  2. Breaking news: G.O.P. Declares Jan. 6 Attack ‘Legitimate Political Discourse’ The people who run this party have completely lost their minds. Fuck the U.S. Constitution. Fuck the rule of law. Fuck Democracy. We are so far from Benghazi, it's very difficult to see how we correct course without a major war. I doubt a Trump death is enough to fix this. We can only hope Covid takes out a few more red states. The crazies aren't going anywhere anytime soon.

  4. If you notice I never asked which saunas had my tastes...i only asked a general question about which ones were open still, dates to go and times to go...never discussed the kind of guys there...

  5. LOL, it's truly amazing people get all worked up about a question. It really is unimportant to say anything if you don't want to answer...just ignore it. I doubt sincerely that there will be anything interesting for my tastes at these saunas anyway from the descriptions of quasi-gay, gay-for-pay manly guys that mostly ply the saunas. I will go check them out to be sure though and maybe get lucky.

  7. The report of hospital tests being positive and independent tests being negative is unfortunately another dark cloud hanging over. I see reports online of X number of people booking the Thailand pass, but I wonder what that number could be if only people weren't put off booking because of being caught out and the fear of potentially being incarcerated.

  8. Battling politicians are more keyed in to using the changing daily numbers of test results to burnish their image than trying to get the country back on its feet. Every day they get a new opportunity for another photo op, leaving the public bewildered and agitated. When you couple this with developing doubts about the efficacy of the testing system itself, and the potential to approach it more as a profit center than a diagnostic tool, the greater the prospect for confusion about tourism rules going forward.

    Serious Ageing Question

The part about douching spoke to me. I brought supplies for 4 wks Brazil recently but could not muster the will to utilize. In 70th year but fortunate to have robust tumescence, perhaps partly owing to lifetime healthy nutrition and exercise. Fortunately, about 90% of the time no embarrassing GI-related mishaps upon protected RAI when attempted, and simply avoided or truncated when I thought it might be on the messier side. On a side note, I was violently ill vomiting one day and my tentative conclusion was it followed 2 strong caipirinhas of an evening at Lagoa early in Truvada cycle after having 2 years abstention PrEP. So later re-challenged but then abstemious re: alcohol. I don’t think it was food poisoning. I am not much of a consumer of alcohol ordinarily but was essentially mildly drunk on the cocktails.

  10. From Bloomberg News / BP Test & Go 'cumbersome', says hotel tycoon Thailand should look to the example of the more liberal reopening policies of Europe and travel hot spots such as the Maldives to revive its tourism industry, says Bill Heinecke, the founder and chairman of Minor International Plc. Current entry requirements for vaccinated foreign travellers are too “cumbersome”, the Bangkok-based billionaire said in an interview with Bloomberg News. “If you’re vaccinated and tested you must be allowed to travel without so much paperwork,” said Mr Heinecke, who heads one of Asia’s largest hospitality, restaurant and lifestyle companies. Tourism numbers in Thailand are “going to be tough and challenging for a while until the government changes its position”, he said. While Thailand this month resumed its Test & Go programme, Mr Heinecke labelled the requirements — multiple Covid tests, the need to use an online registration system and having an insurance policy with at least $50,000 cover — as “cumbersome”. https://www.bangkokpost.com/thailand/general/2259263/test-go-cumbersome-says-hotel-tycoon

  11. There was a typo in my post. It should have read Fragata moved then closed. Regarding timing, late afternoon onwards is usually the case however one big qualification. You can be lucky any time and it only takes one to make an evening (or afternoon!)

  12. It is not unreasonable for a newbie to seek clarification on the sauna scene. I have been to Brazil 9 times although, for obvious reasons, not for a few years. The scene has changed dramatically in that time. In São Paulo Fragata moved the closed and Lagoa changed address. Information has been provided on this forum but I have sympathy for someone new absorbing it all.

  13. On my last trip (Nov 2021) I purchased a one year eSIM package from 3HK. 8 GB + 5 GB social (WhatsApp/FB etc) for about $34 USD. The plan is data-only but I was able to use my regular US cellular plan that has WiFi calling/texting to make/receive calls etc using the data from the plan as a WiFi network essentially. I used ~2GB during my 10 day trip (being somewhat conscientious to conserve data and be on WiFi whenever possible). It’s certainly cheaper to get a Brazilian SIM but I just wanted something that I knew would work right away without needing to visit a mall or navigate using a fake CPF number and Portuguese phone menu to activate. Plus, I still have 6 GB for future trips to Brazil or really any conceivable place I might travel in South America or elsewhere. Activation was super easy and I was up and running within 5 mins of landing at GRU. Note that traffic is routed through Hong Kong - I used a VPN to encrypt my data out of extra precaution. https://www.three.com.hk/prepaid/DIY/en/offer/travel (note that prices on the site are in Hong Kong Dollars - the 365 day global plan for 268 HKD is what I bought and came to ~$34 USD. Use a CC with no foreign transaction fees if possible)

    Brazil sauna question

You can get a month’s worth of FDA gold-stamped generic Viagra in the US for ~$8 with a coupon from GoodRx. I have also bought at Brazilian pharmacies for a similar or maybe even higher price just for convenience factor. Even if their dosing is off by ~20%, what’s the big deal? It’s not like we’re talking cancer medicines here 😂

  15. It is truly insane to me. I do not understand why they have gone along with this and continue to. Oh, for the votes for the brainless. This strikes at the heart of democracy. Very sad indeed.

    GIG or SDU?

Absolutely, if you get a window seat flying in/out of SDU, you are getting the view of Rio equivalent to those 15 minute helicopter ride, but for free.

  18. Anti-Semitism is, in my opinion, real enough and pervasive. However, when an Israeli Ambassador claims that the word "solidarity" is itself anti-Semitic, or that a factual report from a respected human rights organisation that took four years of research to collate, is anti-Semitic merely because he doesn't like the findings.... it is time to use the word more accurately. By the way, everything that Amnesty International reported I saw with my own eyes when I was there between 2004 and 2017. And more.

  19. Yesterday I received an email with a malware payload purporting to be from the Malaysia Hotel. I don't suppose the hotel has anything to do with it, but it looks as if their email system or website may have been compromised. If you receive anything similar, don't open (as if you would!) the attached spreadsheet.

  22. Marlowes has a DARK BOOM BOOM room. The owner is very nice and gave us a tour of his establishment. I don't drink so we didn't stay long. There was actually one guy in the back room sitting in the dark. The owner did tell me that you are allowed to have "RELATIONS" in the back if you'd like.

    3 more flying farangs

The height of the balcony railing plays a significant role in accidental falls. I've noticed that many older buildings, and even some newer ones, have balconies that don't meet recommended building code of 42 inches (107 cm). This photo illustrates a man leaning against a railing that appears to be constructed at the minimum recommended height. His center of gravity is well below the railing, minimizing accidental falls.
