  1. Part 0: Ready for take off While I'm writing this, I am at the airport waiting for my flight to Bangkok via Doha. Ready for almost 1 month in Thailand. Bangkok, Chiang Rai & Chiang Mai, Pattaya, Phuket… I have a busy schedule ahead. Planning to make an interesting trip-report for you guys. Off course with up-to-date information about all “boy fun” on offer at the moment. But also some non-sexual (boring…? haha) stuff. Any requests on what to check out while I’m around, let me know. The first time I came to Bangkok was in February 2013. As starting point for a two-month round tour in South-East Asia. It was my first time travelling solo. A big adventure. I instantly felt in love with SE-Asia. Not only because of the easy-to-get guys, but also because of the culture, nature and food. As a result, I would come back every year. As I worked in tourism, I had 3 months off every year in European low-season; the best months to travel in SE-Asia. I even managed to work in Phuket / Khao Lak a few months for the company a few years later. A dream come true. My last holiday in Thailand was in January / February 2020, just before covid19 hit. And now, after more than two years I am finally coming back! In my favourite city: Bangkok. It’s busy, smelly, humid and noisy. But somehow I like how vibrant it is. I’ve always been more a city-person than a beach-person. I was thinking about all the good memories I have in Bangkok. The many nights I’ve spent in Soi Twilight. You couldn’t enter that alley for 5 meters without being groped, touched and seduced by bar staff, moneyboys and touts trying to lurk you into their club for a “big cock show”. All fighting for your attention and money. Entrance of Soi Twilight in the old days I usually started the night with a drink on the terrace of Maxis bar. While sipping my rum&coke I could watch all the craziness going on in Soi Twilight. From there you had a good view on the massage boys of Bangkok Massage waiting for customers. Laughing girls passing by. Straight couples with the guy holding hands with his girlfriend and having a scared look in his eyes. Solo male tourists getting in ando ut of XBoys, Fresh Boys or Dream Boys. With or without their “catch of the day”. The first show I watched was at Dream Boys. How shocked I was seeing the act with the ladyboy with the very small penis and the acrobatic fuck show. And you could just choose from the guys on stage by telling the staff which number you like? A bit like Chinese take-away restaurant: choose what looks tasty from the menu, tell them what number you want and take home to enjoy… A whole new world to me; buto one I found very interesting and exciting. I also remember another club at the end of Soi Twilight that had a big water tank, where boys would swim in to do some kind of underwater erotic show. Was it Classic Boys? Watch this YouTube video to see how it was in Soi Twilight the good old days. Anyhow; I was used to all of it pretty soon. The shows in the different bars didn’t shock me anymore. After you’ve seen a few, you come to the conclusion they are all “same, same”. The only thing that kept me intrigued for some time, was the act where they slam their hard cocks with a loud bang into a metal pole. That must hurt! But somebody told me they really don’t slam their cock that hard into the pole. The noise is made because the slam something else (feet/leg?) into the pole at the same moment, so it looks the cock is making a harder impact than it actually does. But I never managed to actually see prove of this theory myself. Soi Twilight closed down (2020) Why am I writing this? Because as we all know Soi Twilight is gone. The last time I was in Bangkok, I had to settle with Patpong 2 instead. It’s good that some of the bars and clubs from Twilight found a new home in Patpong 2. But in 2020 I felt Patpong 2 was by far not having that special vibe that Twilight had. And for sure, covid19 will not have done anything good to change it become better. But let’s look at the bright side: Bangkok still has a lot to offer when it comes to boybars, erotic shows and sexy guys. And I’m about to go on a big adventure in the LOS again.

  2. I think what we badly need is another pandemic that causes Thailand to close its borers again. Then we wouldn't have to concern ourselves with those scamming money boys. Instead of looking forward to planning our trips, we could discuss the good stuff. You know, like how all those sneaky Cambodians have all gone home, the scheming Thais have returned to Issan, the shifty Viets have disappeared from view and the Burmese have escaped to that hell on earth known as Myanmar. Yea, wouldn't that be great.

  3. I wonder how many falangs are 100% honest with the guys they meet? How many promise, or imply, that they will pay more than they actually intend to? or find an excuse to pay less? or that they'll return to the bar tomorrow for a second "off"? Or over-egg their "pillow talk"? or give the impression that two or three nights of passion are the beginnings of a long-term relationship? We know the game the moment our planes land . We hold all the cards except one; the carnal one. As so often in our dealings with Thais, just smile.

