Part 2: First night in the bars... After a quick bite in Central Silom Complex I went for a walk. Clearly it was still too early to hit the bars. Soi4 was empty, apart from some people having dinner. Patpong same story. Empty. I did a quick check on what bars opened up after covid in Patpong2. I can confirm these are all still closed. And no signs suggest it will open soon. Maybe that will have changed end of this month, when I'm back in bangkok also again for a few night. Will see. I walked around to Patpong1. Where the night market used to be. So strange to see this street so empty and dark now. But everywhere it was quiet; also on Silom Road and Surawong Road. This area used to be so lively and buzzing before covid19. When I returned to Patpong 2 around 10pm, it looked like still not much going on. Apart from the patio of Dreamboy: a lot of shirtless boys were hanging around there. All way too busy on their phones to notice me walking by. On the other side of the soi, a tout tried to talk me into Freshboys. And as I set myself a goal on checking as much of the gogo bars as possible, I went in. The bar was packed. When I entered there were around 25 customers. At the beginning of the show (that started around 10:15pm) more guests came in. Till around 35 guests where seated around the stage. I counted only 5 girls, the rest was a good and balance mix of younger Asians and older farangs... The mamasan was fun, lively and not pushy at all. Same for the waiting staff. I've read other trip reports about airco freezing your tits off. That was not the case here tonight. Nice temperature. And also the music was not too loud to my opinion. Could still talk to mamasan en waiters. The wodka-coke costed me 400 baht. Many boys on stage. Must have been around 25 available guys. In all shapes, forms and sizes. Most guys had no or just only small tattoos. Only few boys had massive artwork on their bodies. In general I found the guys on the hunky (slightly muscular) side rather than the twinkly (very slim) side. But as I said, there were boys for every taste available... All wearing white (wide) sport shorts. So no tight underwear. There was one boy with a very intriguing tattoo of antlers on his lower abdomen. They disappeared under his shorts. Was curious to see till where this tattoo went. I was told this boy is gay and "can do everything". So it might be interesting to go back for him another night. The kind of antlers tattoo I'm talking about. But on this internet picture on another part of the male body... The show itself was fun to watch. Kudos for the ladyboy/draq queen. She came back on stage 3 times during the show. In some glamorous outfits. She picked a few good songs, the lipsync was spot on. The special effect at one of the show where spectaculair. She was wearing gloves that actually where on fire. The only little down aide was that she had no background dancers as eye candy. When I left Freshboys she was outside on the balcony so I complemented her with her performances and have 100baht tip. She told me tomorrow she is celebrating her birthday in Freshboys and invited me to come again. Will see what tomorrow brings. After 5 acts, the show paused for around 10 minutes for a boy parade. After that the show continued with more acts. Gogo dancers, candle wax being poured over an oiled up body, a solo act with a good looking guy groping himself and jerking off (without cumming in the end), two guys playing with soap in the shower (including some deep sucking)... It was all there. The big cock parade including the cock-slapping-against-the-pole... And begging for tips at the customers. So fun to see that when a customers gives one of the boys a tip, all other boys quickly gather around the poor customer all asking to also get money... Like bees on honey I would say... Its less fun watching it now I know this. Instead of staring at their cocks I was only looking at their knees. And indeed that's how the sound of impact is made... Of course it ended with a fuck show. With the boys still being connected to each other making a round through the public. There were going to be more acts afyer another break but it was time for me to move to Dreamboy. Another wodka-coke, but this one cost me 450 baht. The midnight show was about to start but I was on time to still have a good look at the boys on offer parading on stage before the show. I can confirm what has been written in earlier trip reports by others (see quote below): the boys here are in general a bit older, have a "rougher" look and quite a few look like they put one a few extra pounds during the covid lockdown. Dreamboy does have a lot of boys on stage (this evening when I was there around 25 and I was told there had been some offs already as I came in just before midnight), but just a few could meet "my standards". But than again, maybe all the in-shape hotties already went to a hotel room with a customer as I arrived a bit late. I counted around 12 guests, with just 2 girls there to watch the show. The show was disappointing. The boys doing the acts where in my opinion not the most pretty ones. Same for their ladyboys/draq queens. When one of them came off the stage to come close to me doing her lipsyncing, I could see her pockmarked face that even a thick layer of make up could not hide. Sorry to say this so directly. But it has to be an honest report with my opinion... Also the songchoice did not help. Where the briljant ladyboy/draqqueen at Freshboys used some showstopping up tempo medleys, in Dreamboy they choose slow diva songs. Before I knew it, it was time for the famous acrobatic fuckshow. I was close to 1am and Dreamboy was about to close. Decided not to off anybody. As I said I was disappointed by the boys on offer tonight. Must say Dreamboy did better for me before covid19. While Freshboys tonight was really good. But off course it's all about what you're looking for and what your individual taste of boys is... Because by now everything was closed already, I couldn't go to another place for a last-minute off. So... I think I have to make up for this tomorrow... But that's for a next report. Hope this was detailed enough for a good report? š8 points

