  1. With respect I Totally disagree! All the guys know I am a American, that I live in SoCal, that I have a home in Mexico and not once have I been asked for higher rates or “American rates”! Now that maybe because I am known by a lot of the guys over the past 19 years and consistency plays a part! Actually I do not remember any asking what the rates are in the US! I think being consistent, not varying, makes for smooth business transactions. One thing everyone needs to remember is the Guys all talk about clients!! If they say they don’t they are lying! They talk about your preferences, what you enjoy most , what is the least they have to do if you are someone they don’t like personally, and What you will pay! For example, if I tell one guy I am coming to Rio on a certain date I guarantee within 72 hours I will get a minimum of a 1/2 dozen messages from different guys asking to meet up when I come to Rio. But you have to let them know in the beginning what you pay and if they want more, no hard feeling but good luck! I said this a number of times from 2001 - 2005, since then not one guy has discussed price with me! By word or reputation they know I am fair but not stupid and they respect theat! I have had drinks with the guys numerous times with them telling me hoe stupid this or that guy paid some amount way over what is the normal rate! I am not trying to argue with anyone else’s experiences just giving my 2 cents on what I have experienced / heard!’

  4. I agree with most of what everybody has commented on but everybody also needs to remember that your price is also quoted based on what you look like by some of the guys.... I know fat or out of shape or overly gross guys will be quoted higher prices in hopes they so no because its too much work... I have also seen/been given a better rate/lower rate based on how attractive you are to the sauna guys.... That is a huge variable when it comes to pricing...while there are set prices, it pays to be in shape, healthy, attractive, CLEAN, etc.

  5. Trump's way ahead of you, a spineless pussy as VP and a cabinet that have almost sucked the spray tan completely off his mushroom head aren't going to let that happen. Here's the difference though, if a Democrat had gone this far off the rails, say Biden does become senile, it would be Democrats who would line up to vote to remove him. Because, you know, the constitution and the country, not just something to SAY you support and defend. Your argument is exactly like the "Christians" who say stuff like "without god, what stops me from murdering and raping?" and the rest of us look on in horror as we can't imagine needing an imaginary friend to make us do good things by threatening endless brutal torment if we don't...

    Carnaval in Rio !

I simply cancelled my May flights (and will get refund from the airline) but I did not book anything. It is hard to foresee what is going to happen. In all cases as soon as the situation becomes clearer, it is obvious that the planes will not be full and prices might not be that high. I am concerned by the places which may go bankrupt because of an extended period without any income. I really wonder if Lions or Fragata will be open again some day, I have also a thought for all the boys who were working in the sauna and generally speaking the sexworkers who do not have any income for weeks now and maybe for many more weeks. I wonder how they survive. Coronavirus situation in Brazil seems to be out of control in some places. There were pictures of the he burying of corpses in the city of Manaus (certainly a proof that nor higher temperature nor high humidity makes the virus disappear). Officially, Brazil declared as of today 3704 cases, which I do not believe at all. It is clear that this does not take into account the people dying in favellas. In Manaus, the official figure of total number of deaths is 172. In the past 3 days, there were 340 burials ! In many cases, the causes of deaths are mentionned as "unknown" and therefore not taken in to account in the official figures of deaths linked to virus. Political situation seems to be difficult for Bolsonaro with regular pot-banging protests from Brazilians urging "Bolsonaro out", the firing of the Health Minister, the resignation of the justice minister Sergio Moro, after clashing with Bolso over the sacking of the head of Brazil Federal police, the problems in the favelas, ...

