Part 13: First night in Pattaya Yesterday evening after dinner I made a walk in Jomtien complex. And soon I did see confirmed what others already wrote in this forum a few times: the guys trying to get you on their terraces are more on the small, slim twinky side. Not realy my regular taste. I like my boys to be more hunk like, with preferably some muscles on it. So walking in Jomtien was for me not like entering a candy shop. But the atmosphere was good, the boys very friendly. The show in The Venue was already in full swing. But I was on my way to M2M because their show was going to start in a few minutes. They have daily shows now (except for Mondays) at 10pm. It was a busy Sunday night. Around 85% of the seats were taken when I came in, and after me some more guests came in. I ordered a rum and coke. But it was undrinkable. Way too strong. The colour suggested some coke was in there, but tasted almost pure alcohol. Nothing that can't be solved. I just ordered another coke on the side. I have to confess I was actualy very entertained by the show at M2M. It probabaly also helps when you know what to expect. And I knew I was not going to see any gay erotica or big dicks. They had 5 ladyboys and 7 or 8 boy dancers doing different acts. The show lasted for a good 90 minutes. Part of the cast What was this strange language of the songs of a few of their acts? Was it Russian? Would it be more political correct to skip these? The combination of ladyboys with some background dancers worked good for me. The dancing boys were good eye candy. One of them, the cutest one in my eyes, even was the front man in one act. When he started playbacking "What do you want from me?" by Adam Lambert I could think of a few thinks he could do for me... Lol My favourite of the show... After the show finished the cast went outside on the street so the audience had the chance to snap some pictures or have a talk. My favourite dancer was unfortunately busy talking with another (female) fan... When I walked passing the different bars again I found that some terraces were having quite some customers, while others were almost empty. The boyish boys were still present trying to convince me to take a drink at their establishment. But I had made other arrangements already with a guy from Grindr coming to visit me in my hotel room to have a deep discussion about current affairs... 😜😊10 points

Part 12: Arriving in Pattaya To be clear: I off course mean that they fly from Chiang Mai to U-Tapao Airport (also known as Pattaya Airport, but still about 1hr drive to Jomtien). I arranged Mike Pattaya taxi service to pick me up from the airport (800 baht) and when I arrived his driver was waiting for me with a sign with my name on it. Unfortunately his car did not start. Another driver came to help. They used jumper cables to start the engine and within 10 minutes we were on our way. In Pattaya I always stayed close to Boyztown the precious times and actually never explored Jomtien. Yes, I did take the songtaew to go to the gay beach (Dongtan Beach), but did not go to the Jomtien complex bars before. I decided that needed to change. And because forum members here had good experiences at The Agate, I booked my room there. Like others wrote before; I got a great deal booking directly with the hotel. Only 1000 baht per night without breakfast. Much cheaper than booking it via booking.com or Agoda. Why I skipped the Jomtien complex till now? Probably because Boyztown could give me everything I needed. My taste of boys is more on the masculine / muscular side. And I always read that Jomtien caters more for the lovers of slim/skinny boys. But as I’m open to try new things, and if needed Boyztown is only a short ride away, I’m staying in Jomtien this time. First impression of Agate is very good. Friendly staff at check in and goodlooking room with comfortable bed. Since I'm in Thailand I've also had beds that were a bit on the hard side, but the bed in Agate feels good. While showering I was thinking why is there this little bench in the shower? I could only think about one thing: so that a boy can sit on there while giving you a blowjob in the shower.... Something to try out the next days.... Lol Staying in the middle of the gay area is nice. But it can also be a little annoying when you have to go pass by pushy massageboys at Soda Massage every time you go to the beach, 7-eleven or dinner. Specially when a few of their boys already chatted with you on Grindr and the fact you have shown them "some interest" makes them directly think you want massage today with them... Good that I quickly found a shortcut: via the garage of Agate you reach the main road directly, without having to pass by massage parlours or bars. Can be nice to know if you just want to leave the Jomtien complex without being hassled. Or if you want to bring a boy from Boyztown back to Agate without having to walk with him trough Jomtien complex (I've heard some boys don't like parade trough the complex). Jomtien beach I went for a walk on the beach and noticed how pretty Jomtien beach actually is. With (palm)trees growing ON the beach. Giving it the real tropical atmosphere. Hopefully the weather in the next days will be good so I get the chance to actually lay on the beach an afternoon. Relax, read. After dinner it was time to make a round in Jomtien to get a first impression of the nightlife here. But I will write about that later.10 points

