It's hardly a secret that the majority of posters here are in the 50+ age group so it's understandable that issues about aging frequently come up. It becomes a time in our lives when we realize when we tend to look back with both fondness and regret. That's perfectly normal. But if we find ourselves dwelling too much on the rear view mirror, we risk allowing it to inhibit our future. At least that's the case for me. From time to time I enjoy reminiscing about earlier days but I'm also keenly aware that I'm increasingly focused on whatever years I have remaining. Vinapu offers sage advice when he encourages us to start planning our next trip. It's not a magic elixir but there are probably few better antidotes to the blues. Growing old and gay presents is own special breed of challenges. As some have written about on these pages, we tend to have few--if any--family members we're comfortable discussing our sexuality with. As much as we'd like to talk about our trips to Thailand, we usually keep it to ourselves or restrict it to forums like this. Yes, it can be quite lonely at times. Posters have described the pain complete strangers have caused them when they're in the company of young men. This also has the potential to inhibit the way we lead our lives. One close friend gave me this advice when I come across someone like that: "See them for what they are in our life: trash. Visualize tossing them in a bag and disposing them along with the rubbish and forget them. They're not worth another second's thought." Regardless of our age, we have enough other issues that we can't avoid, health and finances among them. We deal with them as best we can but we don't have to allow the stares and remarks of bigots stand in our way of happiness.5 points

From Pattaya Mail By Barry Kenyon The Tourist Authority of Thailand is pressurizing the government to allow most vacationing foreigners to visit Thailand for up to three months without obtaining a visa from their local Thai embassy abroad. Visitors from 64 countries (including Brits, Russians, Australians, Americans and most mainland Europeans) are already visa-exempt. They obtain 30 days free-of-charge on arrival which can be extended for a further month at Thai immigration on payment of 1,900 baht. If the Thai Cabinet, as expected, accepts the proposal, these periods would become 45-plus-45 days for a total of three months. A similar discretion would apply to those from 19 countries (including mega-markets China and India) whose citizens require a visa-on-arrival costing 1,900 baht (US$54) at Thai airports. Currently, they receive only 15 days but would now receive 45 days plus a further 45 days extension. TAT is also proposing abolition of the fee, but this is thought less likely for budgetary reasons. The movement towards 90 day entry without involving embassies in the home country is partly to end visa application delays, but more especially to encourage longer stays and higher spending. Thai authorities seem determined right now to ease entry for foreigners. Pre-flight and online registration, anti-Covid insurance and even the TM6 address card have all been suspended. Arriving passengers no longer have to fill in any forms, although Ministry of Health officials may conduct random health checks on anyone looking ill. The experience compares favorably with Cambodia, for instance, where all foreigners must fill in a visa application, a health questionnaire and a customs declaration all collected at different desks. Yuthasak Supasorn, the TAT governor, this week also announced that the 300 baht tourist fee, to be levied on foreigners, would not now be implemented for “one or two years” as the imperative is get tourist numbers up from the doldrums. The tax had been heavily criticized as not worth the hassle. Security expert Colin Ross said Thai authorities had finally realized that form-filling was a poor way of monitoring foreigners. “Computerization of records and tracking people’s GPS location via mobile phones makes a lot more sense,” he said. He added that once virtual passports replace the documentary version, travellers’ identity and biometrics would be stored in a cloud. No need to carry the passport or fear it being stolen. But that’s a few years away yet. =========================== From Pattaya News Propose end of hospitels and hotel isolation in September The Department of Health Service Support of the Ministry of Public Health is planning to propose the cancellation of hospitel and hotel isolation on September 1st. Director-General Dr. Thares Krasanaiyarawiwong revealed on Wednesday, August 10th, that the Department will propose the cancellation to the Public Health Ministry after the resolving situation of the Covid-19 outbreak in Thailand. The proposal will be introduced to Minister Anutin Charnvirakul before being issued as a Public Health announcement in the following step. It is initially planned to be implemented in September, if approved.4 points

I'm always one who believes in "moving on" and accepting change I'm 62 so I like to embrace change I always say that to my same age work colleagues especially when they are critical of newer much younger work colleagues who may seem things differently, I like to be the one to accept change I never want to be one that "well when I was a boy..... But strangely when I was in Pattaya last month, I sat in Boyztown, and reminiscenced about what was ,what used to be I sat there at a table with a few beers at the and the bar next to it and I actually spoke to the mamasan? manager ( I don't think they are called mamasans nowadays?) there who sadly, sadly had absolutely no idea of the Dolly sisters or never ( I won't mention names) of the previous farang owners , he even called over other boys who also had no idea . Look I know times move on ,they aren't expected to know ,it's in the past ,it was me of course wanting it to be like old times thinking of the funny farang owners that used to run it ,the infamous Dolly sisters etc It's got me thinking that times are soon forgotten, younger people move in, they have no idea what the times nor the people that it used to have . I sat there drinking by myself with the Thai manager of the bar sitting next to me as I'm mumbling " street talk used to be over there " him nodding at me looking at me weirdly" they used to sell wonderful pastrami sandwiches😳😳 Another 2 boys sitting nearby both live on their tiktok said in great English " how long ago was that ? " Oh about 20 years ago " I said Then they both laughed , 20 year ago I five said one all laughing. They must of thought I was a reminiscent old man👴👴 Of course times have moved on,even at the bar we were sitting at had memories but the guys had no idea who the previous owners nor the good times that went on there ,I looked back into the bar from my outside table , the memories of the Dolly sisters etc , of course the guys had no idea about all that , as they dance live on their tiktok and Facebook to their friends , The manager looked at me looking back into the bar " you want another drink ? He asked " No no , I said ,just thinking about the past , all the Dolly's , obviously looking at me like I was a old nutter and the silly thing is I was rambling on like a old drunk after 5 beers and I remember telling them about the mamasan at Cityboys go go bringing his cat to work. The Thai manager guy sitting next to me good English "and the cat was Dolly? " No no Dolly sisters were here I said pointing in the bar All 3 guys looking at me weirdly " the cat and sisters he brought here?then they all laughing thinking drink as a skunk 🥳🥳 😂 And strangely or ironically I just read the obituary in the Pattaya mail of the latest Dolly sister to depart which brought back more memories. It's sad in a way ,but things can't stay the same ,but even sadder that people & times are forgotten. Here I am sitting in a bar that 15 years ago was pumping and the owners famous , fast forward and the guys in Boyztown have no idea what I was on about .😳 Probably thought I was some nutter talking about his dolly cat and streettalk 😂 I was very fond of the Dolly sisters though , I used to love the Boyztown area back then. I used to remember all the famous/ infamous bar owners , all the good ones & bad ones 😂 Nowadays there's none of that ,no one to even mention really ,no bar owners stand out anymore ,no infamous or famous ones! But how fast has life gone by with all these passing, it makes you appreciate your every day more, I often think I'm 62 I have probably 15 to 20 years left, I have to enjoy it Oh well, forgive me I'm getting old ,past is over I know I know what you all thinking and want to say to me 😂 "Oh shut up you rambling old fool 🤣🤣4 points