  10. I always pay the same price for the last several years! The guys in general are Not keeping tabs of various currencies and different exchange rates! I said this before “foreigners are not the majority of any saunas business, the guys prices stay in line with what their local customer’s can afford! The only time this has ever been a Issue is when a American or European or Canadian goes there to a sauna talking about how much more are you getting for dollars compared to the reale! Not something to be bragging about to sauna guys...IMHO

  13. Saturday I slept all morning and even part of the afternoon. Went out for a walk, but couldn’t find a masseur I really liked. Dinner buffet in Le Méridien hotel, which is expensive but really nice for a farang like me who is very picky on food. Many boys contacted me on Grindr. I noticed Rak, which I knew from previous visits, but does not work anymore as a gogoboy. He agreed to meet late in the evening. Nice to see him again. Visited Moonlight to start the evening. Too many Chinese with mouthmasks around me, and boys not really my type, so I left after 20 minutes. Went over to some bars on the first floor in front of Lucky Boys. Did not find the right boy, so went over to Lucky Boys again. Boy from yesterday evening recognized me, but I had decided to take different boy every evening during this short trip. During previous trips, I often had preferred one boy for several nights, but not this time. Number 1 in Lucky Boys tried to get a repeat off, but he as a dud when I offed him in his X-boys period, I ignored him. It took me a long time to make up my mind, as there are so many good looking boys. Mamasan came to sit next to me, so I gave her a tip when I had selected my boy. Once again a boy from Cambodia, who performed well. He really liked my room and made a lot of selfies. Even 3 months later, he still uses one on Grindr and another one on his Facebook. So nice to keep some connection with the boys on Facebook. Sunday Did not feel so inspired, so I went over again to the “super market of boys” Lucky Boys. Once again I noticed a very hot boy from Cambodia. I must say the quality of the boys in this bar is far above average I have seen in other bars in Bangkok or Pattaya. The boy turned out to be a great bottom, so tip well deserved. The evening is only starting, so I went to the soi with DJ Station, but didn’t like it over there. Came back to Screw Boys, noticed a younger Lao bottom and we went to my room. Not a top performer, but it was a great evening anyway. Monday Today is all dedicated to Viro, my all-time favorite boy from Battambang region. We met about 2 years ago when he was new at X-boys. Last year, we have spent a few days together in Poseidon hotel in Pattaya. We chat a few times a month on Facebook. He went back to school after returning to Cambodia, but came to BKK to meet me today and stay over until I leave for the airport tomorrow. He is the only boy I like so much he can stay all night. Otherwise I prefer to sleep alone. He really gives me a boyfriend experience. I am so happy to meet him again. I pay him for 2 days, as he has been travelling so far to meet me.

  14. As my business is now closed already for 6 weeks due to Covid-19, I am getting bored and take some time to write a report about my latest trip to LOS. During winter, some take a shortski for a long weekend. I don’t like that, so I have booked a 5 day 4 nights trip to Bangkok at the end of January: leaving on Thursday evening after office hours, taking an overnight flight to BKK arriving on Friday afternoon and leaving Tuesday morning and be home on Tuesday evening. Back in the office on Wednesday morning, only missing 3 work days. As I only have a direct flight with Thai leaving at noon and arriving at 6 AM in BKK, I had to take a connecting flight. Last year, I used Aeroflot through Moscow, but this time Finnair was the cheapest, only 505 EUR. The day before departure, I got an email from Finnair that my flight was overbooked and offering compensation for voluntary denied boarding. Didn’t react to it, as I was not sure which leg of my flight was overbooked. After my first flight to Helsinki, I got the same email for the second time. Looked at the departures in Helsinki and noticed there was a Finnair flight to Moscow, which would give a nice connection to the Aeroflot flight to BKK I used last year. Arrival difference in BKK was about 3 hours, and I would still have my full first evening. I volunteered, and had to choose between 300 EUR cashback on my credit card or a flight voucher of 500 EUR. Hesitated a bit, but choose the 500 EUR flight voucher valid for 1 year. 3 hours less in BKK, but probably my next trip for free… Friday evening As usual, I have booked a suite on the top floor of the Raya Surawong hotel. I really like that hotel and all the boys know it. It is so sad to see Soi Twilight closed, but I’m up to discovering the new bars. But first, I decide to go to Golden Cock bar. I am lucky and get into some hot action with 3 of the boys. I really like that they are so open to each other. I left happy and gave a nice tip to the 3 boys. Afterwards, I visited Lucky Boys, which I really like. Even when crowded, it feels like you have enough air to breed, as it has many seats and a very high ceiling. Mamasan from X-boys recognized me immediately. It is really a “supermarket of boys” as so many cute guys are on stage. Had a drink, watched a show, selected a boy and we went back to my hotel room. Boy was from Cambodia, would do everything and kept that promise. Gave him a well deserved tip when saying goodbye and added him on my Facebook. I stayed in bed and had nice dreams…

  15. Am I that transparent? lol The business in NA is definitely more like independent contractor and guys are likely to get together to discuss which clients are good and which are bad. With some practice and more observation, I think I should be able to get the hang out it!

