Tuesday in 117 Started slow since there was a soccer game with Flamengo and people came after the game. But the place became soon packed. Around 8 pm, I counted more than 150 persons in the bars, corridors, saunas, changing rooms + the persons in the 20 rooms or so i.e. altogether around 200 persons present !! It was Ramiro's (big manager) birthday and a big party was to be held. The famous ratio boy/customer was certainly close to 1 on an average during the evening. My personnal indicator which counts the absolute number of boys met during the whole time I was in the club and whom I would be happy to have a session with, was above 20 ! There were many many boys in 117 yesterday but many left around 7.30 pm to go to ... Lion's which is just around the corner. The reason is that there was a lotery in Lion's with possibility to win an iphone. I was in SP on business and went to Lagoa last Friday and Sunday. It certainly is much smaller than the original but all in all I think the layout and space utilization are well done. The place has a modern club like look and I appreciate the thought put into the materials and finishings used. Yes there are stairs and ramps but they are all wide with hand rails and the step hights are reasonable, especially for the more elderly clients... I found plenty of boys on both nights with a pretty good mixture of sizes, colors, and ages. Looked pretty much like the old Lagoa type boys. The suites were clean with showers and excellent sheets and pillows. I will certainly be a client on my frequent trips to SP. Imho... in recent years ... with cell phones...the best boys were never to be found in the saunas. Wow, 10 days ago already and noone answered. Cannot give any rec from myself, but you will be spoilt for choice, that is, at least in the touristy parts of BKK-big city. Prices vary (a lot) and do not reflect any better experience-as with about anything here in TH. They reflect nicer and shinier and thus more costly surroundings. But I´ve seen many with advertised prices in roughly the 3-700 Thb range for such parts. IF the place advertises in gay media or so, add a few 100 extra just for this and do not expect anything better treatment, but more handsome guys to do the job. FRankly, I think its just as massage: its just a lotteree and you dont knwo what you get untill its done. It might be an awfully long ago well-trained (and thus likely beyond prime years) older lady or someone fresh on the job without a clue what to do. (I once was surprised that whithin a down market Thai ex-dept.store turned into a shopping paradise some 20 kms away from Silom, there was such a shop also advertsing ´bum crack´ in its pricelist with brazil wax for I think it was 300 bt.

Last Word: The more change na, the more same same This trip to Bangkok has given me so much to think about, and so much more to look forward to. I was expecting a lot, since the demise of Soi Twilight, and the change of venue to "straight-land", so I was surprised on how unchanged everything seemed to be, but how seemingly changed it also is at the same time. There are things that are just gone forever, but at the same time replaced with something else. I could not put my finger on it just yet, but it is just a different Bangkok that I discovered this trip. Some musings: The Cost This is just true for the bars and boys I’ve visited this trip: I was surprised on how standardized the pricing for short time and long time is. Almost all the bars and boys and mamasans who talked about it quoted me standard pricing: 2000 baht for short time, and 3000 baht for long time. Except for the Moonlight models of course. I guess this makes things fairly simple for newcomers and experts alike, standard pricing makes it fair for everyone. I can understand the likes of Mekhin will fetch a little bit more, but I guess this takes away the element of negotiating that is inherent in Asian venues, especially the markets like Chatuchak. What would cheap charlies do now? The Money I completely forgot about this when I arrived in Bangkok for this trip, but after getting money from the ATM for the first time since June 2018, I was reminded that the current King is a relatively new one, judging from the new face staring back at me when I counted the money coming out of the ATM. I understand that these new banknotes were first introduced in April 2018, but this was first time seeing the new banknotes with Rama X on it. I’ve always thought that having different colors to signify different values in the money is smart. Compare that to the drab green and black that is present in all of the US dollar banknotes, making them indistinguishable from one another, especially for a newcomer or tourist paying up in dark venues like bars. Thai money reminds me of Brazil’s banknotes, which came in similar hues as Thailand’s. The Bars There is no denying it: I kinda miss Soi Twilight. I kind of liked how special it was, having a specific Soi devoted to the gays. It was almost like a protective enclave, where one is free to express oneself in the confines of a cul-de-sac. I guess now Soi 4 can claim this mantel, a generally gay-exclusive Soi, although obviously it has not reached Soi Twilight heights just yet. I guess it shouldn’t matter, as a lot of people escape to Bangkok to let their hair down, and trying to be oneself in Patpong shouldn’t be more challenging than it was in Twilight, but still, the sense of camaraderie one felt in Twilight is the sensation that I miss. It is gone forever. Time to move on. But the later hours, closing at 2 AM versus midnight to 1 AM, is a welcome change. I was able to do more and thrive with the extended hours. Before, I would have to lean on Screwboys for my late night follies. Now, Freshboys and Luckyboys, among the others, have given me the late night threesomes that is a marked improvement to the boy nightlife. A very big improvement. The Boys I am glad to note that the boys are still same same. They are still sweet, they are still sexy as hell, and they still remain the centerpiece of my Bangkok trips. On the way to airport, discussing with the uber driver, I understood what had happened. On thursday, 5 uber and 99 (other app similar to uber) drivers were called to a communidade (favella). It was a trap and 4 of them were tortured and killed. The 5th managed to escape. This action is supposed to be in retaliation of the fact that the mother of a drug dealer was sick and was to go to hospital, but no taxi or uber or 99 driver accepted the ride. So friday uber drivers demonstrated in Salvador to demand increased safety and blocked the main avenues. Many cars even until sunday were painted with the word "luto" (mourning) on the glasses. While looking for the criminals, police investigated the favela and killed 2 criminals (one of them supposedly involved in the crime) and one innocent ... Terrible and sad story

Clube 11 As mentionned elsewhere on the forum, the clube is a little difficult to find fir uber drivers since it is at 11 rua Jose Duarte but house next door is 86, rua Jose Duarte. Best might be to put as destination : 86 rua Jose Duarte (next door to Clube) or 87 as it is the building just in front of Clube 11. We were pretty excited by the election of Mister Clube 11 which was to take place at 8.30 pm the same night. We arrived around 5.30 pm and there were around 12 boys. More joined later. Fairly quick and they accepted my check-in luggage, and they pointed me to immigration. I told them I was going to say goodbye to my friend first so I’ll be back in 20 minutes. Because of the speed of the taxi, I had some time to accompany Cambodia to the Airport Rail Link, so he can get back to Sathorn where he lived. He offered to carry the back pack I was left carrying, since my luggage was already on its way to the plane, but I told him he didn’t have to help me the whole time. We get to the bottom floor where the turnstiles for the train were. I didn’t feel a sense of loss with saying goodbye to Cambodia, as I did previous boys BurBoy and MonBoy, because I didn’t know him for too long and I don’t have a lot of connection with him yet, but I did feel a little bit of wistfulness in me. I found the Royal Silk Lounge pretty quickly, and I rewarded myself with a nice cup of coffee as I wait for boarding. No sleep still but I feel more invigorated than ever before. Which is a good sign that a trip was a good one. A trip that didn't tire you, and actually made you more invigorated for life. I have Thailand to thank for that. Never a wasted moment.
