Hotel tycoon wants to charge tourists more
Phoenixblue and 7 others reacted to BiggusDikkus for a topic
I have noticed. I spent the first two years sending money to family members and friends who lost their incomes. Yet no one is calling to socialize their losses with a special tax on a certain industry's customers. This is absolutely galling. Billionaire hotel chain owners do not socialize their profits in good times yet feel entitled to having the government help them socialize their losses in bad times.8 points -
Entrance to Soi 4
WelshGuyUK and 6 others reacted to reader for a topic
Construction workers doing new sidewalks on Silom Rd. made quick work of installing a new entrance/driveway for Soi 4. The new—and outrageously noisy—bar at the opposite side, BiPolar, has become a Friday-Saturday only club 🙂. A new Thai eatery, Silver Sand, occupies it otherwise. It’s worth glancing at the menu if for no other reason than to gaze at the very cute captain within. Although I can’t confirm it, it’s my hope that BiPolar will confine itself to the second floor above the restaurant, thereby hopefully reducing the blare.7 points -

Are you an idiot or just pretending to be one? If Bill Heineke has his way, every hotel would have no choice but to add these charges. Of course the hotels could charge more without a government mandate, though those that do would chase many of their customers to hotels not charging such a fee. By getting the government to mandate this tax, Heineke is ensuring he won't have to compete on price; all hotels would charge the fee, and the only choice tourists would have would be to go to another country.5 points -

No is not, nevermind it,s gay scene it,s one of world greatest cities and can occupy you 8 days, a, week 25 hours a day Yes I do. While trip preparation is on of joys of traveling don, t over do it. One bar boy smile or massage one flex may derail your plans, no matter how carefully crafted. Decide how many days you want to spend in each location, book your accommodation, take twice as much money and only half intended goods and leave rest to a fate. As for hotels most advice above, while well intended steers you toward more upscale properties. In my opinion splurge on guys instead. My favorites in Bangkok, economical by by no means shabby are Raya, Furama Sathorn Xclusive and Baan Silom, rooms not claustrophobic like Quarter Silom but spacious and no problem with guests. In Pattaya in Boyztown area Copa and Classrooms, in Jomtien Zing and The Venue. If you opt for Agate check their own website as rates may be lower than on most booking sites which is by no means universal.4 points

Second day - Sunday Today is the day my neighbor to the north - my twin brother from another mother and another father will arrive. We coordinated before our trips so that we could spend next 7-8 days together in BKK. He will not arrive until some time in the afternoon, and I was already up since 6ish, nice and fresh, fully charged. So I decided to get a massage in my room, contacted sabaidee through Line and a twunk was already in my bed in no time. He has a super cute baby’s face and a muscular body - exactly in the way I like. Bonus is that he kissed like a pro. Massage was just under average like other guys from sabaidee but afters were quite satisfying. We exchanged contacts and meant to repeat which never sadly happened until I returned.3 points

While US$8/night extra might not seem too taxing for a lot of tourists, there are two issues with this. Firstly, there is no guarantee that the monies collected will indeed go to the industry. Secondly, many tourists will say that taxes of this nature look, feel and actually are rather petty and mean, leaving some unpleasant aftertaste in their mouth. So, instead of helping the industry, the tax will actually achieve exactly the opposite.3 points -

If this Heineken wants to squeeze more profits out of his empire, let him raise rates just as airlines have raised fares. If consumers are willing to pay his rates, that’s free enterprise. But he’s looking for a “beard” in the form of a government mandate. The Thailand unemployment rate fell to 1.37% in the second quarter of the year. The country can not even attract sufficient foreign workers for its burgeoning construction or food processing industries. There was a recent article that the hospitality industry was having problems attracting service workers. Doesn’t sound like it needs government intervention to me.2 points -

Expats say they are confused by semi-electronic extension visa offer
splinter1949 and one other reacted to reader for a topic
I have twice applied successfully for an electronic 60-day tourist visa. It was done through the Thai Immigration portal and processed by nearest Thai consulate. No need to travel there or physically send passport. Cost ($45) paid by credit card. they key to making this as painless as possible is to assemble copies of documents they require before applying and follow step-by-step instructions. The tourist visa can be extended an additional 30 days. See OP. IMO, it’s as easy now to arrive in Thailand as it was pre-Covid. And it you enter by end of March, most westerners get 45 days. As for tourist numbers, most flights are arriving full and carriers are regularly adding capacity. Thai just disclosed that it intends to reactive some of its A380s along with some 777s and A330s.. I can tell you that the number of Japanese tourists has increased markedly in the past few weeks, based on what I see nightly when I walk Soi Thaniya and what massage workers on Soi Six tell me. Visitors from Hong Kong, Taiwan and Korea also on the upswing.2 points -

