Day 11 Bay View restaurant was not opened yet so for breakfast we went by baht bus all the way to Kiss and despite early ( for Pattaya ) hours they were quite busy, in fact I think we took last free table. We parted ways after that , I went again to exchange money, what else at such a pace and to Internet café to catch with my e-mails. Then some aimless wandering here and there. Early afternoon I took motorsai , just for sake of supporting economy ( 60 baht) to Jomtien Complex to see Nara in his shop for good bye 1.5 hr massage. Driver dumped me on the main road and while passing by in one of massage shops I noticed quite handsome and muscly , heavily tattooed hunk and took note of his presence just in case. But I kept my plan , had massage with Nara, tipped him 2000 as it was our last meeting this trip and invited him for a meal to French restaurant on the corner as I wanted to taste that duck leg mentioned yesterday. It was great but not better than one I’m making I noted proudly. After meals we kissed out good bye, Nara is not shy guy. He went to his shop and I went to look for songtaew but recalled that handsome masseur and decided to see if he is still there. He was so I just motioned and we went inside for another massage, session was good, he was muscular and well endowed , kissy, huggy but there was something I did not like –strange odor coming from his skin. Not smell, not even unpleasant but it bothered me. No idea what it could be – soap, some skin cream or other cosmetic, diet, result of taking some medication or substance , whatever it was , it spoiled my experience. I did not say anything, tipped him my normal rate 1000 / hr and went home bit disappointed as he was prime material for a night long session. Oh well , I need to find some substitution. And I got an idea who it will be, P and R from my first night in Pattaya and yesterday party in Dreamboys. So I freshened up, shaved and went to Pickety for people watching. My yesterday’s guy was busy with guests but it was Ok as my mind was fixed. After finishing beer changed sides to BBB, ordered some drink and asked mamasan about my guys. There weren’t there yet but he assured me they will come as they are at the gym. Oiled with 100 baht tip , he even called them to confirm. P showed soon , R bit later. L , our companion 2 night ago seeing what is going on stopped by hoping he will be third but ‘just two tonight “ I said , consoled him with red note, paid 1000 off fee and off we went to Bay View for a dinner passing by Suwit shop. He was not there but was keeping watchful eye from somewhere because soon after we sat down for a meal I got Line message ‘ two boys tonight my Casanova “ from him. In 7/11 we stocked on few beers and went to the room. Both are very talkative , P more on shy side , R quite opposite , undressed right away as he explained he doesn’t like chain of dress when inside. They told me a lot about their lives and friendship and at one point, I swear it was not my idea, P asked if his brother B whom we met last evening in Dreamboys can join. Holly molly thought I but of course agreed, in few minutes phone rung and P went to pick him up downstairs. He looked even more handsome than yesterday and perhaps most manly of them three , explained by age difference. Thankfully we were well stocked with beer and also few snacks so we feed him and fun continued until time came to go to bed. I had 2 spare towels so showering was no problem but to keep things civilized I suggested I will shower with each of them separately. After all we have two brothers here. Other guys were familiar with procedure from 2 days ago, B, last in line to get wet was visibly shy, I sense he must be new in the business and never showered with customer before but he soldiered on with smile. When we emerged it looked that other two boys not only made some order on the table after all that drinks and snacks but also thought well about bed arrangement reserving right half of bed for us two latecomers. That way brothers were separated by R and me , eliminated any brotherly awkwardness in such a situation. No , we did not have any foursome, that would be gross. I had three guys with me to enjoy their company one by one so obviously at one point I switched places with R in order for P not to feel abandoned or discriminated . In process I understood what it means to sleep with the phone, R literally was clutching his all night. It was fun and thanks to mutual co-operation and understanding we avoided anything we possibly could feel uneasy about recalling it later. Sure R emerged in the morning from under the sheets sporting glorious erection but from reaction of other two it was clear he is not shy in their room either , they all live together in one room with one more guy who I understand doesn’t work in a bar. Morning distribution of tips ended such fabulous day 11, they declined offer of breakfast saying that they have food at home they want to eat otherwise it may be unusable later. Thank you my glorious boys I thought after they left, what a night !13 points

welcome to the forum and sorry to hear you had bad luck with all 4 bars you visited. But let's be honest if somebody has to have bad luck in them it's better you than me. Vaughn is right, try Fresh Boys other time as it seems to have most of your types. How I know? It's only bar I did not off from on my last trip and I like opposite type than you i.e. hunky guys with preferably axe murderer face if available. Don't listen to advice of my friend z909 and visit every bar, including Tawan , Moonlight, New Twilight and BananaClub, You never know what you find and whom you will like (resident twink at Tawan is very easy on the eye IMHO although may be tad too big for you but twink he is ) Check Hot Male beer bar on soi level, few hosts there may suit your taste Situation in bars is dynamic and selection varies from day to day and time of evening too, some boys are taken early and come back from engagements later on. as for presence of ladies keep in mind all bars we are talking about are boy bars , not gay bars so expect girls in them , Their money helps bar to stay afloat too , they may bother you at times but it's the same with for example chain smoking or drunk gays. Don't be discouraged by first evening and try again. Apps may be your salvation but in bars you have real display and smile if any , not possibly outdated pictures5 points

