  1. Finally, some downtime to write. Here are other parts of my trip. This post is about my night 2 weeks ago: Another Few Days in Rio, Part 1 - The Sauna Duds After my two weeks all holed up (and remotely working) the BF at his apartment in cold and wet winter in Santa Catarina, we were all set up to take a week off in Recife, a northeastern city. But first, I carved out a two night stay in Rio to play around a bit, before reuniting with the BF to jet up to Recife. As Brazil (and most of the world) reopens, with precaution for COVID, there is word that the two other saunas in Rio are reopening as well, to give Point 202 a run for its money. With the tourist numbers still depressed, it will be interesting to see how these three vie for the local market. What I’ve seen in Point 202 has been tepid at best, a few stunners, but overall a bit mediocre, not to mention, the crumbling infrastructure and shoddy cleaning procedures is not impressive. So there is word that Lions was opening the Friday I’m gonna be in Rio, and Club 117 is opening the next Monday, unfortunately I’d be in Recife already. I guess I’d just have to check it out next Rio visit. I made two overnight dates for the two nights I was going to be alone in Rio, with two boy pairs, for the one pair was a pair two tops, and the other, a pair of two vers-bottoms. I know that does not make any sense, pairing a key with another key, and having the two slots together, but this perceived incompatibility is actually an interesting experiment I’m willing to take. More on this next post. I get to Rio at night, at meet up with the two tops at the AirBNB. The next day I met the two bottoms at 202, because I wanted to get a boy in the sauna before retiring to the apartment with my two dates. I run a volume business, apparently. Insatiable sex drive + increasing dollar value = never ending possibilities. Anyway, as I was prepping to go to the sauna, Bottom 1 texts me: He then called me to tell me that Point 202 is actually pretty empty, and he said it was better to go to Lions tonight, as it is its first night to reopen. I told him to stay put, because I wanted to at least get one boy in 202, but agreed that we should go to Lion's afterwards. So I haul my ass out of my post-coital bliss with the two tops I just played with, showered and got dressed, and headed to Point 202. Getting to Point, I was expecting a Friday crowd, which in the pandemic meant at least a decent crowd but not standing room only. I was wrong. The sauna was dissapointingly empty, with a few boys, and with really just one boy hot that I would be just OK with fucking. Bottom 1 finds me and gives me a big hug, and then a big wet kiss. I told him he was right, that the sauna was empty, even if it was a Friday night: The sauna was veeerrrryyyy slow. Slow enough that when I was looking around, I noticed something for the very first time, and I would not have not noticed if the sauna was busy and my attention would be elsewhere: a big mural of the sauna owner on display. I would not have noticed this in a million years. Has this always been there? : Bottom 2 joined us and invited us to go to the upstairs bar to smoke. Again, super-duper empty: After 30 minutes of searching, in vain, for my Point prince charming, I said fuck it and told the two boys that we should check out Lions. It was Lions first night back, and they said it will be super busy with festivities tonight. So we all check out of the empty Point, and we get the Uber to Lions. 20 minutes later, we were there. The alleyway where Lions had some mask-less agglomeration already, so I knew the club at least had some action tonight. And indeed, they are open! Finally, another sauna open to compete for Rio’s business: And compared to Point 202, they seem to have their COVID health theater down. Samples: At the door, signage telling people that masks are required, reduced capacity crowds indoors, promoting social distancing, and sanitization of the facilities: At check-in, hand sanitizer with foot pedal for application to hands (with Lion’s branding!): The tables had this signage, saying the tables and chairs were cleaned, which is reassuring, even if it was more or less accurate: Everything was decked out for the reopening, and the festive music and atmosphere was fairly exciting: Looking at the fairly healthy sized crowds of both customers and boys, I was quite surprised. I know that masks are mandatory, but most if not all customers and boys had no masks on. The employees, and the owner, had masks on, though. There was a good crowd inside, almost to a point that I felt transported to another time, pre-COVID. Lots of agglomeration, lots of contact, and lots of drinking, dancing, and merry-making. At this point in my trip, I was less queasy about the whole COVID precautions thing, having been lulled into a false sense of security by surviving a month in Brazil without any health scares, but still, this was new. I just rolled with it and drank and laughed and flirted with the rest of the folk. Life is short, have fun when you can. Yeah you might get sick and die tomorrow, but you only have right now that you can control. There was a show with some drag queens and a stripper that was heavily decked out in indio gear. Not my cup of tea, but I rolled with it: As for hunting boys, the place was a dud, for me. There was one or two that caught my attention, but with the atmosphere more geared towards being a bar to hang out in, rather than a sauna that you got boys from, I was just not feeling the motivation to pick a boy to fuck in the sauna. After a few drinks and merriment, and with the two bottom boys in hand, I felt that I had enough, without fucking a boy, and just told the boys that we should just go home and continue our festivities there, hopefully with all of us naked. Two saunas, one super slow, one busy and lively, but both not quite good enough for me to get a boy to fuck. Oh well, can't win them all. Next post, a date with two tops, and then a date with two bottoms.

