my December trip to Rio and SP
Riobard and 4 others reacted to MiamiEthan for a topic
I’ve decided that based on current spikes, new strain and the dozens of pics on insta of my friends partying in Rio without masks, that the likelyhood of me not getting Covid during a January visit is slim to none. I’ll just wait until March or so when I can get a vaccine and am confident that (a) I am much more protected from geting Covid and (b) [and this is my real fear] I can be relatively confident I wouldnt contract it and then give it to someone and make them very ill or worse. Thanks for all the pointers! I’m sure they’ll still be valid in March/April when I visit after I receive the vaccine. And, I’ll post about my trip at that point. Happy New Year everyone!5 points -
I know you have decided against going to Brazil @MiamiEthan until possibly March, but I thought I'd get my 2 cents in, while it is about 4 PM here in Fortaleza where I am now, and the BF is sleeping at the moment, and soon we shall be hitting the saunas here. Yeah, these months are the sweet spots for cheap biz class flights. In August to October time, the pandemic meant having a whole economy row to yourself to recline and sleep the flight away, but I've found in my flight back in November, and again in December, with the flights getting fuller, I decided that those still cheap biz flights were the way to go, and actually helped my clinch Executive Platinum in American for the first time ever. As for non-sauna activities, plenty to do in rio of course, but be reminded that in pandemic times, a lot of the acitvities are still either closed or scaled back. And sadly, when it rains in Rio, its actually kind of depressing, because of the beaches and such. I've found that winter in Rio (June to August/September) is the perfect time to go, as it is not oppresssively hot, and precipitation is the lowest in the year. I've had my best, and funnest, times in Rio in these months. So maybe its probably best that pospone your trip anyways. I was in Rio last week and there was appreicable sun to enjoy in 3 out of the 9 days I was there. It was glorious when the sun was out, but two-thirds of the time, I was indoors. Have a warm boy to cuddle with at these times, which, quite frankly, is not hard to do there. The best teacher is experience, and all the preparation in the world won't prepare you for what you will encounter in the saunas. i'd say just dive in and enjoy! But to answer your question: Are the folks naked - no. the majority of the people in the sauna have towels wrapped around their waists. The more bold garotos will be jacking off their erect penises to entice punters, and some will give you a flash of the goods, in the guise of adjusting their towels. Some saunas have naked nights, where the boys can get in for free, if they are naked all night, but I've never encountered this in Rio (or SP) saunas. Are the clients naked? Thankfully, no. Again, most are in towels, and some are even in street clothes, except if the sauna require everyone to be in towels (I'm looking at you, Sauna Olimpo in Belo Horizonte). Some boys have a strategy and wear either skimpy undies or gym shorts with no underwear, to help distinguish them from other towel-wearing boys. It works sometimes, if the boy has a big juicy butt that gets obscured by a towel, so undies will accentuate this, or has a big penis even when soft, so thin gym shorts will show the pendulum swinging. TL;DR - most people are in a towel. Safe bet for you, if you want to blend in. No you don't rent a room when you get in, you only do when you are ready to do the dirty with your prince charming. Or in my case, if I needed to join a work conference call while in a sauna. I recommend doing this while a boy gives you a blowjob. Best conference call ever. Room rates depend on the sauna and day and type of room, but generally can go from 20 reais to 60 reais, for 40 minutes to an hour each time. Most of them don't speak English, but nothing beyond what is required in a sauna can't be solved by google translate. The majority of the boys know the basic phrases to ask to get what they need, and it is actually comical when a boy resorts to sign language. Still, this trip, I found a surprising number of GPs I had the pleasure of knowing, actually knowing more than basic english. Which was bad for me because I always want to practice my Portuguese with the locals. I didn't sweat and toil all these years to learn this language, to only speak english while in Brazil. Since you are months away from your trip, I suggest at least knowing some phrases. Sample here: https://www.travelandleisure.com/travel-tips/basic-portuguese-words-phrases-for-travel . I'd also listen to spoken PT on YouTube if you have the time. So at least you know how it sounds like. I do not have experience with Fasano, but its a mixed bag sometimes when it comes to Rio lux hotels. Some hotels don't care about the occasional guest (JW Marriot, Pestana), but some either require the guest to leave their ID at reception, or even insist they be registered with you in the room (Hilton). If you are gonna have parties/orgies at your room with a handful of GPs (and why not right), best be at an AirBNB. There are Rio AirBNBs with english language listings and english speaking hosts. that are in apartment buildings that won't have a problem with guests. Just be vigilant that a listing does not mention "NO GUESTS ALLOWED" in the rules of the house. You don't have to haggle. Say no if you think the price is too high. No boy is irreplaceable. Trust me. 9 times out of 10, they'll haggle down for you. Just (a) agree on the price before the programa and (b) agree on what you expect him to do when in the room, to avoid confusion. I always ask for the price. I am always curious what they think of me, based on the price. But if you have a price per programa in mind (or can afford), don't be afraid to quote it. The worse that can happen is they say no and walk away. Move on. I do hate the favorable exchange rate the dollar has with the real, because I made it rain last week in Rio. And it was not with water. I'd nail down any specific freaky thing you want to be done to you beforehand. I always prefer having the boy to myself when discussing this. Sometimes a boy is embrassed to say he is a bottom, or sucks dick, or pees on command, or whatever else you want out of him, in front of others. And yeah I do like the getting a kissing sample out of them before a programa. I get a sense on how close a boy wants to be with me in that kiss. If you are at all concerned about COVID transmission, then simply delay your trip till after a vaccine at least. I think all the signage and mask wearing of the employees in the saunas is simply theater. There is lots of mitigation while in the general areas of Rio, but in the saunas, noone wears a mask expect the employees, and how would you ever mitigate COVID when you are getting your freak on with a boy? Hazmat suit sex is not appealing. MEEEEEE, but you have postponed your trip to possibly March, so maybe see you then!3 points

