    What are they waiting for?

We both have long memories. It was on my very first trip that I observed this same scene. Tarntawan Place had sent a car to the airport and the driver got into the left traffic lane on Rama 4 in preparation for the turn onto Surawong. Traffic was very heavy as we crept along and I was wondering what all these cute young guys were doing on that block. After quickly showering and unpacking a few things, I walked back up Surawong to Rama 4. Although I had no idea where or what I was doing (other than engaging my hunting instincts), the smiles came quick and easy. The third or fourth guy took the few steps towards me, touched my arm and said, "we go your hotel." He informed me of the financial expectation (500) and that he was university student. I later learned that many of the others on that strip were also students or day workers supplementing their income. That was my brief but excellent introduction to Bangkok.

  2. Yes I agree this series is different than the typical BL series the main plot is a the suicide/murder (?) mystery and the development of the relationship between the two main characters are in the bakround . The first episode is great and it seems very promising series.

    Us election Biden V Trump

Certainly lecturing other countries by USA about democracy will be much harder now courtesy to antics of 80% of Trump voters who apparently consider election was stolen from their misguided idol

  4. z909 came closest to reality. The last answer to the twitter thread can be translated as : "these are spy soldiers who secretly came here to catch the mob ; the place is the 11th Infantry Regiment quarters (that's probably so)". Note to thai readers : "natacha" means spies for obvious reasons. Google gave me the answer about where these quarters are located in Bangkok : Phahonyothin Road in Bang Khen area, just south of the well-known Laksi roundabout. And Google Street View could confirm this in an unmistakable way (picture below).

  6. I don't know how anyone can keep up with all of this. Apparently Ohm and Fluke are from some previous series? The comments on this video are asking if they have a new series coming which seems likely. I have to say the actors are adorable

  7. After first episode of "Manner of Death " I must say it's different by long mile from all BL shows I watched so far. Very intense murder story so have your blood pressure pills handy but in the first episode we already have a peek at Tul's naked torso and MaxTul kissing scene so if one doesn't use that pill on digesting murder still needs it to get over gay love story it seems. I found that description on internet very fitting " This is a suspenseful crime series that tells a bond between two men through the gripping story of a murder case. " It looks next 14 weeks waiting for the vaccine will be shorter because of that very unusual BL story, 13 episodes to go.

How close is a vaccine ?

From The Nation Thailand to launch nationwide Covid-19 vaccination in May Thailand’s Covid-19 vaccination programme will begin in May 2021, according to the Department of Disease Control (DDC)’s action plan revealed on Thursday. The country last week signed a Bt6-billion deal to buy 26 million doses of the AstraZeneca/Oxford vaccine to immunise 13 million people. The vaccine will first have to pass safety and quality checks applied by the Thai Food and Drug Administration and Department of Medical Sciences under the Public Health Ministry, said DDC director-general Opas Karnkawinpong.Secondly, the DDC will prepare vaccination centres at more than 10,000 subdistrict health promotion hospitals nationwide to reach communities quickly and prevent crowding in large hospitals. A cold-chain transport system to maintain vaccine quality is now being prepared, and officials are being trained for the mass vaccination programme. The first to be called for registration will be medical staff, young children, the elderly, and vulnerable groups. Local health authorities will then summon registered participants for vaccination at health promotion hospitals or mobile health units.

    Us election Biden V Trump

There are three actions that would have to occur in order for votes to be tabulated with 24 hours of the close of polling places: 1. The deadline for mail-in ballots would have to be set at least 14 days prior to election day to allow sufficient time to process and count ballots. 2. A federal law is needed to require states to begin counting ballots as they are received. Currently, it is a state-by-state decision. Some states do not permit counting until election day. 3. Walk-in and drop-off voting needs to be permitted over an extended period beginning at least 21 days prior to election day. Currently decisions about this are made on a state-by-state basis. Elimination of the Electoral College system would be a great improvement but that's a bridge too far with the current make up of congress. As for the state of democracy in the US, the mighty effort to combat Trump--and his allies--attempts to subvert the will of the electorate demonstrated just how precious (and costly) freedom can be. Many republican election officials came forward to defend the validity of the vote that spelled defeat for their party's leader in several key states. The information age, and the potential for misinformation it can generate, is perhaps the greatest threat to democracy everywhere.

  13. If ever there was a case for a total revamp of the US electoral system, especially post election, we are seeing it now. As in the UK, there has to be a way to count all votes far more quickly and for the loser to move out of the White House within less than 24 hours. The present desperate state of affairs in Washington is a horrendous example to the rest of the world.