Times will always change whether we like it or not, sadly. Switching to Bangkok, I always thought the best gogo bar was Barbiery directly across Suriwong from Soi Twilight. It started up in the mid-1980s and was always packed - mostly with Thais - at the weekends. It must have had around 100 boys working there, all seemingly enjoying themselves, and great shows which again those taking part seemed to thoroughly enjoy. Indeed, there was a sense that everyone was having fun in so many of the bars in "those days". For whatever reason, Barbiery changed location to a modern building opposite Nature Boys around 2000. Compared to its earlier incarnation, it was a disaster and died less than 2 years later. So sad! Even earlier, I have written before of my first favourite bar being Apollo which i discovered in early 1980. It was located on the right side at the end of Silom Soi 4 (above where Sphinx restaurant was later to appear). As was to happen when the original Twilight moved to its location at the end of Soi Twilight, at around 9:30 pm the boys would all take off their underwear and dance naked for the rest of the evening. For those interested, there is a fascinating thread of the early years of Soi Twilight over on sawatdee. It's a long thread but a great read. https://sawatdeenetwork.com/v4/showthread.php?21487-History-of-Soi-Twilight I'm factionally older and I still work, but I work for myself and I am fortunate that I have no set hours and no set schedule. I have had a great career which for the most part I really loved. I enjoy keeping in touch and working occasionally even though retired. I would find life quite boring without that.4 points

In the link above you will find link to QC code https://lin.ee/0bEVlWQ and you can join them on Line using that. I just did yesterday. So far they did not send me anything other than introductory welcome message. before closure they specialized in hunky masseurs, it's why I'm one of those looking for the to re-open hoping they will stay that course. It was one of shops on more expensive side, 1000 massage 1500 min. tip. as for experiences , like most shops it varied depending to whom you talk but I was lucky one and invariably was leaving premises very happy every time. M, Jack, Tim, Tik and few more were outstanding. On personal level Senso along with Arena were only two gay places where I had goosebumps on approach, don't ask me why. Even in May when I know surely shop is still closed when passing by to my hotel I noticed increased heart beat. It must be underground river or something , lol.2 points

I did not know people live that long ! On serious note , 67 is not old, it's when life begins as long as health serves us well. Most duties and chores are gone and done , we may have some usable resources and pension is deposited regularly, it's time to enjoy what we have left. And yes, to plan that next Thai trip2 points

Which massage place has the most handsome (masculine) guys? (In august 2022)

you won't be disappointed at Sabaidee. Keep in mind than many guys there may not be available if you just show up on given day. From what I was told guys there are free to come and go without fixed schedule. On another hand they may be few interesting whose pics are not posted for some reason. For hunks it's now most interesting option but that may possibly change if Senso and Prince re-opens. On another hand VCK Club in Aree area is still alive and kicking although with reputation of being more place for Asians K-Man's accolades are well deserved but guys there are less hunky, more next door types , no shortage of handsome and sizable though. In general, while a lot of places closed still there's enough of them to keep one busy and his funds depleted for quite long vacations so availability of handsome and willing masseurs is least of any tourist concerns.2 points -

I have been to all except Calgary. The nearest I got was Banff! Cannot agree at all with the comments about lack of entertainment and culture. All, including Calgary, are home to symphony orchestras, some of them absolutely amongst the best in the world with three better than any orchestra in London, Paris or NYC (Vienna Philharmonic, Royal Concertgebouwm Royal Danish and Amsterdam Baroque Orchestras, for example, and to that list can be added more orchestras like the Vienna Symphony, Melbourne Symphony, Osaka Philharmonic); many have international opera companies (the Vienna Staatsoper is one of the world's top four) and most either very fine ballet or contemporary dance companies (The Royal Danish Ballet where the phenomenal Eric Bruhn, Nureyev's lover, was based as first a dancer and later as Artistic Director, and the Dutch National Ballet in Amsterdam, with the excellent Nederlands Dans Theater just 45 minutes away in The Hague). All have several Museums, some superb - Rijksmuseum, Van Gogh Museum, Kunsthistorisches Museum, the Frank Gehry-redesigned Art Gallery of Toronto, and equally a variety of good to excelent restaurants. Many regularly host Broadway musicals. The main problem could be theatre since most theatre performances will be in the local language. Not much good if you don't speak German, for example, but then Frankfurt also has an English language theatre company. All this is "as boring as it gets"?? Certainly not in my book.2 points -

Very interesting! I met a guy (straight) in Pattaya last month ,66yo and newly retired to Pattaya last month . He looked at what life he had left in weeks, seemed to be "obsessive" about living each day as you can,of course it's great if you have the fitness and energy! Said he was aiming for 1040 week goal . Life goes fast,it really does , and I often wonder when I see work colleagues who are in their 70's why they are still working full time and wasting time?🙄 I bumped into a work colleague a few months ago who was 77 and still working, his wife was from Vietnam and the thing that struck me was he said to me with a smile ,"I will be retiring in a few years and going to live in Vietnam,we have a nice bungalow in a island over there" I looked at him stunned, how long does he think he has got in life, I honestly felt like saying to him why not go now,how long do you think you have left at 77? ?😳2 points -

P is due to visit soon. I haven't any fears about "showing" him to neighbours. Next door, one of two sons is gay (and cute!) and opposite live two women whose sexuality is no secret. But that's London for you! However, P was twenty-one when we met eighteen years ago. I'm not sure I'd be so relaxed if he were still so young. And I know he wouldn't be; it's something we've often discussed.1 point

