  1. Farewell, For Now Our last day, and after getting up early for my pre-departure RT-PCR test I return to bed and spoon with Bangkok Guy. We sleep late and head to the pool just before noon, where we relax in a cabana. I occasionally swim laps while Bangkok Guy is content to relax in the shade. We return to the room for a final nap and a final ‘nap’. Before going to dinner, I pack. I hate doing it, going through all the mechanical steps needed for a smooth departure this evening. We have a final dinner on the terrace by the river and then go to Bamboo Bar where we are greeted warmly and the captain automatically brings us our drinks, a Sazerac for me and a Pina Colada for Bangkok Guy. Since the evening four years ago when the mixologist at Vespers decided that a Pina Colada was a good match for someone who does not like the taste of raw alcohol, it has become Bangkok Guy’s standard jazz bar drink. The female vocalist tonight is outstanding. I suggest to Bangkok Guy that we should dance if there was more space. Back in the room we do just that, our own versions of the tango and the waltz. Next time, we agree, we need to dance. Bangkok Guy could stay in the room until late check out tomorrow, but ultimately he decides he will take a cab home when I leave, despite the late hour. By himself the room is “too spooky”. The LimoPattaya is on time, not our favorite lady in her ‘Boss car’, but a colleague. I ask Bangkok Guy if I can hug him goodbye – we are in public – “Yes, can” and we briefly hug. He usually gets down the evening I depart and while he has been cheerful up until now, I see this is happening. Despite all the snafus, the stresses and only spending four days with Bangkok Guy, it has been a great trip. However, like Bangkok Guy, alone in the car to the airport I am a little down. I really want more time with him. I stroke the gold dragon on the red cord around my wrist. This connection has become deeper than anything in the past. A little deeper, and it will push against the practicalities of my life, and I really have no idea where to take it then. I smile. I like Bangkok Guy. I like him a lot. We will connect again some time after June for the trip around Thailand and that will give us time together to figure this thing out.