Part 4: A night in Soi 4 - disappointed in Jupiter Disclaimer: if you're a big Jupiter fan, you probabaly don't wanna read this post as for sure you will disagree with almost everything I have to say. But... We all have different taste and opinions... Saturday night in soi 4, around 10:30pm Saturday night, time to hit the bars. Tonight I choose soi 4 to have a look around. Just before 10:30pm I arrived at Jupiter. Entrance fee (including 1 drink) was 400baht. It was crowded. All good seats in the house were taken and I was put on the far right hand side next to the stage. Next to the stairs from where the boys go down during their parades. There was a nice atmosphere because of the live singer. He was singing an English song that I didn't know but big part of the Asian audience was singing along. Probably some famous K-pop song. 60+ guest, around 15 women. And during the show even more guests arrived. Till it was completely fully packed. I guess 95% of the guests were Asian, and I wouldn't be surprised if I was the oldest customer in house that night. The boy model parade began with the boys in tight black underwear. Wow. So many muscles, so many tattoos. For me it was like being in a candy shop. So many tasty stuff I wanna try. But somehow it didn't feel right. It was very obvious that the girls in the audience got almost all the attention (looks and winks) from the boys on stage. Jupiter puts clips of their boy parades on their Facebook page Than the show started. Some acts I really had no idea what I was actually looking at. Other acts were oke. But what was remarkable that I didn't see any gay act. All acts where ladyboys interacting with the boys. As they were straight couple in love or seducing each other. And when a member of the audience was invited for a lapdance, they choose a girl to come on stage. More entertaining than most of the show was the reaction of an Asian girl next to me: shouting like she never did see any big cock before. Poor girl. Haha. It's probably not populair to say this, but: I couldn't figure out why this bar is in a gay street. Yes, they have very goodlooking guys. And as a gay you can take one home. But you probabaly end up paying too much money for what you get as I can't imagine these straight "gay for pay" guys will be any good. Some of the models ego is bigger than their cock I have the impression. But maybe somebody on this forum is having a great expierence with offing a Jupiter boy (or models as they call it there)? One other strange thing was that at the second boy parade they were back in jeans. That's a strange build up: to have them walk in sexy underwear first and jeans later... As I wanted to see if there would still come any gayness in the show I stayed till around 11:45pm. But I couldn't be bothered anymore by that time and left the building. To be in time for the midnight show at Banana Room. Also this place was busy, full of customers. Als here there were more woman inside than I did see in the bars in Patpong 2. Looks like soi 4 is more and more a place where straight girls on holiday come to have a crazy night out and that the bars in Patpong 2 still have mainly a male audience. You guys feel the same from your expierence? Banana Room had the cheapest price what I've seen till now: 350 for the first drink. Not that many boys (left): only about 12 on stage. The show itself had a bit too many ladyboys lipsyncing to slow diva songs to my taste. But at least there was some boy-on-boy action happening here. Some deep sucking on a big cock. Side note; in the big cock shows and other acts where a hard-on is required, the boys are always wearing a condom. Why? If it is to bind off the penis to keep it hard, there are other (more beautiful) options, right? Use a cockring for example. But back to the show in Banana Room. From the 12 boys still available in the last hour the bar is (officially...) open, I found 3 that I could off. But actually in the meantime I had other plans made up. During the time I spent in Jupiter I chatted with a nice boy in Grindr. He is working in a massage place and we agreed to meet up at 1pm after he was free from work. That's how the night had a happy ending for me after all...6 points