Not in this case....at least, the twin had a wife and a daughter. But who knows? My generation is full of closet-dwellers. After all, I was forty-five before I had gay sex. One thing I've mentioned before is that I was struck , on my first visit to Pattaya where I met other men for whom gay sex had come late to their lives. Very late in the case of one guy, who was in his late seventies when his wife died. He came straight to Pattaya where I'd see him frequently walking through Boyztown, hand -in hand with a young Thai. I found it touching.1 point

Having had more than a dig at the USA in a recent thread, it's time I wrote a bit about my own country's major historical errors. One was colonialism which was at the time was thought of as Britain doing parts of the world a tremendous favour. Of course, it was nothing of the sort. It was purely for trade and bleeding countries of their natural resources. I was reminded of this yesterday when I received my copy of the magazine of Hong Kong's Foreign Correspondents' Club of which I remain a proud member. It contains a series of articles from those who remember the negotitions leading up to the events of June 30/July 1 1997 when Britain handed back Hong Kong to Chinese rule. The 25th anniversary of that event took place litle over a month ago. Why it took place was a result of one of the strange quirks of history. Having roundly beaten China's army in the first two Opium Wars, Britain and its opium traders forced China to hand over to it in perpetuity Hong Kong Island and then a large chunk of the Kowloon Peninsula. Later, following China's defeat in the Sino-Japanese War of 1894/5, Britain started gobbling up more of the Chinese mainland. It wanted to expand its holdings in Hong Kong. Accordingly it entered into negotiations for the rest of the Kowloon Peninsula and the much larger New Territories behind. Given that Britain then had the rest of Hong Kong in perpetuity, why did its negotiators, now in an extremely strong bargaining position, not insist that the New Territories also be handed over in perpetuity? Well, you can perhaps blame the Germans, for in April that country had negitiated a 99-year lease for a naval base in the Shandong Peninsula. A shorter lease had also been given to the Russians. So when it came time for British diplomats to negotiate Britain's terms, leases were the flavour of the month. So Britain went ahead and agreed a 99-year lease, no doubt never expecting this to cause any problems in the future. Fast forward to 1978. The businessmen who basically ran Hong Kong needed time to make good - often excessive - returns on their investments. With no idea what might happen 20 years later, many became nervous about further investment and made their feelings known to the Governor, Sir Murray Maclehose. In any case, by this time the New Territories was providing much of ever-growing Hong Kong's need for agricultural produce. Maclehose had spent time in the Embassy in Beijing, spoke fluent Mandarin and knew some of the leadership. He was to become the longest serving Governor of Hong Kong and one of the most respected of them all. He decided the time had come to raise the matter of the 1997 lease with the government in Beijing. So in early 1979 he made a visit to Beijing to meet with Deng Xiao-ping. On his return, Maclehose painted an upbeat picture - one, as I found out yesterday, he did not believe. He said that Deng had told him Hong Kong's investors should "put their hearts at ease," adding "it doesn't matter if the cat is black or white, as long as it catches the mouse." "Black" and "white" were interpreted as meaning "capitalist" and "communist". But Deng was deliberately being opaque. He, probably more than anyone else in Beijing at the time, wanted all of Hong Kong back. Britain's Margaret Thatcher arrived in Beijing to start formal negotiations. Maclehose had by this time retired and been replaced by another former civil servant with a vast knowledge of China and its leadership, Sir Edward Youde. Thatcher's position was made perfectly clear. Britain knew what was best for Hong Kong. Britain would not give back Hong Kong under any circumstances. When informed by Youde and her own advisers that Hong Kong could not survive on its own without the New Territories and without water, most of which was now being supplied through pipes from Guangdong Province, Thatcher's response was that she would moor large tankers in Hong Kong waters, these having been adapted to hold water instead of oil! Throughout, Thatcher's arguments were almost exclusively economic - how Hong Kong's continued prosperity under British rule would aid China as it developed its own economy. Before flying to Beijing, she insulted Deng by telling the world's media that the Chinese would have no clue how to run Hong Kong. Deng's arguments were equally simple. The Chinese had to right historical wrongs whatever the cost. Restating China's sovereignty over all of Hong Kong was more important than any economic argument. While Youde and the key figures in Thatcher's team understood the Chinese view, Thatcher never did - and she never wavered in her view. The one group left out of the negotiations were the people of Hong Kong. Until, that is, fear raised its spectre. Aware through leaks that the negotiations were at an impasse, Hong Kong people started to panic. Several senior Chinese who were members of the Governor's unoffical "cabinet" flew to London to warn Britain of impending disaster. They were totally ignored and humiliated. There was a run on banks and one major one collapsed before being taken over by what is now HSBC. The Hong Kong dollar slowly at first collapsed against the US$, at one time losing 10% of its value in one day. It was quickly pegged to the US$ at 7.8 and that peg has remained to this day. As we know, Thatcher was finally persuaded that she could never win. So she caved. Britain would hand over all of Hong Kong once the New Territories lease expired on June 30 1997. It has always been assumed that the wily, highly experienced Maclehose had been pleased as a result of his meeting with Deng in 1979. In the issue of the Foreign Correspondents' Club magazine I read last night, this was far from the truth. Then the Managing Editor of a news feature programme on Hong Kong's ATV, Susan Yu covered the handover. She writes - "I interviewed former Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher at the Mandarin Oriental. She was brimming with pride that Great Britain had done its utmost to secure the best for Hong Kong. But my interview with Hong Kong's longest-serving Governor, Lord Murray Maclehose [long after his retirement], struck a completely different tone. He was contemplative and subdued. He recalled with great clarity his 1979 meeting with Deng in Beijing . . . Maclehose [also] had a very dim view of Britain's highly politicised management of Hong Kong during its final days (when for the first time ever Britain under John Major placed a self-serving politician, Chris Patten, as Governor instead of a former civil servant as had always been the case in the previous 150 years). Although he was locally very popular, Patten did an enormous amount of harm to Hong Kong and its future under Chinese rule. It has even been reported that John Major, seeing all this, tried to recall him. Patten refused. "15 years later I bumped into a British former diplomat who had been a key member of Britain's 1997 negotiating team. I asked if he had any regrets. There was a long pause. With a deep sigh, he said, 'We could've done more. We should've done more.'" Sadly, while Hong Kong flourished for almost 15 years under Chinese rule, the events set in motion by Patten were merely simmering under the surface. When they finally exploded in 2014, Hong Kong's Chinese appointed leader had no idea how to handle them. Some years later President Xi had had enough. He broke international law and put his own people into Hong Kong. It is now a very changed city. And that has directy led to much greater complications for Taiwan.1 point

