  1. Day 6.75: If you Think of Happiness, Think of Tawan The title is the tagline that has permeated my brain ever since I first heard it in 2014. It is also the prominent tagline in one of the last fliers I’ve seen from a Bangkok boy bar back in 2019: Having physical fliers nowadays seems pretty quaint in today’s all digital world. Kind of like those business cards that I’ve had printed whenever I go to work conferences or work travel. Nowadays it’s just “add me on LinkedIn,” and coupled with the phone app, I must admit, is a way more efficient way to send your contacts to another professional. The analog to boy bars and fliers is the social media presence. Moonlight is the king of this, doing regular Facebook lives to give us an almost daily reminder of its existence. Fliers are nice to hold in your hand but to also ultimately throw away with the rest of your airline boarding passes (another example of something going digital) after your trip. Social media notifications however, are eternally pushy, to the point that one gets numb to their existence. I can say that Tawan as a Boy Bar falls into this “pretty quaint” category in the grand scheme of boy bars in Bangkok. Yes, it has tried to modernize a bit, as evidenced with its growing social media presence, since everyone is doing it. And they were giving out Tawan-branded alcohol gel to sanitize your hands. But generally Tawan has stayed true to what it has always been. Still the same muscular guys who some have probably been there 10+ years (and calling it a BOY bar is a misnomer). Still the same tired gogo numbers. Still the same chuck wow act that admittedly has the wow factor for newcomers, but as a veteran myself, find the tips pushing a little grating. Indeed, Tawan was showing its age even when I first started visiting 8 years ago. Going to it nowadays is like getting into a time machine, harkening back to a Bangkok that was grittier, dirtier, and maybe more fun(?), instead of the Disney-fied tourist paradise it is now. But even if you are not attracted to Tawan’s brand of boys - the rugged older muscular daddy types with the occasional pumped up younger pups - you have to admire its stubbornness to keep true to its identity, despite the success of the more recent crop of flashier, more popular, and better-attended bars that cater to the lowest common denominator: to try to appeal to everyone by sacrificing individuality. It’s like what gentrification has done to the character of our urban spaces, or former gayborhoods paving the way to kids in strollers instead of gays in tutus, Tawan still clings to its identity – even if it is to a smaller audience. Count me in as a fan, even after all this years. --- It is now 11:20 PM, and I head back to Tawan to hang out there while Tiago delivers my luggage back to the house. I figure he’ll at least be gone 30 minutes, accounting for the round trip back to here, so it’ll give me time to get to know the men of Tawan. Upon entering, the last of the numbers was ending, and at this point, the boys were milling around the room, and the stage, trying to get a sale. I head over to my old seat, and order a new drink. Rum coke as usual – and boy was it really strong. They know how to dose their drinks! I survey the landscape and I see probably about 10 boys still around, with about 5 I can see having fun with. At this point I wasn’t necessarily looking for a bottom, just someone who I can do a “muscle worship” session, like with some nice foreplay, and maybe someone to top me. I’m not sure Tiago will be up for anyone here, because I know what he likes, and he is not a mega slut like I am (even accounting for his Brazilian-ness). There are a million other bottoms out there in the boy bar landscape. I’m here for the muscle. Pretty soon, one of the muscular hunks sits beside me (let’s call him 1). I am guessing he is early 30s. Very very muscular, as in like one of the guys in the photo above. He had a nice face, classic asian features. He extends a hand to shake mine. He asks for my name, and then asks where I am from (I get “but you are Asian” reaction, maybe it’s just easier to say I am from some generic Asian place), and the other stock questions. He didn’t ask for a drink or anything, but he did take my hand to guide it to his groin. He was direct, which bodes well for me. I take liberty to squeeze the muscles, and he gives me a light massage on my neck and shoulders. Another equally muscular man heads over to me (let’s call him 2), and then sits on my other free side, opposite the guy who is massaging me. He is handsome, muscular cut, probably 4% body fat, and very strong thighs and nice abs. He tells me he has seen me before (no doubt), and asks me if I was well and all that. The massaging guy interjects something in Thai to the guy, and it seems there was a little argument going. They settle down and now the other guy is massaging me. I’m getting the treatment from both guys. They are angling for tips, which is fine, that’s why I’m here. Now 2 becomes even more direct. He puts his hand in my shorts, and expertly massages my groin until I am at attention. Again, very direct and showing really good signs here. I am glad I am semi-secluded by the stage from other customers, otherwise I’d be a little bit modest. 2 then puts his hand in my shorts and massges my cock. Wow, is this normal here? 2 then lifts up my shirt to suck on one of my nipples. Darn, this is really direct and, sudden. LOL. Not that I am not enjoying. I am also glad that I’ve had two of the strong rum cokes to make me a little bit less inhibited. So before things got out of hand, I ask 2 how much for short time. He stops the sucking of the nipples and the hand job to think about it, and quotes 3000, but with a sour face. That was odd. And I am not beyond paying 3000 if the sex was good, but at the time, found the price a little bit steep. 1 was just staring into space, probably incensed that he was customer-blocked by 2. The captain goes to me and asks me if I wanted to off both guys. I hesitated, not sure about all this. The captain then says that they have a room upstairs if I wanted to do the deed here. That was interesting, though I don’t think the two I have are into that idea. I get a text from Tiago, saying he is ready to come back. Oh that’s right Tiago is with me still lol. I get a Grabtaxi for him and send him a screenshot of the Grabtaxi detail so he knows which taxi to take. I seriously haven’t thought about the logistics of me doing a short time session without Tiago, but now I will need to think about with these two musclemen beside me. Though I was eager to open my luggage at home and check if my stuff was still in there, since Bangkok Airways opened it. When the captain leaves, 2 asks me when I will leave Thailand. I tell him three days from now. I then ask him if he does home visits. 2 says yes, and asks me when and where I wanted it to do it with him. I think about it and say before dinner tomorrow, around 5 pm. That’ll give Tiago and I time to do our errands in the day, and then sex with 2, and then dinner. 2 then wakes 1 up from his reverie, and then utters a few sentences in Thai, and 1 seems to agree with 1. 2 then talks in English to me, saying that 1 can also come, and it will be 2000 each. A threesome with Tawan hunks? That was new. I immediately say yes, and upon exchanging Line, I set a date for them. After more strokes from 2 (I am close to cumming) and some massages from 1, I get a text from Tiago. He said he just got dropped off Soi Than Tawan and is heading back to Tawan. Since I had a date with the two Tawan guys tomorrow, no need to have them suffer further. I take out 500 baht for each guy, and they seem pleased with the tips, and confirmed the time with me again tomorrow. Pretty soon I see Tiago emerge from the door of Tawan. 1 and 2 say their goodbyes. I'm still seated, because I still had a hard on, and waited for it to die down, though the sight of Tiago heading back to sit with me certainly didn’t help. I told Tiago what transpired, and broke the news of the 5 pm rendezvous with the Tawan guys tomorrow. He seemed unfazed by this. He told me he opened the luggage and all seemed to be in order. I was relieved. When I have calmed down, we decide to head over to Patpong again to check out what’s up there. Upon arriving at Hot Male, the tout there welcomes us again, and we talk for a bit about the crowd he’s seen so far. He says it has been picking up, but they have a ways to go from pre-COVID days. He then asks us if we wanted to go in the club. I told him maybe not. He insisted, saying that since there is not a show anymore at 12 midnight, he is going to charge us only 250 baht each, and we can check out the boys. That was a good deal. So that’s what we do, another late night Hot Male visit. There was still about 5 sets of customers in the vicinity, with boys sitting with them. There was about 5 boys onstage, and they were pretty nice looking. Tiago puts his head on my shoulder, probably signaling he is ready for some cuddles. No boy was really screaming at me to be offed, though there was one delicious one that I entertained the idea of offing for a minute but ultimately I didn't invite him to sit with us. One by one, the customers leave. And before we knew it, it was 1 AM, and it was time to leave. We see the boys putting on clothes, and the staff slowly clean up the bar. We pay 250 each as promised. As we leave Hot Male, I take a few snaps of the surrounding bars. Some closed, some abandoned. I was still looking for some kind of entertainment at this hour, but were was Screw Boy when you need it? I ask Tiago if he wanted to go to a club, maybe to see if G.O.D. is open, I wasn’t sure. Tiago said no. He just wanted a Netflix and chill after all the luggage saga today. So that’s what we do. For there was two muscular men to contend with tomorrow, next post…

