  1. As I've said before, I'm not a good trip report writer...thoughts run around in my head and I'm not as detailed as others to remember boys numbers etc.... So I'll give a rundown on what my trip was like...... I'll break it into a Pattaya - a BKK- and a Bali thread I flew from JFK-TPE-BKK on EVA Air, business class using UA miles. EVA left JFK an hour late which only resulted in a shorter connection time in TPE. Their service was flawless, as usual, one of my favorite airlines. Arrived on time Sat Oct 8th @11am ...made my way to the Fast track lane, regular immigration didn't look too bad either and was through in about 8 mins. Luggage was already coming out and mine was one of the 1st bags out. Off to look for Mike Taxi, they had someone there with my name and only waited about 5 mins for the car to arrive....no big conversation since the driver spoke zero English. Only traffic was arriving in Pattaya, 1.5 hrs from the time I left the airport, not bad. I would be staying 10 nights in Classroom hotel with various food discounts and credits since I booked directly with them.....no issues at all during the stay, had a 4th floor room with a standing room only balcony. I unpacked and took a nap since it was still early, so I'd be well rested for the night. When I finally went out, I was surprised at how depressing it was with so many businesses closed up....not just bars, but restaurants, clothing stores, straight places (I'd feel the same way on Suriwong in BKK) Many places that I used to go to , weren't there anymore. My friend from NYC wouldn't arrive until the next day, so I was on my own....walked Boyztown and had a drink at Panorama, was really quiet there and went to Nice Boys, the chubby guy mamasan was drunk and annoying, so I left to walk around Sunnee. More depressing, lol....So I went back to Nice Boys and told the mamasan outside that I'll go back in if she keeps the fat guy away from me...she called him outside and yelled at him in Thai, obviously being scolded. She told him to apologize and he just looked down at the ground....what a relief, he didn't even look in my direction the rest of the night. I can usually find one guy in any bar and make a selection, the choices were pretty limited, about 5 guys, so I took one that had a tattoo on his face and I was laughing thinking how many here hate tattoos and what they'd think of this 😝 Stopped at the metal table restaurant (Pakboong loy Fah), which I'll refer to as prison table restaurant for a drink and Back to my room, was fun but not a repeat off in the future. I was well rested and not satisfied, so I went to Jomtien Super Complex (has a ring)....met with gayinpattaya had some drinks, no one was grabbing my attention and when the bars were closing the waiter at Cocka2 said he was going to the beach and drink with friends, if I wanted to go. I was wide awake and hadn't done that in a long time so I said sure. Was fun, nice how his group of friends watched out for me, making sure I was having fun and not left out....we stayed until about 5am and decided to go to my room, he needed to make money after all. We stopped on the way at a 7/11 and an old lady was cooking on her food cart, so we ordered 2 dishes and went back to my room. Was maybe the worst tasting Thai food I've had anywhere, disappointing. Sex with the waiter was ok, would work as a backup/emergency but not 1st choice...plus was older than my liking, but very nice guy. The 2nd day, my friend arrived, was staying at the Hilton so we went for lunch at Jasmin's Cafe only a few blocks from his hotel and a favorite place for me to eat. Then off to Jomtien beach, via Bolt taxi, prices so cheap and very comfortable cars. Went to the "gay" part of the beach near the toilets in the road and Chit saw me and thanked us for coming. Manicure/pedicure (those old ladies do a better job than most spas). Went to FRA Pattaya on S. Pattaya Beach road, as recommended here, was awful. Two bad meals in 2 days...couldn't believe it. Then for a foot massage at Relax massage, I got a cute/fun Cambodian and my friend ended up with a no personality older Thai guy. We hung around in Boystown and my friend wanted to see EVERY bar and show there was, because unlike me, he wants to look for the greener grass somewhere else thinking it might be better. I like a waiter from Classic boys and felt like drinking some more, so we went to Jomtien had some drinks, he seemed to enjoy it because he had never been there. One thing I make sure of is that the guy knows how to do a massage, because if the sex is mediocre, at least I can enjoy a massage for the money I am paying 😏 He ended up being a emergency backup in case I didn't find anything some night. The rest of the nights were the same, almost every bar In BT, he wanted to see if anyone new showed up although only BBB 1 time, that was enough my friend likes good restaurants, we ate at Cafe des Amis for his B'day, was nice (my steak on the EVA flight was better) the service was top notch, May's Pattaya was very nice, I'd recommend, VERY INEXPENSIVE lunch was Thai food good taste (Google it) , Alibaba Tandoori was very good and fun waiter, had breakfast at Hilton hotel a couple of times, great buffet but my favorite was prison tables....convenient and very tasty food. Dreamboys had the best, for me....I did 3 different offs from there....one was a couple of times and my best sex of the trip. Passionate, nice dick , hot sex....but the next 2 times, boring and into his phone....hate that. Pattaya is typically low on the sex satisfaction scale for me, has been for over 20 yrs. I still like coming to go to the beach, mani/pedi, massage, food and not spend a ton of money. I know this going in, so no high hopes for Pattaya. As someone from here pointed out, I'm more work than most because I want to drink, have fun, FULL SEX not just hand/blow jobs.... My friend had more luck on the apps.....I still need to see the person walk and talk to see if they're a fit for me, an ongoing issue on apps is lying about age and sex role and sending fake/photoshopped pics, makes me crazy and is a waste of time. I'll do BKK and Bali later....