  2. Tipsy Talk Back at the hotel Bangkok Guy heads to IconSiam to get a shirt for tonight while I shower before the tailor arrives. I am very pleased with the clothes and by the time Bangkok Guy returns I am wearing some of my new wardrobe, a pair of high-waisted caramel linen trousers held up with woven silk braces in light blue with a tropical fish design and a white Chinese-collared shirt, the collar and placket lined in deep navy. Bangkok Guy both likes and is amused by the braces “They cute”. He explains his amusement by showing me a picture of little children wearing outfits with braces – he associates braces with children’s clothing. He has bought a white Chinese collared shirt which matches mine. His phone rings. It is our driver from today saying that she will not be driving us tonight, one of her colleagues will collect us. We are disappointed as she is a co-conspirator and we like her car, a black Honda Accord, which Bangkok Guy tells me in Thailand is a “Boss car”. Her colleague arrives in an SUV, apparently “Not Boss car”, so we arrive at Baan Suriyasai as our humble selves. Our reservation is in Khun Bangkok Guy’s name as the restaurant was having trouble with my name and Bangkok Guy took over. The new shirt matches his status as patron-of-record. We have our usual room, a private table-for-two overlooking the courtyard. Bangkok Guy orders for us, old favorites like the pork belly with different sizes of egg and a few new dishes. As always the food is wonderful. No champagne by the glass, only by the bottle. I ask Bangkok Guy if he likes champagne and if he can drink more than a glass. I order a bottle after he affirms both. We don’t usually drink this much, certainly not Bangkok Guy, and the alcohol loosens the conversation. “Why you drink so much?” “All Falang drink”. “I not know Falang, I know you. You like alcohol more strong (than the champagne)”. I later ask for an eau-de-vie, confirming his analysis. “Your mother knows you are gay?” “Yes”. “Does it bother her?” He looks confused “Why it bother her?” “In the West some parents do not like their sons being gay”. “Oh?” he is not sure what to make of this Falang peculiarity. “Why you give me everything?” “I don’t give you everything”. “You give a lot”. “I like you”. “How much you like me?” “A lot” and I extend my arms to indicate the entire room and the universe beyond. “Why you like me?” “You are a very nice person. You have a good heart. You are responsible. You have a sense of humor”. “I not so nice”. “Really, why you say that?” “If I no want to talk to someone they can see, my face look like this” (he tries to pull a face of someone turning up their nose, but does not really succeed). I had wondered how Bangkok Guy’s complete lack of a poker face went down with fellow Thais and this suggests that it can cause problems. “You like me?” “Yes, you always nice to me, never ‘Ack Ack’ me, and you are funny”. ‘Ack Ack’ is said rolling back the lips to show the teeth in a biting motion. It’s a gesture I have used to indicate that I have had to deal with someone. He sees it as part of my being a Boss, but happily I don’t act as Boss to him. “Why you stay in such expensive hotel?” in a slightly critical tone. Bangkok Guy likes value-for-money, not expensive things. Now I discover why he called asking for the hotel address. I explain I have a deeply discounted rate, but admit it is still expensive. I am paying about twice as much as I normally would in order to get the space and river access, to keep distant from people because of covid. He nods, this is of a piece with my using the LimoPattaya rather than public transport and insisting on cracking the windows open despite smells outside. On the way to Ayutthaya, he wound the windows up because of a smell (not much of one to my nose, but he has a much keener sense of smell) and I put them back down. He felt the need to explain my odd behavior to our driver (I caught the word ‘covid’) and she just laughed. After driving me several times she was used to my strange obsession. “What do Thai people think when they see your ring?” I ask, indicating the ring-of-power-that-was-supposed-to-be-a-dragon on his ring-finger. “Think I am married”. “How many children do you tell them you have?” I tease him. Bangkok Guy gives me a tolerant ‘You are so Silly’ look and ignores the question. “In Thailand where you want to live, Bangkok or hometown?” “Bangkok too many people, but is business. Hometown is nice, have trees and nature, but no business. Stay Bangkok for business and live in hometown once business big enough. If could live anywhere, would live in mountains like you, cooler, air clean, not many people”. In mountains like me?! “I don’t live in mountains”. “Yes, I see many trees”. One time he called me I was in the garden and he has associated the many trees with forest, which he associates with mountains. He really does like nature. I explain the confusion. “Still many trees”, which I can’t deny. The comment about no business in hometown causes a penny to drop. The allowance I give him enables him to stay in Bangkok and keep alive his aspiration of creating a business. Without it covid would have forced a retreat to the hometown where the living is cheap but the opportunities are zero. “Outside Thailand, is there anywhere you would like to live?” “With you”. “You can live outside Thailand?” “Yes”. “But no Thai people, who you talk to?” His look implies I am missing something “Who you think run Thai restaurants?” he asks laughing. My local Thai restaurant is indeed run by Thais, and there is a temple twenty minutes away. I have always thought that Bangkok Guy was wedded to Thailand, so this is news. “You would be happy outside Thailand?” The answer here is nuanced. In Thailand getting ahead as a very poor person is difficult. His father went bankrupt a few years ago and now the responsibility for the financial wellbeing of the family unit (his mother and younger sister) rests on his shoulders. It is a lot. He accepts the responsibility, not accepting it is not a consideration, but he would like to be happy while he shoulders the responsibility and somehow this might be easier outside Thailand. My guess is that it comes back to needing emotional support and, possibly, he thinks there is more opportunity outside Thailand. Bangkok Guy, possessed of the ring of power, wants to join me in my woodland sanctuary. I wonder if this is how Tolkien got inspired? I’ve never heard that he visited Thailand.