  4. Hi all I was in BKK for a few days last week in April and 3 weeks in May and always meant to write a report but never did do. I then moved to Jomtien for the majority of the holiday with a break with a German friend and two Cambodian acquaintances. It was nice treating the Cambodian boys to their first ever time flying and had a lovely 5 day excursion with two lovely boys. As it was low season, accomodation was fairly cheap and I spent most of my stay at the Agate, which I loved at 1000 baht per night. It really is a gorgeous hotel with everything I need. So surprisingly quiet with amazing ambiance around the pool area. There was no breakfast or Sauna due to Covid but that made price cheaper. I am due to fly back to LOS on 13 October, only for 3 weeks this time, and looking forward to it yet again. My straight friend is coming also on 29 October and wants to join me in Jomtien to " dabble with boys and Ladyboy" so that will be interesting 😜 I'll write a report next time I promise 🤣

  5. In all my interactions with bar boys in Thailand over the years I have rarely heard a sob story, or any other story, designed to get money out of me. Yet strangely enough, if I did hear a genuine story, from I guy I liked, I'd be more than happy to dig deep and help him out. Rather then hand over a sum of money I'd prefer to set him up in a business of some kind - nothing too complicated - to ensure a steady stream of earnings (provided he can run the business, of course!) If the business failed I guess I'd just chalk it up to experience and move on. Years ago there was a guy in Pattaya who I'd seen over many trips; he was my regular guy. He had a wonderful personality and was so much fun to be with. He didn't drink or smoke and was certainly not a party boy. Oh, and he was a great bottom, too! I asked him what he planned to do after he got too old for the bar scene. He mentioned that he'd like to set up a juice stall. I told him when I came back on my next trip we could look into it. If the figures added up, I'd get him started and support him until he was making money. On my return trip 2 months later I went straight to the bar to meet him, only to find that he'd changed bars. I went to the bar and was shocked by what I saw. He was loud and out of control. He was obviously very drunk and probably on something (meth??). His friends in his previous bar told me he had changed after he started mixing with the wrong crowd. So that was the end of that. I never bothered with him again. Talk about a missed opportunity!

  6. I don't know if this story is one you haven't heard before. I've posted it before and it is one of my personal favorites. I knew a money boy who used to carry 5 telephones with him. When I asked him why, his answer was he has 5 different farang, so he carries a different phone for each of them. He has long since disappeared from Pattaya. I always wondered what he would do if he managed to reel in several more farang. In my opinion it is not a question of whether a boy is trying to scam you. The bar boys are money boys. Every one of them would love to have a farang benefactor. They've hit the jackpot if they meet a farang who will not only support them, but their families too. For most of the boys, their families are their first priority. They'll starve before failing to send money to the family each month. That is virtually ingrained into their culture. If you're going to support any of these boys because you want to "pull him out of poverty", that's your choice. First, I don't know what makes you think you are his only farang. Sometimes you are and sometimes the boy has several. If he is one who has several, do you think he's going to tell you about it? If you want to help the boy of your dreams - the one you met on your 2 or 3 week holiday, the safest thing to do is give him a very substantial amount of money when you are ready to leave to go back home - to your world of reality - don't give him your contact information (unless you want to deal with constant pleas for more money, and believe me that is exactly what is most likely to happen), tell him goodbye and maybe you'll see him next trip. Again, unless you are willing to take over full financial responsibility for his life, you're not going to pull him out of poverty, you're not going to significantly change his life, you're not going to become his rags to riches Horatio Alger story, you're not going to become his hero, but you will lose being the one in control and you will end up spending a hell of a lot of money, probably much more than you anticipated, and eventually you will have no choice but to end it with him. That is what nearly always happens. It is not the exception. And again, do you truly believe you are doing him any favors by removing his incentive to find a good job? He can't be a bar boy forever. What becomes of him when the money stops rolling in? Has he found a good career or is it right back to the rice farm? Then comes your next holiday. What are you going to do on that holiday when you meet another "boy of your dreams", go through the same thing all over again or by then will you have learned your lesson - the hard way? Bottom line: Use your head.

