Lagoa today

I’ve never really been one for writing trip reports. Nothing I put together is going to have numazu’s flare. I also have zero interest in others critiquing my negotiation tactics with the boys which are basically predicated on the fact that a night out where I live that does not involve two “lean and toned and fully vers and passionate” guys that are two-thirds my age costs a good deal more than what I spent at Lagoa on the first night I was there. That said, I have learned a good deal from this forum that was very useful when I first started traveling to Thailand several years ago and, at least of late, there has been a dearth of trip reports containing current info so (and against my better judgment), here goes: On Wednesday at Lagoa boys outnumbered clients by a good bit. Even though there were only two boys that really did it for me, most of the boys there were attractive, especially if you like muscle. Negotiations started at 200 in both cases and ended at 150 because, well, they were both really hot and I did not travel here to quibble over 50 R. In both cases though I’m pretty sure they would have agreed to 100 which leads me to Saturday night…. On Thursday, I met Gabriel at Lagoa who was absolutely gorgeous. Negotiations started at 200 and quickly ended at 100 as soon as I offered it. We ended up spending the entire night together though so I gave him more which seemed to make him very happy. While I was with him I learned that he had literally arrive the day before from Minas Gerais. Friday, I traveled to Rio and went to Point 202. Client to boy ratio favored clients just as it did at Lagoa. At Point there were two guys that did it for me and just as it did at Lagoa negotiations started at 200 and ended at 150. In this case though, I’m not quite as sure they would have gone lower if I had pushed. Unfortunately, both guys were mechanical when we got into the cabins and I don’t think I will be seeing either one of them again. I also don’t like the cabins at Point very much. The ones at Lagoa are nicer. Saturday morning in Rio I met a 23 year old using the apps. He was a total bottom which is not usually my thing but he had an incredible body and said he wanted me to “help him with his English” so I agreed to met him figuring that he would probably try and get some money out of me at some point but, well, that never happened. He really was just a hot 23 year old that liked bottoming for someone that was about 15 years older than him. If you’re wondering, yes, I did help him with his English too. He had a lot of questions which I answered as best I could. We spent most of the next few days together and I never made it to 117. A picture of him is attached to hopefully make my post a bit more interesting. Last night I was back in SP and I spent it with Tiago who was one of the guys I met on my first night at Lagoa.7 points -
There's no formula that can analyze the the nature of individual relationships that had their origin in the exchange of cash for service. It would be naive to think that whatever money we give to the guys we know doesn't affect how they see us. But that's not only not a bad thing, it's to be expected. Over time they can come come to think of us as their patron. Here's the classical definition from Webster's that I prefer: a person chosen, named, or honored as a special guardian, protector, or supporter. And to those of us who've enjoyed a years-long relationship, I think this applies. When does someone go from customer to patron? That's surely up to debate but I think it's measured in the what emotional ties develop. If we're only concerned with what occurs between the sheets--not that there's anything wrong with that--then the whole customer/patron thing probably doesn't matter. But when we begin to simply enjoy the company of that guy, and come to know him truly as an individual, I think friendships can indeed blossom. I agree with Vessey's comment that it's "far from in inevitable," but firmly believe it's possible. I think that much of it depends on the emotional satisfaction each derives from the relationship. That, to me, is when we become patrons and, yes, possibly even friends.3 points

You are spot on, vessey! Although I tend to stick with 2 regular guys -1 in Pattaya and 1 in Bangkok - we all know they are actually working - tham gan. I sometimes mention this to them so that we are all on the same page. They are lovely guys and very friendly and we have lots of fun times outside of bed as well as in, but they are not my friends in the real sense. They have their own friends and don't need me.3 points -
Fundamentally, all the boys we meet in the bars and have fun with, also consider that they are 'working'. Keeping us happy in the bar and back in our rooms is all work to them, whatever 'connections' we think we make with them as individuals. Even the boys I have been seeing for years still regard me as a 'customer', albeit now a 'good customer'. Things can become quite friendly, but take away the money and that friendship rapidly fades. Can it ever grow into more than work?, well yes it obviously can, but that's far from inevitable.3 points

If you're traveling to EZE and GRU, I can fully appreciate that size is a significant consideration. I doubt there's a much need for penis enlargers at either location. 🙂3 points

