Although having no personal experience to offer (now stuck in Farangland), I thought it could interest some to know more about this place. This is information I gathered from some webboard and twitter reviews (though you never know whether these reviews are genuine or "suggested" by the shop owner !) Name : Big Hands Massage Location : 1390 soi Chan Muang 10 - Din Daeng District - Bangkok (behind Train Night Market Ratchada) How to get there : MRT subway to Thailand Cultural Center - exit 4 - walk along RS Tower, cross the canal and then go northward through the market ; soi Chan Muang 10 is the first soi you will cross after going out of the market (no sign, better to have a look at Google Maps before as finding one's bearings could be challenging especially at night when the market is in full swing) Opening hours : 11.00 > 24.00 Updates and information : they have Facebook, Twitter and Line accounts (search "Big Hands Massage") - twitter and line accounts updated almost daily ; many pictures but thai language only Prices : oil 1,5 hours 550 THB (september 2020) - minimum tip 500 for soft and 800 for hard which is rather low Reviews summary : the shop opened in September 2020 and is kept very tidy - most rooms don't have in-room shower - 12/15 quite good-looking boys on duty - some boys in the buff from the beginning - most put emphasis on post-massage activities ("soft" or "hard", depending on boy) All in all seems to be an interesting place worth the trouble finding one's way to check it out.5 points

I would love it if there were go-go bars in Jomtien complex. It already has much going for it - it's walking distance from the bus station (the cheap bus from Suvarnabhumi), plenty of good food around, walking distance to Dongtan gay beach, a few massage places, and it's just kinda nice around there.. having go-go bars there would be the icing on the cake! I feel more comfortable in go-go bars anyway as opposed to host bars (and I'm sure there would be some who would be the opposite). Anyway, just dreaming!2 points

For years I've heard about those girly go-go bars. And for years, try as I might, I've never been able to spot them. Maybe I'm just blind or something, but do those bars actually exist or is it nothing more than gossip simply believed to be fact? Does anyone know the names of any go-go bars around the Jomtien Complex vicinity or just where they are? Has anyone been to them? Better still, does anyone have a photo of them? After all these years of hearing about them, I think it's high time to verify. Boy69 wrote, "I understood that Jomtien area is classified as residential one so gogo bars are not allowed." That's another one that I don't know whether it's true or not. If it is a residential area, other than the Jomtien Complex condotel, where are the residences? All I see is bars, restaurants, and a few massages. That doesn't sound very residential to me, especially since virtually everything in the area is commercial. I would find it difficult to believe, without seeing documented verification, that the existence of the condotel is the reason no go-go bars are allowed. In other words, for quite a long time we have all been told these stories and accepted them as true, but I have yet to see verification of any of them. If go-go bars really are prohibited in Jomtien Complex, I'd like to know the real reason why and who made that decision, under what authority. And if prohibition of go-go bars in Jomtien Complex is genuine, I wonder if it has ever been challenged in court.2 points

LOL Well, the next one is on a bus as I write this to spend some time with me in Bangkok. I met him last week in Pattaya. So, I didn't stay heartbroken for too long. Actually, as Jupiter Boy was here, the boy called and they both chatted. Jupiter Boy told him he better take good care of me as I am a good man. At least that is what I think he said as they were speaking Thai. It could have been, this man is a fool, take him for every thing you can get. In either case, I'm in for a fun weekend.2 points

It is nice to be one of the only foreigners to be using the massage places. They love to get a LINE and a booking from me and their guys are cute. Wong Kar-Wai's Happy Together
nynakedtop reacted to Pete1111 for a topic
A buddy of mine is a Wong Kar-Wai fan, and sent me a link to a curated retrospective series, highlighting the career and select works of the Hong Kong filmmaker. Last night I watched Happy Together, one of the series. This film belongs on the 50 greatest gay film list in that other thread. It released around 10 years before and remains just as timeless as Brokeback Mountain . I actually saw this in a theater years ago but wasn't in the mood for the despair of the film and maybe not clever enough that day to realize the beauty of it. I expect the performance of Tony Leung will always stay with me. The direction and cinematography was stunning.1 point -

