Maybe I should have put this under Readers post about Super A bar, but it’s not all about A. So arrived about 8 pm on Emirates. This trip was so much easier than back in January! All needed was my passport. Even after the quick immigration entry, about twenty minutes, my suitcase practically landed in my hands at the luggage pickup. I did a hybrid trip from airport to Patpong 2. Using the airport rail to the last stop and then took a taxi looking for Tarntawan hotel. We didn’t find it but had taxi drop me off near all the bars. Asking the massage guys where it was and ended up in front of Taiwan. Where they directed me to opposite direction and I ended up in front of a group of about ten guys and asked them. Happened to be right at Super A bar.So they invited me in for a drink. About eight somewhat average looking guys. They lined up on the small stage and spilled over the rest of the bar to the door. The bar itself is small but not as small as I had imagined, maybe I’m thinking of the Golden cock from previous reports. I’ve been coming to Thailand for twenty years but spend most of my time in Pattaya and have only spent about ten days total in Bangkok. So I enjoyed a Leo beer while just relaxing knowing this vacation is just starting and I’ll have a lot to look forward to. So I motioned a couple boys to sit with me. One from Bangkok, Nai, sat with me and another older one, Toy sat on other side. An older Thai manager was there and the mamasan who wasn’t too pushy. But a rather aggressive message boy who I passed and spoke to on the way there showed up and started inserting himself into the conversation. I bought four drinks, including mine for 200 baht each. Tipped two boys 500 baht and Nai 1,000 for chuck wow. Nai was very sexy , about 20, very hairless and small. Not well endowed like the other guys but I put focus on him. I was amazed at how tiny his hands were. I think I’ll go back and use the room with him and get his line to avoid the bar and it’s fees. Probably should have done that but I enjoy hanging out in sleazy bars like this. Wish there were more. The bar charged 500 for what Nai did since we could have used upstairs room but we used the bar instead. Kind of reminded me of old Eros bar in Sunnee. Ended up spending about 3500 baht for about an hour and half of fun. I really enjoyed it there and will be back again. Toy escorted me to Tantawan after. I decided beforehand that the $700 I didn’t spend on an upgrade to business plus on Emirates, only from Dubai to Bangkok, that I’d blow it on the bars when I got there. It’s more fun not worrying about overpaying in this situation. And the boys really love taking my cash, lol. We all had a laugh when they used the flashlight on my wallet and I almost mistakenly mixed up a 1,000 baht for 100. The upgrade on Emirates wouldn’t have avoided the hour delay on runway, and my scariest landing ever. It was foggy and we had two sudden drops that brought gasps from my fellow passengers, then a real hard landing. I watch too many Smithsonian channel episodes of Air Disaster I suppose, but I had felt reassured when the pilots announced that one was an Aussie and the other from Switzerland. So Super A is alive and well. Think today I’ll try a massage, there’s so many it seems. And I’ll check out the go gos for some slim twink types. Sorry in advance if I’m late responding as I’ll update things that might be of interest to anyone.13 points

Attended 10:15 performance tonight and enjoyed the show. Perhaps the best segment is the opening act, a high-energy and very well choreographed group of guys who know how to dance. It was a pleasure to watch them. I hadn’t seen the show since February of 2020 and many of the boys I remembered have moved one, although one grabbed me on way out to show me a photo he took with me on an old off. There’s very good lip-sync ladyboy who is a veteran of Twilight days. She appears several times in different costumes and numbers and is a real entertainer. Rest of show features standard fare like the big cock, ring the pole which proved a big hit with the 10 or so female customers (when the performers circulated among the crowd for tips, many took the opportunity to exams the goods). Freshboys remains twink central but I thought there were more bigger guys in the cast this time. I believe ASEAN is well represented which, for me, improves the final product. The waiters are as easy on the eyes as ever and, of course, offable. The place was about half full when the show got under but many trickled in during the performance which ended at 11:30. Drinks 400 (boy drink same).8 points

