  2. I found it so unusual for me my last trip to Asia. For years & years I could never be into older guys than me ,so when I was in my 30's going to Pattaya anyone over 40 was too old for me for sex even the moneyboys . I always loved the younger guys 18yo ,that's why Sunee was my place , plenty of young straight men ready to please my butt for a price Last trip I went the other way and purposely seeked older Thai men which I found on Grindr mostly all for free and of course in the Philippines I got off on bisexual married straight guys over 40 pumping my old butt cheeks . The only place I could find older Thai guys who done a sexy ass massage was the Thai blind massage place in jomtien but that was a hit miss at times . Is it unusual for tastes to change as we get older ? Are you guys still into young lads no matter what or do you st times turn and have older guys I mean like over 40yo ? Another question too , and don't take this the wrong way please but I know some of you are older than me and maybe only have to pay for sex but do you ever accept free sex encounters to from the apps Grindr etc or do you only prefer to pay for sex because you find it hard at your age/body type to get free sex ? What about when you go back your home country do you seek sex from the apps , Grindr etc ,what ages do you accept them? All ages if it's free or your desperate? So I was in New Zealand a few months in Auckland a few guys muscle 50's Maori type messaged me free sex to pump my old butt I accepted, big thick Maori dick, construction worker west Ng yellow high vis shirt , came to my hotel ,10 minutes he had emptied his thicker Maori balls . Age wasn't important even though I had for years and years only took younger guys !!

  3. somewhat surprisingly to myself on the last trip I noticed taste change but not one we are talking about. For years my favorite dish here , consumed more or less daily was chicken with cashew nuts. In May , all of the sudden I developed taste for schnitzels in various forms and was regular at G'Bangkok in soi 4 and while in Pattaya in DasBerliner. Long suppressed longing for Mom's cooking I guess ? As for OP this is nor surprising , when one is 30 , 40 y.o. MB is 1/3 older. At 60, 40 y.o. MB is 1/3 younger , quite a difference so it's not surprising you noticed change. I, for one, never was particularly fond of skinny twinks and I still like muscular older , like 25-35 guys , no change here at all but what I noticed over years is that I like longer sessions more and more. Like subconsciously I realize time is getting shorter and shorter so it needs to be utilized better and better. Or perhaps with age I just like guys more and more ?. When offing guys short time I start voicing conditions ' 2 hours minimum ".

    Le Prive Pattaya

On my infrequent visits to Pattaya I stayed there about 6 times. It was located on the right down the quiet Thappraya Soi 1. I loved it. It had only six bungalows set around the pool. In addition there was a bar and they served an excellent breakfast, although no other meals. They almost encouraged you to bring guests back and, yes, they gave you a key to the gate because it was closed at 10:00 pm. When I first stayed it was run by the two French guys. The last time I was there about 5 years ago they had split up and only one guy owned it. The website with a booking form is no longer. I suspect it might be closed although both agoda and booking.com are taking bookings. On their sites high season rates are around 2,250 baht per night without breakfast which is roughly what was being charged 5 years ago.

    A present for a boy

I guess most boys have serious personal problems which caused them to work as money boys and it's not really a dream come true to work in the sex industry (although I met many boys that are very lazy whom can't work at regular jobs so it's convenient for them ) many of them come from poor or unfuctional families with no proper education neither skills to work at proper jobs but on the other hand we have our life and problems too and we can't help everry boy we meet, all I can do is to be as much fair , respectful and generous to the boys I can and hope their life will be better for them in the future.

  6. I feel just as sorry for them as anyone else, especially when I'm certain their story is true. But I also remember I did not do that to them and I am not responsible for their lives. I do what I can without causing problems for myself. For example, one boy who I had gotten to know very well had gone back to the rice farm. Just last month he needed a sprayer and fertilizer. I knew - not guessed, but knew - he was telling the truth. Not particularly expensive for me, but way beyond his means. I bought the sprayer and fertilizer for him, but made it clear this is all I can do and if he needs anything else, he's on his own. He respected that and he is doing fine. He knows me well enough to know that once I set the limit, that's all he is going to get out of me. He got what he needed and I don't get harassed for more and more money. I have a life too and I intend to live it - at least what's left of it . . .

