As has been stated many times before, the boy bar scene has been in decline for many years . Well before covid , I was often the only customer at most of the boy gogo bars. Only exception was Boyzboyzboyz which was packed with Asian Women and men and nary an older gay farang. Toy Boys was also mostly Asians, women and men but gay older farangs were plentiful but then the numbers boys drastically declined. My guess was that salaries were reduced or cut off and only freelancers showed up. If the tourists return, then it’s possible the boy bar scene will revive with the major factor being Chinese Women and men. As gaybutton mentioned the apps are busy with many boys and Jomtien Complex is the place to go now..3 points -
OK. It was Christmas Day. Perhaps, that means everyone wanted to stay home with family and friends. However, I wanted to see what was going on in the gay bars and clubs. I ventured out for the night. I had some drinks at Hot Male bar and then looked inside the gogo bar with zero boys on stage. I went to Fresh Boys and no customers at all and less than 10 on stage. I went to Screwboys and it was abysmal. I then went to Dream Boys and they were packed with sexy guys. Well, at least some guys and I'd say about 15 guys. I went to Moonlight and got there before the show. I was the only customer. The boys on stage were 12. They were all cute and muscular. But, watching the 12 of them up and down for 30 more minutes was not worth it for me. I called it a night and headed home. I do hope this was an anomaly. I left the area early, around 10:15, so perhaps it picked up a lot after that. But, sitting in the area and not seeing much traffic, makes me wonder if things were just going to stay quiet last night. As a side note, I had to go to the doctor twice this week during rush hours in Bangkok and NO traffic and easy to get everywhere. The driver said people were staying home afraid of Covid as we have had outbreaks in the area. I hope this is the case.2 points

Although having no personal experience to offer (now stuck in Farangland), I thought it could interest some to know more about this place. This is information I gathered from some webboard and twitter reviews (though you never know whether these reviews are genuine or "suggested" by the shop owner !) Name : Big Hands Massage Location : 1390 soi Chan Muang 10 - Din Daeng District - Bangkok (behind Train Night Market Ratchada) How to get there : MRT subway to Thailand Cultural Center - exit 4 - walk along RS Tower, cross the canal and then go northward through the market ; soi Chan Muang 10 is the first soi you will cross after going out of the market (no sign, better to have a look at Google Maps before as finding one's bearings could be challenging especially at night when the market is in full swing) Opening hours : 11.00 > 24.00 Updates and information : they have Facebook, Twitter and Line accounts (search "Big Hands Massage") - twitter and line accounts updated almost daily ; many pictures but thai language only Prices : oil 1,5 hours 550 THB (september 2020) - minimum tip 500 for soft and 800 for hard which is rather low Reviews summary : the shop opened in September 2020 and is kept very tidy - most rooms don't have in-room shower - 12/15 quite good-looking boys on duty - some boys in the buff from the beginning - most put emphasis on post-massage activities ("soft" or "hard", depending on boy) All in all seems to be an interesting place worth the trouble finding one's way to check it out.2 points

Omg. Well let me finish my current trip first and then I’ll post updates lol. Currently I am in Rio and I must say that the saunas are more or less better than earlier in the pandemic. it’s been raining this past week but today it’s glorious. I must say when Rio redeems itself, the results are amazing. Both at the beach and at the saunas. I’ll post a new thread about my Christmas and new year adventures, as well as wrap up this thread (so much to write!), but for now, here’s an Ipanema teeming with gays this sunny Saturday:2 points

It really is hilarious when someone who has never posted wants us to believe him over a member who has lived in Pattaya for 20 years. Nobody here knows you and certainly nobody knows your trusted and reliable source. For now I will think Willie may be right. You don't remove furniture unless you are finished!2 points

Cupidol and Toy Boys have been my bars of choice in recent holidays and I have had so much fun in both (and with boys from both). A large part of my mounting impatience and eagerness to get back to Pattaya focuses around returning to both bars. Hang-on in there!2 points

