Day 0 After some grueling and stressful months dealing with job responsibilities and the current state of the world the day has finally come to pack up a suitcase and be on my way to sunnier shores. On the itinerary are lots of sunny days and hopefully even more sinful nights with a day or two of work in the São Paulo offices of the local branch of my employer thrown in. I am writing this report mainly for two reasons. Firstly I have been an avid reader of this forum for a long time and the tantalizing escapades from prolific members have always fascinated and entertained me. Consider this my small contribution to the chorus and may it inspire other currently silent readers to go on their own trips and write their own reports. Secondly I am writing this report as I tend to be a person that overthinks a lot and getting stuck in negative first person narratives has long been a toxic trait of mine. On top of that I build up expectations of things and scenarios in my head to a degree that reality can never fulfill leading to inevitable disappointment. My hope is by recording my experiences in this public and yet anonymous way I can step out of these patterns, live in the moment more and use my writing as a place for reflection. But enough of the deep shit for now and let’s talk about the trip preparations. Back in January this year KLM and Air France offered business class flights from my base in Europe over Paris to Rio at about 1200€ that was just twice as much than the Economy rate. I didn’t hesitate long before pulling the trigger setting me up for about three weeks in Brazil to live out these fantasies I have been carrying around for so long. Since I am newbie I decided to make it easy on myself and booked a room at a nice hotel close to the beach in Ipanema for the first week instead of chancing an airbnb stay. Afterwards I initially planned to hit Iguacu Falls but helpful members of this board recommended it for another time due to low water levels at the moment. Heeding their advice I am probably going to stay a couple days on Ilha Grande instead before heading to São Paulo for mostly work and then finally returning to Rio for a bit before flying back home. In these weeks I plan to hit up both saunas in Rio and the one in São Paulo for some fun, do some sightseeing and just relax as much as I can. And maybe if I hit it off with someone in Rio I might offer them to accompany me to Ilha Grande, though I understand that is not recommend MO for first timers. Now that the stage is set on to the trip.

I am looking forward to reading your trip report Taikonaut. Thanks for making the effort, in my opinion trip reports are the best part of this site. I’ll be particularly interested to see how you get on in your trip to Ilha Grande. That is a side trip that I’ve been considering for my future travels to Rio. Taking a guy there is something I’ve gotten very tempted to do also, although, like you, I had a feeling maybe it was not the best idea for a newbie. However if you take somebody I’ll be fascinated see how it goes.

Bogota’s all-male strip club for men (men-only) is located one floor above the Saint Moritz sauna. From Channel News Asia HONG KONG: Hong Kong is set to resume international flights from the United States, Britain and seven other countries, the government said Monday (Mar 21) as it announced a loosening of some of the world's toughest COVID-19 restrictions. The quarantine period for arrivals from abroad will also be reduced to seven days. The flight bans, known as a "circuit breaker", would be lifted from Apr 1. These were put in place after the highly transmissible Omicron variant emerged in January, with the restrictions initially covering eight countries deemed high-risk - Australia, United States, Britain, Canada, France and India, Pakistan and the Philippines - and later Nepal.

I dropped in on my final night in Bogota, three weeks ago. I actually arrived early as I was in the neighbourhood. The bar is operating back to normal -- many new dancers in the roster along with the ones from the website. The early evening is a popular pre-game for groups of friends looking to meet up before clubbing. That goes until about 11:00pm. After that, wave number two consists of those looking for trade or catch the sex shows. The dancers were very open about soliciting dates after the club closes at 2am. Arrival was smooth. Once you had all your Test and Go paperwork, it was an easy ride in from the airport. The advantage of landing around midnight. I ended up in the Quarter in Silom. After almost 2.5 year absence I am back in Thailand. I arrived today. Test&Go scheme. I am not into writing trip reports so I won’t do that. But I would love to write down some things that I would have loved to have read before departure. The PCR test results wait time can be speed up to only a 1 to 2 hour wait time. I had my test and I asked the lady when will the results be ready? The answer: “tomorrow morning”. Then I asked what it would cost to speed it up. They said you can arrange with hotel. Back at hotel the hotel staff called the clinic and I think 1 hour later I had the result. Negative. Price for speeding it up: 3900 baht. This gave me one extra day of holiday because I really had written the Thursday off. Considered it a day of quarantine. Around 21.00 I went on a tour to Sunee and Boyztown to see what bars are open, what massage places and if it is busy or not. Here the results of this scientific research. Of the 3 parallel roads that make up Boyztown only one is alive. It is moderately busy. Not very busy. The boys are not my number 1 or 2 type to be honest. There is at 21.30 a live show on the street in Boyztown. Of Sunee’s two parallel streets only one has some activity but very very modest. Maybe after 21.00 it gets more busy. I doubt that however. But the single street that is alive in Sunee is it only barely. Then I also went to see what massages shops I normally visited in the Tukcom and Boyztown areas are still active. The massages places near Boyztown, along that big road where the baht bus goes, are about 50% closed. Maybe even more. Didn’t see any boys outside in the ones that were open. Tukcom has still massage places with boys. SomJit for example still exists. Jomtien is the most active. Massage is open. Bars is open. Good activity. Happy my hotel is there.