  3. Last April I went on my post-vaccine trip to Santo Domingo--without benefit of this forum--and had a pretty good time (basically free Grindr guys and pain Juan binbin ones). Fun to the extent I wanted to go back--now all the more so that I have found this forum and info about Manny and Ezekial's guys! Planning to be there 2 weeks from today. First a quick report of what I did last year. Stayed at the RIG Casa Conde for 9 days, it was about $40/night, they gave me one of the few rooms overlooking the street with a balcony, which was a nice aspect, I could sit on the threshold of the door (still benefiting from the awesome AC) and watch the world go by. (I confess I'm not a tropical-weather guy.) No problem with having guests, the reception is on the mezzanine and the guys would walk past the glass-enclosed reception, reception never said anything to them but I like that the guys would have an awareness that it is not a totally unsecured place. As for the fun, yes it was fun. I'm a bottom guy, love big dicks of course, also like nice bodies, handsome faces and good kissers. Started out on the right foot with a Chilean guy a few hours before I arrived who was all of those and ended with a Dominican a few hours before I left who was too. (Nicely, the first and the last were the 2 best!) In between, a lot of guys with 8-9", in their 20s, mostly skinny non-gym, some handsome, some less so. And one guy around 40 with a great body and great kisser who went for hours, reminding me yet again that a big dick is not a requirement for great sex, nor is bareback. (On PrEP and prefer raw; I would say about a third of the guys were down with raw.) I would have about 3-5 guys a day, from about 5 minutes ,to that guy for several hours, pretty slutty although I doubt I qualify for BlkSuperman's league I'm open to paying (and did a few times) , but of course why pay for what you can get for free, plus the thrill that this hot guy is fucking me because he's into me not because he's getting paid is priceless. (I confess it is a thrill very hard to surrender as I get older.) Basically I would Grind during the day and if I wasn't satiated by around 4 or 5, I would heard to juan binbin (a few blocks away). The neighborhood drops off quite precipitously in those blocks, I always walked without trouble, it seemed so silly to order and Uber for 3 blocks, but the owner advised me against it (and once kindly even drove me back). I went there maybe 4 times, went with 3 different guys, the guys were not the super hottest (it's not the 117!) and never more than 10 were there at a time. 2 out of the 3 were very good (one was named Federico) and very obliging (I like it slow suavecito, not pounding and I find it's tough to get straightish escorts to deviate from the doggy-style pounding playbook. Also were good kissers and cool with breeding. You pay the owner, the rate is fixed, about $40 I recall. Once I went by and there was no one I was into and it was no problem that I just looked without buying. (Federico wasn't there otherwise I would have gone with him again.) One time I went with a guy who was boring and not very hard, I mentioned it to the owner and he was apologetic that the guy was new. Virtually no other clients around but this was April 2021, so maybe that's why... Went to Apollo once on a weekend afternoon, it was actually very busy. Although many were wearing masks, it seemed a little excessive risk even though I was newly vaccinated, and since I wasn't getting a flood of attention (I'm pretty fit, but late 40s, so older than most everyone there) I didn't stick around long. Guys were kind of in the same range I was finding on Grindr. Also went to Cine Lido twice (the idea of sucking off straight guys, I confess, does seem pretty hot) but not very crowded (15-20 guys) and guys not very hot, but maybe because of the pandemic. Incidentally, on the corner to the west of Cine Lido, the Chifa (in parts of Latin America, "Chifa" refers to pre-prepared Chinesish food) the fried chicken is delicious, and was surely the highlight of my two visits to Cine Lido and the culinary highlight of my visit. I walked on my 2 visits, only about 4 blocks uphill from hotel, but as with Juan binbin (in a somewhat similar direction) that may have been too cavalier. One last thing that made a nice contribution to my trip was the Gym Colonial, on Calle Conde, around only $2 for the day (yes, I love a bargain!) So, as I say, I had a nice time last year that I was planning on going back this winter (when it is a little cooler) Now that I have read here about Manny and Ezekial's guys (I swear it sounds almost to good to be true!) I am really looking forward to it, I'm eyeing Feb 10-21 with both weekends in SD and maybe 3 days Mon-Thurs in Punta Cana. Is 3 days enough in Punta Cana? I haven't read much about Ezekial's guys here there so think of keeping the emphasis on SD. When I finalize my plans and buy my tickets, probably next week I will contact them and start browsing the possibilities. Are there any must-haves that I should definitely not miss?? Any ones in particular I should start with?(all other things being equal, I would say to start with the guys who have more beautiful faces but are not quite so XXL and work my way up to the guys who are pure XXL dick plays. My preference is for guys who are open to slow penetration that lasts a long time (some pounding at the end is cool), and who are open to making out. Prefer taller to shorter, but flexible. I hope it is ok to ask, do any of them bareback, it's by no means necessary but all other things being equal, I do prefer it (The trip report from Arabcreamer suggests yes) So, thanks again guys for any and all suggestions!