I can confirm Cupidol Bar is open every day until the 3rd January and then revert back to 3 days a week, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. JOHN2 points

In Pattaya, the only gay venue area doing relatively well is Jomtien Complex. No go-go bars, but most of the beer bars are open and plenty of boys. Not that many customers, but it does seem to be enough, so far, to sustain those bars. In my opinion, the beginning of the end for Sunee Plaza was the day Michael and Thomas left Corner bar. It has been a steady downhill ride ever since. For Boystown, I believe the beginning of the end was when Jim Lumsden left. I understand now even his Baan Souy resort is up for sale. If it sells, I have no idea what Jim's plans are after that. Apparently between Bangkok and Pattaya, now Jomtien Complex is the last relatively thriving and surviving gay venue area. If Jomtien Complex fails too, as Jimmy Durante once said, "Then we're all in the ter-let." My hopes are pinned on an eventual comeback.2 points

Sad news indeed. I was there a week ago and it was dead quiet but it was the night with no alcohol. However, I was in Bangkok's gay area last night and it looked about like Pattaya's Boystown. It was like a ghost town. I think the new Covid scare has scared off what few customers were willing to venture out. I sat in Moonlight as the only customer for an hour, same for 2 other bars. I was hoping that the bars in Boystown would be able to hold on.2 points

This is sad, though not unexpected news. As previous posters have noted, Boyztown has been in decline for years, if not decades. I think it was nine years ago that I made an unscheduled trip to Pattaya. I dragged my suitcase through Boyztown because I wanted to stay in a gay hotel. I just like staying at places that cater to a gay clientele. It was the weekend after New Year's. I first checked the hotel across from Ambience, Le Cafe Royale. They had plenty of rooms but in each the bed was sagging in the middle and the room itself smelled of mildew. No thank you. I walked across the street to the Ambience, which used to never have vacancies around New Year's, so I figured I'd be pushing my luck. But they also had plenty of rooms. And all of them also smelled strongly of mildew. Worse, the rooms were quite small and dark. Then I was showed one of the "penthouses" on the top floor. No mildew. A firm bed. A big, comfortable, wide-open space. So I stayed there, and although I was very happy with my room, when I went out that night the decline of Boyztrown was in full view. The "boys" themselves had gotten much older. I went in for a drink to every go-go bar I could find, and there was no one on stage who caught my eye. This was a Saturday night. The Saturday after New' Year's Eve. The bars with open walls that face the street were eerily quiet. The tables outside the Ambiance and Le Cafe Royale were mostly empty. These places used to be filled. But now there was no more party atmosphere; the exhilaration of being in Pattaya was gone. I ended up having a really great time that night -- after convincing myself, "Well, maybe things are better in Sunee Plaza." I don't know if they were, but as soon as I got off my motorbike, I was greeted by the cutest guy I had ever seen, and we ended up drinking the night away. He called me a "hotel queen" for choosing to stay in the Ambience penthouse instead of one of the mildewy rooms below. But this is all history. If the bars and hotels that have been hanging on for so long are finally pulling the plug, maybe that entire block that Boyztown inhabits can be remade into a truly great gay resort. Some better hotels would be nice. Maybe a couple nightclubs -- real Soi 2-style night clubs -- could supplement the go-go bars. So many gay travelers to Thailand these days are young Chinese, many of whom seem less interested in meeting go-go dancers and more interested in meeting one another. A nightclub or two might serve that desire. So might a large Boyztown swimming pool and deck Pool party, anyone?1 point -
I liked "Still together" better , not because of plot, quite shallow but because I like both actors, their chemistry and their play I agree "Love by chance 2" is least attractive of those three although still worth watching to fill the time. Ae was constantly sad and depressed , shade of himself from original series and character played by Yacht was also poor shade of him from original. As for Oxygen I was missing smiles from both Gui and Solo although I understand this is because their characters in the play. Last episode in both 'Oxygen " and Love by chance 2 ' were disappointing , one in "Oxygen" actually made little sense , it was haste like they wanted to finish before volcano erupted or something. Yes, Kao is the highlight the series , both actor himself and his character . You are right. I think whole episode with locking him and sudden salvation by Kao did not make sense but perhaps main audience- Thai teenager girls will think otherwise.1 point

