I'm joining long chorus above with the same advice, it's not a way things are done in Thailand although when I was whoring locally where I live it was standard practice here. I was never in 22 trips asked to advance payment by the boy. Only massage places sometimes are asking for payment for massage up front but that's it. I had a case when mid long time boy asked me for advance partial payment as he was hungry and wanted to go to buy something to eat. I gave him half of negotiated fee hoping he will not show up at all as he smelled like an ashtray up close but after about 1 hr he disappointed me by knocking into door. But he was a gentleman and himself suggested I reduce his final payment because he left me for so long. It's not to say I did not pay in advance there. When with the guy offed previously often I put money on the table saying it's for you in the morning but it never resulted in any reduction in services and time - who would risk losing such generous and charming client anyways, LOL

Day 3 was spent shopping and lazing by the pool. Saw a gay couple twice at hotel - a big sized farang and an Asian guy. Once in morning at hotel lobby taking taxi out and then in afternoon. They were lounging at cabana couches when I went to swim. Too shy to approach them and didn't want to interuppt them. I also saw one of the Chinese customers from New Twilight last night walk into hotel lobby as i was going out. He had distinctive hair at the back tied up like a sumo wrestler. He was probably coming in to meet his friend who stays in the hotel. I was on Grndr but no luck in getting anyone over for fun. At 10pm i made my way to New Twilight. Only one middle-aged lady customer but she was a regular and only had one drink so no one bothered her. She was there just for the show and mamasan would go to her once in a while to chat with her. Mamasan led me to my corner seat. I asked for my half bottle of Jim Bean. Waiters went to get it from bar counter and also brought mixers. Cost of mixers was 350 baht. Complimentary platter of snacks provided. Now about last night, I found out an interesting tidbit. A customer who was there on the last night of his two week trip had brought the entire bar out for supper after closing at midnight. Mamasan showed me the photo of 20 of them (waiters, mamasan and boys). All happy smiling faces. In fact, after waiter guy ended his ST with me, he went off to join them. He had the same photo in his phone and happily pointed at himself in the photo. This customer was not one of the Chinese customers who ordered bottles last night. He was low key and discrete but what a generous treat he gave to the staff! Tonight was a slow night. Slowly, customers came in. By the time the show started at 10.30pm, there were fewer than 10 customers, most were alone. There was a group of 3 Japanese or Korean customers but they were content with their single drinks. No bottle service in bar tonight. Only me finishing my bottle from last night. Customers were here for show only. No invites for guys on stage to sit with them. Show was essentially the same except for change in sequence for some performances. No. 28 whom i fancied yesterday wasn't in today. There were two new guys (one Camnodia and one Thai) on their first day today. Mamasan pointed them out to me but they weren't my type. Besides, i had already told waiter guy that I would be offing him. After show, i happily went off with waiter guy. While walking back to hotel, he said he would not be working tomorrow which piqued my interest about a possible LT. Unfortunately, he had early morning ride to Pattaya to meet his friends on his precious off day. They had arranged it weeks in advance. So looks like LT with him must be another time. ST tonight was even more passionate than last night. Kissing, sucking in 69 position and fucking. Was totally spent that i fell asleep after session.

Tonight, after parting with a boy, I sampled two more go-go bars, Hotmale in Patpong 2 and Banana Room in Silom 4. That means so far I have tried every go-go bar in Silom (Moonlight being the exception) during this trip. Hotmale (400B for soft drink) has a decent selection of boys (about a dozen) but their home-made shows appeared to be customer-repellent At the beginning of the show (around 10h45), there were 5 groups of customers, who then took turns to leave, one by one. After 4 performances, I was the only one left and they hadn't even moved to the f*cking show yet. I then decided to leave too (it was too uncomfortable for me to stay) and the show ended just like that I then moved on to Banana Room at 11h25. There was also a show going on, a drag lipsync, then the big cock show with only two participants. Then shows ended and all the remaining boys came back on stage (6 of them). 350B for soft drink, 350B for boy drink, 500B bar fine, 2000B for boy ST, the usual deal. Bar closed a few minutes past mid-night. Banana Room is the third bar I visited where boys were in underwear the whole time (the other two are Tawan and Winner Boy in Pattaya)

Do not use Agoda to book The Agate. They charge £37 which is 1591 Baht. I have just booked a room direct with them by email for 1000 Baht per night. A big difference!