Making Things Click I can make a list of many things, but however long the list it would not explain why Bangkok Guy and I click as we do. Something just works, and to my surprise and delight keeps on working. Since I can’t explain it, I will give the last word to Bangkok Guy. Lounging Thai-style on the deck after lunch at Koh Lipe a self-assured bird struts around hunting crumbs. Bangkok Guy sees me watching it. “Chicken”. “No, I think it is Mynah bird”. “Is chicken”. On my iphone I look up Mynah bird and show Bangkok Guy the picture. A pause, and with a serious “this is fact face” given the lie by a slight smile at the edges of the mouth and eyes “In Thailand is chicken”.5 points

I'm early riser for two reasons, first longer your day on vacation , longer your vacations are. Second, I usually have guy beside me and like some romantic exercises before going for a breakfast. I don't sleep during day unless jet lag forces me to , but even that will be 1-3 hours nap max. depending on companion or lack of him ( rarely ) I go to bed between 12 and 2 . While in civil life I'm party man in Thailand I prefer one on one encounters so partying till , say 3 or 5 is out of question. That's to answer question you had. Now advice you even did not ask for : Avoid any routine on vacation as after while it will be boring, catch the day and do what you feel like doing at the moment, vacations are not to be spent checking watch all the time. If you wake up at 4 am and feel like not sleeping , wake up and have early morning stroll, you will be surprised how different familiar streets are. If you feel like sleeping till noon, don't feel guilty you did even if you lost good chunk of vacation day. They did not give World Heritage designation to Foodland Patpong for nothing , you can have breakfast there at 2 pm as well as 2 am. Nearly 60 and old fart ? What KFC man should say ? Dead already 😄?5 points

It might not be clear to someone new to understand minimum tips in bkk, but indirectly, it refers to what services u can expect masseurs will do. For example, arena has a 700 baht min tip for 1 hour massage, and that includes a hj. Anything more, u will need to add tips. Prime massage on the other hand, has 200 baht min tips, so u cant expect anything extra from masseurs. Doesnt mean it wont happen but unlikely. A min tip of 1.5k above usually means full service. This is usually observe in place like vck. Some massage centers even have diff min tip for diff masseurs, but generally same understanding applies.4 points

Day 10 For breakfast in Complex I have favorite place , French restaurant in the corner opposite Soda massage so that is where we went. They bake baguettes on the site and I saw few people coming and buying them by the dozen. Certainly better than toast. I had regular America breakfast buy Nara ordered some exciting for me dish – duck leg confit. Duck is my favorite meat and at home Sunday’s dinner staple. So that had me already planning lunch together for tomorrow at the same place I told him. For today I plan to stay in Pattaya proper to consume unexpected reunion with Suwit so after breakfast he went to the gym and I returned to Copa to pack and move to Classrooms in the next soi. Girl on reception recalled me from previous stays or at least pretended to based on record they must have in their computer. Room , king bed with balcony was not ready yet so I left luggage with her and went few steps to Paradise where Suwit met me with condemning look which did not stop me from ordering 1 ½ hr massage and his is a good one. Of course he threw again Casanova slur at me but softened the blow by calling me ‘ my Casanova’, that’s something !. Such claim earned him confirmation that I will take him home tonight and not knowing what future brings I asked him to wait for me. Then returned to Classrooms , room was ready , very spacious and comfortable as all rooms there and after basically sleepless night and that massage I felt bit dizzy so made myself a tea and collapsed on the bed for a life restoring nap. In the afternoon I went to exchange money, then to Das Berliner for a schnitzel. Dining alone I felt presence of biguyby our member with whom I dined there several times and who in fact introduced that place to me. Since I left Bangkok I have problem accessing my e-mail on the smartphone for some reason so I went to internet café in soi Post Office but it was closed already so I went to another one just past TukCom . She was almost closing too but promised me at least 10 minutes which suited me well enough. Next stop was to return to Boyztown and park myself at Pickety, host bar opposite BBB, beside Casto , in the place where Oscar used to be. One of their guys was very interesting but unfortunately he was already engaged serving farang and his entourage of 4 guys so I invited another one , quite good looking too who did not waste any time and asked me to go to my room tonight but unfortunately I had already Suwit booked so disappointed him a bit. At one point I thought Chinese tours returned but it turned out to be group, judging by dress , well heeled Vietnamese of both genders who came to see Castro show. They were greeted with quite a reverence by their stuff including performers. Tonight I had plans to see XBoys so at 9.30 I paid my bill, tipped my guy 200 for sitting and entertaining me for good hour if not two and went to Pattayaland soi 1 where Xboys are but there things got derailed. In front of Dreamboys opposite was standing A, former XBoys guy and show performer whom I offed LT three years ago. He remembered me and that off was to Classrooms hotel so I changed my plans and accepted his invitation to go to Dreamboys. I did not even go inside when I notice that at door standing and smiling at me is Soviet, old Cambodian acquaintance with whom I was sitting in Dramboys perhaps 5 years ago, then had massage with him at Royal House and after long hiatus last December we got reunited when I got drunk partying at Sabaidee in BKK and guys there tasked him with escorting me to hotel, where he accepted my invitation to stay for the night. I still recall waking up , half sober only to see naked guy sleeping beside, most likely his easiest LT ever even if we had some fun in the morning. So another unexpected reunion. I invited both of A and Soviet for a drink and as soon as we sat down , me being only customer inside, whom I see in the scene ?. R, one of two friends I was so impressed with two days ago in BBB and who it looks is moonlighting in Dreamboys as well. So fourth drink was ordered and it become dense around me which I enjoyed quite a bit as none of boys was too shy and A is champion kisser. And it was only start as few minutes later P, another of the pair from BBB showed up , another moonlighter there, next Chang on the table and we have fun. In meantime bar started filling up , from time to time guys went to the stage as I warned them loyally I had guy for tonight so they don’t have a chance for an off from me. I noticed one guy who was quite handsome and pointed him to R sitting beside me only to learn that it’s B, P’s brother. What? Call him over. I felt like emperor with court of 5 guys , one more handsome than another. So I ordered second round of Changs, told them it’s the last. We or at least certainly me had great time, sure it cost some money , 11 drinks plus each got 200 tip but it was money extremely well spent. Hugs , kisses and post 11 p.m. I left them certainly disappointed but I have my duties tonight. Suwit was waiting for me in front of Paradise, was not hungry, I had beer in the fridge so of we went to the room right away not noticed by anybody as entry to Classrooms is very discreet , separate card operated door. Good part of night we spent chatting and beering, not exactly dressed . At one point Suwit went to balcony to smoke completely naked and he did not care if he is seen or not. With good body like his he can afford such exhibition. In the dark part was quite energetic, morning exercises lively and then to eternal shame I passed a bit of wind, not particularly fragrant or loud but Suwit not missing the beat commented “ another boyfriend is calling you”. I love the guy ! Such was the end of day 10 and it means at some point past noon today it will be half mark of my trip, no wonder I lost wind control.4 points