Biden had no choice but to leave. He was boxed in by the Trump/Taliban deal and had to proceed. Also, leaving is the right thing to do. Twenty years was more than enough time to learn we couldn't actually change the local culture and have a lasting impact (duh??). It is and will continue to be messy as we exit. The images are ugly and could get worse. The potential for substantial loss of life (of Americans and foreigners) still exists over the coming weeks as our exit proceeds. It is pretty much dependent on how the Taliban acts as people try and get out. I am given to understand that many Americans and allies in the country are still not located at the airport. Will they all be able to get to the airport for safe passage out? Probably not all of them. The price we pay as we exit should be a lesson to all future leaders of the cost (in human lives) of wars and limitations that wars actually have. I support Biden's decision to exit Afghanistan (working within the timing framework set by Trump). Staying on and fighting would be pouring good money after bad there with zero chance of success. I hope the further loss of life will be minimal. I fear it won't. Oh...and let's stop pretending we can export democracy to far-flung countries that we know little about. Democracy hardly functions in the USA. You can forget about it in Afghanistan.3 points

From The Nation PM Prayut Chan-o-cha on Wednesday announced Covid-19 restrictions could be eased next month amid signs the infection rate is slowing. However, tighter Covid-19 safety measures were needed to combat the outbreak of Delta variant, he said via Facebook. Prayut acknowledged the daily caseload had risen above 20,000 since lockdown measures were imposed last month but said the number of patients recovering is now higher than the infection rate. He said his main concern was the fatality rate, especially among the vulnerable group of elderly people and those with underlying health conditions. Thailand’s daily Covid death toll soared to a record 312 on Wednesday. Prayut said the infection rate will likely reach its peak this month before dropping in September. This would allow authorities to adjust the control measures and relax some restrictions on businesses and activities, he added. The Centre for Covid-19 Situation Administration (CCSA) recently extended lockdown measures in Bangkok and 28 other provinces until the end of August. The CCSA has meanwhile decided to elevate safety measures under the Universal Prevention method to be practised by every individual. https://www.nationthailand.com/in-focus/400048671 point

Without Brazilian ID, activating a prepaid sim through the official telecom store is a very painful and time consuming experience. Not surprising, since for a visitor that is going to stay in Brazil for only a couple weeks, they are really not making any money off you. The easiest way I found is to buy a prepaid sim in the kiosks (the many small mobile stores selling magazines and small things, 1 street in from the beach along Copacabana). Almost all of them have prepaid sim from various providers. The last time I was there in 2019, you can get prepaid sim including 1 gig data for 1 week cost 20R. To activate it, I tip a boy in the sauna so that he helped me activating it using his id and personal info. Recharge is easy, can be done in most supermarkets with cash, was 10R for each additional week (1 gig data).1 point

From Thai PBS / Thaiger Thailand’s massage parlours and spas are suing the government, demanding compensation for the loss of income they’ve endured as a result of Covid-19 partial lockdowns. Thai PBS World reports that 172 massage parlours and spas filed a class action suit against the Finance Ministry and the government. They are demanding to be compensated for the financial losses they’ve suffered since last year, as a result of Covid-19 restrictions. According to the Thai PBS World, the suit has the support of Aksika Chantarawinji and Pitak Yotha, MPs from the opposition Move Forward Party. Aksika has spoken out in defence of the massage businesses, saying they haven’t received any compensation or financial assistance, despite being closed since last year and hearing repeated promises of soft loans from the government. Furthermore, despite working in high-risk jobs, calls for vaccines for massage workers have been ignored. Meanwhile, the deputy leader of the Move Forward Party says the class action suit is being brought in order to get justice in a court of law. Sirikanya Tansakul describes the government’s treatment of massage businesses as unfair and insensitive and says the legal action will set a precedent for other businesses who’ve been similarly affected. https://thethaiger.com/coronavirus/massage-businesses-file-class-action-suit-against-government-over-covid-restrictions1 point