    The Buttigieg Twins

Pete Buttigieg Opens Up About Twins' Birth, Health Issues for 1st Time The secretary and his husband, Chasten, had previously avoided going into specifics. In a new piece written on his Medium account, U.S. Secretary of Transportation Pete Buttigieg details how he became a father. Buttigieg and his husband, Chasten, first announced they were first set to become fathers in August 2021. The news came after the pair had previously explained their adoption struggles. In early September, the two announced the birth of their first children, Penelope Rose and Joseph August Buttigieg. Now they have confirmed that the children were adopted. "It was what they call a 'surprise' adoption scenario — a mother had given birth that day and wanted to arrange adoption," Pete writes in a new Medium post. The piece was written by both Pete and Chasten but in Pete's voice. "The agency explained that there were some sensitive circumstances and potential health complications for us to weigh, but also that we would need to quickly decide whether we were prepared to travel to the rural hospital and begin the process. And one more thing to consider: it was twins!" Hours later, the two men were holding the children, who were born premature, in their arms. "Health issues meant nearly two anxious weeks in the hospital before we were discharged, but the day finally came," Pete writes. According to the post, Penelope developed "severe reflux, terrifying us when she would stop breathing and turn purple in a matter of seconds." It had been previously announced that Joseph, who they nicknamed Gus, developed a respiratory infection as well. Now the Buttigieg family has revealed it was RSV and the entire family — including Pete and Chasten — soon got it. By October, we had started to feel more confident and comfortable with all the routines (and the surprises) of parenting. Then one day, the kids got a cold. Soon it was a cough. Then Penelope started to have trouble breathing. Over FaceTime, our doctor expressed concern about the way her belly was retracting under her ribs as she worked to take in air. Chasten drove her to the Emergency Room while I stayed home with Gus. His skin took on a mottled look, and by the next day he was admitted to the hospital too. Just as we had during our first days with them, we again learned to live out of a hospital room, this time in Traverse City. We would take turns shuttling supplies from home and sleeping by the kids’ side, and I would try not to distract the nurses when the phone rang with a work call. While most of the family recovered, Gus's condition reached "critical" with the child being intubated. He was transferred to a children's hospital in Grand Rapids, Mich., where he and the family stayed for days. Pete wrote that he was reminded of his father, "whose last days played out on a ventilator in an ICU room like this as he lost his battle with lung cancer." As this was all going on, he often still had to work. Gus stabilized after a week. The children, now 1 year old, are both currently healthy. As much of this was going on, the Buttigiegs were under attack by Republicans. Some accused Pete of not doing enough to fight the supply chain breakdowns and going on parental leave — much of which was spent in hospitals, according to this new information. The Buttigiegs have not publicly responded to the lion's share of those attacks, which have often stemmed from homophobia, suggesting that two men should not be parenting children together.

  8. From The Nation Thailand’s first high-speed railway will link up with the China-Laos high-speed railway in a network that will eventually connect Kunming in China to Singapore. First-phase construction of the project – a 250-kilometre high-speed railway from Bangkok to Nakhon Ratchasima – is on schedule for completion in 2026, government spokeswoman Traisuree Taisaranakul said on Sunday. The first phase consists of six stations – Bangkok’s Bang Sue Grand Station, Don Mueang, Ayutthaya, Saraburi, Pak Chong and Nakhon Ratchasima. She said the second phase – a 357-kilometre high-speed railway from Nakhon Ratchasima to Nong Khai – is currently undergoing environmental impact assessment. She added that the Department of Highways is cooperating with Laos on the construction of a bridge over the Mekong River for the high-speed railway.

