(part 7) We stayed and danced a bit in Heart of Darkness until 12.30 am (they even played some Vietnamese pop music mixed with Khmer and Chinese songs). Then we tuk-tuked back to A&P. I gave Guide his money plus 10% tip and he was on his way. Dancer looked surprised. He thought Guide was gonna stay with us. What did he expect of three of us doing together anyway? Since Dancer looked a bit uncomfortable, I asked if he wanted to leave. No, he can stay. So my Phnom Peng's short trip ended on a good note. I'm so glad I reached out to Dancer. We had a good time (I gave him the same amount I gave the waiter boy 50$ for ST), his body is that of a dancer: very firm, virtually no excess fat, with the kind of lean muscles you normally don't get through gym training (he told me he doesn't go to gym, just dance training and performance). He asked Guide where I am from and Guide, obviously lying through his teeth, told Dancer he doesn't know (can't figure out why he lied anyway). So "I feel so good when I found out you are from Vietnam too," Dancer later told me. There was something else. Guide told me Dancer worked in Toolbox way longer than he did so the former must be so used to taking customers, but Dancer told me no way, he was there to dance only because he was in an exclusive relationship with his Viet boyfriend at the time. I asked Guide if he actually saw Dancer going with customers back in Toolbox, he said no, "But I know everything. I used to work in the bar so I know about the situation." Well, the usual "he said, he said" case so I don't know who to believe, not that it matters anyway. Dancer gave me a piece of intel: he is going to move to Thailand to work as a dancer in a new gay bar his former boss, Toolbox's owner, plans to open in Boyztown, Pattaya and it may happen as soon as this coming July. So guys, brace yourself The only note of regret is that I didn't have a chance to check out outdoor cruising venues (if any) as ChristianPFC reported some interesting encounter he had in Wat Botum park. Guide told me he's not aware of any such places in Phnom Peng, but now I've learned enough to NOT trust Guide's sources. Speaking of outdoor cruising venues, there are quite a few place in both HCM City and Hanoi frequented by local gays and MBs as well, especially around certain public parks and suspended construction sites. 20 years ago, it was the only way for us to find MBs (now it's still there but on a more limited scale because of the apps). There are currently 2 parks in Hanoi: Thong Nhat park and Hoa Binh park, the former located near the city center and much more accessible to foreigners. But I don't think first-time visitors (local or foreigner) should venture out there on your own without a local friend to "chaperone". FYI: the on-going rate in these parks could be as low as 2 USD for an on-site bj, 5 USD for ST and 10 USD for LT (for comparisons, I already gave the apps rate in part 5). Boys are mostly straight, in their teens and early twenties, fresh from rural provinces, trying to make it in a big city. Actually, since a picture's worth a thousand words, here are some taken in Thong Nhat park just a couple of weeks ago. All four boys in the pictures are MBs. There are so many funny anecdotal stories about MBs and their customers in these parks. An MB boy told me this: a middle-aged customer picked him up from Thong Nhat park and they went to a short-time hotel nearby by customer's motorbike. The taller one thought I'm Singaporean and the shorter one - Vietnamese. So Shortee won and I asked him how he knows I'm Vietnamese. He said something about skin complexion and facial features similar to one of the Viet boys in Fresh Boys. I bought them drinks and we talked. Shortee is from Laos, while the other - Cambodia. There are four regular boys working downstairs, but two were off today. So I took the chance to ask about the tiny Lao Vinapu mentioned so many times in his recent reports. "Must be me" Shortee said, "I'm the only Lao working here and I've been here for a long time". I did a double take. He's not that tiny and not that clingy either. He then asked "Who's your friend who's talking about me?" Well, I never meet Vinapu, so I grasped at "Mr KFC look" straws. It immediately struck some bells. "Oh that one" He whipped out his phone, scanning through it, then showed me a picture of him and a gentleman being very clingy to each other. First time I saw Vinapu's picture, ever. Being a longtime fan of the Big Bang Theory series, my first thought was: Nobel prize winner in Physics, not Mr. KFC (though I can see where that KFC label comes from). Either way, he is obviously someone when you meet, it would be hard for you to forget. Then I asked if they remember @jason1975 too, the guy from Singapore. Of course, "he was here two weeks ago, he's very nice". Then I took the chance to remind Shortee that they were not very nice to him when all turned down his offer for karaoke. Shortee looked apologetic "We were busy..." I also asked if they remember paulsf, "guy from America, quite close to Viet boys in Fresh Boys, he always sat here". Shortee checked his phone again and produced a picture of another gentleman, who looks handsome but kinda stern. I met Paul so I'm sure it wasn't him. "But this guy comes here a lot too," Shortee said. Well, if I have to match that picture with someone well-known in this forum who also frequents Hotmale downstairs, I would say @reader. His writing style (concise and to the point, careful choice of words, often politically correct) give me the impression of a college professor who tend to plan ahead, is serious and committed to what (or whom) he's doing (Vinapu sounds like someone who could be in academia too, but could also equally and easily get sidetracked for, his words not mine, "a bit of whoring") (Sorry, I'm not sure if it's appropriate to openly talk about my impressions of you guys like this in my thread. Since that first meeting, anytime I walked by Hotmale and if Shortees saw me, he would rush out, clutch my hand and asked where I'm going. He quickly took to holding me and gently planting a peck on my neck many times while we were talking. @vinapu had he ever left you a hickey? After Hotmale, I decided to go back to M-star Massage in Silom Soi 6 because earlier when walking by I spotted a very cute and boyish masseur on duty. So, my plan was to travel to Rio for 10 days and work on a project that I need to finish during the days and attempt to make a new gay boy and drink caipirinhas in the evenings with contacts from prior trips. on my first trip in 2001 I did not know difference between short and long time, read somewhere that tip ( for long time ) of 2000 is generous. So when offed guy from bar to short time room in Suriwong hotel and gave him 2000 because I wanted to be generous , I remember his squeek of joy to this day, day or two later my eyes were opened when boy from BoysBangkok quoted me 1000. Not that I was very active on apps last trip but I can second your findings, out of 2 guys who actually found me on the apps one quoted 1300 another 1500 and one who happened to be my neighbor in hotel also wanted 1500 for not so short time from 3 am till morning. 2000 from bars seems to be what they quoted although some brave ones go to 2500 , whether they are keen on reducing , I did not test but I'm sure most of them will gladly. Discretion in negotiation may be in order as in some bars it seems buys are asked to hold the line so they may say no and then whisper 'ok, ok" Disturbing trend I noticed is the better looking guys want up to 5000 for long time so prospective buyers better be mentally prepared to counteroffer and stand your ground. Some boys will too though, when I said I only can spent 3000 because that's all I have at disposal for tonight one of guys told me that I can pay difference in dollars so I left empty handed, LOL but fortunately LINE provided me with so called V solution