Part 11: Up north Yes guys, I'm still in Thailand. The reason I've been quiet in my trip report, is because I was behaving like a tourist up north. Meaning doing some siteseeing instead of boy hunting. And I suppose you guys are more interested in the boy hunting part of my month in Thailand than lots of pictures of the beautiful places I've visited. So... That's why. I flew to Chiang Rai where I was meeting my driver and guide Woody at the airport. He is from Chiang Mai but drove to Chiang Rai so he could first show me around there for two days before driving to Chiang Mai together. Woody was actually recommended to me by @bkkmfj2648, who used his services on a previous trip. He also advertises on Siamroads. Woody praying in a cave we visited In Chiang Rai Woody was showing me some temples and "the black house". A museum in a few original Thai houses. The artist had an obsession with dead animals and cocks... I couldn't let the opportunity in the museum pass by to make this picture: Woody is a very friendly and cute boy. Well... He's 38 now so don't think we can call him a boy still? We all get older... Lol He and his partner met when they both were working in a massage place. Besides being a massage boy he also was already guide and driver for tourists. They both retired from the massage job, but are now running a gay massage shop together in Chiang Mai. With lots of nice boys: Classic House Massage. Check out their website. Aways better to first contact them via line for up to date pictures of their staff and so they could arrange your favourite boy to be at the shop when you come. Classic House Massage in Chiang Mai Woody told me that business in his massage shop was getting a littlebit better, but still far far behind from what it used to be pre-covid. Till now most of the clients are Thai tourist. The Falang still not coming it seems. Other gay-orientated businesses in Chiang Mai also start opening up. Ram Bar is having their daily ladyshow again at 9h30pm. Its a nice and fun show. Including male backup dancers. Specially in the weekend this can get busy. But big part of the audience was straight couples just having a fun night out at a ladyboy show. Also Adams Apple opend again. But I didn't go. I was not in the mood of traveling all the way to the other side of town to probably find out the place is empty. As that chance was big as the evenings I was in Chiang Mai it was raining. And from my experiences in Bangkok I know what that means for the amount of guests in boybars... Show in Ram Bar Did nothing naughty happen up north? Of course... But not much actually. One night I invited a muscleboy over to my hotel room after chatting with him on Grindr. A bit older (37yrs), muscles... He could work in Tawan in Bangkok. That type of guy. He asked only 600 baht so I did not even try to negotiate the price... He was a great deep sucker and was also a willing bottom. So that was a good night... A few times a week there are direct flights between Chiang Mai and Pattaya with Thai Lion Air. And that's the next destination I choose for my Thailand trip. Probabaly some more to update you about in Pattaya than I had the last days up in the North...8 points

Hello Emiel1981. I am truly happy that you had a great time with Woody and his partner. They are a wonderful team and a true pleasure to be with. DM me if you want to meet up in Pattaya. I finally made the move for retirement from Europe to Thailand - however, I am in Jomtien. It is not yet a week that I am here - and my life is upside down with all the things that need to be done to settle into my new Thailand retiree life.4 points -
From The Thaiger Thai teenagers are more at risk of sexually transmitted diseases (STDs) and HIV infection than adults says the Thai government and that is why it has approved a budget of nearly four million baht to tackle the issue. The Deputy Spokeswoman of the PM Office, Ratchada Thanadirek, revealed that people aged between 15 to 24 years old are more likely to get an HIV infection, and an STD, especially gonorrhoea. Ratchada made known that Thailand had 520,000 HIV cases last year, the figure is expected to increase by 6,500 cases this year and that most of those people would be aged between 15 to 24 years old. Ratchada explained that the government approved a budget of 3.9 billion baht for the National Health Security Office to take care of HIV and Aids patients. Ratchada added that the Division of AIDS and STDs would launch an official account named “Stand by you” on the Line application to allow people to ask questions about HIV and Aids, ask for a free test, and request medicine. Ratchada said the government planned to control the spread of HIV by 2030. They hoped the official Line account would make HIV tests and information about HIV and Aids more accessible, especially among teenagers. This would lead to more awareness among teenagers about the dangers of the diseases. The government would also like to emphasise the benefits of using condoms too.3 points