  2. Have read and reread this thread because it has been reported multiple times for offensive posts, let me say a few things. 1. I do not equate rates of escorts to anything other than what I believe they should be paid based on their professional job. 2. I do not believe that using a laborer wage is acceptable. 3. I did not see Z say that the rate should be that of a minimum wage and I have not found any threads that he berates others for paying higher or lower. 4. We are a gentleman's club and we all should act like that. If there are people you disagree with, state that move on. You will not always agree with what others pay or say. That is OK. To each his own. I'll keep advocating for higher money for escorts in Thailand as I do view this as something that elevates them to make their life better and for a very personal service they offer, that is the VERY least I can do. 5. I have said for years, that I pay or gift to boys is none of anyone's business but my own. I will say the same thing for the OP and for others who chimed in. Does not mean I will not continue to advocate for my own person opinion of what should be given, no it does not. This conversation was started because someone asked our opinion and we all gave it. 6. I have different rates for incall and in bar experiences. Years back, there was a lad in Sunnee that I loved to fuck. He was with other men long-term a lot but he loved sex and when playing pool he would often look at me and signal with his eyes, the parking places behind Come In Bar. I knew this meant that he wanted a quick fuck and I'd node yes or no. When yes, I would take a walk and in minutes he would follow and he would blow me and I'd fuck him right in between all the cars (with the hope that other cars didn't dive up). For that quick 10 minutes, I'd tip him 1,000 baht as opposed to the 1500 I'd pay for my home with a longer fuck. I did this at least 50 times and he was always good to me and vice versa. I also met a PR guy 25 years ago when I lived in NYC and he was giving head in the XXX Video booths for 20 bucks. He loved sucking dick and getting fucked. I told him he could come to my place anytime he wanted and I'd give him 100 bucks for same service. He appeared weekly and often 4 times a week for years. He would walk in, drop his clothes and get on his knees. If I had company, he loved it and would offer to do them for free (I had hot company back then). He is still a friend to this day. 7. I have traveled extensively and I understand the need to pay going rates and not above. I often have money that I give and say this is for short time and then another set that I tell them is for them to buy a gift for themselves and somethings a third for taxi. Having said this, I have not seen the rates in Thailand go up much in 20 years. To me, that is sad and thus why I continue to gift additional money. I do not believe Z's intention was to say don't pay more. I think he is trying to equate a mathematical equation to the service. I am not sure this is possible and thus, the math doesn't work for me. But, I am not a math person and when people start throwing calculations out there, I get confused. So, I have come up with a new acceptable price for Thailand. It is hereby decreed: Bangkok Short time - 3,000 baht Pattaya Short time - 2,000 baht plus taxi Bar Blow Jobs - 1,000 baht minimum Bar Hand Jobs - 999 baht Deep Kissing - 888 baht If no change, please tip upwards. Effective July 24, 2022 onward.