  7. I think these are interesting times seeing how slowly or rapidly Bangkok, Pattaya and Phuket recover from Covid-19. In my July visit, I noticed some instability in pricing. I saw a few instances of price reductions in bars' desperate attempts to get customers. I have a feeling that prices in September will be different from what I saw in July. If you could report on bars' prices each time you walk into a bar, it will help me assess their business recovery. Personally, I am a collector of details, but it would be presumptuous of me to expect the same of anybody else, but if you're happy to help out, we can compare notes regarding: - price of drink (there may be different prices for second drink and boy-drink) - off-fee. Most of us do make a mental note of how many boys available, but it would also be interesting to note - how many customers in the bar (need to make a note of time too) - ratio of Asians to farang; - ratio of female customers to male (a rough measure of how gay/straight the audience is) And if you could take a close look at the doors of Lucky Boys, Screw Boys and Bangkok Massage (all on Patpong 2) for any signs of re-opening, e.g. interior clean-up or remodelling. And yes, the bar with the big tank at the end of Soi Twilight was Classic Boys.

I was saddened to hear about your fears of memory loss. I'm in my late 70's and every time I can't grasp the word I'm looking for, that thought crosses my mind. Usually I recall it later but it still troubles me. Your writing certainly doesn't reflect any signs of it. You express yourself clearly and without repetition. The forums has become more of a sounding board for members to acknowledge fears, many associated with aging. I think that's one of the true benefits of a site like this that we can unburden ourselves of some of our fears and also describe what gives us joy. I wish you well and thank you for trusting others of us with your concerns about the disease.

  10. Not a crazy story at all. This really happened to millions of Cambodians in 1975 - 1979 after the Khmer Rouge took over. I don't see any embellishment at all in the story he told you. The horrors in the histories of Southeast Asian countries are many. Indonesia in the 1960s and again in the 1990s, the 25 years of Vietnam wars, the japanese occupation and brutalities during the 2nd World War (do visit the River Khwai bridge and cemetery), and the decades of atrocities suffered by the Rohingya and other minorities in Burma, just to name a few examples.

  13. From the Thaiger Alleged spies from the Burmese junta, disguised as Buddhist monks and nuns, were among 54 Burmese people arrested at a three-storey building in Tak province in northern Thailand on Monday, according to Channel3. On Monday, police, and officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Health, Mae Sot District Administrative Organisation, and Internal Security Operations Command (ISOC) closed in on the building in the Mae Pa subdistrict in Mae Sod district. The raid occurred after the ISOC office in Tak province received a request from monks at the Buddhism Bureau of Tak province to investigate the group. The Buddhism Bureau had received a complaint from villagers in the Mae Pa subdistrict who were concerned that the group of monks and nuns, who had been out collecting alms in the area, were not real. The villagers told the Buddhism Bureau that they were suspicious of the monastics because they lived with a big group of people in the building and regularly made a loud noise. The officials found a total of 54 Burmese people residing in the building, including 11 monks, 16 nuns, 11 men, 14 women, and two children. Matichon reports that the building used to be a detention centre for Burmese illegal immigrants but was closed down when changes were made to immigration policies in Thailand. No one in the group could provide any form of documentation so all 54 people were detained and taken to the immigration officer of Tak province. ISOC’s initial investigation reveals that some of the “monks” and “nuns” are not real monastics but are spies from the Burmese junta who snuck into Thailand to investigate anti-junta activities in Mae Sot, near the border of Myanmar. Some of the “monastics” told officials that they planned to travel to Bangkok to investigate resistance movements against the Burmese junta.

  17. What a nonsense. An awful traffic clogged, super noisy through road-one of BKKs main arteries for its choking traffic, though there is now also a clean and very efficient MRT metro underneath. Mostly for Chinese only-sit at rickety chairs/tables where rows of 30 yrs old diesel fumes spewing citybuses chug by (I mostly know it as I sat in those red buses, mostly the 53 circular), no footpath, no traffic management. Probably-or at least pre-pandemic, also a hide-hole for illegal Chinese. Which is nothing new-it started about that way when the Chinese came invade Thailand. For an open-air street -evening-market food with more flair: Tonglor/and opposite, along further out Sukhumvit. Or-go with a Thai-just over the bridge near the flower market just off Ywr-in Thonburi. The current situation about the open air guys market promoting themselves along Klong Lot canal-in between this road and Sanam LUang/Palace I dont know-I think der christian has mentioned it somewhere in his post-covid overview. In all BKK-big city must have at least 30+ of such food-evening-street-eat out venues, some even closed off for normal traffic those times. I think by far the most biggest is on the grounds of RamKamHaeng uni-an open field daytime along that road (still no rail-line to it, bus 60/537 or like 115 or 116 from Silom).

