    Istanbul Report

This past December I had a chance to spend three weeks in Greece and one week in Turkey. I’ll write about my Athens and Greece experience in another post when time allows. I had travelled much of Turkey several times before with tour groups but had very little luck with finding guys. My one bit of luck was on a previous expedition where I was in a hot air balloon over the Cappadocian mountains with a sexy Turkish balloon guide. When he found out that I was single, he started rubbing his dick. I was able to play with it a few minutes until we had to land with the other balloons. Had a been a little quicker and started on take-off, I could have given a blow job to a Turk as the sun rose. Alas, those are missed opportunities. My most previous visit to Turkey has been to Istanbul for one week about one year ago. I had one bad and one good experience. The bad experience happened when I met a sexy Turk in Taksim Square and we walked over to Taksim Park for sex. As we got on the back side of one of the trees on the back section, it became clear that he had a knife he was holding in his right pocket as he walked. Now I understand the need for his own protection, but I was not keen on finding out if he was going to rob me. I stopped, pointed to the area, and then said NO. I then pointed to another section (the east side near the hotels) and motioned for hm to walk with me there. As we walked I was trying to think of a way to run or exit the place. At that moment two policemen were walking through the park. I saw them and just waved and started saying “Hello, hello, can you help me?” The young man immediately started walking away and when the police arrived, I simply asked them to give me directions to my hotel. I had read on the internet about horror stories with guys in Istanbul, so I was very wary of future street action. The good experience happened happened on my last night at the Aquarius Sauna which is quite famous. The place seems to close and reopen every few months. It had just reopened and I ventured into the place. I had a great experience with one Turkish guy that was mesmerizing. Fast forward to December when I decided to try my luck again in Istanbul. I first went to visit the three bars/clubs and two caffes you can find on the internet. Even with Covid, they were open and quite busy. I immediately had a few young Turks come to talk with me at each place. Their English was not that great but sufficed. Because of my not knowing Turkish, I decided to not chance an encounter with any of the guys. I considered a blow-job for one, but the bathroom could not hold the two of us at the same time. At another bar I finally met two Turkish guys that spoke English. Suddenly this older British man said hello to me and asked if I would join him for a drink at his table. He then proceeds to tell me that I was about to fall prey to a scam. The Turkish guys/escorts had been making it a habit of taking a foreign guys back to their hotel and robbing them. He warned me that they also spiked drinks and had carried a French guy out the previous week when he seemingly looked to be drunk. This British man and his partner are retired living there. He said it was not very safe in parts of Istanbul right now for gays, so even they introduce themselves as “business” colleagues. He did give me one interesting insight. He said that Grindr and Planet Romeo would have plenty of straight, masculine, Turkish guys available for sex, but there had been too many horror stories in Istanbul about what happened when these guys got to a client’s hotel or apartment. Instead, he said I should choose a gay man that was clearly a bottom and maybe even effeminate. They said I would have a better chance of not having a gay attack another gay. Well, I tried it and found one sexy university student on Grindr who joined me at my hotel with no problem. He was a bottom, gay, slightly effeminate, and had an amazing body. He told me many sad stories of openly gay men trying to live in Istanbul. I spent three evenings with him and still keep in contact. I also decided to return to Aquarius Sauna during the day hours. I had one bad experience and three sexy experiences. The bad experience was a young Kurd that had the body of a God, promised to kiss on the lips, and would allow me to suck him for 700 lira ($99 USD). When we got to the room, he would not kiss at all. I tried to leave and he pushed me into the wall and wanted the money. I said NO and motioned that first there was the blow job and then the money. He laid on the table, I gave him the blow job, and then we exited to the cabin. I gave him the 700 lira and he demanded more. I told him NO and immediately walked to the bar area. The guy did not follow, but the bar guy heard me and asked (in English) what had happened. I explained and he said he would ask the guy to leave since he had followed me to the cabin (notice… NOT because he had lied!). I was then offered a drink and two other Turks came to talk with me. They offered themselves as a top and a bottom for 500 lira each ($70 USD) if I wanted some group action. I was soured on the prior experience at this point so I left. I returned the next day and those same two Turks offered themselves again. I decided to take them up this time and we had a great experience for four days in a row (kissing, cumming, sucking, fucking, getting fucked). AQUARIUS SAUNA: This can be a bit scary if you have not been there before. Search on the internet under google maps for photos. The entrance is off Istiklal pedestrian road that connects with Taksim Square. The street is Katip Mustafa Çelebi, Sadri Alışık Sk. No: 29/1, 34433 Beyoğlu/İstanbul, Turkey. You can find a marker in Google maps for the location, as well as a 360 view where you can walk through the sauna. You enter off the main road, pay your fee of 50 lira ($7 USD), and then go down a set of steps to the cabin area. You are given a cabin with your own key, a towel, and sandals. You disrobe in the cabin, wrap the towel around you, leave your valuables in the cabin, and then lock the door. You then can walk into the lounge area where all the boys will be sitting. There were about 10 boys on each visit I was there. I then went to the bar on the right and got myself a drink watching carefully how it was made so as not to be spiked. At that point I had brought the International Herald Tribune so I started reading it. The boys will immediately start to approach you for business. The whole place is very dirty to my taste, but they were trying to keep it clean as you can see from the photos. The rooms for sex required you to go up the very narrow set of stairs to the left of the bar area to what I can only describe as an attic. Once at the top, there were a series of 8 rooms that were about 10 ft by 20 ft. each, with a table/mattress (see the photo on google…the room you see there is CLEAN if you can believe it!). This was the most cramped I have ever been for sex. The guy will spray the mattress with a disinfectant, and then place a large towel/blanket over the mattress. When you are finished, you return to your cabin to retrieve the money. The guy is not supposed to follow you back to the cabin. WEBSITE (the photos in google are better): www. aquariussauna.com PAY: The gay guy from Grindr asked for 400 lira ($56 USD). He was so good I gave him 800 each time and also met for some meals. The Aquarius guys wanted 500 lira per person for the package deal, but the others were all asking for 700 lira ($99). I was told by the British couple that the going rate paid offered a Turkish client at Aquarius was 300-400 lira ($42-$56 USD). Good luck!