I think Sky above may be right , people want more space because of Covid. Whether Business or premium seating make that much difference I very much doubt but that's me. Another reason may me that after 2 years of sitting at home people are luxuriating a bit to make up for lost time. I know the feeling myself

ANA has service (currently with sales in all classes) out of Chicago, Houston and Vancouver with Tokyo connections to BKK. Having flown both multiple times, I consider ANA and Singapore the best Asian carriers for quality and reliability.

Just regarding tip expectations, my last trip in 2019 I didn't discuss the tip beforehand with any of the guys and they were all happy with 2000 baht, which is why I didn't bother discussing the tip beforehand. I understand that inflation happens, and not being able to work for a while during the pandemic so I'm happy to go a little higher if required. I was in Freshboys last night and the mamasan actually told me to tip my guy 2000 baht. I think in future I will discreetly discuss the tip with the guy just so we are all on the same page. Will report on Freshboys later, and also wherever I decide to go tonight - I'm thinking hotmale as I haven't been there before, the new twilight or even dreamboys again as I liked the look of many of the guys there. Yes, the SQ A380 does let you get off at FRA. I actually think they require it to service the aircraft. While the summer is a mess, hopefully by autumn (after the school holidays are over) will be better at the airports. Frankly if you can afford it, it's another good reason to book in business class since you get shorter queues and more assistance if things go haywire at most airports. I just booked IAD-DOH-BKK using AA miles on Qatar Airways. But not until early next year. If you have the points though it's also a good option.

@ichigoYou mentioned that you're not going to connect with everyone and I think that's important for many readers to learn. I think with certain Tawan guys, it's easy to confuse their initiative with interest and connection, but that's not necessarily the case. Yes, I noticed that, although I think pressure is on all classes. Here are some possibilities. Many of us missed out on trips- in my case six- and promised ourselves that the Great Return would be special with so much money saved. For me, that meant Business Class instead of Premium Economy. EVA's Business Class prices (£3000 now and £2500 in November) are good value; consumer surveys rate it very highly. I've experienced it on up-grades and can vouch for its comfort.. And I was also aware extra space in EVA's Business Class with each seat protected by a sort of retractable barrier for privacy....I considered this an extra anti-Covid precaution. By the way, I think EVA's Business Class has been expanded....but this is only an impression. Other airlines may have made similar changes. .

