  1. I've heard gay men my age express concern about being seen with a younger man in a restaurant in Bangkok. If there's any place on earth where this more of a non-issue, I'm not aware of it. I frequently offer to take a guy out to eat and I can't recall the last one who declined the offer. I've come to look at this way: if I'm not at peace with my sexuality now, how many more years will I have to wait before I am.

  2. The well-known shopping district Siam Square went through a major facelift, now a lively walking street free of overhead cables. The area now serves as the city's latest shopping and recreational space, featuring live performances from various performers. Let’s take a look at this report.

  3. I think I have been fortunate. In the UK I lived in a small cul de sac of probably 20 houses mostly occupied by retired people. After I had met my partner while I was on holiday in Hua Hin and visited him three or four times I invited him to stay with me in England for three months, at the time I was 63 and he would be 27/28. Probably a little to my surprise my neighbours were very friendly and would invite him into their homes when I was at work, a couple of years later we had a UK Civil Partnership and one of the neighbours brought across a wedding cake they had baked. It certainly helped that my partner has a very open smile and responds quickly if he feels people like him.

  4. Today I went to a sexual health clinic, which was Government run here in Australia so no fee involved. I had originally planned on seeing just a private GP at a medical centre but a poster mentioned on here about sexual health clinics in Australia so thought I would ring my local one this morning. They quizzed me so much first on the phone as they said they had a certain maximum qouta and some patients they refer to their GP . On hearing my answers how I had been in Asia the last 2 Months etc I was top of the list for a appointment. On arrival I was given a rapid antigen test , negative and sit in the waiting room , unfortunately there was 2 screeching Thai ladyboys in there as well one wearing a school dress mini skirt,I imagine they were ,"working boys " to put it nicely. Anyway 5 minute wait and the doctor calls me in , I told him of my throat being sore after sucking around 50 cocks in Asia the last few months He was fantastic and I whilst I was embarrassed I imagine he sees patients like me all day. He said I will test you for everything, With my throat he done a swab test where they use a swab and run it around the mouth ,I think and I can't remember but I think it was for chlamydia? Does that test for HPV too? The next one I had to go into the toilet and ram a swab up my bum 3cm and put it into a tube , problem is , 😅I got a little excited and...it went further than the 3cm...and...omg..broke off 🤨so had the get the doctor,(so embarrassed) to take the swab out ! I'm not sure what the anal swab test is for ,he did mention it but I was embarrassed so wasn't listening. Next was a blood test I guess for HIV ,and then a feel test looking at the testes and the areas on the side under your balls , All in about 20 minutes and results in a few days He kept encouraging me to go on PREP , bottom guys are higher risk he said But one thing he mentioned to me is...which I was surprised to know...is if someone is on medication for HIV they cannot ...cannot pass the virus onto you !!! I had no idea of that ! Guys I think it's important when we get old to have these medical tests, and I'm not only talking about sexual tests, but prostate tests as well . A lot of us wait until we get symptoms before we go for medicao tests, whether that be because we get lazy or even financial reasons if there's a cost involved. I think the next one will be a prostate test 😂😂with the glove finger, but seriously I think a yearly PSA& Full blood count test yearly is the least you should do . Of course colonoscopy every 5 years or so if you have a history of bowel cancer, other than that well life's a risk I guess

    Why not retire to Thailand?

Straight old guy seeing with a young girl are also frowned upon in many places. Disparity of age will always gets the stares. Life is too short to bother about them though. In the end, what did they do to even deserve our attention?

  6. I go out to restaurants with my 2 guys all the time and don't give it much thought, even though I know some people - especially farang customers- probably look down on me. But I don't pay them any attention. I do remember the owner of a Thai restaurant in Central Festival giving us a hard time. We never returned. What I can't stand is being in a lift with straight people who do not try to hide their distain. I feel trapped. I find this situation occurred from time to time when the Ambiance decided to open up to straight people. On the baht bus in Pattaya my guy and I sit apart and ignore each other. I think he would feel uncomfortable being stared at by the locals in the confines of the bus. Walking around the streets of Pattaya with my guy is not a problem, although one evening as we were walking back from Sunee one of the baht bus touts on Second Street said something to my guy and called out "You boom boom him tonight!" so that everyone could hear. As it was said in a disparaging way and intended to embarrass me I walked up to him and said :" Yes. Boom boom. One hour I give him 2000 baht. Good for him, eh"? The smirk quickly disappeared from his face.

