I strongly recommend "Dark Blue Kiss". The main plot is gay and well written and acted. Also "TharnType the Series". If you can find "HIStory 3 -Trapped" from Taiwan. Watch it. Zhao is so cute!! Cheers!!!2 points

Spas, massage parlours make the next cut
floridarob and one other reacted to DivineMadman for a topic
Perhaps worth keeping in mind that businesses have been allowed to re-open -- but only under the "new normal" rules. Screening, social distancing, masks (duh), limitations on number of customers allowed in at any time, plexiglass dividers between tables, etc. (I assume everyone has seen the pictures). Barbers have to wear masks and shields. Some mainstream massage shops are already planning for that to be required. In China, Shanghai Disneyland is reopening and tickets sold out almost immediately. But there will be all the usual health precautions and more, and right now limited to only 30% of capacity. Personally I think this is being handled quite well by the Thai authorities. There will always be slip-ups and it will take some time for the real "now normal" to evolve, but they're good, small steps forward. Here's what we might expect from one of the better-known legit(-ish) massage places.2 points -
It certainly will take some time before tourism will start again. However, Bangkok and Pattaya will recover.Keep in mind that all infrastructure, like hotels and roads, is still there. That's the big difference with a war.1 point

Spas, massage parlours make the next cut

HUM but here in the USA the Big Box Stores like Walmart have been open, never closed. And people stand in line to get in, but once inside they socialize in groups. I was there this weekend and saw as many as 6 people all close together chatting in an aisle. And I did not feel it was an Extended Family shopping. So I do not have much faith that Malls in Thailand will be any better. Whole Foods has been much better and I feel safer shopping there!!1 point -
I realized it and it's why I hasted to explain my take of situation better. My first trip to Thailand was shortly after New York's 9/11 ( there's another one , Santiago de Chile's 9/11, 1973 ) taken against all advises and it worked very well so as soon as restriction are lifted I will be mounting Thai gay scene rescue mission, rest assured.1 point

don't read me wrong, I'm itching to go and help to lift Thailand's economy as soon as I can but reality is it doesn't make any sense to go if entry restrictions are not lifted. I even have a ticket already, useless as it is for now but Lufthansa says it will be usable all the way to Jun 2021. Of course if both me and airline will be still alive. Who wants to fly that far only to be forced to undergo quarantine of 2 weeks on arrival in Thailand and then again upon return do the same in the home country ? ( I'm not even entertaining an option on being subject of the same in point of transit , I can't fly directly from my home ) . That is thing which is holding me and countless others back1 point

Staying alone in Thailand. Do you ?
eurasian reacted to williewillie for a topic
Do you stay alone in your home country? Do you have a large network of friends, close family you see often? Is your religious organization, church, temple, mosque important to you? Some miss national spectator sports, sporting clubs ,bowling, golf, swimming, hiking ,bridge, poker group, casinos, etc. if you have nothing keeping you, and if you are lonely in your home country, try 6 months or so. Only you know your situation and only you can decide.1 point -
I can understand that, but if you'll forgive some self-pitying, I and others are now at the stage in our lives where we haven't much more time to be with our loved-ones. I am very fit but even for me, the journey to Thailand becomes more difficult by the year and there will come a time, I fear, when it will be too much. My June trip is canceled and my October one threatened; those are experiences irretrievably lost. That's why I may be tempted into a trip later this year which, were I twenty or even ten years younger, I'd put-off until it was 100% safe in terms of the coronavirus....if that were possible.1 point

The Organ

I am always surprised at how little Lovercraft is recognized in the USA (even Poe). I am sure it is a plot by the Ancients from the Underworld!1 point -
A trial period is essential. At least six months, preferably more. I considered it sixteen years ago when the pound was worth 73 bht. I'm pleased I remained in London and continued to travel for holidays, grateful that I could afford to do so. Returning to your question, one of the major issues for me was exactly what you mentioned. I only knew one expat (he has since died) and, to be blunt, the posts I read on a gay forum (not this one) suggested that I'd never fit in. Some of the attitudes were genuinely appalling to someone who has lived in a liberal, multi-cultural city all his life. I appreciate that this was not true of others but feared that expat life may not be for me. So you are right to take into account what sort of social life you'd have in Pattaya, as well as obvious things like finance, weather, health and the political situation, remembering that if you sell-up at home, you may find it financially problematical to return if things don't turn -out well.1 point

Of you can stand year round heat and you think you can go without family and friends in your home country I'd say try to stay at least one year and then you will see. Getting new friends can be fun. Don't burn any bridges at home until you decision is solid1 point

Was there some 2-3 yrs ago for a short while. Myself not that much interested in such types, so just general info. Manilla does have (had, no idea about how corona works out there) several gay saunaś and massageplaces, not so much anymore in the sentral/downtown area but in Quezon, which is a separate area but just part of the same mega-city. If there are any sauna;ś that would offer more in commercial offers I dk. I visited a msg place which works much the same as in BKK (which I visit very frequently since many yrs) or Pnom Penh- you select a masseur and once in the cubicle you make an arrangement for ´special extra´ services-which one generally does not in BKK (it just comes naturally there) and which/what/how muth etc. Do not expect (contrary to general description) that all Pinoy guys are fluent in english. I remember i choose from an ´aquarium´ where the guys stand behind a glass screen. If some of these shops specialise in your type of guy I also dk. On the old shamelessmack blog (part 1-now long ago) and on travelgaysia you can find reviews and listings. Most other postings etc i saw on the other well known fora recommend the usual moderntimes contact sites to make a selection. If youre still in doubt, also consider Bali/Indonesia.1 point

Agree...When I was more frequently visiting Pattaya, my hotel base was (and hopefully will be) The Poseidon in Jomtien. The hotel has no business, surprise, but has taken to feeding folks. They do this once or twice a week and provide 450+ meals each time. I've decided this is a good place to provide financial support. I haven't had a direct request from any of the guys I know though I have heard from many...they complan about the lack of work but are happy to away from Bangkok where the virus is...at least it is in their minds and they don't want another quarantine. Starting week 8 of the California lockdown.1 point

Do you Party?

And what does the answer mean? Would you turn down a stoned escort? If you are a top, and he is on crystal, well, aren't you in business? That's my understanding. I hate it when drugs take over a person's life, and if I thought the escort had serious problems that way, I wouldn't let him use drugs on my time.1 point