  2. From the Thaiger Whether you’re visiting Thailand for business or pleasure, it’s always beneficial to understand the local language. Learning useful Thai phrases means showing effort and respect for the local culture. It will help ease interactions between you and the locals, making your trip more accessible and more enjoyable. Since Thai is a tonal language, it can be challenging to learn. You’ll likely make mistakes at first, but don’t let that discourage you. Even if you pronounce something wrong, most locals will still appreciate your effort and may even help you pronounce it correctly. Khap and ka Before continuing with the greetings and other useful Thai phrases, we should first cover some basic rules. To make your sentence or question more polite and respectful, it’s essential to end your sentences with the word khap/ka when you are conversing with someone in Thai. There’s no direct translation of khap/ka in English. It’s based on the gender of the person speaking, not who you are talking to. So if you are a male, you should finish your sentence with the word khap or krap. If you are a female, complete your sentence with the phrase ka. –Khun Khun is a polite way to address a person. You add the word before a person’s name. While it is similar to using Mr. or Ms. in English, there’s no direct correlation to English. Out of all useful Thai phrases, greeting someone and saying thank you are the essential Thai phrases you need to know. Mastering these Thai phrases will help connect you with the people you meet in the country. –Hello – Sa-Wat-Dee Sawatdee is one word you’ll probably use a lot in Thailand. It’s a way to say hi or hello in Thai, so try to use it to greet anyone who crosses your path. Don’t forget to add khap or ka at the end to make a complete, polite greeting. You might butcher the word at first, but don’t worry; most Thais will kindly help you with the correct pronunciation. –Thank you – Khob Khun Sorry/excuse me – Kor Toht You can use kor toht krap/ka to apologize or ask people for your attention. You can also use it to dismiss yourself from a setting or express condolences. –No problem/it’s alright – Mai Pen Rai Mai pen rai is a way to respond to someone’s apology or gratitude. You’ll most likely hear this phrase a lot in Thailand. Using mai pen rai tells the other person they’re not bothering you. –Yes/No – Chai/Mai or Dai/Mai Dai The words yes and no are used differently in different contexts. If someone asks you whether something is right or wrong, use chai (yes) or mai chai (no) to answer the question. However, if someone asks you about your ability to do something, respond with dai (yes – can) or mai dai (no – can’t). I don’t understand – Mai Khao Jai. When you don’t understand something, say “mai khao jai.” Upon hearing this phrase, the other person may try to find different ways to explain whatever they’re trying to tell you. –Goodbye – La Gorn When you part ways with someone, use “la gorn khap/ka” to say goodbye to them. Sometimes, a simple wai might be enough if you’re not confident enough to pronounce the phrase. 4. My 2nd or 3rd time staying there... @vinapu was the one that turned me onto the place. I could've stayed a few bucks cheaper at Ambiance, which was my 1st hotel stay in Pattaya many years ago when Madame Jim was running it or Venue in Jomtien, which I also like alot. Their restaurant has pretty decent food, not expensive and room service. There is a straight girlie bar downstairs and they never bothered me or anyone I was bringing back and is in the middle of BT without being in BT.....most of the guys seem to like not going to a "gay" hotel, the side hotel entrance is pretty discreet and you can go right in with your key card. I use to be in the hotel business...I look for a couple of things that a hotel should have, decent bed and sheets, good a/c, good wifi, black out curtains, some sort of fridge, a good price point. These rooms also have a microwave and a balcony, although nothing to really look at, but sex on the balcony is always fun.....it's not the Hilton though, nor Hilton prices, lol

  6. Given the unpopularity of Biden, whom many Americans blame for inflation, although most of that is clearly due to (1) supply-chain problems from first COVID, then from China's "Zero-Covid" policy, (2) the war in Ukraine, with loss of food exports, and (3) OPEC throttling back production in an attempt to hurt Democrats, the failure of Republicans to do better should be a clear wake-up call for them. Elections are decided by independents, not Democrats or Republicans. And my feeling is that most independents are just as horrified by the antics of Trump and the GOP as most Democrats are. Independents may not like Biden much, but the alternatives seem to be worse.

