  2. I'm in Sp with a planned flight to Rio on Thursday.....the way the airlines are going (azul cxl'd 1 flt so I booked a different one) I'm not sure how long United will keep their flights? I read that A/A cxl'd all long haul flights except for 3 routes. https://onemileatatime.com/american-airlines-cuts-international-flights-by-75/ Everytime I wake up , there are more extreme closures happening. I wouldn't come, if you make it who knows if you'll get stranded. Airlines are going to be looking for a bailout and they say it will be easier to get if the government "forces" them to ground all their planes for a bit vs them to do it willingly. I'm pissed because airlines are waiving change fees but still want to charge fare differences

Thanks. I can certainly understand why he is popular with farang. The way he smiles, acts and moves with confidence/attitude on stage is very appealing to me. Regardless of age, I would choose him in heatbeat before Arm or Mekhin. Actually, I prefer an experienced and confident guy in his 30's rather than a 18-20y old dude, and certainly if still hot/got the look and body like this guy we are talking about; but that is just my own personal preference... (and before anyone makes the comment: yes, I realise that Mr Mekhin also fits the description, but he is not 'my cup of tea' despite being friendly and with confident attitude on stage, sorry).

  5. some more surprising news tonight from Patpong: While the gogo bars will of course be closed as expected from tomorrow (Dreamboys was already closed), Hot Male beer bar will stay open. Presumably that's because it is outside and not an enclosed space.

  6. I cancelled my trip last night. UK Government is today advising against all foreign travel - I think to avoid people being stranded overseas as repatriation flights may not be available. Airbnb allowed me to cancel no problem. Lufthansa I think allowed me to cancel and obtain full refund... was impossible to get through to customer services via telephone so used online portal.... keeps checking credit card to see it refunded! Have heard guys are avoiding foreigners, particularly Europeans, and everywhere is closing down. I hope it doesn't hit Brazil and its economy too bad. Hopefully we can return later in the year.

  9. Bolsonaro slams virus 'hysteria' as Brazil confirms first death President Jair Bolsonaro condemned what he called "hysteria" over the coronavirus pandemic Tuesday, as Brazil confirmed its first death and Sao Paulo and Rio de Janeiro declared a state of emergency. Flying in the face of mounting global alarm over the pandemic, the far-right president lashed out at containment measures he said would hurt the economy. "People are acting like it's the end of the world," he said in an interview with Radio Tupi. The economy was doing well, but now some governors are taking measures that are really going to hurt it... It's not like having groups of people here and there is the problem. What we need to do is reduce the hysteria." Bolsonaro has sparked controversy with his response to the pandemic. He had already drawn criticism for shaking hands and taking selfies with supporters at a rally Sunday, ignoring the recommendation of his own health ministry, which said he should remain in isolation for two weeks after being exposed to several officials who tested positive for COVID-19. His latest comments came after the South American country confirmed its first COVID-19 fatality: a 62-year-old man with diabetes and high blood pressure who died Monday in Sao Paulo, authorities said. "Unfortunately, this shows how severe this pandemic is, despite what some would like to believe," Sao Paulo Mayor Bruno Covas told CBN radio. - Landmarks closed - The emergency measures in Rio included closing the iconic Christ the Redeemer statue and the cable car to Sugarloaf Mountain, two of the city's most famous attractions. Sao Paulo granted city authorities the right to requisition goods needed to contain the virus from businesses if necessary. Rio ordered restaurants to reduce the number of tables by 70 percent to increase distance between patrons, closed stores in shopping malls and halved the number of public transport vehicles in circulation, calling on people to remain home when possible. On Friday, the state had already closed schools, theaters and cinemas for at least 15 days. Rio Governor Wilson Witzel has also ordered people off the city's beaches. The federal government meanwhile announced 147 billion reals (nearly $30 billion) in emergency spending to fend off the economic impact of the pandemic. - 'Crime against public health' - Brazil -- the biggest country in Latin America, with 210 million people -- has confirmed 291 coronavirus cases, concentrated in Sao Paulo and Rio. Health officials are working to convince the population to take the threat seriously, but some Brazilians remain skeptical -- not least Bolsonaro. The man dubbed a "Tropical Trump" has at times caused outrage with his response to the pandemic, both politically and personally. He tested negative for the virus last week, news he announced on Facebook accompanied by a photo of himself making an obscene gesture. But under health ministry protocol, he needs further testing to confirm the result, and is supposed to remain in isolation in the meantime. He took a second test Tuesday and is awaiting the result. Influential Sao Paulo state lawmaker Janaina Paschoal called on him to resign. The president's decision to defy health authorities and participate in Sunday's rallies by his supporters was "a crime against public health," she said. "The president does not seem to be taking the outbreak seriously," newspaper Estado de Sao Paulo said in an editorial. Bolsonaro was unfazed, saying in his radio interview that he would hold a "small party" to celebrate his 65th birthday Saturday, even though health experts have recommended against such gatherings. "Life goes on," he said. Shop sellers wear masks in the Brazilian city of Sao Paulo, where a state of emergency has been declared over the coronavirus pandemic Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro has come under fire for taking selfies with supporters at a rally, even after his own aides recommended he remain in isolation

  11. I am not sure that all young people can overcome the virus easily. Of course they can do better than older persons. From European experience, there are many deaths including in the younger population and 50% of people in extensive care units are less than 60 years old.