  18. I thought after only 7 years experience of Thailand (Living here full time for 5 years) I was still naive when it comes to boys and their games. While I don't know @Gaybuttonpersonally, he seems to be the voice of reason around here. Generally speaking I don't believe these boys are trying to scam you. They are trying to work your feelings and lust to earn money, too pull themselves out of poverty. Are the Khmer boys different? Yes - They still do it with a smile.

  19. There's a designated gay-friendly bar (about 50% gay). We've socialized with mostly gay couples, but to a lesser extent with straight couples. This virus isn't spread with fomites/shaking hands, as proven by a study which came out almost exactly 2 years ago. If you don't shake hands, do so for viruses other than Covid (Norovirus almost certainly can be spread this way, possibly rhinoviruses as well--though that hasn't been studied). As I'm sure you're aware, there's a huge number of illnesses one can get from sucking dick and eating as... 😉

  20. That's bizarre. In just two sentences you are suggesting that Thai boys are scammers hoping Cambodians are less so and all you say to substantiate that scamming is that you feel for Thai boy and it was worth it. neither ones are angels ( some are !) but in reality how many times you were victim of scamming by boys of any nationality in Thailand ? I hardly call refusing to kiss or bottom even if promised to ' do everything " scam but even so , how often it happens ? we are coming to Thaliand because it's Land of Smiles not Land of Scams. Otherwise why we'd bother ?

  27. I mentioned Indonesia. There's a film called The Act of Killing (full movie with English subtitles available on Youtube) in which the killer Anwar speaks to camera and re-enacts what he did. The WIkipedia page says that "The film focuses on the perpetrators of the Indonesian mass killings of 1965–1966 in the present day. The genocide led to the killing of almost a million people, ostensibly for belonging to the local communist community. When Suharto overthrew Sukarno, the President of Indonesia, following the failed coup of the 30 September Movement in 1965, the gangsters Anwar Congo and Adi Zulkadry in Medan (North Sumatra) were promoted from selling black market movie theatre tickets to leading the most powerful death squad in North Sumatra. They also extorted money from the ethnic Chinese as the price for keeping their lives. Anwar is said to have personally killed 1000 people."

  28. and still after Vietnamese invaded and chased Red Khmers away in 1979 and all those atrocities become well known most of Western countries and of course our beloved Thailand , to their eternal shame still supported claim of so called Democratic Kampuchea (Khmer Rouge governemnt) to be only legitimate government including UN representation. But at least UN peace mission in early 90ties finally brought calm and after few years, stability to such tormented country and now only skulls in memorial here and there serve at memento of what happened

  29. I dont know if it is true, but what I heard from some boys is that an illegal border crossing btw. Thailand and Cambodia during pandemic cost 300 €, shared between 2 officers on duty, one on each side of the border. Same story with Laos for 8000 Baht. A lot of money if you come back to Thailand and dont know how many customers there will be around.

  30. Cialis lasts longer (something like 36 hours compared with 4 for the others) which may be why it's also prescribed for BPH. Otherwise just try them and see which has fewest side-effects (headaches etc) but also note that some of them can interact with other medication and some heart conditions. You can find more useful medical information on the Doctor Fox website. (But note that as a registered and regulated online UK pharmacy they won't deliver abroad 😕)

As readers know by now, I can't resist passing along a great dog story. I think the Soi Dog Foundation has a lot of good ones to tell. From the Thaiger Soi Dog Foundation vaccinates over 700 stray dogs Soi Dog Foundation, a non-profit organisation, recently carried out its annual vaccination campaign at the Phuket Stray Dog Shelter in Thalang district, also known as the “government dog compound.” A team of Soi Dog veterinarians, community outreach staff, rescue officers, and a representative from the Phuket Provincial Office of the Department of Livestock Development came together to vaccinate 735 resident dogs at the government-operated facility. The dogs received vital vaccinations against six diseases including rabies, distemper, and parvovirus. International Director of Soi Dog, Dr Alicja Izydorczyk, commented on the importance of the campaign… “Annual vaccinations of shelter dogs are a must and should be standard at every dog shelter. Distemper and parvovirus are extremely contagious, and both are very common in Thailand, killing hundreds of thousands of dogs every year.” “If dogs in a shelter are not vaccinated regularly, there is a very high chance of an outbreak which can easily kill half of the shelter dog population.” The most common health issues faced by strays at the shelter are dog bite wounds, fungal and other skin diseases, diarrhea, and coughing. Any dogs suffering from more serious health problems are transferred to the Soi Dog Hospital in Mai Khao for further treatment. All this care bears a great cost. Soi Dog allocations approximately 2 million baht every year to veterinary treatments and prophylaxis for the shelter dogs. The foundation does not receive government funding but relies on the donations of kind dog lovers from all around the world.