    A present for a boy

So I thought I would do something nice for my favourite bar boy in Bangkok, I noticed on his line profile that his birthday was coming up so I thought I would send some flowers as a surprise, but then decided against it in favour of sending something a little more useful. So I had a bit of a search on google and found a place that does decent gift baskets and decided to send him one with some food items, directly to the bar. Anyway, I wasn't even sure if the package was going to make it as I had not used this service before, I only know my boy by his nickname (and first name), and I didn't know if he was even going to be at the bar the night of his birthday (and package delivery date). So it was all a bit of a gamble. Anyways, I ended up receiving a flurry of line messages thanking me profusely for his present, so I was glad that the package was delivered successfully and also glad to make him happy. This was the service I used if interested: https://www.basketeer.co.th/en/ . I'm not really the romantic type, but just felt like doing something thoughtful for my favourite bar boy whilst I am away from Thailand.

Are you serious? I would think you know as well as I do that the last place on Earth where you have to be lonely is Pattaya. What do you want? What are you looking for? If you are looking for companionship, nothing could be quicker or easier. If you're looking for a life partner, that's an entirely different matter. You don't need me or anyone else to post "How to find the right partner" lessons. But for sure you're not going to find him by sitting out on the balcony staring at the sea.

  12. This is a very complex subject. First of all, there are countless (well, quite a few) conditions which cause an increase in urination, only some which involve the prostate at all. If the prostate is involved in increased urinary frequency, it's because the prostate is preventing you from emptying your bladder completely. The other symptoms which will go along with that are what are called "obstructive symptoms": straining while urinating, a less forceful urinary stream, a sense you aren't completely emptying your bladder, and dribbling after you finish, for example. Other symptoms might point to alternative diagnoses. Irritation and urgency would be more suggestive of infection, for example, and increased thirst and/or volume of urine would be more suggestive of diabetes (of which there are different types, including non-sugar related types). Blood in the urine would suggest either bladder infection or bladder cancer as a cause. Even within the prostate, there are different prostate-related causes, with non-cancerous growth and prostate infection being more common than the (still common) prostate cancer. Getting a PSA level checked is certainly a good idea for men over 45 or so with urinary symptoms, especially if the symptoms are obstructive. That being said, this does NOT mean it's a good idea for men without symptoms to get PSA levels checked on some sort of routine level. I would urge board members reading this to get their health advice from public health officials whose job it is to evaluate all of the scientific facts, instead of relying on emotional stories or discussions. https://www.uspreventiveservicestaskforce.org/uspstf/recommendation/prostate-cancer-screening Benefits of Early Detection and Treatment The goal of screening for prostate cancer is to identify high-risk, localized prostate cancer that can be successfully treated, thereby preventing the morbidity and mortality associated with advanced or metastatic prostate cancer. Adequate evidence from randomized clinical trials (RCTs) shows that PSA-based screening programs in men aged 55 to 69 years may prevent approximately 1.3 deaths from prostate cancer over approximately 13 years per 1000 men screened.3, 4 Screening programs may also prevent approximately 3 cases of metastatic prostate cancer per 1000 men screened.3 Current results from screening trials show no reductions in all-cause mortality from screening. There is inadequate evidence to assess whether the benefits for African American men and men with a family history of prostate cancer aged 55 to 69 years are different than the benefits for the average-risk population. There is also inadequate evidence to assess whether there are benefits to starting screening in these high-risk groups before age 55 years. Adequate evidence from RCTs is consistent with no benefit of PSA-based screening for prostate cancer on prostate cancer mortality in men 70 years and older. Harms of Early Detection and Treatment The harms of screening for prostate cancer include harms from the PSA screening test and subsequent harms from diagnosis and treatment. Potential harms of screening include frequent false-positive results and psychological harms. One major trial in men screened every 2 to 4 years concluded that, over 10 years, more than 15% of men experienced at least 1 false-positive test result.5 Harms of diagnostic procedures include complications of prostate biopsy, such as pain, hematospermia (blood in semen or ejaculate), and infection. Approximately 1% of prostate biopsies result in complications requiring hospitalization. The false-positive and complication rates from biopsy are higher in older men.3 Adequate evidence suggests that the harms of screening and diagnostic procedures are at least small. PSA-based screening for prostate cancer leads to the diagnosis of prostate cancer in some men whose cancer would never have become symptomatic during their lifetime. Treatment of these men results in harms and provides them with no benefit. This is known as overdiagnosis, and follow-up of large randomized trials suggests that 20% to 50% of men diagnosed with prostate cancer through screening may be overdiagnosed.3 Overdiagnosis rates would be expected to increase with age and to be highest in men 70 years and older because older men have high risk of death from competing causes. Harms of prostate cancer treatment include erectile dysfunction, urinary incontinence, and bothersome bowel symptoms. About 1 in 5 men who undergo radical prostatectomy develop long-term urinary incontinence requiring use of pads, and 2 in 3 men will experience long-term erectile dysfunction. More than half of men who receive radiation therapy experience long-term sexual erectile dysfunction and up to 1 in 6 men experience long-term bothersome bowel symptoms, including bowel urgency and fecal incontinence.3 Adequate evidence suggests that the harms of overdiagnosis and treatment are at least moderate. Adequate evidence shows that the harms of screening in men older than 70 years are at least moderate and greater than in younger men because of increased risk of false-positive results, harms from diagnostic biopsy, and harms from treatment. Before consenting to screening (which is different from testing when there are symptoms), it's important to be aware of both the potential benefits of screening (which, if you read the USPSTF, are quite minimal), as well as the potential harms--which are numerous and much more likely. So, yes, the original poster should probably get a PSA done due to his symptoms (especially if they're obstructive), and I hope he keeps us updated. However, the takeaway message should NOT be that all men over 50 should rush in and get this testing. There are some pretty significant harms that can come from screening, especially since the vast majority of prostate cancers never affect the life of the man who has it. There is a massive amount of science which has looked into this question, and professionals have spent large amounts of time actually reviewing the data.