While I understand the anger and annoyance of the previous posters, the fact remains that Taiwan and Thailand have done an amazing job of controlling the spread of Covid. We’d all like 100% but human nature prevents perfection. I have felt far safer living in Thailand than I would in any first-world Western nation, far far safer..1 point -

LOL Well, the next one is on a bus as I write this to spend some time with me in Bangkok. I met him last week in Pattaya. So, I didn't stay heartbroken for too long. Actually, as Jupiter Boy was here, the boy called and they both chatted. Jupiter Boy told him he better take good care of me as I am a good man. At least that is what I think he said as they were speaking Thai. It could have been, this man is a fool, take him for every thing you can get. In either case, I'm in for a fun weekend.1 point

Cutey & Beauty

Cutey and Beauty now known as C&B Gentleman's Barber is on Patpong 2, upstairs above Screw Boys and next to Hotmale (I think). The stylist is the lovely Burmese Nicky who can't speak a word of English but who cares? He uses Yee (?) the Burmese assistant from UP2 for translations. A cut is 400 Baht but I'm not sure if that includes a shampoo or not. They are closed on Sundays and on other days close at six. I had my last 3 cuts there and am more than happy. I send a message for an appointment to make sure that Nicky is on duty.1 point -

The B Word: Fortaleza Edition – No Place Like Home After a week or so with BF#1, and some time alone, as well as getting some work done in the process, it was time to see Paulo again. He was adamant in showing me one of his adopted cities – Fortaleza, and to show me why he loves this city so much. I have been to Fortaleza once before, partially chronicled here. I was not able to visit any saunas that time, but still had fun with some Garoto Com Locals. And this trip was to be different – I was going to stay at Paulo’s apartment this time, so no hanky panky with others, just me, him, and the city. So since this is me we are talking about, I had to find a way to sample Fortaleza boys before meeting up with Paulo. Saunas are off-limits because I was going with Paulo to the saunas and boys will talk if I go there without Paulo. So Garoto Com Local was again a saving grace in this regard. Which meant getting a hotel first before meeting up with Paulo. From Sao Paulo, I took an early morning flight to Fortaleza, arriving at noon. Upon checking in to the Hotel Gran Marquise, a reported 5 star hotel in Fortaleza ($60 a night, cost still at pandemic level when I stayed), I was ready to receive the boys before meeting with Paulo later at 7 PM. I met up to 2 boys from the website. One was a firecracker of a versatile guy, who was moreno, super cute, and with a giant ass. Fulfilled my thirst for a more bottom guy. The second guy was your typical bombado with large muscles, big dick and giant ass. He was a pardo, and while his ad had pretty good pics, he was even more of a knockout in person. Surprised me too. I was ready for a more “worship-type” programa with the bombado, but he was game for way more. Super passionate and versatile as well. The programas were 150 and 200, respectively, which is at sauna level pricing in SP or RJ. The boy prices are definitely lower once you leave the southeast. Some comments about the Hotel Gran Marquise: not quite 5 star in my book, as the room I got was fairly average, but the services were as top-notch as you can expect in Brazil. Between programas I was able to take advantage of the gym and pool. And obviously one can receive visitors, at least during the day, as no one checked on the two guests I brought on the way to my room. I wouldn’t know if it was like that at night. As everyone knows, Fortaleza can be dangerous, so I am certain that they are more diligent at night, at least checking ID of your guests. And to close, I had a nice coffee and Bailey’s combo for an afternoon snack, as I relished being in a 5 star hotel in Brazil, especially since I will be shifting gears to stay with the BF in his apartment: And shift gears I did. Once I got the whoriness out of my system (at least for a week), I was ready to meet Paulo. I Ubered it to his apartment, which was more inland and away from the beaches. It was in Centro, in a two story decrepit looking building on a busy street. Upon arriving at his street, Paulo was waiting for me on the curb. He looked happy to see me as I emerged from my Uber. He has a one bedroom apartment. Fairly spartan. Not a lot of furniture. Not the 5 star hotel I was just in for sure. But it was his home, and I was welcome, and that made the quality of the surroundings irrelevant. Since I was in familiar surroundings for Paulo, he laid some ground rules about this trip. Since a lot of people knew him in the city, especially in this part of town, he said to tamp down on the PDA while in public. This rule would be broken numerous times, and it was all him, not me, breaking the rules. During the trip, instead of getting Ubers to get around town, I rode in the back of his motorcycle, and he drove like a maniac. He was an adrenaline junkie, I was not. But I adjusted, because I was living Paulo’s life now. Another ground rule: to stay at his side at all times. Fortaleza remains a dangerous place, and he has stories about him fending robbers and their ilk while living here. I would break this rule once: when we were in Praia Iracema and we got into a silly fight, and I