Part 3: āMassage? Massage sir? Massage? Special massage?ā A familiar sound walking in Silom today. Boys outside massage shops saying "Massage? Massage sir? Massage? Special massage? āā¦ I must say it's much less places in Silom where you get this questions while walking the streets then before covid. But still... On Surawong Road between the Tawan soi and Patpong there are a few (mixed staff) massage shops with male crew trying to talk you in. And also when you walk from Tawan to Silom Road, on the second part, this still happens. One of the massage shops with mixed staff on Surawong Road It was only a few times in all those years I came to Bangkok that I went for a massage in an actual shop. I did go a few times for massages when I was in the now closed Babylon Sauna. I liked that place. It looked modern and clean. Nice dark steam rooms where it was always exciting to make your way through it while touching and feeling around youā¦ But somehow in Babylon I always had the feeling that it was more about cruising around, watching and waiting for somebody better or hotter to pass by. There was not that much real action going on. Or it was just me. Maybe I was too shy and never took enough initiative. I must say I think its a shame Babylon is closed. Used to like going there. Anyhow; back to the passage part: I liked it how there was a sign in the room in Babylon where you could book your massage saying āno happy endā. While everybody will know that actually happy end was always possible with their massage boys. I was lucky they always put me in a āmore privateā part of the massage floor. As I did see that there where also massage tables in places where others could see what was happening when they passed by. Most of the times I wanted a massage in Bangkok, I would go on Grindr and invite one of the many boys offering massages to my hotel room. Sometimes a miss, but most of the times it worked out very well. On my last trip I was in Bangkok twice, as I most of the times did and also this year plan to do. I start my holiday in Bangkok, will travel around and will stay in Bangkok again on my last days. I remember I had the same massage boy coming to my room in the beginning and end of my holiday, as I liked his āservicesā very much. I found out I still had his number in my phone. Would he still be āin businessā Decided to send him a message on WhatsApp. It must have been a sign from above or something that put paths had to cross again, because before he had actually read my massage on whatsapp he found me on grindr and messaged me also. Of course this is not how he sent me his picture. For privacy reasons I've put that smiley there... Anyhow. Arrangements were made quickly. And a few hours later he was in Le MĆ©ridien in my room. His price went from 1800 baht before covid to 2000 now. But I found this an acceptable raise given his trackrecord. Massage again was good but relaxing. And also enjoying his sexy body and good sex afterwards was how I remembered it. He's a good bottom that does the exact right amount of moaning while fucking him in different positions. Not too quiet but also not too much and loud like in some porn movies. When guys do that I always think they fake it. Originally he's from the Philippines. Speaks perfect English. Because he couldn't find enough customers anymore during the pandamic to finance his art school, he had to stop studying and is now working in an boring office. He also didn't have the money to go back to his family in the Philippines. He's hoping that in time more tourists like us will find their way back to Bangkok so he can get more customers again and finish his study. After we said goodbye I went for a swim in the hotel pool and some relaxing, reading and writing this report. Wondering what the evening will bring today...6 points

Part 1: Traveling to and arriving in Bangkok It was last February I decided to start planning and booking my trip. Qatar Airways was having great deals with free cancellation option. I didnāt want to go to Thailand using any Sandbox- or Quarantine-scheme. Too much of a hassle for me. I thought letās book the flights for October as I was thinking by than life will be almost āback to normalā again. And when for some reason that would not be the case, I could cancel my flights and get a 100% refund. It was before fuel prices went up and Russia invaded Ukraine. So I was lucky to be able to book business class seats from Amsterdam to Bangkok for only 750 euro per way, so in total it was around 1500 euro. In my opinion, Qatar has one of the best Business Class products in the world. Q-suites. Maybe even the best. Both my Amsterdam-Doha and the Doha-Bangkok flight were planned to be flown with planes that are equipped with Q-suites. So much space and privacy! In my opinion this is almost first class, with your own little cabin that can be closed for ith a sliding door. Love it. And itās so nice to be able to have a good sleep in flight and arrive in Bangkok relaxed and not too tired. Q-suites cabine of Qatar Airways It was just after I checked in for my flights that I received an email fro Qatar Airways. The aircraft type of the flight Doha-Bangkok would because of "operational reasons" be changed and not have Q-suites on board. Actually, when you Google search, you will find out many complains about this and it seems Qatar Airways is doing this regularly. I was very disappointed that on my 2nd flight I would be in their old Business Class product in a 2-2-2 configuration. Less space, less confort, less privacy. It was a night flight. So they dimmed the cabin nights and actually the entire business class cabin went to sleep. So I was able to get some decent rest during the flight in the end. And the food was still very good, as it was on my first flight that did have the Q-suite expierence. Old Qatar Airways business class cabin, as I was having on my Doha-Bangkok flight My flight touched down in Bangkok just after 1pm. The long walk to immigration followed. I could use the fast-lane and there was only 1 other traveller waiting before me. But also the normal waiting line at immigration for economy class passengers was not long at all. What a difference with pre-covid. I remember extreme long queues there. Within 1hr after arriving, I finished immigration, got my luggage, taken some bahts from the atm, bought and activated a Thai simcard and was on my way to Silom in a taxi. The driver asked me 600 baht including tollway, not using the meter. Thats seemed a fair price for me. As Bolt was charging 500 baht without toll fee. I decided not only to spoil myself with the flight, but also to stay in Le Meridien hotel for the first 3 nights in Bangkok. Letās say this was my way of celebrating my return to Bangkokā¦ Same as for my flights, I was able to get a very good deal and ended up paying only 75 euro per night. My room in Le MĆ©ridien Smooth check-in, beautiful room with bath and seperate shower and view over the city on the 17th floor. You need a keycard to activate the elevator. So can't invite any boys into the room without getting them from the street / reception yourself. That's a small minus for me. As I like to be able to say to a boy I like on Grindr just to come up to my room. View from my room in Le MĆ©ridien I was in my room around 3pm and not much later Bangkok greeted me with thunder and rain. Decided to take a little nap. Woke up at 6pm. Took a nice bath while writing this report and to fresh up and get ready to hit the streets for dinner and some quick first bar exploring on my first night in Bangkok...6 points