Buenos Aires, Jun/Jul 2022
tassojunior and 2 others reacted to Latbear4blk for a topic
After one of my best flight experiences ever, I landed in Ezeiza this morning. I flew to Dallas first, and both planes were absolutely full. However, there were no delays and American's service was spotless. However, the best part was arriving to Buenos Aires. It took me 10 minutes (actually a few seconds less) to go through immigrations (100% automatic, I did not have to talk to anyone), getting my luggage (for the first time in my traveling history I arrived to the claim area at the same time my bag was coming up), and going through customers. Beautiful. The day was a Día Peronista, no clouds and perfectly sunny to warm us up, it is winter here. My airbnb is great, the only disappointment was that I assume the balcony was on top of Plaza Armenia, but actually is at the back of the building. Let me share a few pics. There is even a wine cooler that I am not planning to use. Soon after arriving, I had a great surprise. My brother and his wife traveled from Corrientes only to spend time with me this weekend. So my real adventures will not start until they are gone on Monday. Anyways, if you have been reading my reports, you know that my trips to Buenos Aires are focused on family and old friends, and the adventures are a side note. In the airports in the USA and onboard, I saw very few masks (I traveled maskless), and the few people wearing them was doing it in a totally useless way. Buenos Aires is different. Even when the mask mandates have been dropped, a lot of people are still masked up, even outdoors. I am wearing my mask pulled down, and mask up when I am with someone who is wearing a mask, as a show of politeness and empathy. Palermo Soho was crowded with people taking advantage of the Peronist Day. With my family, we went out for lunch and chose a nearby parrilla, Doña Totally, named in honor of Diego Maradona's mother. The place was packed. I liked the decorations, full of Rio de la Plata flavor: There were no free tables outside, but fortunately we did not have to wait because my 84 years old mother was cold and wanted to sit inside. The food was excellent. Take a look at the prices: We were five and did not drink wine. However, we ordered appositives, main dishes and desserts, and my mother took the left overs because we could not eat all of it. We spent less than 60 dollars. Grindr is not as active as it was in my other Palermo location, a year ago, but it is keeping me interested. Anyways, I am tired and family oriented, I am not sure whether or not I will submit to the temptation.3 points -
Hey guys! I just returned from a month in Medellin. Wish I'd found this forum before I went. Lots of useful tips. While there is a lot of good info here, I wanted to add a few more that I didn't see mentioned which I either knew before I left or learned the hard way there. 1. It may have been said elsewhere, but I'd like to emphasize that you should speak some Spanish. I found very few people who spoke English. Definitely learn the basics and keep trying to communicate in Spanish - translator apps work well and people will appreciate the effort on your part. 2. If your cellphone plan doesn't allow an option for international use - look at Airalo e-sim card. It's an electronic sim. You can download the app before you leave, purchase your sim and have it ready to go when you land. I found out about this when the sim I had installed on an old phone stopped working. Wish I'd known before I left home. 3. Look for a card that allows cash withdrawals without fees. I have a Charles Schwab investor "checking" account. I transfer money into this account and use it for travel. Best exchange rates and ATM fees are reimbursed. 4. Use Rappi - it's a delivery service that will deliver anything - food, medicine, whatever you want. 5. Approach Grindr with caution. Too many guys that seemed too good to be true. Ask for verification photos if you're not convinced. Some words that indicate a financial exchange - liga, disponible, solvente. 6. Use Uber instead of taxis if you can. They are unauthorized, so you sit in the front seat - just a "friend giving you a ride". You can plug in your destination and you know the fare. Their goal is to get you to your destination in the most efficient way, whereas taxis might take the scenic route if they figure out you're not from there. With all cars, close the doors gently. They are surprisingly light. If you use the same force you use at home, it will slam. Taxi drivers are especially unhappy when this happens. 7. Be careful at ATMs - I used the ATM inside of a supermarket. Don't flash your cash. 8. Beware of people slipping you drugs. I didn't read about this happening to gay men (though there were a few gay murders that I think are still unsolved), but I read on numerous forums about straight guys being drugged by women and ending up in the ER - of course with their valuables gone. While I had ZERO problems there, the hotness and availability of the men might lower your normal sense of caution. 9. Look for a local to show you around and help with your Spanish. I paid a guy to be my tour guide. He threw in some extras. I had the best experiences with him. Met him on Grindr. 10. Have fun. Medellin is a beautiful city and the people are lovely. Keep your wits about you, show some cultural sensitivity, and you'll have a great time.3 points

