Midnight closing for Jomtien gay bars torpedoed
floridarob and one other reacted to reader for a topic
From Pattaya Mail By Barry Kenyon Strong rumours circulating last week that a provincial governor’s edict had softened the 11 pm closing time – to allow a full extra hour of indulgence and frivolity – were shown to be very wrong after police raids at the Jomtien Complex. Police major Kongpol said that concerned members of the public had alerted the authorities to serious breaches of the licensing laws which could well compromise the government’s health policies. Officers visited every bar, checking paperwork and ascertaining that the safety and health executive’s certificates on display were not forgeries. Management, hosts and imbibers were reminded that 11 pm remains the closing time and that the British loophole of “drinking up time” is not a phenomenon found in the Land of Smiles. The Jomtien Complex is a (mainly) one street venue for open-to-the-street gay bars of which about ten are currently open. A police statement after the raids stated that they had been ordered to stop service at 11 pm in accordance with national and local decrees. Bar owners said everyone takes these raids with equanimity as they are “part of the scene”.2 points -

First few days back in Bangkok
AlexThompson and one other reacted to caeron for a topic
Arrival was smooth. Once you had all your Test and Go paperwork, it was an easy ride in from the airport. The advantage of landing around midnight. I ended up in the Quarter in Silom. Central, solid, cheap. Only real downside is they are doing construction and it is noisy during the day. Test took the full 12 hours. I was sampled at midnight at the drive through, but didn’t get my clearance until just before noon. Masking up everywhere, including on the open street is a bit annoying, but it seems like things are otherwise beginning to get back to normal. No night market, and many places still closed, but a solid core still open. Bars aren’t enforcing the mask mandate at all, though given how few customers there are, it felt very safe to me even so. I hadn’t expected I’d feel comfortable to unmask. Frankly, I felt far more uncomfortable being the only patron in several I visited. I could have my pick of the boys, because everybody is looking just at you. If you like being the center of attention, now is the time to go. Bonus for me, no Chinese ladies. Dreamboys: I was the only customer, I think. Maybe two locals. Two other foreigners came in and left shortly thereafter. About 18 boys, good mix of types. One guy, however, looked like he was on the other side of 40 and pretty used. I wondered what his story was that he was trying to make it as a go-go boy. Freshboys: Again, no customers, I didn’t stay. (400baht beers add up) About a dozen boys, towards the twinkier end, though lots of tattoos. Moonlight: 6 boys, but all that perfect jock muscled look I love. Could have offed any of them. Will return. Had about 3 other customer groups, so very light, but not entirely empty. Attentive staff. Jupiter2018: Sad. I’m not a fan, but about 6 boys, half of whom even in the show didn’t take off their shirts. Most wore mask shields (boys weren’t masked anywhere else) which we know do nothing so not sure of the point. Had maybe 4 other customers. Half the boys didn’t make eye contact when they walked in front of you. Just stared into space. Guys were hot enough though. Tawan: As bad as I feared. 2 Guys, muscled but fat, both probably 40+. A few more in the place, who might have been guys on offer, but they’re fully dressed sitting by the sides, playing on their phones. In the dim room, you can’t really see them, and they never even looked up, despite the fact that it's pretty clear that having a customer is rare. Place is tiny, but since there’s no one there, I guess it doesn’t matter. I drank my expensive beer and left. I took one for the team. I don't suggest you bother unless you're a complete muscle nut. On the plus side, visiting some tourist places I hadn’t been before. I recommend both the flower market and the amulet market for a fun bit of exploring. Icon Siam for those who like ogling temples of consumerism (a $1.65B dollar mall). The Thursday Muay Thai fights at Rajadamnern Stadium were fun. I stayed through the first title bout, but the Thursday card runs from 6pm to something like 10:30pm, and the next title fight is the last fight of the night. Fights are thursdays and sundays.2 points -
Day 0 After some grueling and stressful months dealing with job responsibilities and the current state of the world the day has finally come to pack up a suitcase and be on my way to sunnier shores. On the itinerary are lots of sunny days and hopefully even more sinful nights with a day or two of work in the São Paulo offices of the local branch of my employer thrown in. I am writing this report mainly for two reasons. Firstly I have been an avid reader of this forum for a long time and the tantalizing escapades from prolific members have always fascinated and entertained me. Consider this my small contribution to the chorus and may it inspire other currently silent readers to go on their own trips and write their own reports. Secondly I am writing this report as I tend to be a person that overthinks a lot and getting stuck in negative first person narratives has long been a toxic trait of mine. On top of that I build up expectations of things and scenarios in my head to a degree that reality can never fulfill leading to inevitable disappointment. My hope is by recording my experiences in this public and yet anonymous way I can step out of these patterns, live in the moment more and use my writing as a place for reflection. But enough of the deep shit for now and let’s talk about the trip preparations. Back in January this year KLM and Air France offered business class flights from my base in Europe over Paris to Rio at about 1200€ that was just twice as much than the Economy rate. I didn’t hesitate long before pulling the trigger setting me up for about three weeks in Brazil to live out these fantasies I have been carrying around for so long. Since I am newbie I decided to make it easy on myself and booked a room at a nice hotel close to the beach in Ipanema for the first week instead of chancing an airbnb stay. Afterwards I initially planned to hit Iguacu Falls but helpful members of this board recommended it for another time due to low water levels at the moment. Heeding their advice I am probably going to stay a couple days on Ilha Grande instead before heading to São Paulo for mostly work and then finally returning to Rio for a bit before flying back home. In these weeks I plan to hit up both saunas in Rio and the one in São Paulo for some fun, do some sightseeing and just relax as much as I can. And maybe if I hit it off with someone in Rio I might offer them to accompany me to Ilha Grande, though I understand that is not recommend MO for first timers. Now that the stage is set on to the trip.1 point

