  1. Great meeting up with you again on Friday Michael and was a really fun evening, felt like we gently 'ramped up' thru the night from Screwboys (still one of my favs) and your Khmer was VERY cute...to Freshboys 2 which had a lovely selection (lots of hot Thai, Khmer, Viet, Myanmar & Laos boys). But as you say the 'main event' was definitely Luckyboys which was just heaving with talent...sheer 'ranks' of hot boys on stage, really quite something to behold, think I was there for 45 mins (in total) that night and I still kept seeing boys popping up near the end that were catching my eye. I offed the 2nd Viet guy I called over for ST only after the 1st one of my 'regular' LT Viets gave me a green card (always best to check with the boss!)...actually he encouraged it as I was 'helping' his pal as he put it. When I came back into Patpong 2 later that night ended up at a funny little beer bar with 6 Viet waiters / barboys for an unexpected lock-in (but that's another story). Out of the 2.5 week trip I spent 7 days in BKK (4 at the front end and 3 at the back) and visited Luckyboys 6 of those nights and was never bored or disappointed, think we're all Lucky (excuse the pun) to have access to such a club. It does vary depending on where you sit so I do 'get' some of the other posters comments but once you've learnt the layout its ok imho plus just get there before show-time and you'll have more choice of good seats. I avoid sitting up in the 'gods' unless there's nothing else available or I know exactly who I'm in there looking for. Screwboys the following Saturday night was also busy but I got there later (after 10pm) so they had more guys working by then Will try and stick a 'Synopsis' of the trip up when I get time...I've probably bored Paul-SF, Colm-X & your good self to death already with my over-sexed (post offs) LINE ramblings already so apoligies...lol

  2. I was never seated in the high sofa seats in the rear so I can't comment on them but I believe, as you say, they were designed for groups. They also allow a degree of privacy that the ones closer to stage don't. If you want to be seated elsewhere, I'd let the mamasan know. It's a big place and seats turn over frequently. Overall, I think Lucky Boys utilizes its space better than the other bars. The sight lines are excellent and unobstructed for the most part. You have to put the stage somewhere and LB's is large and can accommodate a lot of talent. You do have to tilt your head up a bit if you're in the very front seats but I find the perspective they offer worth the effort. I think Freshboys offers good stage views although most are from the sides. Dreamboys is handicapped by the huge column directly in front of the stage. Hotmale offers pretty good views.

  3. I met up with a friend last night for some gallivanting around the city. As he is only in town for a few days and we have similar tastes, the bar choices were easy. We started at Screwboy and had a nice time. There were several cute guys there, not too many customers and no pressure at all to buy someone a drink. However, I did find a cute Cambodian I liked and had a drink with him. He was sweet and conversational. We then went over to Fresh Boys (I think that was the name. The 2nd Floor bar near Screwboys) and they had a plethora of cute guys. There were many that caught my attention and an old mamasan from Pattaya I knew so I had fun. We then went to Lucky Boys. There must have been 50 guys on stage and also some stunners. This place was popping with talent. My friend picked a few guys that he knew for drinks and I knew he was set for the night so I left. I would have had a guy that I wanted to meet for a drink for the mamasan from Screwboys told me to visit SuperA Boys and I did. I am glad I did. I had a great time. I had 5 guys over for a drink. The cost was 150 baht per drink so very reasonable. The boys were all 19 and obviously pretty new from their demeanor. They spoke no English and were from the local area. I enjoyed one especially. But, it was late so I tipped them all 500 baht as I enjoyed my time there and left. While waiting for my Grab, 4 of those boys jumped on motorbikes and left. I guess my tip was what they are looking for and they got it and moved on for the night. This told me that perhaps if I want to see one again, I'll go early and meet one before he disappears. There is no death to the gay scene in Bangkok. It has changed and it is different but it is still fun, enjoyable and everyone can find someone they like (if they like males).

  4. Depends on result of the last one. Consult the specialist and see what is recommended. At the moment I have one about every 4 years but not sure any hard and fast rule.