  4. My main considerations when I'm planning my monger trips are: Airfare costs and flight durations Infrastructure at the destination and safety Availability of the type of boys I like Being from Australia it almost always leads me to Asia, flights are under 10 hours and (in normal times) inexpensive. Infrastructure in most major cities is ok, it is very safe and my love of twinks is easily fulfilled. I used to travel to China a lot, it ticked all of my boxes, and although not widely understood the gay venues and apps were a goldmine of free and cheap offerings. Hong Kong, Macau, and Taiwan while more expensive also kept me very busy and satisfied. In the past 5 years, geopolitics and other issues lowered my safety rating in China and Hong Kong so I went looking elsewhere, which fortunately led me to discover Thailand. Based on all of the countries I have visited Thailand is number 1 in the ease of contact and availability of boys, the costs are rising but are still very reasonable. Philippines and Cambodia are cheaper but infrastructure and safety are lower on the scale in my view. I'm interested to try Vietnam, but my hesitation there is that I'm unfamiliar with the local laws, safety, and offerings. Eastern Europe interests me more than Latin America, but I think at some point I will start to explore them. @numazuI love the Monger Index, brilliant 😅

  6. My plane arrived on time and was quickly through the airport and on my way to the hotel. It was already evening time so had a shower and got ready to take another Uber to Lagoa. I was concerned I would have missed most of the boys but I guess being Saturday night the place was packed. Not a spare seat to be had in the main bar. I got myself a drink to check out the boys. This was my first time at the new location and had read much of the previous feedback. Agree it does not have the openness of the previous location. However, the building fitout is modern and smart and I liked the different spaces on the different levels. Same warm welcome and easy to work things out. Not sure how many boys I had missed, but there was still a variety of handsome guys. No big huge muscle guys, but many athletic guys and a few twinks. Many had been taken by customers at the bar but still a few working the place looking for customers. My eyes had caught a handsome muscular athletic black guy when I arrived and I found him again in the training space. We got a room and had a great time. So great to be back in Brazil. I had some drinks and some time with a more twinky Rio boy. Being the first time to that neighbourhood going back to hotel there were so many bars and people out having a good time on a Saturday night. Plan one more visit before heading to Rio.

  7. Great tips. I'm guilty as charged for slamming taxi doors. The taxi drivers in Medellin hate it. Don't be like me. I've visited Colombia (Bogota, Medellin, Cartagena, Santa Marta, Bucaramanga & Cucuta) and worked in Medellin on and off in the last two years. Here are my 2 cents. Places to stay: Poblado is the most popular place to stay for tourists, but overpriced, sometimes problems to take guests to your room and you need a taxi for everything. I would stay in Laureles - Estadio. You can easily walk around, it's safe and has plenty of good & cheap restaurants and bars. If you want the local experience, you can stay in San Bernardo, Belen. It feels like a village in the big city. Very cheap, safe, still close to everything but don't expect to hear a word of english or see another tourist. Going out: You should visit bar chiquita at least once, just for the decoration (and go to the toilets!). Industry club is the place to be for young gay guys. There's 'barra libre' every friday. The best way to pick up guys is to go with a small group of friends, it makes it easier to talk to other guys that you fancy. Collect whatsapp numbers (you need whatsapp, they all use it) and meet the next day when they are sober (and you as well). Things to do with your friend du jour: they all love parque norte. It's not disneyland, but it's good for a couple hours of old-fashioned fun. Shopping in centro is also rewarding if you want to buy cheap clothes (the guys love cheap clothes) or designer clothes at a fraction of the price (and quality) of Poblado shopping centers. Hiking in Parque Arvi is a great pastime. They love it because it's cold (take an extra sweater and don't forget your umbrella). The metrocable ride gives you an amazing view over the city & hills. You will probably be alone with your friend in the cabin, but don't forget that there's a security camera (the guards had a great laugh with my friend recording a tiktok with him twerking). Outside of Medellin: Barbosa is a colonial pueblo one hour by bus from Medellin, surrounded by hills and waterfalls and off the beaten path. Great for hiking and swimming. You can rent a cheap finca and have a great stay / party with a bunch of friends. On the way back, you can stop at parque de las aguas and have fun on the water slides.

