Again apologies about pieces. Right after he left there was phone from airport that my luggage arrived and they plan to deliver it tonight to my hotel but I had better idea. Since I, m flying out tomorrow I, ll pick it up in the airport on my way. My laundry dried in meantime so I was set. Joy of flying with discounts I guess. So blood pressure up again and quick decision to check who flies to PP next and for how much. Bangkok Airways it was, in 90 minutes. Quick trip to mezzanine to check price, 5500 baht, sold. Other ticket may be wasted but half day in Phnom Penh gained. If I left at 17.30 I, d be there well after dark so no, I rather lose ticket. Straight to check in and shortly I was in the air, after about 36 hours there ending my 23rd trip, shortest ever but not boy deprived, leaving Thailand forever (until next time of course)

Sorry guys I kept this thread neglected for good while busy doing nothing i. e. travelling. So if you recall I had unexpected reunion with boy not seen many years. A taxi from the airport to Silom is around 500 bht it's nothing compared to Taxi costs in my country there's no way after 11 hours filgh and heavy luggage I will shake myself to the airport train.

You're correct, it happens a lot less in Jomtien Complex than Silom Soi 4. Having said that, when it does happen in Jomtien Complex it's normally a straight Russian couple, and their look is often more than shock. Sometimes it's pure horror. Since it was a relatively short trip, I decided not to go against my circadian rhythm. My eyelids usually feel like the heaviest objects in the world around 3-8 pm BKK time. So I took a quick nap. Second day - Sunday Today is the day my neighbor to the north - my twin brother from another mother and another father will arrive. Bert, I've visited 4 times. Medellin, Cartagena, Bogota. Never felt unsafe. However, since there IS a safety issue, I followed common sense rules pertaining to Latin America. No hay problema. Actually, no habia problema.

The train is a good idea however it can also depend on the time of day or night as well, I find it annoying when people get on packed trains at rush hour and they have to try and squeeze their luggage in as well. Which is why I don't take the train from the airport, the time my flight gets in and I get through immigration and customs the trains are packed full, I guess it would be different if I got in around midday. Sure some people only take carry on with them when they fly but most don't.

That,s the problem of rich people . Poor are taking your advice and taking train. Cheaper and often faster option. Of course solidarity of rich and poor starts at midnight and lasts till 6 am when trains are not in operation.

The trip from Bkk to Pattaya and our brief visit there was a lot of fun. The driver (who was paid for his work) was a friend of one in our group and did a really good job of escorting us to the various venues when there. He also knew the quickest route to get to Pattaya. Once out of Bkk we had a hassle free easy journey. On the way to Jontiem Complex (JC) we stopped off on Beach Road for some sea air. Driving around Pattaya I get the impression a lot of Indian visitors much more than previously. Anyway: At JC we had a stroll up and down that soi. Had a drink at @homebar jontium before having a very tasty Thai meal at Diverium bar which is in the complex. Speaking for myself I was impressed with JC. Mainly open air "bar beers". Comfortable seating and plenty of eye candy. I got good vibes from the area, cute twinky type lithe guys and apparently the JC stays open until 2.00am so I am told- though some establishment in the complex may close earlier. I get the impression that JC is on the whole well run and managed, very much geared to appealing to the farang customer who likes a certain type. And also: Whilst in Soi 4, Silom, Bkk there is a constant stream of mainly straight tourists walking up and down the soi wanting to be shocked; none of that -or a lot less --in JC. Next stop Boys Town (BT). Walking around got a bit dismayed by the area as Covid really did devastate and the surrounds with abandoned out of business places an eye sore. That said every individual bar we went to had some nice lookers in varying numbers. Actually went inside for drinks at Toy Boys, BBB, Dream Boys and X Boys .Did not have time to get to A-bomb and walked past Pikky bar (open air bar) though did not see many guys there. It was a Thursday night and overall a distinct lack of customers.We caught the show at BBB which was not bad.The night I was there despite some women customers they were not an irritation but maybe different on other nights. A lot of those on the stage in BBB trying to give the impression they are "real men" but quite frankly the likes of Tawan , Jupiter, Dream boy Patpong, and so on in Bkk much nearer the mark on the score. And as to the Dream Boys near BT it was so lacking customers the boys were sitting inside and outside waiting for a customer to arrive before going on the stage.Yet some head turning cuties when they did get on the stage. Nevertheless to quote gayinpattaya who writes above: "The fact is, Jomtien Complex is where it's at now" Difficult to argue with that ; though of course some people find BT a more convenient location. Customers a mix of straights and gays. A lot of dancing in the aisles and some nice lookers around. Better to go there in groups or with others. Very much Esan music style. Seems you either buy beer or a bottle of whisky. If you like neither can only go for non alcoholic. Nearing closing time we had just about had enough and off we go to be chaffeured back home, with many nice memories.