My opinion only: He wants you come to the bar, pay for all the drinks, treat all his friends, win him lots of respect, show the bar staff he has a wealthy patron, and then send him home with money without having to spend any baht himself to celebrate his own birthday. He will likely go to see his family in the day time, or several days later if they live far away. Thai boys like to spend their birthdays drunk with friends not in the countryside with their family!

  3. The birthday part of this topic reminded me of a massage boy at Scandic massage in Boyztown Pattaya. To prove it was his birthday, he showed me his ID card. It was his birthday but when I saw his birth year, he was 8 years older than he told me.

  4. I won't comment on the Ministry of Education's policies. What I will say as someone who taught in Thailand 20 years ago is that the salaries for foreign teachers in publicly funded schools in Thailand -- which is a category that takes in all public primary and secondary schools, as well as many colleges and universities -- were fixed at 25K baht per year (17K salary + 8K housing allowance) back in the 1990s. They have not changed since, as far as I know, or at least they hadn't the last time I checked, which was in 2015. Twenty-five thousand a month was a decent salary in the 90s, but I wouldn't care to try living on it in 2020. There are sometimes opportunities to earn more, either through overtime or by taking on extra classes in after-school programs. That said, private schools, colleges, and universities may offer higher pay, as will commercial language schools, especially ones that specialize in corporate language training. The most lucrative teaching positions by far are those in the international primary and secondary schools (i.e. schools run on foreign curricula where at least 70% of the pupils are foreign passport holders). For those jobs, however, you *usually* need to be licensed to teach in public schools in your home country. In other words, you need to be a properly qualified career teacher. If that's you, hooray. You could be making a salary similar to what you would make back home, plus benefits like free flights for home leave, multiple weeks of paid vacation, a generous housing allowance, top-of-the-line health insurance, etc., etc. In nearly all cases, you would be recruited from abroad, often at international school job fairs. There is one loophole for those not properly qualified: international schools that have to fill unexpected vacancies on short notice are permitted to hire under-qualified foreign teachers on local contract, on the spot. You won't get the benefits, but you will get a salary comparable to what your more qualified colleagues get. The tricky bit is to be in the right place at the right time...

  5. I might add to this guess that the boy probably want you to be included in his special day, apart from the money, as he wants to show respect to you too. U only invite close friends/family to such event. It probably to announce to all the boys in the bar that you are now his? Haha. Eitherway, dont overthink it. Its his special day, and i think since he obviously make u happy, just go with what he wanted as long as its reasonable.

  8. I went back to the gay area tonight. It was rainy and everything was quiet. HotMale had very few guys on stage. Dreamboys had even less. Freshboys had more but not the typical slew. I went back to take the guy from Sept. 12. I really like him and have chatted daily since meeting. I popped in to get him. I wanted to take someone from his bar with us but the boy I took from last month didn't want to go with him. He is now a bit jealous and upset I am taking his friend. We left: Drink 300 for me Drink 300 for boy Off Fee 500 so total for Freshboys was 1200 baht. I was walking by Screwboy when a guy called my name. I didn't remember him but he remembered me. He started telling me the names of all my exes from Pattaya. He had photos as well. I was intrigued so I went inside and had drinks with him and the boy from Fresh. It was fun and they had beers. The mamasans swarmed around us. There were two new boys from Bangkok in clothes. I had them both for drinks and they were hot! But, "Man. Man." and no sucking or anything so I left them alone but have an eye on one of them. 6 drinks at 300 baht each was 1800 baht 200 baht for each boy was 800 baht 100 baht for tips for my boys friends there 400 baht 400 baht from guy who remembered me from Pattaya and a nice conversation 3400 baht total for Screwboys Total for night: 4600 baht Boy who came home for short time was a good tip which I won't get into great details. But, a good night with no customers anywhere and few boys and still I had a hot big dick guy next to me for hours and told me he now wants to stay with me all next weekend. Good night with hot boys all around and the hottest one with me for a great time!