If we say no often enough the requests stop in my experience. I completely agree not to get trapped sending regular cash to an insincere man. I've done it, though no fortune. A friend of a friend gave about £100,000 to a man he'd never met in a different continent. But I don't regret being in contact with dozens of Asian men over the last 11 years. I want to meet many of them again so my way I know where they are. When one of them threw himself in the river in Bangkok and died I was on the next plane to Vietnam to see his family. Of course many of them will give us a sob story to try to get cash. And sometimes their reality is grim. We can keep in touch and be very careful, and say no, and do what we can to help when we are there.

Indeed they are not. Love is placing the other person's well being on a par with your own. It's being emotionally available as a confidant and friend. It's accepting the other person's foibles as he accepts yours. It's taking joy in each other's company. It's mutual affection and trust. It's the realization that you are unquestionably happy and fulfilled when you are together. I've found that I need that experience in my life. And I agree that it has nothing whatsoever to do with sex.

    A boyfriend?

Not all of us came to Thailand "because we sought sexual intimacy we couldn't find at home." Depending on age, yes ... many. My first visit to BKK was in 1992 - 30 years ago. At the time I was not partnered but had a very active sex life in Chicago where I lived. I also traveled to many other countries. Sex wasn't the only reason for these travels, but it was an important 'add on". The only country I've made a first trip to for sex ... was Brazil; Rio de Janeiro. I've never lived in Thailand, but I have lived on other countries. The longest length of time I've lived "abroad" was the 6 years I spent living/working in Mexico; Mexico City. In Mexico I was in my 40s and had sex to a level as if I was starving (and then having been fulfilled!). Sometimes, early-on, I had sex with 4 or 5 guys in a single day. If it walked, I'd fuck it. It was an extraordinary time in my life. As I satisfied the urge I developed repeat encounters with probably a half-dozen guys. They'd just show up on my doorstep, unannounced. I loved each one of them, and there were periods of time when one or two would live / stay with me for varying lengths of time (a weekend, a week, three months, a year, etc.). Mostly young men from the country, making periodic visits to the big city. Not just in Mexico City, but in Acapulco. A couple of them were elite military. Awesome lovers, each. Direct payment of money for sex/companionship wasn't always expected. When it was, it was (at the time) relatively minimal (Peso equivalent of US$20/50 per stay, usually). Though, one was a dental student who needed US$200 for dental school tuition (one of the most fantastic fucks I've ever had). They'd stay with me, I'd give them a place to stay, feed them, do their laundry, buy them some new clothing, a return bus ticket home ... and in two instances money to get them across the border into the USA to join family members (one of whom perished working in the World Trade Center 9/11). "True love"? Yes. At my age, I've learned to accept what comes my way - with gratitude. Share my affections and accept those of others ... without demands from either side. I have no problem sharing what I have, when I have it with partners (temporary or not) when they need help.