(part 14) Back to the tidbit format 1. On my way to the Silom Square Market, when I walked past the small alley where Super A used to be, I noticed out of the corner of my eye some colorful but whore-ish lights. Made a turn to investigate and indeed Super A is back to business. @a-447 would be on cloud nine when he heard it. It was still quite early and there were only three boys inside, none got my attention. Told Mamasan I would be back. I did the next day at a much later time (around 11.30 pm). Opened the door by myself, saw no one around, no Mamasans, no bouncers, no boys, except for one, who was snoring on the couch. Kinda hoped I would see the line-up @readertalked about in his related thread. 2. When I was last in Bangkok late August, I noticed Banana Room in Silom Soi 4 started some sort of recruitment campaigns to attract more boys to their posse. Their boy number literally more than doubled overnight, and I could pick out familiar faces from Hotmale, Dream Boy and, in particular, Fresh Boys. However, larger quantity doesn't necessarily mean better quality. None of their boys (old or new) stood out to me, a customer who's deeply entrenched in the twink tribe. Nearly two months later, Banana Room still manages to keep a cast of quite decent size, enough to fill their small stage in three rows. After making my ususal rounds of bar hopping, I see that some new recruits already returned to their old bar of Dream Boy, which still boasts the most impressive collection in the soi in terms of boy number, variety and well, cock size. Fresh Boy, on the other hand, never quite recovered. They appear not to be able to stop the talent bleeding, and now have barely a dozen boy each night (versa around 25 to 30 in early August). Since they lost quite a few big-cock stars to both Banana Room and Dream Boy, their Big Cock show should be renamed to "I wish I were Bigger". This should be a sign of alarm as we all know the vicious cycle: as boys flock to the bar with more business and customers flock to the bar with more boys, fewer boys means less business, which means even fewer boys. Fresh Boy's problems may also mean Screw Boy would not re-open any time soon. 4. Speaking of which, New Twilight is in serious troubles. When I checked in around 11.30 pm one night, I saw no customers and also no boys sitting around. Their big pageant-style stage looks so hollow and empty, it's just sad. Mamasan told me their show already finished (but I doubt if there were any shows that night or even any customers for that matter) and if I'm interested, take a seat, he'll "whipped up" some boys for me to look at. I shook my head and walked back to the above-mentioned Super A, which fared a little better with one boy sound asleep on the couch. 5. While the twink quantity and quality has declined in all the Bangkok go-go bars I visited this week, the good news is a reverse trend can be seen in near-by massage parlors. I saw more than ever younger and twinkier masseurs in all the shops in that massage cluster at the entrance of Silom Soi 6. Best Massage in Silom Plaza (the one downstairs from Arena) has an all-male, mostly twinky staff in their late teens or early 20s, from which I could pick at least three to my taste. That's a new record for me, considering they currently only have about 7 to 8 masseurs. 6. My last night in Bangkok, I asked Boy 26 (reported in parts 8 and 10, his tag number in Dream Boy was later changed though) to join me for my last round through Silom Soi 4 - Patpong 2 - Moonlight - Hotel bedroom. In Moonlight, I spotted a former porn star standing on stage when I walked in. For a minute contemplated hiring him to re-create my favorite scene from Doctor Twink but decided against it. I'm no pornstar-cum-doctor material. By the way, the boy now looked more haggard and weather-beaten despite heavy make-up, his silky smooth complexion gone, and he also got a new nose. The only thing remaining more or less the same is his soulful eyes, which I love. To me, his original straight-bridge nose was really cute and suited his twinky look perfectly. Why he needed something with an even taller bridge and too "bulky" for his face? Speaking of which, Boy No 26's boyfriend also got a new nose last month, which cost him 8000B but IMHO doesn't do him any favors either. I asked Boy No 26 if he's going to get a new nose too and he said he considered it but too scared of getting hurt. Boy No 26 then gave me his own advice: your nose already looks nice, don't waste money on changing it. I think I'm gonna up his tip this time 😇. There were 6 models that night in Moonlight (Babe and Nicky were nowhere to be seen). At the end of their lining up on stage, something unusual happened. There was a big spender in the house, who presented EACH model a shot of whisky and a 1000B garland. It was the only tip of any kind the models received that night (as far as I can see). First Smarch, then Nut, Tum, York, and then Mark (their respective order in line if memory serves) all got it - drinking their shot and flaunting a garland around their neck. Finally, it's Korn's turn an there were no more whisky and garland. It was awkward. I can see Korn turned pale right there under his makeup. Face is a big thing in Thailand, and that looked like real slap in the face. Boy No 26 leaned toward me and whispered "Why the last one don't have?" Well, your guess is as good as Korn's. My theory is that a former customer held a grudge against Korn and did so just to spite him. A costly 5000B slap. Of course, it could simply be that the customer ran out of 1000B notes so the one at the end of the line becomes the unlucky duck. 7. Before I headed out to clubs with Boy No 26 for my last night in town, I opened my for-whoring-activity-only email to book a taxi to Pattaya and saw that I got a message from @vinapu who just touched down in Bangkok two days ago. It was too late, it's my last night and I'm about to meet with my boy du jour. No time planning for a meeting so I set off a bit early, stopping by both Soi 4 and Patpong 2 on a slim chance I might catch a glimpse of my orgy-ology professor and say hi. I also checked with Tiny Lao (reported in part 7), who confirmed in not so many words that Mr. KFC is indeed back and the whole soi is still celebrating, boys rushing to open new bank accounts, it's a total chaos. FYI: Mr. KFC only stopped by Bangkok for one night on his way to Cambodia and he wanted to talk to his student about some whoring experience there (reported in details in parts 3 to 6). 8. Now to Pattaya's news. There is a new boy in Boyz Boyz Boyz, who make waves in Boyztown because he refused to have sex with customers no matter how much money they offered him. The boy is from Chiang Mai and he is really really really good-looking. Yes really. The gay chubby bouncer at the Pikky bar opposite, who shared this piece of intel with me, can't stop gushing about how good looking the boy is. Too bad the boy wasn't working that night so I can't confirm it myself. Rumor has it, customers were turned down left and right. The highest bidder so far went for 15000B, but the answer was still NO. The boy made it clear he was there to earn money only on tips and drinks, not sex (wonder if adding one more 0 would make any differences). I may come back to Boyz Boyz Boyz to check him out and report back if I have a chance. 9. On a sad note, S and his unfriendly boyfriend (reported in details in part 13), who had been together for almost 5 years, broke up just a few weeks after they started working in the same massage shop in Jomtien Complex. S did not respond to my messages, but his boyfriend said they broke up because they couldn't handle being in an exclusive relationship while going with customers at the same time. S is actually the one who has problems. They fought almost every time the boyfriend was back from servicing customers. "I don't want to do this but we really need the money" the boyfriend said. That time, I went to watch a show in M2M bar in the complex. Since there was a Thai boy working in that bar, who was offended by my unwarranted joke (reported in I asked the boyfriend to tag along just to feel safer (S himself had two customers in a row that night and was too tired to go). Somehow, it was interpreted as a date and they had a particularly big fight after that. S even messaged me 2 a.m. in the morning, wanting to talk about it. "You are not the problem. The problem has been there for some time. And there are other things too." Boyfriend told me in case I feel guilty. They finally broke up a few days later. S said he no longer wanted to do massage work and planned to move back home (I don't know if he did). Boyfriend stays to continue working in his massage shop for now. (to be continued)8 points