I might be biased to my own experience, but local teachers have insight to teaching locals better than any native speakers, simply because they know and speak both languages and can explain better to the locals. I assume any native english teachers wanted to work in thailand would have to learn the thai language too for them to be great at teaching the locals, but is it a requirement?

  12. Switching back to the original post peculating on a "why" about the birthday celebration - I agree with hank75 and with spoon's further insight. I celebrated one regular's birthday and it was important to his sense of face that I came to the bar for him and celebrated him with his friends also participating! My insight (not related to this question) is validate the birthdate...I remember one off who seemed to have more than one birthday a year as shown on his Facebook page.

I'm not adversely affected, thanks God , by Covid other than being unable and to some destinations, unwilling to travel but watching those soothes my Thai longing soul. Still 2gether was short one , just 5 episodes, less dramatic by more sweet / finishes with long kiss /. Love by Chance 2 four episodes were already aired, my advice - wait until completed to watch in one go

  18. OK. I have a boy I have been seeing from a bar. His Birthday is coming up. He wants me to come to his bar and get him to spend the night with me. I told him I would. But, I also told him I could just give him money and he could spend the money on having a good time with his friends. He does not want me to send him money but prefers that I come to get him and celebrate there and take him home. Now, I realize that money is part of this. But, would it not make sense if he does nothing for the money and I told him the same amount for him to just take a day off and spend with family and friends. He didn't want to do that. Why? I get he may be trying to make me happy. Or, does it look better for him to have someone go and get him? But, I don't get why he would prefer to spend the night with an old man as opposed to just going with his friends for the same amount of money. Any ideas? What am I missing?

His embrace with his boyfriend at parliament as they campaigned for gay marriage rights last December shocked conservatives and stirred a social media storm. Nine months on, the changes he now demands for Thailand are even more fundamental for the protest movement challenging an establishment long dominated by the army and the palace. "I'm confused as to how I got here," Tattep, 23, told Reuters. Since mid-July, protesters have been calling for the departure of Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha, a former coup leader. They want a new Constitution, fresh elections and an end to the harassment of activists. Although there is no overall leader of the fragmented movement – and activists say they want to keep it that way – a Jul 18 protest by Tattep's Free Youth Movement unexpectedly drew some 2,500 people and helped to build momentum for almost daily demonstrations since. "At that time, there was no one leading the protest, so I decided to do it," said Tattep, also known by the nickname Ford. Tattep grew up in the heart of Bangkok. His father works as a delivery driver for a mobile phone app. When Tattep's mother died six years ago, they moved into one room in a shared house while he completed his studies. "I support him because the movement is for the country: It's not only about him," said his father, Somrak Ruangprapaikitseree. But his father worries the protests could turn violent, recalling the decade of bloody street turmoil before Prayut's 2014 coup. Tattep said his political awareness began during those protests, when pro-establishment yellow shirts shut down Bangkok in clashes with red shirt supporters of former Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra. While Tattep had initially hoped to be a pharmacist, he switched to political science and graduated from Bangkok's Chulalongkorn University this year. He and boyfriend Panumas Singprom met on Tinder and realised they had been going to the same political meetings. "We don't want to grow old and have our kids ask us, 'When the country faced injustice what did you do?'" said Panumas, who is often by his side. Last year's election fuelled calls for change after Prayut returned as prime minister in a vote his opponents said was unfair. Prayut says the vote was fair. As well as campaigning for LGBT rights, they set up a discussion forum on Facebook that became the Free Youth Movement – and later the Free People Movement to broaden its appeal. "Let it end in our generation," shouted Tattep as he took the stage on Aug 16 at a Bangkok demonstration of more than 10,000 people, the biggest yet.

  23. It was sudden. RBG just conducted (!) a wedding in a park close to my house 3 days ago. Surprisingly Trump keeps an official "SC candidate" bio list: https://www.whitehouse.gov/briefings-statements/additions-president-donald-j-trumps-supreme-court-list/ If T-rump wins and he's smart (lol) he should put Ted Cruz on the Court. Within a week he'd have 8 more vacancies to fill. AAMOF if he nominated Ted Cruz 70% of Senators would probably vote to confirm him in 15 minutes before Trump could change his mind. Just to be rid of Cruz. Sen.Tom Cotton would probably be the easiest to confirm as there is still a Senatorial comity among members. Politically Carlos Muniz now on the Florida Supreme Court or Barbra Lagoa (also FL Latino) or Bridget Bade (AZ) would work well for election votes in swing states. I don't think it would be easy for Trump to get a confirmation before the election, but whether he wins or loses, lame ducks in the Senate after Nov 3 (like hopefully Susan Collins) will vote however their future income prospects warrant. This changes the election a lot as it puts the abortion issue on center stage and that's a huge issue in Pennsylvania and Wisconsin.