Very good point SIR ! And as pointed above no guarantee that surcharge will be spent as advertised. If Bill wants to charge that extra he can feel free to without asking government to mandate it. What,s next ? Bar owners asking to mandate 100 baht surcharge to every off fee?2 points -
Vacation is never long enough but this particular one was unusually short. I landed around 11:30 pm on a Saturday night and there was no line at the immigration desks. After 40 min or so, after collecting my checked luggage, I was already on my way to Silom. That hot and humid wave hitting your face once stepping out of the glass doors never changed. The taxi costed me about 425 baht from the airport to Raya hotel. Been a repeat customer, check in was a breeze. They still need 1000 baht cash or your credit card number as a deposit. Until this trip, I used to stay at grand deluxe rooms but this time, I decided for a change- a suite room. The difference is a good size kitchenette with utensils, a regular size fridge, and a small microwave. Grand deluxe rooms are open hall types and this suite room is more like one bedroom apartment with separate sitting and dinning areas. As others have mentioned here, their front entrance is closed at nights and we will need to use the elevator in the back. By 1ish, I was all settled in my room. Despite a brief thought of roaming around in Silom, more than 24 hours trip made me pass out after a nice and long shower.2 points

Boca Chica? Skip it!
maump reacted to snwbrdr015 for a topic
Even tho I’m a fan of Santo Domingo, where the hung boys are a plenty, I have to inform you about Boca Chica. Because my God, what a total dump this place is. Boca Chica is the ‘go to’ beach resort you go to from Santo Domingo if you like a beach break. They should rename this shithole into ‘Junkyard Beach’. The streets, the ally’s and yes the beach and water are completely littered with (plastic) garbage. The whole area is simply a pile of waste. On top of that you get hassled by street vendors with every step you take. I mean, I’ve been around. Traveled to many (less developed) countries. But this place is like fucking Monrovia, Africa during the Sierra Leonian civil war! It’s too much shit. After dark the female prostitutes come out to give an extra kick to the place. More of a kick in the nutsack if you ask me. So at night your strolling around through a gone to waste junkyard city filled with litter and dirty hoes. At the beach they rip you a new asshole every time they present the bill. You start of with a (overpriced) 200 peso beer and 450 pesos snack, but hey…you’re at the beach enjoying people watching. You and up with a 1500 pesos bill because of taxes (shitty, but normal), service charge and a fucking ‘table charge’ because you use the table as 1 person (eventho the rest of the tables are empty). Yes, I hooked up with hot guys and checked out the local love motel for a trio (since my hotel was strictly no visitors). But that prime meat can easily be found in Santo Doming or be taxied in from here. So: Bocha Chica? Fuck it. Skip it. Special note to my locally stumbled upon US friends (and forum readers): you guys are awesome. Thanks for the laughs! (And then this delightful surprise from a local 19-year old to end on a positive note 🙂 )1 point -
I figure I might start a thread as we're getting closer to December. For those who aren't familiar, BKK White Party is (i think) the largest gay circuit party in Asia. It makes it's return this year from Decmber 29 - January 1. Anyone going? Anyone been to previous years, what did you think? I'm going for the NYE party with a +1, i might do the white party the next day but i'll play that by ear. https://whitepartybangkok.com/ 2020 after movie to give an idea of what to expect1 point

Since it was a relatively short trip, I decided not to go against my circadian rhythm. My eyelids usually feel like the heaviest objects in the world around 3-8 pm BKK time. So I took a quick nap. My partner in crime has arrived that afternoon and he was staying one floor above under one same roof. Indeed it was exactly the same room where i stayed during my previous trip. That room had served me and my guests very well and I was quite confident that my friend would love it too. We decided to start our trip with Jupiter that evening. Since it was halloween, jupiter had a special show. Compared to my two visits to BKK during pandemic, things have significantly changed. IMHO, jupiter these days has the most decent shows and the highest numbers of handsome muscular guys. Admission was 400 baht (one drink included) and off fee remained the same at 500 baht. On entry, it was a party of two and it magically grew to four on the exit. Around midnight or so, my friend and myself found ourselves walking happily in pairs, under the yellow lights of Thaniya back to Raya.1 point

