top notch, May's Pattaya was very nice, I'd recommend, VERY INEXPENSIVE lunch was Thai food good taste (Google it) , Alibaba Tandoori was very good and fun waiter, had breakfast at Hilton hotel a couple of times, great buffet but my favorite was prison tables....convenient and very tasty food. Dreamboys had the best, for me....I did 3 different offs from there....one was a couple of times and my best sex of the trip. Passionate, nice dick , hot sex....but the next 2 times, boring and into his phone....hate that. Pattaya is typically low on the sex satisfaction scale for me, has been for over 20 yrs. I still like coming to go to the beach, mani/pedi, massage, food and not spend a ton of money. I know this going in, so no high hopes for Pattaya. As someone from here pointed out, I'm more work than most because I want to drink, have fun, FULL SEX not just hand/blow jobs.... My friend had more luck on the apps.....I still need to see the person walk and talk to see if they're a fit for me, an ongoing issue on apps is lying about age and sex role and sending fake/photoshopped pics, makes me crazy and is a waste of time. I'll do BKK and Bali later....1 point -
Why not retire to Thailand?

I was lucky enough to get a ticket for the opening ceremony of the Vancouver Olympics. I was sitting next to a gay couple, and one of the two men carried on a hilarious commentary throughout the ceremony. We were also sitting in the midst of a group of couples, the husbands all being the managers of tire shops in small town B.C. and Alberta. The wives were laughing at all the jokes, but the husbands were probably all thinking this is what happens when you come to the Sodom and Gomorrah that is Vancouver.1 point -

I was last week in Nairobi and now near Mombasa. Nairobi is in African standards clean and reasonably safe (not so much after dark though). International hotels allow visitors (they like money and are in a hospitality business). Grindr is exploding, but expect many tricksters and conmen. Pictured are often not the reality. Many guys are probably sincere but they look a bit rough and hotel security will be surprised when you enter hotel (xray or just sitting guy checking). I did not have courage to try out. In beach resort found a massage guy with own booth and he did extra, was ok. I guess experienced gay expats can have good time. Main thing to consider that most guys have smaller or severe income issues. And Africa is anyhow intense for European, so keep your head coolđ. ps while gaysex is illegal, the extreme worse case is an extortion. White guys are still somehow respected (colonial past pluss money), so the extertion is mostly problem for locals (âwe tell your relativesâ). Racism is sometimed an issue between locals (kenyans-somalis-hindus), not so much for visitors.1 point -
You donât say if youâve visited other parts of Africa before @pieter, so some of this post may seem elementary. What I know is from a planned trip for myself, but also local info from a friend who has lived there for some years. Nairobi is a big city with very large slums that are now close into the city. Street crime is rife and carjacking happens often. You should be prudent and stay alert at all times on the street. If you are concerned, get your hotel to send a car to pick you up. The countryside is regarded as generally safe but there have been armed incursions affecting tourists in Laikipia (a beautiful area) and on the beaches towards the northern border. Also, have you had the yellow fever vaccination? That is essential.1 point

Yes, I met many 'models' as they like to call themselves on my trips to Colombia. It takes a bit of effort, but it's certainly possible, although not all models do 'presenciales' as @Boy69 already mentioned. A couple more tips: Don't go for the 'first page' models, unless you are prepared to pay a lot. They earn more in a couple hours on the sites than they would earn by meeting you. Visit also the lesser known sites like stripchat, bongacams, strreamate, cam4,.. as a general rule of thumb, the less popular their page, the more interested they will be in meeting you for a reasonable price. Try to find out their real location first. They are often in another city than what is mentioned in their profile. You will need their whatsapp. Some of the guys will give it for free, some will ask tokens. Only spend tokens if you think that he would be prepared to meet you. Moderators of groups of guys can be a blessing or a curse. Some are willing to act as the pimp of their goup and other guys of the studio, others will just try to get more tokens from you and fence off any direct contact with the guys. It helps a lot if you can speak and understand basic spanish. If possible, send them a picture that proves that you are in that city (or at least have visited that city in the past). I keep selfies with the "I â¤ď¸ name-of-the-city" boards that you find in every Colombian city for that purpose. Take the indirect approach. Go to the local gay disco and try to get their whatsapp over there. While maybe 15% of the guys in industry club (Medellin) work on webcam, I would guess that around 80% of the guys in pandora (Cucuta) are webcam models. Do always check their ID. Do not assume they are 18+ because they work on those sites. Some are not.1 point