  8. Day 7: In the heat of shopping I can’t believe it. After two and a half years of waiting, and finally being able to travel to Thailand, here I am, down to my last two full days in the Land of Smiles. It might not be a traditional visit, as I have Tiago by my side, but it was nice to see the old haunts. We still had some things we needed to do, and one of them had to do with shopping – mine looking for bargains and Thai-specific items that I’ve missed for 2 and half years, and Tiago some fighting gear he will need for the months ahead. Thailand is many things, but finding cheaper goods in the nooks and crannies of Thailand is certainly one thing that I’ve missed. On the subject of shopping, Tiago was sent a list of shops that the part-owner of the his gym recommended: I looked at the list and saw that some of these were in Chatuchak Market, the legendary outdoor market in Bangkok. Which was good, because it will give us a chance to visit the market after all these years, plus it will also satiate my shopping urges. I look at the map and yes, here they are: After a hearty breakfast at Coffee Club, we take the BTS using the Silom Line and then the Sukhumvit Line to the Mo Chit station. Leaving the station to walk to the market itself, we get a generous helping of Bangkok’s unfortunate heat and humidity. Perhaps this would be good to do earlier in the morning, when it is less like the surface of the sun, but we are both creatures of pleasure, and getting out of bed was a struggle. Regardless, we are here, basking in the infamous Bangkok heat, about to partake in an outdoor activity. Chatuchak Market is always a nice alternative to the traditional malls in Bangkok. I’m sure there is some logic to how everything was organized here, but the beauty for me about Chatuchak is how seemingly random everything is laid out, and how I find the stuff I want is always purely by chance. I have a mental note of roughly what I want to get, but basically I am content with wandering aimlessly in the market, buying stuff if I see it, and if the price is right. I am not beyond haggling, and actually look forward to it. I always leave with a healthy number of plastic bags with little things that I’ve found along the way. The experience is not without challenges though. The heat is part of the experience, but it is doubly challenging with a mask on at all times. I’m thinking part of it is ultimately performative, part of it is probably mitigating the spread of the virus, but I am at least more than willing to take part in it, if it makes the locals feel safer about me being around them. They are all mostly masked as well, so if its good enough for them, it’s good enough for me. When in Rome and all that. Unfortunately, the two stores selling Muay Thai gear were both closed when we got there, with the storefronts shut and a peak inside the stores revealed scant inventory. A casualty of the pandemic perhaps? I’d imagine 2 years of little to no tourist foot traffic in the market takes a toll eventually. I do notice other empty stalls as well. I feel bad for the locals who could not make it work and hold on until things got better, so I feel even better being here and doing my part to help the economy by spending my modest coin here. We still had one Muay Thai store left in the list that we could try, and it was sort of close to the MRT Line. Luckily Chatuchak also had an MRT Station next to it, Chatuchak Park. We head over to the station, and we were surprised that there was a full blown shopping mall at the station, and we continued our shopping there, albeit in more comfortable confines (they had air conditioning, for example). One of the finds of the trip was actually at a Starbucks in the mall, and this old-school Thailand mug, which design I prefer from the more modern mugs: After a good lunch at the mall, we make our way to the MRT, and a few stations later we get to the store called Super Export Shop. We were relieved to see that it was open, since we came out all this way. They actually had a great selection of boxing gloves, leg pads and Muay Thai shorts. Tiago was as happy as a clam, trying things on, asking me what I thought, and asked me to translate for the workers there when needed: It was quite interesting to see and experience. And also interesting to meet some other Brazilians who were shopping there as well. One Brazilian in particular was actually shopping in bulk, for a big shipment to the US, as he is based there, teaching MMA. Tiago and he had a fairly productive conversation about the sport and his goals, and they also exchanged contacts. Pretty soon he has chosen a couple of gloves, some Muay Thai shorts, some shin guards and athletic tape. He also insisted that I buy a pair of shorts he thought would look great on me, so I got those as well. I intended to pay for all this, and just wanted Tiago to keep his money for more important things. It was actually pretty reasonable, all of that was about $150. Small price to pay for my beloved to be ready for his future battles. It was 3:30 PM, so it was time to go. Before we head home, I notice there was a 7-11 walking distance to the shop. I wanted to buy some condoms, as I was preparing for the short time visit of the two Tawan hunks: Time to get happy. So next, a Short Time with Tawan…

  9. I never do, and this saga is totally my fault. Tiago and I were consolidating all our things into my one luggage because he left his at the Muay Thai gym, so I inadvertently put my power bank in with the rest. Normally I'd have it in my carry-on, which is the whole point of it, to be accessible to me whenever I travel. Yes, they would have allowed it on the carry-on. That's what the Bangkok Airways agent confirmed as well. And I only (usually) have it in my carry-on for easy access. Never had a problem with that in the past. I think it is allowed so at least you can "watch" over it if there is a problem. You know its one of those things that you forget happened because it happens to me so many times, and I take it for granted. I get on a plane at least once a week, so all this becomes so routine. I don't remember if the agent checking us in asked me that. I knew I was also distracted a little bit during that time because there were some super hot surfer dudes in the next counter trying to check-in their surfboard. This is the Bangkok Airways policy for carry-ons and power banks, so yes I could have 10 of my 20,000 mAh in my carry-on if I wanted. Nope, it was totally my fault. The Power Bank should have been in my carry-on, and they could not have it fly back in the next flight unless some flight attendant or pilot had it in their carry-on, and that's not their job. The agent did say that we can retrieve it in the original airport by just showing the receipt we were given. And that's exactly what Tiago did, and even with his limited english, was able to retrieve my power bank. Screenshot of a video he sent after he landed: OMG YES you reminded of that. I guess Tiago fits the stereotype.

  10. I guess say if you lived here (expat) in Pattaya say on a "mature aged pension" (sounds PC, rather than say old age pension😂) then it would be a bit difficult paying those sort of prices all the time .