  12. This is indeed crazy. I was in Pointe last Saturday and it was not crowded at all. Sunday was my last day in Rio and I did not go to sauna. I am glad to be back home. The perception of virus by garotos is funny. I stopped shaking hands in Pointe last saturday. 2 garotos understood and we only touched our elbows. But when they left, both kissed me on the mouth ...

  13. The young healthy garotos can easily overcome the coronavirus themselves, but can pass on the virus to customers. Older people are more vulnerable to develop serious complications if infected. Now, you can decide if you fall into the "older people" category :-)

  16. Play by ear is certainly OK, hope springs eternal. Airbnb is refunding even strict cancellation tier in Brazil. Pay attention to their window of dates. Similarly, airlines are flex now but may eventually expect folks to use common sense rather than rescue them from committed expenditures ... again, the allowances are date-bookended.

  17. In other words, loosely translated ... we at 202 heartily accept your club fees and overall patronage, you can only transmit Covid19 if overtly symptomatic, do not share glasses or other personal objects, cocks and other body parts are exempt from ‘personal object’ classification ... it is only, for example, distal saliva say on a shared straw that poses a risk, we hope for a speedy recovery if you get this run-of-the-mill flu that will not hurt your older loved ones when infected, and if you are a beloved gringo tourist it is worth coming to Brazil for sauna fun and sex though your country may have no means to mitigate more severe circumstances that befall you ... dearest clients, on a scale of sinus cold to 9/11, this is a skinned knee ... why make such a big deal of it .. . You are not in China or Italy here ... listen to your ex-GdeP current broker ersatz epidemiologist/virologist. ——/ Stupid is stupid, ignorance is terrifying. Another example:

  19. From Los Angeles Times After a rare mass shooting in Thailand, something just as unusual: Therapy BANGKOK, Thailand — When a soldier went on a shooting rampage at a mall in northeastern Thailand last month, Ponglert Supatwanich and his 17-year-old son survived by hiding in a post office for six hours. Though shaken in the aftermath, he did not think about seeing a therapist. But help came to him, turning the 55-year-old hotel owner into a believer in mental health treatment in the Buddhist “land of smiles,” where experts say lingering stigmas around psychological treatment stop many from seeking professional help. “In Thailand people don’t want to go to a psychologist. If you go, it means you are crazy,” he said in an interview weeks after the Feb. 8 rampage that left 29 people dead in and around the Terminal 21 mall in the city of Korat. “We don’t express our feelings to each other.” In their modern history, Thais have endured coups, violent street protests, army crackdowns and natural disasters. But the mall shooting was widely seen as unprecedented, an anomaly that forced national reflection. Authorities said a 31-year-old soldier, angered by a property deal gone awry, shot at least one person on a military base near Korat, raided a weapons depot and stole a Humvee, and then opened fire at a temple and the nearby shopping mall where he picked off fleeing shoppers. Thai police and soldiers cornered him in a lower floor of the mall, shooting him dead several hours after the siege began. Americans may have grown inured to the details of such attacks, but Thais were transfixed by images of candlelight vigils and emergency responders, by criticism of social media platforms after the shooter live-streamed parts of the attack, and by the failure of the political establishment to push for gun control reforms. Once the media glare died down, a group of healthcare practitioners studying art therapy in Bangkok traveled to Korat to speak with survivors. They did not know what the response would be, but dozens of people showed up to the hastily assembled, two-day project in late February, where they sat for sessions, drew pictures and took part in therapeutic drum circles. “First we thought people would say, ‘Oh it’s odd,’” said professor Bussakorn Binson, dean of the faculty of fine and applied arts at Bangkok’s Chulalongkorn University, who helped organize the sessions. “But so many people came, we had to do double work.” Bussakorn, an ethnomusicologist better known as Jane, has for several years collaborated with an Israeli professor, Rachel Lev-Wiesel of the University of Haifa, to organize arts therapy training courses and publish research. Next year, they plan to launch Thailand’s first graduate degree in creative art therapy at Chulalongkorn University. 22. When they set up the most recent COVID-19 Command Center with Uncle Tu (Gen Prayut) in charge, they of course didn't disband any of the others, bringing the current total to three. Plus the Cabinet has final say on many matters. And then various ministers and spokespeople do things like announce "decisions" or "recommendations" on personal Facebook and twitter.