My heading is perhaps misleading, for I should not have included "One of". Throughout history, especially the history of the 20th century, Britain made a great many mistakes. Surely none is greater that the ignominy of its hasty and ill-thought out departure from India, the effects of which are still being felt in that country today. The issue should have been simple enough. When Britain took over rule in India from the failing British East india Company whose monopoly of trade on the sub-contnent had been broken in 1813, it regarded itself, as usual, as a moralising force. Even today there are those, mostly of the older generation, who talk of India almost with tears in their eyes. British administration made India work, they claim, and the creation of the huge Indian rail network is just one example of how it brought the country together. It was through no error that Britain's Queen Victoria was given the title Queen of the United Kingdom and Empress of India. * All that mumbo-jumbo aside, British rule was being undermined for much of the early 20th century as religious issues came to dominate the agenda. A former British civil servant had helped form an Indian Congress in 1885. This was to give educated Indians a platform in which they could take part in civil and political discussions. It never did much more than that until well into the 20th century when it became a movement primarily for all Hindu Indians. The Muslim commiunity had always regarded the Congress with suspicion. Even many Hindus felt similarly believing the Congress to particularly too pro-British. Soon the Hindus wanted a state of their own. Then the Muslims wanted a state they could call their own. Talks in the 1930s were largely cosmetic, until the then Governior General, Lord Linlithgow, declared India at war against Hitler on the side of the allies without his ever consulting any of the members of Congress or any other Indian. By the end of World War II, Britain was bankrupt and exhasted. It owed a huge debt to the USA which, being staunchly anti-colonial, was pressing Britain to give up her colonial Empire. In 1948 then Governor-General Viscount Wavell was replaced by the very bisexual (I know that's rather irrelevant but sometimes history needs to be spiced up a little!) Earl Mountbatten. At least he knew quite a bit about Asia having been the Supreme Alllied Commander in South East Asia during the War. A great grandson of Queen Victoria, he played up his royal connections to the hilt. But he knew his rule in Delhi was to be temporary. Britain's Prime Minister Clement Atlee had given him the brief that Britan was to get out of India within 16 months. He was also saddled with the instruction that there was to be no partition of India and ensure that Britain got out of the country with minimal reputational damage. He achieved neither. By all accounts, Mountbatten thoroughly enjoyed his time in India. While his wife was sleeping around, most notably with the man who was eventually to become India's First Prime Minister, Nehru, Louis was indulging in trysts with young Indian boys. In 1944 the FBI had opened its first file on the Mountbattens. It contains the sentence, "Lord Louis Mountbatten was known to be a homosexual with a perversion for young boys . . . he and his wife are considered persons of extremely low morals." An openly gay British MP Tom Driberg later claimed that "Mountbatten had a fetish for uniforms - handsome young men in military uniforms (and high boots) and beautiful boys in school uniform." What went on in his bedroom was as nothing compared to what was simmering outside, however. The Muslim leader Muhammed Ali Jinnah, a British educated barrister, had returned from London in the late 1930s and fired up the Muslim League to press for a separate Islamic State. By the end of the war, Mountbatten had two angry men tugging at his instructions, each demanding separate states. Finally Mountbatten saw no solution other than partition, precisely what London had instructed was not to happen. India was then a complicated country but the majority Muslim states were in the north-east and north-west. For some reason that is not only hard to fathom, it seems more than downright reckless, Mountbatten had a British barrister Sir Cyril Radcliffe sent from London and given 5 weeks to partition the country into two states. Radcliffe was a uniquely strange choice. He had never been to India and knew absolutely nothing about the country. He didn't want to go. When he got there, he loathed the heat, humdity, the people and the food. “Why? Oh, why was I chosen for this job?” was his constant refrain. His only desire was to get his job done fast and return to England. Yet he was not based in Delhi. He was up in the summer retreat of Shimla where the temperature hovered around a pleasant 20-22 degrees! He had no time to visit any of the territories he was arbitrarily cutting in two. Frankly, he did not really care. He finished the job two days short of the deadline. Thus the fate of many hundreds of millions of Indians - Hindus, Sikhs and Muslims - was sealed. Radcliffe had split the Punjab in the east and Bengal in the west allowing for two Pakistans and one India. His demarcation line had split villages in two, sometimes separating entire families. How and why did he make those decisions? No one now knows for he burnt all his papers before he left, refused to accept his £40,000 fee and returned to his home comforts of England. What had actually happened was one of the most humungous errors in British colonial history. The massacres started almost as soon as Radcliffe departed. Neighbours slaughtered neighbours on an unbelievable scale. Lifelong friends became bitter enemies. One of the largest migrations in human history started. More than half a million were slaughtereed and trainloads of dead travelled in each direction. Ironically it was Jinnah, who had insisted on the creation of Pakistan, who proved the loser. He had always insisted that Muslims were not welcome in India. Yet years after the partition, many millions of Muslims remained in India and became citizens of the new secular state. It was Jinnah's Muslim homeland that never settled. It could not be Muslim and embrace secularism. Within little more than 20 years, Pakistan had witnessed one major political assassination, two wars, seven Prime Ministers, one military coup and two martial-law administrators. Then in 1971 East Pakistan broke free and formed Bangladesh. In the resulting war, between 500,000 and 3 million were killed. Mountbatten's arbitrary decision to hand over the partition of colonial India to an ignorant British barrister with not the slightest knowledge of what he was doing was one of the ugliest and most disgraceful chapters in British history. Saddest of all, most all who were massacred as a result were innocent civilians.1 point

Well, I watched The Sandman over the weekend. Ehh... starts with a hot naked brooding twink, so it's got that going for it. But... I dunno, once that actor started talking (while still pouting) it lost something. No insight into the comics and it seemed well done and kinda interesting. Overall, meh, but I may watch a second season eventually. It's at least good to have supported something original.1 point