  11. Brazil would be 25% less than in those times now..... I'm going to Bogota next month, I haven't been there in ages. CUN-BOG 195usd r/t, industry rates at Hiltons and a stop on the way back in Panama, Waldorf Astoria 😵 Like Namazu said, airfare depends on where you are originating and carries a bulk of the expense generally.....but travel is fun (or at least it used to be). I don't keep charts, I barely remember where I've been (I'm not Asian, btw)......but my "go to" places are: #1 all around- Brazil= Amazing sex, fun guys, a little danger Avg cost for a guy=$36usd, plus entry fee and drinks if you go to a sauna...online is the same price. #2 Mexico= I live here, brown skin, lot's of fun, generally everyone turns somewhat gay when drinking- depending on what types of guys and what city will vary from free-$75usd...My average, when paying is $25usd. Mexico is a good sized country and lots of different cities to choose from ...Cancun being my least favorite because of the gringo tourism and tourist scams that go along with that. #3Thailand= There is enough info here to know what it's all about Indonesia= Bali, lot's of semi-openly gays- Because of religion, most guys are circumcized - much like Morocco or Egypt or Turkey...different being with an Asian or latin looking guy that is cut....I've been to Jakarta and Bali, is like NYC vs Miami or Mexico City vs Cancun or Bkk vs Pattaya....Jakarta is a big city not much to see but LOTS of people Bali is used to tourism, lots of Aussies go there and the hook ups are on apps or massage shops....average price was $25-30usd Cuba= Use to be lots of hot guys that were into pleasing....not so much anymore, but are diamonds in the rough sometimes- All street cruising and pick up points $20usd is the standard, I've seen some go as low as $5 and some asking $50....things are not good there right now, nothing on the shelves- I was going to go there instead of Colombia/Panama but changed my mind based on the ground reports. I've been all through Central America and no organized or set places/prices to really go by....just like spinning a wheel on the Grindr roulette. Dominican Republic= Haven't been there in ages, but in the Latin America forum there is info- Fares are too crazy from Mexico to there, but if I was on the east coast with cheap fares, I'd go back easily..... Colombia= I've been to several places, but not for awhile....good info in Latin America forum and going rates seem to be $25-40 usd Panama= some BEAUTIFUL guys....gay clubs seem to be underground still , but I've had AMAZING sex there, just finding it is not as easy as the other places listed here...prices seem to be about $50-$75 Those are the places I go to , for this type of stuff. I've been to many other places in the world...but those are the ones I return to....no wonder I don't write trip reports, thoughts run through my head like squirrels.

  12. The Wisdom of Solomon could render no more fair levy. However, I have one tiny suggestion: I believe deep kissing should be 999 baht and bar hand job 888 baht. Aside from that it should be posted in bars and clubs throughout the applicable jurisdictions. 😉 Although Jupiter is a celestial destination, it remains accessible only through Soi 4. Consequently it falls within aforementioned jurisdiction. Therefore, above levies apply. There's no need to seek mediation or interpretation from mamasan because the decree rises above their authority in such matters. Mamasans will continue to have authority in more temporal matters (i.e., where you will sit and what waiter gets assigned to your table. Going forward, as the rule decrees, there are no more "regular" rates, only the new "acceptable" rates.

  15. I don't agree with the suggested going rates @TotallyOz but I do agree that trying to build mathematical formula to how much paying boys is useless, ln reality it's a negotiating between you and the boy and the deal is closed when both sides agreed to the fee, also there are subjective factors as @TotallyOz advised like you are ready to pay more or give gifts if you really liked the boy and there is nothing wrong about it, it's really none of anyone's business if a client want to do it , I personally declined immediately if a boy quoting very high rate even if I want him badly but if I have a good experience with a boy I don't mind to tip him generously or buying him a gift, it's really depends on certain situation and the chemistry between us this is why I believe there is no point trying to create a formula how much we should pay.

  16. Please remember that Bali is not Muslim. It has its own long-adapted version of Hinduism and almost all Balinese boys are uncircumcised. Those whom you meet who are circumcised are likely to be boys from neighbouring Java, often money boys.

  17. Of the many good points in the @TotallyOz post, I think this is one most of us rarely think of. In 1979 I gladly tipped 500 baht short time and it always seemed equally gladly received. That was then worth US$20 and seemed to be the general rate. The inflation rate in Thailand in the following two years was pretty horrendous - in 1980 was 24.56% and in 1981 10.32%, but my 500 baht tips did not increase. In fact, I don't think I increased it to 1,000 baht till around 1990. After the Asian Economic Recession in 1997 it moved up to 1,500 and then later 2,000. Between that first visit in 1979 and the start of 2020 prices in Thailand have increased 361.7%. The value of my 500 baht is now 2,308.69 baht. But core consumer prices are now once again in a period of inflation. Inflation in July alone was 7.6% higher than the same month last year with food prices showing the highest increase. So if the working boys looked at offical rates (which I agree is unlikely), either I was overpaying in 1979/1980 or I should be considering a short time rate of at least 2,500 baht by the end of this year. At today's rate, that would still amount to less than US$69. So when considering any form of comparison, I sggest the above should not be disregarded. https://www.worlddata.info/asia/thailand/inflation-rates.php

  19. Sorry, I read your question incorrectly. The first massage was the Venezulan, Paulo who supposedly lives in Robledo barrio. The "second" massage, where he previously received a facial then a massage at a later date (near Parque Poblado) sounds suspiciously like Abybos Spa on Cra 43D which does advertise online but I have never seen them publish ads on Grindr FWIW.

  20. Is that 25% figure based just on more favorable USD/BRL rate? Have fun in Bogota and please report back 😃 Re: airfare, as someone who almost always pays with miles/transferred credit card points, Brazil is cheaper. It also has the advantage of being a shorter journey (at least for me being East Coast US based) and no massive jet lag. I love reading about all the fun in Asia but those advantages of Brazil - plus my like for more muscular guys -- has always prevented me from taking that leap vs South America when I have the precious trip time available. EDIT - cheaper than Asia that is to say! Colombia is of course cheaper/closer still than Brazil and I’ve also had a lot of fun there in my two trips to MDE. But for me nothing can beat the experience of the saunas in Brazil… I’d agree with @Latbear4blk that Colombia is probably the best bet for overall cheapest destination.