  7. I beg to differ, Rob; I think u r a VERY good trip report writer. Who says a good report has to focus on numbers.....? I'll arrive in 2 weeks time. Ur report both unfortunately and fortunately downgraded my expectations. I got the feeling that the sex bored u. For me it'll be 3rd time in Thailand, 1st time in P. Hope I wont be bored.

  9. Part 6 My regrets I will return to Brazil. Rio is a fantastic city and it's so comfortable to go to the brothel for cute boys (although I regret that it's only saunas, I prefer places where the boys are dressed). However, I wish I had been more fearless and tried adventures in other places or on the street. It was my first trip to this country which was totally unknown to me. 2 little things make me think that I missed out on some pleasures: Coming back from Cordovado, I took the bus. It wasn't really full. So I was able to sit down. A young white man with black eyes and hair, dressed like a footballer, got on the bus. Our eyes met for a very short time. But it seems that was enough for him to understand who I was. He stood at my level rubbing his upper thigh close to his cock against my hand for 10 minutes until he came down. The passenger sitting next to me was very embarrassed. Maybe I should have gone down with the young man… who knows? The hairdresser was wonderful. A quality of care that is no longer found in Europe. He trimmed my eyebrows and the hairs of my ears.. . In addition, very beautiful. Mediterranean blond. I went to see him 3 times. Each time he rubbed his penis a little more against me, each time I paid him a little more. All this makes me think that I should have been a little more intrepid. that’s all sorry for my english but i have no intention of improving it

  10. I have had more than a few of these over the years. Often the guys are shy and need direction. However, last night, I had two amazing guys that were simply perfect with each other and want I wanted. They fucked and sucked and rode and kissed passionately. Sperm was everywhere and my sheets needed changing. They were both from Laos and married with kids but not one bit of hesitation in either of them. I have them booked again this weekend just to see if I had as good of a time as I remembered the next day.

  11. Part 1 First of all, I want to say that this little report on my recent stay in Rio will teach nothing to those of you who already know this city and its places of perdition. For the others, keep in mind that these are subjective assessments and that everyone will experience their stay in this city in their own way. Finally, I apologize for the delay in writing this review. Since my return, work has again taken up most of my time. The neighborhood of my hotel I had chosen a hotel in the Leme district. I did not regret my choice. This slightly boboized district is pleasant. Like almost everywhere in Rio, there are plenty of places to eat or have a drink. There is no insecurity there. In fact, Leme is the northern end of Copacabana. If you are a walker, it takes 20 to 25 minutes to get to Pointe 202 and 10 minutes to the nearest metro station: cardeal arcoverde. I walk slowly. The metro will take you quickly either to tip 202 or to 117. The beach is much less densely frequented than copacabana, including by thieves. I swam several times leaving my things on the beach. Travel Walking is very pleasant in Rio and the neighborhoods where you can walk safely (until 11 p.m.) are very extensive. Taxis are honest and cheap ( except airport) The metro is convenient and bus even cheaper.

    Why not retire to Thailand?

I'm circling back to this discussion, because I returned from my first-ever cruise (ship) - three days ago. A Royal Caribbean Line ship, 7 nights to the Western Caribbean (4 port stops: Honduras, Belize and 2 in Mexico). A small ship with about 2,000 passengers. My observations: onboard were many gay men and lesbians spanning all age groups ... including one group of 50 gay men belonging to the Prime Timers social group. There was a nightly gathering for gays in one of the bars. The Cruise Director was gay. There was no assigned seating in the Main Dining Room, and the ship I was on had 5 or 6 eating areas. I was assigned one of the two time slots to eat in the Main Dining Room but I opted to eat in the buffet restaurant instead. Passengers interact with one another as they see fit. Engage in conversations with others, or not. I did not sense anyone judging another passenger - gay or straight. People go on cruises to have a good time. If you are sharing a stateroom with a younger man and enjoying the ship's various venues, I doubt anyone will care.

  13. 20 years in Thailand, visiting and years living, never have I heard someone manly say "Ka." I don't understand what relevance "fem boy" needs to have when my comment is directed at you and others on this board. You knew immediately what I meant when I said it, right? ps Hehehe, and I just learned that some men do it when they want to talk with a soft tone especially to women...so, that might be why I never heard it. Everyone else can draw their own conclusions.

