Phuket nightlife and massage
dscrtsldnbi and 2 others reacted to vaughn for a topic
I had to delete my trip report, but because I started this thread seeking answers I wanted to at least provide an update on the Phuket scene in early April. 3 or 4 boy massage shops were open, but only 2 with any real selection. Blue Dolphin massage and 4massage, these two shops are in the middle section of the complex towards the Paradise hotel. Cute twinks were rare, but the boy next door and more toned guys are more common along with some heavier boys. 10-15 boys across both on any given afternoon, prices were standard 300-400 per hour + whatever you arrange with the boy in the room. 5 or 6 host bars are open in the bar street, with maybe 2 dozen boys that stand around in a group (possibly waiters?) at the start of the soi. I didn’t really spend much time at the bars, I went one night at 8pm and there were 6 or so customers spread out along the bars. I seemed to be largely ignored by all but one boy who wasn’t my type. The one boy who sat with me and chatted seemed to be looking to be offed but I wasn't into him and I didn’t really want to walk up and try my luck with the others. The layout is similar to Jomtien complex, with bars lined along each side of the soi. An outdoor drag lipsync show from 8:30-9:00. I left at 10:00, and the bars closed at 12:00 (still under government covid rules). I was told by the boy that Friday and Saturday nights have more people, so I might have just been unlucky. I stayed at Le Meridien Resort Phuket, it was nice and bringing back guests is fine, but it is more of a family-oriented place and not very convenient location-wise.3 points -

Exactly! I don’t get why some clients (current or potential) don’t get this. Viagra like a lot of pharmaceuticals are available at any farmacia in the DR without a prescription. Just go up to the pharmacist and ask for Viagra and pay for it. There are at least two farmacias on El Conde alone, even more all through Zona Colonial. If you’re not bringing your own stash on the trip, go get your blue pills when you go to the ATM or to get a cup of coffee. Clients looking like Thomas Jefferson or George Jefferson expecting young hot studs to show up to their hotel rooms / AirBnBs all turned on with massive erections. Oy vey! OK, even if you resemble George Clooney, Chris Evans, Ricky Martin or Michael B. Jordan (and if I had a nickel for every time a poster said they were “handsome and fit”…), the same rule applies! (P.S. The garotos at the saunas in Brazil and Barcelona also are all using viagra to maintain those hard dicks. Don’t flatter yourself.!3 points -

Possibly. But not for certain. It’s normal practice in Latin America to check the ID of any unregistered person going to an hotel room. Just bear in mind that hotel staff have ALREADY seen EVERYTHING in their working lives. So live your life to the full and don’t worry about what others may, or may not, think.2 points

Just came back from Bangkok and it has definitely changed due to Covid... Patpong night market is GONE Went by Khaoson Rd on Sunday night...the club side was great....the other street with all the restaurants and massage parlors...super quiet and slow My favorite massage spot in the area didn't make it nor did the one I frequented near Patpong Great shopping as always, Chatuchak Market was lively and very busy on Sunday Malls are still amazing although MBK has also changed dramatically... I have about 8 massages in the span of 6 days including the first night that I had to wait for my test results... Overall a great trip... Looking to go back soon... No hot sex, as usual since I am not attracted to Thais and NO happy endings...Im sure I could have got that...1 point

The fee for the LTR visa, which allows you to stay in Thailand for 10 years, has been reduced from 100,000 to 50,000 baht. Changes to the visa requirements could make the lucrative “digital nomad” lifestyle a more realistic option for foreigners who wish to work remotely in the kingdom too. Ratchada said the potential LTR visa applications could include wealthy foreigners, retired foreigners, foreigners with “special skills” and their families (spouses and no more than 4 children under 20 years old). LTR visa holders are allowed to apply for work permits. To apply, the applicant must buy health insurance covering at least US$50,000 to cover medical fees for at least the first 10 months of their stay in the kingdom OR a social security certificate covering medical expenses OR a cash deposit of at least US$100,000 in a domestic or foreign bank account for 12 months before applying for the visa. “High-income” foreigners who wish to apply must have an annual income of US$80,000 for two years prior to applying.1 point