abruptly left our perch in the beach. Astrologically, we were both fire signs, so the fire was in full display in Fortaleza. He had to hunt me down the praca near the beach, and was looking for me everywhere. I sat down near a group of police at the end of the praca. He was relieved to find me, unscathed. He was genuinely concerned. He said I could have been kidnapped or robbed in the praca. I swore to him to never do that again. I would do it again. Apart from intermittent nastiness between us, my Fortaleza visit was actually pretty nice. Paulo showed me his city: warts and all. We got new tattoos from one of his friends. We ate at his favorite places, and drank in the street pubs that he usually haunts. Met some of his friends. Probably the highlight of my trip with him was seeing the crowds in Praia Iracema, and the surrounding parks. It was like seeing a world pre-COVID, as almost no one was wearing masks, and the crowd density was something I haven’t seen for a while now. You must be wondering what the sauna scene here is. From what I know, there are three GP saunas in the city worth noting, and two more that are horrible. At this point of the trip, the other two saunas, Dragon and California were still closed (they have now reopened at the time of this writing), and only one was open. Mykonos Thermas Club. From what I understand, this was a new sauna, opened earlier this year before the pandemic. Perhaps to recoup some of the owner’s investment, the sauna reopened as soon as the city said it was OK to do so. Paulo said that he liked the other two than this sauna, but since this was the only one open, he had no choice but to work here. The place was in a residential part of town, and the façade could be mistaken for any house in the street. Inside of course, was all sauna. The first night, we got there at around 6 PM on a Saturday, and immediately was accosted by boys. Majority of them were next door types, but quote a few were smoking hot as well. Upon checking in, Paulo let me know that clients wore white towels, and boys wore blue towels. This was kind of interesting, as I guess it highlighted which populations were more numerous that the other. My estimate was an even 50/50 split of boys and clients. On the first night, Paulo was immediately chatted up by some clients who were eager for his business, so I was left to my own devices minute one. Which was interesting because I had quite a few boys ask me questions and tried to get something going with me. As one particularly branquinho who was young and tall was chatting me up, Paulo swooped in and put an arm around me. Apparently I was chatting up his “best buddy” in the sauna, and he was firm in telling him that I was the BF. The cute guy apologizes to him and me and quickly moves along. I met quite of few of Paulo’s posse in the sauna, all pretty good looking. He was also coaching one of the young bodybuilders on fitness and supplements, and though I was quite smitten by him, I knew I cant even broach the subject of a programa. I can only look, but cannot touch. Paulo said a lot of the boys here accepted 50 reais as payment for one programa because (a) this was Fortaleza and (b) they ran a volume business. They probably did 5-10 clients a night. Paulo only did a max of 3 or 4, and he would never accept anything lower than 100 reais. Even if I wasn’t able to do any programas, Paulo made up for it by deciding not to work the three nights we visited Mykonos sauna, so his attention was all on me, and boy it was great. It was fun, since he was game to both show me the facilities of the sauna, and using the facilities to their fullest potential. An example, they had a nice small pool/hydromassager that the sauna had, and we had a blast *almost* having sex in it. We drove people away because of the insane PDA. We also played pool in the premises, and it was actually nice to watch the boys play pool sometimes, because some of them had to contort themselves to make a move, and since most of them were in either underwear or towels, its nice to see, I got to see some cock and balls at times. Oddly enough, the sauna had not one but two places for a stage for any drag numbers or stripper shows. The owner actually gave me a personal tour of the premises, and explained to me that the second entertainment space was left empty because sometimes there are private events in there. I got an insight on the challenges a sauna owner had during a pandemic. He had to sacrifice a lot to get the sauna to still be running. Two of the major things he did that he thinks made his sauna the place to go for the gays were: he made the entry for the working boys (GPs) free, and he fed the boys dinner every night. This made the boys come in droves. Even to just have one meal a day. And in a place with a lot of boys, clients will follow. It was an interesting strategy, and yes there was a lot of boys, and a lot of clients, in the premises. I also got a sample of the free dinner one night. Some rice and meat thing. It was actually tasty. I have to say that this space is pretty nice and spacious, and it reminds me of the old Lagoa space in SP. And I certainly had a ton of fun in it, even if I didn’t do one programa in the three nights I was there. This was definitely a new paradigm I was in. I was in a “monogamous” relationship with a GP, and I still got to go to the saunas and gawk at the boys. Let’s see how long this lasts. Next, the weird Sao Luis, Maranhao.1 point

