Where are the cheapest Gay4pay countries?
Heba as-sa3udeya and 10 others reacted to zsolec for a topic
I had a chance to visit many Asian countries before pandemic. The purpose of the visit is always touristic but of course as the sun goes down the urge comes to find some sex too :) I usually stay only couple days in the same place, so getting paid sex is a fast and good alternative vs. looking for free opportunities on the apps. Here is my experience mostly from pre-covid times. My favorite places are not where sex is 4pay but where free stuff still comes easy and plenty. Just to understand my experience : I am in my early 50ths, bald head, white, average looking guy whit gym fit body doing excersize about 4 times a week. -Thailand: we all know on this forum that everything is available for pay, but I am not soo lucky with free encounters. The apps bring few Hi, how are you boys but they never really develop into a sexual fun activity and as I said I usually move on quickly to the next place. Indonesia: I have to separate Bali and the rest of the country as my experience was really different due to culture and religion. Bali: became my favorite place during my travel. It was about 10 years ago when first time entered the island. I had the best time getting a handsome driver on the app. He became my daily tour guide, party friend and fuck buddy. Never asked me to pay him, of course fuel, food and drinks were on me. We were doing some crazy fun together including hunting for a 3rd one on Kuta beach in the night or he offered his virgin ass to make it up for me. He dropped me on the aiport on the last day and I never saw him again, lost contact when I left my phone in a taxi next year. I come back to the island many times, locals and plenty gays from other part of Indonesia (freedom and escaping from their family pressure to get married) are all friendly, getting fun nights like a guy invited me to a villa for naked swimming and sex in the pool, or model looking guy wanted me to stay with him because my bald head was making him horny all the time. No wonder the island is on the top of my list. Jakarta (rest of Indonesia): Nothing much touristic in Jakarta but as a huge city, plenty on offer. I never had so many boys contacted me looking for daddy experience. Apps are full of massage boys and escorts but free offers coming easy as well. I just returned from Thailand - Jakarta last month. I could not get a 3some in Thailand (not even for pay, I know you are probably rolling your eyes, ha ha ha) but my two days in Jakarta was enough to get a twink and a bear guy with scary thick dick to come and play with me on the first day, and a handsome police man who was eager to stay all day in my hotel room next day. Hong Kong: no good luck there, small plays in saunas but just like the city with expensive hotels the escorts were coming with the price tag too. Philippines: Manila is a huge city, had some good and bad experience there. Run into the biggest scam after a party night when I was offered 4 hands massage on the streets of Malate's gay bar areas. They took me to a short time hotel and during the massage they offered extras, gladly accepted not knowing one of the boy was in contact with corrupt policemen and taking evidence to blackmail me. To keep the story short I had to collect all my money from my hotel room to pay them. Now the good ones, I have few gay friends in Manila, they introduced me to straight boys hunting on the streets. Certain areas of the city the boys are hanging around in the night and as we walked by the negotiation started. Then I had a chance to choose any boys I wanted. My friends knew short stay cheap hotels and remember it was around 5 usd for the boys and I was told not to pay more to keep the local business running. Probably it was the cheapest sex I ever paid for and I was gladly walking around the streets every night. I visited other parts of the country: Puerto Galeria and Palawan were fun places too. The Saturday night in PG beach was a night to remember, sucked a boy at the end of the beach, shagged with a boy in one of the restaurant toilet, had a lady boy took me to his room and on the way back to my hotel picked up a handsome guy who did not have transportation to go home. Of course, I insisted to sleep next to me, not on the floor and I could not fall in sleep till I made him come. All this action was in one night and it was in the low season. Cambodia: I visited only once and I was more excited about seing Angkor Wat and around the capital but those Khmer guys are so sexsy. Massage was cheap in Siem Riap and met few boys, handsome dark skin, sexy body and facial hair my weak points. No wonder, I tent to pick Cambodian boys in Bangkok Boy Bars. Vietnam: I had a guy was crazy for nipples and keep biting them for days till they become so sensitive that just putting on a Tshirt was a pain, with pleasure of course. But somehow Vietnamese boys are not driving me crazy. Their face is more, how to say: softer. I am missing that manly look I can find in other asian countries. I have few other places could mention but my story getting too long. The bottom line is (to go back to the original post) that different places will give you different experience. While gay4pay is available everywhere I am more happy to visit Indonesia and Cambodia because of the free encounters. Philippines are cheap too but got to be more carefull. ...I learned one thing from my last visit in Bangkok, we are not the same. What works for me, maybe will not work for you. Visit as many places as possible, experience the local cultures and soak in the boys, you will find your place to be happy the most. I was hoping to repeat Vinapu's legendary offs but as I mentioned I even failed to organize one 3some (not giving up, reading all the experience from other forum members will help me to succeed next time lol). Sorry If my story was dragging for too long. First time I actually shared such things and hope it was helpful for forum.11 points -