Thanks for this elaborate description of what goes inside the white party @BiggusDikkus. I've seen the big groups of Chinese in Silom. You can find them at DJ station and other clubs and in many saunas, especially R3. They tend to be a bit sticky rice, but when I was in Bangkok in November of 2019 I met two of them. They were both on tina(ice) when I met them, so definitely many of them are into drugs and prefer to come to Thailand because it's more accessible than in China, at least that's what one one of the guys I met told me. I'm also aware they like to throw big orgies/groups. On the same trip, I went to the apartment hotel in Silom of one of my Filipino friends that spends part of the year in Bangkok. As we were going inside the building, one of balcony doors was opened and there was loud music coming out of it, mixed with feeble moaning. My friend told me it was a group of Chinese throwing an orgy. He said it actually had been going on for two days. Didn't know about Sathorn Vista tough and that it might be Chinese orgy central. I might stay there for Songran. I believe this end-of-year in Bangkok ,there will be a high number of people from other Asian countries, like Japan, Korea, Taiwan, Singapore as it's their first NYE in two years that they can travel freely. I'm still surprised though that with so many young and hot bodies in such close proximity nothing sexual happens. Always thought there was kind of a dark corner in these circuit parties where people could fool around. What do you think is the best time to go there? As I said, I just really have a bite of it, not really trying to finish the meal.1 point

Bangkok White Party - NYE 2022
Phoenixblue reacted to BiggusDikkus for a topic
There's no sex. In fact, there's not even any sexual tension. No one hitting on anyone else. And now that I think about it, that's kind of surprising. These parties attract tons of Chinese who all seem to show up in big groups of friends. There is some mingling between groups and some sharing of deets over WeChat. The majority of this crowd seems to be in their early 20s. They all have tight, gym-trained bodies. They all lose their shirts before they hit the main hall, which is tightly packed. Most of them wear ... what are they called? Halters? Holsters? They're leather or neon plastic straps laced around the pecs and shoulders. I first noticed them becoming a gay fashion trend about eight years ago. This Chinese crowd also snorts a lot of cocaine, right out in the open. Kind of flagrantly. I figure their fathers are high-up party officials and they're used to getting away with stuff. I think that, like me, they feel a sense of euphoric freedom at these parties but that their sense of euphoria is much more intense than mine. And there's always a contingent of Japanese bears. They form big long lines, with one grabbing and hugging a friend from behind until there's like 15 or more fat, sweaty Japanese dudes all holding on to one another as if for dear life and swaying from side to side. These swaying mountains of flesh are actually kind of a nuisance as the bears are big enough to knock you off balance if they sway into you and the human chains they form are long and impossible to get around. I'm convinced the Japanese bears are all on Molly because they look really, really happy! There are also fair-sized contingents from Thailand, of course, as well as from Singapore and other Asian countries. These groups also have tight, gym-trained bodies and are also shirtless but wearing those halter things. Finally there is a smattering of Westerners with their boyfriends or small groups of friends. Some of us take our shirts off and you can tell that maybe at one time many, many years ago we had tight, gym-trained bodies. Or maybe we never did and want to take off our shirts anyway. We're drunk and it feels good! There's just one huge floor with risers on either side set aside for guys who buy much more expensive "VIP" tickets. These guys all have great bodies and seem to buy the VIP tickets specifically to stand on those risers and show off their chiseled physiques. I know what you're thinking, and, yes, I do a lot of staring and drooling at these events -- and promising myself to get back into a serious gym routine. A lot of the DJs seem to play a similar genre of EDM. Some of the DJs really get the crowd moving, and their ability to do so is probably the best reason to go to these events. It's just fantastic to lose yourself in the music, in the euphoria, and become one with 10,000 other gay men. I love it! And there are no breaks. The music never stops. Elaborate, theatrical shows take place but they seem to start spontaneously. The DJ sets don't seem to be interrupted, they just segue from one to the other. There are also lines of muscle-bound go-go boys from all over Asia who occasionally parade along the stage, the center of which juts out into the crowd. But if you got bored at an SK party after one hour, I'm sure you won't like the White Party. It's basically the exact same thing, just maybe not as big or crowded. Now that I'm typing this I'm wondering what this year's party will be like with all the fine bodies from China confined to their home country? And that reminds me: My usual New Year's hotel, Sathorn Vista, is always packed with fine young gay Chinese guys, some of whom rent out the entire top floor and hold huge orgies every night. They're so huge the organizers have to station their own English-speaking doormen outside the hotel to manage the long line of horny youngsters waiting to get in. There are also very polite Chinese doormen stationed in the elevator lobby. I've never been invited up to one of these orgies, but I get a feeling I know exactly what's going on up there. Also, Sathorn Vista is an excellent place to stay if you go to Bangkok for the gay nightlife. Check it out! Hmm, apparently there is no word limit on this forum.1 point -