my December trip to Rio and SP

Update Sunday 27 Dec: Drizzly Thurs 24 Dec. Despite what someone said Sexy Rose closed at 1700 hrs, had some fun, but quiet afternoon. Saunas were closed as best as I could tell. Had 1 GP via Scruff or Grindr. He did not look as good as photos and cost was a bit high (in the pouring rain) and a trip to Gloria, at 200 R$, but sex was great, so no complaints. Fri 25 Dec Xmas. Very quiet day and pouring rain. Pointe 202 was open, not busy, and had 2 guys of interest to me. I think the cabines were free. The one we used was dripping form the ceiling the whole time. The guy was not tall and very muscular with a beard. Forgot his non typical name. Sex was very good. The other GP, twinkish Glenn found a sugar daddy ?couple. The show went off on time at 2100 hrs (am I in the correct universe, a gay drag and stripper show going off on time) but I left at 2130 hrs. Maybe 4 customers and 6-8 GPs at that time. Sat 26 Dec was an unexpectedly nice day. Did the beach, but only briefly so as not to burn. Even with clouds, my European friend got very red earlier in the week. I had a base coat tan and limited myself to just 30+ minutes in the morning sun as the weather was supposed to get a bit drizzly rainy in the pm (did not happen). Due to other reasons, the rest of the day was fun but mis-timed. I left Sexy Rose very happy again, but due to being eaten alive by mosquitoes while eating and thinking I got a very large rash, which kept getting larger, from the leg bites I went back to the hotel. Basically ended my Saturday. The meds worked great. Unfortunately, the meds also put me to sleep and my cha cha nap lasted until 1am. So I missed out on what must have been a super excellent Sat night due to all of the rain in the days before. LOL. Sunday 27 Dec is drizzly again this am. Also checked on the exchange rates. RS has weakened a bit over the past week. In the end, both bank accounts reimbursed for at least 2 of my airport ATM withdrawal fees so far. The exchange rates used had me loosing less than 1% of the Xe.com rates posted for the 15 minute interval. The rates for each bank were very slightly different, but quite reasonable. Do not know about the more recent ATM uses yet. Advice: bring several cards in case they get eaten by the ATMs and if cards do not work at a certain location, try another location / bank and the cards may very well function normally. Try not to get get mixed up between checking, savings, and universal accounts as this can be another reason for your ATM card not to work. Always call or web in your travel details so your bank does not freeze your ATM card abroad. NEVER accept the ATM machine or merchant conversion rate !!! Guaranteed bad rip off and there should be laws against this. Now to refill my Brasil SIM card.1 point -
How close is a vaccine ?

I'm not following that closely but do they know how vaccine works? Isn't it possible that vaccinated person will not get sick but still may spread the virus ?. In such a case they may want until they vaccinate Thai population first Honest question, apologies for being stupid but medical stuff is not an area of my interest as I always believed that it's very unhealthy to get sick.1 point -

Yes that's what I meant for tourists Boyz Town is perfectly located in the center of everything ,for expacts it's not so attractive because of the high prices, noisenense and because it's not gay oriented anymore. I understood that Jomtien area is classified as residential one so gogo bars are not allowed , the very few girlie bars are probably owned by high ranking officers so no one dare to close them.1 point

I think it depends on where you are and what you're looking for. For me, the Boystown-Sunee Plaza area is not central at all. As an expat living on "The Dark Side" I drive to get there. Finding a place to park anywhere near Boystown is next to impossible these days, even with the Covid crisis going on. Unless a parking space is available in the parking lot at Sunee Plaza, finding a place to park is also next to impossible. There have been times I finally found a parking place so far from them that I had to take a motorbike taxi from where I parked to the bars. No thanks, especially during rainy season. Meanwhile, for me I have never had a problem finding a place to park when going to Jomtien Complex. For me, Jomtien Complex is the central location. Also, I lost interest in the go-go bars a long time ago. Sunee Plaza's Winner Bar charges reasonable prices, but the Boystown bars? Forget it. I won't pay those prices to see boys who are of no interest to me in the first place. The prices at every bar in Jomtien Complex are fair and reasonable. I've never felt overcharged or ripped off in Jomtien Complex. I can't say the same for Boystown. As firecat69 says, it would nice if there were go-go bars in Jomtien Complex. Over the years I've heard two stories about why no go-go bars are there. One story is there is some sort of city ordinance against it - although I've never heard a credible explanation as to why and have never seen any documentation that shows such an ordinance actually exists. The other story is the Jomtien Complex bar owners have an agreement about not having go-go bars there because that would generate unfair competition and draw too much business away from all the beer bars. That story is second and third hand. I've never heard it from any of the bar owners. I have no idea which story is true or even if either one of them is the real story. All I know for sure is, for whatever reason, there are no go-go bars in Jomtien Complex and none are expected. But for all I know, maybe there is nothing at all to prevent go-go bars in Jomtien Complex and the only reason there aren't any is simply because nobody ever opened one. So, those of you who cherish the go-go bars, let's hope the remaining Pattaya go-go bars will survive. If they don't, the end of the era of Pattaya gay go-go bars may already be imminent.1 point

