we have two choices : to allow ourselves to be scared to death by every news coming from here and there well before their possible severity is confirmed or vaccinate ourselves , wear mask and try to live our lives as close to normal as we can. I opt for a second option if only because none of my enemies got so far seriously sick with covid nevermind died from it, so if they survived barely scratched so must I.3 points

The biggest open question is how severe the illness is from this variant or how deadly it might be compared to the others. If it's able to get around the vaccines that's obviously a problem since it appears to be more transmissable. But I've seen some reporting today about other variants that seemed like they might be a problem at first but they all got squeezed out by delta.1 point

I had multiple dinners with them recently and the food is always fantastic. It is quiet there. But, good food.1 point

They have few options, partial refund, full refund in case u would like to stay somewhere else, or allow u to do the pcr on departure instead as some airline/country might require it. Or they can simply ignore and says this bew ruling only apply to new thai pass applicants.1 point

I have the Pixel 6 Pro. It's great. My 4+ year old OnePlus 5 wouldn't hold a charge anymore so I needed a replacement. Probably any 2021 phone would seem like a huge improvement compared to that. The cameras are very good. I guess that as the phone learns you it's supposed to get even better at anticipating what you want. A lot of reviewers complain about the size but it doesn't seem that much bigger to me.1 point

last episode of 7 Project quite funny and I think many of us can relate when we recall our first love, whoever it was, no BL though but two familiar faces from "love by Chance" and " Unill we Meet Again" . Baker Boys finally released and it's very promising after episode 1/4, likely will be fun. Familiar faces too Sample dialogue ;" we can't be breaking up just because Bangkok roads?" Excellent Thai pronunciation by the actor below / temporary forget his name /, finally I started to recognize words, by episode 102/3 I should be good in Thai1 point

Sexy, Shirtless Australian Firefighters Return for 2022 Calendar Matt Ross on the 2022 Australian Firefighters Cat Calendar cover The World’s Hottest Australian Firefighters are back! Now in its 29th year, the internationally-acclaimed Australian Firefighters Calendar is setting hearts on fire again! With over 750 million FB views and distributed in over 100 countries last year, the world’s most iconic calendar is back bigger and better than ever! The photoshoot is a 25-day animal lovers’ extravaganza. Much loved pets, Australian wildlife, farm animals, therapy and rescue horses from all over the South East Queensland come together to take part in the photoshoot. It’s not always smooth sailing producing the worlds most loved calendar. The calendar fans only see the best of the firefighters and the animals behaving nicely together in the calendar photos and promotional videos. “Calendar fans would laugh at the number of bites, kicks and scratches the firefighters receive during the photoshoot. There are times I consider if we shouldn’t have a full-time nurse on set, it can be like working in a zoo, it’s fantastic fun!”. Brett Cunliffe – Lead Photographer. Website: www.australianfirefighterscalendar.com Facebook: @AustralianFirefightersCalendar IG: @australianfirefighterscalendar (continued) Aaron on the 2022 Australian Firefighters Cat Calendar This year the parents of much-loved Cats and Dogs entered their fur babies to take part in the photoshoot. In some cases, they come from hundreds of kilometres away just to be a part of it. “We received over 5,000 photos of every type of animal you can imagine to take part in the photoshoot and they enter from all over world. We even had a lady from Moscow that wanted fly her cat to Australia! It takes one month to sort through all the eligible entrants”. Crystal Doohan – Australian Firefighters Calendar Creative Director. There are many new faces in the 2022 editions. Ben Church is a firefighter from Western Australia that was selected to take part in the photoshoot. “I wanted to do it for my Grandma and Mum, they were so proud that I was selected to take part in the photoshoot. They embarrassed the heck out of me by emailing the calendar co-ordinators advising them I was the most handsome firefighter in Western Australia and the guys have not stopped reminding me of that! Thanks Grandma and Mum!” Ben Church – DFES Firefighter Another new face is Ricky Smith, a Brisbane based Firefighter “I received a phone call congratulating me that I had been selected for the 2022 Australian Firefighters Calendar, I thought to myself that I had never sent an application in? what is this guy talking about? I found out later that my girlfriend had done it without me knowing. Before I knew it I was standing in front of seven members of the photography team. I was absolutely terrified, I have never even taken a selfie!” Ricky Smith – QFES Firefighter. (continued) Ben Church for the 2022 Australian Firefighters Cat Calendar The recipients of donations from this year’s calendar are heavily focused on community animal welfare groups. “The unsung work that many of these volunteer-based organisations do is outstanding. Without these dedicated wildlife warriors many sick and injured domestic and wildlife animals simply would not survive. These wonderful people are the reason we try so hard to produce calendars that not only help raise funds and awareness but also honour their work.” David Rogers – Director – Australian Firefighters Calendar The Byron Bay Wildlife Hospital is one of many important native Australian hospitals that the calendar will support this year. “When the bushfires occurred earlier this year, I had a nine-week-old baby at home and felt helpless for all the wildlife that were affected and the vets that were trying to help them. When this position popped up on my computer, I applied straight away as I felt I could really try and make a difference” Dr Bree Talbot – Wildlife Veterinarian – Byron Bay Wildlife Hospital. Brenden for the 2022 Australian Firefighters Cat Calendar The 2022 Australian Firefighters Calendar will also be supporting the following organisations: Native Animal Rescue Wildcare Inc Safe Haven Animal Rescue Australian Seabird Rescue Fauna Rescue of SA Healing Hooves Reason to Thrive Kids with Cancer Foundation Currumbin Wildlife Hospital This year the usual 5 fan favorite editions will be available, the Classic, Cats, Dogs, Horse and Mixed Animal editions will be made available to fans. And for the first time ever, the firefighters are heating things up with a Summer edition calendar featuring firefighters having fun in the sun on some of Australia’s most iconic beaches. The inaugural Summer calendar cover features Australia’s fittest firefighter, Matt Haydon. This article (published today) presents different facts about the fate of Hua Lamphong that reflects what Day Dreamer posted above. From Thai Enquirer Thaksin calls for the preservation of Hua Lamphong station Former Thai Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra took to social media late on Tuesday to talk about government policies related to old buildings and decry rapid urbanization at the cost of culture. Among the sites that needed to be preserved was Hua Lamphong station, which should become a hub of soft power. “I would definitely keep Hua Lamphong,” he said. “It is irreplaceable and invaluable…and it can be made to be even more valuable,” he said. Thaksin said it could be transformed into an exhibition hall for people from around the country to come and show their local wisdom, talents and products. “It can be transformed into a soft power hub,” he said. The train station, which was built in 1910, closed on Wednesday and all rail services moved to the new Bang Sue Grand Station. Transport Minister Saksayam Chidchob said the ministry and the State Railway of Thailand (SRT) have plans to redevelop the 121-rai station for commercial purposes by clearing it to make way for condominiums, hotels and malls. However, the main station’s architecture will be kept as a museum. The Fine Arts Department said last week that they will register the railway station as a official national heritage site to protect it from development plans. They have yet to say how much of the land should be conserved. Thaksin said the loss-making SRT should not only be thinking of selling the land to pay back their debts. The state-owned enterprise’s debt was over 100 billion baht in 2020. “Hua Lamphong should be given back as public property for people so that it can be used to promote knowledge, as a meeting center for the new generation and many other purposes…instead of just cutting it up and selling it as pieces.” https://www.thaienquirer.com/35246/thaksin-calls-for-the-preservation-of-hua-lamphong-station/1 point

