  1. It's why instead succumbing to doom and gloom we should start plotting next trip to catch what is left. Bright sight is, with aging we may lose interest in debaucheries changing interest to herbal remedies and new formulas of Preparation H so our Thai problem may solve itself.

  2. From Reuters / BP Lao police have seized a record haul of illicit drugs in the Golden Triangle region, two security sources in Thailand confirmed on Thursday, in what the United Nations said was Asia's largest single drug bust ever. More than 55 million amphetamine tablets and over 1.5 tonnes of crystal methamphetamine were intercepted by Laos police on Wednesday, who stopped a truck carrying beer crates in northern Bokeo, which borders Thailand and Myanmar, the two sources told Reuters. Jeremy Douglas, Southeast Asia regional representative for the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) said the discovery was "by far the largest seizure in the history of East and Southeast Asia". The bust on Wednesday followed the confiscation by Lao police of a combined 16 million amphetamine tablets in two separate busts in the same area over a one week period. https://www.bangkokpost.com/world/2205623/laos-makes-asias-largest-drug-bust

  3. Richard Barrow's Newsletters and bulletins are the most reliable and up to date information. (Usually posted WAY BEFORE anything appears on the Bangkok Post website!). Last week he corrected info. on a CCSA infographic. Very soon he will be coming back to Thailand (only a week or so away) and will recount his airport experiences.

  5. As you said Thailand is so "in your face" with the go go bars full of naked boys/girls , explicit fuck shows and foreign "daddies" and their much younger local guys/ girls escorts much more than other countries this is why Thailand earned its reputation as sex destination. many might see it in a bad light but not me this is what I liked about Thailand the liberal attitude about sex and the tolerance and acceptance of gays , Unfortunately @macaroni21 is right Thailand is changing more and more to Family friendly destination because the conservative Thai elite feeling uncomfortable with the sex destination image of their country and are determined to change it especially with the long closure of the entertainment venues many will go bankrupt and Thai elite won't shed a tear about it , I am afraid the post COVID-19 era Thailand won't be the same anymore and we will left with good memories of the old Thailand which gone forever .Sad.

  6. I had coffee with a former business colleague yesterday. She is on the fringe of the group @macaroni21 mentions and I'd call her medium-so rather than high-so. She is a well-travelled lady whose husband spent much of his working life in New York (her first husband died many years ago). I'd call her very open minded, but she detests the reputation Thailand has as the sex capital of Asia. She certainly does not believe for a minute that "temples and elephant parks" are what drives tourism. She does believe that Thailand competes with countries like Malaysia and the Philippines for family beach holidays. Since this is a gay chat room, I think we tend to forget that many millions of families do visit Thailand for that very reason. I remember a week I spent at a 5-star hotel in Khao Lak about 7 years ago. I only went because a travel site had a 70% discount. I had forgotten that my week was the week after Easter. All the other guests bar a few Japanese were European families. An afternoon having a look at other up-market beach hotels showed a similar clientele. Tours to Phang-na, the Andaman Islands and others were fully booked. Khao Lak had no sex scene at that time (or I believe has at any time). My Thai friend has known for years that I am gay. She fully understands that many capital cities in Asia have a thriving sex scene. What angers her is that in Thailand it is so "in your face" internationally, as it were. As a regular visitor to Tokyo she had no idea there is a thriving gay scene in Shinjuku, Ueno and elsewhere until I told her. Same with Taipei. But then few visitors to those cities know about their gay scenes because they are no understated.

  9. From Reuters / MSN Thailand readies for tourism reboot with reopening test-run BANGKOK (Reuters) - Thailand held a dry-run on Wednesday for its long-awaited, quarantine-free reopening to vaccinated travellers, as the country rushes to reboot an industry battered by an 18-month hiatus in international tourism. At Bangkok's Suvarnabhumi airport, Thailand's main gateway, airport staff and health and immigration officials ran a simulation of the arrival of a plane full of visitors, to test out electronic screening measures. "All the passengers will get their QR code checked by the Department of Disease Control," said Kittipong Kittikachorn, the airport's general manager. "It will include all the details about insurance, vaccine certificate, or hotel booking." https://www.msn.com/en-gb/news/world/thailand-readies-for-tourism-reboot-with-reopening-test-run/ar-AAQ0Nfn

  10. I personally didn't feel any difference walking to Metro around 8pm in Centro (Meio Mundo) or Gloria (117). Stayed in two different hotels in Copacabana, both within 15 minutes or so walking distance to 202 from opposite sides, walking back to hotel around 8 or 9pm felt perfectly safe too. A lot of people are still out having dinner or cheering for their football team. Morning walks on the beach around 6:30 or 7 felt just fine as well. No problem at all during the day in Centro, Gloria or Copacabana. Business as usual other than face masks pretty much. Condolences to anyone who experienced any violence in Brazil, I understand one incident could traumatize someone for a long long time. So far so good for me.

  13. Please read Richard Barrow's newsletters! He is the most knowledgeable writer on the situation here. Only last week he spotted two errors on official CCSA infographics. As to 'light at the end of the tunnel' not till start of December for clubs and bars.😭

  14. Negotiation is not really about the price, who cares about the 50 or 100 extra. More importantly, if the boy knows you are clueless about the price, he probably assumes you are also clueless of what boys normally do in the room. I always chat with the boy via google translate to get a feel of the boy. Those who don't like to chat, just want to go straight to the room I would avoid. In the early years without a cell plan nor wifi, I would go to the room with a boy without mutual agreement of what we would do, often ended up with the boy insists on giving head with condom and just want to get it over with quickly. I have learned not to rush or be rushed, and not be shy about discussing expectations openly. Also, when you find a boy you like, don't hesitate and wait, go after him and make future plans right after if you like your time together. You are only visiting for a couple weeks, might never run into him again. If your home mobile plan doesn't work in Brazil, do get a local sim for using google translate, maps and uber, a must have for a great trip.