  18. I see prostate cancer in men has risen . Please guys go get a PSA blood test and a rectal exam. The last few days I have noticed increased urination myself I'm thinking possibly prostate cancer and have booked in to see a Urologist next week!!! Please ask your doctor for a PSA blood test ASAP to determine your prostate level . Look to be honest it appears going by Google they can't do anything anyway if you have the cancer but least they can slow it down . I have booked in with a young Asian urologist which will cost me around $400 but better to be safe than sorry . He will do the physical rectal anal exam of putting his finger in my bum to feel my prostate .

  19. China! We talk about it a lot of time time, sometimes in relation to Hong Kong, sometimes Taiwan, sometimes its strict covid lockdown policy. Now though, a whole series of nasty events is affecting that country that threatens not only its own economy but the economy of the world. Last week, the CEO of Huawei warned that the chill from China's forthcoming economic downturn will be "felt by everyone" for the next decade. A long article on The Guardian website today points out that many problems for China have come to a head at the same time. These include a total collapse of confidence in the property market that has kept the economy buoyant - an issue discussed for years but always thought to be one the central government would never allow to happen - now looks likely; increasing popular fury at the zero covid policy; the effects of a disastrous heatwave affecting supplies of power and food; runaway inflation in the rest of the world "threatening a bleak winter for developed economies from the US to Europe, and from Japan to South Korea" and the resulting high interest rates bringing reduced demand from around the world [with the likelihood that China's exports are] "likely to fall off a cliff during the coming 12 months". In the 2008 economic meltdown, it was China that kept the world economy afloat with a 4 trillian Yuan stimulus. "But with Beijing in the process of decoupling from the western-led world order and debt-driven growth out of favour, another Chinese rescue mission seems very unlikely. Instead, China faces Japan-style “lost decades” as it tries to absorb the billions of dollars of dud property loans." [The 1990s and early 2000s were years of economic stagnation for Japan following the huge boom years of the 1980s]. “'In the short-term China’s economy is being hammered,' Rajah [Roland Rajah, the lead economist at the Lowy Institute, a thinktank in Australia] says. 'It remains to be seen what the medium- to long-term consequences could be. But China also faces very significant longer-term headwinds from demographic decline and ageing, creeping statism, and its increasingly difficult external relations.'” "Falling external demand is the 'next shoe to drop' for China, according to David Llewellyn-Smith, the chief strategist at the investment and asset management firm Nucelus Wealth in Melbourne, and will leave China in a perilous state. "'The private sector is being hammered by Omicron, the external sector hammered by global weakness, and public sector doing what it can to pick up the slack but it faces various inhibitions on fiscal policy. It’s a very toxic combo for China. Very difficult to manage,' he says. “A Chinese recession is absolutely in the frame over next year. That’s going to have incredible implications for global markets of all kinds.” https://www.theguardian.com/business/2022/aug/28/crunch-time-china-tries-to-fend-off-property-crash-global-economy

  21. From Thai PBS World Deputy secretary-general of the National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC), Prayad Puangchampa, was dismissed from service today (Monday), after he was found to be unusually wealthy by amassing 658 million baht in assets, many of which are being kept abroad. NACC Chairman Pol Gen Watcharaphol Prasarnratchakit signed an order dismissing Prayad from government service today. The NACC also agreed that his assets should be confiscated and become state property. The NACC faulted Prayad for allegedly deliberately concealing his assets by providing false statements about six of them when he assumed the post as deputy secretary-general on January 4th, 2017. The assets he allegedly attempted to conceal include six items, worth about two million baht, in the country and under the name of his spouse Thanipa, and four other items located abroad since 2019, worth about 225 million baht.