Up until early June I have got good deals with airmiles. Great flights, similar cost to pre-Covid. Not anymore. With increased demand colliding with reduced schedules, fares are significantly increased. I only use airmiles if I can get business or first, otherwise it is better to pay cash for economy as the taxes due when using airmiles are usually roughly equal to a no-discount economy fare. I have just spent an hour with a very helpful person from my favored airline trying to use airmiles (any combination of airlines on their network) to get to Bangkok business/first for any two-week period in January/February 2023. Finally, success (I owe the agent big time for their expertise and persistence), but a more complex route at an approximately 60% increase in cost (both cash and airmiles) above my trip in May/June. $1000 above current economy (in the past it has been roughly equivalent), $1100 above my May/June trip but $12,000 below the business/first fare if I paid cash (for the convoluted route). I must really like Bangkok Guy. (Yes, I do).

When I spoke with the airlines reservations department the agent told me that people have not traveled for two years and that many do not care about the price. And she added that more than ever want business class for the additional space/ distancing due to Covid.

I'm not a regular drinker - I usually stick to diet coke- but I got caught up in the atmosphere of the bar every night and drank way too much. And around closing time I had trouble keeping my eyes open so I don't think I would have been able to do much in bed. Besides, I take my sexual adventures seriously and need to be in top form! Lol

My favorite City in the Philippines is Cebu City!! Getting a little more congested but nothing like Manila!! And many Condos for sale. I would recommend taking a condo on AirBNB for a month or so and see how you like the area. I usually book at the Ultima Residences in Tower 3 of the Crown Regency. But many more in the Cebu IT Park area next to Alaya Center. I do not know it my self but I have Guys who live in Banilad, near University of Cebu. Look there. And if you really want to go Up Scale, check the Marco Polo Plaza units. Good luck!!

Picking a Hotel depends on your budget. I like the Best Western LEX on N Escario St. Great roof top swimming pool and good breakfast buffet. But not Gay Bars near there. If you want to stay next to Ayala Center, the largest mall in Cebu, then look at the Quest. Within easy walking distance to the Mall, good choice of breakfast, and again a great swimming pool. For night life you should plan an all nighter at one of the two Discos. ICON in central Cebu City and OQTAGON in Mandaue City. Both just get started about 10pm and go until 5am. I guess there are a few Go Go Bars there, but I have not been to them. Enjoy!!

I'm here basically in the Philippines to look for a retirement place other than Pattaya Pattaya was first on my list but I'm still searching. I have ruled out General Santos City,and Davao City,too congested,too crowded although you could live here on less than $600 a month probably even less if you owned your own condo ( you wouldn't be able to live like a Filipino and buy fast food everyday though😅) Look if I lived here In Davao City I would explore it more and probably love living here but it's like a big Udon Thani,I hate no footpaths but a lot of big shopping malls here in Davao City. I'm in Davao now, ( shaded in red) they say this is the safest city in the Phillipines. As for the gay scene it's mostly from the apps Grindr etc but if you were alone you could meet boys easily,it's just it's more hard work than say Pattaya and Bangkok as it's not brought to you in bars and go go ,you have to search for it here in the Philippines by using apps or going out on the streets and making small talk and to some elderly farang that can be difficult I never had any problems in both Davao & General Santos City,no one following me or calling out to me like they do in Thailand,not one person has asked me for money. Thanks, Kokopelli! Singapore is a great airline but that non-stop NY-SIN flight, as you probably know, is 18-19 hrs long. Might be OK in (very expensive) business class but, to me, that seems like a long flight, even in PE. Traveller123, I have been hearing about crowded conditions at European airports so I would plan carefully. Schiphol in particular has been experiencing 'airport chaos', with massive security queues & flight cancellations, owing to 'staffing shortages'. So, KLM might not be the best option.

My best experience with the stickers was when I was explaining rimming to a guy. To show he understood, he somehow found a perfect sticker of, iirc, the rabbit with two hands in front of its face with its mouth open. That got a chuckle out of me. Yes I agree every side has its own expectations so it's better to negotiate the rates in advance to avoid unnecessary arguments later on. Back to my first visits at the early 2000's it was a bit different I don't remember any negotiatiations with boys they were happy to receive 1000-1500 BHT for ST and 1500-2000 LT and nobody complained but things changed since then living cost raised up and the Thai economy improved dramatically so boys demand much more now and closing fee in advance is a must nowadays.