  15. From Coconuts Bangkok What’s the most romantic way to celebrate life and surviving 2020? Certainly it’s cuddling in bed in a theater with dozens of strangers watching a movie? That’s exactly what Thailands’ No. 2 theater owner SF Cinema and a bedding company will debut tomorrow at SF World Cinema with the opening of “The Bed Cinema.” SF Cinema World’s former theater No. 13 has been renovated with 40 beds, a 4k digital projector and Dolby 7.1 surround sound. Tickets are available at three levels of reclined luxury: a twin bed (for single self-cuddlers at THB900-THB1,000), a queen (two people for THB1,800-THB2,000) and a king (four very familiar folks for THB3,600-THB4,000). Each bed is equipped with an electric, adjustable Omazz bed and bedding. The Bed Cinema by Omazz opens tomorrow at SF World Cinema located atop the CentralWorld shopping mall. Tickets can be purchased online or at the cinema kiosk.

I recalled one of the place they gather for protest was near the kasetsart university, which is pretty close to this area. Perhaps they were on standby for potential protest.

  18. From Bloomberg / Bangkok Post Rusty pilots making flying errors is next aviation headache On Sept 15, an Indonesian flight carrying 307 passengers and 11 crew to the northern city of Medan momentarily veered off the runway after landing, sparking an investigation by the country’s transport safety regulator. It found the pilot had flown less than three hours in the previous 90 days. The first officer hadn’t flown at all since Feb 1. The incident underlines an emerging risk from the coronavirus pandemic: pilots aren’t getting enough opportunity to fly because airlines have grounded planes and scaled back operations due to a slump in demand for air travel. In its preliminary report, Indonesia’s National Transportation Safety Committee said the pandemic has made it harder to maintain pilot proficiency and flying experience. The Lion Air aircraft involved was an Airbus SE A330, one of 10 in the carrier’s fleet. Because Lion Air doesn’t have a simulator for the A330, its pilots are trained at third-party facilities in Indonesia, Malaysia and Singapore. Covid-19 travel restrictions have made those harder to access. “Regular flying keeps your mind in the cockpit,” said Mohan Ranganathan, an aviation safety consultant who was an adviser to India’s Directorate General of Civil Aviation. “Being away from flying for such a long time brings in some complacency. Add loss of income, uncertainty about jobs or the future of the airline, that brings in additional stress. With an increase in stress levels, proficiency drops.” Analytics company Cirium says almost a third of the world’s passenger jets remain in storage -- parked in the centre of Australia and the US’s Mojave Desert. While there’s been a recovery in domestic travel in larger markets such as China, international traffic is way off pre-pandemic levels because of border restrictions and mandatory quarantine, a big deterrent to travellers. Thousands of pilots have been laid off or furloughed, and those still in work are flying a lot less because there’s so little demand. =========================================================== From The Nation AOT revising Suvarnabhumi’s Bt44bn northern expansion plan The 44 billion baht northern expansion of Bangkok’s Suvarnabhumi airport is being revised, to meet “new normal” requirements, according to Airports of Thailand. AOT president, Nitinai Sirismatthakarn, says the process will take 1 or 2 months to complete. Nation Thailand reports that the airport’s new northern terminal will have the capacity to handle 30 million passengers a year, with Nitinai remaining optimistic about a return to normal figures next year. He says the availability of effective Covid-19 vaccines should fuel a return to normality, with passenger traffic at Suvarnabhumi eventually reaching pre-Covid numbers of 65 million in 2023. He adds that the Satellite Terminal 1 should be completed in 2022, with plans also being drawn up to extend the airport’s existing terminal east and west. The Satellite Terminal 1 is expected to increase the airport’s capacity by an additional 15 million passengers a year. =============================================================== From The Nation Cabinet gives green light to new 120kph speed limit Tuesday’s Cabinet meeting approved a Transport Ministry draft for new speed limits on Thai roads. The draft ministerial regulation raises the speed limit on highways from 90 kilometres per hour to 120kph (76 mph) – but only for cars. A limit of 90kph has been set for trucks weighing more than 2.2 tonnes and buses with room for more than 15 passengers. Minivans and buses with capacity for 7-15 passengers are limited to 100kph (62 mph). A 65kph limit applies to cars towing another vehicle, small four-wheelers, and three-wheelersMeanwhile motorcycles have an 80kph (50mph)speed limit, though big bikes of 35kW or more have a 100kph ceiling. School buses are limited to 80kph. The speed limits will apply on national and rural highways of four lanes separated by a barrier and without U-turn points.