Thai: can you help me pay my rent Khmer: my mother is in hospital, my boss never paid me for the last 3 months and my passport was stolen by a farang, can you help me pay my rent Neither are scams, just more elaborate stories to pull at our heartstrings in the hope of a helping hand

Yes I agree it's not a scam they are money boys and their job is trying to earn money from their clients and there is nothing wrong with it what we choose to give them or not is our decision, we don't have to forget that they are giving us pleasure and company while we're in Thailand and if they wouldn't exist I doubt most of us repeat coming again and again to the land of smiles.

Charming staff there too! Agate's public areas are 4* plus, if that's important to you. They are to us. P and I would gaze at and appreciate all the exhibits in the glass cases in the corridors. Other Agate guests will know what I mean! And its two pools are a blessing if sprogs appear.... P and I always had the sea-water one to ourselves. As I always say, don't use Agoda or Booking; book direct with the hotel. Much cheaper.

    A boyfriend?

@olddaddy, you start conversations on very interesting topics that generate a lot of discussion! I am one of those "loners" who has accepted my way of life and I am definitely not tricking myself. I prefer that lifestyle. I do have friends and family that I talk to and meet up with on a regular basis. I also travel often and have "fun" during those travels, especially when in Thailand. "Like I said if I wanted love ,I probably look at the Philippines again where it seems to me going by my experience Filipino young guys are really into Daddies." I have met a few Filipino guys during my travels and talked to them at length. Yes, many are into daddies. The ones I talked to want to be in such relationships so that they are looked after financially and may even be able to move to the country where the Daddy lives. It's also somewhat of a prestige thing for some, since their friends are already in such relationships. "Getting back onto Filipino boys as boyfriends they seem to be more caring,a lot are nurses in the West in nursing homes etc caring for elderly and great at housework and hardworking" A great number of nurses and care aides - girls and boys - in Canada are Filipino. Couple of my family members were in nursing homes and most of the staff there were Filipino. They took good care of the residents and worked hard. Unfortunately, these (care aides) are not very well paid jobs, but it does give them "Canadian experience", and after sometime they can become citizens. Many continue to upgrade their skills while working to become nurses (from aides) and RN after becoming nurses.

  47. Mostly very similar to how Thailand itself has changed in those 20 yrs (ahum, now that you ask it-my first visit was in the 80ies, so I am nearing the 40 yrs jubilee. However, the very first was out of Malaysia as a normal young bekpekking tourist and was not that inviting to come back soon-I was hooked to Indonesia that period-and in fact still kind of like it more as Thai). And it always surprises me how even much normal economy and daily living can change in TH when I return(ed-as in the past <covid) after 1/2 year-another wet season passed by. They all have a fone-or 2. They are tech-savvy with those things. They are much sooner bored with just sitting=waiting for possible clients to pop in. Most do not really want anymore to follow in bars what the big boss dictates, nor is here really a big need to do so. Command of foreign languages is far higher (chinese is also a difficult thing to learn for Thai). The most wanted brands for clothing have likely changed-the shoes remain Nike, but who wears shoes in bars/places? The walkmen (remember those?) have gone for passing time. The real advanced have even adapted to a cash-less world - pretty common in western Eur for now. The amount of guys talking about poor mums/dads over there in the ricefarms of Isany has dwindled a lot. And yes-it is no more just Thai+the odd foreigner from just beyond sneeking over-rather reverse. Big shift from being offed from bars to ready to act massageshops.

It's why we have so many posts about tips like you noticed, we always had and in future we will. Interest in beauty of Grand Palace or Ayuthaya ruins fades fast when somebody posts that his boy rejected generous 1000 baht offer for long time and counteroffered greedily with 10000. I don't even want to start with thinking what would happen here if that 10000 was agreed upon and paid