Day 1: Despite my late night, I wake up early enough to be annoying. I guess the 4 hour difference is worse than I’d thought. I get up early anyway, and head off to a surprisingly great breakfast buffet. Even though the food is probably cheaper outside the hotel, I refuse to go adventuring before coffee, and getting the breakfast-included room rate is the easiest way to get the bill shifted to work. The spread here is great, and comes with a tree-top view of Lumphini park, so no regrets. I have work to do today, but given that the front of my trip has been cut short, I decide to show up late. I head out for a walk towards Silom, to try to get a feel for the place. Luckily, it’s not too hot by about 10am. On the street, all Thai people walking by me are still wearing masks - I keep my same approach used back home, and take it off for the outdoor stretches, putting it back on whenever I walk inside. The only maskless faces I see though are a couple of Caucasian ones. I grab a local SIM card, and then decide it’s actually too hot to wander around too much without a plan, and I don’t want to show up sweaty to my next destination. I get a Grab to Tailor On Ten - also recommended on this forum. I’m looking for a new suit, some shirts and a jacket. The staff are a little frantic that I’ve shown up without an appointment, given that someone else with a booking was due shortly after I arrived, but rather than reschedule, they decide to find a second staff member out the back to re-measure the other obvious repeat-shopper. The quality of the fabrics seem good, and I’m looking forward to seeing what is made in a week or so. They tell me I will need another 3 fittings, with the initial one 4 days later. The staff are chatty and I somehow manage to have a bit of a conversation about where some of their Aussie wool comes from, despite knowing absolutely nothing about such things. They grill me on whether or not Australia is so full of snakes and spiders that even visiting a Sydney hotel might not be safe… good to know our national anti-tourism campaigns are working. After the tailor, I get a Grab to Pak Kret for the afternoon of work, which finishes about 4. I had initially planned to hop back to the hotel via VCK (I promised myself I’ll visit this place before I go home), but I decide that by that time the traffic will be a mess, so I go back to the hotel directly. I decide to pay a visit to Sabaidee instead. On the map, this looks like it’s only a block or so away, but in reality it’s about a 20 minute walk, if you know where you’re going. I spend ages trying to find it, before I realise it’s essentially under a building in a carpark - not exactly where I was planning to find anything at all, but I guess it kinda fits a seedy gay massage shop. Inside, the manager shows me about 6 boys who are available. I’m told that it’s 700 baht for the house for an hour massage, plus an 1100 minimum in-room tip. I put two on my short list, and he calls one out for me to check out in person - “Mr Cow”, who is apparently “Man” and “top and bottom”. Mr Cow is definitely my type - somewhere between boy next door and hunk, with big swimmer-type shoulders, so he gets the nod and we go up one level into a dark massage room, with an in-room shower. Once we are both showered, one at a time, he stays naked, which at that point seems a good sign. The massage is so-so, light on pressure, although that’s ok as I’m looking to relax today, rather than have any knots ironed out. At one point, I notice that off to one side of the room, he’s got his phone playing porn, with a Japanese girl getting rammed by two guys playing on silent. After the massage itself finishes, he asks “Fuck? No fuck?”, and we move to stage 2. Unfortunately, it seems his obvious straight preference is an impairment, and he is pretty dependent on his phone to keep going. He tries his hardest, though, and manages to get the job done. Stage 2 is ok, but only really because I find him so good looking, rather than anything else. Afterwards, I ask if he likes just girls, or both girls and boys, and get an emphatic “Girls!” followed by an apologetic “boys are ok too”. I give him a couple of hundred extra for his effort. After I walk home, my plans to go out for the Friday night swiftly fall away as I pass out and sleep right through until 7am the next day.6 points