From Khaosod English Trade Chief Resigns Over Mask Hoarding Scandals BANGKOK — The head of the Internal Trade Department resigned on Monday amid allegations that he colluded with the hoarding and profiteering of millions of sanitary masks. Whichai Phochanakij submitted his resignation just hours after the government abruptly removed him from office and transferred to an inactive post. In an interview with reporters, he maintained he had nothing to do with the alleged stockpiling and sales of 200 million face masks to China. “On the bright side, this is a good thing to do because I worked so hard that I had to undertake a brain surgery once,” Whichai said. He continued, “But what really hurt me is that people believed in fake news more than reality. I confirm that the stockpiling of those 200 million face masks doesn’t exist because the current production capacity takes four months to reach that number. Therefore, you will never find it because it doesn’t exist.” His transfer was signed yesterday by PM Prayut Chan-o-cha, who said in the order that it is aimed “to build confidence among people.” Prior to his removal from the office, Whichai was at the center of a controversy relating to the acute shortage of face masks in Thailand, which have since come under oversight of the department. https://www.khaosodenglish.com/politics/2020/03/16/trade-chief-resigns-over-mask-hoarding-scandals/

    Saunas

I agree with you Londoner about the price of entry for young Thais, but I think there could be another factor. I have sometimes mentioned the Sansuck Sauna to boys that I gave offed but have found that they were not aware of its existence and the possibilities for them. In the gay bars and gogos I do not recall ever seeing advertising material promoting it. Saunas, bars, gogos and the gay beach concessions could work together to foster a more vibrant gay scene in Bkk, Pattaya and the other resorts.

  28. I suspect Trump's brain-dead fanboys will not realize or investigate The Lincoln Project. They will assume Democrats are behind this. Everything about that crowd is SIMPLE. They don't think too deeply. They also hate the Republican establishment, so it can be a lose-lose. Even so, I love a great ad. With Trump, you must fight fire with fire. There's no other way to beat a TROLL, and it really is too bad. Death can sometimes take too long when you're trying to better things. Trump's attacks on Hunter Biden, which appear to be totally manufactured for scandal, much like Bengazi and Ukraine, must be met with equal force. If not, his gift for branding, no matter how fake, will stick. I am delighted that former and current Republicans are putting their time and money behind this important project. The blind lovers, no. That's the ugly and dangerous side of cult-of-personality. But many people who voted for Trump held their nose while doing so. I'm for anything that encourages them to smell his shit, full stop. Deep breath. It would show FEAR out in public, and Trump hates that. The fan base would hate it, too. I'm not willing to make that bet. Trump thinks/believes that he can take down the old-man Biden. He wants to believe that Biden is not stable. Much like his body weight, Trump is in denial about his age and prowess. Trump's hubris could easily carry him to any debate stage. I can't wait to see his mouth go dry and his upper lip sweat. Trump is no different than Rubio with the water bottle. Both of them pussies.

Somewhere I read that the suspicion on the exorbitantly high pricing at the private hospitals was that those hospitals really don't want the hassle of COVID-19 patients, so they are using the high pricing to deter people from going there.

  30. I don't really care about this one event. However, I do not understand why anyone in their right mind would travel or get into a gathering with people who do travel. I am not a doom and gloom kind of guy. But, I have no desire to go to a party, event, etc. in the USA or abroad right now. I have not been to a mall in 6 weeks or so and all my shopping is done online. I love movies but will not be going for the immediate future. There are precautions that we all must either take or know the risks. If others want to meet and play, that is their call as an adult. I just prefer not to be a part of it.

  32. I have not been to the bars recently and will not go. I do not wish to put myself or others at risk. It would make perfect sense to close all the bars and IMHO a good move to help contain things. This is not going away and to not minimize the risks seems reckless. It is the role of government to protect. I do think more stringent measures will be placed on all entering Thailand in the coming days and more closures will be announced.

  38. Dr. Drew exclaims here that people are overreacting about COVID-19, and should just listen to CDC and Dr. Fauci, instead of journalists (who, incidentally, interview Fauci and CDC officials). Well, Dr. Fauci has made it clear that Americans are not taking this pandemic and the risks seriously enough, and has sounded the alarm that it is going to get much worse in the USA before it gets better. CDC officials have stated that the discouragement or outright outlawing of gatherings of 50 persons or more recommendation given by the Trump administration is not going far enough to reduce or slow down the spread, and that a better recommendation (even a temporary mandatory requirement) would be no gatherings or events of more than 10 persons. About 375 people in Italy are dying of COVID-19 each week. In Spain, it’s almost reached 300 weekly. These countries each have about only 1/5th the population of the United States. How was that helpful to listen to?