Big 3 down in the south: Chile, Argentina, Uruguay

Uruguay has no secondary city in July. If you were in summer, you would go to Punta del Este, a beach city. But in July, stay in Montevideo. I love the city, but it bores me quickly, it is not the endless all day long of fun of Buenos Aires. I insist on visiting Colonia del Sacramento, you can set it as a stop in your transit between the two capitals. It is an urban excursion, nothing to do with nature. Colonia is a city that changed flags several times during our many local wars, and a historical preserved town. The colonial fort is beautiful, the Spanish colonial architecture around is usually seen as exotic by Anglo-Saxon visitors, and you can have a very good parrillada in the many traditional restaurants. I would usually take a ship between Buenos Aires and Colonia, and a bus between Colonia and Montevideo. Argentina has two all year long secondary cities: Rosario and Córdoba. I would probably recommend you Córdoba, as it is the most contrasting difference with Buenos Aires, in landscapes as well as in culture. Even the Spanish accent is unique there, and it is a Mediterranean city. Rosario is just another Buenos Aires in a smaller version. If you were visiting in summer, you should go to Mar del Plata, the most popular Argentine beach city. In July, definitively go to Bariloche if you want the experience of a nordic European winter in South America. Even artisanal chocolate is delicious. There are several cities that may be interesting to visit: Mendoza (by the Andes and at the heart of Argentina wine country), Salta, Tucumán (the Argentina more similar to other Andean countries like Bolivia and Perú) in the Northwest, all cities with night life which seems to be what you are looking for. I do not know much about Chile. I understand their second city is Valparaíso but I have never been on the other side of the Andes.1 point -
you ere bringing up very good point, we all have our own inflation rate depending on our own consumption style , not only in Thailand and not only in respect of guys there but in our daily lives as well. Person driving is affected by rise in petrol prices right away while one using public transport is comfortable until next fire rise. By that time petrol prices could go down and personal inflation process is kind of reversed.1 point