It is a good name and I did think since everyone loved Rentboy that Boytoy would be the same. It wasn't. I can assure you that they will never had any stake and the site will continue. It is not about making money but about a true passion for me. Correct. It would not be allowed and I would report anyone who posted it. It certainty was not my desire to make you feel vandalized. And, I do sincerely apologize for this. But, it is not just 40 photos. They always state "and any other" which could lead down a tough pathway. It is not only time and labor but how quick things are done. Anything not removed fast, you are liable for damages. Not a risk worth taking. Yes, I agree. My hats off to them! I love the Asian guys as well! We will see. But, an open forum allows for so much more. True. But, that is just some appreciate it. To be fully appreciative, links to them work. In one thread that was mostly from Tumbler (I think) there were over 80 images that were removed by the owner due to cc issues. That is not in the 40 I got notice from. Agree if done the right way for sure. Thank you all for your comments. I know there are hurt feelings, confusion, and uncertainty. All I can say is that the photos are an issue and I solved that problem in the best way I could. Also, I am assure you that the I'll continue to work to grow the forum and the board and try to make it even better than before. Try is all I can do.3 points

I dont think there should be any HURT feelings in this matter. Disappointment perhaps ?.. but it is a business of sorts and the owner has to do what they must. With the incomprehensible loss of life around the world due to Covid, especially in the USA, it seems so silly and disconnected to lament the loss of a few hundred "pretty boy pics".. As I said before, the situation IS what it IS and everyone needs to move on from it..... If the desire to post "pics" is that strong, there are other outlets for that hobby, and everyone is free to post THERE.... No worries Oz....2 points -
From Pattaya Mail After reporting more than 20 new coronavirus cases in a day, Chonburi’s governor ordered cockfighting and similar venues closed and reinforced limits on operating hours of bars and massage parlors in an effort to stem the spread of Thailand’s second wave in the East. Chonburi Gov. Pakarathorn Thienchai issued a similar order to one put out Monday afternoon by the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration shutting down massage parlors, go-go bars and animal-fighting rings while limiting pubs to offering anything only food before midnight until at least Jan. 4. The order came after 22 cases tied to a new coronavirus cluster in Rayong spread to Chonburi, including 17 cases in Banglamung District that includes Pattaya. Alcohol is not banned and pubs that enforce strict social distancing and offer food will be allowed to continue to serve. Initial reports late Monday said Walking Street bars will be permitted to open until midnight, although the situation is fluid and could change at any time. Establishments subject to the order are defined by the Service Places Act of 1966 and includes businesses where music is performed, instruments are arranged for customer use, services allowing customers to sing or have employees sit with customers, offers dancing or offering dance shows, light shows, food and liquor.1 point

