    Trip report

After reading so many trip reports on here I thought it was time I contributed back as I've just finished a 4 week stay in Thailand. I'm afraid it won't be as good as many of the excellent reports on here but Ill do my best. My trip consisted of Bangkok, Phuket and Pattaya. All of my hotels were booked through Agoda and I had great deals in all 3 cities through the app. I'll break it down in to 5 posts in this thread but it might take me a while to get all the posts up as I'm still playing catch up with work. Post 1 will be general planning/entry into the country, Post 2 Bangkok report, Post 3 Phuket report, Post 4 Pattaya report and Post 5 general observations (including info on internal flights). So here goes Post 1... My trip planning started on 1st November when the Thailand pass become live. I realised there were going to be many hurdles to overcome but I was determined after a 2 year break from the country. I juggled about whether to book the flight first or apply for the pass first, in the end I applied for the pass and kept fingers crossed it would be approved. The preparation took me quite a few hours because it was a nightmare trying to understand how to convert all the documents into jpg (something that I don't think is required now with later modifications). It took 3 days for my pass to be approved and 5 days later with pass in hand I was finally on a plane again to Thailand. Arrival into Bangkok Arrived 8 am and Suvarnabhumi airport was very well organised. As soon as I left the plane and turned right there were plastic chairs in the corridor. We asked to move along to the first available vacant chair. The chairs seemed to be in batches of about 30. This was first 'provisional' check of documents where a team swept through and checked we had the correct documents and asked us to put them in a particular order ready for the official check. This took only about 5 minutes but once our batch of people had been checked we were then asked to move forward to the Thailand Pass desk for the official check. They checked the pass and also wanted to the plane seat number (squeaky bum time because the plane I was on was full). Everything ok, took literally less than a minute and then on to immigration. Immigration was brilliant - no queues and all barriers removed - I walked straight up to a desk. Got my 30 day stamp, picked up my luggage and then into the arrivals hall where we were greeted with all the hotel reps and looked for the Trinity Silom sign form my 24 hour incarceration. I was put in a van on my own which I previously requested by email. I think from leaving the plane to getting into the van took 15 - 20 minutes. It felt good to be in Thailand again but apprehensive of getting over the quarantine hurdle. Quarantine I was take into the basement of the hotel and immediately had a swab for the PCR. It was about 10 am and asked how the long the result would take and they told me tomorrow morning. It was a bit nerve wracking thinking of the 'what ifs' but a shower and then some sleep. About 12 noon some lunch delivered outside the door and then to my surprise at 1pm (just 3 hours after arrival) the phone rang. Sir we have your results... and we have to inform you (gulp)... it is negative so you are free to check out when you want. I didn't want to stay in prison any longer than necessary so I immediately got onto Agoda and got a great deal at another hotel. I checked out, was given a copy of the PCR negative result and lateral flow test which I was told just for me to check after 7 days, no mention of reporting the result or about any apps. After checking out of the quarantine hotel I headed into the Bangkok streets for the adventure...

    Trip report

Good report. I can see only one thing you did wrong --- booked the hotel VAN. Because if ANYONE on the van tested positive everyone on the van would have to do the same quarantine as them, Lucky for you, you were the lone passenger. Looking forward to part two.

  3. At Home Bar is open till 9.00 pm as a cafe and alcohol is not being served. They have very good coffee, sodas and cakes. I saw a bar/restaurant outside of the Complex at Dongtan beach last night thronging with people and dancing in a large group with no distancing. The closure of Jomtien Complex bars/restaurants is very unfair.