  4. Was the hotel of choice for 20 years for members of this and other boards, many have moved on to Airbnb's or just moved on. I stay here still whenever I go back, I like the easy guest policy, free breakfast, location and daily maid service.....Mostly the same workers from all those 20 years 😲

  8. I often wonder what vaccinations these idiotic anti-vaxxers were given as babies. If they hadn't been given them, the chances are they would have been dead for decades. Don't they learn? Stupid question!

  9. Starting to feel like these idiots are actively competing for Darwin awards. Truth be told, every time I hear of a death like this one I cheer up a little and kind of wish all the hardcore anti-vaxxers would just die at once. Little of value would be lost and the world would be a better place. Unfortunately, dragging it out over years is giving the virus plenty of room to mutate and endanger the less-idiotic.

  10. It's not bizarre! It's pure corruption. When Interpol had Carlos the Jackal at the head of its 10 most wanted list, does anyone seriously believe they could do nothing until they had an address? It's total nonsense. As I reported I think more than a year ago, at that time the Thai authorities claimed that they'd had Interpol put this murderer on its wanted list. Well, I went through the full list of around 7,000 names. Guess what? The Red Bull murderer was not on it! When you look at all the Red Bull sponsored events around the world - including the hugely popular Formula 1 Grand Prix races - I would bet a lot on this murderer being in attendance at at least more than one. After all, the Red Bull team won the World Championship last year. I wonder for how much longer all this "we can't locate him" rubbish will go on and how much will have been paid in bribes by the time it is over.

  13. Just for information, I just read that the Philippines will reopen for vaccinated tourists starting Feb 10. Only requirement is pre departure PCR test. No quarantine any longer. I hope Thailand follows similar conditions soon. Even just back to the one day hotel quarantine would be more attractive.

  14. From The Star MANILA (AFP): The Philippines will re-open to fully vaccinated tourists from most countries on Feb 10 and lift quarantine requirements, officials said Friday (Jan 28), nearly two years after closing its borders to contain the coronavirus. A previous plan to welcome back tourists from Dec 1 was suspended after the emergence of the hyper-contagious Omicron variant that has since ripped through the Philippines. Friday's announcement allows for the resumption of visa-free travel for short visits by nationals from the 157 countries who already enjoyed permit-free entry to the Philippines before the pandemic began. Fully vaccinated tourists from countries on the list will need to test negative for Covid-19 shortly before flying to the Philippines and will not have to quarantine on arrival. https://www.thestar.com.my/aseanplus/aseanplus-news/2022/01/28/philippines-to-re-open-to-vaccinated-foreign-tourists-on-feb-10