that's right, in spring I made few reservations for October hoping they will work as charm but they did not so I cancelled them nd money was back in my C/C account next day. One thing to watch is whether booking is cancelable , most of them those days are but terms vary from 1-7 days before arrival but still there are some which are non-refundable.1 point

Bangkok Saladaeng Road Senso closed. Soi Wallstreet (?) Moonlight closed. Patpong All the gay etablissements incl. Bangkok Massage looked closed. 1-2 Ladybars (restaurants?) open. Foodland + restaurant open. Silom Soi 4 Many places open and not all were restaurants. No shortage of alcohol. Well visited at the weekend. Jupiter closed. Silom Soi 6 Most of the massage places open and one of them advertising on Hornet. Tawan and The Sun massage no sign of life. The Quarter Hotel: pretty new (If I remember correctly z909 reported a year ago), compact rooms; before introduction of the Thailand Pass the room rates were a bargain, now a bit higher but I would say still ok. Visitors allowed (must/should register at reception). There are at least 2 other wellknown places in the area "discretely" open (one I heard from a boy, and for the other I talked with a guy at the place in the afternoon because the door was open). Silom Plaza Arena open. 5 "boys" available, age 30+, but not my type. The Best Massage open. Quite a few boys were sitting and smoking outside, let's say "manly twinks"? Saphan Kwai GBeat Massage open (there is a separate thread about this place). Reservation recommended - I did not but luckily one of the three boys I had in mind was available - a guy with amazing body and a toilet paper roll Massage was a bit repetitive (1 hour is enough) but left very satisfied. Take exit 3 at BTS station Saphan Khwai and while going down the stairs look to the left. You will see the name "Le Bonheur Poshtel" on a building, that's the building opposite of GBeat. There are other massage places in the same road, one looked gay.1 point -

From the BBC website We're back in familiar territory - growing concern about a new variant of coronavirus. The latest is the most heavily mutated version discovered so far - and it has such a long list of mutations that it was described by one scientist as "horrific", while another told me it was the worst variant they'd seen. It is early days and the confirmed cases are still mostly concentrated in one province in South Africa, but there are hints it may have spread further. Immediately there are questions around how quickly the new variant spreads, its ability to bypass some of the protection given by vaccines and what should be done about it. There is a lot of speculation, but very few clear answers. The variant is called B.1.1.529 and is likely to be given a Greek code-name (like the Alpha and Delta variants) by the World Health Organization on Friday. It is also incredibly heavily mutated. Prof Tulio de Oliveira, the director of the Centre for Epidemic Response and Innovation in South Africa, said there was an "unusual constellation of mutations" and that it was "very different" to other variants that have circulated. "This variant did surprise us, it has a big jump on evolution [and] many more mutations that we expected," he said. More at https://www.bbc.com/news/health-594181270 points