    Soi Than Tawan

In my early days of visiting Bangkok I used to hang out in Soi Twilight and offed guys from various bars in the soi. I also patronised the massage places there, too, from time to time. But then one afternoon I ventured into Soi Tarntawan and discovered a bar that was open - Golden Cock. I met a lovely guy there and he became my regular sex friend for my afternoon session. We've been friends ever since and he takes care of me every day I'm in Bangkok. In the evenings I would go to a show in Soi Twilight and then head back to Soi Tarntawan and meet up with all the guys at Golden Cock for drinks (and sometimes a blow job) then go to meet another lovely guy in Natureboy. He would pull up a stool, pull out his enormous Isaan cock and put his hand up my shorts. After an hour out so of mutual cock play we would retire to my hotel for a full-on session. In the early days I was top only, as was he, but we had great sex. After a few encounters we got to know each other and he moved into rimming and swallowing, which was a very pleasant surprise indeed! Unfortunately, years later he became the bar manager and was no longer available. I think he might had found a farang boyfriend who didn't want him to go with clients anymore. Luckily for me I quickly found a new guy at Natureboys. His name is Mai. He was also a really nice, friendly guy and had a beautiful smile. And a huge, fat cock. So the same fun continued in the bar and in my room; it was just with a different guy. I think the first guy broke up with his boyfriend because although he was still the manager, he became availabe to off once again when Mai wasn't working.. And this time he was the one who was surprised because in the meantime I had learnt how to bottom and he was more than happy to give me a good pounding. So was Mai, but his size was a problem for me and it took a while for me to agree to bottom for him. When I finally got up the courage, it was awesome! He took it slowly and once he managed to get it all in, he was very gentle with me. What a pro! So I was fortunate enough to have 3 regulars to take care of me in Bangkok, and all were from Soi Tarntawan. For a time I also had a guy who would bottom for me - he worked at Super A. He is a close friend of my regular boy at Golden Cock. Last time I heard, he had returned to his village, married and had a couple of kids. He was straight (as are all of my regulars) but realised he was sitting on a gold mine so decided to become a bottom. It was a role he played to perfection and I think he actually enjoyed it. So the demise of Soi Twilight wasn't a big thing for me. But I'm really looking forward to getting back to my friends in Soi Tarntawan. I'll be first taking them out to a nice dinner, followed by a shopping spree and then ending up in my hotel room. I can hardly wait!!!

  5. Airport exchange booth was by the luggage belts. Because of covid I was, whisked to the waiting taxi so no chance to see whether booths at railway station are opened. What I noticed in Silom area few booths are closed presumably due to lack of tourists. I like to steer you to a "" Silom bars" thread where I posted a bit about Dreamboys show. As you see, live is slowly going back to normal. There was some movements I Hot Male outside too but did not have a chance to check it out yet. Soi 4 on Monday was, less busy but by no means deserted although at Jupiter it seemed only waiters were present and perhaps two boys but it could change later. Bars are starting earlier, at 8 but also closing earlier, at 11. Walked certain twink to a taxi past midnight through Patpong 1 and few bars were showing sign of life. On another hand atop of Mahanakhon between 10 and 10.50 apart from first arrival I. E. me only 3 other tourists appeared, one of them stepped on the glass platform, but I was first anyways. Lunching with another forum member at world famous, 5 Michelin stars Foodland Patpong restaurant between 1 and 2 it was almost empty as well with more staff than diners. Quarter Silom, new hotel in soi 6, just past Tawan or at least when Tawan once was, perish the thought is very modern and well appointed, even with a pool and a gym. Rooms not too big but very well appointed and organized, I liked long desk particularly. There's breakfast buffet, well stuffed particularly with Asian style food, if not included in room rate one needs to splash 129 baht. Kind of novelty are almost universal so far( 3 out of 4) requests for deposits at check-in, either 1000 or 500 so be prepared with cash or card number. Whether it's new trend or just kind of my bad luck remains to be seen. Dragon fruits are quite big this year so it looks covid works well for that crop. And jet lag is still killing me, as usual 3rd day is the worst. Getting old is no fun, jet lags, twinks and other disasters don't compensate for a fact that from time to time somebody yields the seat in the subway car or bus.