Hi guys, Although this will be my first post, I’ve lurked here for a few months and gotten a tonne of (hopefully) excellent tips from you all for my first trip to the LOS. Hoping that my little trip report is both a good exercise to remember my trip by, but also might give back and help others live vicariously, as I did. Some context for the trip – I’m from Australia, and lucky enough to be able to travel occasionally for for work, now that our country has opened up again. As far as SEA, I’ve been to Vietnam 10 years ago, but never to Thailand. I booked my whole stay at one hotel - the SO/ Bangkok. Firstly, it looks super nice online, and the number of nights adds up to the exact amount left in my work travel fund – convenient. Next, it’s near Silom, and whilst not super convenient to the two places I needed to be for work during my stay, it was roughly between the two of them, and close to the MRT, if I get brave. I had planned to go for a full 2-week stint, but just before I was due to depart, I’m forced to reschedule my departure date for a funeral. After that, the need to ‘get out’ and reset elsewhere is strong. I am damn glad I’ve got a holiday booked... Although I do have travel insurance (to be worked out later after I come back), in the meantime, I worry about how the delayed departure is going to abuse my credit card – if anyone has similar worries in the future, FYI Singapore airlines let me change but charge me a fair bit to do so (the only remaining seat is then an ‘upgrade’ from business to business-flex, so I pay more for the same thing). Turns out there’s little leniency for the sake of funerals. On the other hand, my SO/ Bangkok stay was booked as non-refundable, and I expected this to be a completely dead loss, but after I call/email them, they kindly convert the 5 wasted nights into hotel credit (for food, drinks etc.), which I am really grateful for. At least it’s something! I figure I can safely drown my worries from the rooftop bar on that credit. Day 0: getting there. After a rough couple of weeks at home, an all-day couple of flights, I land just before 7pm local time. Singapore airlines business class is as good as I’ve been told… the food and wine are all delicious. I follow the very good advice from the forum and grab my bags, then head down to the lower level airport rail and get my local currency from the cheaper downstairs booth. Go back upstairs and get a cab to my hotel. The driver and I struggle to communicate, but it works out ok. By the time I make it to the hotel and up to my room, it’s nearly 9. The SO/ Bangkok common areas are beautiful and cool and comfy, and the rooms thankfully continue this (nothing worse than a hotel which blows all their money on a lobby then has dingy, crap rooms!). The rooms are themed with ‘mystical elements’ (e.g. metal, water, wood) and I get assigned a wood room. I’ve paid for the lowest level of ‘just a room’, but it’s easily as big as a suite in the average Aussie hotel – absolutely huge. My city-view room also includes a view of the river. The room itself is very nice – huge bathroom with both a bathtub and a rain shower; beautiful wooden floors and panelling throughout, and plenty of space – definitely enough space to spend over a week and not feel claustrophobic. Complimentary (non-alcoholic) mini-bar, and a good chocolate and fruit platter shows up ~20 minutes after I get in. The room and view: I finally get a much-needed shower and then on to the apps. At home it’s at least 1-2am (4 hour time difference), and I’ve been up since 5am, so I’m wondering if I have the stamina to do anything or have anyone over. I am considering just going to bed when I get a message. Do I want a massage and fun for 󠇍1500 baht? Why even think about it? Yes, I do. We’ll call him “7-Eleven”, because that’s the symbol he has tattooed on the back of his neck (I don’t bother to ask why…). He shows up within 20 minutes, and is cuter than advertised. Heavily tattooed (I don’t have strong opinions on this like some others here do), short and tightly muscled. Washboard abs and a perky little ass – delicious. No trouble getting him into the hotel despite having to change elevators via the 9th floor lobby – nobody said a thing, we just wandered up. The massage was very good, with good coverage and pressure; relaxing and just therapeutic enough that I don’t fall asleep during. Afters are great, with a seamless transition, and he was vers as advertised. Afterwards, we have a little chat, and he uses our time to get a little impromptu English pronunciation lesion - gotta love a guy who is still trying to improve himself into the small hours of the morning! He tells me he normally massages at Banyan Tree, so anyone staying there is in for a treat. After a 22 or so hour day, thankfully the beds are also great. 😴5 points

Great video. The narrator really does his home work. The cinema he mentions where gay cruising goes on is only a few minutes walk from the BTS stop (side of road opposite Big C). When you leave station, walk back in direction of downtown and you’ll come to a Soi that has a few male massage shops. Continue further and you come to huge cinema on left. If you continue to the end you arrive at 39 Underground Sauna, a long established local gathering spot where farang are few but nevertheless welcome. As for the cinema, it had to be about 2003 that I first discovered it. In the days before smart phones and social media, this place was showing mostly western porn to large audiences of guys of all ages, most of whom were there for a blow job or two. On weekends it attracted huge number of university students, military types and working guys, and of course those who held them in high regard. In fewer places was democracy more on display. Last time I checked it out was precovid and it was shadow of itself, showing reruns of former western and Asian adventure films. MBs we’re always available as we’re some LBs. the price of admission remains 60 bht. It is rumored to be owned by an influential individual who still finds a way to make a go of it. Overall, I highly agree with narrator that Saphan Kwai is a fascinating place worth exploring.4 points

I went to Ko Phangan once and regretted it. I went there specifically for a Full Moon Party, but every other Westerner there spent the entire night coming up to me asking if I had ecstasy. That's all people did ... spend the entire night looking for an illegal endorphin rush and being disappointed when no one had the necessary chemicals. Not only was no one having fun, the music was awful. The other problem with the island is the beaches aren't that great and full of trash. I wasted a day and a half getting there, a couple days there and a day getting back to Bangkok where I could have fun on Silom Soi 2 and Soi 4. If you are looking for a gay scene, stick to Bangkok and/or Pattaya. If you're looking for a beach holiday, there are better islands. But anticipate what you will want to do -- drink in the gay nightlife or enjoy the sun and beach life -- before arriving so as not to waste precious vacation days.4 points -

I was recently in Dream Boys on Saturday night, when it was busy, and we were seated up in the third or fourth row on the left of the stage as you face it. My BF, on his way to the toilet, spotted that in the semi open space to one side behind the last row of seats all the big cock boys boys(12/14) were wanking to get big and hard for their imminent show. I immediately felt the call of the nature and was very taken by the backstage show, some boys standing, some sitting, but all reaching the right level of tumescence and all condomed up so customers could later touch them after the show. I got a preview as the the nearest cock to where I was standing, of considerable thickness and attached to a slim young man of reasonable looks was thrust into my hand. The feel of the girth in my hand and the enthusiasm with which he pursued my custom made the result inevitable. Back in the hotel he suggested we showered together and he soaped me all over paying particular attention to my cock. Slightly weirdly he was happy to suck said cock without a condom, but wanted a condom on his own if I was to suck that! Perhaps the performers are so used to a latex barrier between themselves and customers that is their best way to get it up. Anyway he performed as requested, while clearly being straight, and and professionally if without passion. I came, he didn't, claiming that he was too drunk, but more likely he was preserving his strength for another show or customer(there was still time). It didn't bother me. He received the requested(by him) 2,000 Baht for short time and was on his way. Off had been 550 baht rather than the anticipated 500 for some incomprehensible reason that wasn't worth arguing about, and customer drinks were 500 and boy drinks 400(he had a beer).3 points -
Kissing and Oral Safety