Day 7.25: The T in Thailand is for Threesome I’d say I’m usually up for things I’ve never done before. Whatever it is, if it sounds good, I won’t hesitate, and will just say yes. If I overthink it, I’ll just psyche myself out. That’s how I felt about the threesome with two Tawan men. The Tawan men, with big bulging muscles and the bravado that goes with it, in my experience, does not translate to particularly mind-blowing sex. This is subjective of course, and you might be all-in to what the hypermasculine have to offer, but I have the most luck with guys with just a tinge of gay in them. On the average, Tawan guys are not these, with a few exceptions, of course. And this is the first time I'm going to have a threesome with Tawan men. It's hard enough to get any threesome happen in other boy bars, let alone Tawan. But it was a situation where both men approached me first, showed some interest in making me feel comfortable, and made the suggestion of the threesome to me instead of me to them. It hasn’t even crossed my mind to have this in Tawan. I usually get just one guy and feast on him for the night. And the quality of sex has been uneven. Some have wowed me and do full on kissing and foreplay, others just insist on a muscle worship session and won’t initiate or be passionate. Probably because this is the mystique of the bar, and probably because most of them are straight. The two that I hired were the classic Tawan type. Even their profile pics on Line are of them competing in bodybuilding contests – all tan and oily and muscly. Not necessarily Tiago’s type. He is bowing out of this off for now. As he has newly acquired fighting gear to try on and admire, that will keep him busy while I am busy. I’ve been getting Line messages from both earlier in the day and closer to 5 pm. They both asked the address, and confirming our 5PM rendezvous. Tawan guy #2: Tawan Guy #1 Fairly professional communication. And at close to 5 PM I got a call from one of them asking for directions, as they were already closeby and wanted to confirm the address. They were on time, a very good sign. I told them I’d meet them at the curb so they know where to go. As I step out of the main gate of the AirBNB I was staying in, I see two big motorcycles, with big muscular dudes on them, literally a house away from me. I wave to them, and they look relieved that they weren’t lost. They parked in front of the gate, and followed me in to the house. You always get a different vibe whenever you see a bar boy in full street clothes. They were both in shorts, and wearing matching big Nike tennis shoes. 1 was in a fitting t-shirt, with his muscles bulging through the sleeves, and 2 was in a sleeveless shirt with biceps and arm veins prominently displayed. They lumber through the door and take off their shoes, another good sign, and survey the living room where Tiago, shirtless and trying out his boxing gloves, was. “Two?” 2 asks, pointing to me and him. “No, just me,” I laugh. They didn’t expect a foursome for sure, so I eased their confusion. “Boyfriend!” Tiago then exclaims, in English, standing up, pointing to himself. We weren’t really boyfriends, but I don’t mind when Tiago does this, perhaps to show that we are together, in case there was funny business planned by the two. He pointed with a gloved hand to himself, perhaps to further drive the point that he can mess these two up if need be. Not that there was any need for that. Tiago is just very protective when it comes to what he feels needs his care. “You do Muay Thai?” 1 asks Tiago. Translation was needed. Both Tawan guys got a kick out of Tiago. 1 asks where the bedroom would be, so I lead both to the room, and both take turns showering. As I already have showered, I hang out with Tiago until I see 2 in a towel. 2 is actually pretty talkative, telling us about his travels throughout Asia, selling his muscles all over. He said he has a hard time picking up other languages, and he has at least English to lean on, though it is not spoken in all the cities he has gone to. 1 now emerges in his own towel, and we go into the bedroom and I bid goodbye to Tiago. I was invited by both to strip down, as both take off their towels to reveal their moneymakers. 2 had some oil, and told me we can start by some light massage. The shoulder massage I got from the two last night, was continued, now with both hands touching my whole body. It wasn’t a massge per se, but it was a way for the sex to start, and it was effective. 2 was directing the whole tableau, as he instructed 1 on what to do, who is now super hard, with a nice thick cock, so feed me his cock, while 1 continued with using his hands all over me, and his tongue to play with my nipples, as he did last night. I was laying on my back, and 1 feeds his cock to me, as he offers up his body to my wandering hands. There was a lot of nice things to touch, as he had a a great ass, giant thighs, and a nice penis. 1 took a break from the pleasuring to wash his hands. After a while he came back hard as well, as he joins 1 with my wandering hands and mouth. Now it was his turn. He was smaller than 1, but he had big muscles and almost no body fat. After a few turns on foreplay on my part, 2 then again goes back to me to jack me off, while 1 continues to press his body against me. It wasn’t long till I came, all thanks to 2. 2 gets a towel to wipe away any of my spillage. And then 2 goes on to take a shower, as 1 stay behind with a still hard cock. I cuddle beside him, grasping his cock, as I talk to him about the night ahead – he’s heading to Tawan after this as it was a Saturday and it’s going to be a good night to work. A few more cuddles and 2 was done and it was 1’s turn to shower. I excuse myself to shower in the other bathroom. 2 stays behind in bed. Tiago at this point was shadow boxing, all sweaty and worked out wearing his new gear. “Good fighting,” 2 said, as he emerges from the bedroom, with 1 behind him. I give them what is owed, 2000 baht each, and no pleas for more money, which I expected but it did not come. They put on their shoes and asked me to see them at Tawan tonight. I say maybe, I’ll think about it. They find their motorcycles and off they go to probably eat. I just realized that aside from my alone time with Tiago, I’ve only had Threesomes with bar boys here in Bangkok. This must be a first. Tiago asks me about the off. I tell him it was fine, but I didn’t expect it to be as bed-shattering as how I usually prefer it. He asks me why I even wanted it, since he knows how I like it, knowing me very well by now. I tell him that sometimes I want the feel of a man’s body next to me, without the urgency of passion. It can be passionate sometimes, but the appreciation of other men’s bodies was the primary goal. “I don’t get it,” he says, as he takes off his shorts. “I’m super sweaty and taking a shower.” Two bouncy cheeks trailed him. I ask, “Do you want company?” “Come,” he says. I guess he was going to show me how I really liked it. After cumming twice in a row, I just needed a nap, which made us almost late to have time to have dinner and then a boy bar. But if one is pressed for time, one would only have to go to Foodland Patpong to have a decent and quick dinner, for cheap. It never disappoints. We taxi it to Patpong, first to Foodland, and then walk to our next boy bar… which ones do we have left to go to?10 points