I have a condo on the top floor of an 8 storey building in a residential area of the city. Until I started making life difficult for the management company - which otherwise is actually very good - no one paid any attention to fire. Every time I raised the issue at the owners AGMs, I would be told that all the apartments have smoke detectors (but no sprinklers) and there are fire hoses, extinguishers and emergency lighting on every floor. But the main staircase is completely open all the way up the building. There are stairs at the back, but everyone just left those doors open, especially the cleaning staff. It took me 3 years not only to persuade everyone, management and some tenants, that these had to be kept closed and there had to be Fire Exit notices in red on each. Only after I said I would pay for the latter myself were they finally put up. Then there is the issue of fire drills. Again it took about 3 years but the management did organise an excellent demonstration by the fire department of what to do in case of a fire and how to use the fire equipment. 9 out of 50 owners/tenants turned up. But the twice a year fire drills I have consistently sought have never happened. Nor do we know where the evacuation assembly area is. A majority of the residents here are Thai. It is perfectly obvious they have not the faintest concern about fire. And I expect this is true of much of Thai society, alas. I have always had my own extinguisher from HomePro in my apartment and I expect it should not be difficult for fires in individual apartments to be contained within the units at least to enable everyone else to get out of the building - assuming the fire alarms continue to work!

Like others have advised, you should be tipping them for the opportunity even if they are agreeable to being groped. I would also wonder if, these being karaoke type bars rather than gogo bars, there is more resistance to being seen by their mates as the one being groped. Many of them may be straight, and even in such environments, have all sorts of macho hang-ups. Perhaps the best thing to do is to off the chosen guy anyway and then in the comfort and privacy of your room satisfy your hands. Nothing says that offing must necessarily lead to full blown sex. Naturally, the boy should be compensated with a rate similar to any other off.

It is not normal. Possibly the boy had a bad experience when a cutomer did not pay him after sex. But that is not your problem. And anyway maybe he perfomed badly with another customer and non payment or lesser payment was justified. Leaving payment to the end is an incentive for the boy to do well; paying up front is the opposite.

I wonder where in the West we had 7 gogo bars within 5 minutes walk staffed with dozen or two guys willing to go to our room for 2 hrs session for 70 USD ?

I was in M2M, Jomtien Complex, tonight to watch their Monday show. It was good, highly energetic as usual. There is one dancer who looks hot and I think he's also the best dancer of the night. The boxing ring and the bars you are talking about are on the left as you walk into the Pattaya Beer Garden...which does superb food...and overlooks the bay. Excellent venue. The Pattaya Beer Garden is still open but those bars have been refurbished and the boxing ring has gone. I also offed one of the boxers from there about 10 years ago!

Just talking to my Filipino boyfriend today and we plan to meet late this month after my visit to Thailand. He was talking about homophobia in the Phillipines etc and it made me remember the time in Pattaya where I came across "homophobic guys in a restaurant in the soi bukhao area ,two men and a lady farang all drunk of course decided to move away from our table citing description profanities , I didn't even get into a conversation with them,but peculiarly they chose the table right next to ours despite their being umpteen tables to choose from,it didn't concern me as the Thai boy I was with didn't understand a word they said ,he was completely oblivious to it 😆 That was like 2009? 2008 So times have changed Have you ever experienced this ? As far as i remember it was once only in 20 years of coming to Thailand I have never been to the Phillipines and don't plan on holding hands or anything as I said to my Filipino friend. I think times are changing and young people nowadays are much much more tolerant and educated about gay people . Schools are teaching about transgender & gay partners etc and I think it's great , I think the only times you need to be wary of is straight guys our age who are not brought up to accept gay people. The younger farang are much more accepting and with tiktok etc there is much more awareness , but people our age 50ish ..60ish etc are still held back in time And I think another thing too, if your a older man with a younger partner I think people still think that is strange, particularly if your partner is say 30 years younger than you . I was reading the comment section of a tiktok video a older gay man in his late 50's with a Filipino boy in his 20's , unfortunately some of the comment especially from middle-aged females were horrendous describing the Farang guy as you know what that starts with P.

