Mid May, I planned a short visit to Bangkok after a business trip. Thailand Pass was easy to get, even if converting all pdf’s into jpeg made me waste some time. I’m a big fan of the Raya hotel on Surawong road, so I booked the Executive Suite on the top floor. It was a bargain for such a nice room : 2400 baht per night. I took a night flight from Europe, so I arrived in the afternoon local time. Passing immigration was very fast, so after buying a local sim card, I took a taxi to the hotel. Day 1 : start with a massage and visit the bars I prefer to start all my trips with a nice massage, so I went to Silom Soi 6 where you now have several shops next to each other. I think all shops offer the same services, so it is best to take the masseur you like most. I selected a Thai masseur from Natural Massage. Very good massage skills and very willing to earn an extra tip. I left very happy, to have dinner in La Dotta, a nice Italian restaurant on Convent Road. In the evening I wanted to visit all the bars. I started with The New Twilight. I see 2 problems with the bar: location and clothing. The first one is the location: easy to find for regular visitors of the bar scene, but totally impossible to find for newcomers. The boys were wearing some kind of uniform: jeans, blue shirt and white sneakers. Well, not really a uniform as all had different ones. In other bars, boys are shirtless now. About 10 boys on stage, average looking. Not so many customers, but they had one beside me who ordered bottle of alcohol and was pampered by the staff. When you've visited Patpong bars, it is worth a visit, but not top priority. I liked Golden Cock, but this bar does no longer exist and the small bar at the other side of the street doesn’t appeal to me. I would have loved to go to Lucky Boys, which was my favorite during my 2020 trip, but that bar remains also closed. So I visit the other bars in the neighborhood : Dream Boy, Fresh Boys and Hotmale. The show at Dream Boy is boring, as the level is far below it used to be before covid. Decent selection of boys in all 3 bars. Drink price 350 baht, except Hotmale where I paid 400. Returning to my room after midnight, I noticed front door of Raya is locked, so you have to take the elevator in the inside parking lot.

I was in Winner Boy Bar yesterday, quite early, around 8.30 pm. There were about a dozen boys in underwear and 3 other customers (6 at the time I left). There was one boy, who came to work and stripped down to his undies just to pull up again to go with a customer. It happened that fast Soft drinks 89B, boy drinks 150B (boys get 50B per drink). You can buy a bucket of ping-pong balls, 20B apiece, and throw them at the boys Boys get 10B for each ball they get hold of (just to be clear: I'm still talking about the ping-pong balls). When I left, there was an elderly farang (the bar owner?) at the door who thanked me for coming. I went again to New Twilight last night 2nd night in row Show slightly modified with 1 new number. Few guys which were missing yesterday. My goal was to off one if guys performing in the show and not only I did , but landed in heaven in process. Like other 'karaoke' bars, Friendly Club is basically a 'Host Bar', you call a boy down to join you, and his job is then to entertain you for the next hour and drink your whisky haha .They can just talk to you, dance with you, flirt with you. The level of flirting may depend on how drunk you both are, and if the guy likes you or not. What you are not going to get is the sort of sexual groping you might get in some of the boy bars. Keep in mind that the 'typical' customer in these places are Thai girls, although most boys will happily entertain male customers. These are mostly straight guys working here, and although some may be happy enough to be 'offed' and go back to your room with you, not all will want to go down the gay-for-pay route. If you just want to have fun and party late into the night with handsome/cute Thai boys these are absolutely the places to be and in Pattaya, Friendly Club is, IMHO, the best of them!

I just recently learned about the different classification of host jobs (both male and female) in Thailand. "N" job means the host is just expected to entertain you (e.g. drink, talk, watch a movie, eat) "NV" or "N" strong. This I am not 100% sure but based on some translations, the host is expected to do drugs with the client, get kissed, groped, touched in intimate areas but still no sex. "VIP" job means sex is expected at the end of the job. I had a local acquaitance who showed me a thai forum wherein you can find various classifieds and field reports of local thai boys doing N, NV and VIP jobs. Sadly, I was too drunk to get the web address and do not know how to contact him anymore. Adam Massage on Soi 4 is open and has an all male staff. But I recommend talking with the guy you have in mind to be sure you’re on the same page before committing. It’s a well-run shop with adequate rooms and lock box (shower down the hall and tea/water after. 400 1 hour a week ago). Bangkok Massage remains closed. Unsure about Arena.

There is, sort of, a similar service. The owner of El Sillón Rojo has opened up a "massage" studio one block west of the club. You need to book an appointment but there are several masajistas to choose from once you arrive. Massage plus "services" cost 100-180K COP so it is easy to do the math. I will grab the details and add to the Medellín listings later this week. They have been actively posting to Grindr during this trip.

This thread is rather appropriate for me as I am due in Thailand in 2 weeks time to start my trip initially in Pattaya and see how things develop. During my last 3 trips I have stayed at the Zing and can echo Olddaddys endorsement, that it was, pre-Covid, very good value and gay friendly. It has a reasonable sized pool which is well maintained. In the Complex I have also stayed at the Agate, which was more expensive but still good value. Then there was the Poseidon which I think is 100% gay with no female staff. It’s restaurent has a very good reputation. It had a rather unique indoor pool in which you swim against the pumped current which very much amused my boyfriends. Before I moved to the Complex I very much favoured the Ambiance in BT, which as we all know, is a Gay Pattaya icon, with its confusing maze of corridors in which it’s easy to get lost. If a boy or friend comes to see you there it’s better to meet them at reception, otherwise they could get lost without trace. The only other hotel worth mentioning is the Sansuck Guest House, which like the Baan Souy, is remote from the action, but with a motor bike it could suit some, being part of the sauna complex. As to direct booking against the agencies I was once told by a hotel that you get a better room with direct, but I don’t think this applies generally.

I had a fantastic experience at a dental clinic (Smile Dental?) in Siam Paragon shopping centre. I'd go back in a heartbeat. I also get a facial (of the tyoe you're talking about!) when I go to Thailand. In Bangkok you'll find lots at Siam Paragon. In Pattaya there are lots in Royal Garden and Central Festival shopping centres. As for exercise, I go for a walk every day. I live on the coast and there is a walking path right across the road that goes all the way along the coast for kilometres. I put on my headphones and off I go.

Except for Fake Club, I think it wouldnt feel awkward going to these host bars alone. Just be prepared to shell out a little more money though as some of these bars sell drinks by set (e. g. in Buzz, beer is sold by threes and starts from 1,000 THB) But there are bars like sit2sis who still sell drinks per bottle.

Category 2 may lead to disappointment. After a non-sexual massage in Patong, just as the place was closing around 1am, I negotiated to take my masseur off. I Skipped Sunday and Monday at the saunas because the previous week they were lackluster. Tuesday was pretty good at 117, especially if it would be your first time there.