To be honest, I still haven't had a single clue in mind how a threesome should be I read other members' report, I sampled some scenes from Korean seegasm series but never found those particularly appealing. They lack the level of intimacy the one-on-one has, which is important to me in having sex. Guilty as charged. It was not really about sex and I kinda expected disaster from the beginning. I derived more pleasure from watching them interact with each other, however awkward it was

  23. Actually, cars may be different in other countries, because industry standards are not international. In all the South American countries I have been to, many cars' bodies, specially the most popular brands, are clearly more fragile than in the USA, I think the sheet metal is thinner over there.

  24. From Reuters / MSN DUBAI, Sept 29 (Reuters) - Qatar Airways will resume flights with Airbus A380s earlier than planned to make up for capacity lost in the regulator grounding of some of its A350s, according to a report published on Wednesday. The airline last year indefinitely parked its 10 A380s after the COVID-19 collapse in long-haul travel, and said it would only ever use five of them once they returned to service. Executive Traveller, quoting the airline's chief executive, said Qatar Airways would operate flights with five of its parked A380s from November, with all 10 possibly returning next year. “We have to find capacity for our passengers who need airlines to take them to their loved ones for Christmas,” Akbar Al Baker was quoted as saying. A Qatar Airways representative confirmed the report was accurate. The five A380s would give the Gulf carrier more than half the 4,000-seat capacity it had lost in the Qatari regulatory grounding of 13 A350s in August. The grounding followed Qatar Airways allegations that the fuselage surface below the paint on each of the jets was deteriorating. The airline has been locked in a months-long public dispute with Airbus over the allegations, insisting it would not take any A350 deliveries until the problem was resolved. Al Baker in January said the A380s - the world's biggest passenger jet - was the "worst aircraft" with regards to emissions. Executive Traveller also reported that Qatar Airways was looking to hire "additional" Boeing 777 pilots from British Airways for "at least the next six months." Qatar Airways is a minority owner of British Airways-owner IAG . https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/world/qatar-airways-to-fly-unwanted-a380s-after-a350-grounding-report/ar-AAOXWac

  27. Just to piggy back on the power bank. I believe Bangkok airports is one of the rare airport (or maybe China, I can’t remember now that China borders are practically cut off from the rest of the world) that have a strict regulation on power bank as a carry on. I have been through on a number of airport security and the security handling agents do not really bother on power banks that are hand carried. However in Bangkok through my limited experience the security handling agents would inspect them to ensure that they are not over 32,000mAh. So do ensure that the battery specification are labeled or risk getting them confiscated.

    The Webb Telescope

If I understand what I've read, one theory is that everything - all the matter in the universe, and all the energy - existed in a single point called the singularity. ⚫ When it exploded, everything contained in it started flying away in all directions. That's what we're seeing flying away from us today. It's mind-boggling that everything we can see once existed in a single infinitesimal point, but smarter folks than I am believe that to be the case. I've also read that someday things will start contracting again and everything - all matter and all energy - will collapse once more into another singularity, a single point containing everything. And then I guess the whole thing could start all over again. But I think there's another theory that says things will just keep flying away, expanding into space and never stopping until someday entropy will be complete and there won't be any identifiable matter or any measurable energy. They call that 'heat death'. I'm sure not the guy to explain what happened or what's going to happen but I recently saw a PBS special about the Webb telescope in which someone remarked how amazing it was that folks on this tiny planet of ours, orbiting an unremarkable star in an unremarkable solar system in an unremarkable galaxy, should have figured out how to look all the way to the edge of the universe. I do think it's a privilege even to have these kinds of discussions. In fact, if I had to choose between searching for the answer and actually having the answer, I think I'd pick the former. But I couldn't swear I wouldn't page ahead to see how it all ends.

  31. Bogotá has incredible history and many sites to see. To get acquainted with the city, I would suggest 4-5 days including a Saturday night so you can attend Theatron, the largest gay club in South America. Know that traveling north-south in Bogotá takes time as the roads are congested so plan you time by neighbourhood-section of the city so you do not spend all your time in traffic. Day trips to the Salt Cathedral in Zipiquira or the sacred Laguito de Guatavita (the origin of the El Dorado legend) are exceptional. Medellín has a rich history (beyond what you see on Netflix) and is the centre of entertainment and film production, as well as being a rising tech centre (four universities) and tourism destination. I would suggest 3-5 days to get acquainted with the city and see some highlights. An overnight in Guatapé - El Peñol is also a great experience. Climb the rock to the summit and then explore the water on a boat tour before finishing up in Guatapé. There are tour buses continually between Medellin and El Peñol so you could make it a day trip. I would also suggest a day trip to coffee country (eje cafetero) to see traditional farming villages, but it requires a flight to Manizales or Pereira. Salento is the most famous coffee town and you can see the wax palms that are native to Colombia. For a day trip to the coffee region from Medellín, you can travel to Amagá where there are a dozen local coffee fincas you can tour. Cartagena is the gem of the Caribbean coast and is worth 2-3 days. Most find that they get bored of the tiny streets and plazas of Getsemani and El Centro (old city) so I would consider either a day trip to the beach clubs of Barú or Tierra Bomba. If you want to get completely away, take a few days in the Islas de San Bernardo where you have crystal clear warm water to swim in all day while you soak up the sun. Other cities to consider. Calí is on the pacific coast and is the home of Salsa music. Caleños love to enjoy life and have a good time. Go salsa dancing in Parque de los perros (free lessons each night) or hang out in Versalles neighbourhood. Santa Marta is another beach town at the base of the Sierra Nevada mountain and the start of the trail to the Forgotten City. Barranquilla is a shipping port and home the second largest Carnival in Latin America and to Shaquira, for whom they erected the worst possible statue of her image. And I would also consider visiting Santa Crux de Mompox if you are a fan of Gabriel Garcia Marquez (hire a driver - the roads are brutal), or La Macarena to see the Amazon from the Colombian side and visit the famous Caño Cristales river and waterfalls. Hope that helps get you started.

