  1. From Bangkok Post Private hospitals reserve Covid-19 vaccines ahead of approval wo private hospitals have ordered millions of doses of coronavirus vaccines ahead of regulatory approval, adding to government orders of vaccines as Thailand tackles a second wave of the virus. "We ordered one million doses of the Sinovac vaccine with an option to buy nine million more," Boon Vanasin, the chairman of Thonburi Healthcare Group Plc, told Reuters. From the initial one million doses, he plans to use about half to inoculate staff in its network of 40 hospitals and workers in his other businesses, once receiving approval from Thailand’s Food and Drug Administration (FDA). The government has separately ordered two million doses from China's Sinovac Biotech and expects delivery of 200,000 doses with plans to inoculate frontline workers and medical professionals in high-risk areas next month. The government has also ordered 61 million doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine, which will be produced by local firm Siam Bioscience for domestic use and export. "We can’t just wait for the government," Boon said, adding that it was not clear how many doses from the government’s vaccine stockpile would reach private hospital workers. For patients, Thonburi's medical centres plan to offer two vaccine injections for 3,200 baht. Another private hospital, Vibhavadi Medical Centre Plc, has ordered 10,000 doses of the Moderna vaccine, managing director Chaisit Kupwiwat, told Reuters. So far, the FDA has received registration requests for the Sinovac and AstraZeneca vaccines. Thailand is expected to approve one of the vaccines this week for emergency use, Opas Karnkawinpong, director-general of the Department of Disease Control, told a briefing without elaborating.

We should be very thankful that he took on all the tasks of keeping gaythailand going and ensuring it was the most active and varied of the various Thai chat rooms. It is inevitably part of the job that the owner of a site will occasionally receive some flak from time to time. With his passing, our gratitude along with Michael's comments is surely all that needs be said.

To be clear, he never owned gayguides.com He did own the gaythailand website for almost 9 years. He ran the site and the board. He had help from his long time companion in the beginning and then he did it on his own. He got tired of the constant updates code requirements (remember, it was a profile site and not just a forum). He was going to close it down completely and I asked him to let the forum continue. The profile section of the site was just too old to update easily. However, I have always loved the forum. He kept the name and forwarded it over to gayguides.com with the full forum in tack. I did remove posts earlier in this thread regarding this as I was unaware he shared that information with anyone other than a few close friends but there is another thread on another site about this so I wanted to clear things up. He encouraged me to take my first trip to Thailand many years ago and met me there and showed me around Pattaya. He was a good host. We traveled together over 4 continents. He had no tolerance for anyone who treated the boys in an unkind way. I have never met one lad that he went with that did not say how kind he was to them. He was kind to them and to me, and that is what matters to me.

  11. presumably it would be added to the airfare, of course shown and made transparent in the "taxes & fees" section of the airfare breakdown. That has existed forever and also includes the airport departure charge, which in the past was indeed inconveniently payable in cash at a dedicated counter. I see nothing wrong with that. As for the insurance, yes traveler may already have insurance. That maybe most true for western travelers like most members here, but i seriously doubt Asian ones would have it. Same for the infamous backpacker.... 34 Baht sounds like nothing, but the vast majority of the 30+ million tourists we once had and may have again will never have any need for medical services in their short stay. So for the minuscule portion that does those 34 Baht may go a long way to buy enough coverage. As for the remainder of the fee: in principle it's a good thing if it goes to the right uses, such as tourist infrastructure, keeping beaches and national parks clean, etc etc. However, this being Thailand, that's a bit IF.... A non-negligible portion will probably disappear in some pockets.... But it's a start.

  14. Although I have never been to a US spa so actually I can't compare, but in Thailand most customers go there for sex rather a massage. Once you get there (no need to book in advance) you choose the guy in person or from iPad (some places you will be able to book in advance). Pay for the massage at the front desk. Often a minimim tip to guy is stated and it will include a H/J. Paid directly and discretely to the guy when you are are ready to leave. Mostly places you will get a sensual massage - in particular if you order a oil massage - and some point the guy will ask if you want extras/add. services and agree the price/tip for such services with out. You will be naked (unless for traditional thai massage) and the guy either start naked as well or remove his clothes at some point during the massage /when things start to heat up. You can ask the guy to remove his clothes immediately if important to you. Some guys are prepared to offer "full services", some only limited, some will be vers, some top but not btm, so you need to ask the "captain"/front staff when inquiring about the guys before selecting your guy. Don't worry/don't be embarrassed; he knows already that you are not there for the massage and has been asked the same hundreds of times before you. Just ask!