Haha. Well... I've always been more a quality than a quantity guy. And as I mentioned in my previous post the quality that Dreamboy offered was disappointing for me. I'd rather skip a day than off a "second choice" because I desperately need a guy that night. š A visit to soi4 is on my list. To have a schnitzel at G's and checking out the boys in Jupiter and Banana. Stay tuned. You're not the only one suggesting this to me: Around 1am I did do my walk around the area. Boys where all leaving DJ Station, soi4 had become dark (even the neon lights with the bar names were out) so I assumed that had all closed already so didn't bother to actually walk into soi4. But maybe Banana is discretely still letting people in that late. You are right about GOD. I did see guys from DJ Station going straight in that little soi where GOD is situated. So that was still open but didn't feel like checking it out. When I took a detour and walked back from Silom Road to Le MĆ©ridien via the Soi where Tawan is, there were some boys outside the closed Tawan. One of them looked good and offered to join me to my hotel room. But 5000 baht for "just a massage, no sex" was not what I was looking for.4 points

What you read is the way it was in Pattaya pre-Covid. Not anymore. Boyztown has go-go bars, but they are comparatively expensive and don't appeal to everybody. Sunee Plaza is down to just a couple go-go bars. They too don't appeal to everybody, but are much less expensive. Walking through Sunee Plaza these days is like walking through a darkened dead zone. Loads of bars - most of them closed The women in go-go bars were almost all Chinese. Now there are none. Also, not everybody needs or is all that interested in go-go bars in the first place. I think Jomtien Complex is so much more popular now because there are many more boys working there than Boyztown and Sunee Plaza. Also Jomtien Complex is alive with activity, beer bars, restaurants, close proximity to shops, close proximity to the beach. It simply is much more fun there. While it is true no go-go bars are permitted there (and in all my years here I have never seen a regulation that actually prohibits them), I know of no regulation that says the boys can't take off their shirts if they want to and occasionally some do. People have to accept that much of the Pattaya gay scene paradigm has changed. How much of it and how soon it might change back is another question and remains to be seen. Don't expect much to change any time soon. Anybody besides me remember that crazy nut case, Bad Boy Billy? He swore he was going to buy up all the vacant bars and turn them into go-go sleaze bars. He's another one who disappeared from the scene and the boards. A few years ago he tried to get back on my board, but mean old Gaybutton wouldn't let him. Sometimes I wonder if I made a mistake by that. Oh well - I hope my curmudgeonliness didn't cost Pattaya a bunch of gay sleaze go-go bars that might have put Eros to shame. I also believe that if enough pressure is applied and enough money finds its way into the right hands, the day will come when Jomtien Complex finally does permit go-go bars. The best way for you to research is to check out all three areas for yourself and decide which works best for you.4 points

I have been reading this thread with interest and thought I would share my experience with Bangkok Guy. I will preface this by admitting that as I do not speak Thai and am not on the spot, I may well completely misunderstand the situation and wake up one day to find it is indeed all a con. However, from my experience of Bangkok Guy, I donāt think it is. Bangkok Guy has three different sets of financial needs: Ā· His own living expenses ā rent, food, transport etc Ā· Obligations from before the time that we met. These are wider family obligations such as the time-payment-tractor. Ā· The obligation to look after his mother and sister, if they need help. The allowance I give him covers the first category (based on a comprehensive spreadsheet). I decided to cover his living expenses after I came to understand how unreliable and volatile his income from the market stalls is. With his living expenses covered, as long as he is working, he should be set, yes? Well, no. Not all the time and especially not if there are emergencies. Partly it goes back to the unreliability of the market stall income. Durian was good business, then prices fell. Then in the wet season the markets are not open every day, so he canāt work every day. If he canāt work for a prolonged period he gets stressed, even though his rent and other expenses are covered by the allowance, as experience tells him that at some point he will need to help out his mother and sister. He has been stressed about money for several months but, while telling me he has āpobpemsā, he has been reluctant to ask for my help, even after I ask directly what the problem is and āHow can I help?ā Finally, after several months, very awkwardly and embarrassed, he let me in on the problem. His sister had been in a traffic accident. It was her fault. Fortunately she is recovering ok. Unfortunately she is liable for the hospital bills and the damages. As he always does where money is concerned, he sent documentation. Pics of his sister in hospital and her ruined motor scooter. As the man in the family, he is expected to sort it out, and without my help he canāt. He is very stressed about this. It appears to me that most of his stress comes from having to ask me for help. He is clear that this is his problem, not my problem. I do not have to become involved. On the one hand, he could be a fantastic psychologist, taking the burden on himself knowing that I will respect that and offer to help. Top of the Class manipulation! What I think is more likely the case is that he really does not want to drag me into his familyās problems as he thinks it will alienate me, damage our relationship and he will loose me. He looks sick as he names the sum he needs. He still looks stressed after I agree to send the money. He thanks me, but he is stressed. He needs to see that I am truly ok with this, that it hasnāt damaged the relationship. I switch topics to our next trip, to Tokyo and Koh Samui. Ask him if he wants to take the Shinkansen to Kyoto. Show him the black cashmere jumper I bought for him so he will be warm in the Tokyo winter. He still does not look happy. āYou need relax, work too muchā Ah! A possible insight. He always thinks I work too much and need to relax more in order to live longer. Now he has put an additional burden on me. āIn Tokyo and Koh Samui, I follow youā āYou follow me? Sleep all day and all night?ā He is looking more cheerful. āNot all day, I get bored, but yes we sleep. I look after you, you look after meā. Now he is smiling. I follow him. He is contributing something. We are still ok.3 points