It's not exactly correct some are working only on line and some will agree to meet but only after they know you better ( some pm massages , private/password shows with them act. ) the problem is that many perverts annoying them so their first reaction is to refuse suggestions for meeting. you have to be patient and polite some of them will finally agree.1 point

Glad you said that. You'll never regret being polite and smiling. It has to be about 12 years ago that I was approached by a gorgeous guy on Soi Tarntawan who was hawking for Super A bar. I can still remember his line" "You don't have to buy drink. Just go take a look." I had been to Super A before and knew I'd never find a guy this good inside so I replied, "you're a really cute guy; would you like to come to my hotel?" He seemed taken aback and after a few seconds responded with. "OK, 4,000 baht." I'd never heard a number like this before and I said, "you're not that cute." I regret it to this day. Not only because it was unkind, but it wasn't true. He was that cute. Those four words abruptly ended any opportunity I may have had with him. That I can still recall the exchange a dozen years ago makes it all so clear to me that I've never really forgotten him. When I passed by him a week or so later, he just looked down and shuffled his feet. Why didn't I just make a counter offer? Why didn't I apologize when I saw him again? Because I was stupid.1 point

you or somebody else recently voiced similar concern in another thread I guess. Your Singaporean friend most likely overpaid but if he liked boy and experience nothing wrong with that. I rather pay 10000 and be happy then find somebody for 2000 who turns out to be low skilled sand bag. Being quoted 20000 is overboard but it may happen and come to realization, after all 4 off at 5000 equals 1 off at 20000 and only boy would know if that makes sense for him or not. I think it was fishing. None of us flies to BKK to pay that much and very few to pay that 10000. My last LT offs from there were 3000 in Dec and 5000 in May. In both cases guys were not in bar so I asked mamasans to bring them over. In 3000 case it was my offer after his 'up to you " answer to my question about his fee. 5000 was quoted by boy and I accepted right away because I liked him. Like reader above, I think each boy has his own rate depending of his popularity, client , phase of moon and so on. Nothing is written in stone though and may be negotiated. If guy is open to negotiation given day depends of the same criteria I listed. I met my '5000 ' guy before and then LT was out of question, even ST he was somewhat apprehensive with all that girls in audience but luckily changed his mind post-covid as we can see. in my opinion 5000 is a maximum, specially for untested guy, even in Jupiter, Moonlight or Tawan. If you have hots for guy you may go for more but be prepared to be disappointed. Alternative is to meet him ST first and see if you clicked There are few guys in various places I adore but none warranting more than that fee IMHO. 5000 is a lot of money and it's still easy to find somebody suitable for 3000, perhaps even 2500. Keep that in mind when you get too hot under the collar. When boy asks for more and is not yielding , tell him politely that 5000 or whatever is all you can pay and stick to that. Don't tell him (face !!! ) he is too expensive or that you can find guy for less. Tip him for his time and move on. Don't hold it against him , he knows better what his financial position is and may stick to his quote the same way we stick to ours. Next time you are in bar he may smile at you which will be good sign to try once more or will ignore you which means your offer was too low indeed. Be firm but polite and keep negotiations to minimum in order not to kill the fun. My rule is max 3 strikes "his quote, my quote, his quote, yes or no" or " my quote, his quote, my quote, yes or no" Keep in mind that quote from reader above The guy you like will have a price range in mind and you should, too.1 point