Doesn't guarantee performance but at least joy killing haggling is avoided. 3000 for short time seems very generous unless guy is built like Adonis and performs very enthusiastically in the room. Day 21 In the morning no trace either one of us two being bored or hungry so we just brushed our teeth and returned to vertical position doing a lot of romantic stuff and talking . At 4 I could see from my window K’s motorbike parking at front and minute or two later we were embracing again. With 4 LT and 3 ST he was staple of my trip and for me he was hunk of my dreams with no attitude, never rushing and smooth but steely body of semi-god, muscular but not overbuilt. No doubt he realized that I liked him so shortly after arrival he jokingly tried to discount his popularity with me showing me picture of motorcycle and telling that if I buy him that machine he will give his motorbike to his father. But after I found very good answer “ I will not buy it because I don’t have motorcycle myself “ he turned everything into joke. It was not out of this world request since I know former Tawan guy later transplanted to Jupiter whom I offed dozen times who got big machine from his Chinese lady client, I even saw her in the bar not to mention I was awarded trip to Hualampong by that vehicle. No, that phishing this time did not spoil my experience and we had normal fun as every time before. At one point Jason1975 reported arrival in BKK and I told him K and me will be dining at G”Bangkok so he can join us. And in fact shortly after we sat down there I heard my name, Jason came to say hallo and shake hands and I had impression in K he liked what he saw asking me where I got him from. Being discreet gentleman I whispered where from. Dining at soi 4 was not good idea today as all Pride attendees descended on the soi so place was noisy and very busy and I was glad I had my own, much more quiet celebration in my room. Another sad good bye today but I always maintain one can’t return without going away first. K went to his bar on his old motorbike , I walked to hotel to pack and since I travel lightly I did not take too much time but spent rest of time on my tablet until time came to roll my suitcase to Chong Nonsi. Night guard waved me good bye smiling knowingly and I don’t even try to guess what he thought of me but who cares. I was in airport bit too early , everything went smoothly and flight to Zurich where I had connection was uneventful . We arrived quite early and it was very refreshing after 3 weeks in tropics to finally get some crisp cool air on the terminal’s roof. 22nd trip was over, for a change after arriving home I almost did not have jet lag at all, no idea why but it was nice bonus. Day 20 Eventually I become hungry so I went to world famous for late breakfast. Few tables away I saw farang with boy bit past his prime whose face looked somewhat familiar. Alek from Tawan , guy I took to Pattaya at his insistence for few days back in 2016. We did not talk much as he was in company and I did not want to be rude although judging by smile , his farang , himself quite a good looking, did not mind his boy met old acquaintance in such a classy upscale place. Being there I finally decided to visit Patpong Museum right across the soi. Ticked 350 , including 50 baht drink credit and a guide. Since I was only visitor at the moment , it was my personal guide. Then I took BTS to first station on other side of river Krung Thonburi to check new driverless BTS golden line. Only 2 stops, cost 15 baht but first stop is iconic Icon Siam mall. It was very fruitful trip for me as only purchase I made was few dragon fruits red inside. For some reason ones with white inside are much , much popular and I like red as it seems bit sweeter. I’m big dragon fruit eater and it’s my staple when in Thailand and always have at least one in my room. I returned old way i.e. by free shuttle boat to Saphan Taksin. In meantime for zillionth time it was confirmed that world is small place and everybody knows everybody. I got message from one boys I met in Pattaya that he had accident while driving his friend’s motorbike and he was forced to spent his rent money on repairs and was asking for help. So I politely answered that at the moment I can’t help because I have friend who broke his leg and is immobile so I need to help him instead. You may recall from day 15 that it was a case of Namo. To strengthen my case I forwarded a picture of that stitched leg. Answer was bit shocking “ so you know Namo ?” How they know each other remains mystery but I think Pattaya guy once mentioned that for a time he was working in some massage place in Patpong area and most likely it’s how he knew Namo. Who would think? On another hand probably most of us have stories like that to tell. Since I badly needed consolation after derailment last night in meantime I arranged for Besty, freelance masseur I already saw few times to come to my room at 4 p.m. and on the dot he arrived. All 4 dancers were offing material , of course L outshined all but got me worried too- he was only one who did not smile at me even if I was in first row. But hope dies last so when show was wrapping out I told mamasan , one who used to work at Moonlight that I want to talk to L after show. Soon other boy was tipped and thanked to make room for new arrival and I saw L marching toward me with shy smile. Perhaps it’s his trademark because as soon as he sat down he turned out to be clingy and chatty. I broke possible ice right away saying “ I remember you from