    Floods hit Bangkok

How many times have we heard this question posed? Fact is: every time there is a major rain storm and parts of the city are temporarily flooded. Everyone knows that we are entering the period of the most intense monthly rainfall. Yet drains are always blocked, flood gates and pumps are not working properly, and so on and so forth. We are still at least 10 weeks from the high tide in the Gulf of Thailand. So that cannot be blamed this time. Apart from Jakarta, few other Asian cities that are low lying or have substantial low lying areas - Singapore, Hong Kong, Tokyo, for example - seem to experience flooding on the level of Bangkok despite prolonged bursts of heavy monsoon rains. I can remember a time in the 1980s in Hong Kong when flyovers became raging waterfalls and small streets became canals. Hong Kong invested a great deal of cash in massive underground holding tanks on the north shore of the Island into which water coming down from both the hills and the sky was drained and redirected through tunnels to the sea on the south of the Island. Flooding is minimal now and is drained away quickly. I understand the 9.7 km long SMART tunnel which opened in Kuala Lumpur around 2010 has partly solved what used to be the disastrous flooding problem in the city centre. Singapore has rain for most of the year. It has a sophisticated system utilising many ways of getting rid of that water including pumps, catchment tanks and canals. It is still subject to occasional flash flooding but not nearly as bad as Bangkok. Yet Bangkok and other low lying parts of Thailand have seen little improvement in recent decades. Successive governments have acknowledged the problem and do virtually nothing about it. I recall durng the dreadful 2011 floods that one Minister seriously suggested assembling long-tail boats across the Chao Phraya river with their engines at full power to push the water from the north back upstream! Such is the intelligence of some who rise to Ministerial level in Thailand!

  35. I don't care if they speak Thai or not, if they are good at what they do, I'm happy (doctor wise). I don't care if they speak English or not, if they are good at what they do, I'm happy (boy wise). I don't equate either to the Thai minimum wage as they are both professionals. I think that may where we diverge in our opinions? I view escorts are professionals and not minimum wage workers. No apology needed. I have had people poking the bear for 20 years. I have a think skin. I use to live in Pattaya and went out nightly and loved my time there. For the last 10 years, I only went to visit a dear friend. He is no longer with us so I don't go as often as I was mostly going to see him. I find I can be just as happy boy wise in Bangkok and still get to all the big malls.

  37. I asked one of the lads, who I had met on a previous trip, and he suggested some of his friends who I had met at the bar. I offered 3000 to divide amongst them as well as paying for everything. I paid 1200bt return for the shared speedboat which had another seven Asian customers (so 240bt each person) and takes about 15 minutes. The lads suggested getting the Songtheao to Tien beach, which is quieter and less touristy than the busy beach the boat arrived at. I thought that was a good move as I liked the quieter Tien beach. Lunch under beach umbrellas with very reasonable jetski price for any of our group who wanted that. When booking the speedboat, which is just walk on to the pier at Pattaya and talk to speedboat companies, one specifies a return time. So a pleasant afternoon out. I don't know about overnighting there.

  38. It's true that this topic always seems to generate a lot of heated discussion and I don't know why. When compensating a guy for his services I first look at the going rate and set that as my minimum. After that I look at the value for money side and adjust my payment accordingly. I think the guys have a terriblly difficult job, serving customers old enough to be their grandfathers. Some are also rather unattractive, others are rude and demanding - and yet the guys have to soldier on. Of course some can refuse to service certain clients but others are forced to by their bar. How they manage to get hard has always been a mystery to me. The thought of having sex with someone like myself must be a very daunting prospect, softened for the boys perhaps by the fact that I'm nice to them and show them total respect. I can also be quite generous if I really like someone. I find the Thai boys I "interact" with to be polite, friendly, totally honest and respectful of me and my "needs", basic as they are. They are lovely people. They've gone through the tough Covid times so I will be extra generous when I get back to Thailand.

  39. Agree completely with giving the lads a good time. Last week I took 4 bar lads to Koh Larn, they showed me a better beach, had lunch, some went on a jet ski. That evening they invited me to drink with them on the beach. They can show us a good time in other ways than sex. I think bar lads like all the tips, unless they're bizarrely on the low side. And when it's raining a lot, like now in Bangkok, and there are few customers, we can be more generous.

  40. Sure, I have a doctor in NYC that is 200 for a visit and the escorts are 300 for a short time. I use the Whopper as a means. You can buy a Whopper in USA and other places. For an escort in the USA, you would never tip the cost of a Whopper for service but some in Thailand try this. In Thailand Whopper meal cost 219 Thai baht. So, the cost of a short time is about 10 Whoppers (using 2,000) In USA, the Whopper meal cost is 6.50 USA. So, the cost of a short time is about 31 Whoppers (200 USD, even though most in bigger cities charge more). Yeah, Yeah, I know cost of living, etc. But, IMHO, tipping someone the cost of a meal at Burger King for a blow job is insufficient. Perhaps, cruel even. This thread has been fascinating and I think a good debate among many to see different views. I expect more see my view in Bangkok than in Pattaya. But, maybe no one does and that is OK. We all have different ways of tipping and taking care of the people who take care of us. As @floridarob pointed out, I may gift too many motorcycles to guys that are good to me and I have never felt guilty with that. I have also never tipped the cost of a Whopper for a sexual service and I have felt guilty for that. I have one long term boyfriend who I have gifted 10 motorbikes, two cars, and more. And, I still feel that he has not gotten the full amount he deserves for his kindness to me over the years. Hell, today I'll be taking him for a Whopper for sure. Thank you all for your various points of view. I would buy each of you a Whopper but I'm afraid you would feel the need to put out and I don't do over 40s.