@olddaddy, you start conversations on very interesting topics that generate a lot of discussion! I am one of those "loners" who has accepted my way of life and I am definitely not tricking myself. I prefer that lifestyle. I do have friends and family that I talk to and meet up with on a regular basis. I also travel often and have "fun" during those travels, especially when in Thailand. "Like I said if I wanted love ,I probably look at the Philippines again where it seems to me going by my experience Filipino young guys are really into Daddies." I have met a few Filipino guys during my travels and talked to them at length. Yes, many are into daddies. The ones I talked to want to be in such relationships so that they are looked after financially and may even be able to move to the country where the Daddy lives. It's also somewhat of a prestige thing for some, since their friends are already in such relationships. "Getting back onto Filipino boys as boyfriends they seem to be more caring,a lot are nurses in the West in nursing homes etc caring for elderly and great at housework and hardworking" A great number of nurses and care aides - girls and boys - in Canada are Filipino. Couple of my family members were in nursing homes and most of the staff there were Filipino. They took good care of the residents and worked hard. Unfortunately, these (care aides) are not very well paid jobs, but it does give them "Canadian experience", and after sometime they can become citizens. Many continue to upgrade their skills while working to become nurses (from aides) and RN after becoming nurses.

  23. Incidents involving liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) in Thailand are not uncommon but we only hear about the larger ones. Although both are flammable gases, LPG is not to be confused with natural gas in any of its states (gaseous, liquefied or compressed). For gas users, the most important thing about how they differ is that LPG is a heavier-than-air gas that it slower to diffuse into the environment than is natural gas that is lighter than air. Should LPG gas escape its container, it will tend to flow down towards the ground or floor where it than begins migrating horizontally. As it mixes with air, it passes into and out of a defined explosive range . Should it find an ignition source while in that range (5-17% gas to air mixture), fire will erupt immediately. You'll find LPG in wide use in Thailand. Cooked food street vendors depend on it to fuel their stoves. These portable tanks are transported in on small trucks or even on the back of motor bikes. If the vehicle becomes involved in an accident, and the tanks are damaged, gas can be released. Tanks are equipped with emergency relief valves that automatically vent gas if internal pressure rises to high, but the tank must remain upright in order for the valve to operate properly. If a tank is exposed to fire, the internal pressure can rise rapidly, resulting in a violent explosion with pieces of metal becoming shrapnel fragments. The explosion in central Pattaya has the visual indications of some type of gas explosion. Gas explosions can occur without necessarily causing fire. The damage is done by the violent explosive force that can bring down walls, roofs and ceilings. The absence is of fire is attributed to the rapid release of energy before combustible contents of the building can be heated to their ignition temperatures. Most Bangkok taxis operate on compressed natural gas (CNG).

  25. NOTE -- I recall that Thai rejected higher offers in the pass because they did not deem bid high enough. From the Thaiger Thai Airways sells five Airbus A340s stored away for 13 years Thai Airways has found a buyer for five dusty Airbus A340s which have gone unused for 13 years. Thailand’s flag carrier has sold one A340-500 and four A340-600 planes for a total of 350 million baht. The buyer – whose identity remains disclosed – has already signed the paperwork finalising the deal, according to Chief Technical Officer of Thai Airways Cherdphan Chotikhun. The transaction will go through once it is approved by Thailand’s Minister of Transport, said Cherdphan. Since Thai Airways entered its debt rehabilitation programme two years ago, the airline has sold a total of 16 decomissioned planes. Prior to the most recent sale one A340-500 and four A340-600s, THAI sold one Boeing 737-400 and ten Boeing 737-400 planes, amounting to two billion baht. Cherdphan admitted that the airline struggled to shift the decomissioned A340s and there are still four more aircraft of the same spec for sale. THAI is currently engaging in discussions with prospective buyers for the remaining four A340s, said Cherdphan. =============================== From The Thaiger Thai AirAsia X to launch two Thailand – Australia routes Budget airline Thai AirAsia X will launch two direct routes between Thailand and Australia in December. The airline will fly from Bangkok to both Melbourne and Sydney, beginning December 1 and 2 this year, respectively. The Bangkok to Sydney route will fly four times per week on Mondays, Tuesdays, Fridays and Sundays. The Bangkok to Melbourne route will fly thrice a week on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Sundays. An 337-seat Airbus A330 will serve both routes with 12 Business Class seats and 365 Economy Class seats. Tickets are already on sale, with one-way economy fares from Melbourne to Bangkok starting from $299 AUD (7,552 Thai baht). 27. The NACC has been a toothless tiger for decades. Some of its own members have also been accused of being unusually wealthy. The present acting Prime Minister Prawit Wongsuwun, then a member of the NACC, was accused in a much publicised affair of having a large number of undeclared expensive wrist watches. The President of the NACC promised a "professional, transparent inquiry" in January 2018. But the President had earlier been a subordinate of Prawit! By August 2018 with this seemingly simple Inquiry still far from complete, the Prime Minister removed Prawit from the NACC. That December Prawit was cleared of wrongdoing by the NACC! The basis of the decision was that he had allegedly only borrowed them! Earlier in the 2000s there was a major scandal over the founding of the Bangkok FIlm Festival. In a 2007 case in the USA a pair of producers who worked for the Festival were jailed in 2010 for having given kickbacks to the Governor of the Tourism Authority of Thailand, Jutamas Siriwan, and her daughter which the TAT ran from 2003 to 2006. Even though the US Dept. of Justice had provided Thailand with all the evidence, the NACC took FIVE years to complete its own investigations! At least in this case Jutamas and her daugher were finally charged and given multi-decade jail terms. SInce the military coup in 2014 activists have accused the regime of numerous cases of nepotism. One involved corruption in the construction of the billiion baht Rajabhaki Park Complex in Hua Hin built by the army. The NACC disimissed all such cases. More instances of this country having a very different set of laws for the rich and elite!