  29. This thread makes me remember many funny times. I had regular from Soi Twilight when I was living in Bangkok. He was someone who I saw many times and we went on trips together and sometimes went home with 2 or 3 of his friends. I never asked his age because the Bar I was taking him from and my own eyes guessed 21-23. Then 1, 3 day trip to Chiang Mai he left my computer on and he was chatting with friends and he forgot sign off. It was Thai site but some was easiy to translate. He had all his information and under age he was 34. To this day it is hard to believe . We laughed about it and I told him , that it made no difference to me and it did not. I wish I had stayed in touch . He would be 44 now and I'd love to see a current photo. Memories!

  30. peaceful protests tend to be more effective as stone throwing provokes violent reaction and tend to enrage " law and order" segment of population. We can only wish them luck even if democracy has own disadvantages.

  31. Maybe it's just me but I think we subconciously behave different depending on the age of those we talk to. If someone is say 40 we tend take him more serious and make less (childish) jokes. If someone is 20 and think "what can he know about this topic at his young age" (sex excluded) and we talk a lot more nonsense and make more jokes. How must feel an Asian guy in Europe who is 40 but still looks 20 ...

  34. The first boy in Thailand I ever took for an overnight trip to Pattaya was from Future Boys in Bangkok. He spent 2 weeks with me on my very first trip to LOS. He was adorable and from Laos. He said he was 19 on day 1. A few days later he said he was 22. I told him I didn't care. But, I thought about it and wondered why he lied. We were at the Marriott in Pattaya and he was registered. So, I asked them to pull up his ID and tell me his age. They did. He was 29. I told him I knew and he said sorry. It was OK for me and he continued to travel with me from time to time. 10 years later, I met him in a bar in Bangkok and I said, 'How old are you?" and he said, "19." From Bangkok Post Tourists must isolate in home countries The Ministry of Public Health on Friday unveiled its latest plan to reopen to visitors from abroad with 2,270 foreign tourists already reportedly planning to visit Thailand. Dr Chakrarat Pittayawonganon, director of the Bureau of Mental Health Strategy under the Department of Disease Control, (DDC) said in a press briefing yesterday that foreign tourists must present proof of a negative Covid-19 test no more than 72 hours prior to travel. They must also have quarantined in their country of origin and have health insurance for international travel and a specified minimum amount of money in their bank account as well as a record of not visiting crowded places prior to their departure. During their domestic quarantine, visitors must have been tested twice for Covid-19 at the beginning and end of the process. If both tests are negative for the virus, they will be allowed to travel to Thailand. The DDC said it planned to increase staff at international disease control checkpoints and allow people from low-risk countries to enter Thailand first. The department will provide training on Covid-19 control and prevention for entrepreneurs as well as the general public and government officers whose jobs place them in contact with foreign travellers. Related state bodies are currently deciding when these measures will take effect. Director-General of the Health Service Support Department, Dr Thares Krasnairawiwong, said 735 medical tourists from China, Myanmar, Oman, Australia and Cambodia were receiving treatment in Thailand after they completed a 14-day quarantine. The tourists were expected to generate around 25 million baht for the country, said the doctor. More than 2,270 foreigners from China, Myanmar, Japan and Kuwait have reportedly expressed their wish to enter Thailand, and are expected to generate 115 million baht in revenue. O

    I'm also in the camp of 3000 / day. This is what I paid on few of such occasions. I always asked him what his expectations are. Whey they expected less, I made it to 3000/day by way of parting bonus. If they wanted more I counter offered to 3000 and it was accepted. But honestly 20000 i.e 2000 / day would be reasonable as I doubt now even most popular guys get offed that often and 20000 is still sizable amount of money. Of course off fee for bar is on top of it. If you want economize, try to negotiate discount with bar, they may go for it those days. Or even better leave it to the boy - give him money and tell him if he manages to get discount , leftover is his. I'd not mention any parting bonus as it may create unwarranted expectations. Is better to surprise him at the end. 10 days is a long time, make sure you give him few hours daily to do whatever he wants and tell him in advance you will need the same. To boost his face arrange for him to pay bills when you are dining or taking trip somewhere together. This makes an impression in eyes of bystanders both of you are on even footage. Also , even if money is yours you may notice they will tend to order less costly menu items. It doesn't look good if you spend on the dinner the same amount you pay him as daily rate. You know all of that but other readers may find it useful