The Reopening of Brazil to Foreigners: some observations
kennywantsit reacted to numazu for a topic
LOL, noone would pay for this. I think when I becomes bfs with a guy here, there is an implied shelf life on both sides of the relationship. I put the kibosh on the relationship if it seems that it is evolving into something that would require me to take the boy to the USA. Thankfully this almost never happens, and I think I instinctively embark on relationships with boys that dont seem to be interested in taking it to the next level. I think Paulo also wishes that this has a finite shelf life, but I think right now we are giving each other what we need right now. He ahs definitely given my trips the needed kick it needed. You're welcome! Ask anyone who has met me and know me personally, yes I seem to be the sex maniac in real life as I portray myself in my reports. This has been the huge downfall in my life... always looking for sex. And if there are times I am not horny, it does not take much to get me there, and there is nothing like a sexy young guy that takes me to this state of horniness. How can it not? Especially in Brazil. Also, I am a huge proponent of "faking it till you make it" which means even when not horny, I can get there quickly if I put my mind to it, and get the necessary tools to get me there. TL;DR - I am a slut. Bonus Sao Paulo topic: I know this is interesting to some people wondering. I was at the Quality Suites Bela Sintra which is just across the street from Espaco Lagoa, and while waiting in the lobby for a friend to come, happend upon this guy, with a client, checking out of the hotel: It was unmistakenly Adriel Fernandes, the popular stripper in Lagoa and other SP haunts. I guess this confirms that he can be bought. I'd wanna chase that one of these days.1 point -

When I left Bangkok last February, all the venues in Patpong and Silom were experiencing noticeable declines in attendance. People were reacting in the same way they are now out of a healthy dose of fear. When the government gets a handle of the current outbreak, this will reverse itself among the locals but it will do nothing to attract international tourists. Today's Thaiger carried an article about a new website launched by the TAT to simplify the booking of ASQ hotels in the hope that it would encourage more arrivals. One look, however, at the booking process tells the tale of why the people needed to save the hospitality sector are not following through.0 points