  2. I did the Vat Phou Mekong River cruise a few years ago which was really nice. Amazing sunrises and sunsets, great service, good food. And then did a little tour in central Laos which didn't have much in the way of services, hotels, etc. but the nature is spectacular. If they ever get their act together Laos could be a great ecotourism destination.

  3. I hope you will also consider visiting Luang Prabang the old royal capital. It is a fascinating small city that is now a Unesco World Heritage site.

A vote from me, too, for the Agate. Really like this hotel. Sad to see those pictures but pleased to hear they will be reopening.

  5. Gay Bangkok is slowly coming back to life. And, by slowly, I mean really slowly. Jupiter Boy and I took a night out tonight and things were pretty quiet on both Papong and Silom 4. A few updates. Narawat Massage on Silom 4 is open and guys are outside working. Banana Room is open with a few guys there. Telephone and Balcony are both open with some customers. Hugs is open. Private Bar is open. Jupiter was open but few guys working. Lucky Boys is not open and rumor has it that it may not open anytime soon and may even get sold. Dream Boys was open with about 15 guys but not a lot of variety. Screwboys was closed. Fresh Boys was open and had 8 guys and 1 other customer. Some cute guys and drinks 350 baht. Hotmale was open and had 5 boys when we were there. Moonlight was closed. Tawan was closed but the Sun Massage was open and several of the Tawan guys were out on the street. Mango Tree Restaurant was open but I think for a private party. Super A was closed. Nature Boys was open. When I pulled up Hornet, there were about 90 guys under 25 without 3,000 feet. One of them caught our attention while we were looking and he was near the Starbucks so we met him and took him home. The Grab Taxi there did not allow for us to be picked up as no drivers available. The same on the return. It was odd. The road were VERY quiet and few cars anywhere. This was the first weekend with all the bars open and still a soft opening IMHO. But, it only takes one and thus, Hornet was a good provider tonight.

  6. One of the pleasures of this town (in my opinion) is the large number of eating establishments available. There seems to be a wide and eclectic choice to suit most occasions and budgets. Like many people I haven't been back since the pandemic, but I've been to many on past trips and everyone has different experiences but here are a few of some of the favourites I've enjoyed so far: Top end: Cafe des Amis, Indian by Nature and Casa Pascal. Mid Range: Le Bordeax, Suggestions (went by motorcycle taxi out, but by grab back as further than I thought in the east side but well worth the visit), Cafe John, Wine Cellar Poseidon, La Bocca, Ruen Thai, Robin Hood Avenue. Budget: Food courts in both Central Festival and Terminal 21, a couple of restaurants on the street beside Tukcom (sorry can't remember their names), Nickys on Buakhao, Tinnies pie and mash. For future visits there are several more i want to try. Examples include Akavit, Retox, La Notte, Patrick's steak House, buffet at Hilton, buffet at centara. I've also spied several reasonable looking places in T21. I've heard good things about Au Bon Coin. I'd like to try some good Western style Chinese so will try the Royal Cliff Chinese restaurant. I'd also like to dip in and try some street food - just haven't been brave enough yet! Would love to hear of any suggestions and experiences - especially for Indian and Chinese restaurants in this town - any budget. Assuming they're still there when we're allowed back, of course.

  7. From all the restaurants I've been to in Pattaya, Poseidon is the best and I've returned several times each trip. Their special evenings, like the gourmet and the 16-dishes dinner, were always fully booked. During my last trip, I even stayed in the Poseidon Residenceabove the restaurant. But I prefer Agate hotel. Chef Bart is from The Netherlands and has a mix of European and Asian kitchen. Delicious!

  11. When borders reopen, Vientiane is definitely on my list. I only visited once for 3 days but loved the city. I only hope that some of the quaint restaurants and bars have made it through the crisis, would really like to revisit them.