  15. The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) today (28 Jan.) issued revised information about the Test-and-Go application process. Pre-Arrival Requirements All travellers must have the following documents for entering Thailand: A Thailand Pass, which can be applied via https://tp.consular.go.th/. *The system will reopen for new TEST & GO applications from 1 February, 2022 (09.00 Hrs. Thailand Time) A Medical Certificate with an RT-PCR lab result indicating that COVID-19 is not detected issued no more than 72 hours before travelling. Travellers under 6 years of age, travelling with parents with a negative RT-PCR test result within 72 hours before travelling, are not required to have a pre-arrival negative RT-PCR test result and can have a saliva test when entering the Kingdom. For arrivals by water, everyone on board the vessels must have a medical certificate with an RT-PCR lab result indicating that COVID-19 is not detected within the officially specified time frame. Anyone on aboard with a history of COVID-19 infection within a period between 14-90 days must have a medical certificate of recovery. An insurance policy with coverage no less than US$50,000. TAT recommends that travellers make sure to check the small print of any COVID-19 insurance policy before purchasing. Ultimately, the policy should cover the cost of treatment and other medical expenses associated with being infected with COVID-19, including in-patient hospitalisation. The policy should also cover the whole duration that travellers are planning to stay in Thailand. Thais and foreign expatriates under Thailand’s national healthcare coverage are exempt from this requirement. A proof of prepayment for 2 separate nights of accommodation at government-approved hotel/s, such as, SHA Extra Plus (SHA++), AQ, OQ, or AHQ on Day 1 and Day 5, and the expenses for 2 RT-PCR tests on Day 1 and Day 5. The prepayment for Day 1 must include an accommodation, a test and a prearranged transfer from the airport to the hotel. *Travellers can book 2 different hotels for the accommodation on Day 1 and Day 5. However, on both Day 1 and Day 5, they must stay within the room for the RT-PCR test result. The second RT-PCR test will not be required if the traveller’s length of stay is less than 5 nights, or his/her scheduled international departure date out of Thailand is on Day 5 or before. For example if the traveller plans to stay in Thailand for 3 days, then he/she does not have to undergo the second RT-PCR test, but he/she must leave for another country immediately. However, whether the traveller will be required to take another RT-PCR test depend on the airline and the final international destination. A Certificate of COVID-19 Vaccination/Recovery Everyone 18 years of age and older must be fully vaccinated for COVID-19 with an approved vaccine at least 14 days before travelling to Thailand. Travellers 12-17 years of age travelling to Thailand unaccompanied must get vaccinated with at least 1 dose of an approved vaccine. Those travelling with parents are exempt from this requirement. Travellers 6-11 years of age, travelling with parents, are exempt from this requirement. For arrivals by water, everyone on board must be fully vaccinated. This is except for travellers under 18 years of age, travelling with parents or guardians. Travellers with a history of COVID-19 infection who have recovered by medical treatment, and travellers who have received at least 1 dose of an approved vaccine after post-infection must have a certificate of COVID-19 recovery. All travellers must undergo ‘exit screening’ at the point of departure, i.e., at the airline check-in counter and present the required documents to the person-in-charge to carry out the checks. On-Arrival Requirements / During the Stay Kindly note that if you arrive during 00.01-18.00 Hrs., the day is Day 1. If you arrive during 18.01-00.00 Hrs., the day after is Day 1. All travellers must undergo ‘entry screening’, including body temperature check at the point of entry. Present the required documents to the Immigration/Health Control officer to carry out the checks, then proceed through the Immigration procedures. Proceed to the prearranged accommodation or medical facility to undergo the first RT-PCR test. The trip must be by a prearranged vehicle on a sealed route. Then, all travellers must wait for the test result within the hotel only. Travellers under 6 years of age, travelling with parents, can have a saliva test. If testing negative for COVID-19, travellers are free to go anywhere in Thailand. However, they must stay at their prepaid accommodation on Day 5 and undergo their second COVID-19 test using the RT-PCR technique (they must stay within the room for the RT-PCR test result.) The second test can also be taken when the travellers experience respiratory symptoms. Travellers whose test result returns as positive will be referred for appropriate medical treatment in accordance with Thailand’s Communicable Diseases Act B.E. 2558 (2015). The expenses must be covered by the required insurance for foreign travellers, or national healthcare coverage for Thais and eligible foreign expatriates. Pending on their conditions, they may be medically advised to receive treatment in either hospital hotel isolation or community isolation. During receiving the medical treatment – at least 10 days, they must remain in their accommodation only. They should not leave their accommodation unless utmost necessary, and must notify the Communicable Disease Control officer in-charge. After having recovered from COVID-19, they will receive a medical certificate of recovery. While in Thailand, travellers are advised to strictly follow standard, good personal hygiene practices; such as, wear a mask in public, maintain hand hygiene (washing with soap and water or using hand sanitizer), and keep physical distance of at least 1 metre from others. Travellers who are experiencing COVID-like symptoms should get tested. If testing positive they must get an appropriate medical treatment. Those with COVID-19 testing appointment must get tested. All travellers must download and install the MorChana application, and set it on at all times for the COVID-19 precautionary measures and to record the result on Day 5-6 in the application. Meanwhile, travellers who have applied/obtained their Thailand Pass QR code before 22 December, 2021, with scheduled arrival dates in Thailand from 24 December, 2021, onwards, are still required to undergo their second COVID-19 test using the RT-PCR technique at government-designated facilities on Day 5-6 of their stay in Thailand, or when they experience respiratory symptoms (no additional cost). Guidelines for Domestic/International Departure For domestic departure, travellers must show proof that they have received a negative result for their RT-PCR test. For international departure, it is the responsibility of travellers or their organisations to make sure that the travellers meet the requirements of their specific international destination regardless of the point of departure. Kindly note the information is to serve as reference only. It is especially important to check in regularly on www.tatnews.org to stay current on what remains a very fluid and fast changing situation. https://www.tatnews.org/2022/01/thailand-reopening-exemption-from-quarantine-test-go