But for me it lust a bit of the luster over the years. Nevertheless, I certainly would prefer that it survives in the same way I hope newcomer New Twilight manages to sustain itself because the Bangkok scene very much needs variety. The problem Twilight has at the moment appears to be indecision: does it want to be another Jupiter or Moonlight or does it wish its own, unique identity which so far doesn't seem to be catching on all that well. Personally, I'd hope it adopts the Lucky Boys approach. It has the stage and lighting to put on the same type of floor show entertainment along with the ever-popular rotation of 30-40 guys representing a cross section of ASEAN. I really miss that place.

  43. At least you are a case of OCD beyond Divine help, you should not need to use any filters. Just scout the first few pages, you will have more than enough. My record is page 5, a rainy day when I was super high. The number you quote is misguiding. It counts ads, and one escort have multiple ads. Additionally, I am not an expert in Colombia, but in my one visit to Medellin I had the clear impression that boys over there do not manage mileroticos like boys over here manage Rentmen. They manage it more like Backpage used to work. If you go far beyond the first pages, you will be in outdated territory. Finally, pay attention. Did you not notice after scouting the first pages, how repetitive some ads are? Easily you can find five different ads in a raw belonging to the same boy.

    Monkeypox

I have ascertained that Montreal’s Monkeypox vaccination clinic in The (Gay) Village has a broad, welcoming ‘open door’ policy. Anyone generally meeting the exposure risk criteria qualifies for the Imvamune (aka Jynneos, Imnavex) dose. You do not need to necessarily strictly check one or more of the eligibility boxes. You can simply indicate belonging to the/a higher risk group. You do not need to be a Quebec resident or Canadian. **Foreign nationals are eligible.** I used my Quebec provincial health insurance card but it was for identification, not eligibility or cost coverage. Here are the steps as well as some attached images and a link to the just released Canadian guidance. I had thought of skipping the 28-day boost dose they had instructed me to pursue when I received the prime dose last week, because I had childhood Vaccinia inoculation, but the current recommendation turns out to be the single dose anyway. Good news for those going out of their way to come here. BUT I just thoroughly read the national guidelines and the fly in the ointment is that Quebec’s procedure is actually a departure. So I did not ask at the site today if they had formally lifted the 2nd dose! I assumed they had. The whole plan does not knit together completely yet. I myself will not get the 2nd dose even if offered. I may try to ascertain the actual Quebec province guidance at a later date. If you are particularly observant in reading the national guidance you will notice that the pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP for MPOXX) category is indicated for immunocompromised and other select sub-populations. You may wonder if this poses a contradiction. However, Quebec is taking a more liberal approach and basing eligibility on behavioural susceptibility viz MSM settings. I myself am not immunocompromised. —->> Welcome guard on the sidewalk, ascertaining you are there for the Monkeypox vaccination. Through entrance door to hand sanitation and a site-issue surgical mask, even if you have your own face covering. No COVID vaccination proof requested. A few steps to a site nurse to briefly go over your understanding of the disease and vaccination, more to address concerns and questions than anything else. You may be asked about risk grouping but nothing particularly intrusive. They also want to ensure you currently have no symptoms of having recently acquiring MPOXX infection as the vaccine is contraindicated depending on specific exposure incubation timelines. Ushered into an elevator to the open-concept dispensing area. Directed to a registration desk requiring ID (ideally passport if without Quebec REGIE health card). The full name of your father and your mother (maiden, I presume) is added to your name and birthdate in the registration system. This is to triangulate ID for safety/tracking purposes in case a popular name (eg, John Smith) and dob is duplicated due to volume. This is also the standard for COVID vaccination in Quebec. Your address and phone contact is also entered. Perhaps your Montreal lodgings suffices as phone contact is likely more paramount. Your ID sticker is fixed to a requisition as is common for any lab procedure. You are directed to another gatekeeper to confirm your identity is correctly delineated on the requisition. Then directed to the health professional administering the subcutaneous jab. I was miffed that she did not let the alcohol swabbing dry before the jab, as it can compromise the integrity of the active pharmaceutical ingredients, but perhaps this is more relevant for the earlier generation smallpox scarification procedure where the dozens of miniscule punctures would be picking up alcohol traces on the way into your dermis. Anyway, I forgot to stall in the unlikely event of an impatient more irascible type of person administering the dose. She had several minutes between each victim so no need to rush. That same person gives you a paper slip record, or enters the info in your immunization booklet if you have one, or both versions on request. Nothing digital. Finally the usual 15-minute sitting in a chair in the unlikely event of immediate reactogenicity. ~~~~~~~ The immunity sufficiency buildup is a few weeks. If you are in earnest about prophylaxis, a visit to the strip clubs likely defeats the purpose. https://www.canada.ca/en/public-health/services/immunization/national-advisory-committee-on-immunization-naci/guidance-imvamune-monkeypox.html