Part 10: Last evening in Bangkok (for now...) Yesterday was my last evening in Bangkok. I will go travels around Thailand now for a few week (up north, Pattaya, Phuket...) and will be back on Bangkok on September 23 for 5 more night before I fly home. The evening didn't start well... It was raining hard, the roads flooded. And the hourly forecast didn't look good either. But after about 1hr the rain stopped and it was "safe" to head out to the bars. I had some unfinished business to take care of before leaving Bangkok tomorrow... First of all there is the guy on Grindr who is for days already stalking me. He works in Freshboys. Don't wanna just ignore or block him because I want to be able to go to Freshboys again without "losing face". He looks nice and sweet, not sure if he will be my type in real life. So didn't want to invite him to my room without seeing him in the bar first. But he kept trying. Even on his day off. Decided to go for a drink in Freshboys first and buying the boy a drink too. So at least I've shown him my good heart. Lol Gave him besides a drink an extra 100 baht bill and told him I had to leave to Tawan because I needed to show my friend that place. Which was actually true as I met up with another solo traveler and we agreed to go to Freshboys en Tawan together that night. Because of the rain, the steps at Freshboys was wet and slippery. The guy I was with slipped and felt down, taking me with him in his fall as I was walking in front of him. I had a soft landing, on top of him. He took a harder hit on the concrete stairs. But was also fine. Thank god. He was even laughing saying that cracked his back without having to pay for a massage... But let this be a warning whenever around in rain: stairs can be slippery! We arrived at Tawan around 11pm. The show didn't start yet. When we looked around we found out why: we were the only customers... All the rest (around 20 boys again, same like the day before) were Tawan staff. We had our drinks, talked to the (I suppose) manager and I off course invited 6pack guy (see report part 8 in this post about one day earlier in Tawan) to come and sit with me. "I take care of you tonight?" he asked. Oh yes you can! Understandable, with no other customers in the bar, Tawan decided not to have a show that night. I was entertained by 6pack guy who took my hands and placed them all over his muscles body so I could feel everything... He was placing his own hand on my shorts while feeling what was hidden inside... This is even better than the show. Lol No show this night, only guys doing some posing on stage like in this picture from Tawan twitter account. In the meantime I had some conversation with the guy I was with. He decided to move on to soi 4 to see if, despite the heavy rain earlier, things were happening there. And I took 6pack guy back to Tarntawan. 2500 for the boy, 500 for the bar. More expensive than the average off fee in the boybars. But I wanted to have a Tawan expierence... And it turned out better than expected. One day earlier when I also was in Tawan, 6pack guy already told me "everything" is possible, except that he doesn't want to get fucked. He spoke good English so I had no reason to think things went lost in translation. Possibilities from his side and expectations from mine were clear. He had to leave his id card at reception of the hotel. In my room the muscle worshipping that started in the bar continued. And as promised he kissed, sucked my dick... And even more: he licked my balls and ass. Was very nice to feel his tongue go there... After this all came to a (my) climax, 6pack guy gave me a short mini massage. I felt his strong hands over my body and feet. After 6pack guy left, hotel reception called me to check everything was oke before they gave his id card back. To be honest, I didn't expect much from a Tawan guy. I was thinking maximum you could get was touching his muscles and sucking HIS cock. The expierence I had with 6pack guy was so much better than that...! Let's see what adventures the rest of Thailand will have for me in the next weeks...3 points

I don't blame anyone for their beliefs. I am not sure if you know that Moses not only owns the other chat site sawatdee network and has over the years also willingly provided technical help to gaybuttonthai.com. He did not have to buy sawatdee and keep it running. Several thailand gay chat sites have vanished in recent years. But he decided to keep sawatdee open. I don't know if you look at that site. Many do. It also happens that he lives in Russia. For all I know he may be Russian. Like it or not he is still as entitled as anyone else to his opinion without these being called lies - unless you can prove they are lies. And what reason do you have for calling him disagreeable? The fact is that much of what he has written is NOT lies. I have been there. When were you last in Russia? Frankly, I find your comments on this topic so totally different from those on the other thread "Your life as a Senior Gay Man". There you paint yourself as being a gay who has chosen to live in Pattaya but terrified about being seen taking a boy out of a bar. You tell us we will not believe how much "a bag of nerves" you are if you are brave enough to invite a sexy guy to your condo. Then how you almost hide in corners waiting for the coast to be clear. I find your activity on both threads getting pretty clear to trolling.2 points