How much to tip boy next to you

4214 baht, assuming dinners are 500bt each.3 points -
Me too. Yes, the chart should have said take the Bangkok rate, multiple by 3 for Jupiter, divide that by .2 and then add 900 baht. Once you have that figure, take the square root of that number and add 3,000 baht plus the cost of two dinners at Sunrise Tacos. That is the cost of a long time boy for Jupiter. My apologies for not being clear earlier.3 points

During my recent 2 week trip to Pattaya I offed 2 boys from Winner (not all together I need add, those days are past for me). One gave highly satisfactory service but the other one, a really cute twink, would not let me fuck him, despite some time spent kissing sucking. I’m versatile but I was set on being top with him as his cock didn’t look strong enough. I just had to accept it when he repeated several times “cannot” . I terminated the session and reduced his tip from the generous one I was intending. I had tried to make it clear in the bar what my expectations were but had not got a “written contract “. You cant win them all !.3 points -

Stayed in both many many times, and have taken boys with me back to my hotel room many many times with no issue. Both hotels will need a key card to use the elevators so you'll have to meet incoming visitors at ground level, but again no issues whatsoever in meeting boys and taking them up to your room. Maximum number i've taken I think is 3 boys at one time.3 points -
The undoubted unpleasantness of the job underlines any tip I offer. I often try to put myself in their shoes and wonder how they do it night after night. They put themselves in danger every time they leave the bar with a stranger and have to hope that the customer will treat them well back in the room. (I know from chatting to the guys that this is not always the case.) My regular guy in Pattaya, who I spend my holiday with every visit there, survived a very sad childhood marred by poverty and an abusive father. He didn't take up this work because he wanted to; as a straight guy, having sex with old farang was the last thing he wanted to do. His early experiences in Happy Boys were pretty horrific for him but he persevered and managed to get used to what he had to do to make a living. There are many new guys coming into the business and I'm always aware that for many it is a daunting prospect to agree to follow a complete stranger back to his hotel, not knowing what would happen or what demands would be put on them. That's why I'm rather free with my tips (but I don't throw money at them) and like most punters, treat them nicely.3 points

Seems like a vicious circle: demand could be low because of fewer seats/flights and higher airfares 🤔2 points

No-in ASEAN TH is by far the most expensive-not just in the usual price, but also ratio of MB vs free guys. But it has the ease and ample supply-in the cities concerned. If you translate the usual fees into US$ or €, TH is up to double its neighbors. (except Singy of course). I really liked this review of zsolec above-really agrees with my own experience-though a lot of it was quite some time ago by now. But then Indonesia has much more to offer as just Bali an Jakarta (dirty city). Cities like Yogyakarta, Solo and Malang on Java are /were very good for finding happy meets on the street-free or a few 1000 ( the local money rupiah has very low value, 1€ is now like 14/15k) and even more on Sumatera in some of its big cities )which however have nothing of interest to a normal tourist). But that was way before the apps and sites and I also speak the lingo fairly fluent. For me I travelled on the cheap like a bekpekker-not specifically aiming for the other goodies-but by then was always surprised at the ease and willingness of many guys you meet to step a little further.2 points

