I went to Silom 4 area. First, it was a rainy night so no expectations from me on anything. The Soi 4 area was fairly busy with customers and guys. It looked like a lot of things going on. I just watched the first episode of this new HBO series. Very promising. Just drooling for Jonathan Majors makes it worthy to watch, but it is a very well written, performed, and produced TV. I wish HBO followed Netflix model and released the whole series at once.

@Latbear4blk My french teacher had us read The Little Prince and I loved it. It was the first (and perhaps only) book I read in another language. But, later in life, I grew to love Captain Corelli's Mandolin. I don't know why your thread made me this of this, but this is one book that I always have with me. The other book that has traveled with me is Dr. Seuss's "Oh, the places you'll go." It was a gift from friends when I retired and they all inscribed lovely thoughts in it before I moved from NYC to travel the world. They were right, I had many places to travel and many adventures.

I love reading. But, I learned this when I was a kid. My favorite book was The Hobbit. I read it way too early and didn't get a lot of it. But, I read it over and over and finally got each part. It helped me to fall in love with reading. What was your favorite book as a child?

A rainy Friday night so I headed over to Tawan, thinking there might be very few customers and the guys might be eager for some tip money. Indeed, when I arrived at 10:15, there was exactly one customer inside. No show, so no cover charge. The guys were wearing street clothes, taking only their shirt off for the on-stage rotation, and looking bored to death. I announced that I would buy drinks for any naked boys and immediately had several takers. The only other customer took an off, which left me as the only customer, drinking with a bunch of naked guys. Definitely, I am planning my expedition in November, moving away from fantasy territory. It is going to be very different to my previous experiences. Usually, I would stay in Copacabana to be closer to my favorite sauna, but I am not planning to hang out in indoors places this trip. I am exploring airbnbs in Recreio dos Bandeirantes and close to Praia Grumari. It is an area I have not explored much, but liked a lot in my few visits. Hopefully, I will find a roomy an open apartment with a terrace, as I am going to hang out there with the boys more than usual. I am aware than November may deliver a rainy week for me, so I want a place that does not feel crowded with 3/4 people. Ideally, I would prefer to find a place at walking distance to go to Grumari and the protected area over there, without calling an Uber, but there is always the chance to rent a car to travel with my party, as most of the places I am checking include free parking. I have a question for those with more experience and knowledge of Rio. Besides Praia Grumari, what other interesting places can you visit in the area? I am looking for nature, and I do not like heights (I have never visited the Pão de Açúcar, or the Cristo, and I am not planning to). I do love water, if anyone knows of a port or marina where I could rent equipment for superficial scuba diving. We will probably cook and call deliveries mostly, but tips on good restaurants would also be appreciated. I have been in a few posts on Avenida Estado da Guanabara where the food was quite good. I am not high maintenance, I prefer to eat what the locals eat and avoid the Brazilian experience adapted for international tourism as much as possible. I know it is challenging in areas nearby the beaches, but if anyone knows of any places, please let me know.

Well Certainly it will only be "guesting" as Moonlight remains closed. Assuming things return to normal at some point AND the business is still afloat by then, then I'd assume that Moonlight reopens in it's former form, and Hotmale also returns to it's previous style. I just had a flash back and called my siblings to help me up to reconstruct this memory. Many years before I read The Little Prince, I was fascinated with Monteiro Lobato's stories. It is a blurred memory from the 60's. My family was living in Buenos Aires, but both of my parents were from a small town in Corrientes, in the Argentinean Mesopotamia. In the 60s there was not paved highway and no bridges to travel to Corrientes. We would board a huge steam boat in Buenos Aires and sail three days up the Paraná river. Then we would switch to a smaller boat to sail the Corriente river (not deep enough for the big steam boat) and in a few hours would arrive to our destination, Esquina. The name of the town comes from being right in the corner where two huge rivers meet. Esquina was a small town with two parallel main avenues and two major squares. Phone numbers were up to three digits, and you had to call the operator to connect you. The milk man would walk the town early in the morning, and deliver his still warm, just milked fresh product. Everybody had chickens in the backyard, and the first thing you would do in the morning was opening the house front door, to keep it wide open all day long. My grandfather (a dark skinned Uruguyan that I like to imagine gifted me with a few African gens, besides being a man slut with many women and illegitimate children, hell yes I feel identified) was one of the town butchers, with a stand in the local Central Market. I will never forget his fresh pork chorizos. There was one main church, one movie theater, one bar/cafe (una "confitería"), and yet many. many "panaderías". Back then it was the golden age for the traveling vendors. The town had una "Escuela Normal", the kind of high schools that educated K-7 teachers, and a population very fond of reading. Traveling vendors from different publishers would arrive and suddenly in all living rooms you would find the same new books collections. All families had the same edition of the Encyclopedia Britannica, the same dictionary in three fat volumes with dark green covers, the same cooking book by Doña Petrona de Gandulfo. All my relatives also had a collection of light green books by Monteiro Lobato, translated from the original Portuguese. "El Rancho del Pájaro Amarillo". I spent so many hours reading those books and dreaming about traveling around the world and across time! I had completely forgotten this sweet memory. Thanks for this thread, @TotallyOz.