What are you guys currently watching? I started "The Gifted Graduation", probably not as good as "The Gifted", and "Manner Of Death" which I like a lot so far: Interesting story, and it is nice to see some countryside and greenery for a change! With a grain of salt is how you have to consider news reports coming out of Bangkok. On Monday the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration said that massage parlors, entertainment and other venues were to be closed through Jan. 4. Bar boys had been informed Sunday night not to report for work the next day. The next evening, contrary to Bangkok Post article above, I received texts saying that Patpong venues were open. There's only one explanation that will be universally and immediately understood: TIT.1 point

I was planning to go at the end of 2021, as I would not risk taking a long trip in the midst of this crisis that we are experiencing ... And I also read here that the "offer" over the years has declined, so the risk of traveling in this season and not enjoying it is even greater.1 point

How close is a vaccine ?
splinter1949 reacted to reader for a topic
From Bangkok Post Herbal Covid treatment cleared, vaccine registration opens Health officials said Thailand is ready to register Covid-19 vaccines after separately approving the use of a herbal plant extract to treat early stages of the disease as a pilot program amid a flareup in the coronavirus outbreak across the country. Andrographis Paniculata, commonly known as green chiretta, will serve as an alternative treatment to reduce the severity of the outbreak and cut treatment costs, the health ministry said in a statement Wednesday. The treatment will be available in five state-owned hospitals initially, it said. Thailand reported 250 new cases on Wednesday, taking the nation’s total to almost 7,000, and a government official said the rate of increase in local transmissions was alarming and urged people to stay at home to prevent the virus from spreading further. The government has also banned large gatherings in high-risk areas, said Taweesilp Witsanuyotin, a spokesperson for the national Covid-19 response centre. The herbal treatment will be on a voluntary basis for those in the 18-60 age group with minor symptoms and should be within 72 hours of confirming infections The extract from the plant, known as Fah Talai Jone in Thai, can curb the virus and reduce the severity of inflammation, the ministry said, citing studies. Human trials showed patient conditions improved within three days of the treatment without side effects if the medicine is administered within 72 hours of testing positive. Separately, the Thai Food and Drug Administration (FDA) said it’s ready to register Covid-19 vaccines. The FDA has opened a special channel for the registration to ensure speedy processing.1 point -
Great trip report! That hotel price near christmas and new year is unbelievable. The new hotel near prime definitely intrigued me, since i like my previous stay at nantra silom location but not fancy their cleanliness, and glass windows into the bathroom seals the deal for me lol. Never stayed in tarntawan myself but at 700+ baht, i wont hesitate to try too.1 point