Afghanistan - Yet Another US Mistake Is Now Happening!
splinter1949 reacted to PeterRS for a topic
1. I am sure you are correct. But I do not agree he was boxed in. He still had a choice as to precisely when to leave. After all, Trump had said he would pull out everyone considerably earlier. Also, Trump did not invite the Afghan government to these talks. It was as though he were the pro-consul acting on behalf of the entire Afghan people. That said, though, Biden has to bear all the blame for the disasters of the last week. He has said on several occasions that he had full faith in what was in effect the US installed Afghan government and its armed forces which the US had spent years and billions of $$ training up. When he made his announcements in April, he had had months to consider it (after all, it as a campaign promise) and to obtain advice from supposedly the best experts in the world. The CIA estimated it would take the Taliban a minimum of 6 months to gain control and as much as a year. This is the same CIA which got things so wrong in Iran, so wrong in Vietnam, so wrong in Iraq! One wonders why there has not been a total clear out of many of its top officials in that agency. I have no doubt it does considerable good. but when it comes to the US disasters in its overseas invasions, someone has to be accountable. Amid all the Republican's trashing of Biden's mishandling of the departure, I I notice that the Republican National Committee has deleted a webpage hailing Trump's peace deal with the Taliban! But Business Insider still has a screen shot. Note that Trump's so-called agreement permitted the CIA to stay on in Taliban controlled Afghanistan! Did anyone seriously expect that would ever be allowed to happen? Trump's deal making another fiction! https://www.businessinsider.com/gop-removes-page-hailing-trump-taliban-deal-2021-8 2. That successive US governments have thought they had some God-given right to spread democracy around the world is one reason for its foreign disasters since the end to World War 2. Democracy means different things to different peoples. But you cannot impose it on peoples who for centuries have remained clan and tribe based and have little idea what the word means. It has to come from within. Hopefully all countries will pay heed to the this in future. The following is part of the webpage from the RNC which was taken down 2 days ago. PRESIDENT TRUMP HAS CONTINUED TO TAKE THE LEAD IN PEACE TALKS AS HE SIGNED A HISTORIC PEACE AGREEMENT WITH THE TALIBAN IN AFGHANISTAN, WHICH WOULD END AMERICA'S LONGEST WAR On February 2, 2020, the Trump Administration signed a preliminary peace agreement with the Taliban that sets the stage to end America's longest war. Under the agreement, the U.S. will withdraw nearly 5,000 troops from the country in 135 days in exchange for a Taliban agreement to not allow Afghanistan to be used for transnational terrorism. Time Magazine reported that other components of the agreement included an agreement that U.S. counterterrorism forces stay in the country, permissions for the CIA to operate in Taliban-held areas, and details of how the Taliban's promises to reduce violence will be monitored and verified. The deal has been called the " best chance to end this conflict ," a " decisive move " towards peace, and " the best path " for the United States. The war in Afghanistan is the longest in U.S. history, a conflict that has killed more than 3,500 U.S. and NATO troops and cost U.S. taxpayers nearly 900 billion dollars. As part of the peace agreement, the Taliban and the Afghan government recently began historic peace, talks which would end decades of war that Afghanistan has consumed. The negotiations will cover the terms of a " permanent ceasefire, the rights of women and minorities, and the disarmament of the country's many militia groups .1 point -

If you're into gemology, the DR has a lot of amber (which is not really a gem, I know) and the even more rare "blue" amber that changes color under certain lighting. Too bad they haven't gotten into a lot of men's jewelry but some places would custom make cufflinks or whatever for you. I was at the Cine Lido a couple years ago. Pales in comparison Cine Lido the first time I was in the DR nearly 20 years ago. Back then, it was hopping with strapping young guys who needed to get off. Now that they all have infinite porn on their phones, no such luck.1 point -

Interesring to see how the death risk vs age are linear in log scale. Similarly, seems like vaccine reduced the risk by the same amount regardless of age. Malaysia also released the data of infected health care workers that are fully vaccinated. Out of 250k HCW, 7.5k have been infected, thus 3.05% of them have been infected despite constant exposure to the virus. Very impressive indeed. And out of those, only 17 require hospitalization (category 3-5) and 2 death. Most if not all HCW received 2 doses of Pfizer vaccine.1 point

Phuket Quarantine Update - Personal Information

From Coconuts Bangkok Phuket ‘7+7’ scheme expands travel options to other islands Thailand’s ballyhooed sandbox just got a little bigger. The COVID-19 task force on Monday gave the greenlight to the so-called “7+7” extension to the Phuket sandbox. Effective immediately, the new program will allow fully vaccinated travelers arriving from abroad to spend seven nights on Phuket and then another seven in select other destinations before being able to move freely around Thailand, current restrictions aside. Those other destinations include Koh Phi Phi, Koh Ngai, and Railay in Krabi; Khao Lak and Koh Yao in Phang-Nga; and Surat Thani’s three holiday islands of Koh Samui, Koh Phangan and Koh Tao. https://coconuts.co/bangkok/news/phuket-77-scheme-expands-travel-options-to-other-islands/1 point -
I do one thai guy i know who has onlyfans, and several others thai guys are actively producing onlyfans contents and promoting it through their social media. So to answer the OP, yes, there is some that transition towards online platform. As to why people like it, its basically porn. Voyeurism, ability to ask performer to do what u want etc. For me, i am tempted, especially if the boys are those i already know. It is an alternative to actually meeting them as we all know its not possible. Having said that, like u also mentioned, free porn are everywhere, so if u pay for subscription etc, its just another way to show your support to the performers.1 point