On many trips to Phuket, I also stayed once at Le Meridien, thinking that it would be nice to have a basically private beach. Totally agree with @vaughn. It's a hotel for families and the location is not convenient. I have never returned.1 point -
You haven't had a problem in SE Asia because I don't think any countries/cities have special additional taxes. Tokyo has, though. In addition to the standard government consumption tax (VAT) and hotel's usual service charge, there is a special city nightly charge of around $1 - $2. The last is almost always collected by the hotel in cash and does not always appear on booking sites. I understand it is some sort of tourism-related charge. I have been to New York many times over many years and have always had a city per night charge. Sometimes this is prepaid and sometimes added on check out. I have also been in European countries where a special city nightly tax has been levied. As I understand it, these charges are often added with only a short period of advance notice and the nightly rate can also change without much notice. As the website https://ec.europa.eu points out, "In many cases occupancy taxes are payable in person, and cannot be included in the pre-paid price of the accommodation." It adds that these nightly occupancy taxes are being adopted by more countries. Niggling little things like this also piss me off if I am not told about them/do not know about them in advance. If I was to register a complaint on Tripadvisor, I'm not sure where I would make it because it is not the fault of the hotel. Is there a special agoda section for complaints? But considering the amounts are so small relative to the actual cost of the rooms, making a fuss over it seems to me a waste of time and effort.1 point

I spent 3 weeks on my first trip (many years ago now). And split that time between Bangkok, Pattaya and Chiang Mai/Chiang Rai. I agree that given how long it takes to get there and back that it makes sense to stay as long as your time and $$$ budgets will allow. Best time for weather is usually Nov to Feb but it can be a little unpredictable these days. My first visit was in September and there was a bit of tropical rain but not too bad. JL's business class ex JFK always looked nice but I used to fly CX instead back in the day. Now that Hong Kong has gone down the drain though that's not really much of an option at this point. Thailand's a big country. Plenty of things to see and do depending on what you like. If you're just going for the boys that's one thing. But there's also lots of history, beautiful scenery, nice people, way too spicy food. 🙂 I think for first time though getting a little taste of everything is worthwhile if you have the time. I've never really been to Phuket or any of the islands but I know some people really love them. I would suggest Bangkok, Pattaya and the North (Chiang Mai and surrounds). Check out Paddy Doyle's YouTube channel. He just finished visiting every province in Thailand on a moped.1 point

I was just looking at Agoda last night for hotels in NYC. And you had to check on the booking screen to see what was included in what you pay Agoda and what you would also have to pay at the hotel. Some places included taxes in the Agoda price but other separated them out to be paid at the hotel. It's needlessly confusing and inconsistent. And don't get me started on these ridiculous "destination fees" that so many hotels have started demanding on top of the room rate for things that should be included in the rate. It's all quite maddening. I get that the past couple of years have been tough, but they should be honest in their practices instead of all of these extra mandatory fees they dishonestly pile on.1 point

I think they are doing just fine. As of last week, they're the only bar where jeans are off. They're also utilizing the space for massage in the mornings. But their announcement has lost something in translation.1 point

NOTE -- This article claims that Thai Pass will be discontinued June 1. From The Thaiger Thailand’s once-mandatory Covid-19 tracking application “Mor Chana”, or Doctor Wins, will be discontinued from June 1. Mor Chana was once commonly used to track coronavirus cases and notify people if they had been exposed to Covid-19. Mor Chana, which was launched on April 29 2020, used GPS and Bluetooth to track the movement of users, who were expected to use the application to scan a barcode to “check in” to venues during the height of the pandemic. In January 2021, health minister Anutin Charnvirakul said anyone who contracted Covid-19 without having previously downloaded and used the app would be subject to up to two years imprisonment and a fine of up to ฿40,000. The threat was criticised as unfair on people without smartphones. However, over time, use of the Mor Chana fell out of use and many venues no longer expected attendees to “check in” using the app. Yesterday, Mor Chana made an announcement via Facebook that the application will be discontinued from June 1. Mor Chana didn’t provide reasoning, but the move is thought to have something to do with Thailand moving towards declaring Covid-19 as an endemic disease. The Thailand Pass is also expected to be discontinued from June 1.1 point