My observations from May trip are the same, it looks that , at least for currencies outside of great duo USD / EUR, booth by the railway station at Swampy weren't that competitive. Now I,m fan and big user of XONE on Suriwong close to Amara hotel.1 point

Only if taken the medication as prescribed and have been tested with undetectable few times (cant recall how many times in a row) that you would be clasify as undetectable, U. Then, yes, u wont be able to infect others with HIV. Many here have been on prep and my own experience, i started with daily prep and the first week, i got mild chills/fever, but thats it. The more serious side effect i believe is bone density and kidney impact, making every 3 month screening crucial on top of other STIs. Since covid, ive switched to on demand prep though, which save me some money, and if u are having side effects, this would be a better option, granted that your sexual activity isnt as active. Going this route wont force u to do the screening every 3 month though, as your supply will last longer, so u will need self motivation to go for your routine screening hehe.1 point

Barcelona 2022; Thermas, Hunqz
Mavica reacted to Frenchfrank for a topic
I popped in to Thermas last month. It was half an hour after opening. There were next to no other clients and about eight boys. I agreed 40e for a cute Puerto rican to fuck me. Such was his enthusiasm I told him 50e after a few minutes. Very happy punter.1 point -
Day 10 For breakfast in Complex I have favorite place , French restaurant in the corner opposite Soda massage so that is where we went. They bake baguettes on the site and I saw few people coming and buying them by the dozen. Certainly better than toast. I had regular America breakfast buy Nara ordered some exciting for me dish – duck leg confit. Duck is my favorite meat and at home Sunday’s dinner staple. So that had me already planning lunch together for tomorrow at the same place I told him. For today I plan to stay in Pattaya proper to consume unexpected reunion with Suwit so after breakfast he went to the gym and I returned to Copa to pack and move to Classrooms in the next soi. Girl on reception recalled me from previous stays or at least pretended to based on record they must have in their computer. Room , king bed with balcony was not ready yet so I left luggage with her and went few steps to Paradise where Suwit met me with condemning look which did not stop me from ordering 1 ½ hr massage and his is a good one. Of course he threw again Casanova slur at me but softened the blow by calling me ‘ my Casanova’, that’s something !. Such claim earned him confirmation that I will take him home tonight and not knowing what future brings I asked him to wait for me. Then returned to Classrooms , room was ready , very spacious and comfortable as all rooms there and after basically sleepless night and that massage I felt bit dizzy so made myself a tea and collapsed on the bed for a life restoring nap. In the afternoon I went to exchange money, then to Das Berliner for a schnitzel. Dining alone I felt presence of biguyby our member with whom I dined there several times and who in fact introduced that place to me. Since I left Bangkok I have problem accessing my e-mail on the smartphone for some reason so I went to internet café in soi Post Office but it was closed already so I went to another one just past TukCom . She was almost closing too but promised me at least 10 minutes which suited me well enough. Next stop was to return to Boyztown and park myself at Pickety, host bar opposite BBB, beside Casto , in the place where Oscar used to be. One of their guys was very interesting but unfortunately he was already engaged serving farang and his entourage of 4 guys so I invited another one , quite good looking too who did not waste any time and asked me to go to my room tonight but unfortunately I had already Suwit booked so disappointed him a bit. At one point I thought Chinese tours returned but it turned out to be group, judging by dress , well heeled Vietnamese of both genders who came to see Castro show. They were greeted with quite a reverence by their stuff including performers. Tonight I had plans to see XBoys so at 9.30 I paid my bill, tipped my guy 200 for sitting and entertaining me for good hour if not two and went to Pattayaland soi 1 where Xboys are but there things got derailed. In front of Dreamboys opposite was standing A, former XBoys guy and show performer whom I offed LT three years ago. He remembered me and that off was to Classrooms hotel so I changed my plans and accepted his invitation to go to Dreamboys. I did not even go inside when I notice that at door standing and smiling at me is Soviet, old Cambodian acquaintance with whom I was sitting in Dramboys perhaps 5 years ago, then had massage with him at Royal House and after long hiatus last December we got reunited when I got drunk partying at Sabaidee in BKK and guys there tasked him with escorting me to hotel, where he accepted my invitation to stay for the night. I still recall waking up , half sober only to see naked guy sleeping beside, most likely his easiest LT ever even if we had some fun in the morning. So another unexpected reunion. I invited both of A and Soviet for a drink and as soon as we sat down , me being only customer inside, whom I see in the scene ?. R, one of two friends I was so impressed with two days ago in BBB and who it looks is moonlighting in Dreamboys as well. So fourth drink was ordered and it become dense around me which I enjoyed quite a bit as none of boys was too shy and A is champion kisser. And it was only start as few minutes later P, another of the pair from BBB showed up , another moonlighter there, next Chang on the table and we have fun. In meantime bar started filling up , from time to time guys went to the stage as I warned them loyally I had guy for tonight so they don’t have a chance for an off from me. I noticed one guy who was quite handsome and pointed him to R sitting beside me only to learn that it’s B, P’s brother. What? Call him over. I felt like emperor with court of 5 guys , one more handsome than another. So I ordered second round of Changs, told them it’s the last. We or at least certainly me had great time, sure it cost some money , 11 drinks plus each got 200 tip but it was money extremely well spent. Hugs , kisses and post 11 p.m. I left them certainly disappointed but I have my duties tonight. Suwit was waiting for me in front of Paradise, was not hungry, I had beer in the fridge so of we went to the room right away not noticed by anybody as entry to Classrooms is very discreet , separate card operated door. Good part of night we spent chatting and beering, not exactly dressed . At one point Suwit went to balcony to smoke completely naked and he did not care if he is seen or not. With good body like his he can afford such exhibition. In the dark part was quite energetic, morning exercises lively and then to eternal shame I passed a bit of wind, not particularly fragrant or loud but Suwit not missing the beat commented “ another boyfriend is calling you”. I love the guy ! Such was the end of day 10 and it means at some point past noon today it will be half mark of my trip, no wonder I lost wind control.1 point