For me, I retired some time ago now and the thought of moving to either Thailand or the Philippines is still very much on my mind and still relatively relative young I imagine still plenty of time to enjoy life. I too am a bit of an introvert so not having a lot of friends over there to socialize with is not a big problem, I can always find something to keep me interested as I am interested in history and other cultures so studying would keep the mind busy. There is quite a difference between the countries I have thought about, retirement visa or other visas I see the Philippines is so much easier (SRRV visa for the Philippines) and there isn't the constant reporting or extensions of the visa. Health care is a concern and taking out private health insurance would be a must no matter which country is the choice. For Thailand I would be happy to live in Bangkok as it has everything a person could want with plenty to do, non sex scene as well as sex scene. There is good health care there with the private hospitals etc but in the place I like in the Philippines, if something goes wrong it is a very long trip from the mountain province to the quality private hospitals in Manila. Also in the mountain province there really isn't a lot to do so study wise I would have to rely on the inetrnet which isn't as good or reliable as that in Thailand. High on the list would also be travel around the country of choice, this would also be fairly often and another way to stay occupied. Both countries have many places that I would love to check out so overall there is plenty for me to do and see either way. Food wise I must say Thai food is the hands down winner even though I still enjoy Filipino food. My current thoughts are leaning towards Thailand but things and minds can change so if the opportunity does arise and I decide to make a move then some serious thought and planning would have to take place, in the meantime I can still dream of what it would be like.1 point

Why not retire to Thailand?

I am the guy that Olddaddy is referring to. What he wrote are also my concerns - meaning will I fit into a new retiree life in Pattaya/Jomtien. I have left my doors open so that I can return to Europe (or to some other destination) - where I live now - if I won't like Pattaya/Jomtien. I am originally from the USA and I left the USA in 1999 as a result of some gun violence that occurred to a friend. It was in Colorado - our ski buddy group went out for a beer. I was tired that night so I left earlier to go home. Our friend was the last person to leave the bar that night - he went out back to the parking lot to get in his car - some random guy came up to him and said give me your wallet - he replied NO and the killer said, good-bye and shot him dead at point blank range. After his funeral at one of the ski group friend dinners, my friends told me, hey, we are going to get our gun licenses - do you want to join us (back in 1998)? I replied, NO thanks - in fact, I will use this opportunity to leave the USA to finish my undergraduate studies that I never finished. I hate gun violence!! So, in 1999 I moved to Rome, Italy and started my new life there as an older student at the university. Just shy of the first year, I almost moved back to the USA - as the culture shock and language barriers were keeping me from fitting in. Of course I fit in with the younger students but I did not click with them as they were just there for a one semester abroad party. I persevered and seeked out an Italian who could not speak much English to live with and after living with him for 6 years - I was able to fit in, make real friends, learn their language, get my Italian citizenship, and find an international career. So, what I learned in my early years in Italy - I am hoping will give me the strength and perseverance to help me fit in and adapt to my new life to-be as a retiree in Pattaya/Jomtien. I believe that if we encounter loneliness - then it is our own responsibility to overcome it. I am also an introvert - but I can force myself - when needed - to be extroverted. So, I will push myself to create a network in Pattaya so that I do not become that lonely person in a nice condo overlooking the Gulf of Thailand wondering - Oh my GOD - what have I done. If I find myself in that predicament of loneliness - then I will only have myself to blame. My life will not ONLY consist of the Jomtien Complex, the gay beach, Boyztown, and Sunee. I see that there are so many additional things to do in the environment, nature, helping out the less fortunate, joining the expat group PCEC Pattaya City Expats Club, continue with some projects that my former employer would like me to work on, use Pattaya/Bangkok as a jumping off point to explore the nearby countries, explore Thailand in a more deeper way - after watching Paddy Doyle's great adventure where he explored ALL 77 of the Thailand provinces - I realized that I also want to do that - and it would be so cool to do it on a low powered motorbike like he did. So, in summary, do I fear all that Olddaddy wrote - HELL YES!!! but, I am not getting any younger and I have lived in the North American continent (New York and Colorado) and then the European Union (Italy and Hungary) - now it is time for Asia and all the excitement that this will bring to me for the last chapters of my life.1 point -
Why not retire to Thailand?

