Will the Palm Springs Escort Weekend get cancelled?
Latbear4blk and 2 others reacted to Lucky for a topic
That's because there is no Palm Springs Escort Weekend. The party began as The Hooville Weekend, named after the founder of what is now Daddy's reviews, Hooboy. Those of us who posted there lived in Hooville, the community of posters. Escorts have always been welcome, but the main reason for the gathering was for posters to meet each other. Once boytoy.com began its rise, an effort was made to welcome posters here to the Weekend, now renamed The Palm Springs Weekend to cover all posters. Escorts were still welcome. As the event gained popularity over 16 years, escort attendance increased as it was a good opportunity for them to enjoy each other's company as well as meet prospective clients. But the Weekend is not primarily for escorts.3 points -
From Bangkok Post Bangkok traffic back to gridlock as coronavirus measures ease Cars, trucks and motorcycles jostled on Monday in a return of the capital's familiar gridlock as commuters headed back to work in the second phase of easing coronavirus restrictions to get the economy back on track. As snarl-ups grew in Bangkok's notoriously congested streets, travellers headed to its northern bus terminal to get out to the provinces for the first time since March, most sitting beside empty seats, in line with social distancing rules. Queues formed on Sunday at the reopening of the country’s malls, where some operators are using touch-less elevators and deploying robots to take customers' temperatures. Even though Thailand has been reporting fewer coronavirus cases in recent weeks, the government is keeping closed places that typically attract large groups of people, such as cinemas. "Do not sit" signs have been posted on many of the seats on Bangkok's elevated train network to give sufficient gaps between passengers, and floor markers are in place to control lines.2 points

I think about 1 month after all restrictions are lifted things will resemble what we remember as normal. It will be some casualties but this happens all the time , virus or not . Some guys will disappear and some new talent will show up, just like always. Key word is 'all restrictions are lifted" as very few of us will be that horny as to risk quarantines on arrival in Thailand and again when returning home. Everybody will be making their calculations , bar owners , landlords and guys but if demand will appear, offer will spring in it's wake overnight.2 points

Right here, on Boytoy, you can see the latest parody video on the coronavirus, President Trump, and Dr. Anthony Fauci. It's highly recommended!2 points

As Thailand starts to reopen, a quick straw poll to see where members’ opinions lie about the recovery of go go bars. I am referring mainly to the Silom scene as Pattaya bars have already been besieged by other issues even pre pandemic, but opinions on Pattaya too are welcome. A couple of boys and bar staff I spoke to have suggested, based on current government policies, a mid June reopening of bars seems realistic. However most of you will also have read the latest news that international inbound flights are now banned until 1 July. No word yet if a lengthy quarantine will be imposed even after the ban is lifted. This means tourism will be impacted until at least end July or early August, the start of the rainy season and the usual low income period for bars. Should bars reopen in June, they will be dependent on expats and the rich foreign customers who weathered the lockdown in Bangkok for at least six to eight weeks if flights do not resume. Right now the bars are not paying salary to their staff, most of whom have returned to their hometowns. Based on social media posts they are all keen to get back to work, so diminished numbers should not be a problem. Those who have not left Bangkok are already active on apps and for private massages. Bar owners have incurred at least 2-3 months of rent (perhaps some are still repaying bank loans) with no income. Does it make sense to reopen bars despite lack of tourists, and take on salary and operation costs on top of rent? As we all know, bars only make income from cover, drinks, and off fees.1 point

Actor Ken Osmond, who played Eddie Haskell on Leave It To Beaver, died today in Los Angeles at the age of 76. The NY Daily News reports: "Osmond’s character on the iconic 1950s sitcom was famous for falsely flattering adults in one scene and then scheming behind their backs in the next. He was so memorable in the role, he found it difficult to get other acting work when the beloved show that ran from 1957 to 1963 on CBS and NBC finally ended." Variety reports: Osmond portrayed Haskell as sycophantic to grownups while making fun of them behind their backs. He was a high school friend of Wally Cleaver, older brother of Theodore “the Beaver” Cleaver, and constantly trying to entice his friends into activities that would get them into trouble. During the final years of the show, Osmond was in the U.S. Army Reserve. When the series ended, Osmond continued working as an actor, appearing on “Petticoat Junction,” “The Munsters” and a return appearance on “Lassie.” He appeared in feature films “C’mon, Let’s Live a Little” and “With Six You Get Eggroll,” but found himself typecast as Eddie Haskell. Osmond joined the Los Angeles Police Department in 1970 and grew a mustache to be less recognizable. In 1980, Osmond was shot in a chase with a suspected car thief, though he was saved by his bulletproof vest. He was put on disability and retired from the force in 1988. I was a faithful fan of Leave It To Beaver and had a serious crush on Tony Dow, shown below with The Beaver:1 point