  14. Or this old-fashioned book-likely still for sale/in stock at (some) ASIAboox outlets: (as I was unsure after nearly 1000 days what knowledge of this beautiful THai language is still with me, I took it as a kind of reminder/help_ whilst waiting for the plane to BKK I was delighted I could understand much of the very clear and neat Thai that some around me spoke. THai to you, by Andreas Schottenlober, ed. D.K. Today Ltd , 2562, (that is Duang Kamol, a long standing general Thai editor and bookseller), just 99 bt. BUT for us much, much more interesting-so much that it was even forbidden in TH (I bought mine in either SIN or MY):Outrageous Thai, slang, curses, epithets. By T.F. ROden. Tuttle Publications (these also do many of those coffeetable book travelguides for ASEAN), Tokyo/Singapore. Periplus edtions, 2008-so likely out of stock. Wonder if that would be found somewhere on this www- I think even der Christian could still learn out of it.

  15. So just returned back to BKK -since some nearly 1000 days missing- and a quick round here where I stay-quite far from Silom-it seems many of the higher bracket/chain hotels have closed (even an Ibis) and some seem even have gone the path of so many Thai real estate- just let it rot away-other seem to be maintained for future better times. The tipical mom+pop/family places seem to have stayed open- the family lives there anyway. Also notable that an awful lot of 7s have closed. HIghest nr here is now in the 17xxx range, but I guess some 5-7.000 must by now have closed. The grateful granny who still runs a ´streetfood'place where I used to eat every 2nd day or so even recognised me -she had not even raised prices (or perhaps the trouble to have print new menu´s was too big) and on top of thus very cheap prices she gave me a 5 bt discount-cannot really understand why. I sometimes take some special food items for them-and the place I stay- but as I had no idea who would still be there or not, this time not. Flew EK=emirates, thus change Dubai, both AB380=the large doubledeck, both 100% full and not the best flite I ever had (noisy screaming kids). But sat in the Raillink within 60 mins after deplaning-fast-track/senior immi, then longer wait for luggage-but pretty soon after the bisn/priority container was emptied. Also strange: in the bottom with Raillink of Swampy the Thai Farmers bank=Kasikorn had the very best rate-the exchanges are furthest away from entry, behind loads of fone/SIM and CF-shops and msg-shops. That was becse they gave the highest rate for all notes-the others a little less for smaller notes (which I had). BUT on exit at RailLINk at Phayathai I noted there is also a SuperRich there-and gave 15 satang more as in airport. And no- I will not report any ´adventure´ in this trip till its well finished.

  19. The thing with rates is: if it’s a low rate I normally don’t trust the guy. I feel that I must be on my wits more than usual. When a guy quotes DOP 3000 or over usually it comes out overpriced. In my experience they can look fantastic (muscled, tall, handsome and hung) but they are terrible in bed, can’t get hard and don’t cumm. It’s not always the case, but it’s the rule I fly by. Fun anekdote: the hot, ripped stud quoted me 200 US dollar. I declined. He instantly dropped to an avatar DOP 2500 (50 USD) after which he asked for 70 dollars. I blocked the guy. He was bullshitting too much. in short: DOP 1000 (low side; be vigilant) - DOP 3000+ (high-end, be suspicious)

    Paris 2022

In my experience, London, Paris, Brussels are at about £200 (€200-250)/job level now. Sessions are not expected to be less than 1 - 1 1/2 h long and more than 2 - 2 1/2 h long, standard services. Some providers do give discounts to regular clients but even then the prices are never less than €180/job. Personally, if anyone in London, Paris or Brussles offers me his services for less than €180 and I am not his regular, I'd be very wary: it could be a sign of desperation, which could be drug-addiction-related. Presumably, quicker services are priced differently (i.e. brief encounters of less than 1h) but I have never partaken so I cannot possibly comment.

  22. A brain fart! How to implement the plan, collect and distribute the money? I would say (expletive deleted) and go elsewhere, and many others probably too. The overall effect might be less tourist money spent in Thailand. Every person and every industry is affected by Covid, but I think this proposal does not help. I certainly did my share by sending some money to friends and by staying one year in hotels in Cambodia.

  23. Sunee is the most quiet of all bar areas, but still where my needs (types of boys, how they are dressed, prices) are served best. In memory of good times years ago, and to show my support, I always stop at Winner and Nice Boys when I'm in Pattaya.