  6. It was supposed to be Jun 2020 trip but Thailand did not let us in, then I tried my luck for October this year but canceled it. When Thai Pass came to an effect I decided to finally utilize that prehistoric ticket I bought back on Dec 3, 2019 for Jun 2020. And here I'm, feeling like chewing gum after 27 hrs trek, locked in my hotel room, waiting for a nurse to come and take my sample for dreaded PCR test. First time took Swiss and must say that their good reputation is well deserved, massive Boeing 777 plane was surprisingly full with plenty of mixed Thai-Caucasian couples prominently visible in statistic sample and a lot of young people. Few nice surprises on arrival. Thai bashers will be disappointed to hear that admission process was extremely efficiently conducted, well organized and well staffed. In reality they want to see your passport, Thai Pass QR code, immigration T6 form or whatever it'called AND YOUR BOARDING PASS FROM LEG BRINGING YOU TO THAILAND, somewhat unexpected. At 6 am weather extremely pleasant, perhaps no more than balmy 23,even now at 9.30 I' m sitting in my room with balcony door wide opened, AC turned off and all that in the room actually facing the sun. Traffic was also light, Sunday morning has it' s charms. Dtac booth selling Sim cards was opened, just past luggage belts and I noticed 1 exchange booth open but rates were kind disappointing so I did not change money there. Somebody reported messy and disorganized taxi procedure but it was not my experience,as you leave customs area there tables with names of participating hotels and somebody will lead you to your car from there. I must say I need to bite my tongue not to ask my hotel representative if he would be interested in LT since he will be right in place on the Moonlight stage. That is it for now, I will try to update you guys but test, results and well deserved rest first before I even venture anywhere from my temporary and quite pleasant confinement.

  8. Sorry this is rather late. There is a Marriott Hotel and Resort Travel Fair at Paragon offering substantial discounts for bookings at the Marriott chain Thailand properties mostly through to next June. In many cases the discounts are 50% with add ons like breakfast for 2, upgrades and daily credit. 21 hotels have been on offer last week but that offer end today (Monday). These include several in Bangkok, Phuket, Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai, Pattaya, Hua Hin, Khao Lak and Samui. From tomorrow there is another week of discounts with a different 21 hotels and resorts. Most are in Bangkok but there are some in Phuket, Samui, Rayong and Hua Hin. These remain on offer until December 21. I have checked various travel sites as well as Marriott's own site. The offers are genuine discounts of around 50%. Of course, who knows what other discounts may be offered over the next few months, but I suspect these are about as low as you will get.

  12. Oh lucky you-krap khun much and hope it will all be even more pleasant along the balmy sea overthere. You were apparently just too late to take profit of the free introductory time for the 2 red lines by SRT. There are also many more wats with a boat-shaped building in-even 1 south along New Road coming from Silom. I guess there might even be another red line stop along or just above the old train stop-it certainly was under construction. Re bus-stations (satanee); Ekamai is due to be demolished soon by now-a new one is to go up much further along the BTS close to motorway-or maybe it goes to somewhere near Swampy airport. SaiTai-new is in fact as such quite a pleasant and well-organised bulding, more a shopping centre, but its way out in the sticks. The new red line nr 2 also does not come near. Agree with your impression of Swiss-have also used it quite a few times untill coming back the day covid struck last year. They used to have 2 flites/day, the other operated and code-share with THAI. Keep us informed (well, you will) and hope you can stay a long time!

  13. Thailand's ramped up inoculation efforts appear to be paying off. From Bangkok Post Fewest new Covid deaths since June There were 20 Covid-19-related fatalities during the previous 24 hours - the fewest since June 14 - along with 3,787 new cases, the Public Health Ministry said on Sunday morning. There were 3,782 cases in the general population and five among prison inmates. This compared with 39 coronavirus-related fatalities and 4,079 new cases reported on Saturday morning. Greater Bangkok had no new deaths while other central plain provinces further from the capital recorded six more deaths - in Prachin Buri (2), Phetchaburi (1), Chanthaburi (1), Chon Buri (1) and Ratchaburi (1). https://www.bangkokpost.com/thailand/general/2230547/20-more-covid-deaths-fewest-since-june-14-and-3-787-new-cases