  28. I am old enough to remember the recession in the UK in the 1970s which lasted virtually the entire decade. The primary cause was the increasing influence of OPEC which started by raising the price of oil by 400%. At the same time, the Conservative government of Edward Heath took on an increasingly militant miners' union. The end result was a 3-day working week and daily electricity cuts. Averge inflation in that entire decade was 13.2%. In 1975 alone inflation reached 24.2%. Between 1973 and 1975 poverty rates doubled. Britain survived but it was only through what might be called a quirk of fate. In the late 1960s the oil producers had discovered oil in the North Sea off Scotland. The UK was to become a nett oil and gas exporter by the end of the 1970s. How deep would the recession have been without the benefit of North Sea oil revenues? As @fedssocr points out, today lots of problems are coming to a head at the same time. With democracies now a den of partisan school bullies with one Republican Trumpist senator in the USA even suggesting last Sunday there will be riots if Trump is indicted - aside: how on earth did Senator John McCain ever find the frightful Linday Graham a close friend? - who is going to lead the world out of the coming crisis?

  30. Sorry, but I tend to think of all the tens of millions (maybe 100s of millions) who will be out of work or earning a fraction of what they used to earn, who will have to get used to electricity bills 70%-80% higher and have diffficulty putting food on the table for their families. There is no such thing as a "good recession" for anyone - apart from the rich.

  31. I've been to the onsen on soi 26. I'm sure there were other gays, in addition to my Japanese boyfriend and myself, but it was not a gay experience. It was a Japanese onsen experience, and almost everyone keeps their eyes averted. You will be disappointed if you are expecting any kind of gay experience.

  32. So true! What a waste of lovely brown skin. And that ties in with @bucky13's use of the term "peer pressure". The boys make these silly choices largely because of this. First there were silicone dicks, but many of these victims have since moved out of sex work. Then in the decade 2000 -2010, half the boys kept moustaches, but at least these could be shaved off when the fad passed. Now we're at tattoos which, like silicone dicks, are permanent. I don't know if this is really a change from before. In this oldest profession, certain survival strategies were honed many generations before us. But, to stay on olddaddy's point - how are moneyboys different from 20 years ago - let me give you one memorable incident from the early to mid 1990s. It was in Barbiery Bar ( a handful of us may remember that bar quite fondly) and one evening I was quite taken with a particular gogo boy. I got him to sit with me for a while and then asked if he was available for short time. I remember his exact words to this day: "I am expensive," he said. "1,000 baht." Indeed, that was expensive, for at the time the going rate was 600 - 700 baht. So I tipped him 20 baht and let hm leave. These figures may leave some of the newer members of this forum gasping. On the subject of inflation, I kick myself for not having kept good records of my expenses from the 1990s. But I do have notes from the period 2005 - 2010, and I am drafting a post for ShamelessMack2 showing how prices have leapt up since that period, especially when compared against Thailand's much more moderate increase in the Consumer Price Index. Coming soon....