This trip I have had only around 3 or 4 duds . Not bad with the amount I boys I have taken over the last 6 weeks . Now I guess technically I was " conned" on one boy,my stupid fault ! I was drunk and he was extremely good-looking, great talker & smile. Offed him from a massage 500b ,he had a big dick, everything I wanted from a top Once back in the room he couldn't get it up, but we tried to do other things unfortunately his phone kept ringing , mamasan at the massage place, now technically I paid him for the hour, his massage was not good and he tried to rush me ,about 30 minutes service out of 1 hour ,no sex as he was flaccid puffy cock with some silicone , So I still tipped him the agreed price of 1500.,waste of 2000 altogether though more my fault as I was drunk, and I guess he used that to his advantage. Second one a Grindr guy turns up at my hotel, unfortunately wasn't him in the pics, he finally agreed it wasn't him and his "bar" where he worked ,boy busy they send me he says . He was like 35 and feminine compared to the boy in the pics who was 25 manly with tatts ,gave him 100b as he was angry and closed the door ,he demanded 500,you pay me 500 ok he is shouting in hotel Now guys I was told that on the Grindr app you can actually video call free ?¿?? So I will try this if it's possible? Third guy i got from a Go Go bar seemed nice n sweet, polite Cut a long story short , caught him rummaging thru my clothes, pretended I didn't see him as they were only the dirty laundry.Another farang I spoke to later at a bar suggested he was only interested in me and was trying to find out more information 4th guy was 45yo was supposed to be free even put it in his profile no money boys ,got him from Grindr , I ended up giving him the pleasure, sucking his dick ,rimming him etc ,he cum and after shower asked me for money for taxi which I didn't mind maybe 100,but unfortunately I never saw a Grab at 1000 baht ! Now this is a very small percentage and you have to expect at least some negative percentage. I know CHRISTIAN would do a graph on this 🤣🤣🤣but I think it's like 4%2 points

From Bangkok Post Seat shortage stymies tourism recovery The shortage of airline seats remains a major obstacle for the recovery of Thai tourism as most European flag carriers haven't resumed flights and frequencies to the pre-Covid level. Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) governor Yuthasak Supasorn said the agency met the Civil Aviation Authority of Thailand last week and was informed that Thailand might secure just 30.9% international seat capacity of the pre-pandemic level in the upcoming high season. At present, international airlines, mostly from major long-haul destinations, have not resumed flights as usual, leaving a limited choice for travellers who want convenient direct flights. The TAT has prepared a marketing plan to support airlines to bring passengers to Thailand, particularly from Russia and other countries in Europe, but it depends on the additional budget it requested. In 2019, Thailand had a seat capacity of 56.2 million, before plunging to 14.8 million in 2020 and 4.9 million in 2021. Tassapon Bijleveld, executive chairman of Thai AirAsia and acting chief executive of Thai AirAsia X, said most airlines are facing extremely high operational costs and insufficient manpower and aircraft. "The aviation business cannot pick up overnight, particularly for those who slashed their workforce during Covid-19," said Mr Tassapon. He said after parking aircraft for over two years, all engines need major maintenance work before taking to the skies, resulting in long queues and full bookings at every maintenance, repair and overhaul facility. Mr Tassapon said the TAT's initiative to help airlines increase seat capacity is a good strategy to boost the tourism industry. In the past, governments from many countries adopted similar mechanisms, such as providing incentives for airlines that can carry international passengers at certain levels. He said Thai AirAsia maintained all staff in the past two years to avoid such circumstances during the recovery period as commercial pilots have to extend their licences every six months by training with flight simulators.2 points

SP/RJ Return Trip

Monday is the day to fly up to Rio but first I wanted to get a local SIM sorted for my phone. Tracked down the local retailer for TIM, the network I had used before and headed off with my passport in hand. Even with the language barrier the guy could not have been more helpful. Even before I had a chance to try and explain what I wanted, seeing I was a visitor with a passport he knew what help I needed. Another customer helped with some English and it was not too long before I was going back to the hotel with a local SIM working in my phone. For me another great example of a local making a visitor welcome and all in a friendly manner with a smile. I was flying GOL today, my first time on this airline, between CGH and SDU. Gave myself plenty of time, Uber both ends, and with no rush everything went smoothly with an on time flight. Heading to Ipanema was great to see Rio in the afternoon sun. My home for the next few days. After arriving at the hotel headed out to a local cafe for coffee and snack to keep me going before heading back and getting ready for 202. After my first two nights in SP and the excitement of being in Rio I guess my expectations were high. while 202 was fine it was not busy and the selection of boys less than I expected. One of the guys explained it was quieter than a normal Monday due to another event in the city. Anyhow I relaxed with a few beers and checked out the boys. None really my type so was going to pass and just put it down to a quiet night. Then one of the cute twink type of guys caught my eye, he was friendly approachable with a huge package which had my interest. He had been walking around working the bar and when he came over was friendly and touchy. Anyhow we got a cabin and he made me welcome to Rio. Having stayed a while the stripper arrived, Gleyson Lopes who looked amazing in his gym wear so decided to stay for his show. Having enjoyed his performance I headed back to the hotel. It had been a quieter night than I had expected, but all was good. I had been spoilt by Lagoa at the weekend and it was Monday night after all. I will be back on Wednesday but what will Tuesday at 117 be like.2 points -

Will it be much better to visit in December vs August?
fedssocr and one other reacted to macaroni21 for a topic
I am having a blast in Thailand, and if you've read others' reports, I think you will see that everyone who has made his way here in the last few months had a blast. I think your concerns about insufficient attractions in August can be put aside going by the experiences of those of us who have visited. I find myself faced with more places to visit and revisit than I have energy or time. Or libido either! There are some members here who can do 3 tricks a day. This is beyond me. But the message to take home is that there are enough options here for those voracious enough to do three tricks a day. Haha. Much depends on how much weight you give to the weather situation. Yes, there will be a difference, but unless a key objective is to get a tan ( e.g beach time in Pattaya), then I really don't think weather is any real impediment. I note you didn't mention Pattaya in your post, so maybe beach time is not in your plan anyway. I also understand the complications of arranging travel around available leave periods. I have a similar-ish problem. And my instinct is to grab whatever time I have within my work schedule and not wait in the hope of another slot months later. Slots and opportunities can vanish unexpectedly. By the way, what's a PTO employee? You asked what is our confidence level regarding Screw Boys reopening. It's really hard to say, but with each passing week, it gets more and more unlikely. Reopening can be a costly exercise. Many interiors have fallen into ruin in the last 2 years, and I noticed that several bars have had a complete refit recently. So, it doesn't come cheap for the owners. And if they did their market research, they might conclude that traffic to other bars remain poor and probably unprofitable. Good for us as consumers (more choice) but not so good for those having to put money in.2 points -