Day 9 When he left I felt like not sleeping even if it was only dawning so kept myself busy in the room with trip chores but biology can’t be cheated much and at 8 went to bed again to sleep till well past 10 am. For breakfast I went to Salt and Pepper since I like restaurant and proprietor even if it was a bit of walk. Then I made round through central Pattaya and coming back to Copa by soi 2 in front of Paradise Spa, just beside former Happy Place I noticed guy standing and smiling at me. “Do you remember me ? “ he asked , “of course Suwit , I do” said I. He was one of my heroes of Aug 2019 trip chalking off 3 long times in row , obviously returning to his old workplace. Never saw him after and I was very happy with that unexpected reunion. I couldn’t engage him today but promised to come for massage tomorrow and also secured long time with him for tomorrow’s night. It turned out that he saw me marching to restaurant with 3 guys last night so was kind on watch out for me today. While walking around I took fancy to find good looking guy on Grindr and invited him to my room accepting his request for 1300 consideration. That was reason I couldn’t spent more time with Suwit. He showed up on time but honestly , second day in row I had Grindr guy and second time I don’t remember almost anything from our encounter. My notes are saying that he had great body but I did not like his childish behavior and probably was not pinched so much in my entire life. So those cheap encounters have bit useless side for me if they are not leaving any memories. After he left I felt hungry , on my way to Bay View restaurant on Bitch (spelling ?) Road I invited Suwit sitting in front of his shop to join me if only to land myself in trouble as he somehow knew or guessed rightly that I just met a guy and condemned me by saying ‘ you Casanova , you” . Tonight I was planning to spent a night in Jomtien complex and taking advantage of cheap rates before I left home I rented room in The Venue just in case to avoid late night trips. So went there by baht bus stopped on Beach Rd , leaving my things in Copa and on arrival went to 7/11 to buy two toothbrushes, toothpaste and a soap ( I don’t like those liquid garbages). Then went to see Nara, hero of 5 LT offs in December to report I’m here which he already knew because he spied me on the Grindr and secured his Long Time presence tonight. Now you know what second toothbrush was for. Told him to wait for me and promised if later he will be busy with client I wait for him. Gave him 100 baht to buy himself something to eat, slipped the same into jeans of another guy there who was smiling at me and whose face I recognized from Grindr. For now I went to @home bar where soon after aussie_ was supposed to arrive and in fact minute or wo after I sat down I saw him approaching. So we spent next hour or two exchanging news, drinking beer , admiring boys and observing traffic in the lane. It was fairly busy in the Complex tonight. Before 11 we waved good bye till next time, aussie went his way and I went to Nara’s shop to pay 300 off fee and take him with me via 7/11 as he wanted some snacks. Nara is known quality so we had quite passionate time together but managed to catch some sleep as well, morning round ended my day 9 on happy but bit exhausted note as sleeping with him is usually busy affair.1 point

Day 8 After collecting their fee we went to world famous for breakfast and soon their friend happened to pass by seeing them through the window so I asked him to join us too. Returned to hotel to pack mindful that I need to release room at 12 but at 10 I will have guest – that guy who crossed red light to my condemning look yesterday at Lumpini. He was on the dot. Tall and handsome but most of that charm disappeared when he removed the mask. In short , in mask he looked much , much better. Very unremarkable short time, in fact I don’t recall anything at all so here I’m , 1500 spent and nothing to show for it other than fun story of guy correctly connecting the dots. Soon after our 1 ½ hr. was over I left rolling my suitcase to Chong Nonsi. In airport I had enough time to treat myself with mango with sticky rice for 50 baht and soon I was on the Jomtien bus. In 4 hrs. door to door I was reporting at Copa. After excitements of yesterday and last night I had urge for a nap and only after dart at 7 pm I left my room heading to Salt and Pepper behind the Tukcom for my chicken with cashew nuts. Returned to Boyztown via almost deserted Sunee Plaza, leaving for another time invitation to step in Nice Boys. In front of BBB I noticed good looking , muscly and tall guy who immediately sensed my interest and started business negotiations right away. By time his and mine drinks arrived we already agreed on long time and a fee and that we will go to my room only after the show. While well built Lao boy, face was bit ordinary but I liked his energy and thought night appears to be promising not even having idea what will be next. Since I wanted to see show he suggested we take our drinks and go inside where on the stage about two dozen guys , fully dressed, were presenting themselves. I noticed pair, one bit cherubic , other more hooliganish . Not only they were attractive looking but from their interaction I sensed they must be very close friends. I liked it, can’t even say why but clearly I was drawn to them so told my Lao boy and mamasan standing beside to call both over for a drink. P and R , both Cambodians, just started recently . P, cherubic one from the distance , up close looked actually very, very handsome. But as I said it was not their looks but way they interact with each other which brought them to my attention and a table. I don’t recall who, me , Lao or mamasan came with idea of me taking them three but it was taken very well by guys specially Lao and R , one more rough of two. So after show I was presented with hefty bill, 3 off fees, 2 inside and 2 outside drinks , it was if I recall 2600 and off we went. As is my habit I asked if they want to eat, yes and Lao lead us to Metal Tables restaurant on 2nd rd on the way informing / not asking mind you , informing / that his sister will be joining us and soon she arrived, turned out she is bar girl too. Lao was very bossy type and not one who picks cheapest dishes , after were were done whatever was left he ordered to pack and handed over to his sister to my great relief as for a while I was afraid he will invite her to my room too ( P and R would like it for sure). But his body was great so I bear with those antics even if food bill was on quite high side which I did not mind as much as fact that he ordered way too much food clearly with idea to feed his sister at my expense. In the room there was no doubt who is the boss, Lao again telling boys what to do and kind of neglecting me but I have fun joining wherever I could, LOL. Eventually we split in two , Lao and Rh being more energetic and shameless , P and me more shy and romantic, he, he . Fact that I have executive room with bed and sofa helped a bit too. After fire was extinguished, Cambodian boys and as it turned out, close friends indeed so my instinct was right, collected their 1500 each and left leaving me at Lao mercy he thought , but this time I showed who is in charge and he relented, LOL. Very promising guy despite antics as body close to ideal but he spoiled whole experience just before dawn asking if he can go inventing some roommate moving out story. This is not what I understand by long time but eventually impatient with his wailing gave him his fee and let him go firmly noting “ no repeat “, great body or not - as such antics is thing I hate the most. So day 8 ended on a bit upset note for me.1 point