  24. Pass PCR Test, Will Travel I pass the first of four PCR tests, don my N95 mask and away! After allowing for empty seats to separate passengers, both my flights are fairly full, in contrast to the terminals which are ghost towns. No taxiing delays with a que of one for the first flight and two for the second. Passengers all following covid safety protocols. I had been warned that my ears would ache from the N95 mask and this was very true, but the only negative until the leg to Koh Samui. Thai health and immigration were very pleasant and efficient and it took only around 40 minutes from disembarkation to being seated in the departure gate for the five hour wait for the official quarantine connecting flight. The health officials in Koh Samui were also very efficient, so the whole process of checking papers to record who sat where on the plane, getting the PCR test and getting into the hotel’s single-party transport went smoothly. Bangkok Airways, not so much efficient. The flight is supposed to be a quarantine one. However, the plane was not parked at the gate but some distance away. To get there we crowd into a bus, not a hope of distancing. Long drive, then a wait inside the bus until we can board. Among my fellow passengers were a group who were somewhat lax in masking, as though the mask itself was a powerful talisman regardless of how it was worn. I avoided them in the lounge, but no hope of doing so in the bus or on the small plane. Grrrr….. Efficiency resumed at my hotel. They had me pre-register on-line a few days before arrival. On arrival I was taken directly to the room, shown how to get the room service menu from the TV and told to stay in the room until my test results arrived around 8am the next morning. I was not given a key, so if I left the room it would be obvious as I could not get back in, in theory. In practice my hosts had left me access to my private terrace from which I could slip directly into the pool and swim to freedom. Not wanting to abuse their hospitality or be a selfish idiot I content myself on the terrace with sunshine, fresh air, the smell of flowers, excellent Thai food and a Chang beer.

  25. From The Thaiger Big bike was travelling over 100 kph when it struck Dr. Waraluck last week After a reflective week of Thai social media mulling over the death of the ophthalmologist Dr. Waraluck Supwatjariyakul last Friday, police have today revealed new circumstances surrounding the incident. It’s been revealed that 21 year old Pol Lance Corporal Narawit Buadok was traveling at a speed between 108 to 128 kilometers per hour when he struck the victim, instantly killing her at the zebra crossing in Phaya Thai, Bangkok Apart from being charged seven other charges, he’s now going to be charged with “speeding over the 80 kilometre per hour speed limit”. The earlier charges include failing to stop at a crosswalk, reckless driving causing death, driving with no rear mirror, driving with no licence plate, driving a vehicle without current vehicle tax. https://thethaiger.com/hot-news/transport/big-bike-was-travelling-over-100-kph-when-it-struck-dr-waraluck-last-week