Apparently much more than that has now been shut down in Pattaya: ________________________________________________________________________ Banglamung/Pattaya enters highly controlled status, shutdowns of non essential business, bars, malls, etc By Adam Judd 30 December 2020 The Chonburi Governor released an emergency order this morning effective immediately for the Banglamung/Pattaya area to help control the Covid-19 coronavirus situation. (The order specifically says Banglamung/Pattaya, and not all of Chonburi. More information is coming in on this, the majority of recent cases have been linked to Banglamung. It is UNCLEAR if it will affect all of Chonburi, but is very clear that it affects all of Banglamung and Pattaya City.) This is due to an increasing cluster of infections stemming from an original cluster in Samut Sakhon at a seafood market that then spread through an illegal gambling establishment in Rayong, where some of the gamblers also went to Chonburi. The brief and important details are as follows: -Service venues closed, including bars, nightclubs, karaokes, massage parlors, etc –Restaurants take away only. No dine in service. -Malls, retail, etc closed except for supermarkets, drug stores, banks, mobile phone shops. All non essential closed, like clothes, etc. Supermarkets may sell only essential items (food). -All educational places closed, schools, learning centers, vocational schools, etc. -Leisure locations, like bowling, movie theaters, water parks, tourist attractions, etc. closed -24 hour convenience stores must be closed from 10:00 PM to 5:00 AM. There is NOT a total curfew. -Restaurants in hotels can stay open, however can only serve hotel guests. -Public swimming pools closed (As for condos, it will depend on if your condo juristic division considers the pool public.) -Amulet stores, religious artifact stores, temple stores closed -Pool, snooker, etc. closed -Gyms, fitness closed and similar establishments –Internet and game cafes closed -Close massage shop, spas, beauty clinics. (It did not specifically say hair salon/barber shop, waiting for more information on this) -Public parks, exercise areas, playgrounds and any place where people gather closed. -No parties or gatherings -Beaches were not specifically covered in the order. However, as the previous section on parks said any place where people may gather is closed it is likely they will be affected. The order is until further notice with no expiration date. There is not an alcohol sales ban. There is not a curfew or stay indoors order, although people are encouraged to stay at home. The mask mandate from the previous emergency decree is still in effect and one “could” be charged if found outside without a mask, The Pattaya News notes. Governor Phakarathorn Tienchai approved the order. He is also asking residents to stay put, although there is not a strict order/checkpoints, domestic travel restrictions. This is a developing story, we may add more to this document as information comes in. https://thepattayanews.com/2020/12/30/banglamung-pattaya-enters-highly-controlled-status-shutdowns-of-non-essential-business-bars-malls-etc/1 point

Cuba Travel Tips
SolaceSoul reacted to Riobard for a topic
I was just talking about Cuba with a friend that frequently visited in the past. He stays at a ‘casa particular’. That popular form of lodgings requires one week of quarantine, and locals residing in the same home must quarantine along with the foreigner(s) for the same week, even though the tourist gets a COVID test on arrival, even if the test is negative early in the week. The host must stock all supplies for the week for the whole group (see below regarding supplies). A hotel requires 24 hours initial quarantine, longer if your test result is delayed, but it seems to me that it is stipulated that you would keep basically entirely to yourself or your travel party, and utilize only the hotel services during your visit. This arrangement seems workable for a beach resort but would make a Havana vacation very unappealing. With all of these requirements, how would a visitor trying to score with locals manage to arrange indoor sexual interaction with a heterosexual ‘gay for pay’ escort? Nobody has recently travelled to Cuba. Cuba restricted entry in March. They allowed commercial travel entry to begin mid-November. That plan is now going in reverse and 6 countries are abruptly restricted because the cases of COVID in Cuba are increasing in number due to the attempt/experiment at renewal of tourism. Cuba’s bind, their predicament, is a crisis-level shortage of food and supplies that occurred due to the devastating impact of lost tourism and due to interrupted supply chains. However, it will not trade off health for the sake of economic recovery. It will need to rely on the global humanitarian branch of vaccine access. It will call on its citizens to endure the economic crisis and lock out the pandemic as much as possible. Brazilians (with an approved tourist card) may be added to the list of restricted countries due to the rates of coronavirus infection in Brazil. It makes sense. My country, Canada, a main source of Cuba’s tourism revenue, can expect the same.1 point -