I'm not saying no, but not this trip as it was my last night in Pattaya and I returned to Bangkok as we learn when I post next day later today (or tomorrow for those who are in different time zone ). While I liked those two multi boys nights I must state that my preference is still one on one . Multi boys may be more fun but one on one is more romantic. That gives me idea for next time if they still be there and I find them still attractive - dinner together than drinking in the room for fun part , then boys sent away with exception of one designated to be romantic partner for that night. Why I say " if I find them still attractive " ? This is a life . I don't meant particularly those three but most likely most of us experienced it in the past . Guy we salivated about last trip , all of the sudden doesn't seem to be so glorious now even if nothing changed. Or even worse - he doesn't seem to pay any attention to us, avoiding even eye contact or pretending we never met. Of course it works both ways, guy previously overlooked now shines like a star and one who sported blank eye then, now is all smiles and winks. Actual off seems to be often breaking point. I used to have big hots for certain model offed him twice despite some antics on first off and only after 2nd time when those antics were repeated I realized that hots are gone for good. On another hand X featuring in my trip stories never paid any attention to me when he was in bar to extend then in order to off him I searched help of another member but after first , somewhat forced off we hit it on with multiple repeats. No double my handsomeness is the factor, otherwise what it could be ?3 points

Just an update.. project # 1 is a failure.. I invited him to go on a burmese bar last friday but he just seen zoned me I tried again last saturday and offered to give a good tip and just sent me a sticker.. then I messaged him again with a sad emoticon and he sent me a voice message in thai.. It was like "I have no time krub.. I have work in the morning and have to work until night.. I have no time..".. His tone was very apologetic and he sounded sooo sweet ughhh.. That made it even harder for me to move on.. So I finally admitted that I think he is cute but he just seen zoned me again :(.. So earlier I was had to play sports and on my way home when I was a few meters from his kiosk.. He seemed like he was glancing towards my direction as if he is checking me if I was going to pass by his kiosk.. The ladies at the kiosk across called his name as if to warn him that I was about to pass by.. When I passed by, he had a customer but he kept glancing towards the direction where I was.. I think he was just pretending he was looking for something just to avoid me I know that this game is lost already and I have to move on and respect his decision but I'd like to hear what you guys think? Should I try another approach? Also, I have project # 2 which is a waiter/cook in Amarin Plaza foodcourt haha I haven't made any move yet but I'd like to hear some ideas on how to approach this guy.. Should I act cool and straight first just to not scare him? Or should I leave some hints already that I like him? Amarin Plaza is going to be closed for renovation in two weeks so I kinda need to move fast here haja3 points -