In Buenos Aires and Montevideo winter is mild. When in the Rio de la Plata, I recommend a full day excursion to Colonia del Sacramento, in Uruguay. July is perfect to visit ski resorts, In Mendoza there are internationally famous locations, like Los Penitentes. If you want to experience the Argentina that looks like Switzerland, visit San Carlos de Bariloche. The city worths at least a whole weekend. It is built by a beautiful mountain lake, the Lago Nahuel Huapi. It is a protected natural area. You can sail to Isla Victoria, where the legend says What Disney was inspired to create Bambi. If you want to run away from the cold, Argentine North is subtropical trending tropical. Although the rivers in the Mesopotamia are experiencing record lows, Parque Nacional Iguazú it is always beautiful. Do you like desert landscapes? Visit The Northwest, near Bolivia. Salta and Jujuy have amazing natural environments.1 point -

From You Tube Hà Nội to a big step forward towards getting back to normal as the capital’s famous walking street reopened to pedestrians. Families and tourists flocked to Hoan Kiem Lake to enjoyed the sights and sounds… traffic free! In fact the only vehicles on the road where toy cars driven by excited children who have waited almost a year to enjoy this thrill.1 point

Just what the hotel, and some of the rooftop deck, will look like when the renovations are complete have been released by the the owners and The Standard Hotel. Contrary to earlier reports, the pool will not be on the roof deck. From Coconuts Bangkok The hotel space inside King Power Mahanakhon has been somewhat of a mystery since the retail brand joined the project in 2018 and rebranded or flipped much of the assets inside, including a previous hotel scheduled to occupy the bottom third of the tower. Now, the brand has announced what will take its place: The Standard. The American hospitality brand already owns a successful property in Hua Hin — a 199-room airy low-rise building near the beach — but has said the new Mahanakhon property will be its flagship product in Asia. It certainly looks like one. If the pictures are anything to go by, the hotel’s surreal art deco interior looks like it was pulled from the set of a Hollywood movie, replete with all the bold, colorful outlines, curved shapes and zig-zaggy forms that defined the design movement in the 1920s and 30s. Crafted in part by Spanish artist and designer Jaime Hayon, who was listed by Wallpaper magazine as one of the top 100 most influential creators of the past decade, and the in-house design team at The Standard, which itself has won several interior design awards, the hotel’s bold color pallet, rounded accents, art installations and lush greenery combine to create an unquestionably unique-looking hotel among a domestic market that is saturated with them. The Standard hotel portfolio has come to be known for its swanky poolside venues, and The Standard, Bangkok Mahanakhon is no slouch in that category either. Here, the pool sits on the west side of the building (nicely tucked inside one of those Lego-style depressions in the hotel’s facade) and faces Silom Road towards the river. It’s enclosed in plenty of green, too, so guests have the option of soaking up the shade or keeping out of the burning sun depending on the day. 12 March, I went to the soi at around 1030pm, Dreamboy show started and the staff told me finishing soon so I decided to go Hotmale located at opposite. Around 7 tables seated and around 10 boys with jeans on stage, Saturday but only 5 shows on that night. Although boys with jeans and a few show only shaking their body with weird costumes, but big cock show still available and glad to watch it. Video below are those boys who joined in big cock show, I still prefer Hawaii florist shirt in the past instead of the doctor look. https://twitter.com/HotmaleClub/status/1502674945952067585 Show ended at around 1115pm and THB 400 for drink. After that I went to freshboy but their show finished too and a few boys with jeans on stage so I left. 13 March, went to freshboy at around 1020pm and started, two cute boys with white underwear dancing and kissing each other body. Follow with big cock show but only one boy participated, glad that fresh boy still have this and yes boy knocking the pole with his proudly part, hope they can arrange a few more boys join this as I like to see they playing each other with naked on stage. Around 5 tables seated, drink is THB 350, I gave a tip to a boy staff who sit beside me as he introduced me each of the show, he said their show start at 10am and cabaret included, seems I miss out those part. Show at freshboy ended at 1045pm, around 15 boys with jeans back to stage, as regular some from nearby country, few of them are cute unfortunately they did not join the big cock show. Dreamboy staff told me show finished but they have 2nd round at 11pm so I enter, I’m not sure if 2nd show only available during weekend or everyday, but Sunday almost fully seated and crowded, just look like before covid. Dreamboy have cabaret show, dancing, big cock show (around 10 boys participated) and surprisingly that fucking show also back available, unfortunately their boys is not my tea, I prefer freshboy or hotmale. Drink is 400 THB and show ended at around 1140pm. Glad to see that their business back on track and looking to visit again in next few month, hope everyone able to back to lovely Thailand soon. Take care.1 point