A Tropical Vineyard In Thailand
splinter1949 and one other reacted to reader for a topic
From Forbes GranMonte Winery is located on the edge of Khao Yai National Park, celebrated for its biodiversity. (Livia Henge) lMy interest in heroic viticulture has taken me across northern and southern Italy, but I didn’t expect it to catch up with me on a recent trip to Thailand. As I was researching weekend trips from Bangkok, I stumbled upon the GranMonte Estate, a family owned winery located just 2.5 hours northeast of Bangkok. And, intrigued by the prospect of grapes grown in a tropical climate, I made the trip to learn about Thai wine and explore this emerging winemaking region. Located at the foothills of Khao Yai, a national park renowned for its biodiversity, GranMonte (whose name means “Big Mountain”) is set across 40 acres of land in Thailand’s Asoke Valley. Though the property’s Italian-inspired VinCotto restaurant and wine cottage may be reminiscent of the Tuscan countryside, the occasional sighting of elephants in the vineyard will remind you that you’re not in Europe anymore. You’re in the tropics. “Our region isn’t only beaches and coconut trees,” says Nikki Lohitnavy, the first and only certified winemaker in Thailand, and lead enologist of GranMonte. Together with her family, she has helped spearhead production in a new terroir. “The Khao Yai National Park is mountainous, reaching 4,000ft at its peak, making it the driest part of the country. In the winter, a cold front arrives from China, creating a continental microclimate in this area, with night temperatures that can drop to 50°F.” GranMonte was born out of Visooth Lohitnavy’s vision passion for wine, and it remains a family affair. Visooth is the CEO & Managing Director, his wife Sakuna is President, Nikki is the General Manager and Director of Oenology, and sister Mimi is the Director of PR and Marketing. Nikki always had a penchant for gardening and helped her family plant their first grapes on the property back in 1999. She went on to study enology at the University of Adelaide in Australia and has been a visiting winemaker in France, South Africa, Brazil, Portugal, Mexico, and Venezuela, giving her a strong background in diverse styles, climates and production methods. She is considered one of the world’s foremost experts on tropical viticulture and was listed as one of Forbes’ 30 Under 30 Asia in 2016 for paving the way for a new industry in Thailand. Her guiding philosophy at GranMonte? “I want to be true to the origin of the wine,” she says. “New world wines, old world wines, the labels are irrelevant — I go across the spectrum based on what’s best for each grape. Our crémant is more traditional and rustic, while our whites tend to have tropical fruit characteristics, like lychee and coconut,” she explains. “Visitors at GranMonte are often surprised that our wines aren’t jammy or high in alcohol, but resemble cooler climate wines that are fresh with a nice acidity.” GranMonte produces 100,000 bottles across 23 labels and grows dozens of grape varietals. Chenin Blanc and Syrah are considered best grapes for tropical climates thanks to their adaptability, but the winery also grows from Cabernet Sauvignon, Grenache and Tempranillo, to Viognier, Verdelho and Albariño, among others. Innovation and experimentation are guiding principles at GranMonte, which is a production-led, rather than a market-led, business given its recent emergence in Thailand. It produces sparkling wines in the classic method and is starting to make orange wines made in Georgian qvevris. It also collaborates with luxury hotels like the Mandarin Oriental in Bangkok and Six Senses Yao Noi to produce white-label wines for guests to enjoy an unexpected taste of Thailand during their stay. GranMonte’s wines have won more than 100 awards, including several gold medals at AWC Vienna for its Bussaba Natural Sweet Wine and Orient Reserve Syrah over the years. While most of its wine is consumed locally, 20% is exported elsewhere in Asia with growing markets in Singapore and Taiwan. Grapes are grown at 1000-2000ft above sea level and are pruned twice a year. GranMonte uses a precision farming system called “Smart Vineyard” to monitor the microclimate and ensure quality control and higher grape yields in the unconventional region. Unlike grapes in traditional winegrowing areas, Thailand’s grapes ripen in winter, in preparation for the harvest that runs from February to March each year. “There’s no dormancy in the vines,” explains Nikki, “So we can plan when we want to harvest.” The harvest generally takes place at night when temperatures are cooler, which is good news for the grapes — and the grape pickers. Visitors can join vineyard and winery tours of the property, followed by guided wine tastings, or stay overnight at GranMonte’s wine cottage which has 7 suites nestled in the vineyard. The Italian-inspired VinCotto restaurant is open daily for lunch and dinner. https://www.forbes.com/sites/liviahengel/2022/07/25/why-you-should-visit-a-tropical-vineyard-in-thailand/?sh=69deb39585002 points -

Day 7: In the heat of shopping I can’t believe it. After two and a half years of waiting, and finally being able to travel to Thailand, here I am, down to my last two full days in the Land of Smiles. It might not be a traditional visit, as I have Tiago by my side, but it was nice to see the old haunts. We still had some things we needed to do, and one of them had to do with shopping – mine looking for bargains and Thai-specific items that I’ve missed for 2 and half years, and Tiago some fighting gear he will need for the months ahead. Thailand is many things, but finding cheaper goods in the nooks and crannies of Thailand is certainly one thing that I’ve missed. On the subject of shopping, Tiago was sent a list of shops that the part-owner of the his gym recommended: I looked at the list and saw that some of these were in Chatuchak Market, the legendary outdoor market in Bangkok. Which was good, because it will give us a chance to visit the market after all these years, plus it will also satiate my shopping urges. I look at the map and yes, here they are: After a hearty breakfast at Coffee Club, we take the BTS using the Silom Line and then the Sukhumvit Line to the Mo Chit station. Leaving the station to walk to the market itself, we get a generous helping of Bangkok’s unfortunate heat and humidity. Perhaps this would be good to do earlier in the morning, when it is less like the surface of the sun, but we are both creatures of pleasure, and getting out of bed was a struggle. Regardless, we are here, basking in the infamous Bangkok heat, about to partake in an outdoor activity. Chatuchak Market is always a nice alternative to the traditional malls in Bangkok. I’m sure there is some logic to how everything was organized here, but the beauty for me about Chatuchak is how seemingly random everything is laid out, and how I find the stuff I want is always purely by chance. I have a mental note of roughly what I want to get, but basically I am content with wandering aimlessly in the market, buying stuff if I see it, and if the price is right. I am not beyond haggling, and actually look forward to it. I always leave with a healthy number of plastic bags with little things that I’ve found along the way. The experience is not without challenges though. The heat is part of the experience, but it is doubly challenging with a mask on at all times. I’m thinking part of it is ultimately performative, part of it is probably mitigating the spread of the virus, but I am at least more than willing to take part in it, if it makes the locals feel safer about me being around them. They are all mostly masked as well, so if its good enough for them, it’s good enough for me. When in Rome and all that. Unfortunately, the two stores selling Muay Thai gear were both closed when we got there, with the storefronts shut and a peak inside the stores revealed scant inventory. A casualty of the pandemic perhaps? I’d imagine 2 years of little to no tourist foot traffic in the market takes a toll eventually. I do notice other empty stalls as well. I feel bad for the locals who could not make it work and hold on until things got better, so I feel even better being here and doing my part to help the economy by spending my modest coin here. We still had one Muay Thai store left in the list that we could try, and it was sort of close to the MRT Line. Luckily Chatuchak also had an MRT Station next to it, Chatuchak Park. We head over to the station, and we were surprised that there was a full blown shopping mall at the station, and we continued our shopping there, albeit in more comfortable confines (they had air conditioning, for example). One of the finds of the trip was actually at a Starbucks in the mall, and this old-school Thailand mug, which design I prefer from the more modern mugs: After a good lunch at the mall, we make our way to the MRT, and a few stations later we get to the store called Super Export Shop. We were relieved to see that it was open, since we came out all this way. They actually had a great selection of boxing gloves, leg pads and Muay Thai shorts. Tiago was as happy as a clam, trying things on, asking me what I thought, and asked me to translate for the workers there when needed: It was quite interesting to see and experience. And also interesting to meet some other Brazilians who were shopping there as well. One Brazilian in particular was actually shopping in bulk, for a big shipment to the US, as he is based there, teaching MMA. Tiago and he had a fairly productive conversation about the sport and his goals, and they also exchanged contacts. Pretty soon he has chosen a couple of gloves, some Muay Thai shorts, some shin guards and athletic tape. He also insisted that I buy a pair of shorts he thought would look great on me, so I got those as well. I intended to pay for all this, and just wanted Tiago to keep his money for more important things. It was actually pretty reasonable, all of that was about $150. Small price to pay for my beloved to be ready for his future battles. It was 3:30 PM, so it was time to go. Before we head home, I notice there was a 7-11 walking distance to the shop. I wanted to buy some condoms, as I was preparing for the short time visit of the two Tawan hunks: Time to get happy. So next, a Short Time with Tawan…2 points