From VN Express āOneās true gender is unchangeable. If we, parents of LGBTQ+ people, want happiness for both us and them, we need to change our mindset.ā Meet Nguyen Lang Mong, a woman living in HCMC, whose advice this is to people who face a psychological battle in accepting their LGBTQ+ children. She is the leader of PFLAG Vietnam (Parents, Families and Friends of LGBTQ+), founded in 2011. Every week, Mong, whose son is gay, receives phone calls and messages for help from three or four people with LGBTQ+ children. At first their typical reaction is to try and make their children "normal." But by sharing her story and knowledge, she shows them there is nothing wrong with their offspring and that having an LGBTQ+ child is not a shame. She says: "Many parents don't understand this community and they have deep-rooted prejudices against LGBTQ+. When they know more about their children, they will give up their prejudices and accept them the way they are more easily. It is the most important thing for our kids." Mongās advice for the parents is drawn from her own struggle in accepting her gay son 11 years ago. At first she did not believe her son, now 29, was not straight and scolded him for imitating his gay friends. The relationship between mother and son deteriorated and tension escalated for a year. Then one day she found out her son had tried to commit suicide, which came as a wake-up call to her. "It freaked me out. I thought I couldnāt keep treating my son that way." She then began to learn about LGBTQ+ people and realized they were not as "bad and indisciplined" as she had thought. "If he is happy living the way he truly is, I am happy too." Mong and her sonās is a typical and heartwarming story of the progress made by Vietnamese society in recent times in accepting the LGBTQ+ community. Earlier this month the Ministry of Health sent an announcement to provincial and municipal health departments and posted it on the government website. It said being LGBTQ+ "is entirely not an illness", and it "cannot be ācuredā nor needs to be ācuredā and cannot be changed in any way." your impressions are matching mine and it goes back to my first or 2nd trip when they were back at old location where Moonlight is now. Great looking but unsmiling guys so one never knows what to expect. I had few good offs from there but two of them were transplants from Tawan, one was smiling but did not survive from last December till May and another one I also knew from Pattaya. Few others were exactly as you say , ego bigger than cock or if there were good, experience was spoiled by them rushing for the exit, big sin in my eyes. Other sins you did not mention is too strong AC and to loud a music, perhaps they toned it down. I despise their practice of reserving seats around the stage for 'better' customers. I understand that logic but still despise it. Yes , I still go there every trip , usually early on after arrival, sometimes even 2-3 times but it's for eye candy only. But in reality it's quintessential boy bar not gay bar and yes , it seems girls are more their targeted audience, both for management and a guys. But we have other options so let them have it.2 points

I now can confirm this. Yesterday when I passed Soi 4 late, it looked like everything was closed because it was all dark. Today I was in Banana when it officially closed at 1am and was told they still open the upstairs bar till 4 or 5am. But outside in the street the turn down the lights so it looks closed as officially they are not allowed open that late still.2 points