Yes Max, every time I return home after several weeks in Pattaya indulging in risky gay sex, I worry that this time the odds on developing a sexual related disease will have caught up on me. I’ve indulged in unprotected anal sex on occasions there in the past 20 years and oral every time. The more I think about it, the more I cannot understand why I haven’t contracted an STD, but each time I go for a test it thankfully is negative. Perhaps I should quit whilst I am ahead.3 points -
Fascinating post! I agree with @macaroni21 that it is less to do with Asian religions as it is to the influence -the negative influence - of western religions. The fact is that most countries in Asia had a remarkable tolerance towards sex and sexuality compared to the west. I have referred before to the book by Dominique Fernandez A Hidden Love: Art and Homosexuality. In the section dealing with Asia he makes it clear - as do other writers - that homosexuality was far from uncommon amongst the Chinese Emperors. He maintains that China had "a glorious erotic culture, largely but by no means exclusively heterosexual." Some readers will have heard of the Long Yang clubs where gay men can meet and mingle. I remember attending one meeting in Bangkok in the mid-1990s which was held in an apartment on Soi Sribumphen not far from the Malaysia Hotel. Long Yang was a courtier in the 4th century BC allegedly with special skills that endeared him to the Emperor. Another Emperor Wu Ti around 100 BC surrounded himself with boys as well as women as his concubines and is even known to have engaged in occasional menages a trois with two of his favourite boys. Best known perhaps is the tale of the Han Dynasty Emperor Ai Ti a century later who had numerous male lovers. Sharing his counch with his favourite Dong Xian, the young man fell asleep across the Emperor's sleeve. Rather than awaken him, the Emperor merely took his sword and cut off the sleeve. Even today, "cut sleeve" (黄九郎) is a commonly used euphemism for homosexual love. As late as the 18th century, the book Passions of the Cut Sleeve recounts 50 of the most famous cases of male love throughout Chinese history. From China, a bonze took this love and caring for younger boys to his native Japan around 800CE where it soon became the custom. During the three great dynasties in Korean history, homosexuality was never far from the ruling Courts. King Hyegong kept a group of elite warriors known for their homoeroticism and femininity called the "Flower Boys". When King Gongmin's wife died, he created a new Ministry whose sole duty was to roam the Kingdom and seek out beautiful young men to serve at Court. His sexual partners were called "little brother attendants." Even in South East Asia where Islam had taken hold after many centuries of Hinduism, sex was still regarded as a healthier outlet than it seems to be today, unless it is now almost exlcusively for procreation. Yet I found it interesting in Iran 4 years ago that my guide, a tall, good looking 40ish man, had a regular hooker in every town we visited. If there was one Asian influence that helped reduce the degree of homosexuality it was Confucianism with its strong emphasis on family. The main driving force historically, though, was surely the European colonial powers. Not the traders. It was the missionaries who followed closely in their wake who then caused havoc with societal norms up till then. In China the Taiping Rebellion effectvely became a civil war between about 1850 to 64. Fed with the all the bs in the religious pamphlets being spread by the missionaires, Hong Xiuquan believed he was the brother of Jesus Christ and amassed a large number of followers. The civil war which erupted killed 20 million, a huge massacre and one of the bloodiest in history, before it was finally put down. In Japan, it was the American missionaries who followed Commander Perry who forced the shoguns out and Japan to open up. But only to open up to western religious ideals at the expense of many centuries-old Japanese customs. It is thanks to the American influence after WWII that Japanese pornography to this day uses pixillation. Finally in Thailand. In the 1880s, one American visiter was so shocked by the nudity of the population that he remarked, "Not until Thailand is clothed need she expect a place among the respectable, civilized nations." Even though Thailand is one of the few nations never to have been colonised, the forces of democracy in the 1930s saw to it that attitudes gradually changed to fall much more in line with western thinking. The west has a great deal to answer for!3 points

Kokopelli says it the best: it is in touristy places a non-issue. And you will be far too scared and unknowing to venture out of those. Actually it works for the normal tourist rather the other way: that s one main reason why Thaild gets so many rave reviews about good service, smiling attention etc. Actually exact translating from the Thai it is ´broken face´ not lost. The main exception is when you have to deal with authority: on arrival, after that hardly anymore, but it may happen. Then THEY are above you. It may force you to be polite and showing off as a good tourist. But that last for 10 secs. In fact this whole thing is mostly about ´class distinction´ a very rife thing here: no one is equal, in theory there is always someone higher/lower.3 points -