  6. Nothing sexual - if interesting only in sexual material, ignore this thread. If curious about what is only 65 miles from Sao Paulo but prohibited for tourism, this documental is quite amazing - By the way, the video starts off saying Australia but that is only where the producers of the show are located. They traveled to Brazil to make this documentary:

  7. Your understanding is the same as mine. While I don't know if it is available in Thailand as yet, there's an alternative (called Cologuard) in which you send a stool sample in for analysis and, supposedly, it actually is more precise in detecting all kinds of issues (especially various types of cancers). The benefits are obvious - none of the night before preparations or cost (in US, Medicare pays for all of it) - but it's not recommended for people who have had prior issues (discovery of questionable polyps, etc.) and, also, if the analysis does show an issue, then an actual colonoscopy is usually the next step. And the Cologuard is recommended for every three years. I had one colonoscopy about 12 years ago (luckily, no issues) and did the Cologuard deal last summer while in the US. Two more years and I'll do it again. I attended a funeral in June for the wife of a friend who died from complications from her first colonoscopy 3 weeks earlier. Those kind of fatal complications don't happen often from a colonoscopy procedure but, like most medical procedures, it's not risk-free.

  9. Every 5 years for me, but I am in a slightly higher risk group than average. Had the most recent done last month, as it happens. It found one non-malignant polyp. It was done at the Sriphat Medical Centre in Chiang Mai. The doctor who did it is a teacher at CMU Medical School, trained in the US and has recently spent 4 months in Japan learning advanced endoscopy techniques. Total cost for initial consultation, special laxatives for preparation, the actual colonoscopy, biopsy on the polyp and follow up consultation with the doctor around 17,000 baht.

  10. Although colonoscopy has long been considered as the gold standard, complications do occur. The National Institutes of Health (NIH) performed an extensive study and found that 2.01 patients per thousand required hospitalization within 30 days for complications. You can read an abstract of the study at link below. Found it worth noting that the rate of complications increases with age. Was surprised to learn that among the common drugs administered prior to a colonoscopy is Fentanyl. https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC2821994/

  11. I didn’t like the new Lucky Boys. Most of the seats were too far from the stage and I had difficulty seeing the boys. Other seats are below the stage and one would need to strain ones neck. Lucky Boys too big and badly set up. The curved sofas must be meant for large groups of Chinese. I thought of bringing opera glasses.

  12. I believe it all depends on age and what the doctor finds - if anything. I was always told everyone should get one at 50. If clear, then ten years before the next one is OK. But if he finds a few polyps, I was always told every 5 years. Now close to 70 I have had 4 over the years and nothing has ever been found thankfully. A few weeks ago at Bumrungrad, I had a different doctor. After she had prescribed some medication for an unrelated illness, I asked when I should have another colonoscopy procedure. My regular doctor had said 5 years since the last. After looking at my file, this doctor said 10 years after the last! Curious!

  13. I get a colonoscopy every 5 years. My last one was at Bangkok hospital. That is also an upscale hospital.

  14. I went to Bumrungrad last year. Agree it's all very good and professional. Also something very fun and uplifting about hanging out with all those people from all over the world and everyone is just the same in his/her hospital gown. Most difficult part of the whole thing was the stool-sample-on-demand. My final interview with the doctor was a bit rushed, I thought, but I think that's just the modern healthcare system. Red things on the computer that showed out-of-normal ranges for some tests but his answer for everything was just drink more water and were a mask when the pollution levels are up, which suited me fine. They are very proud of their state-of-the-art everything there, including the non-invasive prostrate exam. I joked that I was rather looking forward to the regular prostrate exam. It took him a minute before he had a good laugh. The guidance in the U.S. used to be colonoscopy every 10 years starting at 50. Earlier and/or more frequently depending on risk group or more importantly family history. I don't know if that thinking has changed. Just for comparison purposes I was thinking of trying BNH this year.

  15. I have another friend coming into town shortly so I hope to get back out soon and revisit every bar in the area. However, I think I'll start with Lucky Boys as there were so many on stage I could not see them all very well and I need to pick a seat closer to the action next time. I didn't try Tawan for a while. Any word on that recently?

  16. Canada also will not cover health care for visitors or non-permanent residents. There have indeed been issues here with people arriving, needing expensive care, and then not paying. Even for Canadian citizens, if you leave the country for more than six months, seven in some provinces, you are dropped from the Canadian health plan for the first three months after you return. And our treatment of Aboriginal people and our record on climate change are both appalling. Canada looks good from outside only because we are next door to you-know-who.

  18. Oz has absolutely 2 or 3 times come down to cut trolls here off their testicles & cast them out. Rightly. But no mommy-ish needless messing around in the forums day-to-day. He leave us to our own devices, on the supposition we can work things out among ourselves. What an adult point of view.