Omg. Well let me finish my current trip first and then I’ll post updates lol. Currently I am in Rio and I must say that the saunas are more or less better than earlier in the pandemic. it’s been raining this past week but today it’s glorious. I must say when Rio redeems itself, the results are amazing. Both at the beach and at the saunas. I’ll post a new thread about my Christmas and new year adventures, as well as wrap up this thread (so much to write!), but for now, here’s an Ipanema teeming with gays this sunny Saturday:1 point

I always use either Citadines or Ascott, I know these places are apartment types but I just like the bigger space plus I also work when I travel so bigger desk is a necessity. Never had a problem bringing someone inside. BTW to those who are planning to go the places now charges just around 1.5-2k Baht a night in Agoda these days, but of course you still have to spend time and money in a 14 days ASQ hotels.1 point -

This is very bad news. With only a few expats as bar customers, to tell the truth I'm surprised some of these bars were able to last as long as they did. And this latest round of Covid outbreak is not going to help anything. I hope once unencumbered tourism opens up again, and it's anybody's guess when that might be or even if that might be, there will still be at least a few go-go bars left. At least the hook-up apps work and are filled with willing young gents. Once this is over, that very well may be the way to find boys. There is always the hope that the go-go bars will eventually reopen or some of the bars manage to get sold and new owners will reopen them. Hopefully, if gay farang holiday makers do start returning, there will be a gay paradise resurrection. If that does happen, who knows - maybe the gay scene will eventually be better than it ever was. I think many of us remember the days when the most difficult decisions of the evening were where to eat, which bars to visit, and which boy to "off". Now, not very much to have to decide. I hope for a gay scene comeback - and quickly. I just hope Boystown won't eventually turn into Girlie Bars Town.1 point

Thailand reports record breaking 500 new covid 19 vases

From The Thaiger ===================================================== From Thai Examiner PM criticises employers for using cheap, illegal migrant labour as officials remain on high alert Thai officials are still holding out hope that a nationwide lockdown can be avoided as the Prime Minister has signalled his displeasure at the kingdom’s employers who put the country at risk because of greed. It comes as the government has introduced a colour-coded system to help the public to understand the extent of the threat in highlighted provinces where vigilance is required. One of these, notably, is Bangkok. Prime Minister Prayut Chan ocha has excoriated employers who brought illegal migrant workers into Thailand to exploit them for cheap labour. General Prayut revealed that the government is looking at upgrading the system for the registration of migrant labour after the outbreak in Samut Sakhon, last weekend, has exposed the underbelly of Thai industries which are dependent on cheap foreign labour. The PM made it clear that he does not blame the migrant workers who, he pointed out on Thursday, must be provided for and treated in this current emergency. He blamed the employers and said that those responsible should be ashamed of themselves.1 point -
Thailand reports record breaking 500 new covid 19 vases
splinter1949 reacted to reader for a topic
From Thai Enquirer Migrant workers are not just a dispensable economic cog but living, breathing humans Opinion By Juwee Vorawandthanachai In both private and public spheres, the blame has often been placed on the migrant workers trying to survive, without the considering the system that ignores the humanity of these vulnerable communities. According to the United Nations International Organization of Migration (IOM), there are approximately 4-5 million migrant workers in Thailand. These workers mostly take up lower-income jobs in various industries like fisheries, construction, and domestic work and are integral to the Thai economy as they keep these industries afloat. In turn, their remittances back home substantially contribute to their family’s income. Although Thailand relies on the labor of these migrant workers to keep our country running, it constantly ignores their existence while also denying them rights to labor protection, safety, and health. Subsequently, Thailand’s COVID response did not to take into account the migrant workers at all. As the government eased up border restrictions, it mandated a 14-day quarantine for all foreigners and required that they pay for the quarantine out of pocket. While requiring a quarantine is crucial to deter the community spread of COVID, by requiring that foreigners pay for their own quarantine accommodations, the government indirectly prioritized wealthier foreigners over the migrant workers. This basically left the migrant workers who were in their home countries without a source of income for themselves and their families. As a result, the migrant workers were compelled, out of desperation, to take drastic measures of risking their lives to cross the border and forego the quarantine that they could not afford. After reaching Thailand, the accommodations that the employers provided for these workers are often in small, cramped rooms. As a result, these migrant workers were forced into closed quarters with each other, without the opportunity to quarantine or socially distance from each other. Due to the low wages that their employers provide, the workers did not have the luxury of looking for other accommodations. This forced the workers to put themselves on the line to keep our industries running. While Thailand’s universal healthcare scheme is hailed as one of our reasons for success in testing and tracing COVID, this scheme does not include foreigners, including migrant workers. With lower-income jobs, these migrant workers could not afford to get tested for COVID. This, combined with the close quarters, allowed for the rapid spread of this disease. Even though the Thai government has now temporarily made COVID testing free and required for migrant workers, it is also further restricting this community’s human rights by locking them in confined spaces and ‘letting the disease run its course.’ It seems as though Thailand views the migrant workers’ labor as essential but deems their lives as dispensable. As the pandemic plays out, the government needs to work to protect the health and wellbeing of every single person living in Thailand, regardless of their wealth or citizenship. So, for now, let’s stop blaming the honest, hardworking people trying to survive in a system that works against them, and instead, let’s hold the people who created this unjust, oppressive system accountable.1 point -