Day 7 Rain in the morning, V left at 9 skipped breakfast this time so I went to Foodland alone. I feel lazy today so did some stroll around Lumpini and then returned to hotel to be busy doing nothing till about 2 pm. Returning from Lumpini and waiting for green light I noticed handsome guy in mask crossing the street on red light, looked cursory at him with condemnation of such recklessness and since he was handsome I even followed him with my eyes as he walked away. Few hours later I’m getting message on Grindr ‘ I saw you today in Lumpini” . WTF thought I , who it can be and then got moment of enlightenment “:are you guy who crossed red light ?”, ‘yes, can I see you ? ” . I was impressed by his gaydar , he looked good anyways and we agreed to meet tomorrow morning. Why not today ? In the morning I got a Line from X asking if I need him today, hell sure I do , come at 2 ok ? he agreed. Then all of the sudden Christmas dawned on me as one of my forum friends sent me a Jupiter clip showing no one else but Handsome Cambodian, guy I’m in secret, although one sided love ever since I saw him first time few years ago exercising in front of BBB in Boyztown. From clip it was obvious that he retuned to the bar after Covid break so immediately I’m on mission tonight – go to Jupiter and off him if only he will want to go with me because as I said I have feeling love is one sided , LOL. We will call him HC in this report. That made me excited and extremely happy at the same time. At 2 X showed up as arranged in the morning . He felt bit lazy too and was not in rush at all so I could enjoy his presence for next 3 hours knowing that it will be a while before I can see him again since I’m going to Pattaya tomorrow. Seems I can’t have enough the guy being eternally grateful to 18past 19 who helped in December to arrange our first meeting . Before him I think I felt so good only in presence of One from Screwboys and M from Senso. Truly quasi boyfriend experience and even if I know is all fake still feels very good. Not love but enormous soothing comfort. X did not feel like eating so I went to G’Bangkok myself, had my feed and then , no doubt directed by Guardian Angel instead of leaving soi immediately I decided so take stroll up and down the soi. In one of bars whom I see? HC himself, unfortunately in presence of some client sporting winning smile which I read as “ I got your boy , you lick the wounds” . What surprised me, HC recognized me immediately even if we meet really only once and that was for short time only. On another hand he had some reason to remember and recall me and thrilled me when he thanked for that. He seemed happy to see me which made my day already but explained that he won’t be available until tomorrow. I told him I’m going to Pattaya tomorrow and will see him in 5 days. “ Let me know when you need me” said him placing me in cloud 7. I felt like teenager meeting his first date. So to HotMale to say good bye to paulsf I did not walk but I flew on that cloud so happy, happy. Paul is not leaving yet but since I’m going to Pattaya by time I ‘ll be back he will be on his way home. Soon anddy joined us and of course tiny Lao boy accompany me all that time. At 10.30 we decided to go upstairs to see the show, Lao asked if he can go with me, of course and up we went. Surprisingly HC and his customer were sitting in the corner and upon seeing me HC came for a moment to thank me again and ask to see hi when I will be back. One of the boys on stage was muscular T whom I offed along with Myanmarese guy for 3 some in Dec, as soon as he smiled at me I called him over. Yes he remembered that debauchery, Myanmarese guy is working in Moonlight now but he said we can take somebody else if I want repeat. Great idea, my first thought was Lao but he declined telling me he is shy to go with guy he knows ,from the same bar. T , keen on business suggested two other guys , I liked one twinky with temple tattoo and tasked T with obtaining his agreement. It took few seconds of conversation between them before he looked at me and smiled broadly so I called him over ( mind you I have three boys sitting with me now ). Both N, new arrival and T confirmed that they will stay till morning and after the show I tipped Lao for his troubles and took my boys out to applause of their bar friends. We stopped for a dinner at world famous and then went to Baan Silom where night guard did not seem keen on letting two guy in but I promised him a tip and he yielded. Stupid me , I should tip him just in case on my first night. In the room I treated them with beer, T is very talkative , N more reserved with limited English but seemed nice boy. It looked that he just started recently and was very happy with an off. I let them to have fun first before exercising my own rights. Judging by mood in the morning all three of us were happy campers ,ending with happy smiles day 7 of my trip. V, X, HC, T and N, it looks like I run through half alphabet today but great day it was not only because unexpected quasi reunion with HC, in fact all other 4 guys were above average today.1 point

I do, I'm not flying that far to grumble or even worse , to look at every baht under the light before is spent. Every new off is both risk and opportunity but it's better to risk disappointment than be sorry we missed the boat. Flying in I had a moment when I thought those long flights are no longer for me so day may come, hopefully in 20, 30 years, when I'll say no more ( we met so you know I'm not quite spring chicken ), fortunately not yet. Yes I spent a lot on guys but as I noted before, out of 14 counts I paid over market , I was extremely happy with 10, and quite very happy with other 4. Some readers may be shocked with such a waste but 28000 (14*2000) is bit above 800 USD, how many long times with hunks I get for that in New York or London ? 1 1/2 ? Surprisingly perhaps, I see wasting or rather overspending money with room for substantial savings somewhere else as I have habit of inviting my guys for meals on both ends of off and orders some of them are placing would warrant restraining order. But somehow I like those meals, if only I can look at their faces and bodies in full light, LOL Sure it experiences that count, screw the money ! It's almost 7 years since I asked certain Tiger from Tawan to hug me strong in my Raya room 7 , I swear I still feel sometimes that massive closeness. ( no he did not break me anything you jokesters there ) and I'm sure in 7 years I'll still recall pleasure of soaping K in Tarntawan's bathtub. My mother used to instruct us '' if you don't have money to go to restaurant or for vacation, don't go until you have enough because you will feel bad looking at menu or admission price you can't afford." Not a bad advise, no? Beauty of Thailand is that it's still easily affordable country , transport and food are inexpensive and eye candy is for free everywhere and if one can discipline himself to numbers of bars is visiting , drinks gulped and guys offed , vacations there can be still both pleasant and cheap. And with bit of luck our neighbor in hotel may turn to be affordable hook up for the night as my previous night experience attests.1 point