I was able to make it to this tonight and the atmosphere was festive for sure, though I do gather it's a similar atmosphere as usual. Unfortunately I don't have any experience of the Complex so I had nothing to compare it to. I got incredibly lucky with Grindr and met up with a man who was intelligent, sweet, handsome, sexy, experienced, and manly at the party tonight. So, I will always have fond memories of this event.3 points -
right ! It was time when I was one of them , LOL I even know somebody who offed him very recently and is extremely satisfied with experience. Different people are looking for different things , be it muscle, bulge, ass, face , personality, bed or massage skills and any combination of those. Even with our own preferences at times we can be in the mood to spice life with change. Certain KFC man likes hunks but is known to off twinks , even up to three a bed as was seen kissing with very diminutive Lao guy. Over year I dragged few members , known twink lovers to Tawan, some run away screaming , some surprised themselves with liking the experience even if not necessarily guys on display there. Sure Min has a point , what kind of model chubby guy is ? , but all that model game at Moonlight is just a spectacle , not a talent agency jamboree.3 points

Are there any "Gay" bars left in Bangkok?
tm_nyc and one other reacted to Newcomer999 for a topic
Hey Guys I am new to this forum- -Just visiting Bangkok for a few days after some years and the other night I went for a meal in Soi No 4. Balcony Bar. It was busy and the food was good. Quite a few eye candy to look at- though most seemed to be already paired up . My preference is slim cute guys who can bottom. So I decided I would go to a few bars and I started off with Jupiter: Jupiter Bar As I arrived at this place not ong after opening time I was the only customer and having waited to be served for some minutes a waitor come and basically shoved a drinks menu in front of me.It seemed I was doing him a great favor. Whilst i was waiting I could see some of the go-go boy muscled types who appeared to be on a surfeit of steroids. I made my excuses and left. I had a few more drinks at Balcony and then continued. I found myself in Patpong so I decided on- Freshy or is it Fresh Boys- This bar definitely had more my style but most of the cute ones were already occupied with a few customers who were monopolising the boys with drink parties. A couple of mama sans tried to persuade me to have a boy sit with me. The first MS was a kind of grosteque ladyboy type; the other mama san looked spaced out with bad breath. At least during my conversation with her or is it him she told me "all bottom boy go off already". My drink was 350 baht. Next- Dreamboy This was was quite busy , a lot of women customers too. The majoirty of the boys looked like they had been recruited from local construction sites. Must of been about 30+ boys working. A waiter who I had known from years back told me the out of all the boys there only a couple could accomodate my preference. He pointed them out. Neither were suitable. So I moved on. I crossed the soi and went to : Hotmail This was the worst of the lot. A watered down drink was 400 baht. A show was in progress and all the performers were clearly straight boys. The main sitting area in the bar was dominated by a gaggle of females who were being entertained by the cock teasing "men". Male customers being ignored. I actually asked one waiter was this bar for gays or for women. He tried to say it was for gays but when I pointed out that most of the customers were women he just gave me a blank look. Enough was enough. I returned to my hotel which fortunately was nearby. Can anyone here recommend a supposedly gay go go bar that has more gays inside than straights???2 points -

Id say move on. Since u have a new target, focus on that. To be honest, if u dont have much time, direct approach might be better. If not acting now means not getting anywhere anyway, might as well rip off the band-aid and see. U miss 100% of the shots u don't take. If u want to go slow early on, u will need to be direct in 2 weeks anyway hehe.2 points

Don't know what they are doing now but Arena used to be pretty upfront about what the minimum tip was for various levels of service. I think it was even stated on their website. As for the OP's question, Thailand gets so many foreign visitors that new arrivals might not know what the appropriate tip is. From comments I've heard from masseurs, certain nationalities are regarded as poor tippers &, of course, some individuals are just very cheap when it comes to tipping.2 points

That’s not your profile. It’s profile for those you don’t want to meet. Lol 😆 Twinks, sure, but why do they have to be skinny? I think Vinapu’s right: improved nutrition is responsible for decline.2 points

most massage places have it just to ensure boy is properly compensated . It also indicates that more than massage is available. In some places I noticed boys have their individual minimum tip. Don't assume that for minimum tip you can do with him whatever you want, some will offer just hand job, some will go all the way but is always will be more than just a massage. I use my own rate 1000 / hr, 1500/1.5 hr but if minimum tip is higher I pay higher rate. ( I see spoon answered thread at the same minute so hope I'm not repeating what he says)2 points

floridarob and one other reacted to vinapu for a topic
I see an advantage to such situation as you had most day for your self with option of returning to the room and cuddling to the boy at any time but I agree, it's not workable for longer term , day or three , yes but after that I'm not surprised you lost your patience. After all , like one of Tawan boys nicked Bos once remarked in the morning in our Raya room when I asked him if he got good sleep : ' no , but you are not paying me to sleep". Too bad two fabulous guys on my last trip did not know they rule and ruined my dreams ( still to be reported )2 points -
better not considering that saints on icons are mostly dead and I don't even start with me being saint. as for comparison of Bangkok and Pattaya parts of trip, yes Pattaya was more adventurous with all those crowded beds but Bangkok guys were more hunky so at end of day I think I liked Bangkok better, no surprise here.2 points