  7. Farang friend and I both got Descovy at the pulse prep clinic in Silom back in January Made us both nauseous as hell and both had to discontinue (I caught Covid at the same time so this was another reason to discontinue) I tried it again in April and has the exact same effect. After 7 days I was forced to give up.

  10. Regarding on-demand HIV PrEP and refills, at least in Canada. Pharmacies will not issue a new supply if 90 days has elapsed from the previous dispensing. For example, if you fill a 30-day supply on Sept 1st and use it sparingly over 3 months but run out and wish a new supply you must provide proof of a recent negative test if you wish to receive a new bottle following Nov 30th. It is possible to work around it. For example, if you are willing to pay for 3 months at once, receiving 90 tablets that might last you a year, you would need to arrange testing that makes sense for your own peace of mind because the pharmacy would only require the negative test when you try to obtain a new supply a year later. PrEP is not at all a good treatment option for anybody HIV-infected whether they are aware of having HIV or not. Pharmacies here are able to access your test results on their computer systems, at least in Quebec. I don’t bother to check for possible renal toxicity because I consume PrEP on-demand and so infrequently. I am often tossing out unused expired tenofovir/emtricitabine tablets. Kidney problems would likely be flagged in my annual medical exam unrelated to PrEP.

  11. We walked past those baht buses every night, so the touts knew he was a money boy. Mind you, I was one of many older farang with a young guy in tow who walked back and forth between Sunee and Boyztown. But over the years there was only this one arsehole who couldn't resist commenting. He never commented again.

  12. Yes same as Thai airways Flight attendants and Singapore they were nice .❤️ Worst ones for me were Malaysian Airlines and British Airways , some older nasty women, 😠but I do understand it must be a very difficult job dealing with some people having to "act" nice especially to rude passengers ,I could never do it 😅 I probably end up getting fired the first day!😂

  13. It has been good for me. They do a blood test to check for liver function the first time, then every 6-12 months after that. AU$30 for 30 tablets available at any chemist in Aus with a prescription. The on-demand method is an option for times when you're less sexually active, 2 tablets at least 2 hours before sex then continue with 1 tablet a day for at least the next 2 days. When I travel or at times when I am very sexually active I just take one tablet daily, starting a week before and ending a week after. The only side effect I've ever had is an upset stomach on the 2nd or 3rd day of taking it for the first time, other than that no problems.

  14. As a newbie, in olden times, I was diffident being seen in a MB's company. When I offed a guy, I whisked him into Ambiance or wherever as fast as I could. After years of this, I met P and recall taking him to Tuc Com to buy a phone- yes, yes, I know that's a cliché- and suddenly realised that it was the first time I'd ventured out of Boyztown with a companion. Now I don't give a d**n, whether it be Thailand, Laos, Bali and (I hope) London soon. But the memory of that couple on the Phi Phi trip still vexes me. And P as well, who'd been looking forward to that day for a long time.

  15. Yes. And it is not only premium alcohol brands. It offers substantial snacks for those who don't want a meal. Qatar also has a bar at the back of its A380 biz class. But it is smaller, not as good and there is economy seating behind it. Emirates only has the galley behind its bar. This is the Emirates window seat in the upright position. And part of the bar at the back - and this the window side Q suite layout on Qatar's 777s. I find the Emirates window seats just as good as QR's Q suites if you take a Q suite backward facing window seat. One plus is QR offering four main courses for most of its long-haul flights and then serving meals at the time of your choosing. Unlike Emirates which plonks most of the meal on one tray, QR serves course by course.

    Report from Medellin

There is a group of 10-12 young people that do choreographed dance routines throughout Parque Lleras and Calle 10. You will see them practicing their routines for hours in the Parque Poblado (Calle 10 and Cra 43A -- seen in your photo with the white tents) where they master some very impressive acrobatics and dance moves. They will often perform at red light breaks on Calle 10 (the main street) and along Parque Lleras. They always made me smile when they would perform in front of Donde Aquellos and make a point of the most muscular guys stripping their shirts off. Once I got a routine in their boxers. Often while enjoying my evening scotch. I was part of just a handful of patrons in the audience. If you can, tip them well as many of them are street kids (Venezuelans mostly) who subside on very little and this is how they pay their way. Even 25K COP buys a lot of samosas. ¡Disfrútate mucho!

  22. The comforts of sitting 'up front' are really nice, but I get from point A to B just as fast in an economy aisle seat for a thousand bucks less. But I spend maybe half of that by going a day early, find a gorgeous, comfy 5* hotel, have a great relaxing massage, an exquisite meal in a Michelin starred restaurant and then sleep off my jet lag for 10-12 hours. The other half I then use for half a dozen offs during the week. In MY mind I come out way ahead.