These parties are my happy place. I don't think they're billed as men-only events, but they pretty much are. They are so god damn gay! And when you get 10,000 young gay men (plus one old motherfucker) together to let loose, well, it's a sense of freedom I've felt nowhere else ... except at the SK Parties. I can still go to the SK parties, but my boss has banned me from taking off over New Year's because I did so too many years in a row (specifically to go to the White Party) that my coworkers grew angry that they always had to give up their New Year's holidays. By the way, GCircuit, which puts on the SK parties during the Songkran holidays, has begun sending out emails about the upcoming event.1 point -

Sunee is dead. I agree it's not worth the visit. Winner Boy's grand re-opening was not so grand. If you want a nice restaurant, look at Cafe Blu. Yupins is over-rated, total slop if you ask me. Poseidon is very good but you may have to book. They get very busy. It's well deserved. BoyzTown is dead. Been a few times recently. Pikki Bar is the only busy bar, and again it's well deserved. The boys are treated well (paid 100baht for boy drinks) and it's a welcoming and fun atmosphere. ToyBoy have bumped their prices again. It's now 280 baht for any drink (including a bottle of water). 1 or 2 twinks and a bunch of fat aging taxi drivers. A friend of mine stormed out the other day when instead of being served a JD and coke, he was given Blend 285 with what we presume was some sugar. Disgraceful behaviour. We were a group of 4, who have been regulars for many years. All of us have said we will never return to ToyBoy. I have heard many expats reporting a great time in DreamBoy, with 30+ boys on stage. That may well be worth a visit. The fact is, Jomtien Complex is where it's at now. Tonight (Loy Krathong) it was packed. In the last week there are SO MANY new boys around, it's a great time to be in Jomtien Complex. Enjoy your trip!1 point -

Madrid Tavern will not return to Patpong acorrding to the owner I talked to few days ago so legend is closed permanently and for good unless somebody else will take name and premises over. Restaurant relocated to new location in CHAROEN Krung soi 49 and is now named Madrid Cafe. Happy to report food, included famous pizzas remain as tasty as ever. Prices more it less also the same. New location has two levels and toilet has the shower so bring your towel, lol. It, s in the house formerly occupied by the owner. Soi 49 is roughly across the street from Assumption Roman Catholic cathedral compound on the stretch of CHAROEN Krung between Silom and Suriwong. Long but doable walk from Silom ghetto or take a BTS to Saphan Taksin and it, s perhaps 7 minute's walk from there. Once you find soi 49 just walk in, at the end there's sharp turn left and Madrid is in 3rd building facing elevated highway. Sounds complex but in reality is very easy to find, just go there Bon apetit !1 point

I hope you realise that paticular journey is crashingly boring! A very good friend who adores trains and train journeys did it. Said it was a total waste of time and money. I've travelled around Europe by train and enjoyed amost all the trips. I've also treated myself to two non-European extravagant train trips. First was the two day Rocky Mountaineer from Vancouver across the Rockies to Banff. The Gold Leaf service with Panorama cars up top and dining underneath was magnificent. Meals were delicious and beautifully served. Passengers don't stay overnight on board. Instead we were put up in a hotel in Kamloops. Sometimes you never believe your luck. I put on an app the fact that I'd be in Kamloops for one night. Extraordinary! One young Chinese gay guy who lived there saw it and came over for dinner and afters. On my visit to Peru three years later I treated myself on the journey from Cusco to Machu Picchu by taking the Hiram Bingham train. This is more or less the equivalent of the Orient Express or the one that plies between Singapore and Bangkok - although much shorter. Fantastic experience! It leaves later than the other trains. Mimosas served before embarkation. Full a la carte breakfast in the dining car. Snacks in the open car at the back. Also last train to leave in the late afternoon, preceded by a proper afternoon tea at the hotel by the entrance to the site. Four course a la carte dinner with wines and then a jazz band playing in the back car. Extravagant? Sure - but one of the little luxuries that help make life exciting! I found Cusco one of the most fascinating cities I have visited. I'm sure most of us know the city's flag is the rainbow flag. The sense of history is stunning. Now I wish I'd spent more than 3 nights there. Were I to return, I'd love to explore more of the other valleys near Cusco.1 point