Construction workers doing new sidewalks on Silom Rd. made quick work of installing a new entrance/driveway for Soi 4. The new—and outrageously noisy—bar at the opposite side, BiPolar, has become a Friday-Saturday only club 🙂. A new Thai eatery, Silver Sand, occupies it otherwise. It’s worth glancing at the menu if for no other reason than to gaze at the very cute captain within. Although I can’t confirm it, it’s my hope that BiPolar will confine itself to the second floor above the restaurant, thereby hopefully reducing the blare.

Are you an idiot or just pretending to be one? If Bill Heineke has his way, every hotel would have no choice but to add these charges. Of course the hotels could charge more without a government mandate, though those that do would chase many of their customers to hotels not charging such a fee. By getting the government to mandate this tax, Heineke is ensuring he won't have to compete on price; all hotels would charge the fee, and the only choice tourists would have would be to go to another country.

Vacation is never long enough but this particular one was unusually short. I landed around 11:30 pm on a Saturday night and there was no line at the immigration desks. After 40 min or so, after collecting my checked luggage, I was already on my way to Silom. That hot and humid wave hitting your face once stepping out of the glass doors never changed. The taxi costed me about 425 baht from the airport to Raya hotel. Been a repeat customer, check in was a breeze. They still need 1000 baht cash or your credit card number as a deposit. Until this trip, I used to stay at grand deluxe rooms but this time, I decided for a change- a suite room. The difference is a good size kitchenette with utensils, a regular size fridge, and a small microwave. Grand deluxe rooms are open hall types and this suite room is more like one bedroom apartment with separate sitting and dinning areas. As others have mentioned here, their front entrance is closed at nights and we will need to use the elevator in the back. By 1ish, I was all settled in my room. Despite a brief thought of roaming around in Silom, more than 24 hours trip made me pass out after a nice and long shower.

Sunee is dead. I agree it's not worth the visit. Winner Boy's grand re-opening was not so grand. If you want a nice restaurant, look at Cafe Blu. Yupins is over-rated, total slop if you ask me. Poseidon is very good but you may have to book. They get very busy. It's well deserved. BoyzTown is dead. Been a few times recently. Pikki Bar is the only busy bar, and again it's well deserved. The boys are treated well (paid 100baht for boy drinks) and it's a welcoming and fun atmosphere. ToyBoy have bumped their prices again. It's now 280 baht for any drink (including a bottle of water). 1 or 2 twinks and a bunch of fat aging taxi drivers. A friend of mine stormed out the other day when instead of being served a JD and coke, he was given Blend 285 with what we presume was some sugar. Disgraceful behaviour. We were a group of 4, who have been regulars for many years. All of us have said we will never return to ToyBoy. I have heard many expats reporting a great time in DreamBoy, with 30+ boys on stage. That may well be worth a visit. The fact is, Jomtien Complex is where it's at now. Tonight (Loy Krathong) it was packed. Madrid Tavern will not return to Patpong acorrding to the owner I talked to few days ago so legend is closed permanently and for good unless somebody else will take name and premises over. Restaurant relocated to new location in CHAROEN Krung soi 49 and is now named Madrid Cafe. Happy to report food, included famous pizzas remain as tasty as ever. Prices more it less also the same. New location has two levels and toilet has the shower so bring your towel, lol. It, s in the house formerly occupied by the owner. Soi 49 is roughly across the street from Assumption Roman Catholic cathedral compound on the stretch of CHAROEN Krung between Silom and Suriwong. Long but doable walk from Silom ghetto or take a BTS to Saphan Taksin and it, s perhaps 7 minute's walk from there. Once you find soi 49 just walk in, at the end there's sharp turn left and Madrid is in 3rd building facing elevated highway. Sounds complex but in reality is very easy to find, just go there Bon apetit !

Reason: only trains with toilets that do not drop the droppings on the tracks are allowed to enter this high-level all-concrete thing. BUT rescue is near: it is now planned for dec. to switch the best trains (labelled as SP=Special Express, with extra high surcharge and no 3d class) to it-new loco are also coming in. These trains seen on the ´socials´ are in fact training runs for the drivers (how to get up the slopes without failing or running backward........ Again Japan was willing to sell for a few yen some old stock of Nihon/Yipun. The track gauge is a few cm different-but thats easy to resolve. The less graded trains locals/rapid etc will as for now continue to start/finish at old HuaLamPong, but will shortly be restricted to Bang Sue-flat level (next to the new terminal, the old junction). This includes the 1/day (mo-fr only) early morning train to Patters. (this from a very well informed Thai person/former senior SRT official who keeps track of all developments, in Laos too, on trains/rails in another world-wide forum).

As for bar patrons wanting to bring their own beer into the premises, the bars can implement a cover charge, redeemable for the first drink. And each time a second drink is ordered, payment should be asked for immediately. Personally, I'd long wished for the bars to do away with the checkbin system and adopt a pay-as-you-go system. But given the ridiculous inefficiency of their cash handling and change-giving (deliberately, I know) they must also migrate to card payments at the same time. Or are they trying to hide revenue from the tax man?

Several guys made the short list but the beaming smile on one sealed it and I agreed to one hour oil for 350 baht. I took shower and when I returned my guy had arrived and was stripping down.