  23. Oh dear-and only now I see this-you should have posted it separately announcing as re-start. But again many thanks for your truely enjoyable reports. K-man reminded me of a by now very old K-Male-way further up -somewhere at the back side of old Don Muang airport-for me this one remains the nr 1***** of all BKKś massage shops. Though at that time it was before the apps: you went there and saw the guys (in the start they had a kind of dry ´aquarium´ -but that was soon done away with) and choose. After 1 session the guy advised me I should come same time next week and ask for X- (have you ever heard such a thing?)- and he was 111% right-X became my favorite still of all Thai guys-we kept contact till he left UNI and is now running (or was) as setting up coffee and later juice/vegan shops. Judging from your map&description I got the feeling that this K-man was a re-incarnation of a shop that moved to there from Pradipat road-had to move as it was in a hotel-compound which went down and raized to the ground. For a long while they mostly had kind of hilltribe guys from a mixed Thai-Burmese origin. I bet your masseur had never encountered a white client before-hence his hesitations. On another subject: the story by numazu went about things for boxers: well, in TH -but any bozer guy would know that- these are clustered around the boxing stadiums-there used to be dozens of them in between Siam square and MBK. But the stadium has moved also to way out suburbia

  26. According to K-Bank website, the booth near City Line Train open 0700 to 2300. There's another location in arrivals area reportedly open 24/7. The booth near train once offered good exchange rate but when I checked it on way out a month ago, the rate was very non-competitive with rates in the city.

  27. Any country you visit or live in has some of the people you seem so very concerned about. I live my life, and partake in my entertainment, for me ... not to please others. Of course there may be situations, worldwide, where we find ourselves in danger because of an outward expression of affection when in public. I confine romantic expressions to places where I can be private. I don't care what someone else thinks.

    Vaccines in Asia

From Coconuts Bangkok Don’t close free vaccine clinic in downtown Bangkok Business groups and an association advocating for Americans have asked the Disease Control Department to reconsider the closure of a conveniently located vaccination center next month. The Americans in Thailand Association petitioned the department to continue operating the free vaccination clinic on Sathorn Road at the Bang Rak Medical Center where COVID-19 shots and boosters have been readily available for the past 15 months. “The association disagrees with its closure as Thais and foreigners will have more difficult access to vaccines,” the letter urged disease control chief Opas Karnkawinpong in its letter, a copy of which was shared today with Coconuts. “Moreover, the Department of Disease Control will lose opportunities and achievements accumulated as well as losing one of the best measures to deal with the emergency epidemic situation that still can happen at any time.” “Last year we were seeing 500 patients a day,” said a representative for the center who declined to give her name. “Now we receive about 100. Sometimes it’s only 50.” Located near BTS Saint Louis in the Bang Rak Medical Center, the clinic opened May 2021. Free appointments could be made within minutes, but the online system was no longer available as of Monday.

  29. My biggest disappointment is that Britain never levied any real cost to the CCP for breaking the 50 year agreement. Lenin never understood human nature but the darker side of capitalism he knew extremely well when he said "The capitalists will sell us the rope of which we'll hang them."

  30. My last flight with Thai Airway was in 2019. BKK to Frankfurt business class on a very old/worn A350 plane, dirty/soiled/worn seats. Awful food: beef steak meat quality was bad, salmon fish was dry and overcooked. They have Thai main course, but I am not a fan of Thai food. Anyway, my biggest complaint was the dirty seat. FA was just OK. I will avoid TG if I can find alternatives.

  31. Almost every type and all premium brands. As good is their champagne, wine and dessert wine selection. The airport at Doha has a large duty free alcohol section but I have never checked prices. The Doha business class lounge is huge with three restaurants and other casual eateries. Again virtually all types of alcohol are served.

  33. Interesting the important issue Londoner raises with taking a younger guy into the straight world and getting bad vibes etc from straights esp Karen types. Anyone got any ideas how to handle this? I suppose just adopting the attitude not to care less what others think but easier said than done. Seems unfair that straights can come to our scene such as Soi 4 in Bangkok and no problem; but try bringing a gay boy with you to a straight dominated area and things are different...or am I being too sensitive?

  34. Only if taken the medication as prescribed and have been tested with undetectable few times (cant recall how many times in a row) that you would be clasify as undetectable, U. Then, yes, u wont be able to infect others with HIV. Many here have been on prep and my own experience, i started with daily prep and the first week, i got mild chills/fever, but thats it. The more serious side effect i believe is bone density and kidney impact, making every 3 month screening crucial on top of other STIs. Since covid, ive switched to on demand prep though, which save me some money, and if u are having side effects, this would be a better option, granted that your sexual activity isnt as active. Going this route wont force u to do the screening every 3 month though, as your supply will last longer, so u will need self motivation to go for your routine screening hehe.

