I think that, unlike many of his peers, he was motivated by love not hate. He also wrote in his autobiography that he had basically no interest in the arguments among what he called “different ecclesiastical systems,” i.e., various Christian denominations major and minor. He went even further on a few occasions into the universality of God, such as once saying, “I have met many Buddhists who live a far more Christ-like life than some of our professed Christian brothers and sisters.”2 points

Schock continues to shock. The latest is a photo of him with other fit men partying in Mexico. Some consider it tone deaf given the coronavirus. But those guys sure are fit, even if one of them can't spell quarantine! https://www.nydailynews.com/coronavirus/ny-coronavirus-aaron-schock-mexico-resort-quarantining-instagays-20200415-k7s42zrvjfdezdtxfwasxfrmne-story.html2 points

"Gerontophilia"

Actually, I was not responding. I did not want to open a new thread, searched for the title of the movie, and this post showed up. No Twilight Zone explanation.2 points -
I thought I would post together some suggestions rather than create separate threads for them. I love to surf the internet, and find many things I like to share here. But it's not "The Lucky Pub" so I don't want to have too many threads with my name on them. (Someone will no doubt tell me when there are too many!) My first one I will title BUZZ AND TOMMY- What's The True Story? It comes from the several websites. A picture of two very handsome guys, perhaps taken around 1949... So, what's the story? Were they lovers? Is it a good-bye note, perhaps at the end of summer? Your guess is as good as mine. Blogger Andy Towle posts some suggestions and invites yours: https://www.towleroad.com/2020/04/life-guards-buzz-tommy/1 point

When we first saw that sexy shot of anti-gay Congressman Aaron Schock's tight abs, folks speculated that he was gay. Of course the Republican congressman denied it, and continued to deny it even after he left Congress under murky circumstances. Now, five years later, he has come out of the closet. The NY Daily News has his statement: https://www.nydailynews.com/news/national/ny-anti-gay-ex-congressman-aaron-schock-comes-out-as-gay-himself-20200306-ayrqxj2zarfhtavdd7h7horxsy-story.html For a number of reasons, it is not a huge surprise as he was seen last year tipping a male stripper at a Mexican bar: https://nypost.com/2020/03/05/disgraced-ex-rep-aaron-schock-comes-out-as-gay/1 point

Brazilian Saunas
SolaceSoul reacted to davet for a topic
My thoughts on this perennial question above: 1. The Brazilian saunas are a bit off the regular spectrum of human experience so that the usual dichotomies (transaction v. affection, gay v. straight) might not completely apply. I think most of the guys are a combination of everything. A sugar-daddy starts blending in with being a "good provider," which has traditionally been an accepted expectation and foundation of "real" relationships. An Argentine once told me some guys are just "gatitos" - little kittens that ask for a little of this and a little of that from somebody who can obviously and easily give a little of this and a little of that. Nothing too wrong with that, was the implication. 2. As for tesa~o, which I guess means sexual energy or horniness, again, these guys are not normal civilians! I've met some who I swear probably have tesao for trees and couches. A couple times, a guy climaxed with me without my asking and without asking for extra money, as they usually do. When I think back, those were end of the evening engagements, when they were going home afterward. They worked up that tesao all night, but they released it with me for their own benefit. Is that natural or unnatural tesao? 3. I never tried to pursue anything long term, because I am more about variety (and maybe ADD). However, there were a handful that, I thought, could have been an interesting guy to have around the house for a while. There was one guy I thought actually had some intriguing "depth." His body was not "up to my standards" but he literally seduced me with a great, look-deep-into-my-eyes chat beforehand. He was the only one I exchanged Whatsapp numbers with and we shared a funny text chat one late evening in November 2016 that began with "If Trump wins this thing, I'm moving to Brazil" and ended with "Oh shit." A couple months after that, however, he asked for money to go visit his parents. I've never written back since. So you see, I'm as wary and cynical as anybody. It was a small amount he asked, but I figured it always starts that way. Looking back, though, I could imagine having something longer-term and not completely transactional with this guy. 4. Going forward (if there will be a forward), I think I would open myself up more for something like this and tolerate a bit of "gatito" and see where it goes. If it turns unsatisfactory, you can break it off. Looking back, there were a few prime candidates.1 point -
CIRCUS of BOOKS Movie on Netflix Out on April 22d...the bookstore itself closed in 2017. This LA bookstore closed in 2017. It was very popular. I was once a big fan...but a movie about it? I guess I'd like to see it! Here's an article about the closing: https://www.boyculture.com/boy_culture/2017/06/circus-of-books-the-final-chapter.html There was an art exhibit devoted to it: https://www.boyculture.com/boy_culture/2019/03/the-circus-is-coming-to-town-a-review-of-circus-of-books-at-fierman.html1 point

A sphincter-themed movie is available today on itunes and Amazon. Butt Boy sounds like it will be a national hit...or maybe not. "Detective Fox loves work and alcohol. After going to AA, his sponsor, Chip, becomes the main suspect in his investigation of a missing kid. Fox also starts to believe that people are disappearing up Chip's butt." See the review in today's LA Times: https://www.latimes.com/entertainment-arts/movies/story/2020-04-13/butt-boy-review1 point

From Khaosod English ‘Not Enough Money,’ Prayut Slashes 3-Month Relief Program BANGKOK — Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha on Wednesday said the government may be able to pay only one month of the promised three-month cash relief package for workers affected by the coronavirus epidemic. The government had earlier planned to give 5,000 baht cash handout to temporary, contract, and self-employed workers who are not covered by the social security system for three consecutive months, beginning this April. Officials also said the program might even be extended for six months, if the pandemic does not subside. But speaking to the media after the Cabinet meeting this afternoon, Prayut said the government is struggling to secure funding for the next round of handouts. “I feel sympathetic and sorry for the people,” Prayut said. “I have to admit that the government had initially planned to allocate the 50 billion baht budget to help three million people for three months.” He went on, “But since more than 9 million people signed up for the program, the government could only give it for one month to cover all affected people.” PM Prayut said he will propose slashing 10 percent of each ministerial budget and pushing a 1 trillion baht loan bill into the parliament to help top up funding for the program. However, he does not expect these solutions to arrive any time soon. Continues at https://www.khaosodenglish.com/politics/2020/04/15/not-enough-money-prayut-slashes-3-month-relief-program/0 points