    A present for a boy

Oh yes I do know - only too well. I too lived by myself. I came to Thailand years before living there and went through it many times. For me some of the most terrible days of my life were the days my holiday was over and i had to return to the USA. I clearly remember more than once, when I had to change planes in Tokyo on my way back to the USA, right next to the plane to the USA there was a plane getting ready to go to Bangkok. It was all I could do not to try to board that plane. Personally, though it isn't easy, I'd choose being lonely and realistically looking forward to my next holiday in Thailand rather than get stuck in a money trap with obviously insincere boy. Unfortunately, the choice becomes accepting reality or trying to continue living a fantasy. I hope you make the right decision.

  36. The flip side of the question is likewise worth considering: How are customers different than say 20 years ago? They're older They're more suspicious They're more paranoid Other than that, I don't see a lot of difference 🙂

    A present for a boy

Others may disagree with me, but I've learned not to even try to buy gifts for the boys. Instead I give money and let them buy what they want. Most times when farang buy gifts for the boys, the boy will react very happy about it. Later he will either throw it away or give it to somebody else. Giving money may seem tacky to us, but believe me, unless the boy specifically asked for something, he'll appreciate money much more than a gift you pick out for him. And to the boys a gift of money is not tacky at all.

    A present for a boy

Agreed - I also had the same thoughts. There was no ulterior motive behind the act - I am a realistic guy, not lonely nor looking for love, and I know he is a money boy and understand his line of work. I'm not trying to get better service or anything, merely just doing something nice because I appreciated our time together. But I do understand your sentiment. Exactly!

    SP/RJ Return Trip

Saturday would be my last opportunity to visit a sauna in the evening as I would be leaving in the afternoon on Sunday. I decided to go to 117 for my last night which turned out to be a good choice as I had a couple of sessions with two guys I had met earlier on the trip. A fun way to finish my sauna visits for this trip. Sunday I visited the hippie market in Ipanema before heading to the airport in the afternoon. Catching a connecting flight to GRU and starting the long journey home. The trip had been a great experience with the opportunity to meet some amazing guys. I will get to do it all again in a months time.

  46. The only thing you did wrong was thinking you did something wrong. You did nothing wrong at all. You make a good point about trying to joke with them, at least until you know the kinds of things they think are funny and the kinds of jokes they just don't get. Rodney Dangerfield would be a total flop in Thailand. And don't take it personally or feel insulted if a boy calls you old or fat or bald. That's one of their ideas of humor and they mean nothing by it. Understanding their sense of humor takes time. For example, if a boy calls me fat, I just laugh and tell him I'm not fat. I'm having a baby. That's the kind of thing they think is hilarious.

  47. From Thairath / Thaiger Five people were injured, three seriously, following an explosion at a liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) plant in the Samut Prakarn province near Bangkok in the early hours of this morning. One of the big cylinders is believed to have exploded, spreading to others, and started a blaze at the V.I.P Petroleum plant, in the Bang Sao Thong district of Samut Prakarn province. Five Burmese employees, who lived near the plant in workers’ houses in the area, were injured in the fire, them of them seriously. A rescue team and firefighters’ report revealed there were a number of flammable items in the area, such as houses, cars, motorcycles, and tyres. It made the fire bigger and more dangerous. The area is also surrounded by LPG gas which is highly flammable. Firefighters and officers spent about one hour turning all LPG’s valves off to help control the situation. A 42 year old worker, Anuchit Jaidee, made public that the gas plant has about 30 workers, both Thais, and migrants. They start work at 8am and finish at 5pm, but added no one was working inside the plant during the explosion, which happened at 12.20am. Workers living in accommodation near the gas plant heard the loud explosion, went to investigate, and consequently, five of them got hurt.