Ah, for the comfort and for my legs. I've gone through brokers or discounters in obtaining my seats and have save some $$$'s in my doing this. The amenities and lounges and professional service have also been quite appreciated. My being comfortable is number 1 when it comes to my long distance travel: domestic as well as international.

  38. No, I am not referring to Dagoas Sauna hostel in calle 59. I just checked my messages exchanged with a chico who apparently frequently go there. The address is calle 58Bis #10-5. As I recall it, it is next to the Living 58 apartments (between the hotel and Loving 58 apartments in Calle 58 Bis); frente/opposite Theatron. I walked by on Tuesday. The door was open and inside on the wall there was a poster for the sauna, incl. massage for 60 mil. I didn’t have time (or the energy) to enter, so this is just information based on outside observations a few days ago.

  42. Sometimes nothing lifts our spirits more than a feel good story. This one is about a youngster whose dad was in jail and his mother was suffering from terminal cancer. Then he watched a break dancing video and nothing has been the same since. From the BBC A dancer from Vietnam says breaking kept him away from drugs and helped him deal with family problems. B4 is now hoping to represent his country in the Olympic Games in Paris in 2024. Breaking, also known as breakdancing, will be debuting in Paris, but currently the sports federation in Vietnam has no plans to compete in the new category. 43. I'm sympathetic to Olddaddy's concerns. A few years back, P and I took a boat trip from Krabi to Phi Phi and found being confined to the company of falang straight, elderly couples dispiriting. The jaunt included a lunch on Phi Phi in which we found ourselves forced to share a table with a couple whose disdain was palpable. We made our excuses, as they say, and left. it was the last time that we took a group tour.

  44. It's all about money. There are people flying private jets. Is it necessary? No, beyond basic food and shelter, nothing is necessary. But people with different levels of wealth do different things, that's what we call "classes": First class, business class, economy class".

  45. Living in Bangkok and with family in Europe, my only long hauls now are an annual 11-12 hour trip between the two. I would no longer dream of flying economy as long as I have ways of obtaining a business class seat. Besides, I need little to spend on at either end. Unlike @macaroni21 I enjoy the food and alcohol served nearer the front of the plane - but only if I am hungry and it is near a regular meal time. It's one reson I enjoy Qatar Airlines. Apart from the privacy of the Q suites, they serve your selection for the meals when you want them. I can't think of one meal which has been anything other than extremely good. While I don't drink much on a plane, QR's wine selection is particularly fine and I will usually enjoy a couple of glasses. Veering off topic slightly, on one first class round-the-world trip (my travel agent had alerted me to the fact that instead of the business class ticket I had reserved on CX, BA and AA, he could get me on first class if I switched to SQ, Swissair and Delta at the same price). That meant a couple of detours but I had no hesitation in changing. From London to New York, I had to fly Swissair to Zurich and pick up the late morning MD11 flight to JFK. It was one of the first aircraft to have installed video on demand. Lunch was superb and I enjoyed a movie as I dined. Two weeks later, that very same aircraft crashed into the Atlantic off Halifax just six miles from shore on the return to Switzerland. That accident resulted from a fire just behind the cockpit which had started in the wiring for the new video on demand system. Could the fire have started on my flight, I have often wondered? I wonder how many others have had a similar sort of near miss?

  47. I rather spend my money on business class bar guys than business class flights and always fly economy in the one of last rows precisely because nobody likes to seat there. Long flights are chore and I don,t see reason to pay more than necessary, jet lag being main issue for me. As for overweight passengers taking 1.5 seat I feel sorry for them but even more for people in the same row. Perhaps charging passengers by total weight of them and their luggage would solve issue ?

  48. I am thin/medium built so I have no problem fitting into economy class seats. But I still fly business class for flights longer than 3 hours because I can afford it. In my younger years I was stingy too and always flew economy class. But as I mentioned in my other post, I am at the age now to prepare for my death. I need to time my death and money spending. I am trying my best not to leave money behind. I rather die poor than leaving money. I work hard all my life and was frugal in my younger years. I deserve some enjoyment now. As far as airlines choice, I am not loyal to any airlines or airline alliance, there is no need for me to be. I just shop around and find the best deal on business class. PAL business class is usually cheaper but many of their planes have obsolete business class seat configuration, so I don't consider them the best deal.