Hi Fellow Members, my apologies. I was pretty busy when I came back from Brazil because I just sold my house and moving out and moving in a new house and now I am pretty much settled. This is my first time logging in since June. About Mezzaninu, for me I would not come back because it maybe a hit or miss. I went there Friday and Saturday. Friday is pretty dead, maybe 5 guys. The one I like with smooth tan a bit muscular, cute face is with a customer in the table. He noticed I kept looking at him but he cannot leave his customer. So when I started walking around and went upstairs after 30min, we met by the stairs and he started talking and I told him let's go to the Suite and I believe he is not available yet, I think. He keep telling me I will suck you here and then he started kissing me in the hallway. I am shy so I walked towards the dark corner by the two rooms and he started unzipping my pants and wanted to suck me and I told him again let's go to the room and I was turned on (he has beautiful face and in his early 20's). He pulled out my cock and started sucking it for about 1-2 min because I told him to stop lets get a room and then he is asking for 50Reals for the BJ and he said I am garoto and I work for this and that and I needed to get paid for my service ( I speak little portuguese because I studied the language). The argument started and I dont want to make a scene so I gave him the 50Reals. I am ok with it but what i did not like is he did not tell me he will charge me for quick BJ. Too bad he is my type, it just turned me off. I only flirted with the Bar tender who is the regular stripper there. His name is Luis, you will find him in the FB posting of the sauna. He teased me with his body so I booked him the next day afternoon for a private. I just arrived that Friday afternoon and feeling so horny. Luis bottom for me with plus 100Reals, since I am so horny I said ok. Saturday, I am hoping to see more boys which there are more boys. only few muscular but the face not my type. when there is new guy who arrives and started showering, i just keep watching them and decide who to pick. I smiled at them and they smiled back at me and to the guy i like, i nod and he acknowledge it so when he came out of the shower he come to my table. too bad he is not a bottom because he had pretty face, nice smile and a big cock 😞 Oh he speaks English pretty good because he wanted to do OnlyFans. I didnt get him so I started to looking for other boys and one caught my eye. His looks is like those young guys on a skateboard. he is 22 but he has a child already when he was 18. and he said he will bottom so we went upstairs. not a super performer but you have to lead the action, tell him what to do and he will do it. kinda boring for me. I am shocked in Mezanninu because it is not well maintained now. Air conditioner not working in my room. Water is cold and the shocking thing is they ran out of towels when I am ready to go upstairs with the boy. the garoto said, pointing to the towels in the shelves, "what about that", the grandma who works there said "it's not to be used and when she pulled the towels, and showed it to us, there are holes in the middle ! and also the other towels so overused if you know what i mean by the look of it. So if you come on Saturday, there are many boys, i would say 25 and there are also lots of cute boys and mostly top. I dont bottom so it was not the best night for me in Brazil. then Sunday morning off to Rio, I was more excited than POA. I am coming back next year - Memorial Weekend (end of May thru June) in Rio and SP. I will skip POA for sometime for now.... thanks for reading...1 point

I was a committed traveller to unusual and sometimes risky places across the globe until my late forties....and my advice is exactly the same as vinapu's. "Be brave and just go". The trips , journeys and encounters that stay in my mind are those about which I was a little unsure; perhaps slightly dangerous? difficult to reach? Off the beaten track? Today , they are the ones that provide the best memories for me thirty years on. Thailand is, of course, none of these things but it offers more than just Silom and Boyztown. Explore!1 point -

For those interested in this event, don’t forget the recent Halloween crush in Korea (156 killed) the August Mountain B nightclub fire near Pattaya (25 killed, so far) and the Santika Club New Years eve disaster in BKK that killed 66....0 points

Just very recently, read yesterday I offered help to a known guy in severe financial need by promised to hire for 4 days at above market rate. My reward - his entire time with me was spent on his phone playing loud music out of it , even in bed and even at 4 a.m. So deal was cut short , surprise, by him citing my unreasonable demands like stop checking Facebook every 27 seconds. In country I was raided there,s saying "if you help yourself, God helps you too " , how true !0 points

I'm not American but seems like. Trump has lost the mid term elections. Just lost a online bet in Pennsylvania ,thought Dr Oz was going to win 😳 oh well. So seems Americans prefer the socialist alternative,-1 points