In fact, that's what I do every day for a living. It's just that how to do it tastefully and politely in the local culture while not making it a long drawn out process. 20. This might get a lot of gay farang to start eating durian. Here's a report of the story in CNA. Thai durian stall manned by out-of-work gym owners as fitness rooms close Durians and shirtless hunks: It’s such a foolproof combination, you wonder why no one thought of it sooner. https://cnalifestyle.channelnewsasia.com/trending/thai-durian-stall-manned-by-gym-instructors-12676208 Actually, somebody did think of it sooner. Malaysian fitness model and instructor Jordan Yeoh did it way back in 2015. I've posted his pics here previously. Drool on, girls! https://sgag.sg/posts/this-handsome-and-muscular-malaysia-man-may-be-the-hottest-durian-seller-ever Colloquially, we call washboard abs "durian seeds" here coz of the resemblance. So if you hear a guy being described as having durian seeds, it means he is fit, with six-pack or even eight-pack abs.

  21. Yet, those who knock Biden forget who is in office now?? Same as all the liberties republicans are taking, stamping out freedoms, fucking with poor people...will make it easier for Democrats to do to the rich I understood people that WERE republicans in the past. We disagreed on many things, but I could understand their point of view. Then I know Republicans today that still have those same values and don't support Trump. I just can't understand people supporting Trump....maybe at the start, but now? But then again, I don't understand how people could be members of a cult.

  22. Unlike Argentina's, Brazil's culture is not U$S centered. In Argentina, prices do not match exactly currency exchange fluctuations, but if the dollar goes up, local prices follow. All prices, not only sex workers' fees. Besides, talking specifically about prostitution, as there is not a public market like Brazilian saunas, there are differentiated fees for local and foreign clients. Not in Brazil. However, I noticed that many Americans think that GPs are quoting them a different fee because they are Gringos. I think this misconception could be coming from not understanding a bargaining culture. In a Brazilian sauna, a GP will always quote a high price first to a new client, whatever your passport is. It is up to your mastering of the game to pay the price you want. I usually negotiate a price that is about 50 Rials above what local clients pay, but I could easily negotiate a lower price. Part of this negotiation is establishing empathy and connection. A likable potential client get better deals. Your nationality has really no weight in the price you pay in a sauna. If you do not know the game, you will overpay whether you are a local or a visitor.

    Trump's Liberation Push

It hardly needs saying: Clinton was impeached for lying about sex with a White House aide. Trump was impeached for illegally withholding Congressionally mandated financial aid, for purpose of personal political gain, to a national political ally coming under threat from their prime foe. To make any equivalence as you did is supremely irresponsible as a US citizen & patriot.

  28. Nope...unless the minimum wage doubles during the next months (impossible, it would take 12/15 years normally), and it would mean hyperinflaction, and again a even weakier currency. Escort prices are not excluded by the demand/supply law...especially in a market where the biggest share of customers is represented by the locals. Exchange rate only affects imported goods, and the gringo rates...so if there where boys asking 400 just becase a potential customer is a gringo, maybe there will be ones trying to ask 600 now. Why not? If one is so stupid to be willing to pay 4 to 6 times what he would have paid by offering a price (100/150 BRL) instead of asking it to a GdP... Chances are the programas will get cheaper because of the 2 following reasons: Lower demand...local sugar daddies will be less and less willing to pay as much as they did. Higher supply...many of the boys (enen their families) have temporary jobs, and most of them have "easy" minimum wage (1'040 reais/month) ones...many will become unemployed...more garotos de programa. It will suck from a human perspective....from a mean customer perspective it will be paradise. Never accept the gringo price, and never ask for the programa's price, for shit's sake. Make them a offer...100/150 saunas...200/300 internet (+ uber as a tip)

  29. That's good to know. However, my experience has at times been that as soon as they figure out you are a foreigner, they would give you a gringo price or say something like guys of their calibre could make 200-400 dollars in the states. I mean nothing wrong with negotiating, but doing it in a foreign language kinda takes all the fun out of the thing you are actually interested in.