    Nairobi Kenia

I was last week in Nairobi and now near Mombasa. Nairobi is in African standards clean and reasonably safe (not so much after dark though). International hotels allow visitors (they like money and are in a hospitality business). Grindr is exploding, but expect many tricksters and conmen. Pictured are often not the reality. Many guys are probably sincere but they look a bit rough and hotel security will be surprised when you enter hotel (xray or just sitting guy checking). I did not have courage to try out. In beach resort found a massage guy with own booth and he did extra, was ok. I guess experienced gay expats can have good time. Main thing to consider that most guys have smaller or severe income issues. And Africa is anyhow intense for European, so keep your head cool😀. ps while gaysex is illegal, the extreme worse case is an extortion. White guys are still somehow respected (colonial past pluss money), so the extertion is mostly problem for locals (“we tell your relatives”). Racism is sometimed an issue between locals (kenyans-somalis-hindus), not so much for visitors.

Yes, both very nice guys and a well run business. Pikky's seems to be doing well compared to other bars in Boyztown currently and has a lot of cute / nice guys working there.

    First Visit

What to say! My trip was amazing. One week was definitely not enough – but that means I have to come back! I had some great meals (even tried the street food a couple times – that was a big thing for me). Saw the Palace, took the boat ride (which I had remember seeing in the James Bond movie years ago). I even walked out onto the glass at the top of the King Power tower. I made it to 4 massage places. I kind of felt I owed it to K-Man Spa since they keep sending me messages with pictures to select. I went to a different club each evening – DreamBoys, Moonlight, FreshBoys, Tawan, Hot Male, and Jupiter. Oh what times I had. Each club fun, and each provided an “off” to spend the evening with. I even tried 2 guys at the same time (remembering to let the first pick the second – as recommended on this blog). I have to thank everyone on this blog. If not for this, I don’t think I ever would have gone. Reading the posts and trip reports gave me the courage to know I could do it. Thanks again. Looking forward to my next trip!

  29. From Manila Times Thailand's BL series flies high Opinion by Danton Remoto A YEAR ago, publisher and writer Jun Matias asked me to join his "Lock and Roll" Facebook discussion on Boys' Love, or the BL series. Produced in Thailand, the BL television series has taken Southeast Asia by storm, especially in the time of Covid-19. The Boys Love TV shows deal with boys who fall in love with other boys. But they are radical in Thailand for the boys depart from the khatoey, or the stereotype of the gay man who is effeminate, swishy and works in the beauty parlors or in entertainment. These boys are butch and good-looking; they play football and used to date girls; they live in beautiful homes and wear stylish clothes. It is almost like your slick television series of love and loss, except that here, the boys fall in love with other boys. Hendri Go, my informant and tireless organizer of Cebu's Literary Festival (Liftest), said the Japanese yaoi culture influenced the Thai BL. The yaoi are Japanese manga comics dealing with physical gay love. The fans of the yaoi are called fujoshi, and they are mostly young women. On the other hand, we have the sonenai, or manga gay comics that deal with gay love that is emotional and romantic. In both varieties, music brings the boys together; the setting is usually a school; the city is another character in the unfolding of the tale. Social media run the characters' lives: the world of likes, comments and shares affect them on a daily basis. This is most clearly seen in the series "2gether," directed by Weerachit Thongjila, which ran from February to May 2020. The series is about Wat (Vachirawit Chivaaree, nicknamed Bright), a football player and musician who meets Tine (Metawin Opas-iamkajorn, nicknamed Win), an aspiring musician. Wat is brooding and melancholicwhile Tine is bright and bubbly. The casting captures perfectly the differences in their character traits. There is charm and chemistry between the two boys, who sometimes wear similar jerseys, or just look deeply into each other's eyes, or feel the pangs of jealousy the way other partners do. Shown right almost when Southeast Asian countries were beginning to be locked down because of the pandemic, the series racked up millions of views per episode on YouTube. Twitter comments hit through the roof and fan sites mushroomed on Facebook and YouTube. GMMTV of Thailand wisely uploaded the series, with English subtitles, at almost the same time it was shown on Thai television. The effect was electric: the chat lines that were opened as soon as the series was uploaded buzzed with the viewers' reactions. And guess which country had the most passionate, the most emotional, reactions? The Latin Asian country called the Philippines. Why did it hold a whole region in the cup of its hand? 2Gether and the other BL series after that showed what many gay men did not have when they were growing up at the university: groups of friends, both straight and gay, who were openly supportive. That, and a milieu where homosexual acts were not seen as bizarre, or in Catholic Philippines, as forms of sin. The series showed that homosexuality is as normal as breathing; that families can be accepting and loving; and that life is worth living even if you dare to be different. And that a gay character does not have to live a tragic life, or die at the end of the TV series. Continues at https://www.msn.com/en-ph/news/opinion/thailand-s-bl-series-flies-high/ar-AA140GEr

  30. Unlike others who advise you against taking risks, I am glad you seem willing to go beyond the saunas. I feel the same, but the saunas are so good that in my short visits I do not have much time left to explore anything else. However, if you are willing and able to explore relationships beyond the cabins, sauna boys are an amazing gate to a Brazil most foreigners cannot experience.

