I'm Vietnamese myself and to me, Viet boys are still the cutest (pardon my patriotic biases). In my experience, most Viet boys who work in a gay bar are straight and coming from rural areas in Vietnam, especially the central part (read: conservative and narrow-minded). So even when they are "reduced to" selling sex to men to earn a living, they still want to keep the illusion of "being a man with dignity and all" (I'm talking about this from the perspective of a Vietnamese). There is also peer pressure. Since they all got into this line of work through friends and acquaintances, they kinda know each other, forming a fairly close-knitted community with well-kept secrets (of course nobody in the village back home know what they actually do in Thailand). And in that community, no one wants others to know that he can be anally f*cked by men. I see this in Vietnam too, many times. Some boys let me top them for more money, but made me promise I don't tell their MB peers about that. On the other hand, there are now quite a few Viet boys who work freelance on the app in Bangkok. They are mostly gay, taking good care of their appearance, very accommodating in bed, willing to do many things, and for less (they still earn more than what they normally do at home though). I just ran into two of those in Silom road the other day. They even solicit in street in broad daylight, approaching me with "massage offers" without knowing that I'm Vietnamese too. Not sure if you still remember but we met once in the old Twilight zone about 4 years ago and then you took me to Fresh Boys to meet some Viet boys working there. What's a night. As Floridarob recently posted, you can waste a lot of time on the apps. Prefering to do business in person, I dabbled in Grindr and found Only one guy I met with. And he I recognized from seeing on stage in a Silom bar. I follow a simple practice: 2K ST is the going rate in BKK and I expect no more than two hours. If that’s unacceptable, I move on. For me personally, endless bargaining ruins the fun. I’m not, after all, acquring a Persian carpet or fake Rolex.

Talking about freelance MBs and their asking prices, my experience is that MBs in commercial areas in Bangkok often ask for 2000 ST and quickly settle for 1500. Others, who are not MBs "by trade" but don't mind some extra income and often live outside these areas, tend to ask for 1000 ST. There are always exceptions though. Last night, I talked to a boy on Hornet. He quoted "1500" and I'm thinking that's reasonable, no haggling needed, he added "but no sex". Excuse me? I hadn't had a chance to ask "then what would you do to earn that 1500", "with sex, it's 2800" and while I was still reeling from the shock, "per hour". I asked how he came up with that number (well, 2800, not the usual round number like 2500 or 3000) while aptly slipping in some info for perspective that even the model-like well-toned guys in Jupiter only asks for 2500 for short time (up to 2 hours). He came back with, and I quote, "USUALLY people give me 5000 per hour". That still doesn't answer my question about the specificity of 2800 and also gives rise to another head scratcher "then why you asked me for 2800 only." I suspect that the boy somehow ran into someone like our dear Vinapu and then that encounter became the yardstick against which all future transactions would be measured (sorry Vinapu, I know that you are not into twinks but I need a case in point everyone can relate to ). Anyway, I thought I must miss something because, IMHO, the boy looks cute but not THAT cute (18 yo, 1m72/50kg) and all of his Hornet pictures are photoshopped anyway. So I asked for his insta account and checked it out. Wow, pictures and videos galore. He looks more like a lady boy in those pictures and videos (heavy makeup with hairdo, dress, and whatnot). A total disillusionment for me, not for him.

I tried BT House Men Massage (20m walk from Saphan Khwai BTS) yesterday, around 19h30. They only have 2 boys on-call, one looks cute in the picture so I asked to see him. Since the gap between picture and reality is so big, I had to pass Walked back to Saphan Khwai BTS and decided to check out Kman spa as it's right next to the station. Two twinks in picture caught my eye, but one already quit last month while the other was not in the house. Mamasan, who was nice, said if I can wait for a few minutes (which, in my experience, could be anywhere between 10 and 60 min), he would try to contact the boy and tell him to come to work. But with the incident earlier with BT, I turned down his offer, don't really want the boy to make the effort and then had to say no. That's what I love the best about go-go bars despite the cost: I can see the real person instantly and make a better informed decision.

I can give a thumbs up to K-man spa, a massage shop located a few steps from Saphan Kwai BTS stop. It’s down a small soi on same side of road as Big C (directional on FB site). What I particularly liked was the policy of identifying masseurs’ preferred role (“top” or “top and bottom”) on its FB site. It’s been my experience they serve as good indicator of what customer can actually expect. standard room with massage table with shower down the hall. There’s a small lock box in room. They also offer a VIP room. The room I was taken to was on third floor. Small bottle of water on arrival. Manager shows you those available on tablet. In some cases, boys not on site can be called in. You can also request your choice in advance by phone or email. Shop also operates second site , KK Massage. I can avoid girly bars easily so no harm done

My days in the bars and with money boys ended quite some time ago. I therefore have no interest in what going rates are. That said, I have nothing whatever against money boys. They provide a service and are making a living. Good on them, especially if the service is great. However, being based in Bangkok I notice that there are so many boys available on the apps who are not money boys and whose only interest is in a good time with some good sex. Bangkok being a large city, most will ask for transport if they are coming from reasonably far away, but few request taxis. Sometimes a nice dinner is accepted, but far from always Having a partner, I don't take them up on offers. But my partner knows that I do meet up with guys when i travel, but again not money boys. In Tokyo, Taipei, KL, Singapore and more recently in Danang there always seem to be plenty of boys looking for an older farang. On my last trip to Singapore I was merely lying on my bed after a rather heavy lunch when a young student clicked on me. Turned out he was virtually passing the front door of the hotel. Well, what was I supposed to do? I had a good time. I fully realise that non commercial guys are not always available when a visiting tourist wants to hook up. Many are students or young guys with jobs. So outside of Thailand I do not expect hook ups till early evening. So far I have rarely been disappointed.

I visited Gannymede Spa near Paya Thai BTS laSt night at 7.30. Only 2 boys to choose, semi athletic both. Wery well maintained institution, shiny and clean. Massage wS, very good but somehow afters despite my clear overs were not offered. Perhaps I'm not attractive enough. So I left both disappointed and happy with envigorating massage. Bit costly, 900 for 1,5 HR session and 1500 minimum tip. Puts 5000 long time requests by some models in a favorable light I guess.

Right now there are about 15 Vietnamese guys working. Most are at FreshBoys. A couple at New Twilight and a couple at Jupiter. I think you’ll find their English is greatly improved over the last few years. I know most of the Vietnamese in Patpong and fortunately don’t have the issues Z909 has. As with all working guys there are those that will and those that won’t. Let’s just say that right now the off rate for Vietnamese is very good, To the point they have all been offed on the same night at FreshBoys several times the last couple of months. There are enjoyable evenings to be had.