  35. Well, it's because it turns out the constitution is completely toothless when a lickspittle traitor like Mitch controls the Senate too and encourages the president to fill all the executive positions with an endless string of spineless lackeys. And when one resigns in disgust ("you're fired!") they don't ask anything or take the warning, they just confirm somebody even less qualified... We're quickly entering the part of this bad movie where I start to think, the leader (usually a General or Colonel) is obviously making things worse, he's cost tens of thousands of lives, you have a sidearm and a conscience, possibly an oath to the constitution, do the world some good, he's fucking twirling his mustache for christsakes...

    Maybe We Don't Travel

Flying in Covid19 airspace -- Articles in various Thai media begin to provide insight into what flying will be like, domestically at least. According to one report, no international carriers have expressed interest in resuming flight to date. From The Nation Domestic flights resume May with strict conditions If provinces where tourist destinations are located start lifting their restrictions next month, then airlines will be allowed to resume domestic flight services but only under strict conditions. So far, Air Asia is the only airline that has indicated it will resume flights on May 1, while Lion Air has said it will wait for the government’s decision on whether or not to extend the state of emergency. Some government officials have signalled that a few restrictions may be eased though the state of emergency may be extended beyond April 30. ====================================================================================================== From Khaosod English Domestic Flight Fares May Increase By 80% BANGKOK — As domestic commercial flights are set to resume in May, ticket prices could nearly double following the Thai Civil Aviation Authority’s new regulations for fare calculations. Chula Sukmanop, director of the aviation regulator, said domestic airlines will be allowed to charge up almost twice the fare implemented prior to the coronavirus pandemic, since many seats will be left empty to ensure physical distancing. Prior to the outbreak, domestic low-cost airlines usually charged no more than 5 baht per kilometer for a flight within the kingdom. But the new regulation will permit them to charge up to 9.40, approximately an 80 percent increase.

  38. Putting a smile on someone's face always brings me pleasure. Nope! Not for me. I can never just "do the deed." No McDonald's. No Dunkin' Donuts. I've spent way too much time in the grandest coffee houses of Europe. I tried very hard to invest in my favorite cafe in Rome, and I'm sorry to say the owners turned me down and that very special business creation eventually went under. Like I said, drinking exquisite coffee for me is a ritual. Only once a day at breakfast. If I have to travel to dreadful fly-over states on business, I always take my own beans. For me, cruising has its place. It's a question of manners and respect. And I'm pretty strict about this. If I am alone, I feel free to cruise at any moment, if I trust the man I'm cruising is also alone. If I share company with another man and our intention is to engage in conversation, my eyes are on his, and I prefer no wandering, no distractions. I will not share my table with someone on the prowl, or with someone's gaze stuck on his cell phone Grindr pages. That is not gay behavior I tolerate. Ever. I get that some guys are horny all the time. They're always on the prowl no matter the time or the place. I do what I can to avoid gay men like that. Back in my youthful days as a tall, blond twink in West Hollywood, I did the gay coffee shop Queen cruising scene at breakfast. I was young, selfish, and tacky. I have since grown up. I sincerely doubt you have me beat in this department. I have a long career interviewing professional male models, and that career has not ended. I, too, am a voyeur. But I prefer to respect manners and boundaries, especially if I'm sharing a coffee moment with a friend or companion.