I was at Iguaçu falls a few weeks ago and the water levels were at historical norms according to my driver. He was looking at a daily forecast of water levels. But yes, there has been a drought that’s slowed the volume. Check before you go but honestly Iguaçu was incredible from the Brazilian side. I’ve been all over earth and I consider myself a bit jaded. But this place really blew me away. It’s worth the side trip for sure.1 point -

SX Friday night. They claim it opens at 10pm but when I arrived at 10.30 pm I was the only customer ... but for the 3 barmen. I chatted with 2 of them and they were very friendly. Very cute also ... one is caucasian with very pretty face and nice defined body. His name is Yol (not sure of spelling, except that there is a "l" at the end). The other looks like the famous pictures of Che Guevara with beard and long hair. Che is the most friendly. We shake hands and chat a little about best timing to come and the gogo boys. According to him, there should be 15 boys tonite. When we stop chatting he makes sure to pass against me so that I can feel his ass. Che is very good looking. As a barman I imagin that he is off limits. Bit I am wrong : not in SX ! Back at 12 noon. Much more people now. And 12 to 15 boys. All types : from the tall and muscular black athlete to the skinny twink with afro haircut looking like a teenager. Boys ate not shy and come to you for a lapdance. For a few $ you can touch and gently wank their dick or put your hand in their underwear to grope their ass. There is a part of the bar separated by a curtain where you can take boys for serious action. 40 $ is the rate to wank, be wanked, finger, ... fucking can be performed in the toilets ... All barmen wear only their underwear to bartend. Che loves to keep his underwear lowered to show his perfect bubble ass and half of his dick. Sexy. He has a nice defined chest with tattoes. A great smile. Yol is bartending with a girl but frequently leaves the bar to be gogo boy. He has a great muscular body with a S of Superman tattoed on the left part of his chest. With a few $ or more, you can wank him. He is huge and seems to enjoy being groped. Firm ass with a hairy crack leading to a tight asshole. The boys are available for sessions outside and I saw a couple of customers leaving with a gogo boy. 60 to 80 $ seems to be the rate. I wonder if Yol is available .... I guess that he is. Good music. Cheap booze (beer is 3 $). Sexy and available boys in underwear always ready to rub their asd and dick on you or dancing in the nude. SX is a great discovery. ... For horny peoole, there is a backroom. Pitch black. "Solo para hombres"(only for men). A long corridor with lots of cocks out and in erection waiting to be wanked or sucked. Or couples kissing and fucking in this pitch black zone ... I went to SX on Friday and Saturday. Both nights were very good with friendly and cute gogo boys and sexy bartenders. The area where SX is located, is not so nice : definitely closed shops, huge agressive tags, no maintenance of the streets, garbage everywhere ... At 8 pm the zone is a bit scary : no one in the streets. But at midnight or at 2 or 3 am, there are many people in the streets. Since VIP and Scandalo aka the Toxic Bar are within a wzlking distance from SX, I walked to these places to check at around 2.30 am. VIP is claiming free entry and gigi boys from wednesday to sunday There were indeed a couple of boys when I checked both nights. But the place which is rather small was almost empty. Same for scandalo. At the same time, both nights, SX was full. I also went Saturday to Oasis around 2.30 am. The mast customers were already leaving. I did not see any gogo boy. Finally, if you go to SX by car (uber is operating in San Juan) there is a parking lot open 24/7 for the restaurant in front of SX. Enjoy PR ! Some pictures Sexy barman in underwear in SX Some boys1 point