The easiest beach to reach is a day trip to Boca Chica beach which is about 40 minutes east of the Colonial District in Santo Domingo. You can grab a local bus (multiple trips daily) for about 400 pesos or hire a private driver to take you out and bring you home at the end of the day. I have typically paid 2500-3000 pesos for private car service. The beach can be very busy on weekends and the vendors are aggressive. But you will get an authentic, fun day at a Dominican beach. For something less hectic, you can make the trip to Guayacanes (further east towards the town of Juan Dolio) which is popular with locals looking for a day away from the city. Highlights in Santo Domingo for me would be the old Colonial Zone and the Plaza de España. Plenty of local boys will be openly cruising in this neighbourhood, looking for some paid work. I also like to spend a night on the Avenida Venezuela in East Santo Domingo at the bars and clubs where you can dance bachata to your heart's content. The federal district around the Palacio Nacional is fun and safe to explore, and I always make a stop at the botanical gardens. The Parque del Este y El Faro are in the east of the city, next to the Tres Ojos lake. I was not overly impressed with Los Tres Ojos underground lake caverns, but others enjoy it. The park area is fun to explore and you will see many Dominican out playing sports or jogging here. And since it was brought up, the famous Cine Lido was open when a friend of mine visited in July 2021. The phone number if you want to be certain is (809) 764-0537.1 point -
From Bangkok Post Weeds are seen growing around taxis parked at a company parking lot, after drivers were unable to pay rent on them due to the economic hardship of Covid-19 and more than a year of no incoming foreign tourism, in Bangkok, on July 20, 2021. (AFP file photo) The governor of the Bank of Thailand (BoT) has called for an additional 1 trillion baht in government spending to counter coronavirus, saying the blow to the economy from the pandemic is greater than from the Asian financial crisis in 1997. The government can fund additional spending by borrowing more, BoT Governor Sethaput Suthiwartnarueput said Monday at a briefing in Bangkok. Even if public debt tops 70% of gross domestic product by 2024, that would be manageable given high domestic liquidity, low borrowing costs and the country’s current-account surplus, he said. “Additional state borrowing will help support GDP’s growth potential to revive at a faster rate, and will lower the debt-to-GDP ratio in the long run,” Mr Sethaput said. “If the government doesn’t quickly provide additional economic support during a time of high uncertainty and to shield against a prolonged crisis,” public debt will remain at a high level and will be difficult to lower in the long run. https://www.bangkokpost.com/business/2166135/bank-of-thailand-head-says-virus-fight-may-need-1-trillion-baht-more1 point

Just watched last, the 8th episode. Final episode a bit oversentimental and overdramatic at the same time but overall I liked series quite a lot. Sun is most manly man from all BL series released this year so far. Very unique exploitation of real life problem - rare blood type. After a while I may be tempted to watch it again, badge of honor as far as me and BL series are concerned1 point

Have you read all of the posts from guys who've been there and posted here. You yourself can check out the airbnb website. Many of the advertisers cite whether or not guests are allowed. Send BlkSuperman a pvt and question. Also, TripAdvisor.com has places to go and things to do. Perhaps you'll want to peruse and decide. I was in Santo Domingo in 2005 under normal circumstances; unfortunately, I can't recommend anything, for I've forgotten. (Sorry) Because we're still in a pandemic, I'd assume the X movie theater that was discussed some months back is closed; along with Manny's procuring some guys for you-- you can run some of the preceding questions by him as well. In my past readings, Manny also serves as a tour guide if that what one's desires. In late 2022 or mid 2023 I hope to find myself in the DR. [Before it escapes my mind, do a walk about in the Zona Colonial; check out some YouTube presentations. ENJOY immensely.1 point -
Ugly showdown

From Thai Enquirer Police deny using live rounds against protestors The police said Tuesday they did not use live rounds during the previous day’s protests. “I insisted that the crowd control police only used non-lethal weapons,” said Police Lieutenant General Pakkapong Pongpetra, the commissioner of the Metropolitan Police Bureau. “No live rounds were used, but the protesters had weapons that could harm the police.” “Live rounds have been used but we do not know who used them,” he added. “Police officers were injured and vehicles were shot at while steel balls, nuts and ping-pong bombs were also used.” The protest by the Thalu-Fah group started off peacefully at Victory Monument before the march to the Government House around 5 pm. The protest was then called off around 6 pm after the police fired tear gas and water cannons at protestors who were trying to remove their barriers. However, some protesters refused to go home, leading to a violent confrontation with the police at Sam Liam Din Daeng Junction and then at Din Daeng Police Station. Pakkapong said three people were injured from unknown weapons during the protest. One of them, around 20 years olds, has a wound on his neck and there is a piece of metal lodged in his body, he added. Rajavithi Hospital said on Tuesday that the patient came in with a gunshot wound on the left side of his neck, and a bullet is now lodged in his brain stem. They have not been able to identify him because he did not have ID. The hospital said he was not breathing when he was brought in around 10 pm on Monday. It took them six minutes to resuscitate him and he is now in a coma. The police said the initial investigation shows that the injured person was running from the Princeton Bangkok Hotel and was passing the front of the Din Daeng Police Station before he fell to the ground 50 metres from the station. https://www.thaienquirer.com/31385/police-deny-using-live-rounds-against-protestors/0 points
