A somewhat disjointed Bangkok Post article that starts out discussing gay rights in the Trump administration and prospects in the Biden administration quickly morphs into a discussion of current gay cinema. Found a takeaway about gay male films that my be of interest. Nadao Bangkok's I Told Sunset About You, a romantic drama series that centers on the relationship between two high school boys. The five-episode series has completed its run and can now be binge-watched in one go on Line TV. What was initially perceived as the studio's attempt to hop on the popular Boys' Love bandwagon impressively turned out to be much more. At times sensual, at times heartbreaking, Sunset was a well-rounded, coming-of-age drama with good writing, and beautiful cinematography to match. The story dives into the struggle of defining and exploring one's identity and sexual orientation. The performance of two lead actors, Putthipong Assaratanakul and Krit Amnuaydechkorn, were also praised. Following a successful run, it was announced that a sequel is in the making and will follow the two protagonists as they go on to study at universities. Must-see! Fucking brilliant! Just released. "SHUT THE FUCK UP!"

The last episode almost saved the series for me, but I wasn't a fan of the ending. I get that a lot of the praise was pinned on how "realistic" it is as a coming of age story. I didn't quite buy that, but there's plenty of melodrama. But for sure the cinematography is excellent. I wasn't quite as sold on the leads' acting, but the little mini-documentaries attached to each episode made them more likable.

Nation Thailand reports that the airport’s new northern terminal will have the capacity to handle 30 million passengers a year, with Nitinai remaining optimistic about a return to normal figures next year. He says the availability of effective Covid-19 vaccines should fuel a return to normality, with passenger traffic at Suvarnabhumi eventually reaching pre-Covid numbers of 65 million in 2023. He adds that the Satellite Terminal 1 should be completed in 2022, with plans also being drawn up to extend the airport’s existing terminal east and west. The Satellite Terminal 1 is expected to increase the airport’s capacity by an additional 15 million passengers a year. =============================================================== From The Nation Cabinet gives green light to new 120kph speed limit Tuesday’s Cabinet meeting approved a Transport Ministry draft for new speed limits on Thai roads. The draft ministerial regulation raises the speed limit on highways from 90 kilometres per hour to 120kph (76 mph) – but only for cars. A limit of 90kph has been set for trucks weighing more than 2.2 tonnes and buses with room for more than 15 passengers. Minivans and buses with capacity for 7-15 passengers are limited to 100kph (62 mph). A 65kph limit applies to cars towing another vehicle, small four-wheelers, and three-wheelersMeanwhile motorcycles have an 80kph (50mph)speed limit, though big bikes of 35kW or more have a 100kph ceiling. School buses are limited to 80kph. The speed limits will apply on national and rural highways of four lanes separated by a barrier and without U-turn points.

it's not surprising at all, I always say that worst day of the year is first day at work after holidays . Those are rarely long but we still need some adjustment after break.

Im not sure if the gay weekly drinks events are still happening. I went twice and frankly would not recommend them. Very few attended. Two or three small groups of Thais all stayed at their own tables with their own friends, and a few farang. Neither group mixed.

I found it fascinating, too. It appears he's a man of strong integrity and conviction - "country before party" - and there he is out in public, forced to respond to what an asshole "boss" did to his hard work and reputation. I was sure the guy was holding back tears. Frankly, it reminded me of some dark years I spent in corporate. I think any executive from corporate could relate to Krebs' situation. I sometimes had bosses who felt it was necessary to take credit for my work, or worse, politically necessary to not support my ideas for a project, even though it would mean settling for an inferior idea. It didn't take me very long to see the writing on the wall. If I was going to continue loving what I do for work, I needed to be my own boss, beholden to no one but my own client. There is nothing more gratifying in life than controlling your own destiny. Krebs is smart, handsome, and relatively young. I have a feeling his future is much brighter than Trump's.

David called last night but I had already set myself to be alone with Diego. In one minute I was walking through empty lounges and closed shops. I spent some of my Rials left overs in the duty free shop, and for the first time I had to do a line. One woman was before me. Only two gates were operational, so everyone traveling was gathering in this area. We were two flights, and yet I was able to choose an extra comfortable seating after grabbing my last Brazilian snack (which of course included pão de queijo). The flight was only half full, and was one of my best ones ever. I did not have anyone seated next to me, so I slept 8 hours uninterruptedly. We landed in Houston 30’ earlier. It was 7 and the airport looks even emptier than when I was going the other way. No lines for security check, again. Soon I will be boarding my last flight to DC, so this is my last “life” report. From now on, I will only post links to the reports published in my blog. The contrast is astonishing. I left a colorful and sunny Rio, the States welcomed me with a grey and rainy Houston.

Glad to update that Arena is still around, though a shadow of its former self. Went during the afternoon and there were only 4 to 5 masseurs around.