  19. David called last night but I had already set myself to be alone with Diego. I wanted to sleep alone my last night, and I thought it would be a good idea to give him my undivided attention, so we would not feel offended when I kick him out. When he woke up from his long nap, we ordered from Uber Eats, and had one of our warm bad sex sessions. I wish I were a bottom, he is a great kisser and his hard on is ever lasting. After having diner we hugged and kissed for a long time. I gave him an extra tip, and he asked me for my bluetooth speakers. He loved that little speaker, 20 bucks in amazon. When I was with another guy, he would sleep listening to music with that speaker under the sheets. I wonder why he prefers that rather than earphones. We had had several arguments because he would contaminate public spaces with his loud music (He tried to use them in Abricó and in the condo swimming pool). I deeply dislike when others force me to listen to their music, and I would not allow him to do that. Of course, I gave him the speakers, I only use them for traveling. After his tip and his speakers, another long session of kissing and hugging, and I was finally alone. It was way passed midnight, and I immediately fell asleep. Well, no immediately. During this week I had not changed the sheets. About 5 men had shared them with me. While I was feeling asleep, cuddled by the ocean music, I got to smell the mix of all of them. It was a delicious perfume, and I had the sweetest dreams. This morning I checked out at 10am, and moved to Rhyheim’s house in Leblon. I was considering a programa with Carlos Maranhão, but he was at his hotel and did not have the chance. We just relaxed and chilled with the ones in the house, until they went to the beach at 4pm and left me alone. I did not want to join them, I like to be early in the airports because I get anxious and stressed before traveling. At 6 my Uber took me to Galeão. The pandemic is more visible in this Brazilian airport than in the ones I used in the USA. I did not have to do any lines. I was the only one checking through security. When I arrived to passports check, all the agents would call me, I think they were running some kind of competition. I chose the closest one. In one minute I was walking through empty lounges and closed shops. I spent some of my Rials left overs in the duty free shop, and for the first time I had to do a line. One woman was before me. Only two gates were operational, so everyone traveling was gathering in this area. We were two flights, and yet I was able to choose an extra comfortable seating after grabbing my last Brazilian snack (which of course included pão de queijo). The flight was only half full, and was one of my best ones ever. I did not have anyone seated next to me, so I slept 8 hours uninterruptedly. We landed in Houston 30’ earlier. It was 7 and the airport looks even emptier than when I was going the other way. No lines for security check, again. Soon I will be boarding my last flight to DC, so this is my last “life” report. From now on, I will only post links to the reports published in my blog. The contrast is astonishing. I left a colorful and sunny Rio, the States welcomed me with a grey and rainy Houston.

  20. fine but I sense big dose of selfishness in such a statement. While reducing overpopulation is noble undertaking doing this by getting infected or infecting others with potentially deadly disease is not a way we should go about this. Throwing oneself from Rama VIII bridge does the same trick without inconveniencing others and fish will have their fill as a side benefit

  21. And, BTW, I'm from Alabama and grew up in George Wallace country. Still today, people believe that there should be no race mixing. I grew up and saw crosses burned in the yards of black families who moved into the area. I grew up and lived with one of my teachers being burned alive for being gay. Did all those people who did those horrific things die? The answer is no. They did not die. But, they all voted for Trump. Every one of them. I still believe that race is a big issue in the USA and while not always open about their beliefs, I do believe that 1/3 our America is racists, sexist, or homophobic. Most of them vote for Trump. We are not an equal society. Until I have to have "the talk" with my child about how to act with police so as not to be killed by police (for being black) we are not a society that treats all equally. Yes, I do believe the vast majority of those that voted for Trump are racists in some form. Do they shout it from the rooftops? No. But, they do shout it with their votes for a racist leader. Period!

  22. I got one today! I was surprised but it was being offered and only 2,000 baht so I took advantage of it. I'm a bit older and overweight and felt this was a good investment. I am not sure if I should have gotten it from the tailor I normally purchase my shirts from, but I figured they were from India and maybe they had an in with some pharmacy group so I took a chance. I know they would never lie to me just to make up for all the lost tourists.

  23. Looks like ABC is getting WOKE. I've never seen an episode of "Bachelor." I'd rather have a sex-change operation and have it go wrong. But I hear the show is very popular. Network TV is typically behind the eight-ball on social issues (Hello Ellen!), but they just cast their first Black bachelor. It's amazing to me this corporate decision was made SO FAST. Matt James is no Francois Angoston, but hey, if he dropped his towel in the sauna while winking at me, I'd certainly help him pick "it" up. Good for ABC to jump on the BLM bandwagon so quickly. It's not easy for a Black man to hold a rose with such a delicate grip. First Black ‘Bachelor,’ Matt James, Cast by ABC