Unless Putin ends his war I don't think there's much way to incentivize Russian arrivals. It probably doesn't help Thailand that it's primarily a leisure destination so the airlines have less incentive to add flights since the conventional wisdom is they can't charge as much for tickets1 point

From Thai PBS Now testig wastewater for monkeypox at Bangkok airport Sewage at Bangkok’s Suvarnabhumi Airport is being tested for the monkeypox virus by researchers from Naresuan University in the northern province of Phitsanulok. The tests can detect traces of the virus in wastewater immediately – even before the infected person begins to show symptoms – and could be used as a “budget surveillance measure” to catch and control local outbreaks early on. Authorities are ramping up monkeypox prevention measure since Thailand’s recorded its first case of the virus in Phuket last week and since the World Health Organisation declared the monkeypox outbreak a “global health emergency” on Saturday, after 16,000 cases were recorded in 75 countries. According to research, the monkeypox virus can be detected in feces between 7 – 14 days of contracting the virus, often before the infected person begins to show symptoms. Therefore, testing wastewater could help to locate and control the disease before an outbreak occurs. Dr. Thanaphon Penrat from the Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Research Innovation said the idea is not only preventative, but cost-effective… “Monkeypox does not spread easily but has a fatality rate ranging between 1-10%. Testing wastewater for traces of monkeypox at airports and tourist destinations is the cheapest way of finding early-warning signs of monkeypox outbreaks.” Testing wastewater could be a sensible way to screen tourists arriving in Thailand for monkeypox instead of testing every person who comes through the airport. Introducing pre-arrival or on-arrival monkeypox testing for individual arrivals could be catastrophic for Thailand’s tourism industry, which has only just started to recover since the removal of Covid-19 related entry requirements. ================== From The Nation 40 year old smallpox vaccines effective against monkeypox Thailand has a stockpile of smallpox vaccines in cold storage which were produced more than 40 years ago in 1979 and 1980. Not only are the vaccines still effective against smallpox, but they are 85% effective against monkeypox too, according to Thailand’s Department of Medical Sciences (DMS). The vaccines could be used in the instance that the global monkeypox outbreak becomes a public health emergency in Thailand and the government is unable to procure fresh, more recently produced vaccines. There are 10,000 vials in storage which each contain 50 doses of the vaccine, amounting to around 500,000 doses in total. The vaccines are left over from when smallpox was completely eradicated in Thailand by 1980. The vials are from 13 batches, produced in 1979 and 1980, have been stored at 2-8 degrees Celsius for over 40 years.1 point

SP/RJ Return Trip

Sunday was a relaxing day, taking it easy after all the travelling. The neighbourhood was mostly closed and quiet with just one or two shops open. I met a young guy on Grindr for some midday fun. Was just as his photos when he arrived with an athletic body and a great kisser. Learn’t he had only been in SP for a short while and I was the second foreigner he was meeting. Late afternoon I headed to Lagoa, the place was busy when I arrived. Just like the previous evening except it was karaoke. The main bar area was packed, while the upper floors were quieter not due to be busier until later in the evening. The bar on the upper floor did not open until 18:00, and this area was generally a little quieter than the night before. Although I am enjoying this upper floor space to relax and escape the karaoke. While keeping an eye out for my black athlete from the night before it was noticeable there were many more boys having arrived earlier. Same kind of selection of boys as Saturday just more of them. A hot black muscular guy caught my eye, as expected he was working hard and in demand as he walked about with purpose so could not catch his eye. In the meantime being only my second visit and having arrived earlier was able to figure the layout and different spaces across the floors. Good to know you can get from the bottom floor to the upper bar without having to go through the main bar. Plus get to pass-by more boys who are working to attract business. The upper bar was open by now so hung out there with a beer for a while, until fortunately the previous hot guy came by and was able to chat with him. We fixed the deal and went to a cabin. An amazing experience, his body was so hard and a deep kisser. This is why I had missed Brazil so much. The guy knew his business and you could see why he was in demand. The place was certainly just as busy as Saturday, then the athlete from the night before arrived and had time with him. Guess knowing me from our previous session he was much more relaxed this time and the time was fun and easy. I decided to hang around a while longer. Looks like they will still look after your suitcase if your flying later that night as saw a customer grab his bag from the office before heading out. Even when I decided to call it a night, while there were boys leaving noticed still one or two hot arrivals. Guess the place was going to be busy for a while. Lagoa was a great start to my trip, and good to know it was busy with a great selection of guys. Can’t wait to visit again.1 point -

Bangkok Trip Report 2022: The wait is over. What was I waiting for?
jamiebee reacted to flashbarryallen for a topic
Based off your description, I'm fairly certain I was also with 1 on my recent trip. I went into the encounter not expecting much as I agree about the general vibe of Tawan, but he ended up surprising me. As I am completely unsympathetic to my neighbors, I can get really loud if I'm enjoying myself, and he was definitely into that. What surprised me is that especially toward the end, it felt like a genuine hookup because I could tell he was enjoying himself. I don't think it was anything special about me, though. I think he loves getting applause and cheers, and moaning in bed is the equivalent I guess. Since he felt like was doing a good job and his work was being appreciated, he totally let loose. We both couldn't stop smiling and laughing after. Definitely my best bottoming experience on my trip. Your point about "having a little gay in them" is so true and I have the feeling he certainly does. Thanks for sharing.1 point -