I spent a few days in Athens in late September. I decided to try out few of the places mentioned on this thread, to see if they were still going or had been wiped out by the Covid years. I am not an ideal candidate the task, as i am generally too nervous to actually hire bar hustlers or street rentboys, but I though of the readers of this website, and steeled myself to go out and about.. Adventures in Bars: Both the bars that have been reported here as having escorts - Sami's Bar and Bizzar - are close to Viktoria Metro stop, so I took train there on a Saturday evening. One of the bars is actually only open on Friday and Saturday, so you better be in Athens at the weekend if you want to try them out. I walked around the square above the metro stop first. There were a few guys sitting on the park benches and looking at men that passed – it was obviously what they were after. I didnt linger though, and went to Sami’s Bar first (often spelled “Sammi’s” on social media) When I arrived at around 9.00 pm it was nearly empty. The friendly staff told me it would get busier later, and by ten there was about four customers in the place. No real interaction between them, apart from chatting to the friendly staff. I was frustrated that the sexy Persian guys Xclay met on his visits hadn't turned up, although perhaps it was too early. I decided to abandon it and went to Bizzar bar. This was busier, about 12 customers. There were a few younger guys circulating but they were shy about approaching you in the bar. What I figured out was that when a guy went downstairs to the toilets, they followed you down and made their pitch there. I talked to a Romanian guy during one trip downstairs, and an Egyptian on the next. The Romanian guy was pleasant and offered some fun in the toilets for €40. I did not take him up. The Egyptian guy was more pressing, and when I rejected his suggestion of going into the cubicle for some fun (my understanding was that this would involve me sucking him off, and nothing more), his suggestion of €40 rapidly dropped to €30 and eventually ended up with just begging for some money to eat. I gave him 10 euro and went back up the stairs, just in time to see the Romanian guy leaving with a customer. I then regretted not taking my chances with him, of course. Guys on Omonia Square: The next night, Sunday, decided to walk around the northern side of Omonia Square, to see if they guys were still there. Long time readers of this site might remember that I tried this scene before Covid, but was too chickenshit to do anything in the end. Well, history repeated itself. At about 10 pm on the Sunday, I walked north from Omonia Square towards the pedestrian street the Cosmopolit hotel is on. Plenty of female hookers giving me the eye, but no guys I noticed (there was lot of Middle Eastern-looking guys hanging in groups of two or three, but I did not get the impression they were on the game). Then suddenly a young guy came up to me and started chatting. He started telling me about how you could rent a room for €10 from the Cosmopolit etc. He did not say why, and I was unsure at first if he was trying to pimp a women to me or what. However, it when he said he just wanted €40, it became clearer. He looked Syrian or Iraqi, and was a bit jumpy in manner, so I was too nervous to go anywhere with him. I asked him where he was from and he claimed to be called Alex from Thessalonica. I said thanks, but no thanks, and walked away. But as I had evinced some curiosity, he was not to be shaken off too easily, and followed me round Omonia Square for five minutes trying to get me to change my mind, and did not give up until I was nearly at the Athinaikon restaurant on Themistocles St. Not an interaction that would tempt me back to Omonia Square Guys on web After that, I decided to play it a bit safer, and looked at some guys on the web. Chatted to a few guys on various sites – the main site for Athens is Hunqz, as far as I can see. I agreed to meet two guys, one on Monday and one on Tuesday. The price for each was €100, I went to the apartment of one guy and asked another to come to my hotel – I offered him an extra €20 for this. Both the guys I chose had a number of positive reviews, which is largely why I chose them. They were very polite and pleasant.3 points -
Visited this shop for first time today about 16:30. One boy in shop but manager showed me photos on phone of about 15 who were available on call. I chose one and was taken to room. By time I finished shower he arrived and showered. As it turned out, he was my first gay masseur of trip and performed well. The one hour oil was 420 baht and was informed full service minimum tip was 1,000 (well earned). When I left there were three in the shop, any one of whom I’d take. Rooms here on first floor with mattress on floor atop foot-high platform. Shower down the hall. I took Blue Line and walked Sutthisan Winichai Rd. from Sutthisan station. It took about 22 minutes but I prefer approaching in opposite direction from Saphan Kwai because shops along way more interesting and sidewalks better. By 16:00, that side of road mostly in shade. Two bus routes serve this road. I began walking toward Saphan Kwai and I travelled no more than 3-4 minutes when I came upon KK Spa, a shop I’ve visited in three earlier occasions this trip. If you aren’t a slut like me you would have concluded that you’ve had sufficient fun and just headed home. I of course opened the door and was presented with a bottle of water and a new photo array. Several guys made the short list but the beaming smile on one sealed it and I agreed to one hour oil for 350 baht. I took shower and when I returned my guy had arrived and was stripping down. He was bigger than he looked in photo and had great tats. Turned out to be 22 year old Cambodian. I had chosen well because after he showered he demonstrated that straight guys know what the he’ll it’s all about. I traded places with after less than 15 minutes and he was a bit surprised. He soon discovered that this was a great idea and completely relaxed. He showered with me and we took turns soaping up each other. The minimum tip was 800 and I gladly tuned that up. From what I gather, these shops are keenly aware that their main source of income is locals and have adjusted their fees down in the past week or so. The guys are all free lancers and derive their income solely from tips. In the Silom area, most guys are on staff and get a cut of the fee because they have specified work hours to be available in shop. I believe the reason so many hot guys are available in these more remote locations is geography. These are the areas Thais and other Asians can afford to live. Some work other jobs during the day and are on call later.3 points