  31. How very true! Despite what some people try to make out Brazil is very dangerous and foreigners are sitting ducks. My advice to anyone visiting Brazil is stick to the rentboy saunas which are fabulous and have a great and safe time.

  33. Part 5 The boys They are really numerous. I did not stay long enough to know if the impression of always seeing the same faces could arise. As for me, I have always been surprised by new appearances. They are young, shapely and often very well hung (not all of them). Do not expect to find the diversity that you can find in European cities or the splendours of the rim of the Mediterranean. But lot of cute guys most often very courteous. There are three dominant physical types: - blacks and mixed black (from very dark to very very light) - The same ones with a hint of Indian blood (the ones I would call very Cariocas) - Typical Portuguese whites but rarely hairy. Often with a hipster beard that I found a little old fashioned. You will find cute bodybuilders, tall skinny guys with a third leg … All very clean. Smokers even use mouthwash before kissing you. They are very open-minded in the cabin, generally doing what was planned before entering the cabin. They kiss and I haven't had my ass licked so much in 30 years. On the other hand, they are very bad suckers of nipples. Those who speak English are to be avoided, they are the stickiest. Some impressed me a little more than others. Both meet at Pointe 202: - The first one I will call the cowboy. Boorish, some would say vulgar. Sexy, gorgeous body, portuguese peasant face. He was acting like an elephant in a china shop. Always wearing long nylon shorts. Natural hair. The other boys looked at him with contempt because he wasn’t as distinguished as them. I loved him, he was divine in bed. - The second, tall, thin and muscular. Metis. Literally sniffed me when we entered the cabin. A great fucker.

  34. The staff Unlike some divas on this site, I can't brag about knowing the owners of the place. But they were always correct and anxious to make sure everything was going well for me. The Pointe 202 team pushes consumption a little more, but nothing unbearable. The bartender of this place is a simple and friendly guy. He prepares a very good caipirinha. Overall the teams are friendly with the possible exception of a masseur at pointe who seemed too hungry and a short-legged 117 bartender. The staff is mixed. In the two saunas, women take care of the surveillance of the rooms and the change of sheets. The locker rooms are watched by a man (probably a former gigolo) at the pointe and a very skinny woman (or trans) at 117. Both are adorable and watch very well. It happened to me ( having drunk a little too much ) to forget the keys of my locker on the door and when I realized it I had a big fright. But the man watching had picked it up and returned it to me with a big smile. There was absolutely nothing missing in my locker.

  35. Part 3 Places (services, atmosphere and cleanliness) The two places include a reception, a room with broadcast of heterosexual porn (+ mainstream tv at 117) 2 bars (1 indoor bar + 1 smoking bar at 117) (1 bar on the ground floor and 1 bar on the 2nd floor at the tip) 1 sauna or steam room (I haven't tried it I hate it) the pointy jacuzzi doesn't work and that's good. As for the musical atmosphere, the peak passed on the screens of the bar on the ground floor of English-language video clips from the last 5 decades. Almost always the same (I still have the remix of it's not right it's ok by Whitney Houston in my ears) which give the place a very particular, nostalgic and pleasant mark. At 117, nondescript music in the rather depressing and freezing indoor bar and more Brazilian music in the outdoor bar where young people pretend to have fun. The rooms are air-conditioned with a TV that broadcasts porn, most often with a shower, they smell more or less good. The fitted sheets are changed between each client. Customers Mostly Brazilian regulars. They are the ones who bring these places to life. In any case during my stay, very few foreigners, a few Anglo-Saxons, Spanish speakers and French speakers. But always in the minority. My shyness prevented me from exchanging as much as I would have liked with other customers, but a certain complicity was born with a Brazilian who I initially took for a German.

  36. Part 2 The places of perdition (point and 117) I would have liked to try new meio mundo or some cinemas but as it was my first trip I preferred not to spread myself too thin. It was probably a mistake. Prices: I almost always paid 150 reals to the boys. However, two offered me the pass at 100 euros to convince me to choose them. Others asked me for 200 because they felt that I liked them very much. I did not accept, they settled for 150. I think Brazilian customers pay a maximum of 100 reals. I've seen some only give out a 50 ticket. So if you want to bargain you can get, I think, the 100 euro pass. I don't like to negotiate and 150 seemed fine to me. When a boy interests you, you ask (or he asks) for a room key at reception. They give you the key with condom and gel. You pay the boy immediately after the pass. While he returns the key, you go and get his money from the changing room. When there is a crowd, you have to wait your turn to access the cabins. When you leave the establishment you pay the entrance + the use of rooms + the drinks you have consumed.