Another member reported that Banana Boy Bar is open again (soi 4), when I last visited that gogo before Covid they had more of the cute slim type. I'm not entirely up to date on the type of boys and situation in that gogo at the moment though. You should also try Fresh boys again earlier in the night and you might have better luck, sounds like you might have missed out on the full lineup. Hopefully Lucky Boys will open again soon.2 points

Non-sex tourism advice please

I would recommend Krabi, by long tail boat round to Railay Beach, a promontory walled off from the mainland by mountains so you have to take a boat around. No roads so no cars or motorbikes, lots of life though, good resorts and many bars and restaurants. Try Sand Sea Resort for lovely rooms. You can even go rock climbing if you fancy it.2 points -
This trip was planned in outline by Bangkok Guy and then refined by me as I encountered the reality of logistics in Thailand. All air routes pass through Bangkok, you can’t simply fly direct city-to-city, and this consumes a lot of time. It was not possible to fit Bangkok Guy’s top three destinations into ten days and we settled on two, Chang Mai and Koh Lipe, with an overnight transit stop in Hat Yai because the flight arrivals and boat departures do not match up if your starting point is Chang Mai and you have to travel via Bangkok. No Covid issues this time. Bangkok Guy is double-vaccinated, Moderna as the second shot, bright eyed and looking forward to our trip. He has been helping his sister sell durian ‘It good business’, except his sister likes durian and eats some of the stock, which amuses him. As I am with Bangkok Guy and not having daily bar-scene adventures I have experimented with the format of this report. Rather than write the report chronologically, after an initial touristic overview I have structured it by themes. As usual we visited the jazz bars. I still can’t find a calendar of who is playing where, which is frustrating. We tried the Crimson Room for the first time and found Norwood Young and his band were the act. He was excellent, great voice and quite a showman. Bangkok Guy loved it, so we returned after our travels but found a Thai singer who was good but not Norwood Young. Bamboo Bar was excellent as always. As in January Peter the resident pianist (I could listen to him all night) was backing Thai vocalists who were good but did not have quite the lungs and range of the vocalists in January. This was a disappointment to Bangkok Guy who particularly likes vocals that you could dance to if there was a dance floor. Bangkok Guy informs me that if you can’t dance to it, it “old people jazz” (which he still likes). Our first night in Chang Mai Bangkok Guy was excited to go to the Sunday night market. He loves markets. It was large and fun. In addition to the shopping there was a lot of activity at Wat Chedi Luang. We bought flowers to offer and, assisted by a monk, Bangkok Guy hauled a water container up a rope pully to tip over the ruined chedi. We returned to our hotel very late and Bangkok Guy discovered the night security guard was a guide (Bangkok Guy chats to everybody), so the next day he took us on a tour of the temples, a great restaurant in a garden by a reservoir, and shopping. The low tourist numbers were painfully obvious in the shops-geared-for-tourists to which he took us. Large complexes in which we were the only customers. Koh Lipe I highly recommend, but we will not be returning as Bangkok Guy did not like the hour long boat ride. The route is a two hour ride in a van from Hat Yai to Pak Barra on a good road, followed by an hour in a speed boat to Koh Lipe. Picture a gutted cabin cruiser with one large open space holding seating for around 30-40 people and four massive outboard motors. On the way there the sea had a slight swell which resulted in some exciting bumps even with an experienced driver, which in turn lead to a few cases of mild seasickness, one of whom was Bangkok Guy. Despite a room right next to the water with a view-to-die-for, excellent food, great snorkeling and it generally being a great place, Bangkok Guy did not forgive the seasickness. On the return trip the sea was like glass and it was wonderful. Still no forgiveness. I would return in a heartbeat and will try to bribe Bangkok Guy with the Idyllic Resort which we found just down the beach from our resort. “We can move here?” he asked hopefully. The attraction was air-conditioning versus fans. The return flight to Bangkok was an hour late due to weather. Approaching Bangkok the turbulence was uncomfortable – Bangkok Guy gripped my arm like a drowning sailor while I played at being calm and stoic. The cause of the turbulence became clear after the pilot made a U-turn into the landing approach. We had skirted a sizeable thunder storm with lightening the likes of which I have never before seen – massive, thick, bright white bolts that made me visualize pools of molten glass wherever they struck. After washing off the day’s travel at the hotel we headed out to Silom for Issan food. I got the feeling that Bangkok Guy is not often in this part of Bangkok anymore, several times he was not so sure finding his way around, and this was one of these occasions. No Issan food where he expected it. We ended up at Fork and Cork, which we liked. Since we were in the area, why not visit Jupiter? I wanted to see a show and Bangkok Guy was happy to go along as he likes the Jupiter guys more than I do. He likes buff. About ten guys in great shape. Good acts. A very thin crowd. Four or five young women front row at one end of the stage, two small mixed groups along the right-side front row, three guys on the left side and Bangkok Guy and I seated a little further back. However Bangkok Guy did not get into playing the ‘Which guy you want?’ game and his body language became stiff. When I suggested we go he almost leapt from his seat. I have not taken him to a bar since the very early days of our relationship, wanting to spare him any possible loss of face at being perceived as a ‘boy du jour’ and possible discomfort if I too-visibly found a guy attractive. Although none of the guys really appealed to me, the longer we stayed in the bar the more uncomfortable he was, particularly as I was trying to figure out if I thought #86 was attractive or not (conclusion, yes) causing my attention to be too focused. Bangkok Guy and I are firm fans of Baan Suriyasai and that did not change this trip. We tried the Blue Elephant and while I would recommend it there were many people, so not a private dining experience, and it is a fraction Euro-centric. The wait staff automatically focused on me, while in Baan Suriyasai they focus on Bangkok Guy. The limopattaya were great as usual, taking us to-and-from the airport and also around Bangkok in the evenings between restaurants and jazz bars. For the first time ever on my departure Bangkok Guy decided he would keep the hotel room and check out after breakfast the next morning. I left him happily snuggled under the duvet.2 points