  12. As a long time fan of Phare Ponleu Selpak non-profit school and their social business extension Phare Circus, please allow me to respond to PeterRS. Phare Ponleu Selpak is a local, grass-roots non-profit association founded by guys who were refugees during the Khmer Rouge. In the refugee camp, an art teacher from France used drawing as therapy. After the war, they opened the school together to use art therapy to heal the community. Art therapy is still at the core of the association, but it has grown to provide other arts related experiences, education and opportunities. The students come from unimaginably difficult social and economic backgrounds: abject poverty, subsistence farming, broken homes, etc in an impoverished country still recovering from near genocide. They discover and develop talent at the school, and some go on to careers at Phare Circus that didn't even exist in the country before. The world-class entertainment organizations you mention certainly set the global standard for circus arts, but the comparison with Phare is apples to Rolex. Chinese circuses are enormous productions with equally enormous budgets. Performers are recruited from all over the country. Cirque du Soleil is equally big-budget and recruits top circus performers from around the globe, including one from Phare who was in the production "Volta" before the pandemic closed them down. Phare performances are nothing like those you mention in terms of technical perfection and budget, but Phare performers bring something not seen anywhere else. They share their own life experiences in the performances. They create the stories themselves drawing from recent Cambodian history and modern Cambodian society. It's from their hearts because it's their life. The big top is intimate and the artists are within arms length. You make eye contact and see them sweat. They might even end up on your lap. It's an experience unlike any other. It's even more moving when you consider where they came from and what they have accomplished. Many had never left the rice field or their small village. They may have never had money to buy land or build a home. Now they shine on stage and earn a good living, literally transforming their lives. If you have 30 minutes to learn more, Al Jazeera did a documentary called "Cambodia: Circus of Hope". It's perhaps the best 30-minute sharing of the Phare story and it's impact on lives.

Although not in Jomtien Complex, there is T5 Suites Hotel that is open. Located on Soi 5 off of Thappraya road. Near Mike's Mexican Restaurant. Halfway between Jomtien and Pattaya. Short ride on motorbike taxi or Baht Bus. Inexpensive.

    More Gay Over Time?

I dont have really fluid sexual tendency, just stereotypical gays that like men since as long as i can remember. Even watching straight porn, i focus on the guy. Im at a point where my family is expecting me to get married and i cant possibly do that to any girls, to marry a guy who had no feeling towards her at all. Having said this, when watching straight porn, im not at all repulsed by seeing women naked, but not excited by them, or more like feel indifferent. Even my preference for men are those straight-acting manly men.

Silom soi 4 BUSY BUSY BUSY!

I was in Soi 4 and then Soi 2 last night and confirm things were BUSY. Stranger bar packed as in "normal" times, with people spilling out into the Soi. Soi 2 was busy already after 11pm, and got packed around midnight. Also almost just like in "normal" times, minus the gazillions of (mostly Chinese, in recent years) tourists. That missing contingent of patrons meant that the upper floors of DJ Station were empty and everything just happened on ground floor level, where it was busy indeed.

    More Gay Over Time?

It is a huge relief to find that I am not alone in my ever morphing sexual preferences. I put on my tag on other forums that my interests are 'anyone who make my cock hard', and that is pretty much it. I am bisexual, but at the moment at least the gay side predominates. From adolescence in the 1960s and 70s I was aware that I had an awakening sexual interest in both sexes; an all boy grammar school no doubt was part of that. But peer pressure and social convention kept the gay-side closeted away, aside from the occasional platonic obsessions. Pattaya changed all that, my first trip in 2009 was all girl, but 'noticing' and feeling curious about ladyboys. Second trip early the following year was principally a girl one, but introducing a couple of (for me) life-changing ladyboy experiences into the mix, and following trips girls and ladyoys. My home life, for various reasons, remained effectively celibate. Then in 2015 a walk of curiosity through Boyztown ended up with my first full gay sex in Scandic Massage (I still see that same boy as one of my 'regulars'), by 2017 my trips were maybe 80% boy with the occasional ladyboy and girl experience thrown in. 2019 and mostly boys but with the occasional girl thrown into a threesome mix. 2020 was a year of internet porn at home, mostly gay, but also bisexual threesomes and the odd ladyboy. Like I said, anyone who makes my cock hard! Hopefully I can return later this year, who knows, and who knows who will be sharing my bed this time?

    Istanbul Report

Years ago I had a lot of trouble getting an escort into my hotel room in Istanbul, so when I was there in Jan/2020 I got a room a block from Aquarius and went there three nights in a row, there were many young hot, masculine Kurdish men there, although I spent time with the same guy each night. He was incredible. They always ask for more money, but in the end I'm getting an intense, fantastic experience I'd never get at home and it's still less expensive than anything I'd get at home. I've travelled with people whose whole day is ruined by a taxi driver who cheated them out of 50 cents. It's not worth the grief to get upset about that.

I have been to TW twice. Actually I find it quite easy to hook up with local guys there so I only once resorted to a MB (and he was Vietnamese and I knew him from before in HCMC). Rate was 2000 NTD. I have no idea of what local guys will charge; presumably slightly more.

  23. Agreed, sort of jarring to think I'll just head over to Boy's Town, hunker down in Toy Boys and secure a date with an unmarried young man. Not, I think, in Thai parlance.