Can I just say that I find the tone of this thread going downhill too quickly. Most people support Ukraine. A few clearly support Russia. Getting worked up about it here is not going to do anything but arouse deep-rooted feelings. I have never been to Ukraine but support it after the Russian invasion. I have been four times to Moscow and twice to St. Petersburg. They are both amazing cities with some extraordinary wonders. I loathe Putin's homophobia but that did not stop me making meaningful glances at a waiter in a St. Petersburg hotel which, if my gaydar was working properly, were reciprocated. That is as far as I went, though, I would never have risked anything more. In my view, anyone even attempting to find a gay venue or to hook up with a Russian in Russia is asking for a great deal of trouble - even if they feel safe for Russians who live there.. I know two blacks don't make etc. , but would those prepared to chance it in Russia do likewise in Brunei, Iran, Nigeria, some of the Gulf States etc.?2 points

There's nothing to prevent an individual from sharing their password to various types of accounts in advance of their death. Whether that password can be legally used post death is subject to "terms of use" and any applicable law. In the US there are legal services that offer to facilitate the process for estate planning purposes. This opens up the discussion as to what accounts an individual may NOT wish to be accessed after their death. Do you really want anyone to have access to your email, blogs (i.e., this one, Grindr, etc.), LINE, phone records, texts, Instagram, FB, Twitter). In many cases, I'd suspect the answer is no. So we all have some thinking to do. We may have very good reasons for providing our executor and/or attorney with financial account information. On the other hand, we may wish to direct the same individual to destroy any record of other on-line accounts (and passwords) upon our death. We may well wish to discuss our wishes now with that person (executor) who will be going through our things after we pass.2 points -

More tourists are venturing into rural Thailand, says Airbnb
splinter1949 reacted to reader for a topic
From the Thaiger Airbnb says more tourists in Thailand are opting for ‘off-the-beaten-track’ destinations, benefiting the environment and local economies. Thailand’s usual top tourist destinations are places with international airports – Bangkok, Chiang Mai, Koh Samui and Phuket. According to Airbnb, more tourists are venturing out of these hubs and into “lesser-known” destinations such as Koh Lanta, Trat, Pai and Cha-Am. On Saturday, The Daily Beast reported that "just one day after several municipal deputies in Putin’s hometown of St. Petersburg called on the State Duma to try the Russian leader for treason, their colleagues in Moscow joined in and demanded he steps down because his views are 'hopelessly outdated.'" In an open letter to Putin, deputies from Moscow's Lomonosovsky district recalled that Putin's leadership began with "good reforms" but that as time marched onward, “everything went wrong.” While the deepening quagmire in Ukraine was not specifically mentioned, the authors stressed that the status quo under Putin is untenable. “The rhetoric that you and your subordinates use has been riddled with intolerance and aggression for a long time, which in the end effectively threw our country back into the Cold War era. Russia has again begun to be feared and hated, we are once again threatening the whole world with nuclear weapons,” the officials wrote. “We ask you to relieve yourself of your post due to the fact that your views and your governance model are hopelessly outdated and hinder the development of Russia and its human potential."1 point

Will they be able to demonstrate that freely ? obviously their compatriots don't give a shit about those senseless deaths as we can see by some comments in this thread I wonder by whom ? Part 9: "Roomservice" Today I had lazy day. And I did what one does when having a lazy day in Bangkok: looking on grindr for a massageboy to come over to your hotel room... My choice of the day was a boy who works at Bangkok Spa in Silom Plaza. Before he had to start working at 3pm, be came to my hotel room to give me a nice massage. I was too lazy to go to the shop. And I like the comfort of my own room over a maybe dirty, old massage room somewhere in a shop. In my own room I know I can have a nice shower after and can just relax on bed instead of having to travel back to my hotel first. He had some very sexy pictures on his profile, showing a nice 6pack. Versatile, so so the after-massage-fun looks guaranteed. I felt for the 6pack... Only a few minutes after the agreed time he was in front of my hotel room door. No problem for him to get into the hotel. Friendly, goodlooking guy indeed. He spoke good English, always nice to be able to have something of a small conversation. He even spoke a few words Dutch as he visited my country (the Netherlands) and has a friend from there. Massage was nice, the after service even better. Good skills on sucking and eager to get fucked. What a nice way to have a lazy afternoon. And the day is still young... Still have the evening adventures ahead.1 point