Earlier Santo Domingo Curfew? Alternative Destinations?
Axiom2020 reacted to NomadicVibe for a topic
Apparently, curfew hours are 2 hours earlier during the week. Thanks to @SolaceSoulfor the heads up. (See below). Should I make it work or are there suitable alternative destinations? Having to be inside before 7pm for 9 days seems unbearable; and staying home isn’t an option for me. Please see my post and response below from a different board. I was considering ensuring I stay at a hotel with adequate amenities. Cine Lido appears to be a fail on weekends as opening at 6 pm leaves very little time to explore the place. Can anyone provide any tips to maximize experience with curfews in DR for individuals staying at least a week? —————————————————————- Response from @SolaceSoul This would be better suited for the LATAM board. I rarely, if ever, view this particular forum. Someone directed me to this post. So I’ll answer your question. The curfew is now 7pm everyday. It was changed sometime in December. The U.S. State Department should give you updates on any curfew changes if you sign up for their SMART Traveler Program, if you’re a US Citizen or resident. All business, including stores, bars and restaurants are shut down for customers at 7, and they stop serving at 6. You can be transitioning to your hike or hotel until 9 pm without getting arrested (yes, they are serious). So you needs to plan accordingly. Uber Eats stil delivers for some restaurants until a little after 9. Uber stops picking up customers after 9 pm. There are some authorized drivers who have passes on their windshields and are allowed to pick passengers up to take them home, to hotels or to airports. If you’re staying at a hotel, they should be able to help you with this. if you want a dare to come over or leave after 9 pm, you’re going to need a hookup with one of those drivers, if the guy doesn’t have one already. Or else it’ll have to be an overnight until 6 am, when curfew lifts. I can’t help you with the adult theatre Cine Lido. Not my cup of tea, and I don’t even think they’re open anyway. But if they are, like everything else, they would have to be shut by 7pm or risk going to Dominican jail.1 point -
The Reopening of Brazil to Foreigners: some observations

I mean I kinda see what they are attempting to do, but that looks awful. Not just from they failure to prevent spread, but just being boxed in behind metal barricades. That being said I miss people and can't wait to pry myself through crowds to get an over priced weak drink from disinterested shirtless bartender!1 point -
I'm not so sure the answer would be reliable. A go-go bar(s) would draw a lot of business away from the beer bars, so I believe it would be more of an incentive for beer bar owners to want to keep things status quo. Of course, the flip side to that coin would be go-go bars in Jomtien Complex would bring more business to the complex itself, potentially providing more business for the beer bars. In any case, if someone does ask, I wouldn't recommend asking just one bar owner. I'd ask several and see what kind of answers you get. If they all are giving the same answer, then I'd believe that more than the answer from just one of the bar owners. If anyone does start asking, let us know what they tell you.1 point

my December trip to Rio and SP
Latbear4blk reacted to travguy for a topic
Sunday afternoon was a bit busy at Sexy Rose during a drizzly light rainy day. Three of the guys I saw later showed up at 117, likely as working boys, one was at 117 before I left around 2000 hrs, 2 more were walking up the street in that direction as I left for Metro Gloria. I stayed at 117 from around 1800-2000 hrs. Moderately busy. Several GPs caught my eye. Regarding MiamiEthan: another punter or 2 at a table where they were buying drinks for the boys has this covid masked GP come to his table in the outdoor smoking lounge. Might have bought him a water. I see this same toned surfer body guy in the porn room 20 minutes later and say hello. Still has his mask on (no-one else of the GPs is wearing one). We agree on a programma. He has me get the room key, the GPs usually do that. He has me top him for 30 minutes or more, wore me out (not all of us are like Jedi Master Tom Cal). He barely sucked and did not kiss. He was a bit of a loose bottom. Spoke only PT. Oh well. My bill when I left was about 140 for entry and the cabine so I assume we did double time there..... There were a few other guys of interest, but I was worn out and left before the show. Please note that some GPs entered and some left all through the time I was there. Some punters did not seem to buy time with the GPs despite lots of time with them talking and buying a Red Bull etc. So these things were not typical from what I saw in the past. As for the price, you can negotiate, the GP can say no. Please, always be nice to the GP, even if not interested when they say hello to you. It is not a great life and most do try to please and seek return customers or overnights. Please be aware, I speak limited PT, and it is not unusual for the boy not to do as planned. I also review the program and the price multiple times. I expected my GP to do more than just bend over. Funny how that never happens at Sexy Rose where the sex is free - no cost - and completely consensual. If you want, say hello to the other punters. They will provide some guidance. My guess is that basic sex with GP as top or if you suck them is about RS100. You can cum. They will not. If want to be sucked, most will put a condom on you first. I f you want more, you pay more. All negotiable. For the big muscle guy porn star types, it might cost much more and they might not deliver what you expected. You pay the GP cash back in the locker area after your program. You pay the sauna its fees separately. Make sure you have enough cash from the ATMs etc to allow a few programs, some drinks, some cabine costs, some entry costs. R$1000 on you is not unreasonable, plus it allows some money for dinner or drinks after or if you find a GP for an overnight. Others might wish to comment about cash on you. You find the GP first, then get a room. On free cabine nights there might be a queue with 15+ minute wait times pre COVID. Hope this assists newbies. Tonight, Monday, my European friend wants to try Meio Mundo in Centro. 202 was terrible last Monday. 117 is closed today (I think).1 point -