My new fantasy

I always make fan of friends who complain about the good old times, because all they are doing is showing that they are not aging well. Of course I am just venting to take out of my shoulders my own dinosaur gens. Tech and virtual socialization have been some of the challenges that I have taken with a good attitude but uneven outcomes, and where sometimes I surprise myself longing for the "old good times" when we cruised face to face and hooked up in bars, clubs, parks, and streets. Even when I am not skillful to navigate social settings, and appreciate many of the advantages of distant cruising, I do miss those times. I am here, sank in virtuality, reading how people all over the world is stampeding into re opened bars, and started to wonder what if this prolonged isolation triggers saturation? What if people walk out of the pandemic crisis sick of the screens and starving for face to face interaction? What if we have a Renaissance of face to face cruising and hooking up in bars, clubs, parks, and streets?1 point -
The Weekend started out as a Saturday night dinner, followed by a play at a nearby theater, then Sunday's pool event. Event? Well, Oliver was not allowed to have parties, so he had an event! Jason Carter added a Sunday night dinner at Tropicale which became quite popular. Then as the Weekend grew in popularity, and many resorts required multiple night stays, people arriving for the Weekend wanted something on Friday night, so unofficial events were added Friday, then on Thursday, briefly. Never say never. It could end up to be a weeklong affair, but I hope not. It's fine as it. Not that I have anything to do with it! Although if Oz goes again, or Axiom goes for his first visit, I may go too. Right now I would settle for a live escort in my bed this weekend. One keeps calling, name of CV. Not a good choice!1 point

I don't think bar owners will open their business immediately when it will be legal to do so if there are still restrictions on tourists arrival and the Corona situation all over the world is not clear yet .I assume bars will he fully operated not before the next high season on December 2020 .1 point

From Viet Nam News Foreigners stuck in country due to COVID-19 can stay until June 30 HÀ NỘI — Foreigners entering the country under visa waiver programmes, e-visas or tourism visas after March 1 will be automatically given stay permit extension until June 30 free of charge. The Immigration Department announced on Monday all stay permits for these people will be automatically extended and do not need to be renewed. This means from now until June 30, they can stay or leave the country without doing any paperwork. The move is aimed to help those stuck in the country due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Foreigners who entered the country before March 1 will also be considered for this permit extension as long as they can prove they cannot leave the country due to the pandemic. In these cases they need certification by their diplomatic mission in Việt Nam through an official diplomatic note with a translation in Vietnamese. Those who obtained documents from the Vietnamese authorities certifying that they have undergone quarantine or treatment for COVID-19 or are stuck here due to reasons beyond their control are also eligible for the stay permit extension.1 point

P.S. To requote from a Harold Bloom post somewhere in the Organ thread, ‘There are a billion Muslims on the planet now. There are at least a billion Christians. There are barely ten million self-professed Jews. If Yahweh exists, either He has been doing a very bad job, or something else has gone terribly wrong.’ Timely words for these troublous times. https://radioopensource.org/harold-bloom-jesus-and-yahweh/1 point

A Pattaya bar owner that I know (ST girlie bars), says that for him there is a big distinction between when he could legally open his bars again, and when it would be financially prudent to do so. He says he will make a judgement as to when sufficient tourists are arriving to make it financially viable to open again, but admits that could still be many months away. I am guessing boys bars will all be making similar calculations.1 point

I can understand that, but if you'll forgive some self-pitying, I and others are now at the stage in our lives where we haven't much more time to be with our loved-ones. I am very fit but even for me, the journey to Thailand becomes more difficult by the year and there will come a time, I fear, when it will be too much. My June trip is canceled and my October one threatened; those are experiences irretrievably lost. That's why I may be tempted into a trip later this year which, were I twenty or even ten years younger, I'd put-off until it was 100% safe in terms of the coronavirus....if that were possible.1 point