I am hugely impressed; you seem to be enjoying each day to the full, taking risks, taking opportunities, and with rewarding experiences. In years to come when you look back on your trips, it is the those experiences you will remember, not how much you paid for them.1 point

Day 6 As I mentioned before for few days guy from Grindr is sending me question ‘ do you want massage?”. He doesn’t have nick but headless photo of his body is enticing , he confirmed that it’s his so I decided, encouraged no doubt by Guardian Angel to take a chance on him. Early massage , at 10.30 he knocked to my room and right away I knew Angel was involved since we hit it right away. Handsome, rather athletic than muscular, talkative in good English, soon it turned out his massage is superb and it seems the he likes me. Wow, considering age and looks difference. In short , gem, thank you Angel . We exchanged Line, where he uses Besty nick. He said he is more tennis instructor and partner than massage freelancer. Fee very modest at 1500 and he was not in rush to go at all. No doubt we will meet him again. Unfortunately not keen on long time at all, it always be must be that something. If he were , chance are this trip would look quite different. Yes , he threw at me that KFC insult but is forgiven before he even opened mouth Energized I walked a bit around the Silom and Patpong , exchanged money in XONE on Suriwong, passed through Silom market in soi 8 but did not go too far because in meantime X lined me if I’m interested to see him again today. Money be damned , answer was yessssssssssssss ! He showed up at 3 pm. And I had more fun than last night even, worth every satang even if we are talking a lot of satangs here. Funny thing , worth more scientific research , he turned out to be ticklish in few places where for sure he was not last night? Imagine wrestling such a hunk just to make sure he is ticklish indeed. After good 2.5 hrs we got hungry and went to G’Bangkok , soi 4 for a dinner . With our table outside it was very obvious he is head turner, even proprietor noticed it and whispered “ where you got that guy ? Interestingly he opted for typical German fare, sausage with something and he liked it , mentioning that even week after as our 2nd meeting was definitely the last. After dinner we parted ways. I decided to take circular way to soi 3 but at corner of Suriwong and soi 6 it started raining. How not to get wet in absence of umbrella ? There are two solutions, cheap and pleasant. Cheap- to buy umbrella at 7/11 was dismissed as wasteful spending and I opted to take massage in Tawan around the corner. I was expecting M from my day 1 but it turned out he is not there but Ten is on duty. Ten is real bodybuilder, not a shrinking violet at all. For those attending show at Tawan he is one making candle show. I was prepared for serious mutilation considering substantial body mass at his disposal but massage turned out to be very skillful, no need to say energetic. And fun as he is quite talkative , knew that I had massage with M and offed two boys from Tawan already so if we think we are anonymous shadows , better not to be naïve. By time we were done rain was over but not before he threw KFC insult, my 2nd such humiliation today at price of 500 for massage and 1500 tip. Three fantastic encounters so far made me happy and thirsty for more so instead going to hotel I continued walking and on Silom in mouth of soi 2 there was another hunk distributing Paradise massage leaflets so I said to myself see what happens. This time not much, while body was great and kind of accessible even if he is straight and proudly showed me picture of his daughter, massage was bit cursory and so were afters. Cost and tip the same like in Tawan but only memorable part was third today KFC insult and few minutes after when I was paying massage fee at reception , fourth. I need to find hardware shop , buy some rope and hang myself thought I in meantime grinning semi happily thinking what bar should be in my rotation tonight since I did not visit Freshboys, Hot Male nor Dreamboys this trip yet. Freshboys it is, twink kingdom but I’m not dogmatic, try to visit every bar at least once per trip even if twinks don’t to much for me sometimes for a change I’m not adverse to hiring them as well. Moth mamasans , one of them former Screwboys one recognized me with smile. Entry well timed – big C show, 6 or 7 participants started circulating among audience so red notes were wrapped around two of their appendages. Then even more heat with f…k show , top very interesting , one of those I tipped , bottom not so much but again two reds changed hands when they come up close to show they are not faking whole thing. Former Screwboy mamasan still remembered that I liked One boy many years ago, perhaps my best boy ever who left the scene long time ago but I still smile at his memory. No doubt she will remember next time as I slipped her another redie to prevent dementia. Asked about Screwboys reopening but ‘may be fall ‘ answer. Even in that twink galore I could find 2-3 guys I could off, top from f..k show definitely and not because his thing but because I like his face of aspiring hooligan and he is quite muscular too , at least for that bar’s standards. Somehow I realized that such great day must be crowned without any surprises so I lined V if he can come to see my stam collection and answer was immediate –‘where you are’ . Explained I will be at Baan Silom’s gate in 6 minutes I went back home only to see V already waiting for me there. As it turned out later he lives around the corner . we went to 7/11 right there to buy some supplies and when leaving who emerged from hotel ? My neighbor and last night companion, Grindr guy. We smiled at each other knowingly. It crossed my mind to use that opportunity for 3-some but pass it and keeping quiet was good thing because as soon as he went his way V whispered that he did not like that guy, too feminine he said and for sure clean shaven like girl. While he was incorrect on first assumption in my opinion, he was spot on on second part . V never disappoints and endeared himself even more by NOT calling me KFC man. Great conclusion to day 6, busy and fun filled, treasury destroying day1 point

Not Another New Virus!
splinter1949 reacted to PeterRS for a topic
A report in today's Guardian newspaper reveals that another virus which has spread from animals to humans has been identified in China. "The novel Langya henipavirus (LayV) was first detected in the north-eastern provinces of Shandong and Henan in late 2018 but was only formally identified by scientists last week . . . Initial investigations into the virus were outlined in correspondence published by scientists from China, Singapore and Australia in the New England Journal of Medicine (NEJM) last week. "There have been no deaths from LayV to date. Prof Wang Linfa of the Duke-NUS Medical School, a co-author of the NEJM paper, told the state-run Global Times that the LayV cases had 'not been fatal or very serious' so far and that there was 'no need for panic'. . . . Infectious diseases experts have long warned that the climate crisis and the destruction of nature will increase the risk of viruses being transmitted from animals to humans, in events known as 'zoonotic spillovers'”. https://www.theguardian.com/science/2022/aug/10/newly-identified-langya-virus-tracked-after-china-reports-dozens-of-cases0 points