commuting between two is easy, 10 minutes , 10 baht on baht bus, 60-100 baht on mototaxi so where you stay really depends which type of boys you prefer. If you like shows, BBB, Castro and according to some reports ABomb in Boyztown have one so Boyztown may be your prefered option. Utilizing cheap rates in ZIngResort you may have best of both worlds, stay in Boyztown and keep also room in Zing just in case. I did it once by mistake but liked idea and repeated on 2 or 3 occasions for 1-2 nights (I never stay in Pattaya too long preferring Bangkok )2 points -
From CNBC āWhy shouldnāt it be as bad as the 1970s?ā Historian Niall Ferguson warned Friday that the world is sleepwalking into an era of political and economic upheaval akin to the 1970s ā only worse. Speaking to CNBC at the Ambrosetti Forum in Italy, Ferguson said the catalyst events had already occurred to spark a repeat of the 70s, a period characterized by financial shocks, political clashes and civil unrest. Yet this time, the severity of those shocks was likely to be greater and more sustained. āThe ingredients of the 1970s are already in place,ā Ferguson, Milbank Family Senior Fellow at the Hoover Institution, Stanford University, told CNBCās Steve Sedgwick. āThe monetary and fiscal policy mistakes of last year, which set this inflation off, are very alike to the 60s,ā he said, likening recent price hikes to the 1970ā²s doggedly high inflation. āAnd, as in 1973, you get a war,ā he continued, referring to the 1973 Arab-Israeli War ā also known as the Yom Kippur War ā between Israel and a coalition of Arab states led by Egypt and Syria. As with Russiaās current war in Ukraine, the 1973 Arab-Israeli War led to international involvement from then-superpowers the Soviet Union and the U.S., sparking a wider energy crisis. Only that time, the conflict lasted just 20 days. Russiaās unprovoked invasion of Ukraine has now entered into its sixth month, suggesting that any repercussions for energy markets could be far worse. āThis war is lasting much longer than the 1973 war, so the energy shock it is causing is actually going to be more sustained,ā said Ferguson. Politicians and central bankers have been vying to mitigate the worst effects of the fallout, by raising interest rates to combat inflation and reducing reliance on Russian energy imports. But Ferguson, who has authored 16 books, including his most recent āDoom: The Politics of Catastrophe,ā said there was no evidence to suggest that current crises could be avoided. āWhy shouldnāt it be as bad as the 1970s?ā he said. āIām going to go out on a limb: Letās consider the possibility that the 2020s could actually be worse than the 1970s.ā Continues with video: https://www.cnbc.com/2022/09/02/1970s-inflation-historian-niall-ferguson-has-a-warning-for-investors.html2 points

Pattaya Questions, after Due Dilengence

In June/July the gogos had not really got into full swing with the exception of Winner from where I offed on three occasions . Transit between the three gay areas was quick and easy due to the quieter than normal roads and because I have no fear using motor bike taxis even three up. That was the theme of my post. I think for my next trip I will go back to staying in the Complex, with its profusion of boys, both twinks and more mature.2 points -
Are You Prepared For The Coming Global Recession?
Ruthrieston and one other reacted to PeterRS for a topic
In an earlier post, I used the 1970s as a comparison of what the world might be facing. In today's Guardian newspaper there is a letter from a lady who also lived in that decade which paints an even bleaker picture. "The current crisis with regard to rising inflation is often being compared with problems with inflation in the 1970s (Energy prices could push UK inflation to 22%, a near postwar record, 30 August). This has made me think about that time. I had babies in 1973 and 1976; there was very little part-time work, so I either worked part-time when I could or did casual work. My husband worked for the local authority and although the income was regular, it was fixed and just enough to get by ā so we managed. "I do not remember prices in the supermarket, or anywhere else, rising at the speed and rate at which they are now, and of course all utilities were still publicly owned, so those prices were stable. "I feel quite angry about the present comparisons. We didnāt need food banks, there was no talk of āheating or eatingā. But then the gap between the haves and have-nots was not so wide. "I believe that the 70s were the time of greatest financial equality since the second world war. That changed in the 80s and has never gone back." https://www.theguardian.com/business/2022/sep/02/in-the-1970s-we-didnt-have-to-choose-between-heating-and-eating2 points -
Five years ago, I got a blow job at G.O.D. top floor, out in the dark seating area. There were by-standers watching, I am an exhibitionist, so love it. This guy took a picture of my dick in his mouth too. I hope didn't break any law. š2 points

after watching 4 episodes ( last 10 minutes of episode 4 at least 4 times, hot , hot , hot) I'm 127, 84% sure targeted audience are NOT Thai schoolgirls. Neither schoolgirls from any other country. I think like with "Manner of death " they had that novelty idea and their target is mature, enlightened audience of both genders. Porsche becomes my object of adoration more and more with every scene. But I sense trouble is brewing , hopefully it all will end well in the last chapter.2 points

in 70's USSR was still superpower and communism was still well entrenched and with it somewhat attractive replacement model ( I know it sounds strange but I know somebody from Eastern Block visiting then family in USA, aged well past 30 , who was shocked to learn that in order to go to dentist one needs to take money with him, his favorite story to this day ). That kept capitalistic excesses so well visible today in check1 point

it may sound like fun killing but even better way is simply to avoid all spaces being too saturated with people. When panic starts chances of being crushed are high even if all exits are opened and unobstructed. Learned that lesson early , as a child I witnessed lady being trampled upon , thanks God , not fatally but still bruisy and bloody by crowd trying to get indoor to department store panicking from most of mundane reasons - sudden downpour. It's why nobody ever saw me at DJ Station1 point

