  1. Multiple areas have started to open back up and started to open up to other provinces. Samut Sakhon is the major area where things remain totally closed. There are higher numbers of Covid cases daily but most remain in that area (if you believe the testing publications).

    Restrictions being lifted

well as I'm sure you are well aware, absence of evidence in and of itself doesn't mean anything. If nobody looked for evidence (by running a study), there will be no evidence. And indeed there is anecdotal evidence that drinking and partying DO have the potential to spread the virus. One potential super spreader even currently makes headlines, where a birthday party by a semi-celebrity (DJ Matoom) led to at least 28 infections (more being investigated). So that's evidence that partying is risky. Of course bars are not all the same, and in a gogo bar there will be close to zero interaction between patrons, whereas in a place like Soi 2 or Fake Club there will be plenty. Where do you draw the line and distinction as a government? You can't, really, so you do a blanket closure. While I, too, find it an inconvenience, I can relate to the rationale.

  3. I watch, every day, the summary in English of the CCSA press conference meetings. I can't quite work out why the presenter stresses that the high amount of daily infections (today 756) is not necessarily bad news. I can only assume that what he refers to as 'active case finding' refers to some sort of 'track and trace' system where many more tests are being done and it therefor follows that there will be far more infections detected than without testing. Two things I would be interested in seeing --- 1) data to show how many cases have been spread due to alcohol drinking at public places and 2) what is Thailand's 'R' number.

    Gay St. Petersburg

Totally agree with Michael about the boys. The subway line to Catherine's Palace passes the Technology Institute. There were many young guys on the train and all looked very handsome. I thought one was looking at me - probably wishful thinking! We had booked our hotel in January for a visit in May and were really worried that hotels are generally quite expensive. Then we noticed that one of the travel sites had a 24-hour only special 60% discount including breakfast for the 5 star Corinthia Hotel on Nevsky Prospekt. We quickly snapped up a room on the Executive Floor. It was fabulous. The 18 year old student waiter in the Executive Lounge was strikingly handsome. This had nothing to do with the fact that his striped pants were slightly on the tight side and his back view was a joy to behold!

  5. Thailand to warmly welcome inoculated travellers Foreigners who have been vaccinated against Covid-19 will be welcomed with open arms by Thailand through a new campaign set to launch in 3Q2021. Titled Welcome Back to Thailand Again, the campaign is the country’s bid to reclaim lost international arrivals throughout the pandemic. According to Chamnan Srisawat, president of Tourism Council of Thailand, Thai travel operators have started talks with agencies in potential markets, such as China, to restart destination marketing and prepare for future trips. More than one billion people across the world are expected to be vaccinated by the end of June 2021, which could bring about a return in travel demand. If the campaign proves successful, it could save up to 400,000 hotel jobs and 400,000 in related businesses across Thailand. In 2020, 6.9 million foreigners travelled to Thailand, down from 40 million in 2019. It is predicted that Thailand will only see 10 million footfalls this year. Source

    It's not unusual.....

Ah so someone had dumped a Boeing 747 close behind this suspected public toilet somewhere near Siam @ Siam in downtown Pattaya... Nothing in Thailand surprises me any more.... However, I wonder what made you spot that fuselage just behind the urinal wall? We’re you using said Privy, or were you cruising, or are you just a closeted plane spotter?!

  13. No. Everything isn’t about you. These are private Facebook groups where (majority straight) black men discuss their travel — a number of them are straight whoremongers and sex tourists that travel for women, the way many men in a group like this one are sex tourists for men. The black gay men that are in these groups don’t really discuss their sexcapades.