How close is a vaccine ?

From Channel News Asia Thai hospital ordered to stop advertising sale of COVID-19 vaccine BANGKOK: A private Thai hospital was ordered on Sunday (Dec 27) to stop advertising COVID-19 vaccinations for sale in advance on the grounds that no vaccine is yet approved in Thailand. Vibhavadi Hospital told Reuters its online offer for 1,000 initial reservations for the two-dose Moderna vaccine had been the result of a misunderstanding. With reservations priced at 4,000 baht, the total cost of getting vaccinated would have been 10,000 baht (US$330). As the first governments begin vaccine rollouts around the world, questions have been raised over how the limited supplies are prioritised and whether people will be able to pay to jump the queue. The Ministry of Health said in a statement that no COVID-19 vaccine had been approved for use in Thailand yet and that advertising one violated hospital regulations. "The removal of the advertisement was ordered," it said. In August, Moderna said it was pricing its vaccine at US$32 to US$37 per dose for smaller deals. Thailand is a major hub for medical tourism, drawing patients from Asia, the Middle East and beyond. Source: Reuters/zl1 point -
Omg. Well let me finish my current trip first and then I’ll post updates lol. Currently I am in Rio and I must say that the saunas are more or less better than earlier in the pandemic. it’s been raining this past week but today it’s glorious. Dear Members, Recently, in our porn forum, I have had over 40 DMCA requests to remove images. These were sent to both me and the host. I am complying with these requests. It is also quite problematic as images cannot be on the site that copyrighted. We remove any we see that are copyrighted but it is a massive undertaking. Regretfully, we are removing the entire porn photo section from the site. I know that some of you love this area and visit daily to see the massive amount of sexy guys. However, I am not willing to be sued based on these images. As the site is also slow at times, the site will be merging with another site called gayguides.com. This will allow a broader base of membership with guys who have similar interests. Most of the gay guides members are experienced travelers to Asia. Most of the ones for boytoy are more experienced in South America and Europe. A couple of years back, the gaythailand site merged into gayguides and soon other sites will be merged to create a more active forum. Since the beginning of this site, originally maleescortreview.com and then boytoy.com, members have been loyal and provided great discussions of escorts and places to travel to find great guys. I hope that this continues. There is nothing anyone needs to do on gayguides right now. In several days, the merge will happen and your login for boytoy will work on the other site. Currently, we are removing all names from members who have never posted on boytoy (over 30,000) and people who have not logged in for several years. This will help us when we merge the two forums into one. Part of these are already removed but the process removed about 200 per hour. The boytoy domain name will point to gayguides.com for several months to ensure all members that are active know where the site is. Transitions are always hard and tough and no one likes change. For me, this was a hard decision, but one that will be easier for me to manage and maintain. Thank you for being a member and I hope to see you on the new site when the transition is complete.