Nowhere in particular - just about anywhere. You might be surprised at how many Thais speak acceptable to good English and can read English. I'd say your best chance are venues that attract farang. For example, a farang restaurant is likely to have more good English speakers than a pushcart vendor.1 point

These responses are why I think it is best to try everything Pattaya has to offer - Boyztown, Sunee Plaza, Jomtien Complex, the apps, just cruising around, venues that cater to everyone, not primarily gays - whatever you can come up with - until you find what works best for you - or if nothing else, the least of the evils. I also always suggest if you see a boy somewhere around town who attracts you, even if you are in a shopping mall or something, just start with hello and a smile. If he rejects you then he rejects you. You'll survive. But sometimes it works. I compare that tactic to fishing. Some will get away, but every once in a while you reel one in. You might consider making some cards or just carrying around a slip of paper with your name and telephone number and handing it to the boy if he seems responsive to your hello approach. It doesn't even have to be your real name. You never know - maybe you'll get a call. And don't forget about boys working in shops, 7-Elevens, waiters in restaurants, delivery boys, etc. The point is there are many more ways than only the bars to meet boys. I actually prefer those ways - I like the challenge of it. Over the years I've had many successes. And if I can do it, for sure so can you, even if you don't speak much Thai. I didn't always speak nearly as much Thai as I can speak now. I realize living here means I have much more time than people on holiday who want to get everything in before they have to return home, but it is an option to try. The days of being really picky seem to be over, hopefully only for the time being. I think if the upcoming high season is really successful, that can be the beginning of a true comeback and perhaps will attract some of those rice farm twinks back to the bars. If the current crop of boys just doesn't suit you, I suppose you'll either have to settle for second best or do without. Even under current circumstances, if there is anywhere better than Thailand to search for your type, I'd like to know where . . .1 point

Unless one wants to go to the few remaining go-go bars, Jomtien Complex is the only fully gay nightlife scene left in Pattaya. Until and unless there is a comeback of the Boyztown-Sunee Plaza go-go bars, what other gay nightlife scene is there? I truly am hoping for a major push to allow go-go bars in Jomtien Complex. Assuming an ordinance really does exist prohibiting it, then it's time for that ordinance to be repealed. It also could be that the beer bar owners are opposed to go-go bars in the Complex for fear they would lose too many customers. I don't think that would be a valid fear because when Sunee Plaza was in its heyday there were plenty of go-go bars and plenty of beer bars. In case no one noticed, many of the go-go bars failed long before the beer bars started failing. If I were interested in opening a gay go-go bar in Jomtien Complex, I would hire a Thai lawyer and also head for City Hall to see if there really is such an ordinance or not. I think we all assume it exists only because for many years that has been the assumption, but I have never seen it and I don't know anybody who has. I would first get all the legal ducks in a row, obtain whatever licenses and permits are necessary, and if it turns out to be perfectly legal in Jomtien Complex, start hiring boys1 point

Pattaya Questions, after Due Dilengence

There's no difference in essence. Eye contact and a smile, or an offer of a drink. in my day, guys would often approach first...nowadays, I'm led to believe, this isn't so common. I must agree with BiggusDikkus about JC's lack of twinks. I must admit that we only visit the bars early in the evening for a drink before dinner and so I am an observer rather than a participant but he's right; it is not a twink-heaven. It certainly isn't like the BT or Suny of years ago, or even, as I understand it, Winners today. The guys are predominantly Cambodian, a higher proportion are straight and the cute, gay twenty year-olds of yore don't seem to be much in evidence. And yes, I know this is dependent on the definition of a twink....but Biggusdickus and I seem to agree on that.1 point -