Please confirm or deny these 2 questions : 1 : Thai/Asian Boys dont like French Kissing (kissing with tongue). I read this on a few forums, now for me French Kissing is important, its a deal breaker if they refuse. So how do i make clear i want French Kissing ? Do they have a Thai word for it ? How common is it they refuse kissing ? 2 : Besides kissing, Oral sex is my favorite to Give. But going to a very active place like Pattaya, people tell me to use protection. Now for sex i agree, but oral sex with a condom to me is like eating ice cream with the wrapping on...It makes no sense to me and i simply hate it (unless they create Dick flavour). I never got any STD from unsafe oral sex. What is your experience ? Any bad experience from unsafe oral sex in Thailand ? (Not that it would change my mind, just curious) Thanks2 points

Just out of idle curiosity, what would you offer Justin Bieber then? Speaking of comedy, did you see that ridiculous big cock show in the New Dream Boy, where all the guys drag (wigs, skirts and all), stumbling around on high heels with their cock picking out under the skirt?2 points

Koh Pha Ngan

Some time ago I did a day trip to Koh Phangan. Even in the daytime the beaches were nothing special and certainly not gay. I'll put in another plug for the beaches at Khao Lak about 80 kms north of Phuket airport. Don't expect much gay life, if any, but it's a great quiet location to bring a young gay friend. Totally wiped out in the 2004 tsunami, Khao Lak is now a string of hotels set mercifully apart from each other along the most stunning beach. We spent a great 5 days there.2 points -
I sometimes use the word boys in posts and must start changing that habit for I do refer to young men. As for posting nude photos, I for one cannot find any reason why this should interest or excite anyone. But then I totally avoid social media. As I recently wrote, to me it should be renamed "unsocial media." Be careful. 16 years is certainy not the universal age of consent. And don't trust what anyone says or anyone posts. Can you ever be certain it is not a troll or someone out to do harm? I still get the occasional spam email allegedly from friends. How do you know that friend on facebook or whatever is really your friend and not someone posting as your friend?2 points

Kissing and Oral Safety

Over the last 20 years of visiting Pattaya I have always enjoyed kissing gay Asian boys, both in bed and also in gay bars and on Dongtan beach. Mostly they will allow it including tongue kissing, although on occasions when I find reluctance, I do not persist as doing so would spoil the occasion. I can’t remember ever asking permission.2 points -

I agree, there is a religious element to this, but casting the issue as one of masculinity, in my view, does not lead to a helpful explanation. I'm sure many of us have noticed that Asian societies can be as patriarchal and male-centric as any, and there are huge sections of the male population who can be boorish and aggressive and boastful of sexual conquests. Where the religious element comes in is from the fact that Christianity is the cultural foundation for European societies. One distinguishing feature about Christianity (and Islam, as you have alluded to) is its great discomfort with sex. In addition, Islam has a great discomfort with display of skin - but that's a separate conversation. Although during the last 100 years or so, European societies have become sexually liberated, it's a recent phenomenon when considered in relation to the centuries of history that has formed attitudes that remain under the surface (among certain sections of society today) despite any new liberalism. The fundamental tenet in Christianity is that sex and the erotic are plain bad. Sex is seen as addictive and distractive and lead the mind astray from worshipping God. Unfortunately, sex is needed for procreation so, for a long time the Church's teaching has been that procreation was the only acceptable justification for engaging in it. For a long time too, the teaching was that even as husband and wife had sex, they were not supposed to take their clothes off and they were not supposed to enjoy it. Any other kind of sex was/is equated with sin, even masturbation. This is the root of that long history of sodomy laws, and wave after wave of moral panic over prostitution and pornography (and miscegenation - but that too is another matter). In Asian societies, their religious underpinning may be Hindu, Buddhist or Confucian (which are vastly different from each other in their teachings), but the interesting thing is that none of them have strong words about sex. This doesn't mean they are necessarily tolerant. But it does mean that if there is disapproval of, say, extra-marital (heterosexual) relations, homosexuality, or prostitution, it tends to spring from anxieties over family security (including inheritance rights) or social order, and therefore the disapproval tends to be (sometimes, depending on the era) "softer", and more situational. The disapproval does not take the fire-and-brimstone variety that so characterised Western precepts for centuries. One example of what I mean by "situational" would be an Asian community appearing semi-tolerant of foreigners engaging in homosexuality, but take a firmer line should one of their own sons do likewise. Foreigners can be labelled "they don't know any better", whilst the scion of the family has a duty to uphold the respectability of the family name, get married properly and bear heirs. A simple way to put it is this: Western history saw the issue as sex and unChristian enjoyment, and disapproved of it in a blanket way for that non-negotiable reason. Asian history was not so much concerned about sex, but about the consequential effects of sex. Since consequential effects were greater or lesser depending on the situation, so disapproval could be calibrated or negotiated.2 points -
You are dealing with money boys they used to see their clients changing boys every day and sometimes more than one boy a day so it's not a big deal for them. Regarding the boys who are friends if they aware to the situation that you are dating both of them and agree to this arrangement it won't make any issue and nobody is loosing face.2 points