  14. Was in 202 today for Junior’s birthday. No apparent signage requiring vaccination status that I could see. Also I wasn’t asked for my vaccine card and neither were my two companions, just like 117. 202 was super packed today! If you’re at all paranoid about COVID and social distancing, tonight was not a night for you to come. The show was good and there was free food, and Junior was giving away these cups as giveaways:

  15. I'm not sure how making light of sexual assault helps anyone. It isn't a joke to the people who are assaulted, and it feels quite gross to suggest they'd be more amenable to advances because they'd been assaulted enough to somehow be ok with it. How about "I hope in the army he learned to be more open minded about sexuality and more willing to experience new things." You can say the same thing without suggesting that Thai men getting raped by their superiors is somehow something to say "ha ha" about. I've known people who have suffered sexual assault. The spiritual scars can last a lifetime.

  16. I May have said it, but many are thinking it. It's nice to "reminisce", but the question was about Carnaval 2022. Many of your replies are regarding things that happened so long ago, some of the GP's weren't even born yet. Maybe Oz can make a History channel board where we can all go back and talk about the old times in Brasil, Mexico, Thailand, etc....

    Silom bars

Next in opening line is Fresh boys, I visited on Tuesday, familiar Mamasan, ( no, not Lucy), few fully dressed boys on the stage so it, s just beginning but start it is ! Twink lovers would pick somebody, that sure thing. Drink 350, boy drink the same. Mamasan told me that Tawan will be moving across the soi, news confirmed by one of their boys I met on Wed in Sabaidee spa. At this time, no sign of moving though. The same Tuesday at Jupiter I survived (barely) shock of my life. 20 years after I first went there I received a smile from one of their guys and it was, repeated few times. So when they did their usual parade, still fully dressed and handsome as always I rewarded him with 500 note so that historical moment was not lost neither on me nor on my pocket. For now they have karaoke format with few guys on duty waiting in the wings I. E. on their phones and not paying attention to audience and their but considering circumstances it makes some sense. Smiling guy was kind of exception. I should take an advantage of situation but that night I had another expactancy, not realized as I learned later. At one point karaoke stopped and for few minutes guys made their usual parade on the stage and audience, whole few of us and still couple od them managed studiously to avoid even cursory eye contact so old habits die fast but as I said, there are signs of encarougemnt. SoiTwilight is now green space, even if fully boarded and inaccessible, I will post picture later as I have it in plain view from my Raya window.

    Soi Than Tawan

Golden Cock and Nature Boy have amalgamated. No surprise there, as they were always close and the guys visited each other's bar from time to time. The owner of Nature Boy often had parties in the old Golden Cock. Lots of fun times and great memories.

    Silom bars

Last night show at Dreamboys was almost like old days with lip sync singing by glorious ladyboys, c****k sucking, big c****k presentation, vigorous dancing by Johnny etc. Notable absence was f****k show and, thanks God Almighty ladyboys's dicks presentation. Even ridiculously loud music was the same like before. Guys on stage fully or half dressed with top removed. Not to many of them though and quality still lacking. Mamasans pushy as always, quite well attended. All that did not prevent disaster- Vinapu was seen leaving with twinky twink, cute like hell and according to Reuters, AL Jazeera and Russia Today they did not go to neither church nor Wat Hualampong. Late night CNN report stated that Vinapu was happy which is beyond comprehension, him and twink, go figure, world is turning upside down.

Thanks Santiagodc for the answer. I am planning to visit Egypt from 22nd to 27th April. Although it was not advised here to explore the contents of the pants of men in Cairo, I will still devote one day to this city and visit one of its hammams.