You are actually right. Today I walked passed Nature Boy and had a short conversation with the person sitting at the door (couldn't really tell if it was a boy, girl or anything in between...). I was told Golden Cock and Nature Boy merged into one bar, in the location of Nature Boy (both bars were already from the same owner). Lighted signs with both bar names are now at the wall. Don't ask me for any details as I didn't go inside because I was in a hurry to get to my other engagements... But wanted to be able to give you guys a quick update.1 point

some of rooms there have kind of thick glass panels , not really window but still letting in some daylight. I actually liked their well organized rooms with ample desk/ table space running width of the whole room. Some of cheap hotel have their use for me when arriving late or departing late evening / early in the morning. Paying full rate for very reduced room use doesn't make any sense for me so if my flights land say at 3 am or depart at midnight I book for first and last night or two room in one of those cheapies. this way even for half day I still have bed and shower. For me best options in Silom area are Raya, Baan Silom soi 3 and Furama Xclusive Sathorn. I did not try yet new arrivals 56 Suriwong and Ibis Silom. Quarter Silom is excellent but rooms too small for a price so I rather walk to bars from more roomy places1 point

Trip report: Thailand September 2022
jamiebee reacted to macaroni21 for a topic
That was true in July too. Credit to Hotmale. If only more bars followed that example. By the way, did you pay 350 baht or 400 baht for your first drink there? They certainly have, but the role of shows in the bars' business model has changed to dominate the business objective. This makes the boy hunter feel neglected. His interests are not well served. But first, we need to distinguish three types of shows: They are (a) live porn, (b) fancy dancing by boys (or, more often than not, hopelessly amateurish attempts at fancy dancing), and (c) fake singing by fake women (I think someone will rap me for being politically incorrect). Live porn and some degree of fancy dancing goes well with a boyticeria; it complements the business well, since it interests the same kind of customer, heightens the erotic quotient in the bar and lengthens the time he stays in the bar. Fancy dancing should not dominate the show programme otherwise the programme starts to slip into non-erotic mode. Fake singing by fake women is actually counter-productive for boyticerias. Customers aren't in the bars to watch women, real of fake, why waste their time demanding that they watch? The ladyboys tend to be overdressed and the performances are more like cabaret. The nett effect is to lower the erotic quotient, replacing it with bright lights, voluminous costumes and deafening volume. My memory from the days of Twilight and Barbiery in the 1990s was that live porn dominated their show programmes. There were some numbers by fake women, but not enough to seriously alter the tone of the bar. Then Extreme Bar came along (Soi Twilight, early 2000s?) and they introduced fancy dancing. They did not flash anything from under the belt in the entire programme and within a couple of years, the bar went out of business. But the damage was done. The other bars began to "improve" their shows. More fancy dancing, usually with real dancers brought in for the evening to do 2 or 3 numbers (nowadays we still see that in the "B-Boys" break dance numbers), and when bars needed to fill an hour-long programme, more diva items were added. Then, from 2005, Thailand saw huge increases in visitors from Asian countries and Russia. What happened next to the business model of the bars and to pricing is described in my latest post 15 years of price rises. These new visitors to Thailand, while middle-class enough to travel, weren't big spenders like Westerners. Offing boys might have been too costly for most of them. In any case, as I wrote: 6 - 7 years later, these Asian tourists were no longer surging into the Soi Twilight bars. My blogpost tries to explain why. But more damage had been done. Firstly, the shows had been bulked up; they were now too long in duration and too heavy with gatoeys (ladyboys) and secondly, drink prices had gone up to levels that were off-putting for customers who were primarily interested in the available boys and booking one of them out. Worse, as @emiel1981 also noticed, the book-able boys are mostly hidden away during the show. In short: Shows in the form of short bursts of live porn add value to the bars businesses; shows in the form of hour-long wanna-be cabaret subtract value.1 point