  37. That,s the problem of rich people . Poor are taking your advice and taking train. Cheaper and often faster option. Of course solidarity of rich and poor starts at midnight and lasts till 6 am when trains are not in operation.

  38. It went smoothly although at times it felt like night train as so much of track is in tunnels so it was dark behind the window. Vientiane station also far from the center which considering is on flat plain is bit surprising. Transport to the city very well organized, I took busfor 15000 to central bus station which is in vicinity of my hotel but shared taxis aplenty . Word of warning, go to toilet on the train as on arrival one's available were closed. Hopefully due to open very soon . Mysteries of ticket sales - agent was told no 1st class for today, I visited 1st class carriage and it was half empty. Overall very positive experience, with ironed schedule either city may be day trip destination from the other. All that checking and herding is nuisance but we need to understand that for locals rail travel is unheard of experience until last year so thet need to be taught how to find a space and behave. It was sad view to see a bit of trash thrown on the floor here and there in otherwise spotless carriage. Old habits are dying slow. I will post few pictures soon.

  40. I have noticed. I spent the first two years sending money to family members and friends who lost their incomes. Yet no one is calling to socialize their losses with a special tax on a certain industry's customers. This is absolutely galling. Billionaire hotel chain owners do not socialize their profits in good times yet feel entitled to having the government help them socialize their losses in bad times.

  41. There's such a huge oversupply of hotels in Thailand that it helps keep prices down. Bangkok has so many very nice hotels that are not all part of the big international chains.

  42. There's no sex. In fact, there's not even any sexual tension. No one hitting on anyone else. And now that I think about it, that's kind of surprising. These parties attract tons of Chinese who all seem to show up in big groups of friends. There is some mingling between groups and some sharing of deets over WeChat. The majority of this crowd seems to be in their early 20s. They all have tight, gym-trained bodies. They all lose their shirts before they hit the main hall, which is tightly packed. Most of them wear ... what are they called? Halters? Holsters? They're leather or neon plastic straps laced around the pecs and shoulders. I first noticed them becoming a gay fashion trend about eight years ago. This Chinese crowd also snorts a lot of cocaine, right out in the open. Kind of flagrantly. I figure their fathers are high-up party officials and they're used to getting away with stuff. I think that, like me, they feel a sense of euphoric freedom at these parties but that their sense of euphoria is much more intense than mine. And there's always a contingent of Japanese bears. They form big long lines, with one grabbing and hugging a friend from behind until there's like 15 or more fat, sweaty Japanese dudes all holding on to one another as if for dear life and swaying from side to side. These swaying mountains of flesh are actually kind of a nuisance as the bears are big enough to knock you off balance if they sway into you and the human chains they form are long and impossible to get around. I'm convinced the Japanese bears are all on Molly because they look really, really happy! There are also fair-sized contingents from Thailand, of course, as well as from Singapore and other Asian countries. These groups also have tight, gym-trained bodies and are also shirtless but wearing those halter things. Finally there is a smattering of Westerners with their boyfriends or small groups of friends. Some of us take our shirts off and you can tell that maybe at one time many, many years ago we had tight, gym-trained bodies. Or maybe we never did and want to take off our shirts anyway. We're drunk and it feels good! There's just one huge floor with risers on either side set aside for guys who buy much more expensive "VIP" tickets. These guys all have great bodies and seem to buy the VIP tickets specifically to stand on those risers and show off their chiseled physiques. I know what you're thinking, and, yes, I do a lot of staring and drooling at these events -- and promising myself to get back into a serious gym routine. A lot of the DJs seem to play a similar genre of EDM. Some of the DJs really get the crowd moving, and their ability to do so is probably the best reason to go to these events. It's just fantastic to lose yourself in the music, in the euphoria, and become one with 10,000 other gay men. I love it! And there are no breaks. The music never stops. Elaborate, theatrical shows take place but they seem to start spontaneously. The DJ sets don't seem to be interrupted, they just segue from one to the other. There are also lines of muscle-bound go-go boys from all over Asia who occasionally parade along the stage, the center of which juts out into the crowd. But if you got bored at an SK party after one hour, I'm sure you won't like the White Party. It's basically the exact same thing, just maybe not as big or crowded. Now that I'm typing this I'm wondering what this year's party will be like with all the fine bodies from China confined to their home country? And that reminds me: My usual New Year's hotel, Sathorn Vista, is always packed with fine young gay Chinese guys, some of whom rent out the entire top floor and hold huge orgies every night. They're so huge the organizers have to station their own English-speaking doormen outside the hotel to manage the long line of horny youngsters waiting to get in. There are also very polite Chinese doormen stationed in the elevator lobby. I've never been invited up to one of these orgies, but I get a feeling I know exactly what's going on up there. Also, Sathorn Vista is an excellent place to stay if you go to Bangkok for the gay nightlife. Check it out! Hmm, apparently there is no word limit on this forum.