    Goodbye Lonely Planet

From CNN The wild story behind Lonely Planet's first Thailand guidebook By Joe Cummings Editor's Note — Joe Cummings created the very first Lonely Planet Thailand guide, which was published in the early 1980s. As the famous travel brand begins shuttering its offices, Cummings reflects on his decades-spanning career as a guidebook writer. (CNN) — The recent news that Lonely Planet Publications was shutting down its production offices in Melbourne and London almost entirely, and totally eliminating its widely admired magazine and all non-guidebook titles, didn't take me completely by surprise. With planes grounded, borders closed and people staying home all over the world in response to the Covid-19 health crisis, any business associated with travel and tourism is on its knees at this point. Still, having been a Lonely Planet guidebook author for 25 years, I feel it. I watched the company grow from a fledgling two-person start-up in the 1970s to an empire with more than 500 office staff on four continents. In the 1990s, when I was visiting LP's headquarters in Melbourne two or three times a year, a steady climb in sales and production forced the company to shift to a larger location three times. Thus for me, and I'm sure for many others who grew up hopping the globe with dog-eared guidebooks close at hand, the closure of Lonely Planet's original headquarters signals the end of an era. In my life, that era kicked off when I first read "Southeast Asia on a Shoestring" while on my way to work in Thailand as a Peace Corps volunteer in 1977. Nicknamed "the yellow bible" by its legion of devotees, the rustic guide was written by the UK's Tony Wheeler, who together with his Irish wife Maureen, created their DIY imprint four years earlier after finishing an overland journey from London across Asia to Australia. Their stapled-together "Across Asia on the Cheap," complete with hand-drawn maps, sold 1,500 copies on street corners down under. Each chapter was devoted to a different country in Southeast Asia, and although the info was skimpy, and the maps barely usable, I was nevertheless impressed that someone had actually done it. Born to a traveling military family who lived in Europe, I was used to the "F" guides -- Fodor's, Fielding and Frommer's -- which for the most part stuck to well-trod itineraries in Europe, North America and Japan. Established during the early post-WWII era, these guides were geared towards people like my parents, who carried bulky suitcases and traveled by private car. Writing about how to travel in developing countries via local bus and train, Lonely Planet was very underground by comparison, for the time. When I finished my assignment in Thailand and was preparing to travel home by way of India and Nepal, I checked Bangkok bookshops to see if Lonely Planet had published anything more on these countries other than brief chapters in their out-of-print "Across Asia on the Cheap." There was nothing available on either place yet, but while browsing the shelves, I discovered just-released Lonely Planet titles on Myanmar and Sri Lanka. I bought both, and read them cover-to-cover while traveling through the subcontinent (I didn't actually visit either country till later, as a Lonely Planet author on assignment). Avoiding culturally insulated travel Back in the States, I started writing for The Asia Record, a San Francisco-area newspaper dedicated to Southeast Asian affairs in the wake of the US-Vietnam War and fall of Cambodia, Vietnam and Laos. I also enrolled in a master's program at the University of California at Berkeley, where I wrote a thesis on tourism as seen through the eyes of communist insurgencies in Thailand and Malaysia. One day in late 1980, I sat down, fed a blue aerogram into my electric typewriter, wrote out a proposal for a "Lonely Planet Thailand" guide, and mailed it directly to Tony Wheeler. Within a few weeks, Tony wrote back and said that coincidentally he was looking for someone to do a guide on Thailand, and since LP was expanding, he didn't have time to do one himself. At his request, I sent him a writing sample that followed the Sri Lanka guide template and focused on Ko Sichang, an island off the coast of Sri Racha that I'd visited several times while living in Bangkok in the late '70s. As far as I knew, no one had ever published anything about the island in English before. Tony's second response came quickly, offering $9,000 to create the first edition of Thailand -- a travel survival kit. I had to pay my own air fare and expenses, but as it turned out I simultaneously received a paid fellowship from Berkeley to carry out field studies, so I rolled the two projects into one trip during the spring of 1981. I hit the ground running. It was an exciting moment for me, since the book I was researching would become the first English-language guide devoted entirely to Thailand since "Guide to Bangkok with Notes on Siam," published by the State Railway of Siam in 1928. Although there were a couple of French and German guides, they were very much geared towards hiring your own car and driver and staying in first-class hotels along the way, much like Fodor's and other mainstream guides. Continues at https://www.cnn.com/travel/article/joe-cummings-lonely-planet-thailand/index.html