It seems there are several vineyards now appearing in the Kingdom. Visiting the famous Dansai Ghost Festival in Loei Province some years ago, I was surprised when our minibus passed quite a large vineyard. I was informed it was the first vineyard in Thailand and that the elevation, soil and hilly region made it ideal for making wine. This is a description. I did taste one of the wines - can't recall now which one. Pleasant and drinkable but certainly nothing special. Over the years I am sure they will improve in quality. Chateau de Loei The Chateau de Loei winery is situated at 600 metres above sea level in the province of Loei, some 500 km north of Bangkok, and 60 km from the provincial capital, Loei. The first wines were vinified in 1995. Thus Chateau de Loei is the first winery in Thailand. With 130 hectares it is 60% bigger than the PB Winery and more than eight times bigger than the GranMonte Winery. Here, too, the Shiraz and Chenin Blanc grape varieties, which thrive best in the tropics, are cultivated. The winery offers a large selection of different wines. The inexpensive wines are cheaper than at the previously visited wineries. But these also cost THB 450 (CHF/USD 14.50) per bottle due to the high alcohol tax. Some of these wines are drinkable, but they were not a pleasure. Since the Chateau de Loei produces a large quantity of wine, there must also be enough Thai buyers who have become accustomed to these wines over more than 20 years. Near Chiang Mai there is also an amazing tiny distillery that makes liqueurs from Thai fruits. I visited with a friend around a dozen years ago as his nephew runs it. Both are Austrian. I thought the quality both original and quite stunning. As the output is so small, almost all is exported. But you can occasionally find a bottle or two in one or two of Bangkok's really top hotels.1 point

Airfares may be less in December. In a "normal" year that wouldn't be the case, but there's a big drop as of the 2nd week in September. Now this is from the perspective of someone coming from the west coast of the US. Flying to Bangkok in September the fares are $500+ less that in August.1 point

I actually got my troll-training over at Hooboy's, many, many years ago. In researching male escort forums (I once thought of competing with Hooboy), I spent many hours studying the disease of trolldom. Their poorly written TOS actually encouraged trolling. Either Hooboy, or someone else who had his ear, actually thought it was a good idea to encourage escorts to join with multiple usernames. That way, if an escort wanted to say something controversial (or cause trouble), it wouldn't affect his business. IMO, it was a seriously stupid and misguided theory, and my professional criticisms seemed to fall on deaf ears (at least in the beginning). There was an old-fashioned mindset over at Hooboy's where certain people believed you had to coddle the evil 70's queens. Thank goodness many of those folk have died, and behaviors have changed. Very few places on the internet can afford to do what the NY Times does: subscriber's comments get monitored first before they are published. I contribute on their board, and IMO, it's one of the best, most civil boards on the internet, in total tolerance of harsh, brutal criticism. And I love their "editor likes" feature, a major selling point for users. Other boards can afford to pay their moderators. Unfortunately, it takes a lot of time and talent to "manage" personalities. People love to say that we're all adults and should know how to behave, but let's get real. A sick, unhappy queen doesn't behave like anything normal. Many boards rely on self-moderation, and they find a way to make that work. It's not easy to find reliable people to do a free job. I would pity the pour volunteer who attempts to control me. I think a discussion about MB rates must be a sharing of experiences. To give others (specially newbies) and idea on what to expect. We don't have to judge each other on what we pay a MB. Some of us might have a bit more to spent than others. Why would that not be oke? Good for the MB! But in general I myself find I very useful to have an idea of the "going rates". General difference between Pattaya and Bangkok. And between different bars (for example Moonlight and Jupiter vs DreamBoy). But in the end its all up to you and the MB on what rate you agree on. And also totally up to you to maybe add some extra tip for outstanding service and performance on top of the agreed rate...1 point

Throughout all this thread it seems to me three areas of delusion are emerging. First, - 'wouldn't it be nice if everyone else took the same approach to money boys in Pattaya/Bangkok as I do'. Second - 'wouldn't it be nice if everyone else paid and tipped the money boys the way I do'. And the third - and this is the real killer - is the delusion that a handful of active BMs on a small internet forum could materially alter the complex, and at times delicate, economy of the money boys and bars across the two cities. Even if we all agreed - which clearly we don't. I have the money I have, I am as generous as I can be with the money I have, and am realistic about what I can do with the money I have. I have less money than some (clearly!), and perhaps more money than others. Any yet the boys and bars of Pattaya continue to welcome us all; which is why we love the place and keep coming back1 point -
Bangkok post-Covid, July 2022
VancBCMan reacted to macaroni21 for a topic
I found Numazu’s analysis of Tawan’s branding most insightful. Indeed, there is a certain “time stood still” quality to our experiences at Tawan. The bar’s format has hardly changed. Even the newer premises are just as basic as the previous place. As Numazu put it, “Going to it nowadays is like getting into a time machine, harkening back to a Bangkok that was grittier, dirtier, and maybe more fun…” Numazu's analysis can be found at thread title “Bangkok Trip Report 2022: The wait is over. What was I waiting for?”, 24 July 2022, 9:59am. I had a similar thought when I walked in last week. I liked the familiarity of it, even though I am no muscle worshipper. I liked the easy-going character of the place where the guys just come up to you and say a few words without a mamasan swooping in to throw the “buy him a drink?” spanner at me. That said, Tawan does make a few concessions to modernity. The front-of-shop lighting is now more “dynamic”. There were about 15 guys in briefs except two in jockstraps. Most of the guys were in great form. It looked as if there was a competition they were preparing for, but the papasan said there wasn’t. When off the stage they might put a T-shirt on, but most of them stayed shirtless all the time. There weren’t many customers in the bar at about 10pm when I entered - perhaps ten (all Asian) – but because the bar is so small, barely 3 metres wide, it still looked active. At any given time, there were about 3 or 4 muscle guys on stage, which was no bigger than two dining tables placed end to end. The guys mostly just stood there and did nothing in particular. This was the part I thought the management should give more thought to. It’s not interesting enough for customers. But it’s always been like that, so I guess one could say why fix what is not broken? I was not bored, though. The papasan sat with me and we had a good conversation about the long shutdown brought on by Covid-19 and how everyone had to find other ways to survive. He shared a story about a Japanese customer (who had visited only the night before) who was stuck in Tokyo while his business in Thailand floundered. Discretion prevents me from repeating the details, but there must have been many small-time foreign investors in the same predicament. It made me think: As much as we might complain about being unable to visit our favourite destination(s) for two years, others with deeper financial stakes must have been tearing their hair out. On a different note, the papasan volunteered information about why they moved to the new shop, which is just across the street from the old one. Apparently, the landlord (of both the old Tawan bar and Sun Massage which were adjacent to each other) did not want to renew the lease for any of his tenants. The whole row, he said, now stood empty. Perhaps somebody is sniffing redevelopment potential, but frankly, with so much overbuilding in Bangkok, the property market already looks like a glut. At 10:30pm the show began. Once again, it was a throwback to the past. The first three items had cross-dressers doing lip sync numbers. Each was solo; there were no backing dancers because there simply wasn’t enough space on the stage. Then 3 guys came up to demonstrate some flexing. Two had outlines of hard-ons beneath their briefs. The third guy expertly positioned his dick to leave little to the imagination, with the glans peeping out over the waistband. There might have been one more act, but at this point, I wasn’t paying much attention to the show. I was more interested in making eye contact with one guy sitting quietly two metres from me. He seemed lost in his thoughts, and it proved unusually difficult to get his attention. I could have asked a papasan to tap him on his shoulder, but right when you needed one, no papasan could be found. Where were they? Through the corner of my eye, I noticed that the next act was the big cock show. About 6 or 7 guys came onto the stage briefly and then circulated among the audience offering a grope for tips. The trouble was that as soon as I tipped one (after a careful assay of his member with my hands), all the rest came to me like vultures to a carcass. I felt attacked. The fourth guy had my last 100-baht bill and I had to plainly tell the rest that there was no more money. Which was a good thing, because I had to get them away from me as soon as possible before the quiet guy left his seat. They were obstructing my line of sight with the object of my lust. I knew neither his name nor number, so it would not have been easy to tell a papasan who to summon for me should he disappear somewhere into the back of the shop. But he was still there after I shooed away the vultures, and finally, he noticed me beckoning him. “You not do show?” was how I opened my conversation with him. “Last time I do the jack-off show,” he replied. “But now, I don’t want to do anymore. I shy.” This is intriguing. I can understand the progression from shy to not-shy, but in the other direction? This is going to require a more extensive interview, and we made a pact to do it in my room. Drink (for customer or for boy): 400 baht. Off fee: 500 baht. Music volume: comfortable. The papasan also informed me that they had two short-time rooms upstairs. I forgot to ask about the charges but in any case, looking at how basic the bar is furnished, I’d have only the lowest of expectations for the rooms. In the daytime (not sure which hour to which hour) Tawan uses the rooms for massage services. “Some boys”, said the papasan, would be here to provide massages, but not all. He pointed to a guy near where I was seated as one of the usual masseurs. Bad move. That was the one guy who probably used the gym least. All of the sudden, I lost all interest in coming back tomorrow for a massage. That said, there might be others who would also be present in the day for massage, and who might be true hunks, but the papasan didn’t point them out to me.1 point -
Having contributed to several Asian-based Boards over about 15 years, I have come across and engaged with a couple of trolls. In Thailand one contributed so many posts to two of the Boards that it took the combined action of several posters to get him banned from one. In one based in another country in the region that had a much younger membership, the troll admitted he was a near eighty year old and pretended he was a member to give advice to young guys. Cross him and inform him his advice was nonsense and he would rant and rave calling those posters all manner of crap. After being temporarily banned several times, he was finally booted off. Each time, I got really pissed off. I hope I have grown up since then. Trolls crave attention and I am sure @joizy is correct. Most, if not all, are sad, bored older men who need a fantasy personality to gain attention and give some meaning to their dull existence. Psychopaths? I'm not sure. Schizophrenics? Almost certainly! Where are the cheapest Gay4pay countries?