Pre Covid I often stayed in the Complex at one of the gay friendly hotels (Zing, Agate and Poseidon). But I enjoyed looking for boys in the BT and Sunee gogos. Returning later with an offed boy was usually by motor bike taxi taking what seemed like no time at all. On arrival it was good to sit in one of the bars for a while taking in the late night scene. in this way I to some degree combined the advantages of the three areas. However during my June/July trip this year I operated the other way round by staying at the Ambience and bringing boys back on two occasions from the Complex.1 point -

many boys , many bars, many farangs, massage , meal and accommodation options abound in very close vicinity. Even airport bus is just walking distance. Thoese are advantages of Jomtien. Disadvantage in my opinion - both boys and bars very uniform and hard to tell one apart from the other. If one is into twinks , it's paradise or close to. If one is looking for hunks , tough place but not impossible to find. One of my best treasures ever was found (or rather found me) at @Home bar. So again old mantra, go and check, even better , more than once1 point

and still after Vietnamese invaded and chased Red Khmers away in 1979 and all those atrocities become well known most of Western countries and of course our beloved Thailand , to their eternal shame still supported claim of so called Democratic Kampuchea (Khmer Rouge governemnt) to be only legitimate government including UN representation. Indeed. Two phrases for anyone who thinks it's fiction: Killing Fields and Tuol Sleng. When I first visited back in the late 1990s a couple of statistics stuck in my brain. At that time the median age of the population was around 16 years, and around 1 in 250 of the population were amputees.1 point -
In all my interactions with bar boys in Thailand over the years I have rarely heard a sob story, or any other story, designed to get money out of me. Yet strangely enough, if I did hear a genuine story, from I guy I liked, I'd be more than happy to dig deep and help him out. Rather then hand over a sum of money I'd prefer to set him up in a business of some kind - nothing too complicated - to ensure a steady stream of earnings (provided he can run the business, of course!) If the business failed I guess I'd just chalk it up to experience and move on. Years ago there was a guy in Pattaya who I'd seen over many trips; he was my regular guy. He had a wonderful personality and was so much fun to be with. He didn't drink or smoke and was certainly not a party boy. Oh, and he was a great bottom, too! I asked him what he planned to do after he got too old for the bar scene. He mentioned that he'd like to set up a juice stall. I told him when I came back on my next trip we could look into it. If the figures added up, I'd get him started and support him until he was making money. On my return trip 2 months later I went straight to the bar to meet him, only to find that he'd changed bars. I went to the bar and was shocked by what I saw. He was loud and out of control. He was obviously very drunk and probably on something (meth??). His friends in his previous bar told me he had changed after he started mixing with the wrong crowd. So that was the end of that. I never bothered with him again. Talk about a missed opportunity!1 point

I'm going to Manila
maump reacted to snowglobe11 for a topic
@Rick7235 it really depends on the whole purpose of your trip. Are you here mainly for cheap hookups or for some rest and relaxation? Manila, well Metro Manila for that matter, is actually made up of 16 cities and may take up to an hour (or two if you get stuck in rush hour) to commute between these cities. So I would recommend that you plan your stay based on your goals for the trip. The safest cities to walk alone in as a foreigner would be. 1. BGC (Bonifacio Global City) - Fairly new comercial district, lots of eye candy and expats. Though it may be hard to casually pay for someone at the streets since most of the people are here are yuppies, middle class salarymen, etc. But try your luck on apps such as grindr, planet romeo blued etc. a lot of Filipinos are actually attracted to Farangs, and you might someone for free. But if you really want to get straight guys, still try the app, a lot of MB advertise themselves in this area, though they may usually come at a premium due to this being a CBD (Price range: 3k-10k pesos and hour) * Nectar is located here ( see below for clubs) 2. Makati City- Main business district of the metro, not much of a gay scene, more established than bgc with lots of hot married men, some yuppies, business owners. Main nightlife area is Poblacion, where you can find gay friendly bars and pubs, mainly catering to the young professionals mentioned. Poblacion is also a known red light district but mostly catered for the straights. Once again if you fire your app here youāll find a lot of men for casual hook up or high end escorts ( 3k-10k pesos per hour, 15k above overnight) 3. Manila City (Malate/Ermita) - if you say Manila most of you may imagine this. Extremely chaotic, often times dirty. I would not recommend you walking alone here, be vigilant and have some common sense. Lots of MB here, some āMacho Dancerā clubs as well. Main red light district of the metro. (3k-4k for 3 hours usually) 4. Quezon City - Largest city in the Metro with some of the most famous āMacho dancerā clubs. Have a look at Adonis, Apollo, Fahrenheit. Or head on to Cubao which may be the area where you may have the most probable chance of soliciting someone from the streets. Gateway mall is a known cruising area. Cubao also has a lot of love motels where you can do your deed. Usual price for a trick is 3k for 3 hours. P.S. I highly discourage picking someone off the streets for your sexcapades, as this for me is too risky. But if thatās what youāre into then please do it with an extra level of precaution ( donāt bring too much cash, donāt bring him to your hotel etc). Try using the apps, or face book (there are a lot of facebook groups offering massages + happy ending) you may first meet them at a public place like a mall or coffee shop to see if they are up to standard before bringing them to your hotel/ love motel. Most would speak some English but donāt expect that theyād be fluent. Iād post some info about the clubs if I have the time. Though some may already cese to operate due to covid.1 point -