With respect, I'm not sure that is entirely correct. The Americans leased U-tapao for their B52 bombers during the Vietnam War. With so many randy young men, they naturally wanted an outlet for their sexual urges. It was I believe this group that resulted in the sex scene in nearby Pattaya. R&R quickly became known within the forces as I&I (intoxication and intercourse) in of course the girlie bars for which Thai enterpreneurs had noticed a big demand and the big profits that could accrue! That war ended in 1973. Some GIs no doubt visited Bangkok and helped develop the commercial girlie bar scene here in Patpong. But the numbers were I believe far fewer than in Pattaya. Bangkok has had a sex scene for gays and straights from time immemorial. Foreigners rarely get near it for the very simple reason we are not wanted there. With the adoption of democracy in 1932, we know that several gay groups did then develop, but they were condemned by society as a whole. With so many gay personalities visiting Thailand from around World War I - Somerset Maugham, Noel Coward and the at least bisexual Joseph Conrad etc. - there may have been a gay haunt or two, or did these men either stay with their partners of the day or just find young Thais happy to spend time with them? After WWII we know that there was a farang gay group which included Jim Thomson, the Thai Silk King, and which did meet quite regularly. Eventually there was a gay bar. I have seen its name as Sea Hag but can not be sure. But this was also a time when the Thai media was very anti-gay and outed quite a number of well-known gay personalities. This lasted well into the 1960s. Although the original Twilight (not in its later Soi Twilight location) and one of two other gay venues started in the late 1960s, it was not tilll the late 1970s that the gay explosion started. And as stated earlier, most of the clientele in those days were Thai.2 points

The do gooders trying to catch pedophiles
Ruthrieston reacted to macaroni21 for a topic
I find this hard to believe, though I am no expert on such legal matters. Almost all countries have laws against sexual contact with underaged persons. I don't know of any country that wouldn't apply those laws to any foreigner commiting such transgressions within its boundaries. That means visitors are obliged to observe the host country's laws. What you may be confusing it with is extra-territorial reach of US laws. Yes, some countries have given their anti pedophilia laws extra-territorial reach, which means your home country laws still apply to you even if you are abroad. Travellers from such countries are therefore subject to both countries' laws. Why then have some countries chosen to give extra-territorial reach? One value of doing so is to be able to apprehend pedophiles after they have returned home, especially after short trips abroad. Its easier to prosecute in the home country after receiving evidence from the destination country rather than go through the hoary process of extraditing the accused to the destination country. So, if the two countries have different ages of consent, the wise thing to do is to observe the higher of the two. If the destination country uses 21 as age of consent, no amount of citing US age of consent will help you when arrested in the destination country. Bear in mind too that some countries have one age of consent for non commercial sex and a higher age for commercial sex.1 point -

Well at least it goes away with medicine 👍. Since "permanent" STD's from Oral are limited, i usually take the risk if nothing visible is shown. Gotta do what you love in life afterall. I'm not even sure i will do a GOGO Bar. On 1 side its a ritual i feel i should do on my 1st trip, but i already met many Thai/Lao boys on Social Media and with higher prices etc (pushy Mama-san's). Not sure i will do it.1 point -

Not a stupid question at all. I used a Charles Schwab investor ATM card. Found out about this a few years ago and it's my go-to when I travel. I deposit money into that account (if the card gets stolen, there's a limited fund available) and use it exclusively for ATMs. I get the daily rate and they reimburse all foreign transaction fees. Some things to be careful about: Always use an ATM inside a shopping center (and don't go straight out to the street), or inside a bank (I think a shopping center is safer). I used the one in the supermarket and then did my grocery shopping. If you see a message on the ATM asking you to accept the conversion rate, always say no. The bank wants you to accept their rate, not the going rate. It's their way of making some extra money off the deal. I learned about this too late, and probably lost a few dollars. I'm on a few FB groups for expats living in Medellin and there have been several straight guys sharing horror stories of women going to their homes (one was for "language exchange" and then drugging and robbing them. I never felt unsafe there, but I probably took chances I shouldn't have. Be careful, but have fun. It's a beautiful country and the people are beautiful as well.1 point

Being bi I wasn't into kissing other guys until a rather hot twink in Phuket changed my mind, he was one of the best kissers I had ever had the pleasure of kissing. Since that introduction I have found kissing has always been part of the play and I simply ask at the start if kissing is ok and have always got a yes answer. As yet I haven't had a partner that didn't use tongue when kissing, maybe not deep tongue but enough to keep me happy and I always try to ensure my partner at the time has a good time. As for sucking, if the cock is clean and no visible signs that something isn't right then I suck and I have come to enjoy getting some tasty Thai cock in my mouth.1 point

Why are you only reading stories from people that don’t get what they want. Go back and read many of the stories here in the forums of all the fun times that most of us have. Most of the boys speak enough English to get your point across. If you start your trip with negative thoughts that’s what will happen. Most of us get on the plane with happy thoughts of all the fun we’ll have. You will have a negative experience, just don’t dwell on it., just move on. So true @Slvkguy In Latin America, I only stay in hotels with good security that demand visitors register their ID at reception before being allowed into the elevators. It bemuses me when posters new to Latin America ask for recommendations of hotels and AirBnB places that don’t check their visitors and their identity. However discreet the poster may be, some small embarrassment does not outweigh the considerable risk of being beaten and robbed by strangers1 point -

I arrived BKK today from Pattaya, staying at the Tarntawan and went near Super A to do laundry. While I was waiting outside the laundry place, the Mamasan (owner??) screamed when you saw me , I have that affect on people, she offered me a water and said she's only been open 2 weeks now. I finished late with my friend from NYC and didn't realize everything was closing at 1am....so I walked to Super A, they were closed also....but guess who was open....Golden Cock/Nature boys. Just a fraction of it's former self, but they stay open until whenever.....with locals and other working boys stopping by, I'm told. There was a guy I went with before COVID, had a couple of drinks and he came back to my hotel.....I like the sleeze bars more than Dreamboys ....and places like that. The guys are more appreciative and really work for their money 😉1 point -