nothing wrong with that but with exception of Nice Boys as mentioned by vessey above any touchy -feely activities in bar should be limited in scope and time as to avoid embarrassment. For mode detailed exploration I think you still should off guy either to your or short time room and have your fun there. Anyways when we have boy sitting with us in bar for extended period of time they should be compensated for that not just by buying them a drink but also tip of 100-300 baht depending on time spent and what you do . Reason for that is that by inviting them we are removing them from a pool boys available, depriving them a chance to be offed by somebody else. Last night was about 10 guys at most. If you are looking to see 20 guys, i think more likely on weekends. I can go with you. You are welcome to ask any guy for drinks or off but stay away from my waiter guy as long as i am present!

spot on analysis. There were, in fact, some people and banners about political issues, especially gay marriage, legalization of sex work, but also and critically, issue 112. My Thai friend I was with, who is very royalist got very upset about that, asking what that had to do with gay issues. I tried to explain that gay issues are very political indeed in many respects and have always been ever since pride became a thing some 50 years ago. Prime example is gay marriage, doesn't get more political than that. But also various freedoms including a general freedom of expression and press freedom, which is let's say underdeveloped in Thailand (for 112 reasons, among others) and which the younger generation yearns for, gay or straight. But such arguments count for nothing for the "conservative" people if some holy thing is being involved.

I’ve just checked the Ambiance on Booking.com. I entered a stay of 7 nights in a couple of weeks and the price for that starts at 4600 baht. This is for their cheapest room - there are larger rooms going up to 14000 baht for a suite. 4600 is 657 a night - this seems a real,bargain. The place apparently has been refurbished. There are no negative reports on Tripadvisor.

The possibility of an evening fire in DJ Station or anywhere else in that soi with its extremely narrow entrance is a disaster just waiting to happen. Why the fire department is not more strict re emergency exits etc. beats me. Remember the Santika nightclub fire in 2009? Emergency exits again closed or blocked. 67 died in that fire.

Probably the biggest problem is the language barrier. How to make your intentions clear if you can’t understand each other? Places like Pattaya or Bangkok will probably be your best chance, where waiters and bellboys in establishments frequented by gay customers probably know the score. I have read in the past about guys who even managed to hire str8 Muay Thai boxers. However, this was from a place just outside Walking Street in Pattaya. Until a few years ago there was a bar, located on the left as you exit from Walking St onto Beach Road, which had on the premises a Thai boxing ring. This was intended as an attraction to punters; they had exhibition matches of Thai boxing. The bouts were pretty fake from all accounts. After the bouts, the guys would go around soliciting tips. If you gave them a few 100 baht tips, it would get their attention. I remember reading about a guy who started buying them drinks, and eventually after much compliments on how muscular they were, and telling them what a fine "puu chai" man they were, etc, he was successful in enticing them to his hotel hotel for some compensated fun. Not sure if all the guys were up for that option, but that uncertainty was what made it more exciting for those that partook in the chase. However, I believe that bar is now closed, and your chances of success in this might be somewhat different in the rest of Thailand, most of which wouldn’t happen to have a gay sex district within 200 metres, as that boxing ring had.

Le Meridien does give you a small bottle of mouth rinse per day. You can find it in the bathroom, right below the sink. So the waiter also asked for the same tip as the floor boys?

I was in there 2 weeks ago. It would be chaos in a fire. So full at times it was like a rush hour subway carriage. You literally couldn’t move anywhere.

Show at New Twilight was good. They made use of LED wall effectively. The same show found in other bars is now enhanced through technology. Pity the pillar in the middle otherwise there would be an unobstructed view. Two energetic dancers danced with lip synching ladyboy. She did Beyonce and Annie Lennox (one of my favourites!). I am much the same, walk very quickly and use the travelators to beat the others from my plane as well as many others but I find it frustrating when 2 or more people block the travelators and make it harder to get past. About 20 spectators, between 3 and 8 guys on the stage in t-shirts and jeans, only after show chests shown. All handsome more or less. It seemed most new faces compare to 2 weeks ago but quality maintained. Volume initially ok, after show less so. Show well choreographed and executed, no nudity.. One face combined with tattoo looked familiar. Lucky, former Moonlight model not seen on the scene for quite a few years. Confirmed with Mamasan. Lost a lot of weight but still handsome Drinks 350, boy, s same same.

With no checked luggage, I made it from sky bridge to City Line train in about 20 minutes, most of it a welcome stroll through the sorely missed familiarity of Swampy (and I say that with affection). The ride up the escalator at Silom was a near emotional experience after a 26-month period of deprivation.