  20. Many years ago, when my lust for Benjamin Nicholas affected the stature of my rock hard erection, I offered frequent contributions at Hooville. I, too, was stunned by the number of right wingers on that board, especially in admin. Sources tell me that the old, bald queen known as Epigonos, also known for his (gag-me) deviled eggs, has no difficulty spewing his Republican views if he corners you at the PS pool party. I would have enjoyed smashing an egg in his face if he ever tried that with me. I love talking politics with smart, informed people, but I tend to avoid political chit-chat on the internet. I don't recall Hooboy's politics. I tried to ignore Daddy's posts as much as possible, but I suspected he had strong political opinions that leaned toward a mix of Republican and Libertarian, a weird mix for sure. Add to that his love of sci-fi, and you got a crazy cake for sure. Cooper the mod was an admitted Republican who claimed to enjoy placing dollar bills in a male stripper's ass crack. The picture in my mind of a White, cheap, fat, classist subjugator was always quite vivid. So I never hesitated to mock him, and I got banned for it. A personally proud moment, for sure. I have a number of friends who vote Republican, but they're all heterosexual businessmen. NYC Republicans are their own breed. They're often selfish and greedy, so paying less taxes is their singular voting issue. They're not much interested in culture wars. I don't have any close gay friends who are registered Republicans. Never have in all my years in NYC. I'm not quite sure how I would make a close friendship like that work. I'm glad I haven't had to give it much thought. I don't understand why any gay man would vote Republican, even if he's filthy rich. The way AIDS was handled by the Republicans in the 1980's was bad enough. The party's consistent homophobic, anti-gay policies, while many were sucking dick and taking hard cock up the ass in secret, is way too much damaging hypocrisy for any community to forgive and forget. In NYC, I'm often reminded of the expression, "self-hating Jew." I suppose there is also such a thing as a "self-hating gay." There are plenty of studies available on the internet that look at why people vote against their own interest. Examples are evident in my own Midwest family. Some parents are hard-core one way or another. And they raise their children to think in the same manner. Brainwashing the kids, and it works. Thankfully, my parents believed in free-thinking, so they did not try to control our minds. My dad voted for Ronald Reagan, but he also voted for Bill Clinton twice. My parents were registered Democrats, but they weren't always loyal to one party. Racism plays a large role, but that's for another thread. I do hate the racists. Recently, my gun-loving Republican cousin had to put her mother into a nursing home. In time, her mother's assets were depleted, and she faced two choices: pay out of her own pocket or sign her mother up for Medicaid. When I tell you that my cousins are all staunch Republicans (they hate anything named Clinton), "crazed right winger" doesn't even touch the surface. Of course my cousin signed her mother up for Medicaid. With a few homes and a few boats, the thought of spending personal money was too much to endure. But here's the kicker: their red state was reluctant to accept Medicaid expansion in the ACA. Eventually, at great hoopla, their Republican governor accepted it. If it hadn't been for President Barack Obama, whom they hated, there would have been no option to put her mother on Medicaid. I would love the opportunity to throw their hypocritical bullshit right back in their faces, but I have limited time left in my life and I'm too disinterested in fighting with assholes. I want to spend the last third of my life in the peace I create, so I decided to cut ties without telling them. I bought property in Italy, so it's very easy to escape family functions. "Sorry, I'll be in Italy."

  22. I'm rather cognizant of the move made by #45 a few months back. Note "Trump Bans Most Travel to Cuba" which was begun by Sanddunes on 6.24.19. I wrote and posted. Note https://www.tourepublic.com/blog/how-to-travel-to-Cuba as well as perhaps the web address that you printed. If others and I plan to travel to Cuba in the future-- we'll do it on our own accord in knowing what "the psycho Trump" initiated a month or so ago and in our knowing how to do it without undergoing any undue problems. If my memory serves me correctly-- you attempted to castigate me a few years back when I posted that I'd be traveling to the largest Caribbean island country w/o the approval of the US government. Please go back and reread those posts. You do as you desire; others and I will do likewise. This is ALL that I'm going to post in conjunction with my welcoming and warm thread! Astute travelers know how to handle situations that are as sensitive as this if they do their homework prior to traveling. I've done it in the past and will continue to do as such in the future.