Communication My name is being called urgently with the cute mangling of a consonant that tells me it is Bangkok Guy who wants me. We are due to go snorkeling in ten minutes and ensconced in reception with a coffee, a sea view and my laptop I have lost track of time. Bangkok Guy knows that I sometimes loose track of time when I work and he is rounding me up. Just as I nudge him along when we have an early start and get the inevitable “mpfh, few minute” as he smiles and snuggles back down (I know from experience he will be more-or-less on time). As I stand it feels like a knife has gone through my intestines. I have been eating higher-spiced local Thai food for over a week now and my stomach has begun to protest. Eating Thai food with Bangkok Guy is like eating with a highly vigilant food taster. It is a cannon of his belief that Falang cannot eat spicy food and he needs to protect me from it, steering me away from particularly spicy dishes and weeding out particularly hot peppers. My stomach is telling me he has a point, and I reluctantly tell him to go snorkeling without me. A day’s break from each other turns out to be a good thing. He has a great time exploring the waters off several islands with the instructor and a Thai couple, a welcome rest from having to think in English. I spend the day in a hammock reading, enjoying doing precisely nothing. We decide to have dinner on the beach at Idyllic, an up-market treat of fresh-caught fish accompanied by a very good singer/guitarist. Bangkok Guy shares the instructor’s pics of the expedition, great shots of him with many colorful fish. And then we sit and stare at each other because we have run not out of conversation, but out of words. It’s not the first time, and after this many days together it is becoming obvious. Because we observe each other we understand each other well in simple things and we are in tune with each other’s mood. However, if we are going to keep moving forward we have to improve our ability to communicate. It is not the first time that better communication would make things smoother. A few nights earlier Bangkok Guy decided he was going to sleep cuddling a pillow, not me. We both enjoy cuddling, so this is surprising. “Why cuddle pillow not me?” “Pillow small” ?? “I take pillow” and we wrestled for control of the pillow until we are laughing so hard tears are rolling down our cheeks. Bangkok Guy likes these contests of strength which usually occur over the remote or preventing him from tickling me and I always win, eventually, but not this time as while I have the two arms with which to pin him down I lack the third arm required to seize the pillow and the contest ends with him grinning at me over the pillow, reveling in his triumph. None of which explains why he is cuddling the pillow. Feeling a little hurt I decide to sleep on it. With Bangkok Guy if I do not understand something time usually reveals what is going on. I wake in the morning way over on my side of the bed with the pillow hard against my back and Bangkok Guy asleep on the pillow. I turn over and find I am cuddling the pillow and am pleasantly in contact with Bangkok Guy. “Pillow small” now makes sense. It is very comfortable and, as the light of understanding breaks I see it solves two problems that have been causing us to sleep apart and not sleep well. The hotels in both Bangkok and Chang Mai had covered duvets, not a separate duvet and sheet. Bangkok Guy likes sleeping under the duvet but after some time cuddled up close under a duvet I get too hot and, without the option of separating the duvet from the sheet, we end up sleeping apart. To compound matters, this trip I am snoring more because I have let some of the Covid pounds I got rid of before the January trip slip back on. I could do with loosing ten pounds. The snoring is not the issue as much as the dribbling from sleeping open-mouthed. The pillow is comfortable, Bangkok Guy and I are in physical contact, I am not over-heating and any dribble is on the pillow. Bangkok Guy has discovered an effective heat and dribble barrier. Life would be smoother if he could communicate that to me. We agree that by my next trip I have to master basic Thai and Bangkok Guy needs to improve his English. If anyone has any recommendations for how to learn Thai, please let me know.2 points -
Day 11 is highlight of my trip and it is all thanks to @flashbarryallen New friend that I met yesterday and we clicked on so many levels. He went to Arena for massage and as I happened to be at Foodland Patpong for lunch when he just finished his massage, I waited for him. He arrived and ordered @vinapu favourite dish and we started chatting about his interesting plan for tonight but we moved on to other topics and we chatted about practically everything like two school girls. I think we ended up chatting for at least 5 hours. We adjourned to Starbucks to chat and then continued chatting at my hotel room. All totally unplanned with one thing leading to another very spontaneously. Before he arrived in Bangkok, he had contacted Tawan to suggest a special jockstrap night. Guys would be in jockstraps and there would be a competition for top 3 guys in jockstraps. @flashbarryallen would sponsor the cash prizes. I think the owner and manager didn't really believe he was serious. That's why they didn't promote the event on their Facebook page until just yesterday. While @flashbarryallen came up with the grand idea, he hadn't done any detailed planning and that's how I ended up being the accomplice. The critical Singaporean in me started going into the nitty gritty and I asked him questions. "How are you giving the cash prizes?" "Ermmm.. in envelopes?" "How is the voting done?" "Get the audience members to raise their hands? Write on pieces of paper?" Oh my gosh! This fellow is heading for a disaster!2 points