I retired/left the workforce 10 yrs ago at 48 yrs old. It was between Mexico and Bangkok where I wanted to move to, Pattaya was out of the question, is great to visit but I couldn't imagine living there. The more I looked into in, Mexico was the clear winner. Easier to get residency and no reporting BS and no keeping money in their banks. Once a resident in Mexico the only thing you have to report to immigration is any change of address. I built an impressive house that would cost millions in the USA.....Also, is less than a 2 hr flight back to the US if I needed to.....almost 2 yrs ago I needed to have my gallbladder removed and flew to Boston. Merida has great hospitals and Doctors, however, I'd prefer a Boston hospital over international hospitals when having the choice. I got a little bored after a couple of years and opened a NY Style Pizzeria.....that has kept me more than busy. In countries like Mexico or Thailand, having even a small business like this makes you sort of a celebrity. You hear "he's the owner" just like in Thailand, he's the owner carries big weight. My family isn't close and most of my friends have family and careers, so I hardly saw them. I hang around with almost exclusively locals between 18-35 and it makes me feel/look younger than I am. Plus Spanish is much easier to learn than Thai .....đ I could imagine if I did go to BKK, I'd open a business there too....the bureaucracy in both places are stupid, but not impossible to overcome. I did all my own documents and even have a liquor license, all done without any bribes. Merida is in Mexico but corruption, although it exists, isn't as bad as other parts of Mexico or probably Thailand. I read somewhere that 72% of Americans live in or close to the city they were born in. I lived in Florida for 10 years and is a very transient state, many people end up going back to where they came from....moving internationally is a huge move and with a change of language, culture and politics, isn't for everyone.1 point -
I have a good friend who is nearing retirement. He's already 66. For years he's been talking about the need to have friends around in old age to help care for you. He recently had back surgery and thanks to his sister and several friends he had a good network helping him out in his recovery phase. He and his oldest friends talk about creating a group home of sorts for themselves so they will always have each other nearby. He's an extrovert so I think he really needs people around more than I do. As a pretty strong introvert I am able to entertain myself pretty well. The last couple of years of the pandemic I haven't really interacted with many people. I've been working from home full time since it started. Most days I don't leave my apartment. I do talk to my best friend on the phone almost every day which does help. I expect that if I tried to retire away from where I have spent the last 32 years it would be difficult. While I don't have a huge number of friends, my small network is quite reliable. Making new friends at retirement age is likely to be difficult for most people - especially so for an introvert. While I don't know that I would be any more lonely there than I am here, I think it's likely there would be a real degree of isolation being on the other side of the world. Thailand doesn't seem especially stable - but I'm not sure there are many places these days that are. But the rules there - such as they are - can change quickly. My current expectation is that I will spend several months each year traveling (at least for the first few years). Rather than retiring to Thailand full time I think I would want to go for a couple of months at a time. But home base will still be where I am now.1 point

Thanks, Olddaddy, for your brutal honesty. The issue of aging and loneliness is something I believe all gay men have to come to terms with at some point. It seems to be happening now for you. Some on the forum have found a life partner and that affects their decision to retire to Thailand. Others find that they're simply happier in Thailand than they are in their home country. But for most of us, Thailand remains a frequent destination but not our home base. It has crossed my mind to retire to bkk but I wouldn't consider it unless I could first master the language. Learning any new language is more difficult with age but still possible if you're adequately motivated. I'm not and I can't envision a life in Thailand without being able to communicate in Thai. If you're seeking boyfriend material, maybe just start looking for friends first. Friendships can have a way of turning into more meaningful relationships over time. But if you begin by limiting your field of candidates to sexual contacts, you may find that the relationships never grow beyond that point. In any case, you're still a relatively young old man. You have a right to a happy future and I wish you well on your journey.1 point