I recognise that the bars in Boyztown had been hurting for many years....at least ten, I'd guess and that the sort of gay tourists (like me) that built the gay scene of the 80s and 90s are long gone. However, I continue to feel a deep resentment at what happened between (roughly) 2015 an 2019. Boyztown may have been struggling but it was still alive. The few go go bars had loyal customer bases, as did the Ambiance Hotel, its terrace that those of three bars in the Panorama corner. Then a decision was made to chase the female clientele in BBB followed by the coup de grace, the purchase of LCF. Forgive the personal bitterness in what follows. After twenty years of patronising Ambiance three or four times I year, I spent my last night there two years unable to sleep at gone 0300 due to unbearably loud music from LCR accompanied by the screaming of women. I looked out over the balcony. There were but a few customers but each of them was apparently endowed with astonishingly loud voices and an infinite capacity for banshee-like screaming. With a plane to catch, tired and low, I sat down with P (who'd never had the sentimental attraction to Boyztown that I had) and we decided on the spot that it was the end of Boyztown for us. And we became regulars at the Jomtien Complex. I know for certain that I'm not the only person driven out by the transformation of a gay soi into a very different one. And I'd add that that the change that affected me and others was that it was no longer suitable for those of my generation, nor even of my boyfriend who is nearly forty. The new visitors to the soi were often Chinese and female but it was their youth and the behaviours that accompany youth that eventually lost Ambiance (and Panorama) my custom. I've just re-read the above. And yes; I am getting old.1 point

I went there last night (26 December). Should have been the height of the high season in normal times. I was the only customer and the “show” consisted of one bored boy at a time on the stage. I drank up and left.0 points

From Bangkok Post Nopparat Boonrat shows his silver medal at the FISU World University Cheerleading Championship in Poland in 2018. (Photo supplied) BURI RAM: Police summonsed three young men aged 20-23 for allegedly assaulting a native of this northeastern province, a man renowned as a dancer and who received an award at an international cheerleading championship. Police planned to charge the three -- whose names were withheld -- with severely injuring Nopparat Boonrat, 23, at a restaurant in Lahan Sai district last Wednesday night. Police at Ban Kruad station said that two of the three suspects had just been released from jail after committing drug offences. The victim is a student at the University of the Thai Chamber of Commerce and was the first runner-up in the Hip Hop Doubles competition at FISU World University Cheerleading Championship in Poland in 2018. He has previously performed dance routines for many famous singers. A group of about five men reportedly attacked the man as he was eating at the restaurant with his elder brother. He was kicked, punched and repeatedly hit in the head with bottles and a chair. His skull was cracked. The victim was admitted to Buriram Hospital, where he was awaiting brain scans. He was able to speak and eat but was suffering from a headache. On Saturday, his mother Kanchana Puwonpa, 40, said in tears that Mr Nopparat returned from Bangkok to visit his family and she did not know why he was assaulted by strangers. She said she was worried that her son may not be able to dance again.0 points

When I left Bangkok last February, all the venues in Patpong and Silom were experiencing noticeable declines in attendance. People were reacting in the same way they are now out of a healthy dose of fear. When the government gets a handle of the current outbreak, this will reverse itself among the locals but it will do nothing to attract international tourists. Today's Thaiger carried an article about a new website launched by the TAT to simplify the booking of ASQ hotels in the hope that it would encourage more arrivals. One look, however, at the booking process tells the tale of why the people needed to save the hospitality sector are not following through.0 points