Brazil would be 25% less than in those times now..... I'm going to Bogota next month, I haven't been there in ages. CUN-BOG 195usd r/t, industry rates at Hiltons and a stop on the way back in Panama, Waldorf Astoria 😵 Like Namazu said, airfare depends on where you are originating and carries a bulk of the expense generally.....but travel is fun (or at least it used to be). I don't keep charts, I barely remember where I've been (I'm not Asian, btw)......but my "go to" places are: #1 all around- Brazil= Amazing sex, fun guys, a little danger Avg cost for a guy=$36usd, plus entry fee and drinks if you go to a sauna...online is the same price. #2 Mexico= I live here, brown skin, lot's of fun, generally everyone turns somewhat gay when drinking- depending on what types of guys and what city will vary from free-$75usd...My average, when paying is $25usd. Mexico is a good sized country and lots of different cities to choose from ...Cancun being my least favorite because of the gringo tourism and tourist scams that go along with that. #3Thailand= There is enough info here to know what it's all about Indonesia= Bali, lot's of semi-openly gays- Because of religion, most guys are circumcized - much like Morocco or Egypt or Turkey...different being with an Asian or latin looking guy that is cut....I've been to Jakarta and Bali, is like NYC vs Miami or Mexico City vs Cancun or Bkk vs Pattaya....Jakarta is a big city not much to see but LOTS of people Bali is used to tourism, lots of Aussies go there and the hook ups are on apps or massage shops....average price was $25-30usd Cuba= Use to be lots of hot guys that were into pleasing....not so much anymore, but are diamonds in the rough sometimes- All street cruising and pick up points $20usd is the standard, I've seen some go as low as $5 and some asking $50....things are not good there right now, nothing on the shelves- I was going to go there instead of Colombia/Panama but changed my mind based on the ground reports. I've been all through Central America and no organized or set places/prices to really go by....just like spinning a wheel on the Grindr roulette. Dominican Republic= Haven't been there in ages, but in the Latin America forum there is info- Fares are too crazy from Mexico to there, but if I was on the east coast with cheap fares, I'd go back easily..... Colombia= I've been to several places, but not for awhile....good info in Latin America forum and going rates seem to be $25-40 usd Panama= some BEAUTIFUL guys....gay clubs seem to be underground still , but I've had AMAZING sex there, just finding it is not as easy as the other places listed here...prices seem to be about $50-$75 Those are the places I go to , for this type of stuff. I've been to many other places in the world...but those are the ones I return to....no wonder I don't write trip reports, thoughts run through my head like squirrels.1 point -
How Many Days In Colombia?
ChristianPFC reacted to macdaddi for a topic
Bogotá has incredible history and many sites to see. To get acquainted with the city, I would suggest 4-5 days including a Saturday night so you can attend Theatron, the largest gay club in South America. Know that traveling north-south in Bogotá takes time as the roads are congested so plan you time by neighbourhood-section of the city so you do not spend all your time in traffic. Day trips to the Salt Cathedral in Zipiquira or the sacred Laguito de Guatavita (the origin of the El Dorado legend) are exceptional. Medellín has a rich history (beyond what you see on Netflix) and is the centre of entertainment and film production, as well as being a rising tech centre (four universities) and tourism destination. I would suggest 3-5 days to get acquainted with the city and see some highlights. An overnight in Guatapé - El Peñol is also a great experience. Climb the rock to the summit and then explore the water on a boat tour before finishing up in Guatapé. There are tour buses continually between Medellin and El Peñol so you could make it a day trip. I would also suggest a day trip to coffee country (eje cafetero) to see traditional farming villages, but it requires a flight to Manizales or Pereira. Salento is the most famous coffee town and you can see the wax palms that are native to Colombia. For a day trip to the coffee region from Medellín, you can travel to Amagá where there are a dozen local coffee fincas you can tour. Cartagena is the gem of the Caribbean coast and is worth 2-3 days. Most find that they get bored of the tiny streets and plazas of Getsemani and El Centro (old city) so I would consider either a day trip to the beach clubs of Barú or Tierra Bomba. If you want to get completely away, take a few days in the Islas de San Bernardo where you have crystal clear warm water to swim in all day while you soak up the sun. Other cities to consider. Calí is on the pacific coast and is the home of Salsa music. Caleños love to enjoy life and have a good time. Go salsa dancing in Parque de los perros (free lessons each night) or hang out in Versalles neighbourhood. Santa Marta is another beach town at the base of the Sierra Nevada mountain and the start of the trail to the Forgotten City. Barranquilla is a shipping port and home the second largest Carnival in Latin America and to Shaquira, for whom they erected the worst possible statue of her image. And I would also consider visiting Santa Crux de Mompox if you are a fan of Gabriel Garcia Marquez (hire a driver - the roads are brutal), or La Macarena to see the Amazon from the Colombian side and visit the famous Caño Cristales river and waterfalls. Hope that helps get you started.1 point -
This reminds me of a post I did describing a way to compare different countries' cost to hire a boy relative to where I live, which is California. The information presented is old, since pricing is dynamic, for boys, airfare, cost of living etc, and the world has changed dramatically since 2018, but maybe I should update this for 2022 prices: It is a metric I came up with called the Monger Index, or a way to compare the cost of hiring in different countries versus the boys you get back home. It’s a metric me and a buddy of mine came up with while super drunk at the Crowne Plaza Bangkok at 3 AM in the morning years ago. He asked me why I get all these prostitutes overseas. With the airfare and hotel rooms, that cost adds up. Wouldn’t it be just cheaper to hire prostitutes back home? I told him he was crazy because (a) the prostitutes are expensive back home and (b) sex is more fun when on vacation anyway. But I disputed his thesis that it is cheaper to hire prostitutes back home. So I came up with an index that measures how much cheaper it is to get hot guys overseas than in the USA, accounting got airfare and lodging costs. This is the Monger index. I apologize for the math. I am Asian after all. Some assumptions: (1) Time Range: The index would not work in measuring one-offs. Of course ONE prostitute would be cheaper in the USA than ONE prostitute in Bangkok. A $250 an hour prostitute you hire for one hour to take home to your USA house is cheaper than a $50 gogo boy you get in a nice gogo bar if you add the $600 roundtrip airfare one needs to get to the sauna, plus the hotel cost. It will only work if you hire by bulk, and have a longer time range. My assumption for this index example is one week, or 7 days. For example, if you get one guy every day in a week in the USA, that adds up to 7*$250 = $1750. Now we are talking bigger dollars. Have sex in bulk when overseas helps you recoup your cost. (2) Airfare: The index should include the airfare. For my purposes here, I use airfare coming from California, because that's where I live. So for example, a typical off-season RT air ticket to Sao Paulo, Brazil is $1000. For Bangkok, it’s $550. This is a fixed cost in the index. (3) Hotel: Of course you have to assume you are getting a hotel in the city you are mongering in. I assume my hotels will be typical AirBNB’s, with basic amenities in a decent and nearby neighborhood. Translation: not a dump but not fancy, and Uberable or walkable to the sauna and tourist-friendly services. For Sao Paulo I assume of the cost, the AirBNB me and the BF got in Bela Vista last December. It was a decent $50 a night. For 7 nights that adds up to $350. For Bangkok, a typical decent Silom Soi 3 AirBNB costs $45 a night. (4) Overnights: I put in the calculation the cost it takes for hiring a guy overnight. For California, a typical overnight with a hot but not “superstar porn star” hot is $1000. For Sao Paulo, Jonas’ example was 200 reals, but I count his initial 200 reals in the sauna as part of the overnight, so 200+200 = 400 reals, or $104. For Bangkok, its a bit tricky, but I assumed a high-end 3000 baht overnight, or $91. I pay that because of all the sexual acrobatics I require all my boys. It is only fair. So here are the gross calcs. For 7 days, if I hired a boy for one hour and another boy for overnight every day: California Prostitute: Price for one hour times 7 + Price for an overnight times 7 = $250*7 + $1000*7 = $8750 Bangkok GoGo Boy: Airfare + 7 nights in AirBNB + Price for a garoto in the sauna times 7 + Price for a garoto overnight times 7 = $550 + $315 + $52*7 + $91*7 = $1866 Sao Paulo Garoto (Jonas): Airfare + 7 nights in AirBNB + Price for a garoto in the sauna times 7 + Price for a garoto overnight times 7 = $1000 + $350 + $52*7 + $104*7 = $2442 The index is calculated as the ratio of the 7-day cost of USA boys, divided by the total cost in that country. 7-day Monger Index for Sao Paulo = $8750/$2442 = 3.58 7-day Monger Index for Bangkok = $8750/$1866 = 4.70 Issues: (1) I do not count the Uber cost to get to the sauna or gogo bar, or the entrance fee for the sauna, or the cabina price, or the off fee, or the drink costs in a bar. (2) I do not account for food costs. Of course you have to eat whether in the USA or Brazil or Thailand. This may be a future improvement to be added. (3) The airfare is just from California, maybe it’s more or less where you are. Maybe my assumption of $550 for Bangkok is too much or too little. This is just what I see anecdotally. So, with that, here are my Monger Indices for some 6 cities I’ve been to, ranked by the best to worst: 1. Pattaya, Thailand: 5.54 2. Bangkok, Thailand: 4.70 3. Mexico City, Mexico: 4.53 4. Bogota, Colombia: 3.77 5. Sao Paulo, Brazil: 3.58 6. Rio de Janeiro, Brazil: 3.44 These are solely based on my experience. Your Monger Index may be different. Some observations: (1) Thailand remains the most bang for your buck, because of the presence of cheap decent places to stay in and low cost to fly there from California. (2) Mexico is helped by the fact that it’s so close to California, therefore the airfare is cheap. (3) Brazil on the other hand, is dinged by how expensive the airfares are from California. (4) If I factor in food, Thailand may even get a higher index, and Brazil may get a lower index. (5) Grindr prices were only used in Bogota and Mexico, because I do not have experiences getting anyone there outside of Grindr. So your mileage may vary. (6) Quality of boys is impossible to measure. And it is subjective, so it can’t be put in the index. The index is solely a quantitative metric. For example, twinks may be better in Thailand. Adonises may be better in Brazil. Again, quality is subjective, and can’t be measured meaningfully. Of course, in the end, your mileage may vary, and these indices are only meaningful to me. If you don’t like having sex with Asians, your Monger Index for Thailand is -1000000, for example. link:1 point

I have also experienced how various airlines treat the same markets differently: I have flown both BA and TK between LHR and IST. While TK business class was great in every sense (aircraft, configuration, seats, service, offerings, etc.) BA was God-awful, despite costing more than TK. Never again. All airlines seem to identify some markets as premium and put all their resources towards them, while using “leftovers” for their secondary (or, tertiary) markets. TK, in turn, does the same for flights between IST and some cities/countries they deem less important for them.1 point

Before deciding how much to tip, I think all of us should have to intern for a day at a shop and perform foot and leg massage as well as oil massage (including ALL of the extras) on someone in our age group.🙂1 point