Moonlight “ ,then continued my normal off liturgy ‘are you going with me?”, ‘ yes’ , ‘long time ‘ , ‘yes’, “do you kiss “ ‘ yes”, ‘ how much you want? ‘ , answer was surprisingly modest in comparison to S’s few weeks ago, not that it would matter as my mind was set although I have my upper limit above which I rather opt for other options i.e. Line V if he is available . New Twilight is pretty generous with boys drinks as they receive 120 out of 350 drink price and that’s paid off as soon as they leave bar. My usual dinner offer was declined as he already ate his and I was not hungry either. Even from 7/11 only thing he wanted was toothbrush but I always have 1 or 2 of those handy we did not even go there as my refrigerator was kind of neatly stocked. What can I say ? It’s real life sarcasm that often we find our gem guys just before we need to go to the airport. Happened to me before , happened to few members as well, happened to me this time. His English is rather good so over few beers we chatted at length about his life, few business ventures, bar life. He is very happy with NewTwilight and said boys like and support each other. Told me about his love of dance and how he survived pandemic and closures and slowly but surely lights were dimmed, shirts shed, showers taken and bit of intimacy commenced. Growing bit of intimacy. No, no complains about lack of sleep, being tired or touched indecently. In view of incoming long trip home all I needed was romantic and sleepless night. And it worked to the specification. Day 19 We waked up to no view in the morning – rain and being 65th floor we were in clouds. It did not last long , by time we went for breakfast it was clear. After he left I packed and took taxi to Baan Silom , 100 baht tip included. Driver had streak of good luck as I picked him up when he was unloading 2 ladies in front of Bayioke and on arrival in soi 3 there was guy who promptly took my seat in the back. As usual in Baan Silom they told me to come in 1 hr because room was not ready so I went to the market only to find it empty. Then I noticed what I already saw, despite being Friday traffic was very low. Guy on reception told me today is Queen’s birthday- holiday, that’s why. So I decided to celebrate in style and took BTS to KMan spa in Spahan Kwai. Quite easy to find as they have sign poking out and above all other signs in soi. Only two boys on duty I was explained but both looked enticing so as usual I picked up one with broader smile. I was informed his minimum tip is 800 and massage just 500 for 1.5 hr because of holiday’s promotion. It was fun. Massage was good , boy, Myanmarese very friendly and very well endowed so we had busy , fun loaded 1.5 hr. My standard tip for 1.5 hr is 1500 so he was very happy with well deserved that. We decided to check New Twilight later on, agreed to meet in front of that bar at 21.15 and we parted ways for now. Barely I managed to enter hotel when RAIN started, quite impressive at that so I Lined reader we better delay trip until it will be over as Bangkok rains , no matter how heavy, have habit of suddenly stopping after hour or two. In the room it was exactly as I hoped for and expected, great body , great thing, great conversation , lots of steam , I was in heaven. What a catch thought I ! I was hoping for more of the same in the morning but it was not meant to be. It was still dark, just pre dawn when wailing started. “I can’t sleep, you snore, you are touching me , I don’t like this , I ‘m tired , I want to go home” this kind of things. I was not that defensive and right away used line I got from another boy Bos from Tawan few years ago “ I’m not paying you to sleep’ , but it did not help much. It was no sense to continue angry exchange in such circumstance , I accepted my dreams being shattered to dust , told him “Ok , you can go” . Gave him his tip and it was painful to see he is counting money, only second time this trip guy tipped was counting money. Complete derailment ! Yes , I know I should reduce tip but I was so disappointed I just wanted it to be over and fast and was in no mood to argue. Short time it would be life time experience to be remembered forever but Long Time was bad idea but who could know? Specially for that kind of money? Few nights ago HC had similar complains but he soldiered on till we missed breakfast. No such danger today as I was up at down , upset at that, so did not even go to sleep. Made my tea and did some reading, smartphoning and tableting . Being upset I did not even feel I’m hungry in the morning. So day 19 did not finish with me singing Edith Piaffs “ Vie en Rose “ (spelling)

I would say around 5pm to 6pm was most crowded. 3 is early. I usually try to get there around 4 because I don't mind waiting. The rate is still 50 for 30min without release. According to the Bangkok Post Joshua James Connell, 19, from Canberra, was walking along a wall near a hotel swimming pool in Phuket before falling six storeys to his death. There is CCTV which captured the incident, according to local reports. A local policeman told the Post the teenager was wearing only a pair of shorts when he slipped and fell, before landing on the kitchen roof of a nearby restaurant. He said Mr Connell and a friend had only checked in at the hotel the day prior. Staff at the restaurant were reportedly getting ready for evening dinner service when they were startled by a loud noise on the roof above the kitchen. The local policeman said some of the roof tiles were broken by the impact of the fall.