  23. Police ban the appetite for booze in Jomtien’s gay street By Barry Kenyon December 11, 2021 A police raid at the Jomtien Complex, sometimes known as Super Town, has effectively closed the open-street gay bars just one week after they had reopened. It had been widely assumed that the bars were in the clear serving alcohol provided that they had obtained the SHA (Safety & Health Administration) certificate issued by government bodies. However, Pattaya police and officials from the Department of Provincial Administration, which issues licenses, pointed out that the SHA certificate covers many types of businesses including restaurants, accommodation, travel agencies, health spas, souvenir shops etc. The SHA is not in itself a go-ahead to serve booze. The other requirement is that the business is licensed to serve food and – crucially – has eating as its main income earner. Bars which serve booze as the mainstay, but offer food to customers as a sideline, are not deemed to be eligible under the Chonburi governor’s provincial edict of December 4 which specifies “restaurants”. They must also have the SHA certificate which requires a vaccinated staff, satisfactory sanitation and high-level public services. The popular Yupin’s restaurant in the Complex is an example of a fully-qualified business which can legally serve beer, wine and spirits to dining customers. Police captain Tanakit said that the bars in question were really posing as eateries to justify selling alcohol, but this was not the purpose of the provincial edict which was designed to limit the spread of Covid. If bars wished to operate, they must offer food and soft drinks only and should close by 9 pm. Making a commercial profit on this basis is a no-no, although one Complex bar has been open for coffee and cakes for several weeks already. Properly licensed restaurants with SHA certification can serve alcohol from 11 am to 2 pm and 5 pm to 11 pm under the provincial decree. Police added that they had received reports in the last few days that parties had been held in the offending bars until well past midnight with minimal attention paid to social distancing and mask wearing. No bar owners, staff or customers were arrested during the initial raid, but warnings were issued in clear language. The Jomtien Complex, prior to the pandemic, was the center of Pattaya’s once-famed gay scene with competitors Boyztown and Sunee Plaza already well past their prime. Police later told reporters that they were not specifically targeting gay venues, pointing out that their raids until now had been on non-gay establishments operating illegally. But bar workers in the Complex commented that a merry Christmas 2021 now seems out of the question. Government spokesmen have said that the intention is to allow night life to operate normally from mid January. But this depends on the success of the national vaccination program, the level of Covid infections and, in particular, the behavior of the Omicron virus variant. Meanwhile, Pattaya’s well-known nighteries such as Walking Street and Sexy Soi 6 remain mostly shuttered. Shaking off the resort’s ghost town image is proving very difficult indeed. https://www.pattayamail.com/latestnews/news/police-ban-the-appetite-for-booze-in-jomtiens-gay-street-382600

  24. I've been called anti-American more than once. Now the Brits will have me in their sights for a whistleblower has blown the lid of the British reaction to the withdrawal from Afghanistan. A former civil servant desk officer at the foreign officer has heaped criticism at the British government and its lies after the evacuation. Among his allegations - 1. The government falsely claimed that every request for evacuation had been logged. Thousands of emails, even those sent to Members of Parliament, had not even been read. 2. Up to 150,000 Afghans applied for evacuation. Fewer than 5% got any assistance. Some who were left behind have been murdered. 3. Even for those whose pleas were actually read, there were no regulations for deciding the criteria re who should be eligible. Foreign Secretary Dominic Raab had approved a list that included judges and intelligence officers, but final decisions were left to individual officers. 4. Guards who had protected the British Embassy were not prioritised. 5. Telephone calls were only to be in English. The Dari text of emails inviting Afghans for evacuation was inaccurate because it said a printed version of the email was necessary to enter Kabul airport when a digital copy was sufficient. 6. Despite the gravity of the situation, there were insufficient civil servants to undertake processing and overtime was only very reluctantly agreed. 7. Civil servants from the former Department for International Development who had volunteered to help were "appalled by our chaotic system." 8. Despite the huge numbers trying to leave, the Prime minister instructed the Foreign office to use "considerable capacity" to help animals to leave the country. So animals are given an aircraft at the expense of British nationals and those at risk of imminent murder. What a disgrace! https://www.theguardian.com/world/2021/dec/07/whistleblower-on-uks-afghan-evacuation-main-accusations