  43. Just go as a drag queen like I do, nobody would dare to complain about an old lady in the party.

  44. Have you been to Bali....?? I was there for 10 days...my 3rd time in Bali once in Jakarta. ...so much cheaper than Thailand. Same issue on apps, fake pics, so you have to screen them well. But some are so nice and it feels less commercial than Thailand. But the biggest thing I think you'd like, every guy I hooked up with, went right to rimming. I'm not into it, don't rim....but if someone wants to rim, I'll let them, for a bit. Plus there's cut (Muslims) and uncut (Balinese) guys there ....I like someone to drink with, so that's a bit of a challenge, lol

  45. I just spent 3 days in Rio and had a great time. I had fun at both 202 and 117. The day and a half that were decent beach days were perfect--not too hot and good crowd at Farme. It's worth remembering security issues even if you've been there many times like I have. It three days I saw three thefts--including mine! First day walking toward the beach at the end of Farme I saw a crowd of people chasing a little kid (probably not more than 11 or 12) who I think had just taken a cellular -- crowd was catching up to him and he tossed the phone into the street and got away after the crowd went for the phone--lots of yelling but no violence. Second day I met up with some friends at the beach who live in Rio. They were trying to find me by texting me but I always leave my phone in the apartment. Glad I did that day. We were standing, talking and getting caught up. Suddenly I noticed that my bag which had been directly at my feet a second ago was gone. Only lost about 150reals and an old Kindle reader. I always keep my apartment keys tied to the string of my bathing suit and guard them more than anything. My friends all said(and these guys grew up in Rio) that I was smart to be a paranoid tourist--that if it had been their bag they would have lost keys, phones, cards. The third incident was the most dramatic. I met a nice German couple (boyfriend/girlfriend) at dinner. On Sunday I was walking the closed street along the beach in Ipanema and ran into them again. They were saying how Rio seemed so much safer than they expected. Literally not a minute later out of nowhere a guy ran up and grabbed a chain off the girl's neck. A loud scream and a welt left behind but otherwise no harm. He was a block away before anyone could react. We all know to leave our jewels at home but I guess they didn't get the memo--still shocking though. The point to recanting this is just to remind you not to get too comfortable and let your guard down. I have been pretty lucky in going there for 20 years but close encounters like these remind me to always be careful. I'm not sure crime is getting worse but 3 incidents close up in three days has me wondering.

    Why not retire to Thailand?

while just a joke when come to airplanes it may prove true when comes to trains as sometimes different carriages are going to different destinations splitting somewhere on the way. as for arrival at the same time I recall situation from Honolulu years ago when for some reason boarding for delayed Melbourne bound flight was quite unruly with people crowing up instead of lining neatly. Seeing what's going on, desperate employee announced though loud speaker ' please line up as captain assures us all passengers will arrive at the same time". It did the trick almost immediately with most of us hanging head low in bit of shame

  47. From AFP By Alexis Hontang with Fulya Ozerkan in Istanbul Almost a decade after fleeing China, more than 50 Uyghurs are languishing in Thai detention facilities, living in constant fear of being sent back. China has been accused of grave human rights abuses in Xinjiang against the Uyghurs dating back to at least the 1990s, with the United States branding Beijing's treatment of the mostly Muslim minority a "genocide". A damning UN report released in August detailed violations including torture and forced labour and "large-scale" arbitrary detention in what Beijing calls vocational training centres. Many Uyghurs have fled China over the years, with some travelling through Myanmar to Thailand, but dozens have ended up stuck in detention there -- the apparent victims of what observers say is the kingdom's desire to avoid angering either Beijing or Washington. The group of Uyghurs, arrested in 2013 and 2014, are currently being held in immigration centres around Thailand while authorities ponder their fate. Neither their precise location nor their exact number is clear -- a group of Thai rights organisations says there are 52, but a senator working on the case says 59. Immigration authorities have not responded to AFP requests for information.