You shouldn't feel bad because it truly isn't your fault. When I joined this forum a few years ago it was filled with sooooooo much helpful information with regards to overseas travel. I honestly couldn't have been so confident in my travels had it not been for this forum and the informative posts by the members. Again, I am a member of a lot of STRAIGHT TRAVEL groups on other social media platforms where the men travel for sex and surprisingly they have the same issues. I come back here from time to time to read this forum and see what I can glean from new posts. You should do the same, my friend. I'm sure you're excited to share and help as others have done for us, but trust NO ONE. If we want these models to feel comfortable with us, we have to give them a little more respect and privacy. Although our intentions might be pure when posting, we now know that there are ppl here who will misrepresent the truth for their gain and intentionally disrupt these models home lives because they have no life of their own. Continue to post, just be mindful and strategic in what you post.1 point -

3 truly muscled guys? Now u make me want to go lol1 point

I am not sure I can give any more details as I am pretty vanilla in that area. The guy it I originally chose was not the one who had it out. But has a most normal body of the lot. He was having trouble at first until his friend handed over a cellphone for aid. As vassey mentioned you can suck them, but it's open for all to see. So also depends on you if you're not shy. I would assume anal sex is out, but I could be wrong.1 point

Came to the bar last night. 3 guys on stage had it hanging out, another 4 were busy with their phone. 4 customers including me. At first i was uneasy by the "lady" mamasan, but i just ignored her. Thanks @Vesseyfor the price information, i followed it to a tee. Except i did order them drinks while they were sitted with me. Tonight will try the bin thing. Price is really different from bangkok. Bring cleaning wipes if you prefer to be handson. They dont seem to have running water. But i came from a 3rd world country so I can manage.1 point

The treatment these guys and manny endure is disgusting. A lot of these guys are gay for pay, married, have girlfriends or families who don't know about their side hustle. So imagine a disrespectful tourist texting at odd hours of the night and in the early morning hours asking for nude pics or videos non stop. These guys go all day, 12 hours or more, answering questions from someone who has no intention of ever visiting RD. Manny has every right to raise his price. He provides PROTECTION, DAMN GOOD SERVICE and QUALITY GUYS. sure some guys get to the apartment and can't get those MASSIVE DICKS HARD. that's why you take a trip to the pharmacy in the colonial zone and buy the strongest dose of viagra, give them 30 mins and watch those ELEPHANT TRUNKS RISE TO THE OCCASION. GOOD LORD, I just made myself horny thinking about the new guy MANNY INTRODUCED ME TO, KING DONG! Give those young studs a viagra and they will walk around your apartment all day with a LONG, STRONG, HARD DICK for you to suk and PHUCK! From what I've been told, the going rate for an escort In the US is up to $300 or more. That's for one hour and the guy count every minute and might not get erect either. If you go to RD you're only paying about $125 for Manny and some good Latin dick. Sounds like a WIN WIN SITUATION in RD if you ask me. Like @SolaceSoulsaid, "guard your reputation with the locals. Also, guard and keep your contacts PRIVATE. Especially, if you have a good rapport with these beautiful, well hung men. They are truly some of the kindest ppl you will ever meet and get to know. 20220327_184320.mp41 point -

Off topic from your specific question but you can map hotels on Booking, etc, to assess quality. However if the airbnbs you like are vacant before and after a single occupied night you have negotiating clout if you book for a longer period. You can message a host with your plans and request and they may cancel and refund the guest blocking you. It will show up in reviews as a cancellation done by the host but it would be up to them to weigh the pros and cons, one of which is single nights may mean more group party revelling, and greater wear and tear on the unit. They are taking advantage of the platform by pre-empting a host’s chance at better bookings when hotels are the accommodations historically set up for one-offs and more vigilant about controlling group occupancy. However, I have found sampling a range of airbnbs on a single trip a worthwhile endeavour to get a solid subjective impression of preferred places to stay on subsequent visits, but committing to at least 3 nights per place as is likely a reasonable average length for hosts, or even having a double-booking overlap. Plunking a single hotel night within the sequence obviously an additional hassle.1 point