I grew up listening to Elvis and my mom loved him. She saw him in concert many times. I still remember the day he died. My mom cried all day, my sister and I was devastated, and the world almost stopped. I am looking so forward to this movie.1 point

Hi Vinapu - I imagine that they are chatting with each other - and the reason that they are glued to their phones is because they need the Google translator program to communicate between them. cut & paste the native text and then transmit in their respective language the message. If it is not that - then perhaps they are selecting guys from the apps for a 3-some or 4-some later in the evening....1 point -
I liked Bowen Yang in this. He was pretty good.1 point

I think you’d be better off on the apps. Bangkok is a great town and one of its assets is that it welcomes all comers into its bars, whether predominantly gay or predominantly straight. And neither do they employ weight restrictions. You have just a good of chance of finding the overweight as you do the underweight. On the apps you can discriminate till you heart’s content.1 point

I'm awake early and head down for breakfast around 6am as I just can't sleep in, after breakfast it's off for a walk around Lumphini park and then back to hotel to freshen up and then head out for the day. I may have a rest mid to late afternoon and then head out for the evening at about 6pm, usually back at hotel by 11pm after having some short time fun (one or more short times, just depends on the night and mood).1 point

Day 13. Wake up, Pool, brunch, leg massage, afternoon nap, netflix, dinner and finally to Hotmale beer bar. I managed to get the waiters to go to my room to drink after bar closing. Alas, at 11.45pm, one of the waiters said, "Sorry I cannot go drink with you. I have customer book me." What? He knew that I didn't believe him so he took his handphone out and showed me a bank app. 2000 baht transfer. To prove it was real, he pointed at the time of transfer. 11.39pm. Happy waiter went to get changed to meet his customer. Once one waiter backs out, the others also back out. It was close to midnight and I believe I could still pop into any of the gogo bars and get an off. But I was so flummoxed by my ingreduos situation and I just decided to call it a night. Back in the room, close to 1 am, I got a message on Blued. This led to a Cambodian guy coming to my room via a few exchanges of messages. ST 2k. Nice guy and a lifesaver of Day 13.1 point

When T and I arrived at Tawan, every Tawan guy was already in jockstrap! Crazy atmosphere. About 10 or so customers. Some of them could not believe what they were seeing. @flashbarryallen was seated in centre with some Tawan guys and 2 bottles of Jack Daniels open. T and I went to sit with them and were given straws. The judging had already started. 3 Tawan guys would go up on stage at a time and flex and pose and audience members gave them straws if they approved. Lots of creative ways to give the straws. Yes, The Vinapu Tuck was seen several times. There was a Tawan staff acting as the host and dictating proceedings. After all Tawan guys had their chance to showcase themselves, normal Tawan show started - ladyboy singing, big cock show, etc. But today's show is shortened to make way for Final Round of Jockstrap Night. 4 Tawan guys with most straws in first round were invited on stage and audience members had a wild time giving their straws to their favourites. Top 3 revealed and @flashbarryallen and I presented 1000-baht garlands on the winners. We also invited a farang customer to give out one garland. Wild racuous night. Everyone enjoyed themselves. Lots of tipping by the two debaunched individuals who had organised this event. Both used up all 100-baht notes in wallets and pockets. At midnight, bar had to close. T and I accompanied @flashbarryallen back to Raya to make sure he got back safely. He had been drinking non-stop the whole night. As we were walking along Surawong Road, Tawan bottom guy shouted "Hi" to us as he rode his Vespa scooter past us. Cute guy is smallest size among Tawan guys and he genuinely enjoy being bottom in the shows. Satisfied that @flashbarryallen was alright, T and I went back to hotel room for our time together until the next morning.1 point

Z 909 is right. Use Bolt Taxis (cars not motor bikes). For those not in the know it is a new version of Uber. I used them many times to travel all over the area and from my condo (near Sunne) to Jomtien was 60 baht. The same price as a motor bike taxi. Agreed it may rise. Car always arrived within 2 or 3 minutes and of course is door to door, unlike baht buses.1 point
